Quick, get into anyone else's class!
not fluent in the english language
I agree, not fluent in English. Tests are too difficult for someone who reads examples out of the book. I concur, not prepared; she appears confused sometimes.
A disaster of a class. About 1/3 of the class was cheating on the tests. Had no idea about how to teach. Her bad english was bad, but the least of her troubles.
College Math suppose to be easy. But she made hard for everyone. She gave horrible exams with mistakes, and that why people were failing. She has very confusing accent. But felt sorry for her.
Accent is too confusing. Impossible to follow examples. You'd be better off teaching yourself right out of book. I recommend a tutor if you have to take her. -Good Luck!
If no one understands a subject he says *I will make question on test.* Right after covering a topic she says *I make a quiz,* and it's on that subject that she just covered. Does not allow calculator in DE - that's crazy!
SHE IS UNPREPARED, U CANT FOLLOW WHAT SHE SAYS GOES SO FAST LIKE U R IN A KUNG FU CLASS. DEMANDS ALOT OF HW AND HER EXAMS ARE HARD, SHE THINKS THAT SHEz TEACHING MATH MAJOR STUDENTS AND THAT SHE WILL INVENT A LEGENDARY MATH STUDENT.
Well, she has accent, but not too strong. I understand what she says. If you are good at Math, you can pass her class with a A. But you need to spend time study for this class.
If you have problems with people with accents and plus your not very good in math...I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!...RUN THE OTHER WAY!
like a ninja, she shows no mercy
This woman needs to be in an ENGLISH class! When you ask her a question, she laughs and answers you with something totally off topic because she has NO IDEA what you are saying! She says "uh" all the time like she is in a rap video.
She seems passionate about teaching, and that is hard time find in this college professors. Her English does suck, but she will more the willing to help you if you ask for it.
She is a nice person at heart but doesnt need to be teaching college algebra. She does say "uh" alot. She teaches the problems that are already explained in the book. and he tests are nothing like wat she teachs. HARD TESTS!! our 1st class averag
oh my Gosh! she is the worst teacher in the whole world. She does not teach but put confusion in students brain, you better close your eyes or else you will start speaking just like her.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY UHD IS ALLOWING THIS WOMAN TO CONTINUE TO TEACH. YOU CAN NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF HER MOUTH!!!!HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

It's hard to learn from a professor that cannot speak proper English. Her tests are HARD, she assigns a LOT of HW, and all she does in class is do the examples in the book! I could do that at home! She doesn't need to be teaching at ALL. Take Hodgess inst
definitely needs to take an english course. i didn't understand her. but in the end you will do good. i gues.
She is very goog teacher. Most of the students in her class are stupid enough, even if her lecture is easily, they still can't understand. All they can do just keep complaint.
Nuff said...
she is very nice to help student. You need to put much effort in this class. She is very excited to teach every day with full energy. I like her. Tests is harder than example but if you study you can do it.
Grades fair. Her English is getting better. Do homework and you'll B fine. Memorize which formulas go with which problems.
she is anything but a teacher.she does not speak proper english...all she says is "isn't it"...hard tests...if you have a chance try to avoid it...best way...
I definitely will not recommend this teacher. She will teach out of the book, which I can study at home. Her test are hard because she even would accidently put all the multiple choices as wrong answer. I feel bad for her since she is very nice.

This is one of the worst math profs around. Avoid at all costs!!!!!
I don't think students in her class are just stupid and just complain, that is nonsense. She is really tough, doesn't explain the work, and her English is horrible. If you can get pass her English that would be a first step!! Don't take her!
She can not speak English clearly what so ever!! She is smart, but hard to understand. I would not recommend any student to take her class unless you are already great at Math!
she is as dumb as u can get. she teaches something and gives some thing else in the exams. her accent is terable. i recoment u run from her as far as possible.
She is very knowledge in the understand what is expected from textbook author, but do not share with class. She answers herself which I feel was disruptive. Do not keep appointments when scheduled in advance.
Her english is horrible. She knows statistics but does not know how to teach it. Avoid her at all costs.
I don't recomment to take her class. All my friends I know in class had an average A or B, but she will only give you a "C" in the end if you are not her favorite students. It is not fair. Everybody complain about her...
She does not speak english and she does not allow questions.
Horrible teacher. All she does is teach out of the book, which I could do at home. Her accent makes it a lot harder to understand. Just because she knows what she is talking about, she expects us to know also. Her lectures are boring. Only take this class if you are a math genius.
Language is a problem. In addition, she is way to fast and when you ask her to slow down she does not. I know that I am an "A" student and I dropped her class with a "D". RUN!
