No matter the class you take with Professor Bodnar, you will be engaged and learn more than you expected. He is thoroughly knowledgeable of his subjects, his lectures are very clear and organized and he does a great job of keeping the class involved and thinking. He teaches so well in class that the homework is minimal and usually very interesting.
Mr. Bodnar makes ethics fun and interesting. The class seems pretty engaged. Homework is minimal, his reference sheets are well organized, and he let's you know what to study for the mid-term. No guess-work with him, which is great!
Mr. Bodnar is great. He's very laid back n u do all of ur assignments n class. All of them r projects, but quite easy ones. The final project he lets u choose what u want 2 do as long as it has 2 do with something u learned during the course. I like that he has us do the work n class, especially since the teachers there, n that he gives us choices
Awesome teacher....talk about clarity-all lectures on powerpoint with provided handouts that you fill in as you go. its simple. good attendance+completed handouts= A in the class. Cake! mr. bodnar rocks!
very nice guy.jeremiah is very helpful and is a cool person. theres lots of memorizing but its not that bad. make sure you show up because if u miss a day, you miss quite a whole lot. (fast track class)
Prof.Bodnar is a very clear teacher with clear expectations. I liked his good nature and constant smile. Use his ofice hours to review your midterm and finals. It helped me to go from a B on my midterm to a A+ on my finals!
Bodnar is a baller. He is really clear in class and has a weird sense of humor, but is funny. You don't need the book, jsut show up to class and use the handouts he gives you in class for tests. The questions from the test are taken word for word from the study guide.
Bodnar is a great professor and an exceptional person. He has a warm, gentle personality and a definite passion for philosophy. I love his quirky sense of humor. Show up for class, or you will fall behind. Make sure you write specific, detailed answers on his essay tests. Highly recommended teacher.
He's a great guy. All you need to do is show up to class. Each week is a different topic and you do a in class project for each topic. There's rarely ever any homework and you do the majority of class work in class, in groups. The last project is the biggest but it's really easy. Great class, great teacher.
I don't know why you all like this guy. Inflexible, lost several students homework and was constantly telling us that we were interpreting the class material incorrectly. Hello? What I see in a painting is SUBJECTIVE. I will stay away from any other classes he teaches.
He is really an extraordinary Professor. Very knowledgeable, professional and student focused. He want's you to succeed. He like's you participating in class and doing your weekly essays. And yes is subjective and he fully respect the class inter-subjectivity. TAKE HIS CLASS! YOU'LL LOVE IT!
Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is teaching. Because of the nature of philosophy, it was hard to know what would pass as a good answer on our tests and what would not if it wasn't a definition question. :S I tried my best and got an A, but feel I barely squeeked by with one. Be ready to show up regularly, participate and study.
I took his online "The American Style" humanities class with him this summer. He assigns alot of papers and you have to respond to other classmates alot but it's easy to pass the class if you just stay on top of things. I ended up getting an A. He is very organized, clear, and concise with his lectures and assignment instructions.
I was really disappointed in this class. The subject was taught in a boring manner, and my interest in the class died down quickly. He also takes attendance, which I find stupid for a college level course.
I had no clue what this guy was ever saying. I just bummed my way through class and got a B. You just have to pretty much put up with him.
He makes Ethics interesting. Recommend showing up and taking notes. He encourages and admires student participation. Give respect and effort, he will give the same in return. His tests are totally do-able if you take good notes and study from them. He's always available for help and will work with your schedule. He really cares about his students.
He is very nice. He speaks softly most of the time, so you should listen all the time. Never any homework, maybe 2 or 3 essays but very easy. His exams are not hard, just pay attention. Most of his notes are pre-typed so all you have to do is fill in the blanks. He's sick.
He's okay, but a nice guy. I feel like he gears his classes toward philosophy majors instead of trying to appeal to everyone. Sometimes I had no clue what he was talking about. This definitely wasn't my favorite class.
Teaching style is very distinct and clear; saved me a lot of money for the summer class (no books to buy!); just follow directions and the class would be a piece of cake unlike some teachers. Promptly answers any questions you have on time (unlike a Sociology teacher). Always on top of his game! Recommend!
