2 exams that are 40% of your grade. Make sure you participate!
It was a fun class. Getting A is possible. Attendance is 5% (2 absences are allowed without any penalty.) Participation is 10% (sometimes one-word comment gives you 3 points, just be involved.) There are 2 exams (25% each) that are based on his PowerPoints. So if you study them, exams are not so hard at all. HW is 10 MCQ a week. Very nice professor!
great guy.. really nice, extremely smart, just wants his students to do well and to bring out the best in them. wish I got more involved in class
One of the best professors in RBS. Course content a bit dry but he brings in as much interesting info as possible & tries to think outside the box. MC tests a little tough only because have to comprehend vs. memorize. 1 big group pres at end. Participation matters every class. Would take any class he teaches.
Prof. Vogelmann is such a sweet, caring guy. Easily one of the nicest professors I've had at RBS. You can tell that he really wants his students to succeed by the amount of effort he puts in. He tries his best to make the course fun, however, his exams are tough and he's unclear when it comes to his expectations and grading criteria.
I took Strategic Management through the MBA program with professor Vogelmann. EXCELLENT instructor. I enjoyed his class so much I wish it were two credits instead of three. Smart, does a great job of presenting concepts and has a great sense of humor. PARTICIPATION IS A MUST! It's weighted pretty heavily. All of the readings were HBR cases.
The exams were really hard and if youre shy, be prepared to be pushed outside your comfort zone :(
Not easy if you're a shy person but he's a very nice guy and class is very straightforward.
Very nice person. Highly recommend.
Took him for Global Mgmt & Strat and he was one of the best professors that I've had at RBS. He's really caring and tries to get you involved in the learning (which is why participation is a big part of your grade). We did a case study on Jollibee and he literally got the whole class their hot Mango Peach pies to eat during the lesson. Love him!
12-15 quizzes, boring lectures, the prof does not teach, u teach yourself from the ppts, 2 tests worth 70% of the grade, 1 group ppt (10%), attendance and quizzes are 10% each., study from quizlet.
He's a pretty nice guy that's very approachable and willing to share his industry experience. The main problem for his intro to management class is he doesn't teach the concepts and you have to refer to your TA for all class related questions. Also 2 exams are worth 70% of your grade so if you're going for the A, you better study up.
Since the entire curriculum you learn yourself online and the in person sessions are essentially just working on your group projects, the professors don't do much in this class. However, professor Vogelmann is a nice guy who I would definitely recommend taking. You do have to look at the slides every week to do well on the clicker quizzes though
I hated this class - the concepts are easy but they add a lot of fancy vocab for no reason. The grading is unnecessarily hard and there's a mini-quiz every session. You have to average a 70 in both exams to pass the class which is ridiculous. I would say about 25% of the class had to withdraw after the first exam. Tough for no reason.
Intro to Management is a really dry class. There's a long-term group project and a lot of boring management history. Info's not that difficult but it's hard to stay focused. Prof. Vogelmann was really helpful in office hours and if you put in minimal work you'll be fine.
He doesn't teach too much, but the structure of the class makes it so that there isn't much to teach. He's really nice tho. This class is pure vocab with a lil group project that's graded on participation. Ez weekly quizzes, you have to read the textbook for the homework. Tests are surprisingly thorough so you can't finesse it too easily
Class is entirely self taught through textbook readings and short recap videos of every chapter - Vogelmann did not teach me one thing all semester. Year long group project to present at the end of the semester but only to one other group. Exams were taken on blackboard with a TA proctoring. Overall it's an easy class, he just doesn't teach
He doesn't teach much. You have learned everything by yourselves, team exercises are confusing. Video lectures are just repeated of the slides.
He doesn't teach much in class, the time is used more to complete the group assignments, which are very easy. Every week, you have a study guide and worksheet due for the chapter. The lectures are pre recorded and very short and to the point. As long as you follow instructions and complete all the work, it is an easy A.
Vogelmann is a good teacher. Class follows the same syllabus and work regardless of who you take it with. Have to buy the textbook in order to access worksheets. Read textbook for exams and make good study guides to use. Fair grader. Project depends on the quality of your group members.
Not a difficult class. 60% of grade based on two exams so it is crucial for one to read the book to do well on these exams. Not much teaching done in class as most of the class time is spent with your teammates to complete the weekly team assignments. Weekly individual assignments are crucial to one's grade but are very easy. Overall not hard.
