Seems like a nice guy, extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter. Looks to be a very interesting class.
Best professor I've ever had!
worst teacher doesnt explain anything so weird!
Dr. Tasch was one of the best teachers I've ever had. He was compassionate, caring towards students, and very interesting. The course material was medium - easy. There were map quizzes all throughout the semester, a lot of extra credit, and 3 (50 question exams). I would recommend anyone take Dr. Tasch; he is a great guy!
he knows what he's talking about, but he's so scatterbrained that its hard to stay focused. he tries to relate the material to real life, and ends up confusing you more. the material isn't plain and simple like a definition, you have to know how to apply it. hard exams. easy weekly map quizzes. you have to study like, a month in advance.
Very intelligent man. Extremely easy weekly map quizzes for 20% of grade. 3 exams which are difficult, especially if you do not take notes in class or read the book. He's this really crazy dude with like a pony tail and likes to connect to global warming alot too.
he is pretty awesome... map quizzes are super easy, tests are a little hard.. just study and come to the review sessions, if you pay attention you will be ok. He's a very open-minded guy and easy to talk to.
Real specialist of Russia with real field experience. Got invited by US Embassy in Central Asia and provided policy advice. He's energetic and willing to help you. He's intelligent, knows subject deeply. Definitely one of the great professors Towson hired recently. I strongly recommend him if you are interested in the subject that he teaches.
He's a really nice guy. Weekly map quizzes are simple (20% of grade). Small group assignments are easy if you have a good group. TESTS ARE HARD. The study sessions help but you really need to keep up with the material if you want to get higher than a C. I don't recommend him if you're just looking for an easy Gen Ed.
Amazing professor and easily the most relaxed of any professor, he's laid back, cares about his students, and has an enjoyable class...he's very knowledgeable about energy resources, the class is open discussion every week with papers we're supposed to read and write papers on them bi-weekly
Everyone should take this class as an elective. Learn a lot and not so hard. very good professor as well.
A great teacher! This guy is very quarky and funny. Gives a whole lot of extra credit. Good class to take for a Gen Ed or elective.
I love this guy. His lectures are very clear, the weekly quizes are very easy, and he really cares about his students. On top of that he is funny and understands that the majority of the class is only taking his class as a gen ed. He tries keeping you engaged as much as he can. His exams can be a little tricky, but he offers a TON of extra credit.
Amazing professor! Before his class I had never gotten higher than a C in Geography; middle school was the last time I had taken a Geo class! I went to his office hours each week to discuss the readings, participated a ridiculous amount in class and I got an A! Also, we used the txt for about three weeks, after that it was all online print outs.
He is one of the best teachers i've ever had. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. Even if you don't understand it, he welcomes after class help. He is one teacher that wants you to do well in his class. Make sure to get him!
LOVE tasch. i only took this class as a gened but he made it really easy and enjoyable. he?s so funny and laid back and we had a lot of laughs in my class. he always welcomes any questions or help after class. he?s great! take him!!
Understands most students are taking this class as a Gen Ed. Very helpful and gives lots of extra credit. Definitely wants you to do well in the class.
Very helpful, but has a my way or the highway approach. Weekly online assignments are annoying. They take 45 minutes to an hour. I wanted to get them out of the way, but he posts them as we go, so I had to log on every week to do them. I stopped going to class and aced all my exams. Hes a nice guy but for such a BS class he should chill with the hw
He's an odd guy, and class is extremely boring. Other than that, he is very nice, and extremely helpful. There is endless extra credit opportunities.
Really solid professor. He makes a boring subject come to life. He gives out so much extra credit. He has weekly online assignments which should not be hard if you attend lecture and 3 exams that are multiple choice. Anybody should be able to pull an A or B. Come to class and take notes and learn and boost your gpa in the process.
This guy is amazingly awful. If you care about geography or learning at all, don't take this class...if you want to learn nothing, google study guides and get a somewhat passing grade while feeling stupider for having sat through his ridiculous lectures, that is your man.
If you need a science GenEd class, and want a course where the professor actually cares and enjoys what’s he doing, take Tasch. You won’t be bored. This guy gets it, and he is funny. The material is dry, the textbook makes a good pillow. But his lectures, and questions, make this material actually interesting. And he is available, really helpful
This professor is awesome. He is passionate about the subject and it shows. His enthusiasm and humor in the lectures make you want to go to class. And he gives tons of extra credit. Great beginner class for meteorology.
