He is one of my favorite professors so far. He is so nice and really cares if you do well, even in a class with 250 students. He gives an online homework every week or so which is an easy 100 and also an in class online activity which you have to go to class for. Exams are fair if you study. Definitely take him!
I would highly recommend Professor Schubert for Econ 101. His power points are very textbook driven which makes them easy to follow. He is a funny and caring guy that will always take time to help you and he always responds to his emails. He is a fair grader and his practice exams are very close to the real thing. He also has great fashion sense
Jens is the boy. He explains everything really well and if you don't understand something and ask, he will explain it you in detail. Hes a good guy and always looking out for his students. If you apply yourself, you will do fine.
I love professor Schubert! Economics can be a very dry subject but his lectures were pretty helpful. He keeps you involved by asking LearningCatalytics questions to answer on your computers during class. Overall he cares about his students and wants you to get a good grade. Just make sure you study and complete homework assignments every week!
my favorite professor so far. the class is not easy but its not too hard either.
Jens is my favorite teacher. His homework helps you learn everything and is a great grade booster. His exams are straightforward and if you understand his homework you'll do well on the exams. He changes his method of teaching and how rigorous he covers each topic based on you answers to the in class questions. He's a great teacher.
Schubert is a decent professor. He gives lots of problem sets which benefit you as long as you get 15/20 or above. There's a midterm and a final. BEWARE: HE CLAIMS HIS FINAL IS CUMULATIVE BUT IT'S DEFINITELY NOT! Also, make sure you understand partial derivatives. Registrar says you only need ECON101, but you need a little calc.
Class was okay. I wrote down almost every word Jens said and I think I missed one class the entire semester. I also probably missed one or two homework assignments and got pretty good scores majority of the time. However, 30% of the grade is determined by the final which sucks a lot.
I really liked Schubert. He tries to be as fair as he possibly can with grading and work. His powerpoint lectures are easy to understand, and he provides a good amount of helpful resources to learn. There is online homework and in-class participation. Overall, great professor and has a slight German accent (if you care). You can't complain.
Jens is a great guy in general. He cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to be happy. There is a homework assignment once a week that is an easy 100 and 20% of your grade. 10% of your grade is participation so go to class. Jens is very understanding and changes things around to accommodate the students. Take him!!
Required to take his class, was surprised with how well he taught it. Good amount of homework but it helps you learn. Have to go to class because of clicker-like questions. Tests are a lot of your final grade, last one is cumulative.
Macro is a hard subject, but Prof. Jens does his best to make it understandable. Enjoy his lectures, easy to follow. Very fair grader. He does give a lot of online homework, but it's fairly easy & it's 20% of your final grade & he gives out extra credit. Gives clicker-like questions during lectures that are 10% of final grade so don't skip class.
Jens Schubert is my favorite man. Our class applauded/cheered for him before taking the final. The class was an easy A if you follow his notes. You also log onto a website and answer questions throughout class to get credit for being there. He is the sweetest guy ever and really wants his students to succeed. I'm taking him again this semester!!!
Jens is the man. He really cares about his students success. He was always ready to help. Do the extra credit homework because those really make a difference on your grade, exams were 40 multiple choice questions and the final was cumulative but he used a lot of old questions.
Great teacher. For me his class was an Easy A if you read textbook before coming to class. His lectures are just him explaining the textbook, but it really helps drive the concepts home. Give yourself ample time to do the MyEconLab online homework (use HelpMeSolveThis button if you need help, it gives answer). There are clicker questions in class
Usually a MyEconLab hw assignment due every week, but it just reenforces the topics that he goes over in his lectures. He uses Learning Catalytics for participation in class and you will probably have a tough time getting a grasp on the concepts on the exams/hw assignments if you don't go to class so it's important that you don't skip.
He's a good professor and knows his stuff. It says only econ101 as a prereq but you will need to know some calculus (integrals, anti-diff). Problem sets as homework given often. Attendance is not mandatory but there is a participation grade. Doesn't explain everything so he gives handouts for you to learn on your own. Exams are big.
