Excellent professor. Always has great discussions and is extremely personable. Gives homework each class, but it is always easy. I highly recommend him; his class is one of the few I actually enjoy going to. Exams are simple; he lets you bring notes and gives you the questions beforehand.

Mr. Nickerson is a very good professor and person in general.He has tremendous care for his students. He wants nothing more but for his students to do well. My only problem with his class is the sources he allows his students to use. On this academic level I think certain sites should not be allowed.

Easy, nice, helpful and understanding. Take him if you have any interest in making your major Communications. I got an A- in his class because I didn't do fantastic on 2 exams. Really a good teacher, I really would reccomend him for PB Spking. Class isn't hard at all, I really had no intrest in PB speaking but I had to take it. It really wasn't bad or hard at all. Sometimes lectures were boreing, but thats life.

I took him for COM121 and COM125 he is a great teacher! So understanding about any situation. He really makes sure his classes are intersting and always has some type of video for us to watch. He is deff more of a discussion type teacher than a lectuerer. He's a great teacher!

A few people told me he was a good professor, and my god he is the best. I had a really great time in his class. His tests were a little hard, but his lectures were enjoyable. His group project is a little hard, but if you do well in participation and do the assignments, you will pass.

I had him before for COM 105 so I was familiar with his teaching style. Very good class since you learn the theory of Mass Media in general. He shows a lot of cool videos as well, and also makes the class interesting (even if its an 8 AM class). His class fills up quick so sign up soon if you want to take the class early than later.

Very easy class. It basically consists of watching youtube videos and doing very easy assignments. If you follow his formats for the speeches, youll be fine! The only thing is the class can be very boring but overall a great one to take--so glad I did. Do it!

Glad I took this course as a summer class! Professor J, was very clear in his expectations and very fair. He is very laid back, which seemed to help many with public speaking fears. I had Nickerson for 105&121. He is a wonderful professor and a very sweet person. He is always willing to work with students and has a passion for teaching. His stories were always interesting and funny. The work can be languid from time to time, but it shouldn't deter you from his class. I think he is the best com professor at MCC.

Very cool and relatable who makes you feel comfortable to speak in front of the class. The speeches are easy- although, maybe too easy. I only feel slightly more comfortable speaking in front of a crowd coming out of this class. It definitely helped, though. Seeing as most MCC students need to take public speaking, I would definitely recommend him.

The sweetest teacher ever. He truly cares about his students and my class was so comfortable with each other that giving speeches became so easy. He was interested in everything that's said and he is a genuinely great person.

Prof. Nickerson is excellent! His class was fun, educating, and easy. There are 3 speeches and barely ever hw besides preparing the speeches. He is a great guy and extremely helpful. TAKE HIM!! That had to have been one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Get up there, do your speech and thats it. No final, no hw, just show up and thats it. Really down to earth friendly guy, real easy going. Would take again for sure.

I took the hybrid version of his class. While he is a great guy and I reccomend him, I suggest you take his regular class. The hybrid class is full of online discussion boards, which are pointless and time wasters. Also despite what he says you don't need the book, he scans all the pages you need online.

He was a really easy going guy. I took him for winter and you only had to write 3 speeches and one 2 pg paper. Speeches were to inform, demonstrative, and the last one was a persuasive one. There are no tests. You get graded based on attendance, speeches and post speech evaluations (2 page paper evaluating how you did)

I am beyond thankful I chose Professor Nickerson for Public Speaking. I was like most people, I never wanted to take a public speaking class and waited until the last minute. Nickerson is an easy going guy, such an awesome person. He knows how to make everything casual and comfortable for the class. I definitely recommend him!

He tells you how he wants a speech to be done very clearly. You have to write about 5 2-3paged papers throughout the course but that's it. Don't get a book, it's never used. Make sure you're there to listen to your classmates speeches because you can lose points on your speech or participation!

I took this class a few years ago while I was at MCC. It was a fundamentals of public speaking class, so forgive me if I got the course code wrong. Like I said, it's been a few years. But he was an absolutely amazing professor. He took the time to explain things to you and encouraged you. Wrote my recommendation letter to Rider. Awesome professor!

Absolutely amazing Professor! Really tries to get the class engaged and to respect one another. Three speeches throughout the semester with a randomized order for when you go. It's definitely an easy class. Extremely clear grading criteria, especially with the rubric. Tip: prepare speeches ahead of time or you'll hate yourself for it.

I took a hybrid online class and he was great- easy message board posts and clear criteria for speeches. Very lenient with what was expected and only ever gave positive feedback- definitely a great professor for your first speech class. If I had to I would definitely take him again! He's a nice guy and really easy, and you learn a lot from him too.

people have to understand that when they sign up for this class, it is a COMMUNICATIONS class. prof nickerson is all about participation and exchange of ideas. he is a great listener and allows everyone's voice to be heard. be prepared to learn about theories and to read the textbook closely. also took him for com121, most fun class i ever had!!

