too anal
terrible at explaining what exactly he wants out of the assignments he gives. DO NOT take him.
I hated english before i took his class. He is very encouraging and articulate. Excellent teacher! He sincerely want you to do well. TAKE HIM!!
Very cool teacher. Wants everyone to understand and do well. I took him twice and got a B both time's. I've never recieved a B in English before him
great teacher. made me enjoy writing for the first t
He is Darling....might inspire you to read more just for the sake of better conversation. Good teacher, down to earth but not easy.
Zitter is an amazing guy. He's helpful and sweet and is very knowledgable about what he teaches.
Great professor. Makes class fun and interesting. I enjoyed each of the reading assignments, he really picks interesting stories that are fun to read. I would reccomend him to anyone.
Let's you revise all but your last paper as long as you bring in 4 copies for peer comments. Great teacher, will help you out with your questions. Do the work and you'll get an A. I'm taking his 101 next semester.
He's offil. The essays are stuped! The class is boring and the topics are so off the wall. He's really anal and I would never take his class again.

I dont know about those last two posts but mr. Zitter's class was my favorite last semester. The readings were interesting and discusions were, too. Alot of quizzes though.
I had him for 100 and 101 he is really cool tells you everything straight out. interesting readings and essays are always making you think. a little anal but he is aware of it.get to turn in papers again after being givin a final grade, strongly recomend!
Zitter is a great teacher. He makes the class fun and interesting. Plus he is always there to help you out if you need him. Take him you will enjoy english class more!

Really helpful and educational. Humour.
I learned more about analyzing literature than in 4 years of high school. you will learn.
great class. pretty hard but i still managed an A. i had to work for it, though. lets you revise for higher grade.
Mr. Zitter is a great English teacher. I agree that his assignments are difficult, but he truely brings out the best in your writing. He is always eager to help, he's funny, and he is a joy to be around. I totally recommend him!

Zitter is awesome. ENG101 inlcude LOTS OF writing and essays but he lets you rewrite for a higher grade. He does give quizzes regularly, but they help boost your grade. Read the material,do all the quizzes, always ask for help and you'll do fine. He's fun
Mr. Zitter is the best. He's funny and he doesn't assign too much homework. The readings are interesting. He gives quizzes every class but they're easy and you can use notes. Lectures are fun and helpful and he lets you rewrite essays. He's cute too :)
Funniest guy ever, really helpful and fair grader. Lets you re-do your essays for a higher grade. I got an A and im a terrible english student...but thanks to Zitter I love English!!!
this is his first time teaching this class but he's doing great so far. we read a lot of interesting works and it has definitely gotten me more interested in american lit than before i took it. the teacher is funny and good at making good points about the works we read. you learn a lot.
Zitter is a young guy that wants it his way... and no other way! Must admit it was very frustrating at times re-writing over and over again... but of course, you would eventually get it his way and I ended up with surprisingly with an A!
He is an interesting individual, although at times he obsesses over Freudian imagery...but he's young and it's his first time teaching 20th cent lit but I loved it going in and I still love it with a new perspective on modernism and such, he's good and since he's young you feel like he is your peer
Very cool guy. He makes the class fun and more interesting. As long as you are there and pay attention and work hard you will be fine. He demands a lot of you but you will learn a lot from him if you are there and pay attention. Definately a class worth taking.
Zitter is a young and very handsome guy. He is nice and helpful. You will pass his class if you put effort on it.
Zitter is a good teacher! He gives a lot of work but it's not bad...he also lets you re-write essays for a higher grade! he's cool and very helpful! he's also hot!!
Best english teacher I have ever had. Good sense of humour and really nice. He is always happy to help students who visit him in his office. His class is fun but you will also learn a lot. Essays are difficult but he lets you rewrite for a better grade. Class discussions are helpful. Very cool guy!
If you want to write a paper with your own opinion in it, don't. His opinion is fact. If you want to analyze something your own way, don't, because no matter what, he will disagree. If you love repition (reading a passage with a group and analizing every time you go to class) he is your guy.
MR. ZITTER IS VERY HOT!!!
Mr. Zitter is one of the best English teachers I've ever had. He doesn't expect you to write papers that are his opinion or his way, he just pushes you to think outside the box. He lets you revise every essay and will go out of his way to help you succeed in his class.
He is a bit intimidating. He is so hot you forget that he is your teacher. Because he is so intelligent he is even hotter! I look forward to going to his class because I love listening to him talk. His class is so interesting and worth taking for everyone. He smells good too.
Zitter is a smart teacher who is verry intelectual. He pushes students to think outside the box and employs lots of critical thinking and anyalysis in his pappers. hes not a hard teacher. treats everyone verry equal and is a just a funny fun guy to have as a teacher. good times
I hate literature, but Zitter is a pretty chill guy so the class wasnt as bad.
Professor Zitter is a good teacher if you can get past his constant apologies :) He did cut quite a lot out of the class due to time issues, which was disappointing. The class was mostly discussion with a midterm, final and two essays. Not too much work.
You have to write a ton of essays and long ones at that but he helps you the whole way!! He is a hard grader though! Very nice and fun to be around!!!
Makes the class very fun and easy. He helps you understand the material in more than one way. Gives you several choices in stories that you can write about. There are quizzes but they're very easy and help your grade a lot.
Jeremy is a great teacher if you show any interest at all in the class he will really help you out he is young and funny he is the best teacher i had at OCC. you have to write like 4 essays but theyre not on books theyre on interesting topics that he is very lenient with.
JZ is perhaps the best professor I've had so far. Simply put, the guy is just straight up. Work is a cinch as he only assigns quizzess and the like to get you to read the work for discussion. This is key, as the man is all about diggin into a work. Suck it up and give a shot at discussing the significance or subtext of a piece, and class is yours.
Jeremy is an amazing prof.! I'd recommend with the highest regard. Be ready to type a few papers but he's helps you all the way. No need to freak out.
A fun class, despite all of the writing. Challenging without being too hard. You read some pretty cool stories, too.
He knows what he's talking about...you can tell he is well educated. But it's hard to concentrate because he is SO CUTE!!
Fun class, lots of reading. Pretty hard tests, but if you pay attention it's not so bad. Hes a pretty cool guy
He is a very well educated professor. Yeah, some girls would find him attractive, but it is a good class and you learn a lot from hit. It is simple if you just show up and read and take quizzes. It is not easy getting an A on a paper, but I would pick him for this class to take.
The tests are ridiculously easy. And he is better as a student than a lecturer. (He even looks like one, and he's hot too.) Take this class if you want a solid B. Don't expect to be "enlightened" or become a superior writer...there's more reading than anything.
really cool teacher
He's a great teacher! He grades hard on the essays, but if you at least put some effort into it, you can at least get a B in the class. I took the class over the summer, and it was not bad at all. Great guy and a great class!
Pretty good teacher. Only complaint is that sometimes he's TOO nice and let's people ramble on when clearly they haven't read the works before hand. Hard to concentrate in class because he looks a lot Keanu Reeves less manly half brother and I kept waiting for him to scream "There's a bomb on the BUS!!"
He was really nice and treated the students with respect. I'd recommend him to anyone because he is a great teacher who is able to convey his ideas and knowledge to the class with clarity. AND he even makes a 4 hour night class somewhat fun.
hes funny and a nice guy but a hard teacher. he grades really hard and expects a lot out of you. the essay prompts are pretty boring.
