He was ok. Actually wrote stuff on the board rather than powerpoints.
He's a new professor so initially I was hesitant to take his class, but I thought he did an excellent job teaching tough material. He's a cool guy if you get to know him. His tests are fair, but they were a bit easier than final, so be ready for that.
Was nervous because he's new and didn't have many ratings but I'm totally satisfied. He is very clear and gives good conceptual explanations of the material. I feel like I have a much better understanding of calculus now. Really enjoyed his lectures, tests were very fair.
A good choice for an easy course. He was super open about how available he was even though no one ever went to his office hours. Straight forward guy and very responsive to questions and open to re-teaching things to make sure that everyone understands.
Class was pretty easy as long as you did the homework and paid attention in class. Exams were fair. He is young, extremely nice, and very clear- one of my favorite professors.
Morgan is a good professor, but his grading is black and white. Other bus calc. professors curve and help students, but your grade is your grade in this class
Professor Morgan tries hard but isn't very good at explaining things. He takes really simple topics that many people have already learned and teaches them in a very very confusing way which if you hadn't already learned it would be very hard to understand. Exams are extremely fair and easy, weekly homework is fair too.
Morgan goes through the material very fast. Tests are based on homeworks moreso than lecture which sucks because homeworks are 5x harder than what you do in class and take hours.. didnt get one 100% on any of the homeworks. I have taken two other math courses at Pitt and got As. It really does depend on teacher. I would avoid this class.
Morgan is a very good professor because he explains what you already read in the book much more clearly. This class is already really difficult so showing up to class and asking him questions will make it so much easier! His tests are easy to conquer only if you study hard! The final is harder than his tests but not impossible if you know it.
Dr. Morgan is very clear with explaining things and is very thorough when discussing a topic. However, in my view he spends more time than he needs to in explaining concepts that aren't very complicated. His tests are very fair and do not include anything more complicated than what he goes over in class.
Morgan is good at putting difficult concepts into simpler terms. He covers the course material at a good pace. The exams are fair. A solid choice.
Dr. Morgan is very explicit with how he presents material and is very clear. His lectures are straightforward and easy to understand, and he's approachable if you don't understand something. The tests are somewhere between fair and easy, being no harder than his weekly quizzes. He's easy to understand in what he teaches. Definitely friendly & open.
Gives good lectures, and explains thing in a very understandable way. His tests were also difficult, but fair, especially if you put the work in to get there. For the departmental final, at least this year, I thought it was comparable to Morgan's midterms. Looking at previous years, this isn't always true though.
This was his first time teaching Calc 3 and he wasn't bad but sometimes the last few lectures before the exam felt extremely rushed (which hurt us because they were the most important lectures usually) I would recommend taking him since he'll probably do better teaching it again. He's probably really good with Calc 1 and 2 since he's taught it b4.
Calc is hard, that's that but Dr. Morgan really helped. His lectures were fantastic, and he did a really good job explaining the material. His tests were very fair and he did a good job preparing us for the final. Overall he was great, and I would definitely recommend him for Calc, as good professors are hard to come by in the Calc department
He was terrible. He himself would get lost in the material he was teaching and confuse everyone. It was as though he wasn't even educated in material. Would be asked to memorize so many formulas for tests and he himself didn't even know them. Homeworks were hard and it seemed as though nothing in homeworks or tests was taught in class. AWFUL.
He was the best choice for Calc 1!! I genuinely enjoyed his class. Show up and actually pay attention and you won't be disappointed with your grade.
Having never taken a calculus class before and being poor at math, I knew taking calc 1 would be rough. Dr. Morgan was exceptionally good at preparing us for the final. A lot of times, his lectures built on each other and reinforced ideas. His exams were exceptionally difficult. That being said, it prepared me well for the final, which was easy.
Dr. Morgan definitely seemed to know what he is doing. He gave very clear and detailed explanations of everything we learned. His exams were very fair and reasonable, if you go to class and do the work you should be fine. But calc is still a very difficult subject and you have to be willing to do the work to do well in this class.
