I love her! At first she will scare you into withdrawing the class, but don't because she is not as hard as she makes herself to be. She makes class really interesting and fun, she is also really into english so she is very helpful and full of info. Always willing to help her students!
Class required an enormous amount of reading, but overall she's a very knowledgeable teacher. She's very nice and funny at times, but she quizzes you every week to make sure you do the reading. Be prepared for a lot of work if you choose to take her.
Omg this was the hardest class ever. She was cool and was funny but can be really strict. And the amount of reading you have to do is ridiculous. I'll take up 75% of your time so don't take this class unless your a fast reader/love to read. She also quizzes every week to make sure you read. I must emphasize again that its ALOT of reading.
Professor Zulli is the best! The other reviews are on the mark. There is a lot of reading and each week's quiz is about it. I love to read and she picks really good stuff so I had no problem. She is so sweet and genuinely interested in helping you and engaging you. I had her for another class as well. She's great!
Finally, a class where history could “stick” because it’s learned through the lens of literature taught by an amazingly engaged teacher. She speaks very fast, so it can be for a foreigner. Still, I loved this class! Her explanations are full of life examples and humor; she cares about your life as much as current society and politics.
An amazing, interesting professor! There was A LOT of reading, but the discussions were interesting and it was a comfortable environment. The reading, research paper, midterm and final were all possible to pass and do well as long as you do not wait to the last minute to read and read everything. I hate history, but this class was awesome!
Professor Zulli is very helpful. There is TONS of reading, but it is interesting. Professor Zulli gives a quiz every week from the reading. There is a chance to get extra credit. She keeps the class interesting and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend this professor.
Professor Zulli is the best english teacher at FIT. She is brilliant, energetic, fun, and challenging. There is a lot of reading and quizzes every week, but if you read the material, you will get an A. There is also a research paper, and 2 exams which are fairly easy if you took notes in the semester. Best teacher ever, I would recommend her.
Lots of reading but the text is interesting. Very good teacher. Enthusiastic and passionate. History from a different perspective. I recommend her. If you want a good grade then do the work!
As a student who hates reading, we read an awful lot.BUT she does pick good stories and will quiz u every week.She expects u there every class and you can only have 1 absence. I started out being scared of her b/c i am terrible at history..but I am now extremely into her discussions and I am learning a lot. I really like her, she knows her stuff!
Absolutely hate this class this coarse is horrid and boring requires you too read tiny text and a lot of it too like literally 30 pages of tiny print every week and then very class there is quiz. No body has time for all that . Do not take this class if you love your life
She's literally terrible. The discussions are so boring and she is extremely strict about attendance. I received straight A's throughout high school in all honor and AP English classes and out of every English class I've taken so far, this is by far the worst.
Jeri (as she prefers to be called) was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful the entire semester. The reading can be a little intense at times but really not nearly as much as others have reported (in my opinion). Quizzes each week, midterm/final, and one research paper. Very fair and keeps it funny and interesting. Loved her and highly recommend!
Honestly, I really hated going to this class. However, Professor Zulli is really nice (though intimidating at first) and really passionate about the material, which made it bearable. I recommend not taking this class if you plan on taking many in the semester, because the workload is really heavy!
Second semester and class with Professor Zulli - still a huge fan. All of the readings, which can be a bit much but are always interesting, were relevant and enjoyable. She is very knowledgeable and committed to putting all of the literature into historical context. Weekly quizzes, midterm, final, and research paper. My favorite Professor!
She is AMAZING. Definitely one of the smartest and best english teachers I have ever had. She really does care about the students and is very funny. I took her Gothic Horror class and we had readings which weren't that bad and interesting. I learned a lot from her through lectures. If you can, take her class because she is great.
I recommend NOT taking this class unless you want absolutely no time for your other more important classes. She will give you tons of reading every class which become extremely exhausting beyond the third class. She's unnecessarily strict about attendance and only gives you one free absence. She's sweet and helpful, but not worth the trouble.
nice person. TONS of reading that you have to do or else you wont pass. weakly homwork, reading and quizes. she doesnt tell you whats on the midterm and final until the week before the test so she only really gives you a week to study and prepare, but allows you to have a sheet of notes for the tests, can have as much info as needed any size font:)
Relies heavily on participation, so talk often. The weekly reading assignments are not long and if they are, they are a quick read. And the weekly quizzes are extremely short and she offers extra credit on them. The midterm was quite difficult, I prepared before and still nearly failed it and she does not give the best feedback on it.
Read, & make sure you get a head start on your reading. Come to class you can't text in class, make sure you have you computer with you instead to "take notes" she's understanding and a great teacher. she makes it seems like the class is crazy hard but its really not she's very upfront about what she wants from you.