Took Humanities 10 online during summer session and really enjoyed it, which I did not expect being a nursing major. No textbooks or tests or anything, basically just short lectures on interesting topics like nature and generosity and multiculturalism and then writing your interpretation of certain ideas. I highly recommend Humanities 10 with Bodna
I took Humanities 10 online during the summer. I learned a lot and he was a great instructor. Instructions for every assignment was clear and organized. Take the class, you will love it!
Took him for Aesthetics & he is a great teacher, funny too! So helpful when you need it & his lectures are super clear (he hands out outlines every lecture). Only 3 essays & 3 tests. As long as you don't miss too many classes, its an easy A
What he taught and what he expect you to answer on the test are completely different. You can never get a good grade unless you do lots of studying outside. Totally destroyed my interest on ethics.
PHIL 1 was pretty easy, even though the book was terrible. He's pretty nice and a fairly easy grader. He has a quirky personality and says "fair enough" a lot. I'd recommend him, though. He's a fair teacher.
I absolutely love this class and this teacher. I've taken 3 classes with him. He's helpful and knowledgeable and makes the class fun. He encourages participation but it's also okay if you don't want to talk.
I found the class to be very easy. Just attend class to get the notes he makes for you. He gives a study guide before each test, and they are very similar to the actual test. Easy A!
Great professor. He really engages everyone and is respectful of everyone's opinions. As long as you study for the tests, you're pretty much guaranteed a B. There is a large group presentation at the end, but he is not too harsh on the grading . I would definitely not recommend this to anyone looking for an easy A. But it's a great class!
Easy easy easy!! I highly recommend taking him online. Thurs = online quiz due. Sundays = written assignment due. EASY. Thank you Jeremy!
Took other philosophy classes with him and they were all a lot easier than my last one. Do not take Phil 4 with him if you want an A. He never uses the textbook and the lectures are a bit overwhelming. I'd recommend his other philosophy classes though
Had no interest prior to taking this class but while taking it, I found it pretty interesting. Professor Bodner really likes philosophy and is passionate about it. He is kind of funny too, You do have to write a few papers which aren't hard but you do have to show up and study for his tests. Very fair teacher.
Best professor I've had so far so clear and his study guides are so helpful, very calm personality and will always take the time to clarify
Lectures are interesting and concise, there's plenty of time for classroom discussions, and the coursework is very light - just make sure to take notes on the provided outlines and review them for the midterms. Bodnar is an excellent professor! Consider taking his class with the added Honors component.
Since this is a low points class (~300-400 points), the quizzes (~15 points) are worth a lot. The class starts easy but after introducing check-all-that-apply problems, many points will be lost. There is no extra credit.
Mr. Bodnar is an interesting teacher. I learned a lot in his class. He was very approachable and helpful. Make sure you attend on days where big assignments are due because there's not a lot of them. Study your notes for the final. There's a group presentation at the end, but it's not as bad as it sounds. Make sure to have enough information for it
Loved him! So cool and nice! Study the reviews and you'll do great! One of my favorite teachers!!
Took Phil 4 for the Fall. Philosophy itself is pretty tough, because its all opinion based, which makes learning about opinions some what hard. Professor Bodnar is clear cut. I was never confused about what was expected of assignments or tests. I would take again if I had to. Recommend for anyone who needs a philosophy class.
Very professional and knowledgeable. What you put into the class, you'll get out of it. Ask questions during class or take advantage of office hours to get a grasp on the more difficult concepts. He's exceptionally clear and has a strong command of the English language, so as long as you pay attention and participate, you should do well.
Bodnar is a really nice teacher. Very understanding and gentle man. This class should be easy as long as you're attentive during lecture. No HW besides a group project at the end of the course. Not much debating or heated discussion. Chill class.
The tests are tough, but the class before a test he will go over all the answers and give you a chance to ask questions. As long as you are thinking things through and understand the basic ideas he gives you credit. Participation is essential to passing. Majority of the work is done in groups. Pay attention to the lectures and you will be fine.
His class was so easy to pass. He only gave 3 homework assignments and they counted for a lot of points, so don't miss those. His test are very straight forward, easy to pass. Show up and you'll do great. He also gives you extra credit opportunities if you ask. He's very clear, easy going, and helpful! Made the class enjoyable.
