simple go to class
great guy, hilarious, just go to class!
Great teacher, good sense of humor, just go to class
Easy teacher, Easy Exams, Will give u an A if u have an 85 as long as you attend
funny man, nice, pretty easy, just go to class
awesome teacher. easy tests. no attendence policy, but go to class
nice, easy
Homework not graded. Learn how to tune out his ramblings. Funny, nice old guy.
nice guy. go to class.
Easy, fun, caring student
Rambles on about funny useless info. Easy Class, No attendance policy, drops lowest test grade. Odd, but funny.
Is a great teacher. He is always available for out of class time. A really nice guy, and overall wants every student to do well if they show that they care. Would def. recommend him for math classes.
Another Towson prof with a warped sense of humor, but overall a great guy and teacher. Get all a's on the first four tests and don't go in for the fifth. he drops the lowest of five.
I thought he was very easy, but you kinda have to understand math. Go to class he gets to know everyone, and says something to you in front of the whole class if you miss one day. Likes to make lame jokes, but overall very nice man.
easy class... alittle boring.i got a B without paying attention at all. attendence doesnt matter
very easy teacher and class. teacher a little looney, with a strange sense of humor, but very smart. attendance does not matter, easy A
very easy class, will explain things until everyone understands so if you get it right away it can get boring but a nice guy, i would definatly take him again!!
SUCH a nice man. he's funny, tells jokes, always lets us out early. he's one of those teachers you can't help but love.
Simply adorable. But more than that - he's a fantastic teacher.
nice man, 4 test, 5 quizes, funny really cares about his students. very smart. i enjoyed his class
AMAZING, one of a kind teacher. Funny, Caring, Nice, and Smart make this teacher one of the best at Towson Univ. I'd definitely take him again. Thank you Mr. Cohen!!!!!!!!

he's a great teacher that helps his students out a lot he will sit with you and make everything seem so simple and if you ever have any questions dont hesitate to ask because he's more than willing to help you. he has a great sense of humor and rambles on but is VERY intelligent! :)
Math has always been hard for me but this class is so easy. This guy is crazy. He tells some strange stories and rambles on but he's a nice guy. He tells the most unrelated facts in the middle of class, its funny. I really like him a lot. Tests aren't hard if you go to class and take notes.
Professor Cohen is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He makes everything so clear. He will work with you until you understand and will take time out of his day to help you with anything! If you get a chance definately take math with him!
So impressed with him. He has to be one of the smartest men I've met. You don't meet very many Math professors who can incorporate poetry and memorizing the entire dictionary! Such a fun man, great Math teacher (I'M TERRIBLE AT MATH!!) and hope to see him again in the future. Take him!
Great teacher! Very easy, very smart and his tests are very very easy. 4 tests, no final, he always hands the tests back. Class is an easy A. Usually lets you out early and only lectures for half of the class. He tells a lot of random, boring stories but such a great teacher! Take him!!!!
definitely a great teacher! tells a lot of boring stories/facts, but he's pretty funny too. only 4 tests, no final. curves (10 points on my last test) take him!
Nice man, and a pretty good teacher. Only a couple of tests that are pretty easy. Two pop quizzes, but he always tells u when they are haha! Not a bad math class.
I am an idiot when it comes to math, and he helps you a lot!! If you put forth the effort, he will not let you fail. Great guy and very smart. PS. he doesnt really hear too well, be patient.
Such a nice man. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. definitely take him!
He is a really nice teacher but not that clear with notes. The tests and quizzes are not that hard. I recommend this class and to take it w/ him.
I liked him. Although he has trouble hearing sometimes, he still knows his math. He teaches it alot without a calculator, i guess he just likes the old way better. He is pretty nice and is willing to help you when needed. I recommend taking him. 3 tests, 2 pop quizzes, which he pretty much announces anyways, and aren't hard. Overall I liked him.
if you have a basic understanding of math then you will do amazing in this class. professor cohen is amazing and does anythign he can to help you if you need it. There are four test and two not really "pop" quizes. no final TAKE THIS CLASS TAKE anything with this professor he's great
Such a sweet, cute old guy. He tells a lot of suprisingly relevant jokes, and tells us about a lot more than just math. Incredibly fun teacher, ignore anyone who says anything bad, he's just an angel!
a very nice old guy, that is very easy to get along with. class is the easist you could ever take especially for a math class. hes interesting and funny and i defenitely recommend you take this class.
i love this old man! hes so nice and teaches very well even though everything he teaches is so easy. he gives a good review for all tests that are exactly whats on it...only 4 tests no final, always tells funny stories, hes just so cute! but he cant hear very well haha take this class...youll get an A
Really nice guy. Goes out of his way to make sure you pass. Has slight hearing problem, and will explain how to solve ONE problem for 30 minutes. You must have patience to be in this class.