Really chill and nice guy. Explains everything very clearly, and the exams are fair and easy if you only follow along in class. No need to take notes everything you need to know is on his slides. Definitely come to class though, attendance and participation is part of the grade. You can drop 1/3 exams if you don't do well. Gives extra credit.
I had to take ECON101 as a major requirement and I'd definitely take it with Jens again. Jens is very reasonable and wants to see his students succeed. He assigns homework (a lot of it), however its an easy grade-booster and helps you learn the material. He uses LearningCatalytics as attendance but also uses it to teach. All info. is on his slides
First things first, he's German & has the accent to prove it. Anyway, this is an economics class obviously, & you either like economics or you don't. I liked his class a lot, there was online homework outside of class but they were easy A's. The tests are all multiple choice & again it's economics so you need to study if you're not confident.
The perfect example of a professor who has an excellent background in the subject who cares a great deal for this students.
Schubert can really make a complicated subject like economics be simple and somewhat entertaining at 8am in the morning. 'Nuff said.
Exams are half multiple choice problem solving and half open ended (usually 2 questions is 100pts). Getting a C+ is a lot of effort. You either get it or you don't get it. HW is sometimes easy, sometimes impossible. But he is always there for office hours. Use them.
he is horrible. the class is boring and you will want to fall asleep everyday. he is a difficult grader and doesn't know how to explain things. I tried making a meeting with him because I was lost in the class and he refused.
Jens is the boy. Good grader. Easy opportunity to get points on DSM and MEL. Pay attention/do study plans for the exams and should be fine.
nice professor, all you need is attend class and get good grade
Best person ever! Even though it's a big lecture he makes class really fun. Really appreciates when people pay attention to him. The exams can be tough but if you study and pay attention you should do fine. 2 exams and a final, homework during the week that is an easy A and is helpful. He is from Germany and has such a cool accent.
Jens was the man. He did a great job of explaining the material and everything he lectured about was important. He made the class interactive and occasionally showed videos to make it less drab. The exams weren't easy, but if you do the homework, do the practice questions, and dynamic study modules, you'll do fine.
Jens is one of the best professors I've had. There are 2 exams and a final but they aren't tough if you study. His notes are great and does what he can to help his students understand. Homework is very easy and also helpful. I would definitely take him again he's one of the coolest professors
Mr. Schubert is honestly a great Econ teacher. I learned a great amount from him. If you go to class and study over the semester you will be fine. His two exams were pretty difficult, but manageable. The HW he assigns really helps and he always wants what's best for his students!
Really great professor, as long as you keep up with the class he gives you everything you need to get an A. Lots of homework assignments but they prepare you for the test, helpful in office hours, interesting material. Asks clicker questions, 2 exams and a final, and homeworks with every chapter. Great professor!
Most caring professor I've had so far. He makes lectures an interactive as possible but everything he says is right out of the book. There's a homework assignment due before each class but it helps you learn the material and isn't that hard.
Jens is very prepared for lectures but doesnt stick to his own schedule, gives learning catalytics quizzes every class, is rude to students who ask questions, and frequently makes mistakes on the online homework assignments.
Good professor, but he makes the class so unbelievably hard. Exams are hard no matter how much you read and study.
exams are impossible. Great teacher, and very funny, but does not prepare the class well enough for exams. The class averages on all the exams are C's and D's and doesn't seem to realize that it's because the exams are too difficult. I would take him again because he does teach well and make classes interesting, but you just have to put in the work
Jens is a great professor! Definitely my favorite at Delaware so far. Make sure to go to class and actually pay attention because the class is very difficult but definitely a great professor and your best option. Go to his office hours and sit near the front so he gets to know you!
Hard class but Jens is one of the best professors. Have to work to do well but a good grade is achievable. He does have a lot of online homework assignments but they can bring your grade up. He also has 2 exams and a cumulative final. Tough class no matter what but a good choice.
Do not take Jens if you want to get a good grade in econ. He teaches a huge lecture hall and it's so hard to pay attention and actually learn. No matter how hard you study his exams are impossible and the averages are always really low. I would never recommend Jens to anyone.
