Tests are extremely hard, online homework takes about 2 hours per chapter. Makes the intro to marketing class way too strenuous.
Class is really easy. I never went to class, studied the book, homework, and powerpoint slides and made a high B! If you put effort into it, it's not bad! Lectures are pointless since he posts them online and doesn't include material from the book, so don't bother going to class. Great teacher though!
Class was way harder than it should have been. Online homework was ridiculously long and tests were difficult.
Terribly hard class, that takes way too much time in an intro class. The tests made no sense and did not match with his lectures. There is online work that takes about two hours per chapter. I'd say if you can get another professor do it! It's not worth it.
I absolutely loved Wolter. If you went to class, he pretty much gave the answers for the tests. Studying for his class is best in groups, and he really works with you if you're busy. He was very funny and engaging with the class. I did very well in this class because I put my time in. There is alot of online work, but nothing impossible.
Wolter is a super nice guy but not the best on conveying info. His tests are extremely application based and requires to study the study guides very closely. He recommends studying in groups to help, but he gives some extra credit on the tests. He does not post the power point slides on Canvas so it makes it that much harder of a class.
Wolter's exams are highly conceptual. Pay attention in class and take good notes. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his lectures and his perspective on marketing. He's a wannabe hipster though.
He really enjoys marketing. He doesn't put the power points online so you need to go to class to know the lectures. His only grades are the tests so you need to do good on them. He does let your final replace your lowest test grade. I made flash cards and did pretty good in his class.
Wolter was honestly my favorite teacher. He was thorough and enjoyable to listen to in lecture. His tests are tough and in depth, but only because he wants you to actually learn the concepts. I went onto an internship in the summer and actually used things I learned in this class. He's also super helpful outside of class as well. Great teacher.
By far the best teacher I have had at Auburn. Really knows his stuff and his class is actually useful.
Amazing teacher, he makes class interesting. Attendance isn't required, but he doesn't post his slides online. He takes his test questions directly from the lecture. So if you go and pay attention and take good notes, you'll be fine.
Hands down the best teacher I have had at Auburn. He knows the material and is very enthusiastic about teaching. If you go to class and put in work you will learn a lot and do well in the class.
Extremely vague exams. 7 exams a semester like are you kidding? Overcomplicates the simplest concepts. Would not take again.
Marketing is not a tough subject at all; but because of how the marketing department at Auburn wants the grade curve to be Wolter is forced to make this subject much tougher than it should be. Lots of test, very ambiguous questions (he will go as far as to putting double negatives in a question to try and mess you up). Doable but frustrating class
Don't buy the book for this class. Most of the test material comes from lectures/slides that he presents, so save your money. He admits that he does this to encourage attendance but why he needs to teach material outside of the text HE WROTE is confusing. There are bi-weekly tests, which is excessive. Still, he's better than Kincaid (slightly).
He gives 6 tests and a final. That seems excessive. Tests are far more confusing than they should be.
If you like learning do whatever you can to take Wolter's class. He loves the material and you can tell. Also If you're an A student you won't have to take the final so that's another reason to take this class. Just go to class by the way. Is it really that hard? If you go to class the material is easy. Never even opened the text book.
Jeremy is probably the best Professor I have had at Auburn University. His class is not easy, but he is very clear with the material. He really knows his stuff and cares for the students. Would 100 percent take again.
Pros: The vast majority of test info comes from lecture so take good notes. Lectures are useful and engaging. He will help if asked. He is a VERY reasonable grader. Cons: He uses some unnecessarily complex language on his test. He changes his criteria from semester to semester. Take Away: Take good notes, ask questions, attend lectures.
Wolter uses a lot of "Which of the following is NOT" questions and even has double negative questions on his tests like "Which of the following does not occur when .... does not happen". He aims to have the average be in the 70s so they are tough. He also takes parts out of his slides to force you to come to class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
Loved this class. If you skip class you will not pass because the majority of the test questions come straight from lecture. The book is not necessary. Gave a ton of extra credit and if you do well on the tests you won't have to take the final. Awesome teacher and awesome class.
Loved this class and the professor. He gives you many opportunities to succeed, and if you understand Marketing easily, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Found the class fascinating, and I did well on early tests, so I didn't have to show up for last month of class. Ask him clarification questions during tests, it really helps.
6 exams, but only covers 2 chapters. All MCQ. You can appeal the questions you got wrong if you can justify it. He drops the lowest. You don't have to take the final if you're satisfied with your grade after the 5 exams. Go to class & take good notes bc most of the ?s come from lectures. The exams get easier as the semester progresses. Loved it!
Must go to lectures to do well. Slides are posted online but don't have actual information on them just relevant pictures/words to whatever he would say in lecture. 6 tests throughout semester - test questions are difficult. Drops lowest test grade and replaces second lowest with final grade if it is better. Not the worst teacher, but not the best.
7 tests. 7 tests in 15 weeks. He is great, easy A. But 7 tests. He drops the lowest test and your second lowest can replace your final, but definitely WAY too many tests to study for that makes for a crazy stressful semester. He may be the only choice though for this class, so just be ready to study a lot
There are 6 or 7 tests throughout the semester, which is a ton, but he lets you drop your lowest test grade and the final is optional. Great guy, interesting class.
Wolter is a great professor. He gives so many points back. Just make sure you go to his exam reviews and do the appeals, that will boost your grade a lot. Also go to class because you will get a big boost of extra credit from participation at the end. He is hilarious and this class was very interesting! Definitely take him if you can!
A lot of people freak out because he gives 6 tests, but it actually makes things easier. He gives them by topic, and they're non-cumulative. Offers extra credit for tough questions, he's not a stickler. Allows an option to not take the 6th test or the final. Really charismatic and energetic. PAY ATTENTION though, don't just go off slides.