Extremely sweet professor. However, you need to speak loud and clearly. He tends to get off of topic sometimes, but encourage him to stay on the problems. Interesting class.
He is an easy teacher. On two out of our four exams he let us use our notes! He goes off topic a lot. Cant say I loved this class, however its pretty easy- take him.
i am awful at math and did pretty darn well in his class. Its kind of annoying when he can't hear you, but be patient... Only four tests and one quiz. You drop the lowest test grade and the "quiz" is basically extra credit, it can only help you not hurt you. i hear he is the easiest math 115 teacher... take him
I highly reccomend this teacher. I do not like math usually and I am not that great at it either. His tests were easy and he teaches the material in class thoroughly. He also gives an extra credit quiz and will go out of his way to help you if needed. TAKE HIM!!
One of the top professors out there. The following professors make towson tolerable: Vatz, Goins, Hoopes, Cohen and Coach Albert!
Deaf, boring, and easy.
Very good teacher, best math teacher out there. I did not understand a few things, like always happens with me in math, so he sat down and explained it and now I do. Highly, Highly reccomended. Professor Cohen helped very much.
He's really nice. As long as you copy the notes that he gives and do the homework you you'll be fine. The class can be boring but he likes to right in the middle of class to suddenly give a vocab lesson- it's kind of funny. :)
I looove this man so much. He is the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. So what if he rambles, at least you aren't doing math:) I definitely recommend him, he's a good teacher and a really caring guy. He's always available if you need help, etc. Take him!
He will never fail anyone even if you are a complete idiot at math. So if you suck at math like me and need to fill a requirement take his boring class
He is great! If you hate math like I do, then you will enjoy a class where you do maybe 3 problems a night(not b/c they are hard, but b/c he goes on tangents) you can always use a note sheet on tests and he is always willing to find a way to make u succeed. Go J. Cohen!!!!!
Great guy! Definitely adds in a lot of random facts you don't really care about in class, but whatever -It could be a lot worse. The tests are not too bad and he's definitely fair. Always there to help you out with questions and concerns. I stay away from math as much as possible, but was still able to pull a good grade in his class. Take him!
Nice old guy but he talks way too much. He diverts away from the material which is bad for someone who isnt good in math. his hearing is a little bad so you may have to repeat some things. you can pass but just make sure you ask him to clarify things for you before you take a test
He is the best math teacher ever.... he makes the subject like math so much fun....i totally suck at math and was able to get a good grade in his classs....so take him you wont regret at all.
What an awesome guy! He is so nice and gets to know his students as actual people. He is like the typical grandpa. He is an awesome teacher and gets really sidetracked, so sometimes you think ok ok...lets get to the point, but honestly, if you have to take this course, take him!
really nice man, esp nice to the girls. always willing to help. class is easy and review sheets for the test are handed out. the test is exactly the review sheet with changed numbers. u should take him if you want an a
i looooved him!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this professor. He's a nice man, and knows the material. He teaches well, and his tests are pretty simple. He is direct and very kind. I recommend him highly!
Nicest guy ever. Probably the easiest math teacher at Towson, in my precal class he curved every test like 10 points. People get annoyed because he rambles and sometimes moves ridiculously slowly, but he is a really good teacher, he loves teaching and takes interest in his students, which is rare
amazing!! I love Cohen! Definitely my favorite teacher of all time! hes hilarious. he tends to go off topic a lot but that just makes it more fun. hes helpful and the material is pretty easy. TAKE THIS TEACHER!
I had this professor last semester for MATH 204. He's so passionate about math, and very clear in his teachings. Sometimes he goes off track and rambles, but he is very good! His tests are simple, only 4 in a semester, and they calculate your grade so do go to class and pay good attention. Very kind and flexible. Take him!