Even though intermediate micro isn't a prereq good luck without it. He zooms through all of intro micro AND most of the concepts I learned in intermediate and then just put it in a energy example. All tests are completely short answer, some of his homeworks were papers that took many hours but worth the same as econ math based homework. Ton of work
ECON 103 is definitely not an easy A; you have to work for it. However, I've had Mr. Schubert for both micro and macroeconomics, and he's definitely been helpful whenever I had questions understanding the material. He answers emails quickly and is always helpful during office hours. You have to study and go to his classes to to get a good grade!
Uses Learning Catalytics instead of clickers for questions during his lectures. InQuizitive and Smartwork5 homework every week to help understand the material and practice for exams. Exams are hard but he doesnt hesitate to curve and gives extra credit opportunities, and lecture questions on Learning Catalytics help boost your final grade.
Professor Schubert was one of the best professors I have ever had. He honestly cares about his students. For example, one of the midterm exams, many people did poorly on the exam and he offered a makeup exam; which why I received a high grade. The course does contain homework and reading but it benefits you. If you take Econ103, pick Schubert!!!!
Jens' office hours are awful. He teaches 3 sections in a 300 seat lecture hall so its hard to ask questions in class. His office hours are one at a time which is good, except for the Line out his door and around the corner. Also, once you wait your turn he tries to shuffle you out of his office after one question like you're a sheep.
I think he really does want everyone to succeed but I was having a hard time and emailed the TA for some help with some problems we were assigned and then he assumed I was asking him to give me the answers followed by an email from Jens telling me to use the online tools instead of asking the TA to do it for me. Huge disappointment.
This class really triggers stress and anxiety, for me at least. The exams are so hard and he doesn't offer a lot of help nor does his TA . He stressed that there are "online tools" to help, but we all know that's not the same. If you don't get it in class, you won't get it online either so be prepared for a lot of independent learning.
Compared to other professors, the tests are more difficult. The questions are very theory based and don't really have any definition ones. The tests are also too hard for a 100 level econ course. He is a good professor and wants everyone to succeed, but the constant lecture questions are annoying and don't help with understanding the material.
Easy lecture, hard exam! He is pretty interesting Professor, and you will not feel boring in his class. But the difficulty of the exam is far beyond what is taught in class. You need to spend more time than other students in other session of ECON 101 to achieve a satisfactory grade.
If you can read into his crazy analogies, he is by far the best professor you will ever have. Even though his exams are on the harder side, he still makes the class interesting and is able to break down his methods well. Aside from the academics, he tries so hard to make you a better student, not just in his class but overall.
Schubert is the GOAT, he gives extra credit, and his lectures clarify the hard topics in the textbook.
Jens is a cool guy with a nice accent .. Attend class and you will pass, assignments are online and there are 2 exams + final. You can pass with an A as long as you attend and take notes
Jens is awesome! He really cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. There is a lot of work but it is really not that bad. Jens gives out extra credit and is available for extra help. We also do a lot of practice problems in class. I would definitely take this class. Econ is hard no matter what so you might as well have a good professor.
Schubert is the best Professor at the University of Delaware. He drops the lowest exam and gives tons of extra credit. If you read the textbook and follow along with the lectures, you will get at least an A-. His lectures are funny, and Learning Catalytics work in your favor. Highly recommend!
Great Professor. You will never be bored in his class. Has a cool German accent and really understands the material. If you pay attention and do the homework you will do fine. His lectures are interesting and normally funny.
Good lectures make for a great class, but definitely not the easiest professor for 101. You'll do well if you pay close attention to the lectures and read the textbook. There's a fair amount of online homework but it's all helpful. His exams are definitely tough but his grading system really encourages you to do better. Really funny and respected.
If you know nothing about econ going in and aren't a business major STAY AWAY. In lecture he makes it seem so simple especially in the beginning but once exams come it's practically impossible. Very difficult class to study for.
No matter what you do exams are impossible. Best way to study is practice exams that he releases the answers to the night before. A lot of homework, expects a lot of devoted time to his class, every class theres 'pop quizzes' called learning catalytics that no one knows how to answer.
