Rude, mocking, unclear, I so couldnt follow him half the time, he expects us to know everything he does and he expect us to spend like all of our time studying for hiss class (hello we are in other classes too) very difficult, hard on attendance too
A very difficult professor. Either you hate him or you feel he's okay. He is very absorbed with the idea that you do his assignments outside the classroom. Tips: BE prepared at all times(it earns points to know your stuff)Be sure to sign the attendance
He's smarter than you and he knows it. You have to read ahead and be ready to participate, but if you say it wrong he'll tell you why and love that you gave it a shot. I never knew the right thing and he built from that and I loved my A in class.

Roberson is one of those teachers that expects us to be college students. yes he expects you to do your work and to come to class prepared. what teacher doesn't? he's a great teacher and explains things well,never say i don't know and always give an answer to his questions. preperation is everything
He isn't clear at all. He doesn't let you know when assignments are due and expects you to read his 100 page syllabus in order to know how his class functions.He doesn't lecture well on the relevant material and is very degrading to students in class discussion.

Very confusing class. He will always help you if you need him. Take advantage of all extra credit it can help your grade alot. Be prepared. He uses the textbook study guide alot.

If you want to sleep all day, take this class! I often sit and wonder what the hell is this man talking about! U will not need the book. Gives extra credit oppurtunities. As far as a teacher, I haven't learned ANYTHING!!!!!! Only good thing is he is an OMEGA (AARRF ARRFF)
Very hard course and does not help you at all. He is also very difficult to understand.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken. He does not cover much of what is in the study guide, and what he does cover, you can't understand hardly anything he is talking about. I don't know anything about the other History teachers, but I would recommend any of them before Roberson.
Very challenging. Most people whine and complain about him but that's only because they opt not to do the work and are lazy. If you're in school to learn then take him. Just make sure to ask questions! That's the most important thing is to show interest. Also, do the essay test.
He is a very challenging teacher but i like him he is cool.
Very challenging and really knows his stuff. If you read the text and keep up with all the assignments, you will be just fine. Lectures may sometimes go off topic, but that sometimes ends up complimenting the material. He also may seem gruff, but he will help you whenever possible. If you just want the "easy A", don't take this class.
Make sure you come to class prepared and everything will be smooth sailing. He also likes to call on people randomly, so read your materials. If you tell him "I don't know" he will be all over you like white on rice! Just ask questions.

OMG!!! What the hell is he TALKING about!!! I never understand him and when you ask a question, he gives you the answer through stories! I'm not his grandchild and I don't care. VERY very confusing. I would have dropped if I could have. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Unless you are a history major and can self-teach yourself history, dont take him. You read the book and then come to class to hear him talk about his grandchildren. Overall find another professor because its very hard to grasp any concept of history without someone teaching it.
This is the best teacher I have ever had! He is challenging, which is exactly what you need to make a history class fun. He is easy to learn from, and will make time for you if you need help. He is willing to answer your questions, even if they not related to the particular class. If you go to school to learn, this is the teacher to take!
This professor was the worst I have ever had. He was very unhelpful and made you look like a fool if you didn't know the answers to his questions. His tests do not come from what he talks about in class. Even if you read the book when you get your test you will wonder where he got his questions. I would never recommend him to anyone!
Roberson is a great teacher. Definitely not a blowoff class. At the beginning of the semester, he makes you sign a contract as to which kind of tests you want to take (mult choice or essay). PICK ESSAY!!! They are take home and are much easier than the mult choice. Ask questions and show him you're interested and that you care and he'll show you an "A". There weren't too many in the middle, you either did well or you didn't.
I did not enjoy this class at all. He makes things about the history class very unclear and yes he does make you sign a contract at the begging of the semester. I strongly suggest that you do not take History from this professor.
Roberson expects students to work at the class. He can piss you off at times but you will learn in his class. Just be prepared to work. The only way to really know the class is to show up to his office hours.
He was very unclear, rambled, and i tried to call him on putting a wrong grade down, and he wouldnt hear of it. If you want to learn something avoid this class, but it didnt have any tests, or a final.
EAsy class. Here's how to get an A. If you don't care, act like you do. Use big words in your essay. If he calls on you, even if you haven't read the material, make up something general like,"the russians wanted to eliminate democracy," even if its not true. Ask general questions and show when work is DUE. makes sure he grades your paper!!!
Dr. Roberson is a different breed of professor. You will begin the semester completely confused about what he wants (what he wants is for you to be responsible for your own learning). If you hang in there and are willing to do the work, the man will make sure you succeed in his class. This class will also change your approach other courses.
He is not a good instructor. He is more interested in hearing himself talk than teaching. He has alot of rules and expectations, that doesn't bother me, what bothered me was he was downright mean, he seemed to enjoy humiliating his students. I would recommend strongly AGAINST taking him. Time to retire Jere!
Very, very difficult, but very good at what he does. I would not recommend him to a freshman, but a history major or someone else with an aggressive interest in the past will probably like him.
I was completely confused the first week, and I'm still confused about it. You absolutely HAVE to read the book because he gives examines every single week. I mean he is a good teacher and all but extremely hard and expects alot out of his students. But what gets me is that we are supposed to know what we don't know... do you get that??
He is really good at teaching. I learned so much more in his class than in any other history class. As for homework and that sort, well it was confusing, and he didn't do much in the way of helping to understand. He left helping students to the students who knew what they were doing, which was a bad idea, because some of them didn't even know.
VERY touch professor! i LOVE history very much and i hated going to this class. He really wants you to learn the material in the text and uses calling on you as a scare tactic of humiliation. i did LEARN so so much and that was my first A in college, but only take if you are a hard worker with a major passion for hostory :)
I never knew what we were doing week to week and never understood what assignments we actually had. I did not know how to do the essays or how it was graded. I would never ever take this class again and would never recommend anybody taking this class. I did not learn anything.
I would not recomind taking him. I am a history major and I didn't enjoy going to class. He and I had some issues(it invloved the roll sheet) and he would be childish and wouldnt let me answer questions to get extra credit even though I knew what we were talking about. Very childish and immature. He also likes to pick on his students