Literally the worst teacher Ive ever had in my entire life. If youve never take a calc course before IT WILL BE HARD. Was horrible at explaining concepts and would go on tangents about things that we didnt even need to know. Homework can sometimes be hard but you search it up and some will give you the answers. My Ta was the only one that helped
Great professor, very clear and organized lectures. Do the practice problems on the syllabus and LONCAPA early so if you have questions you can ask him. I was normally the only one at his office hours so he was very helpful, definitely take advantage of them. Study really hard for the first two exams and all of the quizzes, dept. final is awful.
Professor Morgan is very unaccommodating, writes the entire definition on the board and doesn't go over enough examples during class.
Dr. Morgan is by far one of the most thorough professors on campus. As long as you follow along in class, do the homework, and do the practice problems in the textbook, you will do fine. He is very helpful & his class is pretty straight forward. He gives a lot of examples in class & he write important notes on the board.
Dr. Morgan is a great Calc professor - I took Calc before, but it is extra difficult at Pitt and he made it a fun class to attend. Although, beware his exams are a lot easier than the departmental final exam.
The homework is way harder than anything taught in class and will require you to get help. Tests and quizzes are usually on the hard side but As are possible. He is very good at explaining concepts and answering questions but sometimes he does go off on tangents.
Dr. Morgan was an average professor at best. He followed the math department curriculum and didnt do anything extra. Hes also one of the least sympathetic professors that Ive met in my time at Pitt. He doesnt listen to students concerns or issues at all. He does what he wants and doesnt care about the students when they need help.
I take him for every math course here cause he knows what he is doing. He explains everything so clearly. The exams are fair and you get out what you put into the class. If you love math it should be easy with him
Least favorite teacher I've had at Pitt. I asked to meet with him to go over my exam one on one, and he simply said come to office hours (not one on one). I asked for clarification on a homework assignment and got a sassy comment back a week later. Class average on exams are low and not tested to what he teaches. Would not recommend.
Worst professor ever. Only like 2 exams with barely any questions that were all short answer. I had to teach myself everything and did terribly.
Wasn't the worst teacher I have ever had but certainly not the best. He is very knowledgable of calculus and his lectures aren't bad. My problem with him was the way he would answer student's questions. He seemed annoyed by most of them. He got pretty strict after people cheated on his test's which can be understandable but went extreme in my opin.
Dr. Morgan explains the concepts very well and extremely clear in his notes. Additionally, he is fairly available outside class. His tests are extremely difficult. The level of questions is nothing like homework or in-class examples. The averages on tests are extremely low. You are going to need to put in a substantial amount of time outside class.
Concepts in the lectures are presented very clearly and straightforward, but on the tests, he repeatedly adds concepts that were breezed over during lectures, leaving a lot of students panicked when they open the exam.
Dr Morgan was a very nice professor to have and pretty accommodating given the Flex@Pitt structure. His exams are difficult in the sense that you don't usually have enough time; I never finished an exam. He does curve each exam individually though, and you can tell he wants his students to succeed. His lectures are pretty interesting too!
His approach to online learning definitely did not work. His lectures were extremely unhelpful due to the fact he did nothing to make them more engaging. He would leave examples unfinished, and the tests were way beyond what he did teach. He seemed annoyed by any questions and didnt try to accommodate to remote learning.
Lectures are good and he posts his notes. He also has supplemental videos if you need them. The book hw problems are not required but I strongly suggest doing at least some of them. Midterms and final make up 70% of your grade but all of mine had a fair curve. Gives plenty of review material for exams too
The lectures are not any more helpful than just reading the notes he posts on canvas. Professor morgan is passive aggressive when asked a question which makes students not want to ask him stuff. He knows what hes doing and teaches calculus well enough but the exams are extremely unfair. The exams are much harder than practice and not enough time.
Really nice guy. The lectures were clear and pretty straightforward. The only problem that I had with him was with the exams. Because exams were open-note, he tried to make them as hard as possible. Many people didn't finish because of this. I don't think his exams are this hard in person, but it wasn't a good experience for me.
Dr. Morgan is fine. Many of the people complaining about his tests have likely never taken a calculus class at pitt before. The tests are incredibly difficult no matter what prof you have. Dr. Morgan has good lectures, but he is a little slow and doesn't go into enough depth at times. Put in the work outside of class and you'll be ok.