Jeri is such an amazing and funny teacher! At first, I was pretty upset that I had to take an English Lit class with material before the 1800s, but she made it very interesting. Get ready to read for at least an hour a night to retain the information. She gives a quiz every class, but offers easy extra credit at least 5 times during the semester.
I took her for short fiction, and it was by far my favorite class of the semester. I normally hate classes where I have to read, but the stories are short so it's not a crazy workload, and her discussions make the class a lot of fun. I definitely recommend Jerri, and if I can take her again I will!
She's one of those professors that expects you to devote a tremendous amount of time to her class. She give a lot of reading. The course work isn't hard but the amount of work given is a lot. It was very hard for me to balance her class with my other course work.
If you have a heavy workload in other classes, then don't take this one. She can be rude and is very strict about attendance; will take off points on your second absence. What seems like an exciting course is dull in reality-the entire class revolves around the readings and not much else. Overall, I genuinely hated this class.
Jeri is my favorite prof at FIT, she's amazing and helpful. I love her!! As long as you read the stories she assigns (majority of them are short), you'll pass. The final was a research paper. This class requires you to read and work, but I'm telling you it's so worth it. If you have the chance to take a class of hers, you'll be glad you did.
Super good teacher. She is a rough grader but you learn a lot. She really helped me grow with my writing.
Took her Gothic to Horror lit class thinking because of her reviews on here she'd be easy,boy was I wrong. Tons of readings and a quiz every class, midterm and a final 7 page research paper. I always enjoyed Literature till I took her class, definitely makes you work hard for your grade. Shes funny and nice but Unless you like this genre DONOTTAKE.
Try to get out of her classes if you can. Lots of pointless busy work, doesn't give breaks, rough grader, doesn't know how to teach regularly wasting 20 minutes of class time talking about her cats.

I always love a challenge but this class is too much. She's an amazing human being and you learn a LOT about working women, but the work load is highly unnecessary. Studying for the final would drive you nuts because there's so much to study you don't even know where to start. This class had me STRESSED.
If you don't want to be drowning in work DO NOT TAKE HER!! I was so stressed taking her class!! The content was very interesting, and you definitely learn something from her class, but for an elective class she assigns way too much work to balance with other classes. None of my core classes did as much as she did. Very sweet though.

Great class if you have absolutely nothing else to do: no other classes, no job, just time to read a ton and then read two more assignments, then read a novel. Then write about what you read and read something else that will give some insight into the reading. She is nice which is a +

Prof. Zulli clearly cares a lot about the subject but doesn't try at all to make it interesting. lots and lots and lots of reading, basically thinks her class is the most important and holds assignments to an impossible standard. quizzes every single week
She is nice, but literally reads her slides and doesn't add any useful information. She sent us an email before the class started and told us to tell our loved ones we'd see them at the end of the semester which so messed up!!! It's pretty much impossible to get 100's on assignments and her grading standards are ridiculous.
This class was insanely hard. If you have a heavy course load DO NOT I repeat DO NOT take the Working Women in US class with her! There is so much reading, and it is hard readings, barely English. If you don't give her the exact answers she is looking for, you will get a very bad grade. Nice lady in the outside world, but not in this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!! The amount of weekly work assigned is absolutely ridiculous. I am a senior and took this class thinking it would be somewhat easy and interesting. WRONG. It is the worst class I have ever taken in my life I am beyond stressed, to the point of tears. Readings, discussions, and quizzes weekly. Hard grader for no reason.
The workload is insane for her class and she has really high expectations so don't expect to get a good grade easily
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I just think that this professor is very disrespectful only because she knows I am a FITABLE student. and was very insensitive about it. This professor does not know how to teach because she doesn't give any activities to work on during class to help students understand a book better. She rudely talked about me to others.
Terrible class. If i didnt have to I would never take this class again. The workload is heavy and she expects you to only focus on your class. The deadlines are unrealistic and most of the material is a bunch of reading that is unnecessary. She could of made this class interesting but its very dull with too much work.
Professor Zulli is incredibly knowledgable and I learned so much from this class. She clearly lays out the semester and explains her grading criteria, however, this class is A LOT of work. Between lectures, readings, quizzes, homework, and papers, there's a good amount of assignments due each week. If you stay on top of the work, you'll be okay.
Really awful class and professor. She is so rude to students. Doesn't care about actually teaching relevant things. This is class is very white washed as it only focuses on the history of white women. This class needs an entire curriculum make over.
This is by far the worst class I have taken in my life. If you think you already have a hefty work load, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS CLASS. She makes you meet these unrealistic deadlines for quizzes, discussions, etc.. does not care about your schedule. Sewer rats can teach better than this bum.