Did not teach the class well at all. Material easy but exams are hard.
Professor Schubert was a very good guy. Loved to crack jokes to keep it interesting. There is a lot of homework, but If you pay attention in class it should come easy. Participation is a good percentage of the grading scale, but going to class will help you with every aspect.
I took him for both 101 and 103, I am finding that 103 is incredibly easy with him compared to 101. 101 tests were very tricky, 103 is I would say almost too easy. However, this could be because it is during winter session. He is a good professor, it is important that you read the textbook and do mylab for practice. Would recommend for both classes
Honestly the best economics professor you can have. 2 midterms and a final, lowest midterm is dropped if final is better. Uses Learning Catalytics instead of clickers for participation. Plenty of extra credit opportunities and is super caring and approachable. Take his class if given the chance, you won't regret it.
Jens Schubert is a good teacher that teaches in a way that his students will understand the material. Macroeconomics is not necessarily difficult and if you put the effort in and pay attention in class you will do fine with Mr. Schubert. His German accent also makes class less boring.
Jens definitely expects a lot out of his students, but it's so worth it to take Econ with him. I had him for micro as well and he was awesome for both classes. He gives a lot of work but it really helps your grade. As long as you show up to class and do the homework he will like you. Econ is a tough subject but Jens is so helpful.
he is a very nice man. however his exams are extremely hard and sometimes the homework can be quite difficult. print out his slides that he post and take notes on that, he hates laptops. clicker points and mandatory attendance. he gave lots of extra credit this semester. the class in general can be hard but he is a good professor and tries to help
Econ is a difficult subject no matter what so I think he is the best choice. His grading policy is very lenient. An A or a B is doable and he has the notes available for you to print before class and you fill in the blanks and add extra information as he lectures. Take notes from the homework assignments! I will be taking ECON103 with him too.
Good, but not a great professor. Did not answer questions I had via e-mail, he said he would address them in class but never did. His lectures are good. Tests are tricky and no matter how hard I studied, could not get an A grade. He is very clear about how your grade is calculated so there are no surprises. He will improve in time.
As Delaware classes go online the fast decline of quality of classes. Professor Schubert is by far the worst online professor I have. He still thinks we are still in Purnell, half of the information that he explains isn't on the slides and the slides never work. Not a bad professor but I think about how much I hate him more than econ when I attend.
I love this man. If you show effort and go to the office hours he will really help you out. However, if you don't put the effort in or are rude in class or anything like that he WILL go off on you. Definitely not an easy class if you've never taken econ before but his lectures are clear and he gives extra credit
Jens is a good professor. He teaches the material well; the thing is his personality and grading. He is an awfully arrogant guy and has said to people in class that they will fail life just because they didn't understand certain concepts. He has no patience for misunderstanding, at least in my class. His grading policy involving LC is bad as well.
Had Jens for both 101 and 103. You really have to pay attention in class to understand the material, and if you don't understand something make sure to use the online textbook to understand the material or you will fall behind. So much homework but it really helps you understand the material so make sure to actually do it. I thought he was nice
If you did not do well in micro and taking this course I do not recommend him. He no longer uses clickers, he uses a new attendance website so you have to go to every class and get more points only if you get the questions right. I found him rude and arrogant as well.
Schubert really makes you work hard for a good grade. He wants everyone to do well but the material is extremely difficult. He is extremely arrogant but he held a lot of office hours. Doesnt use Iclickers, instead he uses pearson learning catalytics. Most of those questions were difficult.
I took Jens for micro and macro. Honestly was the best decision I made. If you took him for micro and did good his policies are basically the same for macro. I took macro during the Rona so my grade was a B, but he bumped me up to an A-! I think it was because he knew me from office hours in micro and I went to review sessions for macro. Love him.
Jens is a beast had him for ECON freshman year, kinda missing the easy classes ECON 101 was a breeze
Lectures have participation points built in, so definitely would want to attend for those points. Other than that, you take notes and have an assignment for each chapter and then after a few chapters you have an exam. He is super funny and nice, and tries to make material interesting. I just signed up for ECON103 with him in the spring too!