Without a doubt, my favorite teacher on campus. He's not necessarily easy, but he's a great teacher and offers a lot of feedback on your papers and the chance to rewrite them if you didn't do too well.
He thinks a lot of himself, and tells us that his class is hard, but it's not really. Being one of his "favorites" is the key to succeeding well. I'm sure he's even deluded himself about that, though. Disorganized class time and he has no sense of when a student is adding something to class or just blabbing. Terrible experience so far.
He's cute...so i guess he gets bonus points for that. But i do appreciate the fact that he can pick out the good writers--although he can't seem to pick out the sparknote ones...poor guy. In class, I wanted to point out a girl who was regurgitating sparknote forum discussions...ugh!
If you don't already have a well developed writing style, this class might be a bit of a struggle. However, if you want interesting discussions and new insights into some standard stories, Jeremy is the way to go. Be sure to ask for help if you need it. Pretty easy on the eyes, too.
Mr. Zitter is a FANTASTIC instructor! He is clear and concise both in his instruction as well as his feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed the material and short stories. I've gained great insight through his thought provoking explications and my ability to write a well developed essay improved greatly. He's supportive yet honest allowing one to grow. A+
Jeremy is a good teacher. The class can be difficult sometimes due to the essay topics, however if a student works through that, he/she gains better writing skills.
Essay topics are pretty interesting. He gives quizzes almost every session, pretty easy if you read the material and you can use notes on the quizzes. Lets you revise essays if you do the rough draft. Lots of group exercises. 4 essays a semester.
Modern American Lit, I think is the most boring. He picked pretty good readings, but wasn't very open to abstract interpretations, just shrugged them off mostly. Tries to pin the most correct interpretation to alot of the readings, even though there really is none since its PM and Modern style. Nice guy, will always try to bump u up the other grade
really a cool dude, his essays weren't the easiest to get As on but it was worth it cause u learn alot.. i ended up getting an A because he lets u revise ur essays... take the class
Jeremy had the luxury of teaching a class rich in excellent works. He has a very single minded approach to teaching the class. He allows interpretation to a degree, but will impose his interpretations if he disagrees with you. I found him condescending and unbearable at times due to this. Don't let him know if you're an english major. Trust me.
about half of his readings are spectacular and the other, so-so. still, discussions are the focus and if you're articulate with your ideas, even if they're in left field, he'll listen. he's at his best when he really makes the effort. i still refer to the stein discussion to this day. least favorite aspects: group work and the ipod was distracting.
An excellent professor who works hard to keep students engaged. I learned a a lot from this class.
One of the bes tenglish teachers i have ever had. throughout the semester we had a total of 3 out of class essays with 2 in class essays. the essay subjects are broad enough for students to write a hefty amount of pages. the final paper was a research paper which was no harder than the rest of the essays. he does count attendance
Loved this class... Not only was the class interesting it was also entertaining because of his personality!!!! Not to say he is also hot!! If I was anyone who was looking for a good English class I would definitely Recommend Mr. Zitter!!!!
Mr. Zitter is a fun teacher. He's really laid back about everything, and the classes go by really quick. You write about 4 essays, and if you turn them in on time you can revise them for a better grade! He's really friendly and a great guy. All the stories you read in the class that you have to analyze are short fiction! They're great stories
I liked him so much for eng.101 that I took his 151 class. He knows so much but still relates well to his students & is one of the nicest teachers ever. He wants you to learn & is always happy to help. He has a good sense of humour, too & makes class fun. And whoever wrote a couple comments ago is right, definitely gets bonus points for being so cute
jeremy is one of the best professors i've ever had. he's clear on what he expects, he grades fairly, and he gives great criticism on essays. i tried taking english 100 twice before him and had to drop, but he made it so interesting and sometimes fun. this class encouraged me to write again. p.s. whoever said he looks like keanu reeves is a dork. :P
Its a rather easy class as long as you read all the assigned material and turn in your essays and rough drafts on time. He lets you redo all your essays for a better grade. Always there to help. RECOMENDED
He is a great teacher, who helps his students. I would easily take his other classes.I have seen a lot of posts on here that he is cute, I think the better statement would be is how much he loves to teach I found his class very interesting and gives you new insights. He takes writing to the next level and to think beyond the obvious. Good Job Jerem
you cannot say it was an easy class but you can definitely say that it was clear. zitter's pretty chill. re-doable essays if you were there for the rough draft / peer response. the class overall isn't all too overwhelming because he's firm but laid back. he's the type of teacher that actually gets to ya.
If you enjoy dull, lifeless discussions and an overall rigid and stifling approach to teaching, then Zitter is your man. Teenage girls seem to love him anyway . . . Personally, I can't muster up any respect for the man.
Coming straight from high school, I took his English 100 class, and he shaped my writing style and taught me what a college paper should look like. Extremely recommended. Easy class.
Boring, not my style at all ...I dropped and took 102 with Kennedy...which was way more interesting. Does not work with athletes...wouldn't let me leave 5 minutes early to get to the Boathouse....he didn't even know where it was.
square all the way around. reminded me more of mr. rogers than keanu reeves. as for the class itself, if you want to be challenged at all, take someone else.
great class, one of my faves actually. good stories, pretty interesting discussions. he is also funny. not easy grader. i dont see mr rogers or keanu reeves though.
Zitter is a really great teacher. If you don't like writing, this class isn't for you. He is really fair/thorough at grading. He is really witty and sarcastic. Also, he likes Cat Power and David Cross. So if you're into cool stuff, you'll like him.
I really got a lot out of this class! He does a great job preparing you for each assignment, and you do some cool reading. Reccomended highly.
Over all he can really teach you how to write a college level paper, if you are willing to listen to his EASY instructions and tips. He makes you work for your grade, but he makes it very SIMPLE for you to get the grade you want, as you can make up almost ever essay in the class if you attend regularly. He is passionate about what he teaches !
best english teacher. not an easy class but you learn a lot. cute teacher too
Best class, I ever took on campus. You will learn A lot from this teacher.
great teacher! very passionate and very helpful. Looks like Keanu Reeves!!
Easy class as long as you do the assignments. Reading quizzes are very basic. Mr Zitter is a weird, goofy guy.
jeremy is awesome!!! Best teacher on campus, you will learn a lot
He's very helpful and always wants you to do your best. Grades a little hard but you get to revise each assignment, reading quizzes are easy points too. Assigns interesting stories to read too AND he's cute too. Take him!
He has a very weird, goofy, and peculiar personality, but that just adds to the fun. He's a very clear and easy teacher as long as you do your work. He's a very fair grader; he doesn't expect too much, but not too little either. I definitely recommend him.
He's nice and willing to teach, and the stuffs look pretty simple. BUT HIS NOT AN EASY-GOING TEACHER. HE GRADES EVERYTHING STRICTLY HARD. If you like to write an essay, then take him. But I didn't like this class.
Definitely take Zitters class. This was my second try at Englich 101 w him and the first time I fell behind in attendance which really hurts you. Just turn in the papers on time and do revisions NO MATTER WHAT U gET. He gives quizzes everyday and you need to be there for those pts. Trust me I know.. I couldve gotten a much higher grade but ende
I Hate english classes. I am a horiible writer, but I really understood his class and he made you enjoy writting and really helped you understand what you were writting about. Liked going over the short stories after you read them. Nice guy. Kinda of cool dork. Like me.