He's a nice guy, and does offer extra credit but they are mostly opportunities you won't take. Online homework is irritating, he is not too clear in class. I found the class terribly boring. Although I took great notes, I still did not do well. Would not recommend at all!
This teacher tries his best to make the class interesting and is sometimes pretty funny. This class can either be extremely hard or extremely easy. All you need to do is go to as many office hours as you can. This literally will make your test grade go up so much, he is very understanding. Seriously just go to office hours.
Loved the class, BECAUSE of Tasch. Prof is dynamic, enjoys teaching, and will always meet to help and explain. He doesn't give definitions and doesn't "tell" you the answers. He expects us to work/think. But he is always ready to assist, not to talk down or make us feel dumb, but to encourage. Really, he is fair, fun, & good humored. Enjoyed!
Professor Tasch uses questions, our own participation, and enormous essay feedback to ensure not just that we are thinking about geography, but learning about geography's complexities and nuances. Yeah, the material and the ideas are hard. But this is a senior seminar! Tasch knowledgeable; funny; and cares about what he's doing. EnjoyedWorked!
He's a great guy, super funny, always there for support. Most taking this class for a core, like myself, don't go to office hours or lectures and have trouble on tests. If you go to lecture and fill out the entire study guide you will be fine, other wise you MIGHT pass. A tad too difficult for just a gen ed.
He's very passionate about geography, and he wants you to be too. I went to every class, although he didn't take attendance. It's for your own benefit. The tests are difficult, but there were only 3. Easy online homework, he gives lots of extra credit opportunities & genuinely wants everyone to do well. & will LOVE you if you go to office hours.
DON"T TAKE!!!! His lectures and homework don't help with the tests and his study guides are ridiculously long and not posed like the tests. He thinks he's funny but he puts people on the spot and purposely picks on you if he thinks you won't know. Way too in depth and analytical for a 101 core that should be like middle school science.
If you want a prof who cares, & is enthusiastic about his subject, then Professor Tasch is for you. He's not easy. He is fair, and he makes you laugh. He wants you to come to office hours, he gives you his time and really helps you learn. I'm a business major, &I did well in his class. I enjoyed it, becuase Tasch makes boring interesting. Take Him!
He's definitely passionate about geography. Super kind/light hearted guy. Is there for his students and gives extra credit if you show up to his office hours. Lectures can get pretty boring & feel a little long. Online homeworks, 3 exams. The 3rd exam is your final and isn't cumulative. As long as you study and go to office hours, you'll pass.
I'm not a science major, but this class made me enjoy science. Dr. Tasch cares about geography, definitely cares about the students. He is my only professor who gave me a reason to keep coming to the office hours. I learned a lot, and got a good grade. He is relaxed, funny. I liked his lectures, asks a lot of questions, keeps the class active.
Tasch is very passionate about the subject and makes lectures very interesting. He wants everyone to succeed. Offers a lot of extra credit. Take him.
This class was interesting, the prof is very caring, if you show up to his office hours, do online homework and engage in doing geography you will get good grade.
Prof. Tasch was awesome - he provides lots of extra credit opportunities and alternates between lectures and "doing geography" assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory but it helps understand the material. Going to his office hours REALLY HELPS. I got a 102% average this semester. He's really passionate and honestly wants everyone to do well.
He's awesome. I'm so glad I took him. You can tell he's passionate about the subject. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! They really helped me get the hang of all the material. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Lectures, homework, and "doing geography" assignments. Attendance wasn't mandatory but missing class will result in missing out on covered material.
Dr. Tasch is an awesome professor. Its a large lecture, but he encourages us to come to office hours for small-group discussions that are fun. I learned a lot about the environment, but coming to the small groups I think made me really understand. He's a good lecturer, passionate and has a good sense of humor. Take him, I'm glad I did.
I loved the class and the prof. The class fulfills a science requirement, and I am glad I took this class. He doesn't take attendance, but it's worth going to class. Go to office hours, do the Doing Geography, complete the online assignments, and you'll do well in his class. Turns out, I enjoyed the topics.