6 tests and a final, but if you're happy with your grade after test 5 you can exempt the last test and final. GO TO CLASS! almost all test questions come straight from lecture, and you actually have to pay attention and take notes while he's talking. Overall, easy if you go to class! Book is used some- the study guides cover most of the tests.
You'll learn in this class. The guy is definitely smart. The people with issues concerning his tests probably aren't comfortable being made to think . Wolter asks you to think through the material. Take the class if you enjoy learning.
He makes tests very tricky, but will work with you to get you plenty of bonus opportunities. If you do well on the tests, you will get an easy A or B.
I love his class and his lectures are funny. Learn the study guide. BUT PSA HE DOESN'T LET YOU SKIP THE LAST TEST AND THE FINAL ANYMORE. Your lowest test can replace your final or your final can replace your lowest test.
Dr. Wolter is a great professor. He wants you to understand marketing not just the concepts in the book. Attendance is bonus, he lets you count your lowest test grade in place of your finals, and lets a lot of decisions be a negotiation. Show up for class, listen, pay attention, work a little, get an A.
Dr. Wolter did a great job teaching Principles of Marketing. You have to attend class to understand thePowerPoints (he uses a lot of pictures and diagrams that don't make sense unless you're there to take notes on them). I made a B on the first exam and then A's on the last three once I learned his style. Lowest exam can replace final exam.
Failed my first test and got 85 on average for the rest of the tests, still managed to get an A. Attend the class, the bonus he gave on that is essentially what bumped me up to A, follow the study guide you'll be fine for the tests. The final is cumulative but not so difficult, avoid if you can.
One of my favorite professors at Auburn. Makes the lectures as interesting as he can. Go to class, he will give bonus points on your final grade (up to 4 points) based on your attendance.
He is wonderful! Dr. Wolter makes the content interesting and is super entertaining. His tests are challenging, but he is awesome.
Mr. Wolter is a great teacher! I failed the first test and still managed to get an A at the end. The tests are difficult, but the study guide helps a lot. He gives a lot of bonus (up to 6 points) so go to class! Also, if a lot of people complain about their test grades hell work with the class. The book is expensive, but it was very helpful.
Dr Wolter was great. Hes young so he references pop culture a lot and hes super funny. His lectures are really heavy with material so take really good notes bc some test questions will come from them. He has a cool grading scale, offers extra credit, and allows you to replace your lowest grade with another. Id definitely take him if I were you
Mr. Wolter was an exceptional teacher. He will make you think, but it is nothing overwhelming. I highly recommend.
Great talks. He walks around without notes and actually stays on topic. I really liked his class. I would certainly take him again .
He is funny, smart, and engaging. I really couldn't ask for a better combination for a teacher.
Best Marketing teacher ever. I didn't do well on his 1st test because I didn't realize that his test aren't what are from the slides, but they are from his words he speaks in lecture. Take notes on WHAT he says & go to class to go over the study guide the day before the test. He gives extra credit for attendance & survey. Also really he's funny.
Mr. Wolter is amazing! He may not be your favorite if you aren't a marketing major because it's a lot of tests but class is so entertaining and fascinating. He's funny and makes it interesting. We had like 6 tests, though, so you went to three classes and then had a test and it was like this the whole semester. Pay attention and write down examples
Rock star professor in my book.
He makes the class very interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get bonus points if you do go. The final is optional and can replace your lowest test grade. If you don't go to class, the tests are a lot more difficult because he uses a lot of in class examples on the test. Not something you can study the night before for.
He clearly loves marketing, however he makes this class wayyyy harder than it should be. This is an introductory marketing class for a variety of majors however he treats it like we are all marketing experts. Tests count a lot and are super hard, no matter how much you study and think you know the material. He does give some bonus though.
LOVED this class! Wolter is so interesting and funny. Makes a lot of pop culture references which makes the lectures very interesting. GO TO CLASS, because he tests on what he says. gives a study guide before every test and a good bit of bonus. made an A pretty easily, but others think tests are tricky. overall great class. TAKE HIM
He wants the class to succeed and gave small extra credit for all the tests. The final is optional and an A is an 88. I raised my grade a whole letter grade by taking notes on the study guide and following along instead of taking traditional notes! The study guide is the test.
Wolter is a great professor. Great personality, a good time in class. HOWEVER. Beware of trick test questions; the tests are purely lecture material and the answers are sometimes ambiguous if you haven't studied for weeks. Prepare for frustration if you're a bad test taker.
4 tests + final which is cumulative but opt. if you are happy w/ your grade. Provides lots of extra credit for class attendance GO TO CLASS. Also, KNOW study guide back and forth and go to class to learn the info - but use the book for additional info. 1st test was the worst but it gets better as you go! Best advice: go to class, study early!
He is such an amazing professor! Makes lectures entertaining and gives you plenty of bonus to make up for hard/unfair test questions. He truly cares about the success of his students and wants everyone to do well. GO TO CLASS, he does such a good job of making it interesting so you might as well!
Dr. Wolter is extremely intelligent and his expectations are high, but in a good way. He expects you to think. It's not a class for the type of student who isn't there to learn. He also gives many ways to earn extra credit. Just study and you will be fine. His classes really are great.
I really liked his class. His class is no freebie and you will have to do some work. It's the kind of class that makes you really understand a subject rather than simply getting the needed credits.
His class was the most interesting I have had during my time at Auburn. He is smart and funny so the lectures are enjoyable. He gives a lot of tests and doesn't make you come to class. That's all good from my perspective.
Great teacher will take him again. The only grades in the class were tests but the study guides cover everything.
If you are not a native speaker of English, please do not choose this class. This class only USES large text PDFS as courseware. He is also very unfriendly to your speech. Even if you attend every class, your attendance score is low simply because you didn't answer the right class questions. He'll only make you feel down.