Jeremy is a really nice and funny teacher. I took the night class and he made it really interesting. He's a hard grader but his comments are helpful. I learned A LOT from him. Listen to what he says in class. I was never bored listening to him speak and he's really cute!
completely amusing. great teacher. he keeps things interesting but not off topic too much. not too much homework
MR. Zitter is an awesome teacher. He isnt an easy A if your not willing to pay attention to what he says. He grades a bit hard. But he allows you to rewrite your essay for a completely new grade as long as you turn something in (even if its just a paragraph) when its due.
Great teacher. He really pushes you to be a better writer and uses a lot of different teaching tenchniques to accomplish that goal. Very straight forward grading policy, but he's more flexible than he lets on. He makes a class you have to take feel more like a class you want to take.
I'm not sure if I would recommend Mr. Zitter but he did push me to think and write out of the box. His class is NOT easy and he grades tough! You will have to work hard! He does let you re-write your essays, so that's a plus! He has a way of making you feel stupid if you don't answer a question correctly. Not a sign of a good teacher!!!
He's arrogant... That's it.
Good teacher. Class was amusing, grading is a little difficult. I love writing essays so it wasn't a problem for me, but he does let you revise after grading. Would have gotten an A had I showed up to class to take reading quizzes.
He's very clear about what he expects (even provides examples)and he'll answer basically any question you throw his way with clarity. He is overly generous and not boring at all (thank god).I don't think he's a hard grader:it's a writing class and if you can't write he'll grade accordingly. He doesn't waste class time and that's GREAT
One of the best teachers on campus. You can't go wrong in taking Prof. Zitter. You will learn a lot
He teaches a very interesting class, and makes his expectations really clear. If you are willing to work hard and not be lame about your writing, this class is definitely passable. Reading is mandatory though, he gives quizzes every class!
He's interesting, reasonable, and comes to class prepared. I would recommend him. However, Professor Zitter does not deserve 48 chili peppers. That's creepy.
Week 1-12, I loathed coming to class cause he was intimidating.Week 13-16, I realized he may be one of the best professors at OCC; it will be smart to take his class.I became resistant to his bluntness, but no one else did and hated him.More than 2/3 dropped. And please, he?s got nothing on Keanu but ill give him one cause he almost has 50.So close!
Enjoyable class. Zitter is a tough grader but he's fair overall (and allows essay revisions). He can be intimidating at times but I tried to look past that and benefited a lot from class. Although I think it's somewhat insulting to rate profs on their "hotness", Zitter is quite attractive. What's more insulting is to compare him to Keanu Reeves..ew.
If you wanna learn something, and want to challenge yourself, take the class. You write 4 essays, if you have good attendance, you can revise them. Reading is 10-25 pages for homework, I always did it before class and passed the quizzes. Quiz everyday, but really easy. Overall, fun class, not an easy A, you just have to work for it, but its possible
Professor Zitter is a great teacher. At times, class can be very boring, however he does teach you a whole lot. You have a quiz every day (pretty easy, just gotta do the reading) u have 4 out of class essays, 1 final in class essay one right after the other. he's a pretty tough, hard hard grader! But lets you revise your essay. U def work for ur A.
I am a pretty decent writer and I struggled for B's in this class. He is very clear with what he expects in each essay, but his expectations are difficult to reach unless you are already a strong writer. Just don't expect it to be a highschool level English class and you'll be fine. He's pretty cute for a teacher too : P
Jeremy is super charming and entertaining (when he performs in front of the class), in spite of his severe mood swings (when he talks directly to you), but you adore him anyway, because he does remind you your cat: cute and cuddly, but dark and cold at the same time...
He should consider changing his last name to Dreamboat... Great professor though sort of intimidating at times. Assigns several interesting short stories per week and gives a quiz almost every class. 4 papers.
Do Not take his CLASS. Harsh grader and doesn't help out at all. Everyone says he was easy and cool but he is the opposite of what you expect.
super mega hhot!!!!!!!!! hes the super dreamy version of jim from The Office :)))
This is the worst teacher I have ever had! Do not take his class! His nasty attitude is what makes him so ugly! He gives an attitude of "I'm better and smarter than everybody, and you are beneath me." SERIOUSLY pick another teacher!
i waited two years to take english because i dreaded it but Jeremy's class was great. i learned so much more than any other english class i've had. one of the best classes i have had at OCC! i wish i had taken it sooner.
Analyzing a text was once a daunting deed, but Jeremy has rekindled my love for literature. His enthusiasm for the readings translates well in his lectures. If you make a conscious effort and participate in class (or at least actively listen), he will be more than helpful in return.
You need to put in some effort and actually do the reading. Other than that though, I highly recommend Zitter, outstanding professor. He makes you think outside of the box!
Doesn't listen to any of the guys in class. Has a class full of girls. Uses the word "Awkward" way too much!!
VERY VERY HARD GRADER, used to love English but he made me hate it. Don't let his amazing good looks fool you. He acts like he is better then anyone and everyone. Reading hw every night with quiz. you HAVE to buy textbook and a novel. 4 papers. Favors the suck-ups. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS
You just write essays; takes the entire class time to explain the prompt because he assume you know nothing (or maybe he cant teach lessons). Rips other when he does "examples." And he barely teaches - only 3 lessons on commas, semicolons, and dashes. No style or writing methods at all. Eng Stickler. In all: straight forward class, horrible teacher
I'm not sure what those last few commenters were talking about but that wasn't my experience with Zitter's class at all. We didn't do a lot of stupid grammar stuff in class but I feel like I learned so much about literature and about analyzing it. I really would recommend this class.
I really liked his class. if you understand what he's asking of you and you do the work it's a cinch. he doesn't really give out any pointless assignments. Sometimes when he explains something he gets wordy, but what do you expect from an english teacher? anyways, he made me remember why reading is fun
this class is not easy, but if u work hard getting a good grade wont be out of reach. No grade is set in stone right away, as u get to revise your essays after he grades them.the quizzes are easy if you read, and the reading is enjoyable+short. He is readily willing to help anyone if you ask.he is a great professor dont listen to the comments below
yes he is a hard grader, but if you go to his office hours attend class and pay attention, the essays are pretty easy. You can revise your 1st two essays and do a pre-revision for essay 4. hes an extremely helpful professor and highly intelligent.Funny, cute, and informative! ps. VVV obviously all u do is write essays, its english !!!!
Honestly, this class is challenging, but you are in college... this isn't high school. I have learned so much from taking this class with Jeremy that if I could I would take him again if I wasn't done with english. This guy really know what he is talking about and he is always there to help :)
Great class! You will learn a lot. He has you read really interesting stories, not boring at all! I got B's on all of my essays and I have never thought of myself as a good writer so it 's not too difficult to do well. He lets you revise most of your essays if you want. He is really nice and will answer any questions you have. he's adorable too
Zitter is the man. Probably my favorite english teacher i've ever taken. You learn alot in his class, but dont assume its going to be an easy ride. Don't take this class if your not looking to learn. Word of warning: your probably going to bomb the first essay but dont trip cuz everyone normally does. Go into office hours and he'll walk you to an A
I personally do not like English but I wouldn't say he was hard at grading if you are dedicated and not lazy it will not be hard..he is extremely helpful gives you sample essays to go by, lets you revise two paper gives you all the tools you need to pass the class, very helpful teacher who made me fall in love with English and literature!