Professor Schubert is awesome! This is definitely a course that you need to work at to receive an A, but there are lots of opportunities to earn extra credit and practice skills. He always puts on practice exams and 20% extra credit on exams, which I hope he will continue after this semester.
He is an amazing professor really knows what hes talking about. He puts a lot of effort into teaching his class and expects you to put an equal effort into doing well. Although his class is a lot of work and can be very challenging, he is the best professor Ive ever had. He really makes you work for your grade
Great class! I recommend you read the chapter before lectures. Homework's were 30 questions. Practice exams were very helpful to check what you know. He is very understanding/fair and built in extra credit into the exams. He responds to emails quickly. The class can be challenging but he was great. I'm taking him again next semester for Econ 103.
Dr. Schubert is a great professor, but a little arrogant. He's knowledgeable about economics and his lectures are interesting. There were lots of assignments, exams made up most of your grade and the grading scale was a little confusing. He curved at least one exam, dropped your lowest exam grade and homework assignment which I appreciated.
He's not a bad professor, and it's clear he knows what he's talking about, but his attitude is super arrogant. His email responses are a bit passive aggressive and it seems he likes talking about econ more than he likes teaching it. I think he's genuinely intelligent, but not my fav. Also, his accent is. bit hard to understand sometimes.
Jens Schubert has an incredible background in economics, however, he lectures expecting his students to be as familiar with the material as he is. He can be very arrogant and rude if you don't instantly grasp the material. Exams often did not reflect what was learned in class, and made up a large percentage of your final grade. Do not recommend.
I heard great things about this professor prior to taking this class. Granted, they were students from his ECON101 class. Jens has proficient knowledge in economics. With that being said, he is a bit arrogant when people do not pick things up automatically. His exams do not fully match up with his teachings and the MyLabs.
He will ignore you if you ask a question in class. Sounds like Jim Moriarty from Sherlock.
This class was not well taught at all. Jens is a good guy but the way he teaches this course wasn't effective. He goes very fast with every lecture and with his accent, sometimes I really don't know what he's saying. Being online didn't help either. I will say though that the tests were on lockdown browser so I used socratic which saved me.
Professor Schubert isnt a bad teacher but the way the class works just isnt right. Theres an online homework website, and he offers extra credit on tests but other that hes a pretty average professor
Schubert's class is very lecture heavy and he calls on people during class (really helpful during office hours); you really have to work for your grade. There are four exams and the final is worth 25% of your grade. He gives extra credit for every exam which has really saved me.
Prof. Schubert can sometimes come across as arrogant, but he gives you every chance to succeed in his class. His extra credit on exams is very helpful in getting a good grade. Textbooks and lectures are well organized, and If you do the work you will have no problem getting an A. TAKING NOTES BEFORE CLASS IS KEY!!
There was redacted notes which made it easy to follow along during class. The homeworks were long but doable. Exams can be challenging but as long as you study you will do fine.
Professor Schubert is great at explaining his lectures. It helps if you read the textbook before class. The tests are not too bad as long as you study and pay attention in class. He also offers extra credit. Overall Professor Schubert is a great guy and made this class very enjoyable.
The Professor knows the material well and has great power points for lectures. Definitely cant miss a day! There is opportunities for extra credit, which saved me so many times- Only available extra credit is the practice exams. But I felt as though the exams had nothing to do with the practice exams and were harder than they had to be.
Tons of extra credit. Best layout to a course
If you want extra credit go somewhere else.
Jens was hard in Econ 101 but in Econ 103 he was more caring and considerate. There was built in XC for exams and two bonus questions at the end
Nice professor. Just quite difficult. Discussions were long and inconvenient. Miss a class, you're screwed for that material. Exams weighed heavy and somewhat difficult. Personable in class but hard to learn from. Rude about syllabus policies.
This professor is very knowledgeable and funny in lectures so this class was never too boring. The exams are not too bad as he gives practice exams for each chapter which are similar. Homework is not too bad either and this professor gives lots of extra credit. Should be pretty easy to get an A in this class.