Dr. Wolter is a great professor and is incredibly engaging. He makes class interesting and talks about marketing case studies that are beneficial for practical applications. He is genuine and willing to help any of his students.
I had Wolter for 3310, and decided to take 4350 solely because I found out he was teaching it. His lectures are interesting, easy to follow along to, and entertaining. He also really cares about his students and takes your feedback into consideration! Test questions are pretty much straight from the study guide and lectures but aren't overwhelming
Professor Wolter is a great guy but his class is difficult. His exams are based on the study guide but it's often difficult to find the answers since there is no textbook, only articles he assigns, which can be difficult to understand. Try to pay attention and get help from others because often he moves quickly and miss information.
Professor Wolter is one of the most caring and passionate professors in the marketing department. Yes, you will have to work hard, but he is kind and truly cares about his students and teaching them the material. He regularly asked for feedback about his tests and would tailor them to what we said and allow us to argue our point on MC. LOVE HIM!
He was such a greta prof. His lectures were insightful and entertaining. Its not incredibly easy but very worthwhile.
J-Bone is the goat on me ;$
I took him for MKTG 3310. His lectures often go into long examples that can get hard to follow. You'll get an A if you go to class, take notes, and study the study guide for the exams. There are about 5 exams. Final is not mandatory.
Good teacher that keeps lectures entertaining. Got to go to class though as examples he uses will find its way on to the test usually. His power points don't always contain all of the information needed so you really have to pay attention to what he is saying vs just trying to copy everything on the ppts. Will give you study guides that help
I enjoyed his lecture and class. Some people view it as difficult, but if you pay attention in class, fill out the study guide, and take notes you will get a good grade. He makes lectures enjoyable and truly wants you to succeed.
Don't listen to the other reviews, this class was SO hard. I went to every class and studied a lot and still ended up with a D.
You have to pay attention during lectures because all of the test material comes from his lectures. It's really a very easy class. He makes a study guide for every test and the test is identical to the study guide. People who think this class is hard don't study, or rely on other people to fill out study guides/quizlets and don't listen to lectures
Take this class! Favorite teacher I have had. Seems more like a friend than teacher. Tests are not that hard. He skips all the bs from the textbook and says "why would you need to know this" half the time. Only teaches the relevant topics and mainly just shows real world examples the whole class. Make sure to appeal missed test questions.
Go to lectures and take notes. Fill out the study guide with lecture notes and examples. Tests are multiple choice in person. His lectures are super engaging and he does put a lot of care into the material. Textbook is helpful when studying. Study the study guide with full notes and examples for about 5 hours and should ace tests.
He is a a really good guy. The material is easy to understand, but it is very subjective so it is hard to study for and test sometimes. He makes class very enjoyable and it was the only class I was excited to go to this semester. If I could I would take him again.
Large lecture which most of the time means class is boring but Mr. wolter always did fun stuff. You definitely have to study and going to class and taking good notes is essential but if you do that you will be fine. Definitely keeps you engaged.
Mr Wolter tries to make his lectures interesting but they're pretty hard to sit through. Attendance is taken for a grade. Tests are pretty hard but he provides a study guide which helps. If you can pay attention to his lectures you'll do very well in this class.
Average teacher. Lectures are boring and hard to sit through, but you get extra credit for attending. Tests are very detailed, but can opt out of the final exam if you do well enough on the first four exams. Wouldn't recommend taking him, but doable if you have too.
So I had Mr. Jeremy... Don't take him. I literally went to every class, took notes, did the study guide, took the test with people, and made a 64!!!!!! There is no extra credit, or homework, just tests. Good luck...
Lectures are incredibly hard to follow and says things and they show up differently on exams. We took exams online with notes and people and still no one was able to get an A. There were missed spelled words and half of the questions are worded terribly as well as some were not even completed!!!!! I do not recommend him.
To be successful in this class you have to put the work in to really study and fully understand the concepts to do well on the tests. The exams make you think outside of the box. Jeremy is a very fair processor and on exams, if everyone missed a question he will give everyone credit for it. Exams this semester was in a group setting/ open book.
Bro he literally sucks. Whoever is giving him a 5 is needs to be for real. Only exams, no other assignments, & the test are nearly impossible. It is marketing, not organic chemistry, but he tries to make it that complicated. He likes to be conceptual and philosophical- does not resonate considering the marketing world is becoming more digital.
Class is eh. Lectures are hard to understand just because he is a little all over the place. Tests are hard if you don't have the right resources and if you do bad on one test, you won't have an A in the class. Cool dude and I like him, but don't go in to the class thinking it will be a breeze without the right resources.
Jeremy clearly knows what he is talking about. But his test questions are way to application based.e is asking you to comprehend the material and figured out scenarios that are over the top tricky. All his exams are "Choose the most right answer" which can be scary. But he is a fair man that is for sure. I'd retake
Exams are open note/friend/internet but still considerably difficult & how you do entirely depends on how lucky you get with the huge question banks. He gives bonus points for attendance but the lectures are unhelpful. Not a great teacher but he's entertaining and seems like a nice guy. Good class to take if you have friends to take the exams with
Memorizing and understanding the course material is not enough. You need to be ready to answer about 50 half-baked trick questions per test. There are 3 tests and a final so good luck.
If you want to hear about a strange obsession with Star Wars or sit through an hour and fifteen minutes of useless lecture that helps absolutely zero with the test, be sure to take Jeremy Wolter's class. If not, save yourself, your time, your money, and your sanity and take someone else. Worst class I have ever taken in my college career.
One of the hardest classes I have taken here at Auburn, He only grades by 4 tests and a final exam. His tests are extremely hard even when you study with all of the resources he gives. Tests this semester were in an open note, open friend fashion and most of the people that took these tests did not receive a good grade. Take at your own risk.