He is a bit of a tough grader, but he inspires you to work to your full potential. I really enjoyed this class!
Have been out of school for quite some time 27 years to be exact. This class inspired me to write. Sure Jeremy is a tough grader, but if you pay attention in class and follow his examples you should do ok in this class. Slack off and you are sure to fail! He's pretty easy on the eyes as well!:)
Amazing teacher, he makes you want to be a better writer. He allows you to pick topics that you can relate to and will actually have interest in. I highly recommend him to students that normally hate English classes. Plus he's really corky and cute to watch and he reads his papers so you kind of get to know him as a person.
He's an amazing teacher and very helpful. He is a hard grader but you could rewrite your papers. He's always willing to work with you if you have any hardships in your life and he's very understanding. I highly suggest you take his class, he'll help you become a great writer.
Thats very humorous that Prof. Zitter has a "Flaming Chile" on his ratings. I agree he is very handsome but his high ratings should be for his dedication and passion to teaching English. Ive taken him for 100 and 101 and I'm just sad that I won't be able to take anymore of his classes. He's an absolutely incredible teacher!
GREAT teacher. Tough grader, but not impossible to get an A. He let's everyone revise the first essay, then you have to pick between the second and third. Gives very good criticism to help you with your revisions. In-class essays are a little more difficult. He's kind of awkward but in a very endearing way (and I think he knows it) TAKE THIS CLASS!
The ONLY problem with Jeremy as a teacher is that he only teaches the two English courses I've already taken (both with him). Excellent classes, excellent professor. Would recommend him over any other English professor.
Very good teacher,he gives interesting topics to write about.Take his class he's funny at times.
WOW HE IS REALLY OUT THERE LOL..IN A GOOD WAY LOL BUT OVERALL HIS TEACHING IS GOOD... HE LETS YOU OUT EARLY SOMETIMES... ANAL ABOUT THE ESSAYS BUT YOU CAN REWRITE TWO OF THEM!! TAKE THIS TEACHER!! :D :D :D AND HES NOT BAD TO LOOK AT TEEHHEEE
Moody, but makes up for it with his looks. (Just kidding, but he IS moody!) Really wants his students to succeed (on his good days,) so take his class and hope he has his rose-colored glasses on long enough to get you that A! ^_^
Great teacher. He is late a lot to class and lets students out early often though. He has been a great encouragement.
He is by far, one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very smart, analytical and has a great sense of humor. This professor is very helpful as well, you get to revise 2 out of three essays. Great interaction between students, lots of helpful proof reading and peer comments. I would highly recommend taking this class!!
In person he is arrogant and cynical but he's all sunshine & unicorns when writes comments on your essay. He doesn't believe in the phrase "there are no stupid questions," which makes life harder for stupid-question askers such as myself. Anyway, he WILL help you become a better writer which is good if you, you know, want to become a better writer.
Mr. Zitter has to be one of the most intelligent people I've come across. He is such a good teacher. His essay's are not easy, but definitely manageable. He really pushes you to do better than what you think you can do. He has seriously inspired me and reignited my love for english. I'd recommend him for any english class.
He gives major ATTITUDE if you try and ask for help..? Take someone else and he can be your Plan B/C. I wish I had the same teacher these people VV had cus he was not like this with us.
Zitter is very different because he takes us step by step throughout the process and tries his best to make us understand. I don't really understand why people see him as arrogant.. really? Harsh crowd. And whats with all the chili peppers? Attractive? Er... I think its his personality that makes him likable & his silly acts in front of the class.
Very helpful teacher..Not hard to pass the class
Zitter is a tough grader, but he writes a lot of marginal comments on everyones essays and allows 2 revisions. He religiously gives quizzes at the start of class. There is a lot of reading for this class. Also, you are put into groups each day to discuss what you read. This class definitely improved my essay composition and analytical skills.
Professor Zitter can be the most amazing teacher you have ever had if he likes you and your writing. He is kind of a pessimistic creative teacher who has his own personal style. Definitely helpful and a little bit tough but it's necessary. You need to lighten up a bit to survive. He's a little depressing but hey if you like that...
He expects a lot and will give a lot. He comes across condescending, hence the... your questions/comments are stupid or not quite what he was fishing for. But this is a small part of the whole. As a whole, he is a very intelligent and excellent teacher. If you show up and do the assignments, you will gain a lot as a writer.
Professor Zitter is the best kind of english teacher there is: enthusiastic and encouraging. All the literature he assigns is interesting, especially on an analytical level. An added bonus is that the majority of the reading is very short. Altogether, a great class.
By far one of the best teachers I have had since jr. high. We never left the class confused. Texts were challenging but interesting. Prompts were SOOO much fun and he improved my writing more in one semester than it improved all of high school. AWESOME TEACHER TOTAL CUTIE <33
He's like a cross between a Joshua Radin and Jim from the Office, seriously the resemblance is striking and hiliarious. Anyways, he's really clear about what he wants, in fact kind of BABIES us step by step for a eng101 class... hes NOT "arrogant" or condescending. this is probably said from ppl who feel stupid around him. i dont see it AT ALL.
One Jeremy Zitter is not enough. I wish I could copy-paste him for all my courses. He really wants you to succeed, and helps you to get the best results possible. He is a true teacher!
It's really funny when he says, "Is there any questions?" and NO ONE says one word because he answered every single question you could think to ask. Great teacher, and he offers so much extra credit participation points its ridiculous. His essays are all around the same, he makes it so you can relate to them. Do the work, show up to class, but if y
Very Tough Grader but more importantly, a VERY GOOD TEACHER. I can honestly say he is the best english teacher I have ever had and he will make you a better writer. Thank you Professor Zitter. YOU RULE
He is a tough teacher, but you will learn a LOT from his class. Make sure you put in a lot of effort in your essays if you want that A. Chill guy, but you should not miss any of his classes. You will miss a lot. Take him if you are up for the challenge and if you want to improve your writing and critical thinking.
He is a tough grader and hardly ever seems satisfied with any students work. If you want to take his class be prepared to do constant essay writing and not only write them but write them good...
He is not really a tough grader like people are saying because if you mess up on one essay, he lets you submit revisions. He just expects you to try-- to explore every possibility in an argument. He's brilliant and really cares about students. Plus he picks fun things to read and write about!!!! Highly recommended-- THE BEST ENG TEACHER I'VE HAD.
Hardest essay grader i've come across. It's like you have to write as if u were an english major. But I understand where he's coming from and why he grades the way he does. However, I definitely became a better writer. Good teacher, not a bad guy at all. In class discussions were pretty interesting. Real deal Eng class, not an easy A
great teacher. very funny. I didn't think his grading was overly hard. really interesting stories. wouldn't recommend anyone else.
first of all he is a beautiful man, but he is just a real person. He knows what it's like to be in college and pay hundreds of dollars to buy books, so his costs $20. He knows writing about stuff that doesn't matter to you isn't gonna keep your interest and teach you anything. He teaches real life. You learn so much from him even if he grades hard.
Jeremy Zitter is by far one of the greatest English professors at OCC. He is totally passionate about what he teaches. His short stories and books are interesting and moving. I would highly recommend Zitter! Not an easy class, but you will learn a lot. Thanks Mr. Zitter!!