This class is A LOT!! Tons of reading and writing - too much. The material is interesting, but I would have actually enjoyed the class if the amount of work didn't stress me out so much. This class literally sucked the life out of me. She deducts points if you don't give exactly what she wants. Curriculum overhaul needed. Other reviews are accurate
Ridiculous. If you dont have to take her or this class please dont. Every week you have to read a chapter, 10 page article, poem and watch a lecture then take a quiz, write a paper and do a discussion board. You must read absolutely everything to complete the work. Insane amount of work for an undergrad student feels like Im getting a PHD.
Some ratings are not fair but listen to the warnings. Don't take her if you don't have to. Every week I feel like I am getting mentally beaten with watching a lecture, then readings (week three you read a whole novel, a chapter out of the textbook, and another literature reading), and finally a timed quiz and commenting as well.
Do not take this unless you want to be mentally drained and drop out of school. The amount of work given in this class is actually absurd. Every week there had to be 2 10 page readings, a 30 page chapter, a history lesson, a quiz AND a discussion board due. (with awful deadlines). Avoid at all costs!!! I regret taking this class with my whole heart
I took Jerilyn Zulli during the Spring '21 semester, and I had the insatiable desire to rate this professor at the end of my Fall '21 semester since I didn't get the chance to during student evaluations. Unspecific expectations/guidelines, rude and unhelpful feedback on work and insane amount of reading. Uninspiring class 'lectures' top it all off.
Please dont take this class im just here to help students who want to take her and save there mental and life She grades everyone awful on purpose, trust me I spoke to classmates Also gives 4 assignments a week no exceptions when students are going through hard times Shes rude doesnt respond when you need help
She assigns too much work for a gen ed class. It is cool stufying gothic literature and at times i loved it but i spend too much time on this class. Hardest class ever. I did everything and did it well and only got a b. she expects you to be a scholar and is not accommodating. dont come late or youll miss the pop quiz or journal turn in.
She is the worst professor at FIT,She humiliates students and grades based on how she feels not what she asked for or curriculum, The rating are true please save your life and mental health,She gives 3 assignments a week
If you don't have to take this professor, don't. While there isn't a lot of work, some of the readings are long and with her lectures, it can be so boring. She grades discussion posts and other assignments so harshly and if you don't say exactly what she's looking for, or you don't reply to a bunch of other students, you're not getting full credit.
AWFUL. Her grading procedures make 0 sense and grades however she feels and the work load is absurd. Extremely rude and inconsiderate. I did everything I could, devoted more time to studying, extra credit assignments, etc and still only got a B. Unhelpful, unaccommodating and overall an ineffective professor and educator.
Honestly if you have the time to take this class take it! Yes there is a lot of reading but the professor in my opinion was great and you just need to read, do assignments, and discussion boards. The discussion boards can be Annoying but like I said if you have time then you can get an A in this class.
Being that this class is mandatory for CFM students, I took it online. Do not take her. Too much work for online. Weekly you have: A quiz, ch reading, ch review essay, extra readings, her audio lectures and multiple discissions. Midterm: 3 essays(400-600 wrds) Save your time and take in person w someone else. She is delusion w/ this work load.
SO MUCH WORK. Do not take this class online. TAKE IT IN PERSON. You will save so much time and energy. She is the toughest grader and does not care if you fail. She grades based on her opinion and not by how she literally assigns the assignment! I do not know why FIT still allows her to be a professor; the workload is insane for a gen ed class.

I haven't even finished this course and would never recommend this professor. She gives SO MUCH work every week and is a tough grader. If she doesn't like your response in the slightest she will take points off. So much reading. She will make you hate English even more than you already do. Not fun at all or understanding.
I don't understand why this class is required for CFM majors, but it's a shame. It monopolizes your time and takes away from your core classes. Just an unnecessary amount of work. The textbook is antiquated and hard to even understand most of the time. She requires you to read a whole novel on top of that. Too short window to post in discussions.
Unless you just have too much time on your hands or you just enjoy reading and having 2 things due EVERY single week monday to friday, don't take this class. The prof acts as if her class should be the most prioritized when it definitely shouldn't be. Plus there's no point in emailing her because she barley responds anyways. Just don't bother
This professor was super sweet and amazing. There was a lot of coursework, but that is to be expected with a 4 week online course. She was very helpful in her feedback and was generous with her grading. Would definitely take her again.
haven't finished this course yet but wishing I never signed up for it. lots of assignments and readings due every week. you'll have to read one chapter, at least 2 or 3 literatures, take one quiz, post on discussion boards for everything you read, respond to classmates on all boards, and submit "summary" of chapter readings... EVERY WEEK.