English is difficult to understand, and she was a horrid teacher. I only reccomend her if you are fluent in Korean.
Ok, she was hard to understand, but it is an easy class. She knows what she is talking about if you can get past her english. If you have any questions she will answer them but you have to speak up.

If you are not Anglo-American, you will hate her,,,She was very bias and unfair. Many of my friends and I took her class for math 3309.End of semester, some of us got average at least B+, and final was easy, so we all think we did good, but she only gave u a "C". When we went to her office, she said that is too late to discuss it...BitXX, Avoid her
I could consider myself to be a "B" student when it comes to math classes. This professor is helpless unless you can understand thick asian accents go for it... she really messed up my GPA giving me a D ...honestly I did not learn ANYTHING at all i just went off of whatever i could remember in HS algebra.. want a GOOD professor go for Ana Simmons!
Her english is terrible and she teaches very fast making it difficult to learn anything.
I was one of the MANY that dropped her class midway. She gets mad when you ask her questions, she eliminates steps without telling you so it is very easy to get lost. She was very rude and hard to understand. RUN! DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN! She is NOT a Professor.
Very smart knows her math, but does not know how to teach !!!! She make College Algebra Hard as HELL!!!!
Most of the examples she does thine class are incorrect. Grades extremely difficult
She messes up on quite a few problems that she does on the board. Her Assignment sheet says that the test problems will be similar to the assignment problems, but those problems are for not the current book we are using. So, apparently she never got around to update that. Tests are VERY diff. from Book problems. Shes just not a good teacher. Ugh!
SHE IS HORRABLE. Don't even think about taking her. Dr. Yoon does not care if you learn or not, she only cares about covering her required sections. HER TESTS ARE VERY DIFFICULT. Dr. Yoon does not give reviews for test, she gives an outline, but she is a LIER. T
Attend Not Mand but Recom Quiz 1 per wk Test: 3, MC Curved, Final: MC. The material for quizzes, test, and the final was covered in class, the questions were extension of material(concepts) taught in class. English may not be her 1st language but if u listen, try to understand, and ask questions, and do the homework(not mand); you will get an A
She is Ok as long as you do the HW and go see her ask her what do you expect to study for the exam. Her test a little bit long but as long as you work on the problem, she will give you credit for its. She is very understandable.
Goes too fast and doesn't slow down for you. There are no tutorials, you can barely understand her, and she expects you to know it all already. Nice lady but not a good teacher.
Extremely difficult because she has doesn't speak very good english
She does have a heavy accent, but she's nice enough to work up your grade with you. If you're not good at math, please do not take her. You have to give your fullest to this class if you want to pass. Dr. Yoon does go pretty fast, but as long as you tell her to repeat, she will.
I had her for real analysis. Nothing personal she just tries to cover too much material in too short a time. We started with a class of about 40 people by the end of the semester there were 12 people left and I'm sure that five people passed.
TERRIBLE!!! Spare yourself and do not take this professor...extremely thick accent and incompetence in the field of teaching. Nice lady - she just can't teach to save her life.
WARNING: Stay Away! Very likeable and obviously knows her stuff, but horrible instructor. Tries to trick you on exams (great way to teach your students!). At times, one doesn't know whether to try and understand what she's saying through her accent, or try and write down what's on the board. Never slows down. Biggest waste of time and money.
She is a very smart person. But does not have any teaching abilities. She will teach examples from the book, never creating a structured lecture, and pick examples from the homework, and when finishing realize she didnt do it right and restart. This happens quite often. She will confuse you. You have to teach yourself, otherwise you will fail exams
every comment that every on else has says is true. i got an A in her class but she is very unclear when she teaches. i had to teach myself the class.her helpfulness is somewat that how i can describe it. she is very confusin many times. on last exam placed a problem that she did not know that it was dat hard. she does give a "similar" exam review
She is difficult to understand, unprepared, and not helpful. Find another teacher unless you want to teach yourself.
she was ok. I just couldn't understand her
I am usually very tolerant of accents, but her accent is very thick and its EXTRA difficult to understand her. She also stressed definition, maybe more than actual problem solving. You dont use the textbook AT ALL and her class demands are low. Her teaching is below poor, though. Only take her if you know the content beforehand.
Dr. Yoon was very effective but you have to accept the accent. She expects everyone to take a higher level math in the future, so if you just want this out of the way, try someone else.
Very smart knows her math but should not be teaching. I could understand her accent and was able to keep up with her extremly fast lectures but she makes ALOT of mistakes on the board. we kept asking her to explain the problems again she packed up and left lecture 1 of those days she wont go over them. hw&quizzes do not relate to test at all.