Professor Cohen in seriously the nicest teacher I have ever met. Will help you with anything. He acts like your grandpa. Bring a megaphone to class though because he can't hear anything. I have always been terrible at math and he made it interesting. Got a A in 204 and a B in 205
jerome is awesome we had him for level two and he got us bagels every morning since it was an 8am class and took us to steak and ale for dinner one night. he gave all these assignments in the beginning and then changed them all. we watched movies and did brain teasers thats about it. LOVED IT
What a nice guy! I hate math and he is a little hard to understand because he tends to get off track. If you're good at math you'll do great, few assignments and tests. Available for help and he loves to talk, and its worth listening too: unless you're a jerk! Sweet guy!
best math teacher i have had! made math not so bad. funny and actually cares about his students!
He is very hard of hearing and has to ask you multiple times what you said. He has to go over every single problem because he thinks everything is interesting even if it is easy. He is more interested in big words and their definitions than math. The only redeeming thing is easy tests.
He is not my favorite teacher. He is very bright but can't teach what he knows. He rambles on about irrelevant topics. It is a easy class but extremely boring.
His class was long because he would talk so much about things that weren't related to math at all. He is a nice guy but can't hear well and he doesn't always answer questions clearly. I did okay in his class, but his tests were harder than I expected. I wouldn't recommend him ,but he wasn't bad.
I'm doing okay in his class but I really like him, he goes very slow which makes it easier to understand what he is teaching. He is defiantly one of my favorite math teachers I had and i would recommend him!! He is also a great guy and cares about his students very much and will learn your name within the first few weeks.
I hate math, and this is an easy subject, but sometimes I was still confused. He is a funny man with an insane memory and is excellent with math. Go to class, do the review sheets, and you should do ok on the tests.
MEMORY OF AN ELEPHANT!!!! He is always saying the most random stuff. His memory sux though, so make sure you speak up. I HIGHLY recommend this teacher. He has plenty of experience in the field. Im an eced major, and a teacher i work with (age 52) said she had him as a teacher when she went to towson!! Definitly take him!!
The class itself is pretty easy. Professor Cohen shows you what you need to do in order to do well on his tests (which are very straightforward). He is fair in his grading. He does say some random trivial stuff though. He also does not seem to hear too well. Take note - the class is extremely slow moving for those education majors that may struggle
my favorite teacher at towson of all time. he loves teaching and he likes student who want to learn. go to class and particpate and you will get an a. great teacher
Extremely intelligent, kind, and fair. One of the few teachers I've had that really cares to get to know all of his students and wants EVERYONE to do well. You will always know what is expected of you for tests and he doesn't give too much homework. He can move pretty slowly at times, but is very thorough and not confusing. I definitely recommend!
I loved Professor Cohen! He's such a cute old man. VERY old school and VERY intelligent. His teaching can get confusing at times but he will help you if you need it. I'd advise taking his class. I'm horrible at math but I'm understanding and doing well in his class. TAKE HIM!
I love Professor Cohen! He's such a cute old man. VERY old school and VERY intelligent. Will go off on tangents but it keeps the class entertaining. I'm horrible at math but I'm understanding and doing well in his class. If you need a Math, take him!
Mr. Cohen is the sweetest little man. He really wants everyone to succeed, and has never given a grade lower than a C, and never intends to. He's more than willing to accommodate anyone that needs help- TAKE HIM!! Don't buy book- we used it ONCE!!
He's really nice. Sometimes is hard to understand, but hey, he's old. Rarely gives more than 5 homework problems. Somewhat disorganized in his lecturing, but not bad. REEEALLLY hard of hearing, we sat in the back and often had to call his name 5 times before he'd respond. great teacher though, definitely take him if you get the chance.
He's the funniest professor for real. He really cool to talk to and he can't hear to good but its ok. I definitely recommend him. Easy A definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fortunately for the rater below me, Professor Cohen grades math, and not grammar. I also had Cohen for 204, and again he was quite easy in my opinion. Some people struggled immensely in his class, but he was more than willing to spend additional time (even after class) explaining mathematical concepts. He is hard of hearing and does go off topic.
Nice guy and funny, but unfortunately he was no help to me and was very difficult to understand the math concepts for a summer class.
He was not a good teacher at all. I could never understand him and he never made sense. He is a genius but can't explain it to others well. He was caring and never gave anyone a grade lower than a C. He also went off topic all the time. He wastes the hour and fifty class when you could have gotten out earlier.
He is a great teacher and makes the class interesting and always there to help. His class is easy and you dont recieve much homework but you still learn a lot. I learned many things that i was not taught in high school.
