Jenny is one of the best instructors I've ever had. She makes class fun, gives you great projects, and has lots of neat class activities. If you have to take communications...she's the best teacher you can get!

Awesome prof! Definitely gives you a good laugh. She has the most beautiful red hair you've ever seen! Make sure not to lick your fingers before turning your papers in! Major pet peeve :-)

Great instructor with an awesome teaching style and personality. Class was extremely interactive with focus on group work. COM 101 is also a writing class, or has a prerequisite, the 3 papers were easy, 2 2-3page short response, 1 5-7 page research paper. Only problem, IMO is that the grading was WAY too easy. Answers to tests are pretty much given

Online using moodle. Very hard to determine with being online. But a very helpful and great teacher. She wants us all to pass! I wish I woulda taken her course in school!

Amazing teacher! One of my favorites. I had her at 8:00 in the morning and had no problem getting woke up. She is hilarious and makes the imformation she teaches fun and easy. Papers are easy, only three and the tests are easy. Take her if you have the chance

Let's put it this way: I was sad to say goodbye on the last day of class. Jenny is energetic, funny, and one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Although I wasn't initially interested in COMM, she made the class fun and I learned so much from her!

Took this online in 8 weeks. Not sure what to expect. There's a lot of work, quizzes are hard, but I learned MORE than any other class I've ever taken! This class is life changing, just as she says can happen! I didn't believe it, but my communication is actually better. GO FIGURE! College CAN teach you something. Thanks Jenny!

The 1st day of class, i saw why my sister recommended Jenny to me. She is a fun, upbeat teacher, who constantly speaks whatever crosses her mind 1st. Her class was eye opening, and i learned so much about myself and my communication habits. I recommend this class to anyone. The work was simple yet fun.

Jenny makes school very interesting. She will walk a hundred miles to make sure you understand and get the best grade. Don't think you get an A without doing anything, but with very little effort, you will get an A. You should take her, trust me!

Jenny is a great teacher. She has all the materials laid out in front of you, is very nice and down to earth, and so helpful! She emails back super fast, and gives you credit for just trying on the discussions. All quizzes are open book, untimed, and unsecure. Definitely take her class, you'll learn a lot! Easy A :)

Absolutely LOVE her currently in her COM113 class. Highly recommend her such a fun and easy class shes extremely helpful and understanding makes class interesting and interactive for the most part if you need to take COM 113 or any other class she teaches i definitely recommend her. Jenny is really clear during her lectures and makes the material understandable. The homework is a challege but will help you a lot. If you don't understand the hw or want to make sure you've done it correctly, Jenny will help you during office hours or before/after class. The exams are difficult, a lot of the course is pure memorization.

Jenny is an excellent teacher! She knows her stuff and is passionate about it! You need to go to class! HW is given then and she will not tell you after the fact! Tests are hard, even if you study a lot. You need to study from an applicable point of view!

Overall good class, a little too much busy work but that's to be expected in a writing class. Most of the content is extremely applicable to anyone planning on going into a professional business environment - especially the resume workshop. She is very willing to work with you and besides being a little soft spoken, is a great teacher.

Jenny is a great woman who loves to joke around but can also be very serious. I had her for Communication Theory as well as interpersonal communication. For Communication Theory she made sure that everyone had a comfortable and non judgmental atmosphere for each of their projects. She is a joy and truly cares about her students.

Even though there's a lot of dense concepts and group work, it's much more doable than taking this class at another school, such as WMU. Jenny makes Human Communication Theory easy to understand and less brutal. She expects you to be involved so you can't snooze off in her class. To anybody majoring in Communications, take any course with Jenny! :)

This was my first online class and I'm terrified to take another, especially if it is like this one. This is the intro class to my major and I'm terrified I'm going to have to retake it. The exams are very difficult. I would have much rather preferred this class in a classroom setting than online.

This woman is amazing. She's funny, easy-going, and loveable. She get's very personal with her students which was something I appreciated. She's very real. As long as you go to class and participate, you have an A. Assignments are easy (if there are assignments!) Show up, participate, and if you get stuck, chances are she'll give you another shot.

I took her class online the first time it was offered and it the worst online experience I have had. For a 1000 level class it required 3000-4000 level amount of work as well as difficult deadlines. At the end there is a group project that is next to impossible to do online but is worth more then anything else. I would stay away from this class.

She made a boring subject very fun. You will find yourself looking forward to this class if you don't mind participating in in-class activities and are comfortable expanding your comfort zone. Easy assignments.

