such a great teacher, generous on grading tests and quizzes, very helpful
Funny, teaches the material VERY well, she understands & helps her students
a very giving instructor
She doesn't know my name. I feel like a number!
Very fun and nice, quiz every week
Jenny is very cool. She is there to help you... so don't be afraid to ask. I even went to her for Math 103 help. She doesn't teach Math 103. However, she knows her stuff and was nice enough to help me anyway.
SHE IS A VERY EASY GOING TEACHER, MAKES EVERYTHING EASY, HER DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN TO ANYONE, QUIZ EVERY WEEK-BUT EASY(4 QUESTIONS MAX), SHE IS A FRIEND-BUT HONEST, YOU FEEL SCARED TO ASK HER A QUESTION!!! BEST MATH 90 TEACH AND EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HER!!!!
Very clear good-humored lectures. She is kinda harsh when it comes to grading, but nothing too seriuos. If you go to her office, she'll help you out a lot :)
Excellent math teacher! I wish she would teach differen'ls & linear alg. Always available for help & makes appts outside of office hrs. Her quizes this semester were somewhat challenging; her tests were challenging.

Awesome teacher! Easy~!
Excellent teacher. I've taken math 90 before and really stuggled. Jenny is willing to help any time you need questions answered. Make sure you keep up on the homework and stay awake in class and you can't help but pass.
Though she is a very easy teacher, she doesn't know what she is talking about. Not smart at all. I pretty much had to teach myself. She fumbles around a lot and makes a lot of mistakes.
Very nice.
jenny is excellent at helping the mathematically challenged. she makes it all so clear.
Very helpful lectures. she really knows what she is talking about, and her own way of doing certain things can really help you get it right more often listen in lecture and do homework...you will pass for sure!
Jenny is a good instructor who cares about her students. You'll learn a lot in her class.
She's a great teacher, she has a unique sense of humor to her personality that makes you wanna come back for more she's hella tight, take her
Very nice, very funny, and very smart. Also very strict with difficult tests. It was a challenge for me but i learned a lot
Very nice and helpful. Funny and upbeat. She'll work with you and she makes a heck of a bon bon!
Great teacher. You learn a lot but the tests are quite difficult. I would totally recommend her.
Understand everything on the test review sheets and you will get an A. Decent lecture ability. Fair grader. Fantabulous Bon Bons!
Fair grader with extra credits. Tests somewhat difficult, but test reviews help. If math isn't your easiest subject, then make sure to go to class. Or else, its hard to catch up. She's very approachable if extra help is needed.
she is really great teacher~have fun in her class, she is very helpful and you can ask her some difficult questions, she will help you to solve it,she will teach you in any time, just do all the homework, and do the extra credit, then you will be fine~GREAT!!
awsome! Great lecturer and cute to.
did not take math for 5yrs.jumped into calc and guess what..that was the hardest grade:c(74.2%)that I had earned.Yes she is easy, but beware calculus is not an easy subject so don't do like i did cuz i spent 3hrs min 4X/week in math lab.
Very good teacher. Would take her again in a second. Knows material, explains it very well. Great if you need help as well.
very helpful and makes cal seem so easy
She is nice person but, class was so boring and taked quiz everytime. Test was so hard. I think she is proud herself thru hard test.
SHe is the reason I like math now. I hated math, didn't understand it at all. SHe makes things clear and is very helpful. If you go to class and at least attempth the homework, you will do well on the tests. I was a D &F Math student, I got A's in bothe of her classes. Great Teacher!
She's very helpful, but her class is full of quizes and tests. If your the type that want to slack off, don't take this class. On the other hand, if you do your work and listen to her lectures, you'll do fine.
Veyr nice teacher, eay to understand. Easy class as long as you go to every class. If you miss classes it is hard to get caught up and will end up having to teach yourself. She has alot of quizzes that you cant make up! So dint miss classes and you will be fine!
Jenny is one of the best math teachers! She's caring and helpful in answering questions. Her tests are challenging but fair. It's calc, so you need to go to class, do the hw and study. We had about 8 quizes, 5 tests, and a final. She passes out tons of worksheets which are VERY helpful. TAKE HER!
She gets pissed off at simple questions. Will teach differently than you learned. Willing to help but only on your time. If you take her, study all notes and homwork because will pop in there some even numbers; when your homework was odds.