Prof Bodnar is amazing! He's so intelligent and his lectures are pretty engaging. Participation is key for him; you usually have in-class assignments every day. Midterms are fair, as long as you study and give the academic respect he deserves. Final was good, and he's great for honors work!
Best online professor I've ever had!! He posts video lectures, which are very helpful, and the directions on his assignments are amazing. It really doesn't get more straight forward than him. Be prepared for the quizzes though. If you don't listen to the lectures you can't do well on them.
DO NOT TAKE humanities with this guy. assignments 5 out of 7 days. Vague instructions and a ton to read. The only benefit is no books are required. He kicks people out of class for missing a single assignment with no warning. AVIOD this person-
Mr. B is 1 of the greatest teachers I have had. He is very engaging, intelligent & always capable of answering Qs no matter how abstract. He gives very little hw, & if u pay attention in class & study a little at home the tests should be a breeze. Caution, he has daily classwork assignts., so participation is highly recommended. He is also v funny
Bodnar is awesome! He truly knows what he is teaching. Any questions ever asked he tried to give some great feedback for you. If philosophy is your thing then the class is cool, if not then you will probably be lost the whole semester. Test are straight from the study guide so STUDY! Major group project at the end!
Took Ethics online with Professor Bodnar and it was great. Very clear and thorough lectures (which he offers as both an audio visual file and a .pdf). Decent amount of assignments but instructions were clear and he offers examples. Interesting material. Huge paper due at the end of the semester. Be careful - he uses trick questions in his quizzes!
Nice, accessible, humble, explains concepts well, funny, understanding, and loves Philosophy. An overall fantastic teacher; one of my all-time favorites.
Hes kid of weird. Hes overall a nice guy and when we had a group project my group kept slacking off and turning stuff in late and he still took it. My only complaint is that we after the midterm the class pretty much teaches each other. We have projects about each chapter to present to the class and we are tested on it for the final.
Professor Bodnar is an awesome guy! You can tell he really loves what he's teaching, and while the majority of my class was just taking this class for GE credit we all genuinely loved the class. He explains concepts very well and gives real life examples. Definitely would take him again!
Pretty straight forward with what assignments he wants. Just follow the directions and you'll be fine. As long as you take your time and don't procrastinate, you'll get a good grade.
I wasn't a huge fan of his class, so I'm glad its over.
Prof Bodnar is such a great guy. Very passionate about what he teaches. He is very intelligent yet explains things in an easy to understand way. There are very few assignments so make sure you don't miss them! Not much extra credit either. I wish I could take his classes every semester. final project was really cool, but only if your group is good
Bodnar is such a friendly and smart guy. He is great at explaining things, and always willing to help you out if you are stuck on something. The last weeks of class you are assigned a group project and have to present them. I was not a fan of all the group work, I preferred learning from Bodnar much more than my classmates.
What a guy. I preferred learning from him more than I did from the group presentations, but his class was enjoyable. He does a great job at explaining complex concepts and as long as you attend class and take good notes, you'll be super prepared for the exams.
Bodnar is really nice. He lectures well and definitely knows what he is talking about. Plus he gives outlines for the notes. There are a few essay assignment early on, but after those, there isnt much. He gives you study guides for all the test but the test only use like 20-30 percent of whats on it.
Nicest guy ever, kinda funny. Philosophy is generally pretty difficult, but Bodnar's lectures make it easier to understand. Show up to class, do the homework because he literally only gives like 3 assignments, participate in lectures, take good notes which he gives an outline for, and you'll do well!
Good guy. I find it hard to say anything bad about him. Attend listen and do your homework and he will be your favorite teacher. Epictetus would tell you that you shouldn't be reading this but the teacher should also know he does a great job.
Professor Bodnar is a nice guy, but a really tough grader. If you didn't use the wording he preferred on tests you will lose points. He made the class harder than it needed to be. The discussions and group presentations are enjoyable, but the tests are fairly difficult.
Phil 2 is an easy class to take online. The class contains 2 assignments every week, first a quiz based off the lecture and then a discussion on what was taught in the lecture. Even if I had the lectures next to me, I couldn't score 100% on the quizzes! Reading the book is key (which I didn't do enough). Final is a 1800 word paper on a philosopher.