She's really easy to relate to, but almost too much like a college student. Midterm and final are extremely easy. Homework also very easy. Easy grader. Very laid back. Discusses personal life a little too much for my liking.

I absolutely loved coming to class! Jenny is so awesome, and she's actually willing to help. You do a ton of activities, and she makes learning fun. I highly recommend taking her for every class possible! While attendance isn't mandatory, there are a ton of class activities for points and they're fun.

Jenny is a great communications teacher! There are a lot of group activities but it helps you retain the lesson. At one point she had a lot of assignments due within a 3 week period, but if you start them early in the semester you will be fine. There are only 5 exams and she takes your highest 4 scores!

I've had Jenny for two classes so far and as long as you engage in the material you'll receive good grades back and an awesome semester!

Jenny is amazing! I would love to take more of her courses. Almost every class period there was a class group activity that really helped explain the lesson with the PowerPoint lecture. As for homework, do it and you'll be fine. Really enjoyed her class!

Take this class if you want to learn nothing and get a very easy A. I certainly can't complain.

Jenny is Great! She is a professional story teller which means that she knows what she is talking about. The work load was really light and the quizzes were easy. Only 6 exams, but she takes your best 5!

She's really awesome, laid back, understand and funny. However, she really likes to hear herself talk... I felt like I was at a Stand Up Comedian show, but not in the good way. She often just rambles on and on about simple concepts. Her class is really fun, especially for a COM major, but just know she talks A LOT.

She's super nice, but tough on you - however it's for the best. She wants to get the best writing out of you that she possibly can. I enjoyed Prof White very much.

I hate Interpersonal Communications and dreaded this class, but she makes it really easy and takes a lot of the stress and anxiety away! Great class! :) COM theories may not be the most interesting topic in the world, but Jenny makes the class enjoyable. The Exams aren't hard if you study the reviews. She might not be the easiest prof, but she is a great resource for students! She will go out of her way to help you be successful-both in class and in the professional world!

This was by far one of my favorite professor especially for an online class! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Very organized, easy grader, and simple class. There was two easy forums each week and one pretty simple test. She curves it to your advantage and add extra credit! TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, YOUR LIFE WILL BE SO MUCH EASIER.

This class way by far my all time favorite and only one this semester where I got to know mostly everyone by name. That is all due to Professor Ott's engaging teaching style. She just wrote me a recommendation to study abroad and she helps her students all the time. Highly recommend.

Tests are an absolute breeze (some questions are on in class activities). Getting an A means you have to participate and attend, but it's a fun class that you won't want to miss. She has a heart of gold and takes time to get to know each student. She's honest and straight forward and make expectations known. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Professor Ott is very well respected by her students. She is helpful, crystal clear about the course content, and quite funny. Don't burn a bridge with her because she can really help you in the future. She knows a ton of people in the community. I am taking her again next semester. She also helped me get an internship.

LOVE JENNY. I have her for COM 200 and she is amazing. Her class is interesting and she is the funniest teacher I have. Its easy to pass with an A if you go to class and do well on the online quizzes. The book is a must to pass those. I am taking her again for COM 280 and I cant wait!!

I love Jenny. She is by far one of the sweetest teachers I have ever had. And she is incredibly smart and well educated in communication! I switched around my next semester just so I could take Com 280 with her. Her classes are always interesting and she makes participation really fun. She does online quizzes that are open book as well.

I'm disappointed that WMU doesn't have that many COM professors like Jenny. She is the best that KVCC had to offer. My advice to newcoming freshmen, take all of your pre-req COM requirements & electives at KVCC with Jenny.

Make the most of this class/instructor. She is an expert in the field and knows all the latest research on Interpersonal COM.

This class will definitely prepare you for upper-division COM courses at WMU. A little difficult but she is VERY willing to help you at any time.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Jenny! She is the queen of everything theater related and I respect her so much! She is sassy but honest and will help you improve in any way she can.

This Professor is the best I have ever had. She genuinely cares for her students and understanding of material. You must participate in class but she makes it fun and gives you test answers every day. If you get the chance to take one of her classes, you won't regret it!

Jenny was cool. She is very energetic and likes to talk about her family but it's cool. Tests are online and open note/book, but online so work on them with others in your class. It helps. If you have her early in the morning she'll keep you awake. Just get to class and take notes. and use a lot of detail on tests and assignments.

This professor is funny, helpful and makes everyone get to know one another in class. I haven't had that in other courses at KVCC. If you do the readings, work hard on your papers and projects, you will do well. I am signing up for another class with her next year and she is helping me get an internship and writing me a letter of recommendation.