Nice, funny guy. Class material was deep & lecture heavy. Like someone else said, he does try to be very philosophical & conceptual, making the concepts of the class more difficult than needed. Offers points that will only help your grade, exams are SO hard though they are open note/open friend & and are unfortunately the only grade in the class.
He does open book, open note exams, however, they are still very hard and it is really about understanding the material. If you can take good notes and are smart, you should do fine in this class. My exams usually got scaled 5-7 points as well. His lectures are somewhat interesting and fun examples. Very cool smart guy!
A lot of people say that he is a horrible teacher, however this class is just pretty difficult. I think this semester was the first time he did online tests that were open for multiple days and people, including myself, took this for granted. Just because it is an online test DOES NOT mean you can google answers for his tests. He posts lectures&SG.
There a few times in my life when I have the opportunity to meet someone who truly impacts my life. Jeremy Woolter is one of those people. He is an inspiration and a champion of education. I would recommend this class not just fr the class credit but for the life lessons I take away. With 8 kids, Mr. Woolter is slaying the game.
Jeremy Wolter is fine, but his teaching style won't work for everyone and it didn't work for me. 4 tests, all online/open note. However, the tests were tricky with a large pool of questions. I did fine on the tests, but the reason why I got a B is he added points at the end of the semester because of participation/attendance. Lectures stink.
The only grades are 4 tests that are all online and open book, open friend, open internet - and I still got a C in the class. His lectures are awful & he contradicts the textbook in class. What you do in class will not be on the test except for some random thing he said once & will expect you to remember. Do not take this class. Save your GPA.
Professor Wolter is a super cool and nice person. This is a difficult class by nature. The issue is, many people in the class don't show up or study for exams and then complain about their grades and blame it on him. The truth is, if you go to class and study for the exams (whether they're open note or not) an A is very doable. He's awesome!
trash
Marketing is a tough class, but Wolter is easily the best professor at Auburn to teach it. I have never enjoyed a class more than his, he makes his lectures so interesting and I look forward to his class every day! Attend lectures, and read the chapters in the book before the test and you'll get an A. Could not recommend him more!
This guy is awesome. The lectures are very interesting and he takes a ton of feedback. He let us bring a cheat sheet simply because someone asked him if we could. The tests are pretty hard though, and they are the only grades for the class. Class is not mandatory but he takes attendance for extra credit at the end of the semester.
His exams are very tricky and meant to trick you in my opinion. He talks really fast and seems kind of rude honestly. I studied for the last exam and rewatched all of the lecture videos and still made a 65 on the exam. You need to try to avoid him
His exams are very TRICKY and meant to trick you in my opinion. He talks really FAST and seems kind of rude honestly. I studied for the last exam and rewatched all of the lecture videos and still made a 50 on the exam. You need to try to avoid him
My favorite professor by far! His first test is difficult because you don't really know that to expect. But after you get the hang of it and put in the effort its easier. Make sure to fill out the study guides accurately and copy it onto your cheat sheet for the test. The thing that helped me the most was going back & listening to lectures online.
Professor Wolter is fair. He listens to students' feedback and allows us to bring in cheat sheets for exams if someone just asks for it. It is a test heavy course and the first one is very hard without knowing what to expect. The class gets better over time and you can get bonus points for attendance. Not a bad option for marketing.
He is one of my favorite lecture hall professors. His lectures are super interesting and his tests are very straightforward if you listen and take good notes in class. He listens to his students and strives to respond to our feedback. His class is only tests but you can get up to 4 bonus points at the end and skip the final if desired.
Wolter is a fun guy and makes it easy for you to succeed. He constantly is trying to improve the class tailored to students' needs and is open to suggestions to improve the class throughout the year.
One of my favorite classes I took at Auburn. Always engaging and interesting lectures. You get to learn about real topics. Try to attend class so you can have context for examples, questions, and ideas for the test.
You're graded by 4 tests but he gave us up to 5 extra points of participation. Anyone who claims they put in work and did not get a good grade on the test is either blowing smoke or they have no clue how to study. I rarely went to class and just popped a study bean a day or two before each exam and finished with a good A in the class.
Do not take if you want any chance of getting an A or B. He only has four exams, no other grades. He makes almost every question a trick question. The highest test average was a 67 this semester and he said if it ever gets to a 70 or above he is teaching wrong.
Content is alot, but he is very fair, and with minimal effort a b is a gimme and an a is not very hard
He is very accommodating by recording lectures, allowing for cheat sheets, and provides study guides. An A is easy, but you need to be present or watch the lectures because what he says is what is on the test, you can just rely on the textbook. I thought all of his study guides were exactly like the test, so I found the tests to be easy.
Achieving a perfect bell curve in test results seems to be a priority, almost like a game to him. This approach may disadvantage students who are not adept at test-taking, as it lacks a diverse assessment methodology. His fixation on this grading curve can be polarizing and potentially stressful for those who thrive under different evaluation style
Be prepared to WORK YOUR TAIL OFF just to receive a B. This class brought my GPA down. Exams are not straight forward at all. You have to do a ton of theory application to each question. Lectures are very irritating. Information in this class is not straight forward either.
He seems passionate about Marketing but as a result, wants you to be just as passionate about Marketing. The lectures can be engaging but he goes really fast and a lot of what he says does not seem to apply to the tests. The tests are oddly worded and asks for a much deeper understanding of the material than normal.
Professor Wolter has a wealth of knowledge and his lectures were very interesting and entertaining. He thoroughly explains marketing concepts so go to class. Tests are tricky because you have to think critically in order to answer the questions correctly, it's not a "memorize and you will be fine" type of class. He allows cheat sheets.
Your grade is based on 4 tests and an optional final to replace your lowest test grade. The test questions are meant to trick you. The best way to study is by rewatching his lectures because the test is all based on what he says not his PowerPoints. Do the study guide using the book!