I took Philosophy 2 online. The class very easy. I did not touch the text books but some classmates did for the final (which was also fairly easy). An easy quiz, a homework assignment, and a lecture once a week. Nothing was difficult and it was easy to take while doing other classes.
Took his online class and it was alright. Just watch his videos, answer questions, do discussions and that's it.
Professor Bodnar deserves a lot of credit. He is a very friendly professor and a very excellent instructor. Without a doubt, I would absolutely take him again for credit. Attendance is not mandatory, but you probably should show to the class as much as possible. I took philosophy3 because I needed to, I am going to take it again because now I enjoy
Professor Bodnar is one of the professors who made a huge impact towards my college experience at Las Positas. He was such a great teacher - was always there to provide feedback when it came to essays or our group projects, gave extra credit etc. The exams will be a bit difficult, if you werent paying attention to his lectures in class.
Prof. Bodnar was easily one of my favorite professors on Campus. I had him for many classes so I got to know him well. He's always willing to give extra help outside of class and his lectures are really clear. He's super cool and prepared me well for pursuing a BA in Philosophy at a 4 year. Show up, take notes, study for exams, and you'll pass.
He's really nice and wants you to pass, he gives extra credit and will clarify anything if you ask. The concepts can be confusing, but take good notes and you'll pass the quizzes. Everything you need to know are in the lectures, I didn't need to use the textbook at all. It's an easy class if you pay attention
I had his online class and it wasn't very hard. He assigns the same written assignment for every week along with a short quiz. He offers EC but you have to put in a lot of work for it. There is one final project at the end of the semester but he gives you lots of time to finish the course early so its nice. 8/10 recommends
He loved when you wrote a lot. Weekly discussions and quizzes (MAKE SURE TO THOROUGHLY READ QUESTIONS- super tricky wording). The more you wrote and analyzed your discussions the more likely you would get full credit (hard to do). He gave at most .2 points EC for great discussion posts
This professor wasn't very hands on with his students, he would give us stuff to read /watch then would assign a weekly discussion board and quiz. I think this was a harder class due to the lack of hands on and because the concepts are really hard to grasp. I would say he is a pretty easy grader, just a lot of information being thrown at you.
Very well organized and structured class, reasonable and fair professor. 1 short reading quiz each week that is easy so long as you pay attention. Low stress group discussion each week you receive credit for. 1 online discussion post each week and the occasional other assignment. 1 group project. That's the whole class.
1 quiz and 1 assignment a week. The clearest grading and format criteria I've ever seen; make sure to follow it. There are two textbooks he references throughout the course, but his video lectures are all you need to get by until the essay final, when you can just search up the pdf for both. Very easy class. king in the castle king in the castle
Professor Bodnar did a great job teaching Aesthetics. Even though our class size was about 10 people, he still made sure everyone participated in the class discussions and often joined in to talk about the topic as well. It felt very comfortable and he gives out clearly indicated study guides that follow the test almost completely identical.
Really easy class and genuinely a really nice teacher! He is a funny teacher and it is easy to talk to him. Tests are pretty easy, just show up to class and participate in the group discussions. So simple. Highly recommend taking his class!
He's a really good professor. His lectures are interesting and engaging. There's a lot of group work and you need to participate, but it was easy and casual. Cool dude. I liked his class, I would take it again.
Genuinely the best teacher I have had so far. Really easy class, extremely light workload, and of all the classes I have taken here, I think I walked away with the most knowledge from his. Would definitely recommend taking it in person because the discussions are super entertaining
I took Professor Bodnar's Logic class in the summer and he was great. He has great lecture videos and the homework isn't overwhelming. The class is structured well for an online class. I don't think it was terribly difficult, but the content itself twisted my brain into a knot a few times.
I took Aesthetics a year ago. My favorite class at LPC so far, I really learned alot! Highly recommend Professor Bodnar, he really cares about philosophy and his students.
10/10 Professor. Lectures and discussions are very fruitful. He is a genuine person and always works hard to help students succeed. You learn a lot in his class and the workload is manageable. His rubrics are very clear for HW. There is a group project and written tests. The study guides prepare you perfectly for exams and he reviews it in class.