Lectures are worthless as he tends to talk about inane topics rather than the issue at hand. The text is your only hope if you want to know the subject. He was constantly late and picked on students. Worst of all he pushes his own political agenda rather than letting opinions form on their own. This is a man that needs to retire.
I've been through one class with him so far, and I already want to drop it. He couldn't go one class without mentioning three times how evil white southerners are or pushing his political agenda. He's unhelpful and unclear as to exactly what he wants us to do and how he wants us to do it. He rambles on as if he's trying to impress the class.
This class is relatively easy if you don't mind being confused the entire time. Lectures are so rambling that you rarely get anything out of them. Choice of Research paper or book/article reviews for final grade.
I'm not on here because I'm angry with my grade. This is a pointless class to me. I did not learn anything. Do not take if you are a freshman. Study Hard and pick essay because it will end up being essay in the end anyway. Ask questions in class. Be sure to ask the Historical importance of ALL terms! I would not recommend him for anyone.
This class is very confusing. During his lectures, he rambles on about pointless things that have nothing to do with the course. He is not clear on what we are supposed to be doing or what is expected from us. The syllabus is little help, all 50 pages of it. I would not recommend ever taking a class with him.
At first I didn't like him or the class, but as the semester went on he became my favorite teacer and class. I am very glad that he was my teacher for my first semester of college. I learned more about how to make it in college than I did about the actual history class.

I took him for concurrent enrollment and at first he scared me cause I wasn't sure what to expect but in the end he was a great teacher who cares about his subject... as well as his grandson who you may hear a lot about. But overall really good.
This class is a waste of time. I have learned more about his various travels and family than I have about American History. I wish it wasnt too late to drop this class and I highly recommend NOT taking him.

He has an excelent 130 page $23.32 syllabus that you are required to buy on top of the useless text book. the required class periods are take up by him speaking on stupid topics of no importance. He makes no clarification and expectations on assignments and I was often left thinking.. Is this what he wants.WHY? pointless final essays.

Very unique! He has a completely diff style than any other teacher I've had before. Yes, there is a $23.32 syllabus, that is truly your BIBLE! Rely on it. Any ?'s, look there first. Do 2 papers as your main grade...attendance is 10%, and rest is tests that are SUPER EASY if you study the guides he gives online. Don't need to read if you're not shy.
Main point if called on in class JUST SAY AN ANSWER!!! Avoid "I dunno" and similar answers...if you say something that is possibly the answer or somewhat logical, he may make a rude comment or slightly embarrass you, but this keeps you on his good side. I MISSED the final and turned my 4 final papers in late...still got an A because I followedTHAT
Read the chapters, do the 40 question multiple quizzes and fill out a note card (5 pts.) and you will get As on all of the quizzes. When it comes to the writing assignments follow the rubrics to the letter. Do try to answer his questions with some thought, dont say I dont know. Attendence is worth it, he works with you if you put forth the effort.
He's rude. The chapter tests aren't hard as long as you answer the questions on the site. He's really specific on what he'll grade though. The final is 5 brutal essays and he only grades 2. He expects you to work on them throughout the whole semester but how can you make a thesis when you don't have all the facts?!! He's also pretty offensive.
Total jerk. Essays are brutal. Will call you out and embarass you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Very boring class with lots of homework. I somehow got the work done and crammed for the tests enough to get an A. Roberson is annoying, arrogant, and not very helpful.

He gave us assigned seats as if we were in pre-school, made us buy the exact green colored $4.32 folder or else he would not grade our work, and made us write five 5-7 page essays and then only grade two of them. One of the worst professors in UCO history. He is very unprofessional, has no idea what he is talking about, and needs to retire. Very proud he got his PhD at like 25, and has not done anything in about 40years. He is extremely inappropriate, and will talk to students randomly about his sex life. may come off as a jerk, but he's really a nice guy and is VERY interested in what he's talking about. I learned things in that class because he wasn't afraid to push the boundaries. You take 20 question exams every friday, but they are online prior (multiple choice). Just follow directions and read YOUR chapter well when it's your week to present

He is a mixed bag when it comes to professors. He is very helpful...outside of class. He can be a real pain in class. He has so many little technical requirements that you end up being scolded for not following them, even though they trip him up also sometimes. Can come off very impolite in class, bordering on insulting. However, I learned so much!
This prof is the worst. you can ask him a question and he will NEVER give you a straight answer, he will answer with an essay long answer that doesn't even make sense with what you asked. AWFUL!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Great teacher and loved his class. I took his class 10 years ago and came back to take a Masters class through Dr. Roberson. Have to do the work and earn the grade.

I took Professor Roberson in the early 2000's. I remember his interesting stories. He's an amazing storyteller and he is one of my all-time favorites. He encouraged my ability to incorporate a creative element to my writing. Forever thankful for his encouragement.