Mrs. V is great. Calc is hard, but she is probably the best teacher you can have for it.People who are scared of math will be surprised that they can actually get it with her.Helpful, cool, and funny. Do all HW every day, gives some extra credit. Im an A student, got a high B in her class.
one of the best math teachers in the world
Excellent teacher! I understood math for the first time in my life. I will be taking her for Math 180!
She is a very nice person, but sit in front of the class so you understand and pay attention. Make sure you stay the whole class and attend reg. or you will miss important information. If you understand the material you will do good in the class. study guides are pretty much just like the test.
Very clear lectures. if you've had calc before, class is a breeze. Very likeable. Offered makeups for ppl who were failing. Doesn't collect homework, only quizes and tests. If you do/don't like math, you will learn the most from her. Best math teacher from grossmont so far.
I didnt pass the class, but i probably could have if i had studied more. I had not had any calc before i took her class so it was a little abstract. I will save her worksheets for reference (they are helpful) when I take 180 next semester.
This is one of the most excellent teacher I have ever taken at Grossmont. She is able to make you understand easily. Her test is easy. What you need to do is doing the homework. Highly reccommend!!
Be sure to study a lot, and be prepared to drop the class before the last day. When I took the class, it started off with 52 students, then dropped down to 10 by the time I left.
talks way too much blaw blaw X blaw homework blaw blaw AKA nap time
It seems she is there just to get her paycheck every two weeks; never behind schedule because she goes through sections in a hurry & doesn't make sure that all students have understood the material. She's rude when you go to her office hours and answers questions briskly and without much interest. Don't recommend her
Jenny does a great job explaining the concepts, and she prepares you for 280. She could be a little rude, but she is really nice and helpful as long as you do the homework and pay attention...trust me, there are much worse calc teachers out there, so whoever is complaining about her just didn't do the necessary work, which wasn't too bad.

She's very helpful and always answered all my questions. She also made herself easily accesible to her students. I also liked the fact that she wrote out all her notes on the board for us.
its not an easy class. how could trig and pre cal ever be easy??? so, DO your homework, go to the turtoring center and math lab and just get it done, people! shes cool and it is easy to pass with a B if you do some, (ok, a lot), of work. if you cant hang dont take the combined class!!!
Jenny's a great teacher! Very friendly. Calculus isn't an easy subject, but she does a good job explaining everything. She is also always there to help if you need it! I would definitely recommend her.
if you go to class ask qquestions and do the homework you will do fine in her class
very nice and easy to understand!
the BEST teacher i have ever had!!!! seriously, this woman was born to teach! i loved being in her class and she was so helpful! you can tell she really has a love for what she does, that was very apparent. if you struggle with math, i highly recommend her. she's the best, you won't be sorry!! i've struggled with math all my life, and i got an a!
I agree with the last persons review.I wish she did more examples. She has a bad attitude sometimes. Most of your grade comes from tests. Not a lot of wiggle room to get extra points. Extra credit was given but was weighted as a quiz and only worth 5 pts. I'm an A student, Show up everyday, do all the H.W. and will probably get a B in her class. :(
Do not take this class Mon-Thurs. It goes by too quickly and Jenny flies through her lectures just to finish the lesson. Few examples...if you've already taken calc before this wouldn't be an issue but the majority of us haven't! Tests are alright, just study (A LOT). If you can, try to take it with someone else...
WOW! Does She Love Math!
Shes REALLY nice but not the best at teaching calc. Class is really easy if you've taken calc before and just need a refresher. but i wouldn't recommend her if your new to calc, she's kinda goofy and when she teaches she seems scattered and doesn't explain calc mathematically or thoroughly. dont take her if u really want to understand & learn calc
This is the teacher to take if you are struggling with statistics. I took if the semester before with an awful teacher, took vanden-eynden and rolled away with B-. She did a great job helping students and making sure they learned the concepts, and if you're having trouble ASK for help. overall good class
The good news is she knows her stuff and you will leave prepared but don't be deceived by her ratings from the stats people, she is an average calc teacher. Half the class dropped by the end and she was still trying to get an even distribution with the survivors. The only people who got A's spoke math as their first language.
Amazing teacher, she expects you to be proficient in algebra before coming to calculus, so make sure you are ready.Test are more then fair, the worksheets she gives are usually harder then the actual test. She is a clear teacher to understand.