A lot of people didn't like his teaching style, but he honestly is one of the best professors I've ever had. He connects geography to current events and makes it interesting. A lot of the info is from the textbook and he lectures on key concepts that are on the tests. Great guy and super smart
He doesn't teach what we need to know for his exams in class. YOU HAVE TO GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. I personally think that a professor shouldn't force us to go to his office because he doesn't teach us what we need to know. Don't waste your time, Geography is an easy subject but he makes it way more complicated than it needs to be.
I'm disappointed. I learned a lot and I really enjoyed Dr. Tasch's unique teaching style. Unfortunately, he saves the bulk of the work for the class for the last three weeks of the semester. Also a much bigger focus on international relations and not much about geography. I recommend Dr. Tasch but not this class.
Prof Tasch is a good person, very knowledgeable., and understanding. But he teaches geography like it is ecology, or biology. He gives extra credit, and it would be a packet of things worth only ONE point. Grades hard, doesn't put in grades on time. Book was 65, not worth it He also talks about Alaska all the time!. Good guy but difficult class.
Awesome professor. I didnt really know anything about geography before the class. Now I can actually explain things like wind and weather. I only took the class because I needed to complete a core, but I am glad I took this class. If you need a science core, take physical geography, but make sure it is with Professor Tasch.
Gives a lot of extra credit if you go to office hours, and you learn alot when you are in office hours but his tests are impossible and have nothing to do with class. He stands up and rambles on about nonsense and has no slides and gives out busy work and then gives hard AF tests about things you've never learned
Professor Tasch knows geography and makes it interesting. He gives a lot of extra credit, like for going to office hours and online Google earth assignments. I went to some office hours, just for clarification. I got most of what I needed from class notes and his Doing Geography. Tests are hard--they're tests. Excellent science class, with Tasch.
honestly the worst professor, he clearly knows a lot about geography but is a terrible teacher. he maybe lectures once every other week and then just hands out busy work which is only worth one point. his lectures are boring and unrelated to the test. the tests are extremely hard considering he does not teach during class time.
Tasch is a funny guy & will help outside of class, but his exams are so hard & ask questions that haven't even been touched upon in class; A lot of extra credit given, but idk if my in class assignments took off points for me or gave me points, so unclear
I had Dr. Tasch in the Spring of 2016 in a Selected Topics class (Nature & Society). The class was awesome, centered around group discussion, but it did involve alot of reading. We were expected to read several articles each week and be ready to discuss in class. His classes are definitely not for the casual student. But if you like GEO its good.
I didn't think I'd like geography, but after this class I love geography. Dr. Tasch is great. He's fun, cares about geography, and really wants you to do well. Maybe my favorite prof at Towson. I learned alot, and would take Dr. Tasch again. Not that hard, but you learn a lot.
Professor Tasch is awesome! I took GEO101 with another professor, dropped the class, but then I took Tasch. He helps you learn and gives lots of extra credit. You'll do well if you go to office hours, and he will help you one to one. Never had a prof who cared so much. He lectures half the time, other half we do geography. Take Tasch, great prof!
Probably one of the best professors out there. He's a funny guy and he really knows his stuff. The test are not as difficult as people say. My advice would be to go to office hours because you get extra credit for even showing up and he goes more in depth with material than in class. There is a bunch of extra credit opportunity in this class.
I love this class, because of Professor Tasch. Best Prof I had at Towson. He's a funny guy, and definitely loves geography. Go to office hours, it really makes the class fun and interesting. Science isn't my area, but I get the material because of how Prof. Tasch explains it. If you need a science class, take it with Tasch, you won't be sorry.
Seriously one of my favorite professors at Towson. I'm sad I'll never get to take another class with him. The geog core 9 sounds dreadful but Tasch will make it worth your while. Just five papers. Grades strictly but gives PAGES of feedback unlike any other professor I've ever had. Knows how to read a room and guide a discussion. Amazing.
Dr. Tasch is my favorite professor at Towson, and 101 is actually one of the classes I liked the best. I never had a professor make so much effort to help students learn, in/out of class. He is also really funny. Go to Office Hours, you'll get more attention plus credit. I'm a senior, and sorry I can't take another class w/Dr. T. Amazing Professor!