She is soooooo funny! (If you take this class you'll understand the reference). I enjoyed her stories and examples of metaphors far more than the textbook content. She's sassy, open-minded, and not afraid to express herself which is great for keeping your attention. This ENTIRE class is based off of metaphors. For an easy A, take this class.

This class is more like the Jenny Ott's comedy hour, but that's not a bad thing. She keeps the material fresh and funny and has a lot of interesting out of text information. The class went downhill a bit during the semester, but it was still a lot better than my friend's COM 113 class with a different professor!

The most engaging and entertaining speaker I have ever had for a teacher. I retained everything extremely well and enjoyed listening to her wit and wisdom. The class will be very easy as long as you show up and pay attention!

Great class! Jenny truly cares about you. She wants you to learn and teaches interpersonal communication so you can walk away with knowledge to help you in life. There is no midterm or final. Just 6 open note/book quizzes which she drops one in the end. Most of your points come from the 3 papers. Very interesting. You need the textbook!

Jenny just gets it. She made everyone feel comfortable in class and the entire class period was filled with good material. She listens to what her students have to say and treats them as adults. Shes also super funny. I always heard people leaving this class saying that they enjoyed it. Take any class with her you can, I love her! Need the book.

Honestly, although I hated the content of COM theory but Jenny made the class enjoyable. I feel like if it would've been any other professor, I would have dreaded going to the class but she really did a good job teaching it and helping us to understand the content. I loved com113 with Jenny. As someone who normally sits in the back and hates talking in class, I was dreading taking com. From the first day, Jenny made the class an engaging, warm environment. I now find myself applying a lot of the material to my everyday life. If the opportunity presents itself, I will definitely take another course with her.

BEST Instructor I've ever had! She is absolutely amazing! She is really understanding and makes you feel valued and heard. The book is needed for the quizzes and papers you will write. I never felt stressed in this class, she's open to any questions and will seriously help you. Just make sure to communicate with her, that's what the class is about!

Her class was really fun and easy. Lots of group activities. Jenny showed a great deal of care for her students. We had 3 papers all super easy and she graded pretty easily as well, as she was grading them she would spend the time to write a paragraph about what she thought about the paper. Jenny is hands down the best teacher that I've ever had at KVCC! She cares for her students beyond just the classwork and the grades that are received. Class is super enjoyable with group and partner discussions and little to no homework. If you need to take any communications classes Jenny is the best!

Literally one of the best professors I've ever had.

This 7.5 week course was online due to COVID, but Jenny was an amazing professor. She really wants all of her students to succeed and makes everyone feel special and included. She gives a lot of feedback and participates in the discussions with you. She's always available to help if you need it. Definite 10/10. I'll be taking a class with her again

I did an accelerated online class with her. Both of those things tend to make class miserable, but she made it fun! She was not overwhelming with work even though it was accelerated and we only had one paper the entire class.

Jenny was a really great professor! She is easy to reach and willing to help. There were a lot of online class discussions that were graded, but as long as you participated and did your best you would get full points. We also did need to have the textbook, and that helped a lot on her tests. Overall, I thought this class was easy, but worthwhile.

She is a good teacher. Very accessible and responsive. I took the accelerated course but it somehow never felt overwhelming even though there was a lot to do. I kept putting off starting my paper until I only had 1 week to write it. You probably shouldn't do that because you need citations, resources, etc. She offers extra credit, about 55 points.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! Jenny gives you all of the resources you need, her 8-week course was great, clear expectations and involvement, and all of us definitely learned something that'll help us later in life. If you're looking for a fun and easy elective class, COM 200 with Jenny Ott is the one to choose!

I just finished my 8-week 100% online Interpersonal Communication class with Jenny Ott and I'm honestly a little sad that it's over! You can tell that Jenny puts a lot of effort into making online courses feel personal. Overall, assignments were clear, concepts were life-altering and easy to learn, and I will always recommend Jenny.

Jenny Ott is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She gives excellent instruction and as long as you're communicative with her about your areas of weakness, she is on your side and willing to work with you. She definitely wants you to succeed. I adore her and cannot wait to take more of her classes. If you have the chance, take her class!!!

Heavily uses the textbook--be prepared to read. She does provides a chapter outline, which is helpful. Quizzes are untimed/open-book. Discussion participation is critical, especially for being online. No final, but she does require a research paper in lieu of and gives a detailed overview of how to structure it. Great instructor!