Dr. Jeremiah Morgan taught the entry level Business Calculus as if every student had been exposed to calc before. Students rarely asked questions because he answered in a very condescending manner that felt belittling. He seemed amused while sharing that there were students in the lecture that had failed before. Would not recommend.
Dr. Morgan is definitely not an easy professor. If you want to do well in his class, copy the note he posted on canvas before the lecture, this allows you to focus more on what he is saying during the lecture. Exams are hard in a sense if you don't do any textbook problems outside of the class, do some extra practice and you'll be fine.
If you don't have some background with calc then DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He assumes every student already knows how to do everything so he literally does not explain the material. He goes so fast and when you try to ask a question he's super condescending. Appears nice but very rude. The final was literally impossible too
Prof Morgan was one of the most rude and condescending professors I have ever had. He goes through the material too quickly, the tests are very difficult, as he gives you complex problems with large numbers, yet doesn't let you use calculators during the test. He does not do a good job of explaining the concepts for material as challenging as this.
This is the worst professor that ive had. His exams are so hard and the final was ridiculous! Its too long and you wont have enough time to do that! His lectures are easy but the actual exams are nightmare! I will never take him again! This is the worst mistake that ive had in my life so far!
He is too fast and terrible. Hes not easy grading and his exams are so difficults . You are not allowed to use calculator but he always gave you big and crazy number, fraction on the exam that will make you confused and make mistakes easily! I just had a precious lesson and will never have any class with him again!
Not your worst choice. Dr. Morgan can tend to be condescending when answering questions in class or in emails about other concerns. He knows his Calculus, but doesn't do many examples and goes over explanations instead (which in my opinion aren't as helpful). Exams were always tricky, but he had clear expectations for his students.
Professor Morgan is the best professor I have had at Pitt. A lot of people will not like him because he is not easy. However, if you are willing to put in the work and pay attention in class you will realize how amazing he is at explaining concepts. I have never had a teacher explain as well as he does.
Textbook problems and in-class examples did not prepare me at all for his exams. Completely useless professor that doesn't help out. Practice exams did nothing to help. You may know the concepts well until he throws his unique twists on all problems. Waste of tuition money just to give us YouTube links to watch on our own.
He is a very good professor but his class is so tough that might ruin your interest in math.
Dr. Morgan is an amazing professor who explains topics very well. However, he talks incredibly fast and does not have lecture slides, and he erases the board as he writes. He is very knowledgeable about calc topics, but he also expects you to get calc just like he does. Grades are almost entirely test-based. Would take again, but not an easy class.
Calc 1 is dull as rocks, but Dr. Morgan gives clear lectures and clear expectations. Practice problems aren't graded, but they are NOT optional -- exams are modeled after them. Do the problems immediately after the related lecture and go to office hours if you struggle. Attend recitation too, and you'll pass.
Great guy overall. Exams are modeled after the optional practice problems, make sure you do them. The Calc1 final is departmental, it's atrocious. But that's just the math department at Pitt.
Dr. Morgan is easily the best math professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely informative and help build a good foundation for understanding. I strongly encourage you to complete ALL of his practice problems if you want to succeed. It will be painful, but it will help. He will prepare you adequately for the departmental final.
Dr. Morgan was decent. The exams were fairly hard. Lots of homework but some is optional. DO THE OPTIONAL HOMEWORK!! He tasks some questions directly from the optional homework.
This professor goes very fast and doesn’t go into the conceptual aspect of things. He was also extremely rude to me through an email because I decided to withdrawal and asked for his advice. Basically, he told me I didn’t try and should’ve done more homework and studying.
Overall Dr. Morgan had good organized lectures and did his best to answer any questions. Unfortunately the quizzes and exams were difficult. The examples gone over in class are always so much easier than exam material, and the departmental final killed me. The math department has stupid rules, and I had to retake the class because I got a C- by 1%.
Dr. Morgan is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explains topics clearly in an engaging way, and he emphasizes a conceptual understanding. His partial credit and curved exams gave me a B+ in the class, but the departmental final brought me down to a C+. The class was manageable, but the final (and the Pitt math policy) was rough.
Morgan was a really good fit for my style of learning. He explained the "how's" and "why's" behind the math which made it easier for me and he is willing to help you with problems in the HW that you get stuck on. He would both algebraically and geometrically explain concepts. Overall, I enjoyed his class and believe that he was very effective.