Jeremy is amazing! I've learned so much. He's interesting, funny, and easy to talk to. There's four essays in his class and you can rewrite two of them for better grades. If you show up and listen, you'll do fine. He walks you through each essay so there's rarely any grey areas, and if you are confused, he makes himself very available
he's a brilliant professor! he is the best English professor that i have taken and he changed the way I write my essays now.. everything is more clear and now and im glad i took his class.! he does make you learn what the material is about but hes very very VERY helpful! the stories are fun to read. RECOMMENDED! TAKE THIS CLASS!
He is a really good professor. Your grade depends on your essays. There are some in-class things, but not many. You are allowed to redo two of your essays. The first one, and a choice between the second or third. Interesting topics to write on. 1 research paper and 2 in-class. I plan on taking the Critical Thinking class with him as well.
Great professor! I really enjoyed his class! I took his class for summer and it was incredibly fast-paced since we only had 8 weeks. It was definitely challenging but Mr. Zitter gives you all the tools to be successful. I wish I would have taken him for a regular semester...I loved his class that much!
He is a tough teacher, but you will learn a LOT from his class. Make sure you put in a lot of effort in your essays if you want that A. Chill guy, but you should not miss any of his classes. You will miss a lot. Take him if you are up for the challenge and if you want to improve your writing and critical thinking
The best English teacher I have ever had. He would help you to build your self-confidence in English, and this is rare.
He gives two in-class essays and four out-of-class essays with interesting topics. You're given an idea about the in-class essay prompts prior to the in-class essay, so you can prepare ahead. He rarely gives homework and doesn't make you buy an overly pricey textbook. Really reasonable and cool professor, sometimes moody. I enjoyed his class!
He is a really chill teacher. I've always had a hard time understanding English class but he makes everything so easy to understand. His essays are easy and interesting. It was the easiest English class I have ever had.
I absolutely loved his class! I really wish I had taken him for English 100 as well. This class is not that hard. I wrote most of my essays the day that they were due. Do yourself a favor and TAKE HIM!
Really really good teacher!! Highly recommended from a friend who took his class before. So I decieded to take him. I was not disappointed by his teaching ability. Essays are fun and challenging and class is fun and helpful. If your not sure on an English teacher, I strongly recommend him. It also didn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes ;)
My favorite professor so far at OCC! He's somewhat of a tough grade, but he gives you clear instructions to what he wants out of your essay and if you follow them you'll do fine. Highly recommend taking him for English. I wish I would have known about him for English 100
Such and amazing teacher! I looked forward to going to his class each week. He is not the easiest grader however he is clear about what he expects in each essay and provides helpful guidelines. He is easy to relate to and makes himself very available for extra help. I refuse to take a 101 class without him as my teacher!
I took his class a couple semesters ago, and I have to admit that he is the best english professor I have ever had. He definitely helped me to be a better writer. If you want to learn, seriously take him!
Best english teacher i've ever taken. I got an A but it was by no means easy. In this class you will read a lot and spend hours trying to analyze passages from the stories. You get to revise 2/4 essays. he gives extra credit and drops your 3 lowest quiz scores.
Great guy and class. If you can write decently, a B in the class is easy. Its your opinions on stories. sometimes I got off track from the topic but still got a B through a decent analysis. An A is more challenging, but he offers make ups on essays. he gives opinions to make it better which helps redo. If you ditch a lot you will get a bad grade
I had jeremy for his 100 class and loved him them because he challenged me to become a better writer. In 101 he was still challenging but i found it pretty easy to get an A if you meet the requirements. Definitely a teacher i'd recommend!
best English professor that I have ever had! I failed English 100 two semesters before I took him so it means something if I say that he was easy and I passed his class. He is very helpful and always goes over the essay topics with you, and clarifies everything so you fully understand it. He is not s tough grader as long as you do what he asks.
by far the best english teacher i've ever taken. he's very clear what he wants out of you and gives a lot of guidance in class. i got an A, which wasn't actually that hard. you just have to do the work and implement the feedback and lectures into your essays. i feel like i really improved my writing skills
He would challenge you to work hard for every assignment, but, at the same time, he would give you the freedom to express your thoughts with no fear of judgment. I still go back to what I've learned from him in order to do my current writings. Take him, and you would develop a new way of thinking.
Jeremy is a good teacher and very helpful. He offers extra credit it you want to read your essay out loud besides that there aren't any presentations. The class is pretty straight forward and you can revise a few essays in order to get a higher grade. There are two in class essays but he gives you the prompt before. Overall he's a great teacher!
He's seriously such an amazing teacher. Even though he's challenging, he really cares about students and that they actually GET the subject. He taught me the FANBOYS rule, which I never knew before college. He's just great OK. But I would not recommend if you don't want to actually try.
Awesome teacher! BUT, he will tell you that you wrote a great paper and then give you a B, because he thinks you should of wrote it differently. He is really big on content and structure, so revise revise revise!!! I recommend his class!
Great teacher & he is very helpful. Class consists of reading assignments, quiz every class meeting & group discussions, 4 essays, and 1 final in-class essay. The stories were very interesting! Oh, there is a small group presentation about the different theories to analyze literature. Deconstruction was not my forte, but I enjoyed his class.
He is a hard grader! He does tell you EXACTLY what he wants on a pear though, so you can't blame him. He lets you revise 3 essays IF you go to class everyday and are there for peer editing. He lets you read your essays in front of class for extra credit opportunities. He is very helpful! What else is there to say.... oh yeah! He's super HOT!
This professor is top notch. He's a really genuine nice guy and just expects you to do the readings he assigns/write adequate papers. He stresses group work therefore you can understand a tad bit better rather than sitting there listening to him lecture you become engaged and learn. Cool dude overall. Lots of breaks and you can revise your papers.
Pros: interesting class discussion, interesting readings (at first), chill professor, easy quizzes, learned a lot. Cons: readings are depressing, class can be difficult if you are a full-time student w/ a job, he can get pretty emotional/moody at times and will make snide remarks(not often), there is an unnecessary group project. Overall: average
Super chill professor. He's a little snarky though, haha. 5 essays, last one is your final. Quizzes are pretty easy, but he is a very hard grader for essays. One group presentation worth 5 points.. take him! He's awesome.
The first two class sessions, I didn't get him. By the third session, I realized how fine an instructor he was. You will not skate through his class, but the work is not overwhelming, and participation goes a long way toward success.
Loved his class! Its not an easy A but if you just do the assignments and dont slack on the ready you will definitely have an A and he even lets you redo your papers for a better grade. DEFINITELY recommend his class!
Mr. Zitter is an awesome english teacher! He's really good at doing his job and he's my favorite teacher. Im going to take his fall class because he's so understandable. Doesn't put up with students who skip a lot of class and he grades very good. loved his research paper he explains his prompts very good and clear so that you can get a good grade!
The class was fine. The readings are interesting and my writing improved, but Mr. Zitter was moody and pretty arrogant. It felt like there was some self-importance or something getting in the way of him being totally helpful and clear. If I could do over, I'd go with an instructor who's more humble and helpful.
I Look forward to attending his classes every time! He can be moody when you show up late to his class on "rough draft day". Btw, attendance doesn't count. He'll just deduct points after every absence though. Other than that, he is really nice. Despite his tough grading, there are no tests or quizzes for this class. Essay topics are also veryeasy.
