Though the attendance in lecture and lab are mandatory as included in grade, this is a class I actually look forward too. The lecture notes that he prepares are easy and because of that, no one uses the textbook. And the lectures are clear and precise with a jokes being brought up out of randomn Overall, a really good class!
This class is very easy especially for someone who is good at math. If you know how to do math and can factor and things like that, try to get out of this class. He is a good teacher but not a very good explainer when it comes to certain things. Also if you don't like smacking don't take him cause he has the tendency to smack before he talks.
He is very clear in his lectures, and is always helpful in the lab section. I really enjoy the lectures and his notes are always very well arranged such that the textbook is rarely needed for other than webassign assignments. Makes Calc I interesting and borderline fun, especially he's funny at random intervals. Would absolutely recommend.
I really enjoyed having Glass as my professor(he is very cute). I had him for contemporary math and this class was VERY easy. All of the homework is online so you must buy the textbook to do the work. He takes attendance but it isn't for a grade. He is very helpful. The tests are pretty short & he gives a review for every exam. I recommend him!
This class is really easy, and Glass tries to make it interesting. I would definitely suggest taking him for 1301. Some people work on their homework in class. The homework and quizzes are submitted online, and none of it was too difficult. The two lowest homework grades and the lowest quiz grade are dropped.
he's not much of a bad instructor, the thing is you would literally have to devote your entire semester on this one class
Great teacher, easy material!
Dr. Glass is a really good lecturer as he was clear in explaining various concepts. All assignments and exams are on math lab plus which is pretty easy. He is always available during lab if you need any help as well. If you go to lecture and do the assigned homework, you are good to go!
He was very clear during lecture and was always willing and able to help clarify something. Considering that this class has departmental exams, he does his best to review everything that could be on the test during the class prior to the exam.
Okay obviously it's math so ull have to work & practice on it, but Glass is an AMAZING teacher. I took a diff alg prof my fall semester & he was HORRIBLE (had to drop) & most ppl were failing. Glass teaches so WELL. Just go to his lectures, take notes, and do the homework. not guaranteeing an A in this class, but his teaching gets an A+ TAKE HIM
He is so clear in his lectures. I really liked his notes and how he actually did all the math. He comes across as a polite and smart guy. I wish he took Cal2 in Fall.
Mr. Glass is a great teacher and speaks clearly. His examples are easy to follow and if he would not of left my college to teach at UT I would of taken him over and over throughout my college career. I heavily recommend choosing him as a math instructor.
Glass other 2425 professors. Young, fun, and smart man. He has printable fill in notes that help organize the sections into easy test studying materialreferences. It may seem as if he works through his lecture fast sometimes, it is only because he is trying to cover each and every variation that could appear on the test. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
He's great! His lectures are very helpful, he teaches in a way that students can catch easily. Exams are departmental so he has little to no hand in that. The reason easiness is a 2 is because MATH 2425 is meant to make you work! He is very helpful especially if you go to his office hours. Do the homework and you'll get full marks in labs & quizzes
He is a very helpful person, who wants you to succeed in his class and other classes. A true gentleman and a scholar. Truly cares about his students. Easy class if you fill out the notes and pay attention.
He's a great professor, I definitely recommend taking him. Go to class and take good notes. He does his part and if you put in your effort you can easily pass with an A! He gives extra credit.
He grades lab work really harshly so make sure your homework's work looks perfect. Besides that he's a great professor who cares about his students. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK, BUY THE ONLINE CODE. He allows laptops.
HE WAS AWESOME. You can miss class some and be fine because he reviews the class before the actual test. You get to use a 3X5 note card ON THE TEST. You get one retest which is almost the exact same as the original test. If you take his class you will not regret it. Math is/always has been hard for me, but he made a lot of sense. I would take again
Professor Glass's class has quite a bit of homework and wasn't the easiest, but he is extremely helpful and does an excellent job of explaining the material in his lectures. His notes are also helpful and he does his best to help his students succeed.
Don't take him. He's boring and class is boring, and online tests are the worst.
Really helpful instructor. Explained everything clearly and made sure everyone knew the topic before moving on. I recommend him to those who don't really understand math and need it to be broken down more.
Very easy class to take online. There is no way you can fail. His homework is incredibly easy and I managed to get a 100 on every test including the final. He is very helpful.
Calculus 1 is known to be very difficult but Professor Glass really helped a lot with understanding the material. He definitely wants you to succeed and is very friendly, especially during office hours. Also, his notes made it a lot easier when it came time for exams. Do practice tests and HW; get help when you need it and you should do fine.
Great professor, gives greats notes and teaches very well.
Professor Glass is the best calculus professor I could have asked for. He is very clear and gives lots of examples in his lectures. if you are stuck on a problem, he wont directly help you solve it though, he will give a few ideas and he will sit with you until he is confident you understand the material. Would definitely recommend Professor Glass.