I dont even know how to describe this class. Just trust me do not take this teacher's class. It will give you lots of homework and really diffcult exams.
Dr. Morgan is great. He spends time actually making it clear why some equations and theorems are valid which helps you remember and cement the concept. His grading is fair in he provides good resources for studying along with all his lecture notes for studying and review. Overall really smart prof that knows what he is talking about.
Lectures were so unhelpful. Consist of waching him solving a problem on the board, no explainations, then being expected to answer 20 more of those questions for homework. Gave 2 exams and 4 quizzes. Weekly Lon Capa sets due. This was my least favorite class.
Dr. Morgan is a great professor. His lectures are very informative and give examples of the problems you will encounter. He does talk rather quickly and writes on the board instead of having a slide show. Dr. Morgan is very willing to answer questions outside of class as well. I am taking him next semester for Calc 2!
For Calc 1, Dr. Morgan was a great professor. Each week, we had LON-CAPA homework due and a quiz or additional homework due in recitation. He also assigned optional practice problems - DO THESE (similar problems appear on quizzes). If you missed lecture, you would likely fall behind. His exams were hard but fair, and prepared us well for the final.
Solid professor. Talked very fast in lectures. Went in detail but didn't do a crazy amount of practice problems. There were 2 midterms that were curved and one final that was also curved. One or two homeworks per week depending on the week. Book problems and short quizzes alternate weeks.
The best professor ever. He went at the perfect pace. If you make sure to listen during lectures and do your homework, you will be fine for the exams. The exams were fairly easy if you pay attention during class.
Good professor for linalg. You don't really have to go to class since Dr. Morgan uploads his notes (which are very neat and good), so you don't have to buy the textbook or anything. Exams all get curved and are weighted pretty fairly, though the final is worth a lot.
prof is very knowledgeable, and also a clear explainer. good at explaining concepts, i was rarely confused in class and this was calc 2. the canvas page was incredibly organized and clear as well. the prof gives you everything you need to succeed, you just have to take advantage of it. would def take him again for a future class, he was great
Dr. Morgan is an all-around great professor. Although I am not the strongest math student and didn't have the best grade, I learned so much when I had him for calc 1 and 2. His canvas page is the best I have ever seen. It is extremely organized and has a ton of resources. Also, his lecture notes are amazing and very clear. Highly recommend.
Way easier than Calc 1 or 2 at pitt! Prof Morgan posts all notes online and lectures off them, so no need to buy the book or go to lecture. Exams are curved but only by 1 or 2 points. I would say Morgan's exams were harder than the departmental final was. Also gave chance to raise the lowest exam grade depending on final grade. Highly recommend.
While Calc 2 is insanely hard, I really have to say Dr. Morgan was always there to try and help. I was an office hours frequenter and he always took the time to try and break concepts down as best as he could. Great guy and probably one of the most caring profs the math department has.
Dr. Morgan is a good choice for calc 1. I felt prepared for the departmental final. Quizzes in recitation can be challenging but can boost your grade if you do well. He curves both exams and the final. Didn't always respond to emails but he does have office hours. Solid choice overall.
There are only 2 main exams and 1 final exam, so the tests count for a lot in this course. Professor Morgan is a great teacher and goes over a lot of material in class so be ready to take notes. His tests are medium difficulty, study his notes, lon-capas, quizzes, and review problems he posts. Do that and you'll be fine.
He definitely does not deserve some of the harsh ratings. He's a great professor who always explained concepts thoroughly and prepared his students well for the exams with study guides (Use these and the practice exams to prepare for the test and you will do just fine).
Dr. Jeremiah Morgan was a fantastic calculus professor. His quizzes and exams were fair but difficult. There were small curves applied to the exams. One thing that he did that stood out was give optional practice problems that resembled questions on exams or quizzes. His office hours were also very personal.
Prof. Morgan was a great professor for Calc 2. Calc 2 is not an easy course, and I did struggle at the start, but Morgan's lectures and office hours were extremely helpful and catered to my learning style. He had very fair exams and prepared well for the final. Be sure to do the practice and go to office hours, and you'll do fine in the course.