I really had a hard time in this class. but if you work hard you'll get the grade you deserve. She is very fair and will work with you if you make an effort. Good Professor!
Dr. Yoon is an excellent professor. She explains concepts clearly and truly wants students to understand the math. I would recommend this professor for college algebra.
She is a horrific Prof. She had so many mistakes on the board while she was teaching class, that when the time came to take the test we all did the questions wrong because of her. I had 20 questions of homework to do every week, and she would only grade the questions she thought that she assigned, Which she couldn't remember half of the time.
Yes, she does have an accent, but she genuinely wants to see you succeed. She isn't going to push you through the system if your not doing the work. She catches a lot of flak on here for having an accent, but she is highly logical, and will practice with you to get you where you need to be. Read the book, do the work, and practice.
Ms.Yoon is going to teach you as if you were attending any other college,so it's not easy just because your at UHD. She is VERY nice, almost too smart and really wants you to learn & understand. The class is not easy and you will need to study. Get the new TI CAS it will help!!
She is nice, her accent is easy to understand. She is VERY smart. BUT she taught way above the our heads, skipped steps & gave crazy hard examples. Then got frustrated when we didn't instantly understand. I spent the summer completely lost! If it hadn't been for tutoring like crazy I would of failed! I will never ever take her for any class again!
HORRIBLE! i am a math fanatic and this teacher almost made ME hate it. admitted that she hadnt even opened a discrete math book in ten years. will NEVER work real problems out on board. only powerpoint. and when you have a question her only response was "you should join a study group". PLEASE STEER AWAY FROM HER.
She had no idea what she is teaching. I seriously doubt how she became a professor. Its such a shame that we have these kinds of professors. She doesn't understand the course material herself but yet she pretends to know it. Every thing she explained was wrong or either not properly expalined
I actually liked her class attend class, do practice problems, and complete my math lab before deadline!... She was very clear with her explanations. Passed the class with a B
I took her class on Fall 2013 semester, she is really nice and explain the problem. Like other says, she got some accent problem, but she's easy teacher, she work the problems with students and make it clear. As long as you do your work, you will be fine. I received A in her class :)
For those who took her class in a lower level setting, she is ok. However, if you care about learning and your GPA, do not take her for an upper level class. She writes the problems from the book on the boar. She does not explain them. I know we all know how to read, what we need is someone to explain what we are reading. She is not that someone.
I have taken this Professor for DE, Linear Algebra and Discrete. She Rocks. Yes she has an accent but if you ask for help she will give it. You must do HW and Class Participation helps out a lot! I would take her again if I could!
She talks and writes faster than the speed of light. I can either pay attention or take notes. She makes mistakes often. Doing the homework helps a lot because you pretty much need to learn on your own, unless you can keep up with her in class. We were assigned a pointless project that needed to be done using a computer software.
Great professor. The most important thing to know is that she will be very happy and enthusiastic to help you, but if you don't ask for help, she will continue the lecture extremely quickly. Don't be shy to let her know when you don't understand. Also, it helps a lot to read the chapter before lecture. Her tests are tough, but grading is lenient.
Took her for precal. Tests are not that tough if you pay attention to example in class and on homework. Participation can definitely help your grade out.
She was the best math professor I've ever taken. Her class was not easy, but not only did she give us examples, she gave us chances to work some examples on the board in class to make sure we understood. Homework wasn't too heavy. PAY ATTENTION TO LECTURES AND DO NOT SKIP CLASS. She is willing to give extra credit too. Remember your algebra skills!
I would NOT recommend her calculus II class. Her lectures are simply her doing problems out of the book, but she does not explain her process very well and tends to make a lot of mistakes. During tests, you have to do the problem the way she showed during class or you have points taken away. Her grade is only quizzes and tests.
If you do not have a strong math background, do not take this professor. She moves on very quickly and does not teach. All she does is work examples on the board and expects students to understand. You have to actually read your textbook, and teach yourself. The only good thing was that she let us work in groups for the quizzes.
I wouldn't recommend her unless you are a Math major or a Physics major who needs/ has a VERY STRONG Algebra background, It's easy to learn the calculus portion on your own but you need to be an expert in a lot of unnecessary algebra to be able to pass with a decent grade. She writes her test so the Cal part will earn you a D and the Algebra an A.
Class was tough. A lot of information so a lot of studying outside of class. But she gave reviews for tests! As long as you understand those, you should be fine.
Tough class, she goes at a very fast pace that if you don't know the material already, you will be left behind trying to catch up.