AWESOME. He taught so well, MyMathLab has all assignments and attendance to lecture is taken and bonus points awarded for it, so GO TO CLASS. Hours in the lab are logged and you must have a minimum of 30 per semester in the lab. Would take him again. He's very accessible and cares.
Cool professor, always available and ready to help!!
I've taken 4 different math classes at this school and Prof Glass has been the first that took time to teach instead of just reviewing subjects like the students already knew them. I will take any of his classes that I can from this point on. Lots of homework but the only way to learn is by doing the work.
Worst math professor I've ever taken in my life. He talks to himself and the chalkboard more than he talks to the class. I did everything he told us to do in order to prepare for the exams, and I still didn't do well. When I went to his office hours, he told me the only way to pas Cal 1 is if you take it twice. He cant convey the lesson well.
Great Professor, by far one of my favorites. Even if I didn't need credit for his classes, I'd honestly just take him. Very enjoyable and he takes the time to get to know you, though he's pretty bad at names at first haha.
Professor Glass is a really teaches. There are a lot of homeworks in mylabsplus, but it could be a good thing to bring up your grade. All the test questions are from your homework. He is a really organized guy, and actually cares about learning. I hate math, but I like him.
Prof. Glass is incredible. Well surprisingly I have never had a bad UTA math professor. He explains concepts very clearly and he gives notes which are super super helpful. Anything I did not like about the class is not his fault, its the math department. He is a great professor and if you can, take his class.
Professor Glass is excellent on Lecture day. He always stays ahead on lectures so we can get a head start on the Homework. I am not a fan of My Math Labs, but he has nothing to do with us using that. Difficult subject, but he does an excellent job teaching and try to help as much as he can. He drops the lowest quiz grade and homework.
Professor Glass is a very good at explaining math . He is very approachable and super chill. Math 1302 is kind of fast paced so make sure you watch the online lectures then attend the actual lecture. There are quite of few opportunities of extra credit which can really bring up your grade . You are allowed to retake one test for full credit .
Mr. Glass teaches the material effectively and concisely; he teaches the theory and immediately jumps into application. If you don't doze off, you'll pass with a deep understanding of calculus. Exams are worth 20%, 25%, and 35% (in course sequence), homework and quizzes are each 5%, and labs are 10%. Again, great professor. Take his course.
His lectures are very boring but in the lab and outside of class he is very helpful and all in all is a nice teacher. The courses them self that he has to follow are brutal, i did an 11 week and probably 80 things of homework (usually 6 every week) plus the tests are difficult.
Probably the best math teacher/professor I have taken in years. very understandable approachable doesn't make you feel stupid even if you get the wrong answer he's see how you got your answer and then he shows you were you went wrong and how to get it right each time. UTA should give this man a raise or chair in the mathematical department..
One of the best math professors at UTA. He makes class notes, massaged from text book; comes in very handy while reviewing for exams. Gives adequate quizzes which will prepare you well. Homework is optional but doing it pays off.
A Terrible professor. Doesn't teach well at all. He always seems to go on asides that detract from lessons. A lot times he just skips steps expecting everyone to get it right away. Barely gives out any homework but makes up for it with difficult quizzes. I'd rather have daily homework. Nice guy though. Thats about it.
Feedback is immature and relates to his own style. Professionality is out the window. Easy class, if worked with well he does the job and is understandable.
do yourself a favor and take this class at TCC. Math is departmentalized at UTA. they modified the math course this semester and it was incredibly time consuming and frustrating(btw, I used to tutor math). the professor himself is great. He cares for his students and wants to help in any way he can. Sometimes he is a bit aloof, but overall great.
Prof. Glass literally owns a Six Flags season pass! Just like every other ALG class, get ready to complete 2-4 homework assignments a week. Glass has no control over MyLabsPlus, and I would frequently get answers incorrect even when they're "technically correct." He has no control over that, but will change it with no hassle. He's a great prof!
Dr. Glass bent over backwards to help me pass this class when I had technical difficulties and family emergencies. The class is mostly done online with little instructor participation, but he made a point to make himself available to students. My only complaint: the tests count for WAY too much of your grade. But that's the department, not him.
He takes familiar concepts and applies them to the material he's teaching, which helps you to understand better. Tests are similar to homework/quiz questions, so study those and you'll do well on tests. You can also exempt the final and there's a lot of extra credit, which was a huge plus. Overall I really enjoyed this class! Definitely take him!
The online MATH 1301 coursework is easy and time consuming. Use the "Show me an example" feature. I recommend each student to purchase the looseleaf text. The textbook allows the student to complete the homework at a much faster pace and look up solutions. Mr. Glass is not personally invested in the course. He only attends the first and final exam.