A great guy who really tries and cares about his students. Makes lectures engaging and tests are based almost entirely on them. Only 4 tests and final so no other grades. Attendance not mandatory but helps your grade by a few points at the end of the semester.
Wolter is an amazing professor. His lectures are engaging and if you try to learn and listen, you'll learn more than you need to in order to preform on tests. Tests are based off of application of material. So you can't just sit in the class during lectures and look over slides the night before and expect to do well. He's also pretty funny.
I would recommend taking any other professor besides Wolter for this class. The tests were open notes and open PowerPoint, but always extremely detailed and hard. Took attendance which counted toward grade using IClicker.
Don't let the first day scare you off, the 4 tests aren't that bad. He releases study guides far in advance, you can use those to take notes during class. I got all A's only studying a couple days. Talks fast during lectures, he'll slow down if you ask. He also listens to feedback and changes tests/class based on it. Overall really cool professor.
Wolter was a good professor and a very kind man, however, his lectures were long & incredibly boring. The slides aren't studiable outside of class and the first exam almost wiped out my grade. Attendance is mandatory.
I don't know the rest of the marketing teachers but this guys tests are ridiculous. Averages are consistently in the low 70s, tests make no sense to the stuff you hear in class and quizzes are based of what he makes up cause you can go directly from class to quiz and answer what you noted he said and its wrong. Don't take
He's fun as a person, playing music before class etc. His lectures are snoozeworthy. Very little info on the slides, codes slides that don't pertain to the textbook and there is no review of material available. Slides are on campus but they are useless. Tests are extremely niche. Does offer the opportunity to only take the tests.
He is awesome. His tests are hard but his system of grading for class is really good. He does 50-50 for grading. He is interesting and keeps us engaged. TAKE HIM
Professor Walter is a very nice and funny guy and tries to make the lectures interesting. This class however is much harder than it needs to be. The tests are very subjective and are a large portion of the grade. He does give some extra credit points so as long as you pay attention in class and do the study guide you can get an A or B
Very Nice Guy! but tests are way too hard and his lectures are sometimes hard to grasp. He does offer lots of participation opportunities. but I would not take him again.
This class is WAYYYY harder than it needs to be. He can't even answer student questions in class, and says "Look in the textbook." His tests are completely subjective and based on his opinions. Lots of participation credit but doesn't weigh much in the grade book. Would NEVER take him again.
his lectures are boring, and not all the information you need is on every slide because he talks a lot in class. there are 2 ways you can do your final grade: either just the 2 exam scores or you can factor in attendance and such. I'd retake him! The exams weren't super easy, but he gave a pretty helpful cheat sheet
Not the best marketing professor in my opinion. He is lecture heavy. Write down all the examples he gives in class, or you will fail the tests. Do NOT just study the PowerPoints. There were 2 tests, and the Final was optional and only counted if it would help your grade.
He makes this class hard for absolutely no reason. Do not take this professor. His test are worded so strangely and his averages for the two exams given are hardly Ds that says something. you would be better off taking it online.
His lectures take up the full class time, but are not terribly unbearable as he tries his best to make them engaging for students. I gave him a 1 because tests were jam packed. There were 2 exams throughout our semester but each exam contained 6-8 chapters of information which made them extremely difficult to study for.
In my opinion, this class was not marketing. I am a good student, and found his lecturers hard to follow and understand. I think he is very wordy and makes his class into something that it shouldn't be.
He gives lots of quizzes that barely move your grade and only gives 2 tests the whole semester. These tests have nothing to do with the study guide that he gives out and all he does is ramble in class. Do not recommend if another professor is available.
I'm not really sure why people complain about this class so much. I finished with over a 100 and never took a single note or studied for more than a couple hours for the tests. If you go to class, pay attention during the lecture, and review the class quizzes and a quizlet before the tests, this class will not be difficult.
Wolter is a nice dude but his test are HARD, but half of the questions are from the quizzes you have in class. His lectures are pretty interesting but he rambles and always goes to the end of class.
Overall great teacher, gives you plenty opportunities to be successful in class!
Tests are hard but he allows cheat sheets if you ask. His grading is funky but benefits you the most in the end. Uses iClicker for attendance but I only went to half the classes and ended up with a 100 in attendance. If you take him, use the study guides he gives to take notes during class and write down everything he says.
This was his first semester only offering 2 tests, optional final. His lectures are very interesting and he gives study guides for all his lectures. I got an A by filling out his study guides and writing it all down on the cheat sheet, never studied a single thing. You do have to use critical thinking for his tests, but it's not that hard!
Mr. Wolter is a great guy, but his class can be difficult if you don't understand the fundamentals. His exams are mainly conceptual thinking, but gives the option to take the final or not. Uses iClicker for attendance and gives 3 free "sick days". Just write the study guides he posts on your cheat sheet
Dr. Wolter is clearly passionate about the material and loves teaching it, and it makes the lectures really enjoyable. This was his first semester doing 2 tests, and he let us use a cheat sheet. Copy the study guides down to the cheat sheet and you should be good. Pay attention in class and use the study guides during lectures, they help a ton.
I enjoyed Professor Wolter as a teacher. His tests can be challenging but the cheat sheets help. He also gave us lots of in-class quizzes, homework, and participation grade opportunities that helped with your grade. I really appreciated that! His lectures can be lengthy but genuinely interesting. I would take him again.
Wolter's is a nice guy but honestly I could not pass his exams no matter how hard I tried. I met with him and he basically told me he didn't know what to tell me and to figure it out. Luckily I did and managed to bump my C up to a B but was by far my hardest class of the semester and it's my minor.
Professor Wolter is overall a good professor. He really knows what he is talking about, which can sometimes be a lot. His notes sheet for each chapter is extremely helpful; fill it out during the lecture and use it to study would be my advice.