I took 3317, Actuarial Math (They didn't have that listed) She knows what she is doing, but she teaches INSANELY fast. That maybe how the class was setup, but you have to buy 2 different books, which the 2nd one covered almost exactly what the 1st did. Study Stats and Calc II before you take.
Wouldnt recommend her for cal., shes very fast pace and only goes by the book. You have to have a strong algebra memory and be quick to answer her questions. Participation matters a lot. Be ready to learn on your own. You cant skip class at all.
She teaches way to fast and her accent makes it more difficult to understand. She expects us to clearly memorize college algebra at the top of your head and she doesn't care if u don't. She doesn't have a math-lab for homework assignments which means you have to attend class just to see examples on the board. I don't recommend her at all!
Brush up on algebra and trig skills b4 you take her. If you have to choose btwn taking notes or listening, listen and just take pics of the work with your cell. You have to study outside of class No exceptions! Participate, there is xtra credit when you work out problems on the board. She seems serious, but is a great Prof. Just find her humor.
I took her in the fall semester and it was the WORST class I have ever taken. From the very beginning, she expects you to remember everything you learned from college algebra. She also teaches way too fast with an accent and only writes examples from the book. She doesn't even have an online course for homework so you can practice the content. UGH
I STRONGLY recommend not taking this class, her accent and teaching is terrible. FIND A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!
By far the hardest class I have ever taken! Alot of self teaching, alot of practice necessary. Professor Yoon moves at a very fast pace. Alot of the material was very hard to understand, the speed she had did not help. Test reviews will save you. Participate as extra points given. Very caring Professor, let her know if you need help.
Professor Yoon moves way too fast. If you're good at math this is a good choice if not, avoid. She reviews a lot of college algebra but won't slow down enough for you to catch up, even if you ask her to slow down. She says it's only review we don't have time to slow down, if it's been awhile since college algebra, don't take her.
This professor is not the best for not only slow learners but also for people who struggle with math. This class requires you to pay maximum attention and to really focus on completing all homework assigned.
i do not recommend taking this class if you are struggling on math and has a hard time focusing during class. she uses a lot of problems from the textbook to teach you, and expects you to remember college algebra and basic algebra 2 on the top of your head and will literally get mad at you if you don't.
If you struggle with math I would not recommend taking. She's very fast paced so if you need sometime to understand and learn she is NOT the professor for you. She does give opportunities to get SOME extra points though. She also does expect you to remember stuff from algebra (many of us did not since we took algebra a long time ago).
Dr Yoon is a nice person but not a great teacher. She moves MUCH too fast and, despite using examples from the textbook, adds many extra steps that end up confusing me & other classmate(s). I'm a maths major, I rarely struggle in math, but I'm anticipating failing this class & having to retake it. If you can take this with someone else, do it.
Math 2401 w/Prof. Yoon was overwhelming. She flies through material, making it hard to keep up. Her accent & speed hinder understanding. She's often annoyed & makes discouraging remarks. Being called to the board is intimidating. Homework & quizzes are online, but tough in-person exams. Not recommended unless you're strong in math & can self-study.
I do not recommend this professor. She did not give us enough time to study the reviews. Not to mention she is a tough grader.
The professor's fast pace and accent made the class extremly challenging. It could be a curriculum issue, but as an older student who hasn't taken math in years, I struggled to keep up with the amount of material covered. The class was impossible for me, more time or clarity would have helped greatly.
She's super nice but the class is a mess. It'll take a lot out of you but it's not impossible to pass. She gives some extra credit if she sees you putting in work. She's a very strict grader, at one point even the tutor at the math center got confused by my homework.
Dr. Yoon is one of the best mathematics professors at UHD. Her lectures are clear, easy to understand, and well-organized. Her exams closely mirror the exercises and review materials, making it easier for students to prepare. Dr. Yoon genuinely cares about her students and always takes the time to listen and support them.
Dr. Yoon is an exceptional mathematics professor at UHD. She explains complex topics clearly and structures her lectures for easy understanding. Her exams align with practice problems, making preparation straightforward. She is deeply supportive, and her dedication to student success makes her a truly outstanding educator. Receive an easy grade A.
The teacher is super nice, but her accent makes it so difficult for me and my peers to understand, and as well shes so strict about myPearson assignments. I wish I would've seen her rating before I started taking this class. If you plan on taking this professor, you should teach yourself how to do math problems .
I earned my A though majority self teach. Luckily I had a strong background in pre-calc for the most part but the rest of my class failed all the exams severely. Averages ranging from 30-47. Participation matters, she will ask you to solve problems on the board. She speaks aggressively at the class, 1:1 she is better and willing to help.
