Took his class "with technical influence." Great professor! Very clear and helpful. Doesn't make you do BS assignments that you won't learn from, there was minimal paper-writing and a lot of discussion. He tells you when there's a test and what it will be on. Its usually a regurgitation of a handout from the week before. Lots of discussion. :) A+++

Professor Pilarski was great. As long as you attend his class, read the material, and turn assignments in on time you will do great. His assingments are simple and he does give quizess. He is going to law school in the Fall (2011) so sadly he will not be teaching any longer. Overall he was great!

He is a nice person but he is very disorganized and really should not be a professor. We hand in an assignment and three weeks later he will post grades... This is his job and he cant even do it well.

Def. a professor worth taking. This class is fun, while still being worth your money. Just come into this class with an open mind, and a good sense of humor and you should be fine. Make sure to do all your assignments (and they're pretty well spaced out) and you should expect at least a B. If you're looking for an ENC tacher, this is the one!

Great professor, honestly most of his class is easy learning. It's easy because he keeps it interesting. If you are a log and do not enjoy class discussion, it may not be for you. He engages his students to think while guiding you along the way. Homework is your reports which may feel overwhelming if you don't start early but it is very possible.

Mr.Pilarski is an awesome teacher, he keeps you interested throughout the whole class period. His quizzes are pretty easy and he is more than willing to help students with anything they dont understand regarding the work he assigns. BEWARE: He kills trees...like none other.

This is a great class! He offer extra credit, and he is very far on grading! He is funny, and he engages the class in discussion. I don't like essays, but we write essays that are based on what we need like resumes and cover letters. He is very organzied, and the class is extremely laid back. Professor Pilarski is a great instructor. He is very helpful, and clear when it comes to lessons. I am currently in his Comp 1 class. I am signed up to take him next semester for Comp 2 as well. I can't wait. I have learned so much and the work load is bearable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

He is a fun professor. Not your typical, boring, English professor.

Awesome professor to take. The assignments during the beginning of the semester are easy. They are business documents like: résumés, cover letters, and memos. Quizzes are easy. You will also make a blog for this class. Overall work load was pretty fair for an English class. I highly recommend taking this professor.

Keeps things interesting and teaches skills you can actually use! I still use the layouts he taught when creating business documents (formal letters, my resume, letter of application or inquiry, etc.). Not your typical boring English class; great professor; would definitely recommend.

Professor P. is great, he is very interactive and helps everyone feel comfortable enough to participate in discussions and group projects. As for as his grading and the assignments that he gives, they are fairly decent. If you actually try you will get the grade you deserve. He also accepts late papers but of course he takes points off.

Prof P is amazing! He is very fun and wants you to pass. There were 5 essays, and the only tests were a midterm and final. The quizzes are similar to the review sheet so study, go to the writing lab and you will get an A.

Cool and awesome professor. I'm currently taking him for comp II tech and it's easy! He explains the homework before he assigns it to us. We go over the quiz review. He makes sure we are prepared for whatever he assigns us to do. (P.s I find him handsome)sorry girly crush lol

Professor P is great. Lively class, full of fun discussions and talk. The technical writing heavy course is easy with him. He helps you out along the way and tell you what he wants and doesn't want. Show up to class, and do the work and you'll get a B. Getting an A isn't hard either.

Great class to take if u want to actually learn about comp. He talks a lot but all the information is clearly understood. I am a visual learner so I like that he gave pictures and examples. His quizzes are easy but you have to pay attention i class.

He was funny, laid back, and really understanding. He is really helpful with assignments and doesn't assign too much work. He gives out a few quizzes throughout the semester but if you read the textbook and look over your notes, its extremely easy. I loved his class. He gives breaks if you have a two hour class. Never cancels class.

Overall good professor. A few personality quirks but he is likeable and it is clear that he enjoys teaching. Their is a lot of off topic discussions but it makes for an interesting lecture although sometimes it would be nice if class ended earlier once the material was covered. Still, I think I would take again.

Professor Pilarski is one of the most hilarious, caring professors you could ever have at FSW. He gives extra credit and his lectures are so funny. There are 4 papers, a midterm and a final exam. He provides exercise sheets for the lesson, as well as review sheets before the midterm and final. Studying the reviews are crucial to passing.

He is incredibly clear and concise with what he expects from you and he gives you ample time to go over assignments while giving you feedback on your work to ensure you get an A. I love Professor P! He's an awesome teacher ( makes everything you need to know super clear), makes the lectures funny and entertaining, and is willing to spend as much time outside of class helping you. I'd definitely recommend him. You learn a lot in this class but it isn't hard to get an A if you apply his corrections in your essays.

I would 100% recommend this professor. If you do not know how to write a college paper, you will by the end of this course. There are a lot of quizzes but he gives study guides so they are pretty easy. He makes class fun and teaches you in the ins and outs of MLA and proper grammar. We wrote 3 papers and then 2 (4 pg) papers combined in the end.