Horrible professor. Not only is the workload for the course extremely heavy, but she is such a harsh grader. I am spending more hours on this class than any other class I am taking combined, and yet nothing I feel like I am doing is good enough. The workload expectations for this class are ridiculous and completely unreasonable - DO NOT TAKE!
you need A LOT of time. The book is $50. Grading process is confusing. She expects you to be really really good with details. YOU CANT NOT REPEAT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID IN THE DISCUSSION BOARD OR SHE WILL TAKE POINTS OFF! If you don't like to read and be at least 5 hours in a computer, don't take her, not worth it. I'm scares I wont pass.
WORST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. THEY DON'T REALLY WANT YOU TO LEARN OR THINK. THEY WANT TO GIVE YOU LOADS OF WORK FOR NO REASON.
Learned a lot. Very specific about what she wants in the discussion board, my best advice is to be the first one to the discussion boards and you will do well in her class bc you cant repeat what someone has said. Do that, be detailed in papers, and respond to comments, easy A. Though she is time consuming, but that is expected for a 4 week course.

I LOVED PROF ZULLI!!! she is so extremely kind and funny, she really wants to see you succeed. there is a lot of coursework, reading, and papers, but it's all spread out so nothing really overlaps. theres a lot of group work in class but it's never anything crazy. My whole class loves her!
If you enjoy reading and discussion, Prof Zulli is perfect. I really enjoyed the class as i LOVE gothic literature, but it was a lot of reading. It was a bit frustrating considering she would not put grades into brightspace, but was willing to let you know your grade through email.
If you are looking for an easy A do not take this class. Zulli's class is super homework and discussion post intensive, terrible for getting gen-eds out of the way. However, Zulli's courseload is incredibly comprehensive and insightful. If you put in time, you will leave the class with a robust understanding and appreciation of the course load.

This was the most unnecessarily hard online class I have ever taken. You are wrong if you think this will be a chill online class. It was more work than any of my other classes. I have learned nothing and wasted my time and money in this class. Like a highschool class.
Do not take her. There is so much reading for a gen ed class and she is an extremely hard grader. Expects way too much of students when we are in five other classes. Her assignments are over bearing and will take up so much time of your life. The textbook is a 400 page novel that she expects you to read to at least receive a passing grade.
I wish that I could go back in time and shake myself for ever taking this absolute waste of time class. The professor lacks empathy, common sense, and the ability to communicate with students. You can tell that this professor has zero outside social life other than providing hours and hours of homework to students. I learned nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Respectfully, do not take this class. This class was the heaviest in workload and took much more time and effort even out of all my CORE classes. I spent over 10hrs each week focusing on this class!! Literally in tears every week, and contemplating what I did to myself. Don't do it, unless u want flashbacks of yourself crying at the kitchen table.
I can honestly say this was the worst course and professor I've ever come across at FIT. The work load is impossible and was the equivalent to all of thee other classes I was taking at that time. I wish I would've dropped sooner than I did. If you need this course try and get it with anyone but Zulli.
Just take this in person with prof. Gupta PLEASE she is so much better. Ridiculous amounts of homework for a class that isn't major related. One of the worst classes I've taken at FIT and I'm a straight A student.
I'm a straight-A student and I am not sure if I will pass the class. I put in extreme effort and time into every assignment to receive 60s and passive-aggressive comments. When I ask what I could do better she is extremely rude and unhelpful. This is going to be the only class that drops my GPA and it was just to fill a gen ed requirement.
I'm a straight A student w/ 3 minors & never had such a bad prof. Asked for help and got major attitude. Literally worst prof i've ever had to take. Reading hw+quiz due each tuesday+ discussion posts. Long midterm and final essays which took hours out of my life. I have never had such a bad experience in school with a professor; she gives a quiz every week, each 10 minutes long, no redos, and she will not email you to tell you you are failing. she grades very late. She gives an insane number of readings. I will say she knows her stuff, but we are not English majors, so no need for all this hoopla. bleeeh
Grading was unclear, feedback was rare, and major assignments were left ungraded until the end. She's unapproachable, disorganized, and doesn't support her students. Felt like I was set up to fail despite putting in effort. Would not recommend if you care about learning or your GPA.
DO not take this professor! Avoid at all cost. Had her for online Short Fiction and I regret it so much. This class was more stressful than my major classes. You're expected to read around 3 short fictions, do short response quiz, 3 discussion essays and respond to your peer's discussion posts every single week. Her expectations r too high.
Just like don't do it to yourself.
WORST and I mean WORST teacher I've ever had in my entire academic career. Don't even bother reaching out to ask for help, she will tell you to look at the syllabus. Doesn't care about her students, waits until the last week to grade. So many readings/lectures, and if she doesn't like your responses, you get a D. Save yourself, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
very unkind lady, has an extreme amount of work and expects you to read 3 stories and take a quiz after a day of being opened yet she hasn't graded anything since September so student have no gauge on their grades, Very unorganized instructions for assignments and overall very sad especially if you have a major with a heavy workload.