It's a common sense class. If you occasionally go to class you should get at least a B
This class was not difficult. You just need to put in effort and you'll be able to get a B at least, if not an A. His lectures can be a little long, but still really interesting. Take notes on the study guide, go to class and do the quizzes and you'll be fine. Most people complaining probably thought it'd just be an easy A with no effort needed
Exams cover lectures, the textbook, in-class quizzes, and PowerPoints. Passing the first two exams exempted students from the final, provided they were satisfied with their grade. Attendance is mandatory, with three free misses allowed. There's no extra credit, but optional homework is available. Requires significant effort to earn an A.
worst teacher i have ever had at auburn ever. worked my ass off for nothing and his lectures are all over the place and very hard to follow. emailed him 5 times in 2 weeks with no response from him. worst experience ever.
Wolter's class is tough but rewarding. Engage with the material, use the study guides, and Unstuck AI can be super helpful for test prep. Tests require critical thinking, not just memorization. Lectures are engaging - just don't slack off.
Nice professor, lectures were unfortunately boring to me. Grading was very clear, and tests weren't overly difficult. Would recommend him for anyone who actually enjoys marketing. He tries his best.
HORRIBLE. of course there is only one teacher option.
Go to class and fill out the study guides as he lectures and you will be fine. Rewatching lectures before tests helps as well. Homework boosts your grade a lot so as long as you make at least C's on the test you can get a B in this class. Effort is required but not terrible.
I honestly loved attending his lectures. It's a lot of material, but he makes it very clear what are on the exams through his study guides. Fill out the study guides, rewatch the lectures, do all homework, and you will be fine!
Bad Bad Bad
He is super knowledgeable and knows his stuff. His exams are kind of tough, but manageable. In the middle of the semester, he send out a survey so students can make concerns known. His lectures are long, but he tries to make them fun. Cheat Sheet is allowed.
Jeremy is a good guy, you can tell he enjoys his job, but his teaching style does not fit me. If you are someone who likes having things written out on the powerpoint you were struggle. Tough exams, but he is a good grader
Not bad, Not great. Enjoys teaching, and lectures are somewhat entertaining. Not much extra material for studying for tests. Gives you a study guide that doesn't really help at all. Might get one or two questions right on the test from it.
Honestly don't know why people think this class is so hard. Wolter tries to make things as easy as possible (allows cheat sheets on exams, gives good study guides) and if you go to class and pay attention it is easy to get an A.
He changes the course every semester based on feedback, so I wouldn't judge too hard on these ratings!!!!! He provides study guides, allows cheat sheets, and records lectures. If you put the work in, you will do well.
If you are an average student, this class will be hard. His slides are very vague just have pictures and gets off topic during class; will go on rants of useless information. Tests come from the book as well as the lectures, he does provide a study guide. You get a cheat sheet on the tests, but doesn't help. I clicker attendance but not mandatory.
One of my favorite classes I have ever taken at Auburn. I genuinely felt like I learned something that was applicable to the real world after every lecture. He's a cool guy and enjoyable to learn from. His tests can be hard, but GO TO CLASS and LISTEN! Take good notes and really emphasize on the examples he talks about. UNDERSTAND the concepts!
Probably the best professor I've had so far. He puts so much time and effort into his lectures and does his best to explain everything using statistics which is really helpful for a mathematical mind like mine. Tests can be difficult and the study guide isn't always clear, so pay attention to the examples given in class.
Extremely conceptual heavy. At least he makes the lectures somewhat interesting but it feel like an eternity. The way he does grading is weird and can be frustrating. I feel like he can grade in an more efficient way. Overall not a bad class as long as you study
Dude is awesome. Very passionate, and makes it very clear what you need to do to succeed in his course. He offers multiple grading "paths" which allows you to put as much or as little effort into the class as you want. Allows a cheat sheet on the exam. Write down the study guide on there, and watch lectures because many test questions start there.
If you go to class and use the guided notes he provides then you shouldn't have trouble passing the class with a B. The exams are some what difficult because of how questions are worded, but Dr. Wolter removes the problems most of the class misses.
Study guide doesn't help at all! Tests are impossible!
Nice guy. Tests are a little difficult but do the study guides and take advantage of the cheat sheet opportunity he gives you and you should be fine. I found the content of the class very interesting so I enjoyed going to class. Your grade consists of a lot of different things so the exams are not weighted as heavily.
While all of the grades in this class come from tests, I felt they were not unfair or particularly difficult. He has great lectures that are consistently updated to be relevant and modern examples of the topics we are discussing. He also does a great job throwing in some fun clips or examples to ensure it stays interesting.
Jeremy is honestly a super cool guy, he updates his lectures really often and is really knowledgable and caring about what he teaches. However, I felt like the tests were honestly harder than they should have been. I would understand the material well but still not do great on the exams. I just felt like the class was a little bit overcomplicated.
Prof Wolter is one of the only MKTG professors and it is extremely hard to get the others because no one wants to take him. He is extremely condescending almost like it's funny to him when students do poorly on an exam. He allows a “cheat sheet” for exams but some small slide about an irrelevant company from lecture will be on the exam.
This was truly one of the most disorganized classes I have ever taken. He makes his exams way harder than they need to be with a “cheat sheet” that doesn't even help. You can't even hear what he says because he mumbles. His grading criteria is also such a mess. If you can take someone else please do it for your sanity.
Great professor, engaging lectures, funny, interesting content. Tests have a lot of content but aren't anything too difficult.
I have never come across a professor who speaks in a way that makes it impossible to pay attention until now. He doesnt respond to emails, is extremely disorganized and rambles so much in his lectures it's nearly impossible to learn anything important. Also, the textbook he uses is riddled with typos and reads like it was written by an 8th grader.
Lectures are just full of him rambling about nothing relevant to the test, almost all test questions are opinion based.