He is really a good professor, go with slow pace and then also give some online video lectures to cover things which are not though.
It's hard to find a decent math professor at UTA who won't just leave you in the dust, but if you take this one, you'll be very very happy
Took online. Professor Glass always took the time to explain work . He is accessible for questions and gives plenty of advice to pass and gives extra credit. Made a hard class enjoyable. Nice guy.
kind of overrated in my opinion. Still better than half the professors at the university though. Grades on very few things (quizzes and tests, rarely any homework).
The subject is hard. But the professor tries his best to make us understand. The lab portion is very hard.
You won't pass this class if you don't at least 1-2 hours of homework a night that is graded. Quizzes don't have many questions so if you get one wrong you'll end up with a B. Final is hard. The book makes no sense, so I didn't use it. No extra credit given anywhere. Prepare to write an ESSAY in a MATH class.
I took him for CALCULUS II. His lectures were really nice. I guess it was his TA who made things worse. When walking up to a TA to ask a question, you expect some help. Many times when I went to the TA during the lab, his answers were never straight. His answers were helpful at all. Most of his answers were " You are expected to know that".
Be prepared to spend at least 1 hour a day or more studying. If math isnt you thing youre going to need more time.
This class was hella difficult, but Prof Glass is such an underrated professor He is AMAZING!!!!!!! Please take him
Okay, be prepared to have to teach yourself alot with Readiness Exams. Thinks you like already know a lot. Beware of essay at the end without warning.
Don't listen to all of these reviews, I listened to them and got catfished by what they were saying. He can be a good teacher but he skips over a lot of things to the point where I don't know a thing, I've always been good at math if I know what I am doing, even the people passing his class say they're only passing because they took Cal in HS
Homework was awful.
Glass is a good professor. He is definitely passionate about calculus, and English is his first language. There is a lot of homework, but it only accounts for 5% of the grade. There are only 2 mid-terms, and they account for 20% and 25% of the overall grade. No assigned readings, but textbook is definitely helpful. Very boring lecturer though.
The class feels kind of rushed, and the homework can be tedious and difficult if you don't have a good understanding of how everything works. Overall he's a great guy, but since classes are so short, be prepared to learn a lot on your own through Professor Leonard's YouTube videos.
Teacher seem nice. Teaches from notes, very slow and not helpful. Test are Too LONG and WORK INTENSIVE. If you are lost and confused he expects you to complete even more work on top of the work you can't complete because you do not understand and are already over loaded. Being a harder course the teacher needs to be more aware of students needs.
J. Glass gives great webcast lectures, he is very quick in responding to emails, and is a very fair grader. He grades according to the grading criteria in the syllabus, gives extra credit, and an opportunity to retake an exam. I wish he taught stats!
This professor is very deceptive. He acts like a very nice guy but in reality is very demeaning. His lectures are not very clear. There is also one example for everything and then nothing else to study. His tests are nothing like the homework and only slightly similar to the lectures. He also doesn't curve most of his exams as much as the others.
Mr. Glass is one of the best professors for calculus, teaches from the notes, teaches slowly which is really good.
Very inspirational guy who is interested in math. I love his lectures because I can understand and learn. He also refreshes us on cal 2 questions that involve Algebra, Precal, or cal 1 to know how he did it.
This was my second attempt at Cal 2 (first time being with another professor at UTA) and I can easily say that Professor Glass is amazing. He posts guided notes before each lecture, which makes things easier during class. He does a great job at explaining concepts through drawings or even online models. I learned a lot thanks to him.
Contemporary Math. I've been out of school a very long time, so this class was hard for me. If you recently graduated HS and took algebra/calculus, you will do fine. My son had to help me a lot just so I could pass. Prof Glass is very responsive and I enjoyed his lectures, he's really good at explaining the math concepts.
This has been an extremely frusturatioing class. The lectures are vague and unclear, while the homeworks are complex and rigorous. It is next to impossible to be able to complete the homework and online quizes with the vague and incomplete lectures he gives. The tests are excessively difficult as compared to in class examples and graded harshly.
Professor Glass is awesome. Lectures from notes and goes slowly. Cal II was super easy as he made the concepts crystal clear.
Professor Glass is a bro, if you go to class and pay a decent amount of attention you will do great. I hated math, but he made it a lot easier for me. He is super approachable and really wants you to understand the material. Any bad review he has received is probably because the student put absolutely 0 effort to a class that requires effort.
Glass is an amazing Cal I Professor! He will guide you through the material at a relatively slow pace, but for cal I, that is a good thing. He is also super sweet and is always there to help with anything you need. He also is very practical in that, he will not make you memorize what you don't have to and wants you to succeed.
Professor Glass is an AMAZING professor. I definitely would take his class again. He's very caring and a nice person. His lectures are amazing as well. I would recommend everyone to take his class.