I'm glad I found Pilarski after going through a couple of others. He made it so much easier to learn and pass the course. Always willing to help students when they ask for it. Attendence is recommended even if not mandatory. He doesn't cram so much info into one class. The assignments are mainly the few essays. I might take him again for Comp 2. :)

Professor Pilarski is a weird, hilarious guy and still a good teacher. There's a lot of times where showing up to class isn't necessary, but when he decides to get involved he does it well. He posts sample papers and bibliographies for every paper assigned, and he always leaves helpful comments. He has a weird sense of humor, but he means well.

I really enjoyed this class! The course work only included five essays, and we just had a few quizzes and tests. Pilarski is a wonderful professor, and I would recommend him to anyone.

(Comp 2 Technical) He is very clear on what he expects, and is not a heavy grader. He also provides feedback, examples, and some extra credit. We learned a lot of things that will definitely be of use in the future. Put in the effort and you'll be fine! I recommend this course and professor.

Amazing prof!! Loved this guy! If I tried I could have gotten an A, he does not really grade extremely late work, but at the end of the semester, he might grade them to improve your grade. Grades once a month or so, but does not care if a day or two late just as long as you do the assignment before he grades it. Do the major assignments on the syllabus or watch your grade drop a letter grade for participation. TAKE HIM!

He is absolutely amazing!! I would highly recommend taking him. He is not a hard grader, as long as you do your work he will work with you. Professor Pete is amazing! He gets right to work, and he will always make sure his students get what ever they need for his quizzes. He is just amazing and any one can get a good grade with him, but you need to do the papers otherwise you won't be able to pass his class.

Took this professor for Composition 2 Technical and I enjoyed it very much! As long as you put in the effort, you'll have no trouble at all. He provides examples, feedback on your work, extra credit, and additional help if it is needed. You will learn things that will definitely be of use, especially in the workplace. Even though he expects a lot from his students, he is definitely lenient to a degree. His assignments are all very clear. Definitely recommend. The passion is definitely there as well. It helps to know your professor is knowledge for sure!! He emails back phenomenally quickly. Do yourself a favor and take him.

Pilarski is a wonderful Prof, helps you understand material, goes over everything, has high expectations for his students, but will help with anything. Took his class last semester and is looking fwd to comp 2, really no need for text book only to go over certain material for your own understanding.

DO NOT be afraid to take Prof Pilarski in fear that you will fail his class. His work is straight-forward and very easy to understand. He is clear on what he wants from you, and does not ask for too much. Although the class consists of mainly listening to him talk, it is very important to attend class if you do not want to stay behind.

Be prepared to do many essays, do not put off essays at the last minute! He offers help on the weekend for extra credit opportunities.

He could easily make the whole class laugh with his witty humor. If you pay attention and correct all mistakes on the rough draft, then you'll pass.

He gives you feedback on every essay, makes plenty of time to help you with anything and everything and also his study guides for the midterm and final are so helpful and only puts whats on the test.

This English class was a breeze for me. If I ever had a concept I didnt understand, Id ask for help and hed explain it. Also if you did your homework and tested well on his quizzes, he was more than happy to review your up coming assignment and tell you what needed adjusting.

Great person in general. He always made jokes and handed out worksheets to study to study for the quizzes he does. He knows what he is talking about and I enjoyed his assignments as they were unique. They weren't the usual essays that professors assigned but stuff you would use outside the class. There was one essay at the end and thats it.

I took this class in the Fall 2019 semester, and he is an amazing professor, he assigns a lot of work, but he grades fairly, he also makes a lot of jokes, and you will use the textbook a couple of times in the class, but it is very helpful because of the MLA guide

Gives alot of essay's that lead to a huge essay at the end but if you go to his office hours and really try to show him you care, you'll get a good grade in the class. Professor Pilarski is an overall good professor in my opinion. He is very picky on the works cited in your papers as well as proper MLA formatting. No matter how great you wrote your essay, if it is not structured properly he won't give you a good grade. Besides that, he's an easy-going professor. If you do the work and show up then you will pass. Big on essays, Tough grader on the essay portions, lectures are long but over all I learned a lot from his class and the grade is partially my fault for not submitting and essay on time. Instead of writing about something pointless, he chooses the topic of your career so writing in his class is interesting. Taking him again!!

Honestly I thought he was a pretty good professor. To me hes super funny but youd have to like dark humor to agree with me. You definitely have to work for your grade but if you put in the effort you will see results. But if you are looking for an easy class to pass try someone else.

Professor Pilarski has been my go to Professor for any questions regarding essay papers due for any class. He will put his time and effort into the students who want to succeed. He will even go out of his way to help you format a paper for other classes such as scientific APA format paper. One of my favorite professors.

Be aware that this class involves lots of essay writing, so if you don't like that then pick a different professor. That being said, he's always willing to answer questions and usually leaves clear instructions for improving one's essay after the rough draft has been submitted.