My test average was a 88 and I did all the participation and extra credit and still ended with an 89.something. He has no review days. Doesn't give back points on exams or curve it at all. Rambles about his businesses in class rather that teaching us what will be on the test. Would not recommend. Study guide is the only helpful thing in the class.
He was so difficult to understand tbh. He tries to show examples which might be helpful if he explained them at all on his powerpoints. He does 2 options for your final grade exams only or "all the things" so attendance quizzes small homework assignment from the online textbook. Just fyi I make A's in other classes and I got barely a B so
Tests were not possible to study for. He just rambles about whatever during the lectures and then puts the most random, confusing, and useless questions on the tests. I'm an A student, but I barely made a B. It was so extremely frustrating. Definitely would not take him again!!
Just don't take this class until you can take any other professor but him. He's the reason I had to up my anxiety meds. I've had a 4.0 or higher my whole life til this professor. It's all due to his disorganized style and his rambling which does not allow you to form a study plan for his tests. It's honestly not fair. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!
I think some of the complaints may have come from people who expected the class to be an easy A without much effort. This class by no means is easy; however, his study guides are helpful as long as you attend class. You can tell he is passionate about marketing. Just study and don't be lazy like these reviews. You'll do fine. Long lectures, though.
Y'all, this class was so dang easy. If you take good notes and do the cheat sheets, you will be fine on the tests. The lowest test grade I got was a 93. He adapts his class to feedback throughout the semester. The lectures were interesting and funny. Don't let the reviews scare you. The honors contract was also fun and not hard at all.
I genuinely don't understand why so many people struggled in this class, he quite literally babies you to an A if you just show up to class and fill out the study guide after. I found it most helpful to attend class, then a couple of days before the test, rewatch the lecture videos while filling out the study guide. Never got below a 90 on a test.
To begin with, he makes his exams unnecessarily difficult for an introductory marketing course. I expected the quizzes—whether at home or in class—to be more manageable, but they're just as challenging. Additionally, his office hours are held over Zoom, and he comes across as very intimidating.
Not great. He can't seem to figure out how to use canvas, so you don't know your grade until the end of the year. Towards the end of the semester, he sent out 10+ emails a day, gets pretty annoying. Exams are tough, but you get a cheat sheet and a lot of the questions come from in class quizzes.
test questions can be a little tricky but honestly if you put in effort you should get at minimum a B. he offers extra credit and two different options for how you'll be graded, either test only, or test, participation, and assignments. you also get a cheat sheet for every test.
during the lectures long stories are told that have very little relevance so it gets confusing pretty fast. During test review he says points are given back because too many people did well overall on the questions yet the averages are bad. you do get a cheat sheet but test questions are on his opinions which are different than what the book says
At first, I wrote a horrible review, but as I took the final exam and read his code, we got this, I realized all he ever wanted was the best for us. His class is hard, and you have to study a lot, but he wants the best for every single one of his students. Study, and show up; it will pay off.
Dr. Wolter is amazing! His lectures are so entertaining, and this was by far my favorite class! The exams are easy as long as you attend class and read over your notes. He also lets your have a cheat sheet on exams! There are also lots of extra credit questions on exams. As long as you put in some work then you will succeed!
If you want an A you HAVE to listen to the recordings before the exam and understand like everything he says. Also fill out the study guides he gives in as much detail as possible and write your study guides onto the cheat sheet you will get. He goes really fast in class. Covers a ton of stuff in one class. Quick responses to emails.
Here's how to do well in this class: 1a.) Do the study guides while in lecture. If you have gaps, go back to the lecture recordings or ask Dr. Wolter. 1b.) Don't forget the textbook questions on the study guide. 2.) Put everything from the study guides onto your cheat sheets. If you run out of room, leave off common sense/easy things.
Really kind and well-meaning professor, but the class felt way too difficult for an intro-level course. The grading criteria was confusing, and the course structure seemed like a hodgepodge—like he was trying too hard to please everyone, which made it harder to follow.
This class is challenging, but the teacher is great and really knows the material. Attend class, pay attention while he's lecturing, and use the study guides!! Put in the effort if you want a decent grade. Highly recommend prepping your cheat sheet before exams!
One of my least favorite professors to be honest. His tests have a cheat sheet but they really do not help at all. The test questions are very difficult to understand and multiple answers seem to be possible.
He is one of my favorite professors so far. His lectures are incredibly engaging. He stays up to date with what's happening in the world and uses real examples to make content relatable. He's humorous, sharp, and passionate. Tests are definitely challenging, but if you show up and take notes, you'll be fine.
Dr. Wolter is an awesome professor. His class has 4 exams that are heavily based on lecture material and goes beyond memorization. You really have to comprehend the material. His lectures are always super entertaining and he constantly updates them based off needs of students. I definitely recommend him but do know that this class is pretty hard.
Very knowledgable in his area, and uses real-world experience to tie into the material. Content is very application-heavy, but if you stay focused during lectures, you will be good.
I really enjoyed this class. I'm not usually one to be super engaged in class and struggle with exams, but he made it so easy. I thought his lectures were good and he was always willing to help with questions. He allows a cheat sheet for exams and provides a study guide that I used to follow along and take notes as he talked.
Test are unnecessarily hard, but good teacher and gives study guides. You can also use a cheat sheet. He listens to his students and wants to see us do well. There is sometimes participation in class for a grade, but attendance is bonus as well as a few extra assignments. I would take his class again.
All the kids giving him low ratings just want a class that requires 0 effort. If you pay attention during class and study the study guides he provides(I'm assuming the kids writing these reviews do neither), you will do well. He genuinely cares so much about his students and is an amazing professor! I have learned so much!