As far as the kind of person Professor Glass is, he's a cool guy. But when it comes to him teaching a class, the experience turns out to be truly bizzare. Lectures are long but feel unfinished, homework provided by none other than mymathlab does not correspond to anything he teaches in class, same goes for tests. I'd look for other options.
Professor Glass is your best chance to pass Cal 1 at UTA. With horrible department exams, Glass is an expert at breaking down the material so that everyone can understand. His efforts to keep the class simple while still teaching all the main concepts and finer details are what makes him great. Don't understand? He will do all he can to help you.
He gives plenty of resources in order to pass the class. There are extra credit assignments to boost your grades and he explains himself well in his live lectures. He really made taking math during a pandemic easy! If you do the homeworks and study for the tests youll for sure pass.
Probably one of the better professors for calculus. The way he teaches calculus makes it seem so much more manageable and elementary and you will appreciate this. Test are a little work intensive but DO ALL OF THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS AND TEST REVIEWS HE POSTS ONLINE and youre good to go. Would take again!
I took online college algebra with Jeremy. With the extra credit process, it's so easy to get extra points and skip the final/retake exams. The workbook in the syllabus says mandatory but I never bought it and still finished in the high 90s. He's very helpful when answering questions. Some will say he gives a lot of homework but it's not bad.
College algebra was super easy for me. I knew most of the material from high school, but there were some new topics that we learned. Professor Glass always made sure to do his best when he could tell that the students were confused about a topic. This class was asynchronous online for me, but he still held optional webcasts to help us learn!
His class was online, but his lectures were better than any other in-person class I had taken. He knows his stuff and he's very understanding and humble. I loved this class and I would for sure recommend taking him.
Easy class and a decent amount of homework. About 2 to 3 assignment per week. 3 exams, 1 retake, and 1 comprehensive final exam. All exams must be taken in person on Saturdays at 9am.
He explains in detail how to solve math problems
This class was good. I ended up with and A. As long as you do the assignments and try on the exams youll be fine. There is a 24 hour grace period on assignments. There is an essay but it is pretty easy. There are a lot of assignments it was like 3-4 hw and like 25 questions each so it is time consuming. Course was easy and I would take him again.
Great professor all around. He spends time on concepts you don't understand and doesn't make you feel dumb for not knowing something or asking a question. Unlimited homework attempts, but hw is due before you learn the material so hw grades could suffer if you don't understand it first time. The TA was amazing and super helpful with q's and emails.
hes really good at explaining math. got him by accident but hes a great teacher and take him if you have a chance
Enjoyed the course quite a lot! Total of 3 exams and a final comprehensive exam. Lots of assignments and a quiz every week. May feel fast-paced. Highly suggest doing exam reviews, it helps SO MUCH! Plus, you get an extra 5 points towards your exam! There is also a budget worksheet you be working on as your final draft.
I was honestly scared to take Calc 1 at UTA because of all of the things I heard about it. However, taking Calc 1 over the summer with Glass was one of the best decisions I made. It was a lot of work but just stay on top of all of the assignments and quizzes and just utilize all the practice exams he gives. Getting an A is def attainable if you try
First online class I ever took, it was structured pretty well and was organized. I'm not good in math at all so I was expecting failure but Prof Glass provided extra credit and actually cared. Really enjoyed this class!
A good professor! He wrote the textbook, and he knows what he's talking about! Give's a great amount of review material and every assignment has a 24 hour grace period. The coursework does go kinda fast but if you pay attention in class and ask questions you'll be fine. For sure a class you need to study for though! Don't miss lecture!!
If you want an easy class, this is the one to take. He's a really good professor and knows how to explain things. Held one weekly webcast that wasn't required but recommended. Assigned about 1-4 weekly homework assignments. You have to come on Saturdays at 9 am to take exams. Reviews are 5 extra credit points on your exam. Easy signature assignment
Do not take online, he does not teach if you are. I believe he is a great professor if you take him in person but online hell no. He is getting a free paycheck for having a virtual class lol.
He's a nice guy, but not a very good educator I'd consider him more so of a proctor cause he just kinda tells you what to read doesn't actually teach. He will give a couple 10-20min videos a week and then assign homework so you will absolutely be on YouTube self teaching. If you actually want to learn and be good at math Id recommend someone else.
I have never been good at math, but the contemporary math class online was actually enjoyable for me. I feel like I actually learned a lot in his class and you get chances to get extra credit and he drops your 2 lowest HW and quiz grades. He also replaces your lowest midterm exam grade with your final exam grade, if the final grade is higher. 10/10
Glass was great, he did the best he could with a short time frame to teach things. He gives out quizzes that have a lot of weight to them so make sure to study for those. Recommend going to office hours for extra help if the lecture goes too fast. I think I wouldn't be able to understand Calc3 with another professor.
