Professor Hower was always helpful when needed. He would respond to emails very quickly and would give feedback about homework and quizzes via email if you did particularly well. He makes sure everyone is understanding the work in class and will walk around and assist you with problems. If you have trouble in math like me I recommend taking him.

I took him during Spring. Honestly he's a great teacher. He makes an effort to help you if you are making an effort. During the practice sessions for exams even though I was the only one who showed up he still went out of his way to help me with the toughest section even stayed past the time. he's a nice math teacher. Professor Howard is a good professor in my eyes. He goes through every step of problems and tries to make sure everyone understands the material. His class can get a little boring at times but you'll get used to it. I would recommend you to take his class.

This class was very easy if you studied, attended every class and actually paid attention, as well as participating in the lab and the study plan online. He explains everything and answers questions but you can't be shy in asking. Teachers are not mind readers.

Kinda talks to you like you're dumb but explains everything well. You have to go to class everyday because he has quizzes, they're one to two questions and you never know if they're in the beginning, during lecture, or at the end.

Very sweet guy! I've always been terrified of math professors in FIU, he's easy going. Knows everyone in the class isn't there by choice, tries to make the class as smooth as possible, explains as much as he can with the time he has. Open office hours, if you apply yourself you can pass. Weekly hwks help you prepare for the tests.

Very helpful professor, class once a week, 3hrs a week in math lab, 1 hr of math gym, tests are kinda hard but you will pass if you try. You have to go to class for in-class quizzes.

This guy is so sweet. He's honestly been my favorite math teacher ever; always tries to cheer you up and help you out. You can always expect replies from emails and help in making sure everything you do is A material. Very helpful and heavily interested in students success! Would recommend. BTW hw/tests/quizzes are standardized, so same per class.

He's such a nice teacher. He likes to have one class meeting rather than 3 days a week. He'll drop your lowest homework, quiz, 1 week of missed lab hours, and replace your lowest test grade with the final. I took him MAC 1103 and MAC 1105. I don't regret it! Don't buy the textbook since it's not needed and attend class. There's In class quizzes!

signed up for MWF and he only made class mandatory Wed. He's extremely helpful and genuinely cares about his students. I had taken the class twice prior and he would personally email me checking on my progress to make sure Id pass. Great guy. The class set up for MAC1105 is terrible at FIU but Prof. Hower makes it way easier.

Professor Hower was an amazing teacher! He was helpful if students had any questions and explained how to use the online website where the assignments are. The class is pretty simple if you complete all the homework and quizzes and attendance is mandatory for participation points. Overall he's a really nice, easy going teacher who helps your grade.

Im not going to exaggerate and say that Prof. Hower is the best math teacher ever, but he is pretty darn good. He knows what he's talking about. and he actually cars about his students, and wants them to pass. Class is supposed to be MWF but is actually only MW except on Testing weeks. Read the reviews and took his class. Best decision I've ever made ! Take him if he's available !!

Hands down, professor Hower is an excellent teacher! he explains problems really well, and is always checking up on his students. he really cares about them! class only meets once a week , do not miss class, i clicker quiz every class. i would definitely take again, if it wasn't for him , i wouldn't of pass the class!

This professor is very helpful. If you reach out to him he will help you. There are homeworks and quizzes for each section due atleast 3 times a week. Homework and Quizzes are very important to your grade. All Exams are proctored at school but can be taken through Proctor U. I believe there are 4 exams. (Including Midterm and Final)

I would say that Jeremiah was one of the best professor that i have ever had. he is really caring about you and your grades and also he gives you a lot of opportunitie so that you can pass. FIU in College Algebra you only have 1 class per week. the other classes are for Math Gyms and Lab hours, so Jeremiah tried to cover all the material in 50 min.

Excellent professor! College Algebra is not easy and the tests are made by the department, but professor Hower is there to help his students succeed. He even provides extra credit. This isn't a class in which you can cram for the exams the night before. You must study and work hard! But, take professor Hower! He truly cares about his students!!

Professor Hower is a solid professor, I typically am average at math but I put forth a lot of effort in this class. It isn't easy by any means, but if you follow the schedule he lays out, do all the home work and quizzes you would do fine. He is flexible with the quiz and homework schedules and a fair grader.