Schubert is definitely the best ECON prof! The material no matter who the prof is can be hard but Schubert gives very clear grading criteria, extra credit, practice exams, and curves. He is knowledgeable and wants his students to succeed. Please ignore the negative comments, and take him for any of his classes!
boring lectures. all exams are multiple choice but are hard to understand the different concepts
econ is hard but he makes it better, still a hard class but a good professor
Very good.
His lectures were always funny especially for an early class. It's obvious he wants all of his students to succeed. Gives extra credit before and after the exams.
Schubert is a really fun guy, although econ101 is a pretty hard class he tries to make sure everyone is on the path to success. I was really sick one week and he sent an email to check up on me because I sat front row and he noticed I wasn't there. I would recommend sitting up front in this class he makes it more fun and interactive.
Jens lectures were very informing and I would definitely take him again. For homework we had MyLabs one every 1-2 weeks that took maybe an hour to complete. His exams are worth 600 points but he gave us chances to earn like 100 extra points added on.
Professor Schubert is definitely the best ECON101 teacher. He gives so much extra credit on his exams which can curve your grade by 15-20% depending on how good you do on the extra credit practice exams. He also has funny lectures and generally is passionate about the subject and wants his students to learn.
Prof Schubert is a great teacher for this course. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and he gives a ton of extra credit for his tests. The material is hard to grasp but he makes it as easy as possible.
Prof Schubert is an interesting guy and a good enough professor. It's a lot of reading on your own and key is to have a general grasp of material from the textbook before you come to class. You cannot miss class though or it will make life a bit more challenging. He does want you to succeed and provides opportunity for extra credit on exams.
ECON101 is hard, but there's no one at UD who can teach it better than Prof. Schubert. The Learning Catalytics exercises were helpful in understanding the material, extra credit offered on exams, and homework effective to reinforce learning. Lectures were at times overwhelming, but Schubert's stories and in-class music made it enjoyable to attend.
Ignore any reviews that say anything bad about Professor Schubert. This professor has given so many extra credit opportunities on exams and added a 5% to our final grade so for all the students who did bad in the course, take responsibility for not putting effort. This professor did everything for his students to succeed and care about our learning
He truly cares about his students and helping them receive the best grade possible. So much possible extra from practice exams and just reviewing the exams. Must attend class because online questions are asked for points. Read the textbook because it helps and supplements. Challenging course but manageable if you use the resources provided to you.
Schubert is mainly what you would expect out of a fairly hard class, though he does try his best to give you all the info. Despite that many times I walked away from the lecture remembering nothing and having to teach myself. Though grading policy and extra credit opportunities made it up for some of the struggles of having to teach myself content.
This professor gives a lot of extra credit, so as long as you study the books, you can get an A on the exams. Just make sure you understand the material you study
He teaches well, but I don't want to take him again.
Schubert is a great and funny professor. He makes his expectations clear, and really wants to see his students succeed. Tests and a midterm with homework every so often. Definitely study if you never took AP Micro. Offers a lot of extra credit for the tests. Only issue is he explains things in a way that's hard to understand, so study.
prof Schubert is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. hes sorta confusing in lecture but the textbook/discussion sessions help w that. he enforces reading the textbook w/ chapter reading quizzes in class-which pays off on exams ngl. he offered soooo much extra credit and the exam was really fair. great professor!!
Professor Schubert was my favorite professor when I took him in the 2022 fall semester. He makes his ECON 101 class interesting, it was never boring. Exams are a little difficult as he does word his questions weirdly. He gives a ton of extra credit though which helped me a lot.
Professor Schubert is one of the worst people in Delaware. He could care less about his students and is a terrible human being. He thinks he's a great person, but he is really just a lonely loser. Never take his class he is probably a pedofil.
This class is paired with a discussion, but the discussions are helpful and teach exam material. If you go to class and actually try on the homework, the class isn't too hard. He gives a ton of extra credit to boost exam scores and also drops the lowest exam grade.
Jens is one of the best professors at UD. He knows how to connect with his students and makes learning fun. Extra credit offered for every exam, but you probably will need to study quite a bit still.