I think the people who don't like him are because of his personality which I honestly found hilarious. He is not a "politically correct" professor but he is still respectful so don't take if you are a radical from any side. His classes are actually fun and he will give you good feedback, especially during office hours. Handouts are very important.

The best English professor I have ever had. Many fun assignments! The final paper is probably the only difficult assignment about his class, but other than that this class should be an easy A. He encourages that you go to his office hours, he literally tells you exactly how he wants his work done, so I encourage meeting with him. Take him for an A!

Profesor P is one of the best professors i've taken at FSW so far. Lectures are genuinely interesting and he teaches stuff that's useful for the class and in the real world. Tough grader but he states what his expectations are clearly so that helps. He LOVES questions, so if you have any misunderstanding just ask and he'll answer it clearly.

Professor was very nice and informative. Practice quizzes are always given before the real quiz so getting an A should be easy. All quizzes are also open note (you can use practice quizzes as notes). As long as you do the papers, and use notes on the quizzes you should get an A or B.

Was taking this class in person but got switched to zoom after the hurricane. He was super on top of things and graded in a timely manner. Stickler for correct MLA but he tells you what you did wrong. If he ever gives a larger assignment, he always gives smaller assignments that help/prepare you with the big one. All answers to quizzes are in notes

Professor Pilarski was an amazing teacher, I had to re-take this course after 6 years and thanks to him I learned everything I needed to know to pass the course with an A. As long as your willing to come to class, listen, take notes, and put effort into your papers you will enjoy his class. He is great at answering your questions as well.

Professor Pilarski has to be one of the best professors at FSW. I took him for both ENC1101 and 1102. His 1101 really helps for 1102 since you know already the correct formatting. He's always available for office hours and gives great feedback. If I could I would take another one of his classes.

I would strongly recommend that you visit his office for papers or take advantage of the workshops he offers. All quizzes align with what is taught in the lectures, so the lectures are essential.

He can come off strong at first, but you'll do great if you attend all classes, do your work, study for the quizzes, and check your work during his office hours. The essays outlined the expectations well, giving us enough time to complete them. While all the assignments may seem daunting, they were manageable, and the essays were never crazy long.

I went in not knowing what to expect, but I had a great time expanding my topic and research throughout the semester. Each paper sets up the next until a two-part final essay, which at that point in the semester was just a matter of compiling everything. Overall it's super fun and laid back as long as you put in the work.

Professor Pilarski's ENC1102 class was a great experience. The lectures were engaging, and he provided helpful feedback. While the workload was heavy, the assignments were valuable for improving writing skills. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for quiz prep.

Amazing professor. He gives great feedback and will make sure you understand a topic if you ask. Available outside of class hours and is happy to look at your paper if you bring it to him. He can be a bit heavy on making sure you know proper MLA format, but other than that, he is a really nice guy who cares about his student's success.

Professor Pilarski is great. He gives solid and practical writing advice. He is also quite funny and down-to-earth. I learned a lot about sentence structure and grammar that I did not know about. I found his sections regarding different sources, MLA-9 citations, resumes, and professional writing to be most helpful. I recommend taking his class!

The test study guide helps a lot with the test. Same questions, just rewritten differently. The assignments are pretty easy. Attendance really matters, and he does not like students showing up late! He really does make time for you if you need help. If he sees that you're trying and going to his office hours for help, it helps your grade a lot.

If you put in effort, you will pass. He is available outside of class, so if you want to be sure of a good grade, MAKE USE OF THEM. He will literally point out anything he'd take points off over as if he's actually grading and what to make changes to that will give you a high score on your paper. The tests were easy if you use his study guides

I took Pilarski for my Comp I class and at first, I wasn't so sure about him but after more time, he turned out to be a great professor. His office hours and availability are what helped me the most, you literally bring the essay to him and he will fix it up for you to submit. Just show effort and ask questions, and make sure the format is 100%.

Very clear with his grading criteria, you will need to write about 12 pages split up in 3 essays, but very easy. Very strict with attendance. There were 8 tests, minus the midterm and final exam. He is always available to help you, in class or during his office hours.

I do think if you're going to take an English professor you should take him, BUT he is very opinionated and he is basically a contrarian/naysayer in almost every point. I think his whole thing is playing devils advocate which is fine, except when you agree with him and then he's like “well, no not that…”. Btw go to office hours for every paper.

I'd totally take this class again!! The professor is really good at explaining things and makes the material easy to understand. He genuinely cares about his students. You actually learn a lot without feeling stressed. Highly recommended!!

Great teacher.

Cool guy. he is able to talk about anything in detail. When grading essays, he can be tough. Funny during class lectures. Offered notes. Quizzes where esay. Was able to explain everything clearly. Does care even though sometimes he may not show it. his final was cool because we read a story he wrote and wrote an essay on it. helpful.

Professor Pilarski is one of the best professors. He clearly explained what he was looking for in essays and showed how to format everything correctly. Go to him and ask questions during office hours if you need help. He provides great feedback and genuinely wants his students to succeed. His class should be an easy A if you actually put in effort.