I have always been petrified of standing in front of a classroom so the idea of taking a class based solely on public speaking scared me to death. However, Professor Nickerson is a very calm and cool guy, teaches the class very well and makes you comfortable. The outlines really help as well. Took it as a 4 week course but wish it was longer.

Prof. J is a compassionate instructor who is very approachable and really helps his students relax and increase their self confidence when presenting in front of an audience. He explains concepts very well, eagerly supports his students, and teaches little tips that help with speech assignments. You will be graded mostly on your speeches.

Prof. Nickerson, was great, he was an easy grader. As long as you study your speeches and put in effort you'll pass. I'd recommend to improve your speeches, every single time. honestly just show up for your speech. he doesn't mark attendance, but go every now and then. he's nice, caring, and chill. his lectures were a little boring, but he gives good feedback. make sure you have an outline, make eye contact, don't say um/uh, and meet the time requirement. thats how you pass. i wouldve gotten an a but i missed my final

He really is the best teacher and hes just a really good man like he cares for all of his students as his kids cause he has a son who is in high school just like 1 or 2 years younger than most of his students so he says that he really cares and he wants to give everybody an A hes also a very easy grader and bumps up final grades one letter ;-)!!!

The best and easiest public speaking professor at middlesex if you are nervous about taking the class then take nickerson he honestly tries too make everybody feel comfortable while doing speeches and is a very easy grader as well I got a B+ in every speech and missed 5 classes but still ended with an A- (91) he's one of the best professors at MCC!

Prof. J. is a kind person and an easy grader. As long as you do the outline and put the effort into giving your speech, you will pass easily. He also is lenient with the speech times, I was under the time limit multiple times throughout the semester and still never received anything below a B.

He gives great feedback and makes everyone feel like they did a great job. We didn't use the book at all and he told us to buy a previous version of the book for cheap but you don't even have to do that.

Im not the type of person to come on here and leave comments but this professor is so worth it. I had him for com 105 and 121 and hes honestly AMAZING. He actually cares about his students and is extremely knowledgeable. Def take him and dont hold back! Youll love him!!

Prof Nickerson was very easy going. A fee discussions to be answered on Canvas and 3 presentations (pretty easy). Easy grader and gives good feedback. Would have gotten an A but i missed about half of the discussions on cavas however ID take him again passed with a B

Nickerson is so patient, he knows most people are nervous about speaking and does not alter your grade for being nervous. Class is mandatory worth 10%. People lost the most points from screwing up their outlines, not on the actual speech, so just follow the format he gives you and you will get an A. He loves to see improvment so listen to him.

Its an amazing professor

One of the best professors I've had in my class experience so far. Professor J is very understanding and insightful and cares a lot about his students. He'll work something out with you if there's any issues. Make sure you show up to class for discussion grades. Reaction papers are graded well as long as you put good effort in always. Show u care!

Took it as a summer course. 2 presentations were 2 minutes. 1 informative presentation - 5 min, 1 demonstration- 6 min, 1 persuasive-7min . Likes to see improvement even if it's small. Take him, you won't regret it. You must show up on the day your speech is due, he won't give you a chance afterwards and also show up when others present.

Public speaking was one of my biggest fear. Professor Nickerson's class made it pretty easy to face this fear. He respects all his students and understands his student's capacity, he's very encouraging. I cannot express in words how grateful I am that I had the chance to take his class, I learned so much about myself. I highly recommend him.

He is a great professor, I took his class in the summer so it was more condensed and more important to make every class. He is an easy grader and he really does help you feel more confident speaking in front of the class. Easy lectures, he is very easy to understand. If he gets through everything he needs to he let's you out early too.

Mr. Nickerson was extremely easy going. Do the homework assignments and get an A on the assignment regardless he's an easy grader. You give three speeches throughout the class and for all of them he's extremely supportive and an easy grader towards them too. Most laid back teacher Iv'e had at middlesex. funny awkward guy enjoyed his class a bunch.

Professor Nickerson is one of the best professors I've had at MCC. He made public speaking interesting and gave really good feedback on your speeches. Every speech you were given in advance and gives you enough time to prepare for your speeches. Make sure you do everything that he tells you to do and you'll pass the class.

prof nickerson is a great professor . just show up to class , do what he asks you to do and you get an easy A. Easy grader . Easiest A i ever had .

Professor Nickerson is very attentive to his students and cares for their improvement. He gives great feedback and answers any questions or concerns in person or through email. His grading criteria is very clear and as long as you put the effort to attend class and present your speeches to the best of your ability, you will get a very good grade.