Jens is awesome! I went to every class and just followed along taking notes with his lectures and felt like I didn't have to study much since he explained it well. Attendance is mandatory and a huge part of the grade.
Prof Schubert is top tier. Gives lots of extra credit on exams. Very passionate about economics and wants to see his students succeed. You have to put in the work if you want to do well though as it is a difficult class.
Take him for Econ 101...! If you give effort and study you'll finish with an A. It's a hard subject to learn and It's going to take time grinding and studying it to be successful. but this man offers enough extra credit to boost you 2 letter grades. 5/5 Take him..!
Schubert is a passionate professor. Classes and tests aren't too hard, make sure you go to class and study a bit. He is very passionate though (emphasis on that, dives very deeply into microeconomics lol. Be prepared to be called out in class if you aren't on your information. Good Professor though
Easily the best professor I've had at Delaware. Really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Also gives A LOT of Extra Credit.
Schubert is great at taking his time with the pacing of lectures and helping you understand. The print outs for class are really helpful for taking notes. He also drops the lowest grades for assignments and tests. The study questions he provides are extremely similar to the tests and are counted for extra credit if you get them right.
Jens is a great professor! Although is class is extremely challenging and is a lot of work. He really wants you to succeed. The class size is always large, therefore if you need help go meet with him in his office. He would be happy to help. He has a clear syllabus and the homework really helps boost your grade. His exams are a bit challenging.
JENSSSSSSSS!!!! Hes a great professor and made Microeconomics a lot more enjoyable. Im a big gym guy so his references in class really got my attention. The lectures are not boring because he has his own way of teaching using pop up questions on learningcatalytics The homework are incredibly time-consuming and difficult but Jens offers extra credit
He is not bad in terms of teaching and if you really put in the work you could do well in the class. But in terms of how he is as a person I cannot respect him. He doesn't respond to questions that are asked to him unless he deems them "important" and doesn't and lectures us about these questions we ask. The whole idea is that we are learning!
Jens is the goat for real. His lectures were heavy but he cared to know that his students were keeping up with his content. The hw was a little boring but it definitely pads your grade. The extra credit makes all the difference - do it.
Jens is a awesome professor. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures can be rather long but he does a great job of explaining material and if you have any questions he will always answer. Exams are difficult but having extra credit makes a huge difference. Overall awesome professor
Professor Schubert has been my favorite professor so far. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Do the work he assigns and attend lectures and you'll do fine. He also gives lots of extra credit for exams which helps a lot.
Prof Schubert is super fun and wants his students to succeed. Don't use your phone in class or he will go on a 20 minute lecture about how you're destroying your learning. Attendance is absolutely mandatory and he will call you out if you try to log onto the LearningCatalytics without being there. Must go to discussions. Read the textbook!!!
Jens made me love economics. Lots of people seem to struggle with this class, so ask for help if you need it. He will help you! Lectures are clear with redacted notes given. Exams are hard, but you get generous extra credit for doing practice exams. You're expected to have decent math skills going into the course. Don't forget to read the textbook!
Interesting guy. He's a good teacher. Wants you to apply yourself outside of the classroom. Exams aren't too bad. Can't stress enough to go to class. He has you print out packets for notes and doesn't post them online. Never went to office hours but I'm sure he's very helpful. Highly recommend.
Prof. Schubert was the best professor I've had at UD. His lectures are very entertaining and easy to learn from, his homework and exams are difficult but easy if you study. He gives out lots of extra credit and is a great guy overall.
Lectures felt like high school (he has a pretty strict no phone/no technology policy), provided redacted notes to print and follow along with in class. It was sometimes helpful, but other times he would not post the notes until 9 pm the day before class. Otherwise pretty funny and liked his teaching style, I learned a lot.
What you see is what you get with Schubert, he is there to teach a class, not be your friend. He is a little dry/intimidating, but his teaching style really worked for me. The people saying he was a bad teacher probably didn't put in the work inside and outside class to do well. Stay on top of assignments, sit next to the right people, and study.