Really cares about you and office hours offer extra credit on exams while helping you understand content. Very open to helping you in any way he can. Lots of extra credit chances which really help on improving exam scores. If you put in the necessary work you'll do fine. Not an easy A, but it's good core I recommend for someone needing a science.
You really don't have to pay too hard attention in class, JUST GO TO OFFICE HOURS A LOT! His teaching style in class is horrible but amazing at office hours.
Professor Tasch is an amazing professor. I was going through some personal struggles when I took his class and I have never had a more understanding and kind professor. He really works with you and wants you to learn more than anything else. Also just a generally really nice dude as well.
Incredibly easy class, as long as you do the homework and come to class YOU WILL PASS THIS CLASS. All the assignments in class are just extra credits for the exams and they are relatively easy since you can do them in groups and use your phone. His transitions on his powerpoints are wild too. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr. Tasch is amazing, I really enjoyed his class. I like how he breaks class into half lecture, half in-class assignments. His teaching style is excellent--it's a large lecture class, but still interesting. Go to office hours, you learn plus get exam credit. Tasch cares about students, and it shows. He's my favorite prof at Towson. I'd take again!
Make sure you take this class with JEREMY TASCH !!!!!!!!!! He gives a lot of extra credit. If you choose someone else, just make sure you don't choose the wrong professor.
weekly assignment of 40 geography concepts. at first it was like 99 until we put him in check cause no. this is just a core relax. tests are oc hard for no reason!! never felt like i learned anything either. waste of time towson, waste of a class, dont do it
Idk if it's because the class was moved online, but it's ridiculous for a 100 level core. The hw each week ranges from 100-300 questions and we didn't have actual lectures, just office hours. I ended up pass/failing the class just so I wouldn't have to worry about it too much. He writes his own test questions based off the optional extra credit.
Professor Jeremy based his whole semester around the weekly assignments and the test. Unfortunately, the weekly assignments are about 100+ questions for a 10 point assignment. This left the only other option for the class with the test. The test is all made from questions that Professor Jeremy made.
Great Professor If you need to take 2 physical sci. classes take geology with this course as well there is a lot of overlap.
This class gave me major anxiety. Grades papers way to hard, will never not have 30 things to fix on it. The readings u have to read 4 discussions & papers r really long & confusing. Don't take unless you have too. Would take Professor again just not class.
I agree with the others who said Professor Tasch is amazing. He is amazing, the best I had. He's funny and cares how you are doing in his class. I learned a lot, although I don't like science. His Doing Geography assignments are actually enjoyable, and they help you prepare for the exam. Go to office hours --- you learn, get points, and it's fun.
Dr Tasch knows geography and wants you to know geography too. He's good, he makes you a better writer. He only requires 5 essays no tests. He gets everyone to discuss and share their ideas, and he makes you think. I loved his class, although it was required. His style is unique--you learn a lot.
Awesome professor, awesome course. Mr. Tasch is excellent and if you do the work he assigns you'll do well. He doesn't take attendance but go to class. He gives fun assignments one day a week. We work on these in groups. I like his lectures, but he doesn't lecture enough. I took his class because someone told me he's a great professor. Good choice,
Attendance doesn't matter but if you want extra points in the class you should 100% go to class. All the study material is online if you're not interested in going but if you do go he basically gives the test questions out early if you do his "Doing Geography" and go to his office hour. All the assignments are online and multiple choice so its easy
Funny teacher, he has explored the world and gone places you couldn't name. He was a funny interesting guy, he tried to make the powerpoints more fun and tried to engage students but not in a scary way. He did a good job and taught a lot without you realizing how much information there was.
I waited to my senior year, but I wish I took Tasch sooner. I learned so much but in a fun way. You got to give him credit for making geography interesting. But it's because he's passionate about the subject and enjoys what he's doing. Go to office hours--you laugh and enjoy but then you realize you learned a heck of a lot. He is the best prof.
Professor Tasch gives students the freedom to discuss key articles, but he guides the discussion. His approach is unique: We learn by discovery, we learn to think, we examine our assumptions and question what we thought we knew. He gives phenomenal feedback; we begin as OK writers but leave much better. Loved the seminar: TU is lucky he's there.
every Thursday you have Thursday assignments that are really easy and can google the questions or ask the people next to you. The points you earn go towards your test so it makes it easy to keep a good grade in his class. He's a nice professor that you can tell is passionate about what he teaches.