Not an easy grader on essay ! Actually, you can learn thing from him but it will take you some time. I'm straight A student, but this class is not easy and the professor is helpless. I don't know why the previous comments are positive. Not good for international students.
I really liked Mr. Zitter! I took him during summer, so it was really compacted. He is a tough grader, but he tells you that and allows you to re-do 25 of your graded papers and for the final paper, he will take it early and you are able to revise it. I would take him again!
I love Professor Jeremy's class. His lectures are engaging, dedicated, and top notched. He's clear about what he wants, and makes you work for it. He also always encourages and explores new ideas as well as interprerations in critical thinking, which ignites interesting discussions and appreciation among the class. I'd love to take him again!
By far Jeremy was the best professor I had at OCC. Expect to read lots of short stories, however the stories are very interesting. He is very clear in all of his assignments and he is willing to help if you go to him. He also gives great feedback on your essay. You get to revise 2 essays out of 4.
Quizzes EVERYDAY!!!! TOUGH GRADER!!!! Participation MUST! Not good for ESL students!
I had Mr. Zitter for two semesters (English 100 and 101) and he is a nice teacher, but he can be a tough grader though (all the english teachers I've had have been). There is one group project (English 101) that is worth 5% of your final grade. I highly recommend him for english.
He is a really tough grader i got an a in eng 99 and barely passed in his class .. he is clear thorough and lets you revise 2 essays no quizzes or tests and barely any homework . he offers a lil extra credit . the majority of the class I'm guessing got c's because we talked about his grading... he's tough he even says that he is a hard grader.
I really enjoyed his class. It's an english class, so be ready for a lot of reading and papers. Professor Zitter makes it very clear what he expects from you. His lectures were entertaining and there was a lot of student involvement.
Jeremy is very helpful and wants you to be a better writer, and will help you if you are serious. His grading style is good, lets you help give N get other students' feedback so you can think about your own paper as a grader. He respects deep analysis and wants you to stick your neck out and make a good argument N take risks for your premise.
Jeremy, is the ideal teacher. He is very clear on what he wants and will help you through it. His grading is tough, because its fair. This isn't an easy A class, but its inspiring and insightful. Im a psych major, yet this was my favorite class. I highly recommend him if you want to learn and have a fun interactive class.
Very clear. Gives you opportunities to revise your essays and get a better grade. the quizzes on the short stories, are incredibly easy, if you actually read the story. The essays are fun to do and the classes are entertaining. Take his class!
The class is an easy A if you are adept at writing papers and can contribute to class discussion. If he thinks you are smart, you are golden. On the other hand, I saw him speak disrespectfully to other students he did not think were so smart. Not cool. I didn't personally find the guy very likable but the books were okay and the grading was easy.
English learners & international students avoid. Students looking for a challenge should take him. I put in a lot of work in this class considering I'm not an English major and probably got a mid-high B, he doesn't post grades to blackboard. I will admit that I definitely became a better analyzer and writer while under Zitter's wing.
I took Professor Zitter's class this past semester and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. He truly does make you a better writer if you're willing to put in the work which is not hard. I enjoyed his class a lot more than I thought I would, and walked out with a A. I can't wait to take him for English 101.
Great
I absolutely hate writing! It's definitely not my forte after taking Mr. Zitter's class, i improved so much on my writing. Yes, he is a hard grader, but he lets you revise your papers; if you show up to every revision, he will let you revise your papers. He's just an all-around great human being. Also, he is freakishly handsome.
hands down- the best english prof i've taken. yes, there's a lot of reading and yes you do have to work for your A. unlike the other english profs, he gives you your freedom as a writer and shows you what he expects out of an A paper. there is always a quiz on the reading from the night before, so be sure to refresh your memory b4 class!
He's part of the reason I became and English Major. Took his class in 2013 I believe. I took his Summer 100 and then took 101 immediately after.
I really liked Zitter! You write a lot of essays but he gives clear instructions on what he wants on each paper. He grades papers and gives them back so you can revise them for a higher score. He's not an easy grader but if you go into his office hours he'll read your essay & give you feedback before the due date. I learned a lot but worked hard!
Prof. Zitter is a good guy. I enjoyed his class for a few reasons. 1. He makes the in class lecture entertaining with good analysis and class participation. 2. He pushes you to think outside of the box. 3. You will enjoy reading by the end of his class, you read ALOT. Overall, he's grades tough but the class is passable, just participate.
Zitter is awesome! Took him for ENGL 100 & 101. Helpful and I learned a lot. Definitely recommend!!!!
For Eng 101, you have 3 out of class essays, 2 in-class essays, and 1 group presentation. He is not an easy grader but you can rewrite any of your out of class paper for a higher grade. Overall, I think Jeremy is a pretty cool professor.
Not my best English teacher. He is a very hard grader. I am no English major. The cool part is he lets you re-write any essay you turn in. Never at his office hours. I feel I didnt learn anything in his class and was just a waist of a class I took.
BEST CLASS EVER, I LEARNED SO MUCH! I passed the class with a 95%. There are 3 Take-Home essays and 2 In-Class Essays for the semester. He lets you do revisions on the Take-Home Essays, which is so nice because he gives clear feedback on how to improve. There are quizzes each day of the class on assigned readings. Easy points, just read. BEST prof!
Tbh I was scared to take this class, but in the end this was my fav class and prob the most easiest engl class I've ever taken. 3 out of class essays, 2 in class. If you're competent enough to thoroughly explain your evidence, you'll do fine. Take his feedback into consideration. Daily quizzes for readings, but easy A if you JUST READ.
he was my all time favorite teacher and im dying to take him again for english 101. He really allows you to write creatively. From someone who loves writing, i really enjoyed his class and him as a teacher. Not to mention he is not bad to look at. He's really funny and passionate about writing and teaching. He is a tough grader on the essays.
Excellent Professor. Great discussions. Willing to help before essays are due. Lets you revise essays. Very insightful and interesting stories and analysis. Peer response of rough drafts is very helpful. He gives you confidence in your responses to the particular works of literature. Funny and relative. I would take any of his classes.
Hes a tough grader but if you do the work you'll get through it. He is great at listening, advising and being there if you need the help and overall, Zitter is a fantastic teacher and I would take him again. He's also pretty funny!
Zitter is an awesome guy! Loved his prompts & never enjoyed writing but found his class very enjoyable. He lets you two of your essays for better grades. I'd like to think of myself as a decent writer however I felt as though he graded very hard because out of all essays except one, I had received C's.. or maybe I am just a bad writer tbh xD
Zitter is a great professor. I've never been great with English Lit, but I literally became a better writer and critical thinker because of Zitter. Know what a 10-on-1 is like the back of your hand. Don't analyze a quote only one specific way, write about multiple meanings effectively and explain them. All of the stories we read were pretty crazy.
Zitter is the best! I never liked writing papers in high school but his prompts were much more interesting which made writing come simply! Hes very specific with what he wants incorporated in your paper and if you do so you will be graded fine. You can also revise essays! Class ended a little early usually which was great!! Cool prof for sure
tough grader
I took him for English 100 & 101 and I'll say 101 was much harder. A lot of reading and challenging essays. Over all he is a great teacher and if you show that you care about writing and his class then you will learn a lot and improve. He gives interesting stories tor read and gives good feedback to help you improve. I really enjoyed his class.
Overall a good Prof. But... He's not on Canvas (which is super annoying) so you'll get loads of emails from him. Office hours are hit or miss. Also he gives tons of unnecessary handouts in class... doesn't he care about saving trees??!