He is AMAZING!!! I always got so anxious when giving a speech but he was so nice and made u feel comfortable when up presenting. Definitely recommended him especially if u get nervous presenting in front of the class

Prof Nickerson is the nicest person I have ever come across in my life!. He is so caring and truly understands what it is like to stand up in front of the class and give a speech. He always makes you feel like you did great. I personally know I did not do that good at all and i passed with a A+ and I'm like the shyest person out there! TAKE HIM!

Very nice person. My class got changed to remote learning due to the pandemic but if you can , take him. He made presenting much easier and will help in any way possible.

Professor Nickerson is genuinely my favorite professor at MCC - Edison. Although we only had Zoom meetings for lectures, he really made me feel confident in my speaking. He genuinely wanted to talk to you and make you laugh! I felt comfortable in his class and he is VERY heavy on making sure you're comfortable! He was never rude nor mean. Loved him

He is by far one of the most relaxing professors I have ever had. He listens to your speeches and even has a conversation with you like a regular person to make you comfortable. I unfortunately took his class on zoom due to covid, but he does not force you to turn the camera on. Grades easy, makes you laugh, and is comfortable to talk to.

such a great professor! one of the best in mcc for sure! he doesnt make us turn on the camera (remote live) and hes so attentive to our speeches he understands that people have anxiety or fear of public speaking and he always has nice things to say after our speeches his class is super easy i 100% recommend taking him

Professor Nickerson was an astounding professor! he doesn't give a large work load, his lectures are short sweet and to the point. he gives feedback and grades right away. and he cares about his students enough that he located a free public text book for his students! I will definitely take any class that he teaches.

The absolute nicest professor you can ever have at MCC. He is very caring for his students and the topics discussed in class were very fun to have. As long as you do the assignments needed, you should at least get a 90 without any trouble. One of the best choices to have for a communication course at MCC. Definitely try to recommend him to anybody.

He is one of the great professors at Middlesex County College. Only three speeches and you are good to go. He is an easy grader, supporting, and caring professor. I really enjoyed his lectures.

Prof J is hands down best professor in mcc. He cares about his students individually and is very kind. You can tell he likes to teach and wants his student to learn as much as they can. He's cool and down to earth. He makes everyone feel comfortable. This class is necessary as a life skill. To help students, free downloadable book. Learned alot!

Honestly the best professor @ MCC. He knows people don't like public speaking so he allows you to make speeches with your cam off. Only had about 5 assignments which were all super easy. He wants to make sure you improve and always gives you back good critique, very chill grader as well. I'd retake the class solely off his character, he's amazing

Best professor at MCC! Picked his class from these ratings and wasn't disappointed. He's an awesome professor and his lectures are enjoyable. From my first speech to my last, I saw so much improvement. Great guy, and amazing professor. 10/10 would take again. If you're considering this class, take it without hesitation, it's worth it.

Really great professor! Makes you feel comfortable about speaking in class, my class was on Zoom which was a bit difficult because you can't see others when your speaking but he gives great feedback on your speeches. Overall I would take him again for another class if I needed it, hes funny and cares about his students.

if you pay attention and take notes you dont need the book for COM105, I promise very laid back assignment-wise, but incredibly insightful, and class participation matters sometimes the class will get carried away, so staying on topic is advised- but really fun environment he cares about every student individually, chat with him and you'll see!

His lectures can be a tad boring/repetitive/common sense but overall, he's a very sweet and easygoing prof. He doesn't give much homework and you only have 3 speeches overall, but he will do his best to help you pass. If you can sit through the boredom of a bunch of half-assed monotone speeches and his kind of monotone voice it's an easy A.

The professor is super kind and makes the class fun. With mostly just speeches, it's an easy A if you put in the work. Unstuck ai was great for quick speech prep.

Professor Nickerson has genuinely been the best teacher I've ever had. He's kind, caring, understanding, and gives people way too many chances. It's a little sad, people will try using chat GPT multiple times in his classes, and he genuinely loves teaching, so it's sad to see people be disrespectful to him like that.. 100% taking him a 3rd time.

He is soo understanding and knows most people don't like public speaking. You get to pick the topic of your speeches and he gives great feedback on them. As long as you don't read from a script, he will take points off for doing so, you'll do great and you can use powerpoints as well. Best professor!

Mr. J is the Lebron of Public Speaking 🐐!! He's so compassionate and fosters an exquisite classroom environment, especially for those of us who are typically more anxious when speaking. You'll never catch yourself having a bad moment in his class and he truly wants all of his students to succeed.

Definitely take him!! The sweetest professor ever. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but he notices who comes to class, and I feel like he has more leniency in grading those students. Either way though, super generous grader. I think he's the only public speaking prof who doesn't use a textbook. Very understanding that some students r shy abt presenting

Very patient with speeches and acknowledges student efforts. Went in disliking public speaking and ended up impressed by how I could do just fine; this class works with practice.