Professor Ott is one of the best professors I have had at KVCC. She truly cares about her students and even goes so far as to talk to other professors on your behalf if she feels you were wronged. Her class is not difficult, but it was still very fun, engaging, and informative. 11/10 recommend her!

Prof Ott was a great teacher for Com113. Make sure to do your discussions and participate! She was a fair grader, gave opportunities for extra credit, expect weekly chapter quizzes. Overall an easy class to manage the workload.

This class was so well organized and Jenny is a great Prof! You can really tell she cares about her students. She is very active in the discussion posts which I appreciated! There are lots of extra credit opportunities. Overall I enjoyed this class.

This professor is WONDERFUL. I adore her. Shes friendly, readily available for students and offers such great feedback. She was quick to answer all of my questions and was respectful, always. Literally could not recommend a more communicative professor. Shes perfect for her position.

Jenny is an amazing teacher. You have to read the book and the quizzes can be hard, discussion posts can get tedious but she cares about all her students.

Jenny took her time and was super easy on grading. I wish I had her full-time in class instead of it being a blended online course. She made learning about communication fun and meaningful.

Such an amazing, passionate, & caring educator. I could tell from the start just how passionate she was about the subject, and how much she wanted us to succeed. In-person attendance wasn't mandatory at the time, which is great if you prefer an asynchronous approach or needed to miss a few periods. Lots of discussion posts & open-note quizzes.

Jenny was absolutely amazing! I had been on the fence about choosing communications as my major but now I know it was the right decision. I can't wait to take more classes with her!

Jenny was so kind and her class was super easy to understand. Her directives were clear. If you read your chapters and participate as required, it is possible to get a 4.0 despite her grading scale being higher than other professors at KVCC. She gets right in there and communicates in discussions. I really loved that.

Absolute sweetheart of a professor, she genuinely cares about seeing you succeed and is totally open for you to reach out. Follow the criteria for instructions, ask questions, and do the extra credit! Take advantage of what she gives you and you will do great. Prepare for the paper she gives you early and you'll get an easy A!

Jenny is the best, if you need to take a COM course take it with her! She is very clear on the expectations, open book tests, and participation is needed. One thing I loved is that she would jump in the discussions and participate with the class expanding more on the material, I found this to be very helpful since it was an online class.

Jenny was by far one of my favorite professors at KVCC. She was so kind, and so easy to talk to. Her classes were lecture heavy, but if you miss a class here or there it's pretty easy to catch up if you do the reading. She is also very encouraging about asking for help and won't shame you at all --even if it's a silly question. Love her!

I had Jenny for interpersonal communication, an 8am course. I hated waking up so early but she was genuinely amazing, gave great feedback, actually made me laugh, and I understood everything she presented. Show up, be present, and communicate if you need help. By far the best professor I've had at KVCC and would recommend her to EVERYONE!

I absolutely loved professor Ott! she was so kind, and encouraging. She made everything very easy to understand and if something wasn't clear she was very easily accessible and would help explain. I took the online version so I don't know how she does attendance. I just know that this class was great.

Love her so much, she is very nice. I wish I took in person class with her. She is so flexible and she will be there for you if you need her. I took online class and it is not hard. She is motivational instructor. Take with her for communication classes.

Professor Ott is amazing! Her classes are engaging and she genuinely cares about her students' success. For study prep, I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook super helpful. Just stay engaged and you'll do great.

Professor Ott is an excellent instructor, one of the best I've had so far at KVCC. The course work is relatively easy and you can find the answers from the quizzes in the book. The papers are probably the most time consuming/hardest thing you'll do in class but other than that you should be able to get an easy A in this class. Participation is key!

This professor is amazing!! She is super welcoming to everyone who joins her class, and tries her best to make you feel comfortable and at home. There are social activities to prepare for, but they're super laid back and fun. She's super understanding if you're struggling, you can DEF go to her. Her grading is very clear, and helpful.

I took her Interpersonal Communication class a couple semesters ago, and she was great! She was super supportive, kind, and you could tell she cares about her students and their success. I remember getting 100% on my final paper, and I was so happy! She even reached out to say how great of a paper it was. Overall, I would highly recommend her!!

Very helpful class! Ott provides great and timely feedback on speeches. Grading criteria is clear. Good diversification of assignments. Overall very entertaining and useful class.

What's not to love about Professor Ott? She's incredibly sweet and thoughtful, always bringing warmth and kindness into the classroom. Her stories are not only engaging but also inspiring—they add a personal touch that makes learning feel more meaningful. One of the things I appreciate most is how she genuinely values her students.