Love him! He is such a sweet old man. Doesn't explain topics very well but is willing to go over them if you don't understand. Barely get any homework and attendance isn't mandatory. Tests are a little hard, but he gives study guides that are exactly like the test so if you do those you should be okay. Take him!
Easy class because the material is so simple. He goes off on long tangents about poetry and origins of random words and it gets frustrating when you're bored in a two hour class but its not awful. Sometimes gets confused when students ask for extra explanations but eventually gets it. Very easy class
This class is so simple. He gives study guides that are exactly like the tests. He cant hear well so he explains the wrong thing sometimes. He also get off topic. This class is too long to listen to him ramble on about dumb stuff. Most of the time we only did 3 easy problems in a 1 hr and 50 min class. Would not recommend.
Professor Cohen is great. He really cares about his students and all, and even though I am not a math person, makes it seem interesting and good. Someone I can relate to and connect to as a teacher. I would highly recommend taking him, and make sure to get to know him-- he loves his students and really is helpful-- for other math classes as well!
Prof Cohen is a sweet old man! He is always willing to help or go over any questions you might have. The subject matter is very basic and most students have probably already learned it in the past, so the class is a little slow, but atleast it is easy! And he hardly ever gives homework or uses the text. TAKE HIM! I plan to again if I can :)
Professor Cohen is one of the smartest teachers at Towson. Sure, he goes through the material very slowly, but this also means you understand EVERYTHING he presents. He is an awesome old guy that has great memories of the past. He does go off on random tangents, but it makes the class a little more interesting. One of my favorite teachers at TU.
I loved him! He goes over all of the material very slowly, so it's hard to not do well by the time you take the exams. He is a very sweet old man and wants all of his students to do well. I wish I could take him for all of my classes!
I LOVE Professor Cohen! He is such a sweet, old man and he really gets to know his students. He takes a lot of time teaching the material and he prepares you throughly for the tests. I wish he was my professor for every class. I'm not a math person, but he made math enjoyable. GREAT PROFESSOR.
Such a great teacher, really cares about his students! Always willing to help! Definitely recommend him!!!
Sweet and caring professor. When we had subs, it made me realize what a good math professor I had. Teaches thouroughly. Gives study guides for tests.
Really nice guy, a little hard of hearing at times. Goes over everything thouroghly ,study guide for test, but made test extremely harder than they needed to be, sometimes study guide wasnt enough
Professor Cohen is a sweet, sometimes senile but very wise man. He's a little hard of hearing. But he is a great teacher that will make sure you pass and laugh. He provides study guides and worksheets. Easy A.
HE IS A WONDERFUL TEACHER!!! after having a really crappy pre-cal teacher my first semester I took it again with prof. Cohen and I actually LIKE this class now. TAKE PRE-CAL WITH HIM! you won't regret it! he is sooooo helpful and sweet and very witty as well. :) he hardly uses the text book and rarely assigns homework.
He is a sweet old man. He is crystal clear with the concepts, because he probably taught JC himself... and his hearing is not exactly intact. But, take him if you can :).
Hes a sweet man, but gets off topic way to easy. He ends up talking about another subject like history more then he talks about math, but he thoroughly explains what your needed to know. He is fair with his grading and tries to help you. He only gives out a few quizzes, and very little homework, which is pretty easy anyway.
Take him! In high school I did poorly in precalc, but he made all concepts easy and gives reviews before exams which are just like the exams. He understands most students are taking math because they have to, therefore he is an easy grader. He tells cheesey jokes and repeats himself a lot, but very nice man! I highly recommend!
He's one of the cutest old men I've ever seen with his little sweater vests and such. The only problem is that he has NO idea what you're saying. Ever.
Absolutely the nicest man you'll ever meet, but I'm not 100% sure that I actually learned mathematics in this class. If you are looking to knock out a math credit, this is a perfect class for you. However, I took this class to prepare for calculus and I learned a lot more about etymology and theater than I did about math.
Professor Cohen is a wonderful teacher. I went into this class having almost no knowledge of math at all, and learned so much. He helped me with personal office hours and the like. Take Professor Cohen if you want to learn and have a Professor that really cares.
If your bad at math this is your man, lowest grade he will ever give is a C he says so. Talks about random things all class but worth it for the grade and credits. Great old man!!