I love Dr. Morgan! His lectures are perfectly paced and his explanations are very detailed! He mostly uses examples to explain concepts, not words. He provides lots of resources (ex: detailed notes, youtube videos, and extra practice) to help you succeed. His exams are decently hard, but I feel like he prepares you well. Would recommend taking him!
The professor uploaded all the notes and lecture videos, which was helpful. The webwork assignments were a pain. The exams are hard, but we have previous sample exams to study over. The final 40% of the grade is very make-or-break. The professor doesn't allow for much extra credit or to redeem many points. This is also a very tough class.
Great professor, good lectures and gives students tons of resources to use outside of class. He explains things in a very coherent and clear way. overall would recommend
Calc 2 is a hard class, as this is my second time taking it, and Dr. Morgan was great at getting his points across. He had a good amount of homework and quizzes to supplement an "okay" exam grade. He doesn't do many examples in class, but also the math dept isn't great at scheduling so many topics in a semester. He does great with what he is given!
Dr Morgan was an excellent professor. His lectures were excellent and he was very accessible outside of class. His exams were significantly harder than the practice tests that he wrote and the textbook questions he suggested. A majority of your grade is based on exam scores. He is excellent at explaining things when you go in for help.
I thought Dr. Morgan was pretty good. As someone who has never taken BC Calc or Calc 2 I thought he did a great job at explaining concepts and preparing for exams. I did pretty well relatively speaking on the calc 2 final and it was bc of him. Jordan and Jesse further helped my understanding. I prob could've done better but I was taking ochem too.
I took calc 2 with Dr. Morgan this past fall semester and was blown away with how well he conducts his lectures. I was warned that calc 2 was a difficult class, but Dr. Morgan showed that he cared about teaching the material in a way that made the content easy to understand. The exams and assignments were always fair. Would recommend him!
Overall he has good lectures and posts notes and recordings. Final exam is worth 40% with both midterms being 20% each, so 80% of your grade is based on exams. Very tough material and he only gives 1 homework assignment a week, so your grade is very make or break just by 1 exam. He does give past exams to study off but the material is dense.
Very good at explaining concepts. I thought the exams were fair & not too hard (I just didn't study enough). The final was departmental but not that bad. He's definitely one of the better calc professors. 72%, 68%, and 84% on exam 1, 2, and final. He curved each individual exam grade. Very nice and approachable.
While this is a challenging course, Dr. Morgan's lectures were very concise, and he provided lots of helpful/relevant examples. Exams are tough, and the material is dense, but he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. If you put in a lot of hard work, you will be successful in his class. Recommend!
Prof Morgan is a very good calc teacher, his way of teaching was really good. Moroever, he posted all his notes on Canvas so if you missed a lecture or didn't understand something, you could always go back to the notes. Be beware though, his tests took up about 70% of the grade, so one messed up exam, kind of ruined your grade.
Dr. Morgan is a great lecture professor; he takes it slowly so everyone understands and gives relevant example problems. However, I did not like the vibe he gave when it came to asking questions during office hours. It made me feel like a nuisance for asking for help. But maybe that's just me. I also found him to be a decently tough grader.
Dr. Morgan was an excellent professor for Calc0220. The midterms were tough, but fair. He curves all exams, which makes them less stressful. I went to his office hours on multiple occasions and he was super helpful on the problems I asked him about. He covers topics very meticulously, which a lot of people found boring, but I appreciated.
Morgan doesn't go above and beyond but is not a horrible teacher. Your grade is really only dependent on three tests, with the final being worth 40%. My BIGGEST advice to succeed in this course is to WATCH THE VIDEOS! Not the recorded lectures, but the videos he posts along with the notes. Overall just a very average class, you get what you put in.
Great Professor. Explains concepts very well. As long as you attend lectures and recitations you will succeed in this class. Three assessments 2 exams, 1 final. All questions were very fair and he prepared the class very well. LON-CAPA due each week, with bookwork due every other. Grades very fairly as well. Would take other classes taught by him.
You'll get everything you need from the lectures. Good at communicating!
He is a clear lecturer. my advice: GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS AND GO TO LECTURES/WATCH RECORDINGS. The final is not that bad, just long but do all the sample finals and practice- there are no curveballs on the dept. final, it's basically exactly the types of probs on the sample. Your final grade will be around what you got on the final exam.