Hasn't taught in a while so it was a bit rough for him this sem, take Accounting for Entrepreneurship first because its basically a repeat of that class. Group project isn't bad, homework is all excel work, Vogelmann is nice and means well, shifts due dates a lot. read exam questions carefully or you'll be in for an unpleasant surprise on canvas.
Vogelmann is a great prof, explains the concepts well. Class is mostly self-taught from Hamilton's videos/assignments. Quizzes are easy if you read. Project is easy as long as you put some effort into the weekly case assignments. Overall, an easy class, but I would recommend taking with Vogelmann
Prof Vogelmann is a genuine guy. The lectures were mostly Hamilton's video lectures, but Vogelmann did a good job summing them up. Quizzes and exams are SUPER easy if you read the textbook. The grading of individual and team assignments is super lenient. Overall a great professor!
Super nice prof! He really cares about you, super sweet, and helps out if you need it. The exams all come from the textbook, you have to attend class and meet with your group during that class but its a easy project. Nothing to stress about
There is quite a bit of homework to do, but it's really helpful so it doesn't feel like a waste of time. Exams are open notes and curved, and there is a group project at the end. He is super nice and udnerstanding! There's also no final!!!
One of the easier courses in RBS core. The class is mostly working with your team for the entire semester on group exercises which are easy but time consuming. There is a project at the end which is just copying all the team exercises into a slide show. There are 2 straight-forward exams which are open-note. Requires <30 min per week for an easy A.
Weekly hw consists of reading the textbook and taking notes. You apply those concepts to weekly team exercises. At the end, you combine all the exercises into one big powerpoint presentation.
you start with 100 points ,hw don't worth a single point but if you don't send it, points will be deducted. basically the grade is based on 2 exams and 1 group presentation. each quiz is worth 0.99. If you fail 1 exam you might fail the class. TAKE NOTES QUESTIONS IN THE EXAMS MIGHT COME FROM ANY PART OF Book even if he did not cover that in class
I took intro to management with him and he is amazing. Havent seen a professor like him where his course is easy to understand, organized and concise. He is easy to access outside of class and cares about you and wants you to learn.
He's a really nice and genuine professor that cares about his students but the grading system is a little harsh. You do weekly assignments and quizzes that only count for 1 point each so if you do bad on one of the exams, it's difficult to bounce back. There is no curve or extra credit.
Professor Vogelmann added value outside of the textbook each week but lecture felt redundant. Pre class, we had to read textbook, watch lecture, and do 2 assignments. Class was a quiz followed by a few words from him and us copying our individual work into a group doc. Need to ace exams to get an A. He was good, but take asynchronously if you can.
All his assignments and group projects were annoying. Felt like a waste of time. You can't get ONE THING WRONG or else he takes off totally. No late submissions. No errors. He expects perfection and doesn't tolerate any mistakes. Not understanding nor sympathetic at all. Professor wants to make robots out of students.
He is not a terrible professor, very nice guy actually. Just the amount of work he assigns for this class is insane. On top of that if you don't ace practically every assignment you aren't gonna get an A and if you fail an exam really badly (below 60) you are most likely gonna fail. The grading for this class is the worst.
difficult, lots of work
Boring class, and only thing that matters is tests. and they're hard. lots of useless hw
Basically, 2 exams are what determine your grade. If you fail the first exam then you will be recommended to drop and you should drop because you will be on thin ice for the rest of the semester and practically need to get a 90 and above on every other assignment in order to just pass. Prof is ok but he doesn't care about you nor has any sympathy.
Nothing in this class matters besides your 2 exams so all the other assignments are useless to making your final grade. If you fail the first exam you probably gonna have to drop the class. Professor did not care at all about you and was not willing to help. I do not recommend, take someone else.
super funny and really nice BUT a study guide and individual assignment due every week as hw! 2 midterms that are worth 60 points each and all the homework + quizzes are 1 point, so if you mess up one exam, you're screwed
this class is based on 2 exams, the other stuff if 40% and is easy. sometimes questions from the exams weren't from the slides and had me second guessing each choice. but it was alright overall, I think its harder to get an A with this grading format as you can only miss a couple points.
Boring class, 2 tests and bad grading system
Vogelmann is a good professor but the structure of the class is poor. All that matters is the two exams. You need to completely memorize the slides and you will be fine.
He is a nice and kind person, but as a professor he is way to harsh on his grades and students. The class is literally a make or break class based on your 1st exam. Class is structured so poorly and quite unfair.