She seemed to be a good Calculus teacher to me, despite some of the other comments of her being average here. She was clear, helpful, available during office hours, and directed people to tutoring resources if they needed them. It's clear that she likes to teach and expects prior knowledge that is to be expected from students in trig and algebra.
Great teacher. She really wants you to grasp the material. One of the rare teachers that actually cares about the student's success. I nose dived the first time I took calc with a different teacher. I actually understood what was going on this time.
She is very helpful, her policy with homework is very helpful for the tests. No homework is collected. Her practice tests help a lot on the exams!
Amazing teacher. Clear, personable, patient. Tests are hard but she gives you everything you need. They're easier than the review sheet, so if you practice and study then you'll get an A. Doesn't require the textbook in class. Doesn't assign homework for Calculus, but you better do it anyway. Again: Amazing teacher.
I think she's a great teacher if you're BAD at math. But if you're good at math, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She spends waaaay too much time explaining basic math that you should have learned in MIDDLE SCHOOL. I had a two hour class and half of the class was just going over homework, total waste of my time.
She was a very good teacher! Homework is not collected, but helps on the test. Left me interested and well prepared for Calc 2. I would highly recommend her for calculus. Do not take her class if you prefer straightforward methods and memorizing over a conceptual understanding of the material.
She goes through material too quickly, is passive aggressively rude when you ask questions and isn't willing to work with you much. In a class like math (that teachers know students struggle) you'd think a teacher would have more understanding and willingness to help.
Drops lowest quiz and homework but doesn't drop lowest grade. You can get 100% on all homework and still one is dropped. She doesn't try very hard to help, and in a two hour class gives no breaks. There may be worse, but don't take her. Find someone willing to help and who care
She has an attitude at times and can make people feel stupid when they ask for help. The class was always afraid to participate and she'd just fly through material each week. That was one miserable semester...
One of the hardest math teacher , she brings the longest and hardest math probs on class to solve and in tests too, she makes Calc 2 impossible while its not , someday she solved one intergral prob in abt one hour, too many HW , and test way different than the pretest practice. Hard exams , math is fun but she makes it way harder than its
She is the best professor i have taken before. She explain everything in class and never test on something she never talked about. Tests are from the homework and very easy to get an A. I would take her again!. Recommended
I like her class. Her lecture is very clear and she is helpful. She helps HW before the class starts. Exams are also not that hard, and you can get A if you study. Highly recommended.
She's super nice as long as you aren't disrespectful. Very understanding and makes the class environment friendly and open. She explains concepts clearly and is patient when people have questions, unless they're really off-topic questions or asked in a rude way. Gives in-class and take-home tests, and homework--those are your grade, so do them.
her lecture is very clear and interesting. not easy A but if you wanna learn, this class is for you.
Amazing Teacher!! Take her!
Do not listen to the reviews for this professor. Half the time we spent was going over homework. Rushes through every single topic and if you ask a question, she is more likely to flame you rather than help you. Doesn't drop any exams and has quizzes once every two weeks, in class- and take-home. Makes Calculus I so much harder than it should be.
Awesome professor. Wish she taught Math above 280. She made the hardest level of Calculus the easiest for me to understand. Great at explaining concepts and always offers extra credit on the exams and take home quizzes. If you are going to be taking 280, I strongly recommend her!!
If you are taking 280 she would be the teacher to take. She is great at explaining concepts. She gives a review before every test, which is helpful. Take home quizzes. If you need help she is very helpful. Only complaint I would have is that there is always at least one question on every exam that is just odd. Something you ave never seen before.
She definitely knows math and is clear. I personally think she goes fast for someone who is first learning the material and skips over some topics that end up showing on the exam. She is also incredibly picky when it comes to grading and does not curve exams even when majority attained a D or failing grade.
Jenny is a great teacher for Calc 2. She didn't collect HW, but you won't pass if you don't do the HW because the material is difficult. There are take home quizzes every week to make sure you're keeping up with the material. She made calc 2 fairly easy. The reviews for the exams were harder than the exams, & the exams were straightforward.
Jennifer is a good professor - energetic, positive, and helpful. Assignments are challenging, but not overly so. Tests were on the material studied - no surprises. Overall, a good professor.
Her teaching style is good, especially if math isn't your best subject. She sets you up for success in the class and is great at explaining the material. The class is based on a foundation to so make sure you attend all the classes. I missed one class and I was pretty much screwed for the rest of the material later in the semester.