Wonderful professor! Interesting guy with a great sense of humor that keeps class alert. Made math concepts I've always found difficult extremely easy and understandable. He was more than willing to set up out of class time to meet with me as well. Overall one of the best professors I've had at Towson. period.
He's a very sweet old man, but he doesn't listen to the questions that people ask because he will answer basically a whole different question and go off topic. He also gets sidtracked and takes a long time to do simple problems, but the class is easy. Take for a easy A!
love pro cohen, but he wont answer your questions and you will learn everything but math and it will come back to hut you!
He is so easy! you pretty much have to try and fail the class. he gives you so much extra credit, and even allows for you to re-take your tests if you do poorly. I highly recommend him for 119, one of the easiest professors i have had.
Easy A. He is so funny and sweet. If you have basic algebra 1&2 knowledge your good to go.
In calculus right now and deeply regretting taking this professor for pre-calculus. Easy class, but if you're looking to move forward in mathematics I would strongly advise against this professor.
Very nice teacher. I'm pretty sure I'll get an A. I find the class very easy only because I told Pre Calc in high school. He does stray from the topic easy. Nice man, maybe not the best teacher. I would not recommend if you have to take a higher level of math later.
I learned nothing from this guy. My entire class struggled with his exams but we all ended up passing with a C. He didn't fail anyone.
very sweet old man. can be a little unclear with he lectures and tends to go off topics... i went in for math tutoring after class for a hour or so to clear up the lectures and that was fine for me. Tutoring really helped me. but he is a very sweet guy. if you really understand math this is a class for you!
Super easy A. There are three tests plus the final as your grade for the class. Homework is extra points and attendance is not mandatory. However if you struggle with math, he does not answer questions very clearly.
Cohen really is a sweet old man. overall an easy a, attendance isn't mandatory and homework is extra credit. not a bad class if you know your stuff but he often goes off topic and doesn't answer questions directly. in my opinion he may just be a little too old to be teaching, avoid him if you can.
Do not take him if you have another option. He takes 50 minutes to complete one problem, he does not answer questions, and he is always rambling.
Do not take him if possible. Does not answer questions. Strays off topic every day. On average one problem is completed a class.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He doesn't answer questions, he takes an entire class to finish one problem, and his tests do not correspond with the material in class or on the study guides. He acts disappointed when you get something wrong, and then thinks it's your fault when it's his for NOT TEACHING.
I loved professor Cohen. He was the only one out of three, yes, three math 119 teachers that actually helped me learn the material. He wrote me a couple recommendations and I would take any other math class with him. I don't understand how you could dislike him!?!? If you go to his office hours it will make a world of a difference.
Do not take. he is nice and he does give extra credit hw but he talks too much and goes off on tangents like 34th of the class time. Takes too long to do problems
It would take all class to do one problem. He is very sweet, but very old and slow. He doesn't know how to use a calculator. Gets off topic a lot. It's an easy class if you're naturally good at math. He didn't teach half the things on the final. If you're good at math, easy to skip
Prof Cohen is a sweet old man who likes to see his students do well. However, with that being said, it is time for him to retire. To say he can barley hear is an understatement. Even when students in the first row would ask him questions he would not hear them clearly. You basically have to teach yourself from the textbook if you want to do well.
Prof Cohen is old and has trouble hearing, but he does know what he's doing when it comes to math. If you struggle with math I would pick another professor but if you know what you're doing it's an easy A. Review sheets are exactly like the tests but he won't really negotiate if he takes off points for something. HW is in the textbook
Prof. Cohen is a nice guy, but he's over the hill. He's hard of hearing; several times he would ask the same question repeatedly even though people were almost shouting the answer at him. He often makes mistakes copying down his examples, and takes the entire class period to do a single problem.
I'm not particularly great at math, and although Professor Cohen is older and can sometimes go off on tangents, he's very willing to help during office hours and even other times. He's more clear and helpful in those times, and saved me from dropping the course. He respects the students that actually show up as well.
He is honestly one of the best professors I have had. He is hard of hearing and tends to go off on tangents, but he ultimately does the job. Do the homeworks, show up, and actually try to learn. He gives a lot of extra credit so it will help with your grade. The class is not hard overall. He is such a sweetie! talk to him and try to get to know him
Prof Cohen is hard of hearing and goes off on many random rants, but other than that he's a great professor. He will always give you heads up when there is a test and he knows how to prepare you for exams. This is overall an extremely easy class, so you should get an A.