Not gonna bash the professor, he definitely seems like a good guy. However the structure of the class isn't great. Two exams will make up the majority of your grade. He is also very stubborn with grades and any accommodations. He tries, but def has a lot to learn as a professor. Average experience, but there's def a lot of room for improvement.
A lot of your success in this class is determined by your group. My group was fantastic, so I did not experience much trouble, but if you are the only one in your group contributing, I could see this class being a nightmare. Lecture was somewhat boring, but if you befriend your group members you may have a fun time. study for tests.
Professor Vogelmann is very friendly and enthusiastic. The assignments are very straightforward, and we must take notes on every chapter we read. Exams are multiple choice and straightforward -- you just have to make flashcards from your notes and then study them the day before.
Whatever teacher you get truly does not matter, the entire course is equal among all teachers. Make sure to read the textbook and study before exams. The entire course is standardized (like calc) so the professor cannot make changes and the class isn't hard. Anyone who complains about him takes it out on this man when in reality he has no control.
Professor Vogelmann is a very caring and wants all his students to succeed. There is weekly HW for this course, 3 exams that are memorization-based, and a semester-long group project. Class has mandatory attendance but the class and work are very straightforward. I recommend this course with Professor Vogelmann!
This class wasn't difficult, but the first exam is weighted heavily. If you don't do well on it, you'll struggle to get your grade back up. However, this isn't Vogelmann's fault, it's just the way the class is structured. Vogelmann doesn't teach much during his lectures, so the online lectures and textbook will be your main source of studying.
professor vogelman is very kind, the work done each week is very light just a study guide, quiz (which he gives the answers so you get full points), and a short document assignment. He clearly loves the field of management and honestly makes the class better. Doesn't call people out and exams are easy (multiple choice).
he was a great professor and this class was interesting! it is a lot of reading from the textbook and if you put in effort for the study guides, the exams will be a lot easier to study for.
He is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. His class was funny and he was trying his best not to give us too much work and any concerns about the course he is very willing to answer. Overall I really like him not just as a professor but also as a person
When I say I hate men just know that doesn't include Jeremy Vogelmann.
....Lebron
great professor. cared about his students and generated interest. exams are kinda hard only bc each one (two total) is based of like 100 pages in the textbook.not difficult, just tedious, especially if you wait for the last minute. there's a group project throughout the semester (very easy) but he picks the ppl for you. no way to cheat on exams
Great guy, class is very simply structured and not very difficult. Chapter notes and “quizzes” that have unlimited attempts are due before each class, most of your grade is based off 2 fairly easy multiple choice exams, just take good notes on the chapters and youll get a decent grade on them. Group project throughout the semester is very easy.
He is amazing! His exams are definitely hard so study ahead always. 2 exams, 1 group project, HW & participation is important. He draws from his personal work experience & makes the class fun/interactive. He even remembered my name from the first class & was always friendly! Very funny guy too, definitely take him if you can.
Professor Vogelmann provides the highlights/relevant information about management concepts beyond the textbook in lectures, which is interesting. He is willing to help students succeed and responds to emails quickly. Exams are simple, memorization, and are weighed heavily (2=60%).Group Project is clear, straightforward, and fun (based on group).
Excellent professor who made understanding Management very easy. Grading format very forgiving and easy, free passes on a couple assignments. Get in with a good group for your project and this class is a breeze and fun at the same time
Best teacher for business policy
Took for intro to management hes a great professor very chill and fun
ur intro to management grade is highly based off of your exam 1 and exam 2 multiple choice grades which are highly based on the textbook!! read the textbook a ton and take notes you will be golden :)) attendance is important and he assigns your groups but the work is fun and easy!! take him!! mr. vogelman is funny, nice, and lets us out early too.
Worth taking this professor. If you study from the textbook A should be easy
Vogelmann is an ok professor, it's a very test heavy class and you really have to read through all the textbooks or study quizlets like crazy to do well on each exam. but overall an ok prof, can't say he's amazing nor terrible, just ok
One of the best teachers at RBS. Cares about his students and making the lectures fun and engaging. He made what should be a boring subject interesting, and this comes from the huge amount of effort he makes to keep his students engaged. I wish all the professors cared this much.