One of the best math professor I have ever had in my life. Tests and quizes are all taught on the class, so if you carefully take note and good review for it, it is going to be fine. Be self-conscious to do the homework and well-prepare before the class starts because she won't never collect it.
Her first time teaching differential equations and it shows. A lot of required homework that is meticulously checked and graded. Quizzes are take-home but ALL work must be shown. Tests are HARD. Half the class either fails or passes - the average scores are around 70%. Should've taken an instructor with more experience teaching this class.
She teaches both the concepts and applications for doing the math. Always had note packets in class, which was super helpful. Her tests covered the same material that was covered in class and in the homework.
very good teacher i thought i would never pass this class because of how i failed last semester but she was an upstage to my other teacher! i loved listening to her teach and how committed she was to teaching. i came to class almost everyday and passed the class! participation really does matter
If you need Math 176 take her!! She was so amazing and would help you whenever you needed it. Also, the class before a test is all review so theres never a time where she isnt trying to make everyone pass. Shes funny and teaches so many tricks on how to remember things. Also gives a formula sheet to help you learn what to remember.
Try not to tune in to the surveys for this professor. A fraction of the time we spent was going over homework. Races through each and every point and on the off chance that you make an inquiry, she will probably fire you instead of assistance you. Doesn't drop any exams and has quizzes once every two weeks, in class-and bring home. Makes Calculus I
Professor Vanden-Eynden is outstanding. She is a great teacher of the material and always available to help. There isn't any reason you should fail or do poorly in this class unless you just don't come to class, you don't study, you don't do the work, or you don't pay attention. She makes it as easy as possible.
Her handouts were amazing and she is very patient to explain any confusing topics. Your grade is primarily determined by the take home quizzes and the exams, so be sure to study for them.
Don't take this class unless your a math genius. When she lectures she skips steps, assuming people can read her mind & know where she got the answer. The only things grade book: 4 exams at 60%, 5-6 quizzes at 20%, and the final at 20%. DO the homework even though she doesn't grade it. she doesn't give extra credit, if she does it'll be 1-2 pts.
Taking her was difficult. She doesn't seem to be much help. You're pretty much on your own because she will only go off easy examples that can be found anywhere, but immediately makes things harder. Homework isn't mandatory. There is no extra credit. She is strict on attendance as she even dropped a person even after the date because she assumed.
She is a great teacher and she tries to make the subject less complicated. very straightforward, patient and explains hard concepts pretty well. Gives a short take home quiz every week, optional homework practice problems, and a review sheet before the quiz. Her tests are a little hard but she tries her best to set the students up for success.
Pay attention and do the work and you will pass. She has study guides for every test and the homework is online. her calc180 class has a physical homework option but i recommend online as it includes videos to explain problems if you need it. She goes over homework in class too, but she only has so much time to do so. She's an amazing professor.
A truly wonderful professor. This is the second class Ive taken with her and she by far the best professor Ive had in my two years here. Her lectures were never boring and shes the only reason Im still interested in math. Shes enthusiastic about what she teaches and I highly recommend taking a class with her at least once.
She is a great professor. Homework is not mandatory or part of your grade but it helps you A LOT in your test and quizzes. Her exam is not easy or too hard just about right. If you don't do the homework you will be lost.
Great professor! Math isn't my strongest subject but taking two semesters of math with her made it bearable! I understood more math than I ever had!! She helps you out on a lot of homework problems and even the basics. Greatly recommend! Taking her again for Math 280.
She's honestly a terrible teacher. I understood nothing, some because I did not have experience with calc, and some because she did a terrible job of explaining anything. Don't expect to be taught anything, she expects you to know it before taking it. She goes over hw,then gives bad lectures. I recommend anyone else if you want to pass or learn.
I'm not understanding all of these positive reviews. This is one of the most frustrating math classes I have taken. Your grade is based off 3 tests, a few quizzes, and a final. Homework is assigned from the book but not graded. The homework doesn't reflect exams. She does proofs differently. Problems on exams are harder than those done in class.
She's a delightful professor to have. But be warned, the class is pretty difficult compared to Calc and Linear A because of the proofs she expects you to do and she does ask you to define terms precisely on the exams, so memorize them word4word. At the end, she will care for you if you keep asking for help and you will learn a lot from this class.