Wonderful professor. I always promised I wouldn't take Math classes online but after taking a class with Prof Hower last semester I decided to give it a try. Be sure to do the review quizzes multiple times, tests are very similar. An overall good professor. He usually drops the lowest quiz and hw grade and replaces lowest grade with final.

He is a fantastic professor. Obviously his class was difficult because it is math, but he will do everything he can for you to pass. He gives extra credit and on occasions curves his test. Honestly I hate math with a passion and I am pretty bad at it as well, but professor Hower got me hyped up about this class and helped me pass with a B .

There's A LOT of material to cover in this class, weekly HW and quizzes. Does not let you do the quizzes if you don't score more than 80 points in the HW. Tests are proctored and very hard if your do not study. Math gyms are a piece of cake. I will take him again just because he tries to help you with the final grade.

There's a 1 question Iclicker quiz every class along with a pre-class assignment, so attending class is 7% of your grade. Another 10% is going to the math lab for three hours a week. He gives extra credit at the end of the semester. You only meet twice a week and the tests are tough. He drops your lowest homework and quiz grade. Overall he's great

Something I really liked about this professor is that in a class of 150 students he still learned my name. Everything was very clear from the start of the semester including the dates for every single assignment and class session, (only one meeting a week after the first week). Isn't the fastest in responding to emails.

Was finally able to pass College Algebra by taking his online class. As someone who is clearly not good at math, I cannot recommend him enough. Replaces lowest test score with your final if you want it, gives homework & quiz several times per week. Provides test review quizzes before actual test! These help so much, can take review unlimited times.

Prof. Hower was phenomenal. I personally LOATHE math & quite frankly am terrible at it. The fact that I passed his class w/ a B is a miracle & its all thanks to his level of care to pass his students. He works hard in understanding your thinking & correlating it back to how you can apply it to the content being taught, making sure you learn overall

Hower is an AMAZING professor. As someone who has always struggled with math, he made learning it a breeze! Highly recommend him, especially if you have a hard time with math like I do! Friendly, approachable, and completely available to his students. I will definitely be taking him next semester.

Professor Hower tries his best to make class easy for students. I do think he gave a bit too much homework but at least the HW is easier than most math classes. Tests seem intimidating but I assure you his test reviews are harder, most of what I got wrong on the test were silly mistakes and I ended up with a B worst case scenario. Decent class.

requires 4 hours a week in the math lab when you take him during summer. attendance is basically mandatory bc of the pre class and ICLICKER assignments (very simple).He never used the whole class time, we spend no more than 50 minutes which is enough. Drops lowest grades at the end, got C- Bc of my own lack of effort,but great teacher.

Love Hower, he's very helpful in class and you can always find him at the Math Lab otherwise he's really good at replying to emails. He's very clear when it comes to explaining, just make sure you can keep up with him. The class goes by quickly so don't slack or get distracted. Attendance is only mandatory because of the iclicker quizzes.

I had Prof. Hower for MAC1105 and I have to admit that if we weren't required to show up to class, you'd do just fine. He does clear up the subject though. He gives you tips and tricks on how to tackle difficult math equations without having to struggle to "solve for x". I definitely recommend his class especially since he only lectures once a week. He does in fact use iclickers in order to take attendance and have mini-quizzes but nothing that'll cause you to loose your mind. I'm going to take his MAC1140 class next semester so let's see how that goes.

I enjoyed this class overall - though I am someone who is absolutely terrible at math. The class is graded by the iClicker quiz system. His handwriting in class is awful and very hard to understand, but if you listen to him and his assistants and aren't afraid of asking questions you will do great. Very clear grading criteria in syllabus. Nice guy.

I had him online. I generally hate online classes but he teaches very well, you do have to study whether you like math or not. Online you don't need to do 3 lab hours which saves a lot of time for other things. Math Gym is required for everyone, it is pointless but the LA are super nice, helpful and easily accessible.

Online class, lots of homework and quizzes. Professor curves, but still you gotta study. Math is math I think all professor are the same. Study really hard and you'll get a good grade.

He is super caring and understanding (adjusting test grades, letting you make up quizzes and HW) if needed. Most of the work/ learning is done on MylabsPlus but he won't put you to sleep like some of the other professors that teach this class do. He is high energy. He does have chicken scratch for writing, but he's super accessible outside class.

Dr. Hower impressed me. He is actually very caring and made me understand the subjects. I think MAD2104 is a very hard subject overall. However, he does make time during office hours to explain things thoroughly. He cares about students, but you need to put the effort too.