The main thing with this class is that almost all of it is group work. However, the parts that you can control are definitely good, and the professor is super nice and helpful throughout. The TAs are engaged as well
the class itself was boring but prof vogelmann did what he could to make it fun and entertaining. he was a really nice guy
I think he's a good professor. Team project was honestly not that bad. His exams, however, were difficult. He lets you create "study guides" for each chapter of the textbook and grades them, but the study guides were kind of useless because a lot of stuff on the exam was not even from the textbook. Fortunately, he curves the exam grades by a lot.
Don't be fooled, you definitely need to study for the exams. Overall, a good professor and a good guy. Participation matters, and you need to go to every class.
it doesnt matter what professor you have, the class is formatted the same. however, if you could, take vogelmann. its a boring class with lots of people, but he makes it interesting and is also very knowledgable about finance as he worked at lehman. 2 exams worth 70% of your grade tho, and they are easy if you just study for a long time. caring guy
There are 2 exams which are 35% each so you have to study. It's a hybrid class so it's up to you to get an A or not. You get in random groups for your team project but it's really easy, and he gives great feedback on your submissions. TAs were awesome, gave study resources, and vogelmann made the class fun. Super chill guy. Just study for tests.
hes a good guy. He brought real life examples to the curriculum, making it super easy to understand. the class itself is pretty easy anyway, however, you can't just wing the exams and expect to get an A bc they are memorization and terms based. Study all the terms and you'll get an A in the class. To get an A, you gotta avg like an 85 on both exams
this class is a bit too serious for being an introductory, core class. even if a student does well on the notes, team + individual assignments, quizzes, and projects, two exams make or break the entire grade with no extra opportunity to boost your grade. nice teacher, though. responds to emails quickly and is kind during lectures
This is like a weed out class because the averages for exams in this intro class were bad and they are a big part of your grade. But it's a hybrid class, you have to do your part. Vogelmann was fire, very funny and tries to keep us entertained and it worked. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK (POINTLESS), as long as you study quizlets you'll be good.
EXTREMELY clear and organized professor. Everything is set up and executed like clock work. Team project is everything so yes if your team sucks it sucks but the homework is EASY. 2 exams are kind of hard in application of concepts but TAs make very clear study guides. Easy A if you put in 3 hours of study time per exam. Engaging and smart guy
Suuuuper chill guy and tells you how to pass the class pretty much. Always gives reminders about exams and homeworks ahead of time pretty much giving you no excuse to do bad in the class. TAs were great because they kinda gave the blueprint to free As on the exams with the quizlets. Interesting class, I liked how he taught
Good dude, textbook was a waste of money but it doesn't matter I learned quite a bit. Exams are heavily weighed so make sure to study those and you will definitely pass the class. He is really laid back and has some interesting lectures despite it being a literal intro to management class. Took course concepts and applied them to the real world.
the class is structured weirdly for it being an intro, core business class. you have to do really well on both exams, each worth 35% of your grade, if you really want an A. and they are not easy. it requires like a week of studying. group project is very easy, but only about 15% of your grade. DO NOT STUDY THE DAY BEFORE. Good professor tho, hybrid
flipped classroom. Great guy, group project was fun, exams are VERY DEFINITION BASED. I never even used the textbook, the TA will provide you quizlets to do well on the exams. The class is structured the same, so he has no control over how it is. So, don't hate him for that. As a professor, he was great though. Easy class if you put in effort.
He's a good guy, the only downside I can name about him is that he promises grades at a specific time and then grades them way after when he originally said it would be graded. But, obviously i'd assume he has other stuff going on in his life, which is totally fine. Overall, fun prof, hybrid class so basically self taught, but he's chill
Professor is funny and caring. The assignments and homework are pretty easy and easy 100s. The tests are difficult and you need to study a lot for them. Also, the final team project is graded pretty harshly and it's difficult to get a 100 on it.
Caring and funny prof. Group projects, weekly hw, classwork with randomly assigned team. Previous review said he harshly grades the final project which I disagree, the average was literally a 90/100. Exams are 70% of your grade, so you must study. Take Vogelmann if you wanna major in Finance, he worked at Lehman and went to MIT and Stern, smart guy
class isnt too bad if youre a good test taker, vogelmann was good and very accessible outside of class, TAs were good too
There is a group project that is easy and mostly involves copy-pasting, with many students using AI. The real challenge is the exams, which require knowing the textbook in detail for two noncumulative midterms (about 120 pages each). The topics aren't difficult, just tedious. He is a nice guy but provides little value.
He's incredibly chill and is clearly passionate about what he does. Definitely study for the tests since they hold a lot of weight.