Professor Bodnar is amazing, definitely my favorite professor I've had. If you are interested in philosophy you should definitely take his classes. He is a very understanding and great guy overall.
Professor Bodnar HAS to be my favorite professor ever. He is clear, helpful, and obviously passionate about what he teaches. He gives study guides that have EXACTLY what you need to know for the test, he gives outlines for every lecture, and has LOTS of office hours. He is willing to stay with you as long as you need, and is wonderful at his job.
Professor Bodnar is a really great professor to have at Las Positas. Though Philosophy was a bit difficult to catch on 100%, he helped break concepts down for everyone to try and understand. Lots of reading involved and take good notes to study, but as long as you do the work, it'll go good. Kind, understanding, and accessible out of class.
Extremely tough grader for no reason. Turned in all of my assignments and I could never get my writing up to his level of "perfect", never got 100% on a discussion. The coursework is not a lot, but please make sure you write a lot and very in depth, if you don't he'll give you half credit.
He makes pretty clear lecture videos, and they're engaging and concise. He also replies really quickly if you contact him outside of class. A lot of writing and discussions though. Also has very clear criteria
Prof. Bodnar is a great instructor, but this class has a pretty heavy workload. The weekly assignments were 1-2 textbook exercises and 1-2 quizzes that were auto-graded and group discussion board posts. I submitted a few assignments late, but was still able to get 100% on them. Be sure to take lots of notes because you're going to need them!
Favorite professor ever. Cares deeply about your success. Very intelligent. Very well-read. No wonder he got into UCLA and UChicago
He's a pretty goofy guy, which makes me feel welcomed and respected in his class. His lectures are always interesting and he breaks it down really carefully so everyone understands. He's good with one-on-one student support and it's just a generally fun and enjoyable class.
You will learn and you can pass kind of class, so it's awesome. All assignments are evenly weighted, so try to do your best all around. 2 midterms, 1 final. Attendance/small group participation so show up every single day. Very kind, respectful teacher and atmosphere.
Had him asynch and he was very easy. 1 discussion + small quiz per week after
very straightforward course. professor makes it very accessible to everyone's tech skills and learning speeds. usually 2 problem sets and 1 group discussion per week. maybe a 4 hr weekly workload. at one point i stopped using the textbook and just used the learning logic tutorial vids
Took PHIL 3 aesthetics and the guy was awesome. Class is structured very well and theres only about an hour of work to do each week, maybe less. He does require a textbook but it's rarely used and honestly you could pass the class pretty easily without it.
THIS IS A HARDDDD CLASS took phil 1 honors this dude is no free A by any means dont take this guy if you want a free A take something online tests are insanley hardly graded compared to other classes at las po hates people who dont come to class. you will miss points if you dont show up and he will give you a 0 for that if u wanna work, take
Articulate, knowledgeable, warm. Patient in answering questions in office hours. Happy to provide you with resources and answer questions about how to complete assignments if you ask. Uniquely good at lecturing. Dedicated to treating students ethically and with respect.
I enjoyed the class. Every week theres a lecture, quiz, and discussion assignment. The lectures are usually around 15 minutes and the quizes are simple. There is a textbook requirement but its honestly easy to still get an A without it. His lectures sum up the key takeaways from the reading.
Professor Bodnar is by far the best teacher I have ever had. I was not the best at the subject, but if you show up to class and ask questions it's not too bad. The professor loves the subject and cares to create bonds with each of his students. I would recommend him 1000x if you care about good relationships with teachers!!
Good professor, I would take extra notes on the lectures to be super prepared for the tests. There's two midterms, they aren't difficult at all and the questions are given beforehand for practice. Make sure to add lots of detail and you'll do great in this class.
on track for an A. Genuinely the most engaging/entertaining class I have taken so far at LPC. You learn a lot, and can really tell professor cares about the subject. Very nice guy overall, and a very engaging class. Homeworks kind of suck, but overall a pretty good course.
Amazing professor!!! Really inspired me to learn more about the subject, and i greatly enjoyed this class. The final is a group project, which was fun, but can be a lot of work (dont procrastinate, you get plenty of time). All homework is online, and can almost always be retaken like 3 times or so to improve your grade.