Tasch was super passionate about this class which made it a lot more interesting. I barley went to class and passed this class super easily. There is a Sunday and Thursday assignment due each week but it's super easy. Highly recommend taking him.
He made class fun and interesting and he's clearly very passionate about what he does. Pretty easy workload AND he offers a TON of extra credit. All around great guy and professor.
There is a Sunday and Thursday assignment every week that are very easy in itself. Go to office hours every week and not only will you accumulate points, but you will gain knowledge on the material and he words them in ways that you will see them again on tests.
Prof. Tasch is overall one of the best professors I have had thus far. All of his Thursday's assignments primarily contributes as extra credit for midterms and finals, which are very helpful. He also gives additional extra credit assignments a week before an exam. His Sunday homework assignments are easy and gives adequate time to complete them.
Professor Tasch was one of the best geography professors I've ever taken, very helpful, and had days where you could drop in to ask questions about the current unit, and attending those sessions gave extra credit! The Sunday assignments weren't too bad and the exams were open-note, highly recommend taking and one of the best professors out there!
Professor T was such an amazing professor. His assignments are easy and the homework that he assigns are guaranteed A grades. He made online class very easy and manageable. As long as you take notes and pay attention his class will be a breeze.
This professor is pretty great, he makes class fun and engaging. You come to every class you will pass for sure if you put some effort into it. He also gives great opportunities to gain extra credit so if you manage to get none then it's all your fault not his.
Take him!! Professor Tasch was phenomenal. He cares about his students and sincerely wants them to succeed. Most of all, go to his office hours!
Professor Tasch is so nice! The class is super easy and he gives you so many opportunities for extra credit. Weekly assignments and three exams, that are pretty simple. As long as you put some effort in the class, you should pass with an A.
Probably the most difficult 100 level class I've taken. Exam questions are unnecessarily long and packed with content sometime with up to 8 answer choices. It was ridiculous and overwhelming for a 100 level class
As others said, Professor Tasch is awesome. I needed another class, and only took this one because I heard Tasch is good, and not so difficult. I loved the class, and so happy I took it. Professor Tasch is great—take him. You won't be sorry. And if you think he's tough that's on you, he gives everyone so many opportunities to do well
What can I say, I love this professor, best I have had at Towson. Go to Discussion Hours, you'll have fun and learn a lot, and you'll get credit for it. It's a large intro course but feels more like a class where you learn about how the environment actually works. The Doing Geography assignments are interesting, and they prepare you for the exams.
I am not a science major so I wasn't excited but I am so happy I took this class. Professor Tasch cares about students and wants everyone to do well. Plus, he is passionate about geography. If you need science credit, take Tasch. It's not so hard a class, and you do learn a lot. I'd definitely take him again. Do the work and you'll get an A.
Professor Tasch was amazing. The class is super easy and he deeply cares about his students. Go to his office hours ( he gives extra points to you if you go) The class is very well organized and you have everything you need to pass the class. Take him, trust me, you wont regret it. reading through the syllabus, you might think its a lot, it's not.
Truly the kindest professor I've had here at Towson. Always had a smile on his face and treated everyone with such kindness. Great dude. I have no interest in geo but took it as a core. He worked really hard to make the class engaging and somewhat interesting. Awesome guy, he deserves the best.
Although I took geography 101 because it satisfies a science credit, I am really happy I took it with Professor Tasch. First, it's clear he loves geography and it shows. I didn't know I'd like geography so much. But it's obvious he cares about his students--he wants them to learn and to get a good grade. Best prof and super class.
Although the class is large I always felt comfortable, like a small class. The professor creates an atmosphere where answering questions is encouraged. It's actually a fun science class. The prof gives lots of opportunities to earn points, do the work--it's not difficult--you're going to do well. The prof is awesome, I really recommend Tasch.
MY KING! such an easy class, you literally have to do nothing to fail.. tests are all online and he doesn't require you to come to class for them but encourages it. everything is basically extra credit. he's funny and silly and cares about his students. 100/10 def an easy A