Zitter is a nice guy who is always willing to help those who ask for it. He is a tough grader with the essays, but if you try hard and follow his prompts, then you will do good in his class. I honestly think he is an amazing professor, and he wants you to be a better writer. Take him if you can! :)
Overall, I definitively enjoyed this class, learned to appreciate topics that I normally would pass on, improved my critical thinking skills when reading, don't get too discourage if you get a low grade, bc he does let you revise papers & for tips: prep a day before for the in class essays & makes sure to study his handouts! It definitely helped me
take his class if you actually wanna learn and improve your writing because he does a great job at telling you what makes a paper good. no hes not an easy grader but he lets you revise papers and gives extra credit. overall, a cool guy and an efficient instructor.
EXTREMELY clear grading criteria!! I had dropped two English classes before feeling like zitter made everything clear enough to help me improve my writing at the level I went in with. I was not confident about my writing skills before this class, but now I feel like ive learned a lot from his feedback. highly recommend
took him for 100 and 101, Jeremy is most definitely one of the best profs on campus. as long as you strive to do your best in his class and have solid understanding of the English language, you will be fine. the books you read are exciting and keep you engaged. highly recommend him.
Cool teacher! Took him for 100, and 101. 101 was quite a lot more work, but well worth it. Highly recommend.
He is not friendly to the international student. If he feels not suitable for your draft and he will strongly recommend you drop his class or not going to give you a good grade to pass the course.
Chill teacher, hard grader, really need to put a lot of effort to maintain that B, dont be shy and ask for help after class or go to the student success center, gives lots of feedback so lots of room for improvements, class is a bit boring
Professor Zitter is easily the best English professor at OCC. His class is very clear, organized, and not very heavy on homework. Professor Zitter unlike other English teachers does not constrain his students with overly fastidious prompts, this allows his students more freedom when writing and I believe that sparks genuine interest and development
Although he is super passionate about English, he is a tough grader. During lectures he does give out good ideas that you wouldnt normally think about. There is about 5 or 6 in & outside class essays. I believe overall he is narcissistic and no matter how hard you try, it still isnt good enough for his standards. He is not on canvas all semester
I took his English 100 and 101 classes a few semesters back. Zitter is awesome! He genuinely cares about his students and is a really great teacher on top of being a busy new parent. I am a pretty good writer and his class challenged me in ways that I truly appreciated. Thanks for the awesome classes Prof!
Would definitely not take English with this guy.
Very tough grader he even admitted it on the first day of class. Im okay when it comes to writing and I had to work hard on my essays and still got Cs. Dont take him if youre not an English major. His expectations are way too high for a 100 level class.
avoid!!! there are better professors at occ who arent as tough as he is on grading.
This guy grades ridiculously hard for an English 100 class. Highly, highly, highly do not recommend. Unless you want to have a horrible experience, please do yourself a huge favor and pick a different teacher.
Jeremy is great! I don't know why everyone reviewing seems to dislike him. He is very clear about what he wants and is wonderful at teaching. I would recommend him if you want to be a better writer and want good feedback. Jeremy is also a really nice guy and will help you with whatever you need.
Throughout my life I thought I just sucked at writing. I never got above a C in high school no matter how hard I tried. I signed up for this class hoping I can just get a C and pass. To my surprise, I got As and Bs on every essay! Jeremy provides lots of helpful feedback and accepts essay revisions for a new grade as well. Show up to class & pass!
TRUST ME IF YOU SEE THIS. Do yourself a favor and take this class! I'm not the best at writing, but professor Zitter helped me improve my writing so much. This was my third time taking English 100 and I passed. He's very clear on what he wants. He's grading can be hard, but you can always revise for a better grade!
if I could rate this man a negative I would. I went to every zoom turned everything in on time and still got bad participation. He told me to warn him in advance next time bc my grandpa died. hes such a harsh grader, gives a lot of discussion boards, I wish I could drop the class but its too late now.
Professor Zitter is honestly the best and has been a good professor throughout the whole situation with COVID-19. He is picky when grading the essays but he gives good feedback and has a clear grading system for the essays. He gives 4 essays and 2 timed writing assignments intotal. Also, he lets you revise the first 3 essays to get a better score.
took him last semester and was very considerate when we switched to online due to covid. i highly recommend going to his office hours! he gives good feedback and potentially extra time to finish your essay hes really caring & a pretty interesting lecturer. theres a reading quiz every class day (but u just need to get a 70% avg to get full points!
Super understanding and cares for his students. He is a tough grader on essays; however, he offers lots of extra credit. I would 100% take his class again, he kept it fun and interesting.
Jeremy Zitter can sometimes be like your parent when you want to be upset, but you know they are right. He expects effort, participation and a willingness to work for your grade. He's a real solid dude. If you want the best 101 class at OCC, take him, you won't regret it.
I have never once experienced an English teacher angry over being descriptive and using sensory words within an essay before. Rather than grading properly he chooses to judge out of opinion. He practically said my essay/my opinion was incorrect. In the final note he left says to revise it but in my conclusion he basically said redo it. Don't take!
Professor Zitter seems like a really nice guy however his class is not one I would recommend. It's impossible to please him when it comes to essays and that's all you are graded on. He's not specific on what he expects of you and is the toughest grader I've ever come across. Definitely stay away from this class!
super chill professor! as long as you communicate with him if you need any extensions, then he's okay with it BUT he grades essays super hard and gives them one after another. his extra credit that he offers if ever, is barely anything and does nothing for your grade. overall, he's way too harsh on grading even when he's not even an honors class.
honestly would not recommend this class unless you enjoy pain. dude is way too harsh and assigns too many essays to breathe.
Great prof that I would recommend. You do need to put effort in to this class, but if you do that, you should be fine. Gives a lot of good feedback. Participation matters! You most likely wont pass if you dont. The textbook is really just two books that he assigns to read. He has 5 essays, which 2 are timed for midterm and final.
I do not recommend this class. Ridiculously tough grader. Only a few papers-if you dont do well on one, it is difficult to recover. Extra credit not enough to raise your grade. Unless you are an English major, I would go with another instructor. This was honestly my least favorite class at OCC.
I really enjoyed his class! The only thing that I found difficult was that I did not know what he was exactly looking for in an essay. I also didn't like the fact he wanted almost all his papers to be personal. I would still defiantly take one of his classes again because I learned a lot! He is also a very caring person.
This class has an emphasis on writing papers, and it is not an easy A (you will have to apply effort). With that said, Professor Zitter is very reasonable, grades fairly, and is willing to work with you along as you communicate with him. Ask questions and don't forget to attach your works cited page to your essay.
your grade in this class is all papers. even as a STEM major, I was fine with it because once i got one paper in that satisfied criteria I could replicate it over . He was also somewhat understanding when I asked for extensions and mention triggering themes like depression/suicide (abundant in this class literature). Take him. Not super ez but fair
Actual horrible teacher. Too many papers and likes to make examples out of students he does not like. Do not take this class if you are suicidal because it sure made me.
Professor Zitter is the perfect professor to take as an incoming freshman. He truly helps you and provides amazing feedback on your essays as well as your participation as a student in general.