Took her during the covid-19 crisis and transitioning from lecture to online was a bust, tests have nothing to do with the homework and the take home quizzes are hit or miss if you have someone else to help. Unfair in exams and lecture barely helped with homework or exams. She was the only one teaching the class, but I would've taken someone else.
Jenny always made good comments on tests given back. She returned tests about a month after they were taken partially because of COVID. 10 take-home quizzes that added up fast and were easy points. Tests were a lot easier than the study guides. 1st test was straight forward, but the last 3 had curveballs. Can be condescending at times.
Love this professor. I feel like she explains things very clearly. She gives a lot of helpful handouts (or pdfs of helpful handouts if online). Its obvious she spend a lot of time preparing note taking materials for the students. Very willing to help. She wants you to participate and be an active part of the class. Reasonable expectation of class.
Math245 Please FIND A DIFFERENT class because she will disappoint you. If you tell her I have other responsibilities, she does not care. She will not support you, she had 35 students at the beginning of the semester but she ended up with 15 students.I do not even know if some of these students ended up passing her class. DONT TAKE HER & WASTE TIME.
She is the worst professor, do not take her you. Her exams are nothing like the homework or the quizzes. I waste a semester taking this class. It is a 3 unit class but she makes a 6 unit with the work she gives. She is a bad professor.
My favorite professor I've ever had. Took her courses for calc 1 and calc 2. The grade relies heavily on the tests, but they are reasonable. She makes note packets for each lesson that really help follow along during the lectures. She has a sense of humor during lecture which makes for a good classroom environment. Organized setup in canvas.
She is a good professor who teaches the class very well. The issue for me personally was staying focused during the whole lecture. They were 2 and a half hours, and even though we did get a break, it was hard for me to focus. This isn't on her, because if you do pay attention and do the hw you'll be fine. Would recommend to someone w/ math major.
Probably the best math teacher I have ever had, and saying that during COVID remote learning, is a big deal. She was much more prepared than any teacher I've seen and she does a wonderful job explaining the material. She's very nice and patient. If like math, this teacher is the best teacher to choose! I loved her.
Jenny is very good at what she does. Her explanations are very sophisticate and yet easy to understand. She makes sure you are learning what is important and always tries to help you understand different concepts. All in all, she's a real gem and a great professor.
Jenny she is very clear and make understand the lecture and very helpful in her office hours.
Frustrating. Don't be fooled by the good reviews, it's sink or swim in this class if you don't have strong math comprehension skills. She makes exam questions more complex than the ones practiced in class. She skips steps expecting you to understand her logic. Asking her for help doesn't really do much.
i took her after reading her reviews but i was sorely disappointed. it truly is a sink or swim class with her, especially because she overcomplicates her quizzes and exams. they are nowhere near a reflection of the homework and in-class practice. i'd highly recommend finding someone else to take this class with.
Her lectures and handouts are great! I recommend going to her office hours, she's good at explaining. HW is harder than the packets and exams. But exams are 60% of your grade, but it's a lot easier than the homework and she gives good review packets. She also marks what you did wrong so you can study past quizzes/tests. Hard class, good professor.
I love Jenny, I wish I could have her for all of my math classes. Her only downside would be the excruciating amount of homework and then only making them worth 10% of the grade. You could pass without doing any of the homework and I think that's not fair to those who spent hours on it still getting a C just for the test grades. I still love her.
Genuinely hate how well she taught because it raised my bar of expectations for my future classes. Only real complaint is that she's very nitpicky with how she grades, one of those teachers that will mark you off for not putting an equal sign.
One of the nicest and most helpful professors I've ever had. She prints out note packets for the entire class that are easy to follow along with during lectures. The homework is very reasonable and directly correlates with the quizes and exams.
Take the green reviews with a grain of salt. Yes she is nice and she explain the concept very well but like the red reviews has stated its a sink or swim. She made her test more difficult by adding more indepth question, trick questions, and added more advanced concept that she has never taught to the class.
Professor Jenny is clear and engaging. Lectures are informative, though attendance is mandatory. Homework can be time-consuming but helpful. unstuck AI was a useful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a challenging but rewarding class.
Professor Jenny really cares about your learning. She is a sweet woman who puts in the effort to reach all of her students. If you are having difficulties, she has ample office hours. Would recommend and take again for any math class.