He is an interesting teacher but his tests cover a ton of material, he lets you use a cheat sheet however, make sure to spend a good bit time studying and doing the cheat sheet if you want an A in his class, it won't be a super easy A unless you put some effort in
He gives the best lectures, they're very engaging. The "participation" part is just fun questions. The downside is that his tests cover alot of material and the answers choices can be confusing but he does do test reviews where you can appeal wrong answers as well as he lets you use a cheat sheet.
He is a nice guy with engaging lectures however I hoped I would get hit by the bus on the way to class every day. Your grade depends entirely on the 4 tests, which themselves are extremely ambiguous often with multiple answer choices that could be correct. You get a cheat sheet and study guide which dont really help at all. If you get him good luck
Class was extremely boring and often times common knowledge. He taught that "there is no perfect answer" but then tests on "perfect answers" his exams are extremely ambiguous and frustrating. He seems like an okay guy but something just felt weird with him. Attendance and participation is mandatory, 4 exams and a final, few extra credit. Overall Eh
This class was a complete waste of time. The teacher treated a simple credit class like rocket science, made test questions confusing on purpose, and had zero organization. Most of the time was spent guessing what the instructor wanted. Avoid this class unless you enjoy chaos, stress, and frustration.
The goat. Don't expect this class to be easy but if you put in the work to pay attention in class and make a good cheat sheet you can do really well. His lectures are super engaging and he makes class entertaining. He uses lots of real world examples to make the concepts click and it works. Take this guy, you'll enjoy it.
Your easiest class, hardest exams. His lectures aren't entertaining, he brings politics into everything, and just lectures. Exams are confusing. Only doing well in this class because of my cheat sheet. U have to put EVERYTHING on there. Including examples and stuff not in the notes but what he talked about in class.
A required credit for most, but he makes it seem like this class is the make or break of your career. Being able to appeal a test question and argue your way into earning credit back for it is ridiculous. Just base your questions off facts. This is not hard material, but the class is so lecture heavy and the tests are a mind game.
I really disliked Jeremy as a person and think he sets the class up in a terrible way. 4 exams make up your entire grade. None of the material you learn is applicable to any real marketing. It is soley if you can recall the exact wording he used in a lecture and regurgitate it in a confusing multiple choice question on the exam.
Super generous guy. Class is hard for a marketing class, but if you show up and put work in you can walk out with the grade you want. Grade is based on 4 tests, but he gives a ton of extra credit.
Don't know why people complain. He makes it easy to get an A with cheat sheets. He is passionate about what he teaches, I just think he is cocky so I didn't enjoy listening to him. Please just go to class for attendance points and put the time in to make a thorough cheat sheet, he wants everyone to do good.
He is decent. My biggest complaint (even he admits) is that there would be multiple right answers on an exam, but only is "correct." The course is challenging but if you study, you'll be fine.
Genuinely awesome prof, super reasonable and will negotiate grades. Come to class, pay attention, fill out the study guides and you're totally golden. If you actually do the work and pay attention it's a fairly easy A. Very chill, nice guy, lectures are often funny. Would happily take again!
If you're expecting an intro-level marketing class, do not take Wolter. He teaches like an upper-level course. Exams are extremely vague and barely match the study guides. Many test questions have 2 or more answers that could be correct. I'm a junior accounting major and this was my hardest class of the semester. A lot of hassle for an intro class.
Awesome guy, but unnecessarily hard class. I should not have had to put the amount of work I did into an intro to marketing course just to squeak by with a low B. Test questions are vague, his study guides are mostly useless, and he finds excuses to ignore the amount of people struggling with the concepts.
Worst Professor Ever, He is a pure A**hole, He deliberately make exam so tough and confusing for a shitty entry level class. I guess he likes to torture students, don't fall for the fake smile and laughter in class. If you meet him in his cabin his true colors will be visible. The Male TA is even worse Don't take him you will regret for sure
Wolter is a great teacher! Put in the good work and you'll do great!
After taking this class I find it shocking that people were not ending with A's in the class. Jeremy gives out 5 total bonus points on your overall grade (85 to 90) and a cheat sheet for each test. While the tests are slightly difficult, he allows students to appeal grades and gives curves. Most students didn't even have to take the final.
Walter is awesome. His class is harder than your average "principles" class but there is no reason you can't get an A if you really put in effort. If you go to class and pay attention, you will be fine. He allows cheat sheets on tests and posts all his lectures. Anyone who complains about this class simply isn't trying.
Attendance and participation is extra credit but its important to go to class because it adds 5 points to your grade in the end. His lectures are certified yapping and seem pointless because he posts them on canvass, but I promise GO. His final is cumulative but optional, I took it and brought my B to an A
Honestly, he seems like nice guy but that's about all he has going for him. He's grossly incompetent with everything from grading to basic canvas functions. I honestly don't know if his confidence comes from delusion but this guy is a joke. Take another professor.
Idk what everyone is complaining about lol. Even for a sophomore finance major, this class was very easy. Lectures get kinda boring sometimes but you dont really have to go; theyre just for bonus points. Exams let you use a two sided full piece of paper cheat sheet that you dont really even need if u just review the slideshow.
He was a nice guy and was passionate about his class, but lectures were scattered and as someone who is more math brained this was hard for me. Didn't love the teaching style and sometimes what he said contradicts the book - he will give you points back for but just felt unorganized and I couldn't ever piece everything together making exams hard
Dr. Wolter is a nice guy, and he's actually a very smart guy as well. His lectures are long, but he ties in all aspects of business into this marketing class, which was interesting. If you watch his zoom recordings before the tests, and make the cheat sheet while watching it, you can essentially have everything necessary to make a good grade
Professor Walter teaches a very interesting class. As a non-marketing major I still found it enjoyable. The test questions can be tricky but if you relisten to the lectures you will be completely fine. There is a ridiculous amount of extra credit so show up to class, do the participation, & you will not have to worry about your grade.