I took his hybrid class, which was honestly one of the best classes in my schedule. You have to write about six essays in total, but all of the topics were easy, and you get to choose your subject of those topics. All of his assignments helped write your essay and were completely manageable. I recommend this class. :)
To be honest, do not take his class. I had a fair experience taking his Hybrid class. He is rude and is ALL about pUrPoSe. He like things done his way or no way. He is extremely rude & will call you out if you are late, despite he canceled class at 5 AM day of... I literally drove to campus - super discourteous yet will throw a tantrum if your late
Whatever you do NOT take his class. He is extremely inconsiderate and is passive aggressive. Things need to be done his way or no way.
He was a cool teacher and his assignments were actually interesting and fun to do. He is just a bit of a tough grader, He also doesn't totally love giving credit where its due when grading and usually only gives sort of passive feedback, its usually pretty helpful though.
Overall a pretty good guy. The only problem someone may have with this class is how tough his grading can be. However, he does give you the tools to complete the tasks he asks of you, and does give insightful info as to how to improve your essay writing skills. If you are competent at English, an A is within reach.
He is very eloquent, and his expectations are reasonable. I also think he is quite patient.
He is very understanding and gives great feedback on papers. Attendance is mandatory and lectures are easy to follow.
His grading is mainly reliant on essays (2 submitted through turnitin, 2 in-person timed), so keep that in mind. I took his freshman composition asynchronous class, and the online portion/homework is mainly discussion posts. There's no textbook required and reading is minimal, it's mostly writing and he gives great, insightful feedback on papers.
Professor Zitter overall was a good professor. He was quite passive aggressive, but he still was genuine. He takes writing very seriously and wants you to succeed if you actually try. He does tend to talk a lot in the lectures.
He does want people to succeed and do well in the class, but, he is a very specific grader and only looks for a specific "purpose" to your essay. For the most part, he lets you revise essays but it is very difficult to get credit for anything. He is strict on attendance and participation. Overall, he is a nice teacher and pretty understanding.

Overall a great professor, I could understand why people thought he's a tough grader but if you're good at writing then his class will be easy because there are a lot of eddays
Professor Zitter has a unique teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class can be quite rewarding. The workload is manageable, and the feedback is genuinely helpful. For extra study prep, I found unstuckstudy AI and past essays useful alongside the course materials.
I took Professor Zitter over the summer for ENG100.After having a crazy prof the semester prior i was terrified going into class. He is an excellent teacher with clear grading criteria's, and if you miss the mark he will make corrections and recommendations and give you a reasonable time frame to turn the paper in again for a better grade.
Professor Zitter is a really great professor. Your grade is very reliant on a few essays but he gives good feedback and allows revisions. He definitely wants his students to succeed and is understanding and communicative. His reading assignments are pretty interesting too. Super cool guy
Loved the professor, he really cares about the students and wants the best for each students. I would say he is a tough grader, but if you do all the discussion board assignments you'll be okay. I would also recommend doing the revision for the essays!
He was a good english professor overall. Gave helpful feedback on essays, and genuinely cared for growth and development. Cons is he can be sometimes passive aggressive, goes on long talking tangents where he repeats himself in 30 diff fonts, and is VERY on about purpose in writing. Participation and doing your discussions on time will help a lot.
Awesome professor. He gives really good feedback on the papers and takes into consideration your progress throughout the semester. Attending class is mandatory as well as scoring a 75% in homework completion (discussion board posts) to even pass the course. He's also super lenient with late work compared to other professors. Definitely recommend.
This class was very hard. If you're not majoring in English I suggest you look for a different class. Professor is a very hard grader, almost as if your voice/opinions don't matter unless they align with his. I will say he goes the extra mile on giving feedback.
Get ready to read and have brainstorm. He is such a great professor, after taking his 100 and 101, I found myself getting more used to reading and writing. Indeed, his lecture and grading is challenging, but it will open your mind, and lead you to new perspectives, not just for literature, but also for your life.
This professor is a very tough grader and super arrogant as well. He is a very tough grader because of how proud he is of himself. He never makes his directions clear on what he expects of you in papers. Assignments/papers were hard. The assignments put no effect on your grade. He is tough at grading papers and that's all you are ever graded on.
This professor is a tough grader. The discussions or assignments don't put any affect on the grade. He grades papers very hard and that's all you are ever graded on. After all the hard work you put into this class, this professor will only give you a C.
This professor is a very tough grader and the assignments are very hard. This professor is very proud of himself and also seems to be a redneck who is not very good for foreign students. He is very proud of himself and arrogant. If you take the class with someone else, you can get an A while putting in a lot less effort.
This professor is a very proud professor. He is not easy to deal with. If you take any other professor, you will get a higher grade by putting in a lot less effort. If you put a lot of effort into this class, you will only get a C while if you put less effort into a different professor, you will get an A. Do not take. Avoid it at all costs.
This class is very hard. This professor will only mess up your GPA.
Not only are the assignments super hard but the professor is also a tough grader himself because of his arrogance and pride. If only you know what this class is like, you would never take it.
This professor is a very tough grader because of his arrogance. There is literally a quiz every week and no assignment or discussion posts ever put any weight or affect on your grades. He grades papers so tough and that's all you are ever graded on. Only 5 assignments throughout the whole semester are what you are graded on.
Taking Zitter's class was one of my worst academic experiences. The material was triggering, he was unapproachable, and he dismissed any work or idea that didn't match his views. When I shared my concern about how the class environment was affecting my anxiety, he told me he didn't believe me. If you value your writing, choose another professor.
Taken in Spring. He is fine. There is a quiz every time u meet in person abt the story u were suppose to read. Assigned reading is stated in the syllabus. ~4 essays, most of them are in class. He will prepare you for the in class essay, but ultimately the prompt is unknown until class. His grading is meh, is not too harsh.
Took this class in spring. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand and he is direct but not rude. All assignments and grades are clearly outlined. Lots of chances for extra credit. Did 4 essays - 3 of which were in-class. He is quite generous and understanding when it comes to grading, just follow all the instructions.
Was overall a pretty good professor. I just never could seem to provide a correct answer to what he was asking in class which made it difficult to please when writing essays.
Taking Professor Zitter's class is the worst experience I've had in college. He doesn't value anyone or their work at all and still ends up giving people C's. If you take this class with any other professor you will get an A without having to put as much effort to get a C in this class. Take this class with someone else and your work will be valued
My two years taking OCC I never hated a class more than this one he does not value your work no matter how much you try and you still get a c do not take this class its hard for no reason
Homework doesn't matter; only the essay counts, and the teacher does not grade the homework at all. As a result, you won't know your real grade until the class is over. I believe Zitter does his own positive ratings on here, but he's the worst I've ever had. I recommend avoiding this class
I don't understand the positive reviews since half my class left after the second essay. This professor could negatively impact your GPA because he only gives out Cs
he is not very understanding if you have literally any issues, just pick someone else, easy class though
Took him for 100 and 101. Jeremy was good professor for incoming students taking English. His grading can be tough but will allow revisions for +10% on the grade of your essay. Gives very good feedback on what went wrong and what you can do to fix it. Extra credit provided, won't be a lot but could help your grade a little (i.e. 79% to an 81%).
I didn't find Zitter to be a tough grader like others did. As long as you follow directions, participate in class, and read the material, a good grade is light work. He talks a lot. In his hybrid class, he only lectures, with no discussions in groups. Essays are done in class on a lockdown browser.
Clearly, Zitter is a very negative person and he does his own ratings on here.