Best math professor I've ever had. He makes it virtually impossible to fail: if you don't do well on a test he gives you multiple retakes to get it. You don't even need to get an A on the tests, just a "pass" (70%) and it counts as if you had 100%. He also uses Rational Reasoning instead of that GOD AWFUL MyLabsPlus. Awesome!

Professor Hower is a star in my book. His explanations can be a bit difficult to understand sometimes. However, as professors go he has to be one of the best. If you put in effort to learn he will reciprocate it. He goes the extra mile to help you learn and figure out what you are doing wrong. I wish he taught future classes in my program.

Professor Hower is super caring & he responds immediately to your emails. He is the type of professor that makes sure you pass the class. It's just his way of explaining math can be a bit confusing but he always finds a way to help you learn. He uses Rational Reasoning for homework but that website is kinda difficult but trust, you can pass it.

I actually took him for MAC 2312 (Calculus 2) and he was very generous in the due dates for the homework, even extending it up to 2 weeks for us to complete. He is very generous in grading tests and quizzes and will still give points if you went in the right direction. He'll stay after class for any questions students have on the material.

I've never had a math professor so invested in their students learning and succeeding. People complaining about him are in for a rude awakening elsewhere. Class is focused on learning goals, and you're given more than one chance on your test scores. It is math so unless you like the subject it will be difficult. I highly recommend him, 10/10.

Dr. Hower is very caring about his students, I have multiple times asked questions about learning activity problems and he goes over them after class. He is very easy to talk to and really does want his students to do well. If you review the learning activity and the lesson guide worksheet you are guaranteed to pass the exams. Nice grader!!

He was a pretty easy going guy and he did make an effort to have you pass the class. Tests are given every three weeks and retests were two weeks after that, in between that he would do reviews. Lectures weren't great, but I think most people learned better with the homework. He is very understanding and lenient.

I have taken him before and took him again because I liked how he cared for his students. Get to know him, he will do everything he can to help you. The orientation of this course was awesome. Lots of retakes for tests, should get you to a high B or A. Pay attention to the pre-class assignments and you will be good for the rest of the course.

Final exam is necessary to pass with a 60% in order to keep your earned semester grade. 33 learning targets comprise 70% of your score. These are measured by tests and retests. All coursework is accepted late until end of term. You do have to study, teach yourself, & do the lessons to pass this class, but you have multiple opportunities to pass.

if you rated this guy anything but a 5/5, just say you are lazy. he allows you to take a retest of every single exam (even the final) and the homeworks are easy. extra credit opportunities

For calc3 he was good at explaining everything in depth. Better option over Hermi in my opinion for this class as he is more caring about his students and will help you out if he sees you try and take part in class with questions.

Professor Hower's class is challenging, but if you put in the effort and utilize resources like unstuck study for study prep, you can succeed. He's understanding and allows retakes, making this a worthwhile learning experience.

Would recommend to people who have previous knowledge of algebra. Would not recommend if you're very bad at math. His lecture is not the greatest, he made a lot of mistakes throughout them. Long homework but you can go to the math lab for help. Exams can be taken again the next week so you can improve your scores. Gives extra credit opportunities.

At times he moves at a fast pace, he is very involved and interested in seeing his students pass. If you put in the time and effort he will help you out and make sure that you learn and pass. He also provides good study material for tests. Failed this class in the past and finally got it done with Professor Hower, good guy all around.

Good professor. The first three exams are you way to a GOOD grade. Study the practice exams he gives you and whatever is extra chapter he says isn't covered on it Also BEWARE of the final. It will be a curveball by the department and nothing like the previous exam guide!! Study on your own, do the hw ahead of time of you'll get lost.

I took this summer 25. im not good at math and a procasinator-however I GOT AN A-AYEEE. I would study ONLY the exam review for each exam, I literally barely payed attention to the homework. My first few tests i got 50%.. He allows retakes, which was my lifesaver. My only tip is to study exam reviews heavily and you're set to pass! Tests were 75%.

He's very kind, and his teaching style is straightforward. Each week has a consistent schedule with lessons, online homework, and written homework, although it can be quite a bit of work. There are also videos and a textbook for further study. Taking exams (hosted live on Zoom) is also easy, and most dates are posted well ahead of time.