I got sick during the semester and was physically in the hospital, prof. Schubert basically told me to figure it out. He also posted a HW due during finals week, that I didn't see so my grade dropped before the final. Yes, the effort you put in will reflect the grade you get, but he lost so much respect from me after my hospital visit.
I took Schubert last spring, but definitely recommend him. Great teacher, I got a C+ because I barely tried. I remember I didn't have my notes one time and he walked up the stairs stared me down and took that infamous Schubert deep breath. Hands down the funniest teacher I ever had.
He wouldnt even use his own rules in his own syallbus
This class had a very rigorous and challenging work load. Also tests are most of your grade.
Took his class two times. failed the first time because I only went to half of the lectures. Barely missed out on an A the second time and went to every lecture. Its not a hard class if you just show up and take the time to study for the exams. Gives you extra credit and drops your lowest exam score
This professor could care less about anyone and its very upsetting. He cares more about lecturing you oon phones rather then the actual econ 101 class. It is very sad how bad of a professor he is. Can care less if you fail that class and could care less how you feel. 0/1000000 NEVER TAKE HIM EVER!!!
Professor Schubert is definitely a tough professor, but of you attend all the classes and follow the course plan, his class is one of the best. He does single people out often in lectures so don't be late or try to get away with something. He provides amazing extra credit if you put in the work and gives students lots of study resources.
Schubert is the best professor I've had at UD! First of all, he gives 12.5% of extra credit on EVERY exam just for taking the practice quiz. As long as you come to class and pay attention, you will do well! He can be unhinged lol but he cares about the students and just wants us to learn! You do have to print out notes for his class but it's nbd.
Schubert is an all work no play type of guy. Very serious and everything you could ask him is already in his syllabus that he adores so much. Just print out the guided notes, take them down, and really pay attention in his lectures because the exams are really hard. No point in telling him you wont make it, he won't care either way.
One of the best UD professors. Micro is a hard concept and he does an excellent job at giving materials to prepare for exams and makes it possible to get a great grade. Extra credit, generous attendance grade, practice exams very accurate to the actual exams, review sessions, etc.
This class was difficult and stressed me out. He would give us questions during class that you had to answer online and if you got them wrong it brought down your grade. He also made us sit in certain select rows and TAs were walking around to make sure you arent on your phone. You are also not allowed to use your computer in class to take notes.
Professor Schubert can be a bit intense, but his class is manageable if you put in the work. Definitely use unstuck ai and the free textbook to ace the exams.
Really knowledgeable but strict about phones, he stopped class a few times to call out students who went on their phones. Lectures were a little boring sometimes, but they were really helpful, and the discussion classes helped too. He offered extra credit for every exam. If you put in the work and pay attention, you'll do fine.
Dr. Schubert is intense, but if you keep your phone away during class to avoid his scrutiny, he can be really entertaining. Uses Pearson MyLab for homework. Offers extra credit on exams for taking the practice test, which is in your best interest anyway because it was the best way to study for the exams. Attendance is mandatory.
Do not take this class!! He's not horrible, but the content is actually so difficult; this is the only class I didn't get an A in. Grades are entirely based on exams, the only saving grace is the extra credit, which barely helps.
The worst class dont take it. The tests are so hard and its basically all your grade. gives extra credit that barley helps. basically have to be at every class. sit next to the right people. a lot of questions in class that affects ur grade. dont reccomened taking this class. im basically almost failing it
All work no play type of guy. Overall had a good experience. Gives 100 extra points of extra credit on 800 point exams if you do practice quizzes which is a large percentage. One weekly homework assignment. Strict on phones but only because he wants you to learn. DISCUSSIONS HELP SO MUCH. Very knowledgable and a pretty funny guy.
Just not a very considerate guy. He's not horrible and you can for sure pass his class but if its between him and someone like Olena Berchuck take her, she's so much more approachable and way better at explaining difficult topics. He's just too cut and dry in my opinion and doesn't make the material any more digestible.
Great Professor, genuinely cares about student success. Extra credit on the exams if you do the practice.
Easy class, boring structure. Very middle of the road professor. Wasn't an amazing teacher, but in all honesty, it doesn't matter too much. ECON101 is one of the easiest classes at UD.