Dr. Morgan is a great lecturer. He is clear, and his board is very neat. He also posts his notes if you don't get it all during lecture. He can be a little boring sometimes, but he is a chill professor and if you pay attention during lecture he'll make sure you know what you need to.
He is a great calc professor and pretty chill. He assigns these homework assignments that are due every week, and alternates every recitation per week of a bookwork assignment due (graded on completion) or a mini quiz. Exams are long, but he gives practice problems beforehand that are very helpful/relevant.
strangely callous
Condescending. It's actually shocking how condescending he is with how nice he looks. You can feel him looking down on you when you interact.
This is my second time taking calc, and Dr. Morgan is 100x better than my last prof. The class is hard, but that's because of the material, NOT the teacher. While Morgan made this class much easier, it still wasn't 'easy'. Curved exams, ignores lowest quiz and 2 bookwork grades. Super fair grading and helps his students as much as he can.
Calc is hard, and the material is the same for all classes, so you cannot rate that. Professor Morgan is a great teacher, he is very caring, and never leaves you on your own. I was terrified of calc, but with him, I was able to grasp on the knowledge to score a really nice grade in the class. I would heavily recommend him, he is really good.
I really enjoyed his lectures and felt like I learned a lot. He post his notes, canvas is very organized, records his lectures, and posts additional resources for every topic. You have weekly loncapa, and for recitation you have a quiz or homework due. His midterms were kind of hard but are curved. His nice but, could come off as rude at times.
This was Dr. Morgan's first time teaching the class, and I'd say he did a pretty good job. Lectures were solid and very proof heavy. 11 homework assignments, two curved midterms, and a final which could replace one of the midterms if you did better. This course was very tough, so go to lectures and really understand the homework proofs.
More work then others but it helps when it comes to tests and are easy A's to raise your grade. Exams are curved and he's good with partial credit. Not necessarily lenient but def not harsh. The attitude is amazing with this man. Always has unnecessary comments and will make you feel dumb. Very condescending and rude depending on what you ask.
This is a straightforward class! The tests are not bad at all if you thoroughly review every homework and every sample test. He is accessible outside of class, just show you try to think through the problems- he will help with understanding concepts. He explains probems and the proper way to solve them clearly. Final is just like the sample finals.
Just don't, lectures will seem easy, and reviews will seem easy then you will be tested on things you never learned in class. You can study for as much as you'd like and no matter what you will fail this class. His practice problems are nowhere near as hard as his tests, and do a terrible job preparing you for them.
literally take anyone else. he does not fully explain anything and expects you to know exactly what he's talking about. also talk
Recitation is an absolute must, lectures help but he sometimes rushes through explanations. Do not skip over the homework. Most of the people that do well in his class are people who math comes naturally to. I recommend going to the TA's office hours instead of his. Some of his grading is overly harsh.
Recitations are a must to pass. Morgan teaches super fast and then expects you to know what you're doing. Had to teach myself the concepts or go to my TA's office hours in order to understand. Exams have questions that either have super hard numbers or concepts we never learned. Would not recommend taking him for Business Calc.
A fine teacher but the tests are always significantly harder than anything ever done in homework or in class. By far the hardest bus calc teacher available. It seems that everyone in the class has a C and over half the class is fighting to not have to retake the class during the final. Take any other teacher.
Terrible Professor. Do not ever take him for anything. He gives out the most obscure tests, and when you ask him a question, it seems like he doesn't care about it or thinks you are dumb. His practice tests are not like his test. He is quite literally the worst math teacher I have had in my life.
so many people did bad in this class...even if uve taken calc in hs it will not help u much. Tests are so much harder compared to what we do in class and the final made me wanna jump out of cathy. The final is 30% of your grade and will end ur grade
Dr. Morgan is the goat, his lectures were really engaging all year long and he gave me lots of help in office hours. A lot of my friends did poorly and complained about him, but honestly, if you show up to his classes and actually pay attention you will do fine. His tests were always difficult but he graded them very fairly and added a nice curve.
This class is easy if you took calc in high school. you get unlimited tries on the homework, and quizzes and tests arent too bad. lowkey didnt go to half the classes, but he was efficient in the ones i showed up to.
