Good teacher, you learn alot, but must work for your grade. Got a C+ in his class, and then got an A in English 122. His class teaches you how to write good papers. .

He is a very nice and funny person. at first he is very hard but a time he knows you he is the best professor. he tries to make the class interesting and to teaches you things that really will help you.

Great prof with a funny, offbeat teaching style that makes a required class very interesting. Not an "easy prof" but he's friendly, helpful, and genuinely wants you to do well. Unlike many night class profs, when he teaches night classes he never acts like he just wants to run outta there early.

Wow, too bad he's remarried. He's the one regret I had when I left MCC...never seeing him again. Very thorough, interesting, and intriguing. Awesome prof!

Awesome teacher! Always gives as much help as he can if you ask for it. Very straightforward and has a good sense of humor. As long as you're not a complete idiot and can follow simple directions you'll be fine in his classes.

Really great professor. He truly cares about his students and is willing to go the extra mile to help. Gives constructive criticism so be prepared to take it!! This is what I loved most about him-I REALLY learned to be a better writer!

He an excellent teacher, if you are willing to be an excellent learner. He lets you know what he's looking for, so if you don't get the grade it's your own fault for not following directions.

I learned so much in his class. He prepared me for writing in college. Not an easy task because I had not written anything but a grocery list for 20 years. Thanks to prof. Olson I have received A's on all of my papers and I am graduating in May 2006.

Take this class if you want to experience a class where you get what put into it. This is the only class where I got graded for my effort. If you put in the time you get the grade you deserve.

Fair and meets your own willingness to do better.Gives you enough rope to hang yourself so, be aware. If you just want to slide by he's not for you.If you want to learn writing skills he will help.I learned how to write better in his class!

Took this class before with another prof and didn't pass. Passed this time with no problem. He's OK as long as you do the work and go to class.

Professor Olson is a very good teacher. He grades the class based on effort. He's a very helpful and outgoing teacher. You won't get bored in his class. I reccomend him to anyone who wants to become a better writer because he influenced me for the better. He's great!

Hard but thorough. Learned more this semester than I ever did in English. Lots of work, but he reads it all and is fair and demanding. People need to grow up. This is a real college class.

Learned more in his 121 class than the rest of the people in my 122 class. I'm getting As and Bs because of his 121 class. The work was worth it.

Professor Olson is great. His work is fairly easy and he is always willing to help. He has a great personality and makes jokes constantly. You will learn a lot in this class his exams are fairly easy. Definitely take him!

This professor is RIDICULOUSLY ANAL!Ok, he's a great teacher.he doesn't accept things if they're missing something or if its wrong.sure, that's a good practice and learning process.BUT! I completled an assignment with everything he wanted,i just misunderstood how he wanted it worded.He marks it INCOMPLETE.I did the work. That's just wrong. Carefull

Serious about the work but loves to teach. Class was always interesting but demanded work. As long as you keep up the homework you learn alot. I'd take him again.

Never wrote a poem or a story in my life but still got an A! Take the class if you want to get 3 elective credits. Just do the assignments and come to class. Nothing else. Class was enjoyable.

Third time taking the course, first time I actually learned how to write essays! Class was always helpful and mostly fun.

No bs from this guy and he takes none either. But you learn how to write college essays. Fun classes too. Too bad I didn't have him the first time I took the course cause I would've passed.

He's cool, but his jokes ARE corney im not gonna lie lol, well at least he tries to make the class fun. In his class, I learned how to write an essay for the 1st time. He's a great teacher. He's a little hard, but if you really really pay attention, you'll be fine. I did very well in his class.

Looks like I'm finally gonna pass this class thanks to this prof's teaching. Took it before from other profs who didn't know squat about how to make the info easy to understand. Lots of work but it's worth it.

Learned more in 7 wks than in a whole semester. Demands work but you learn how to write and think. Take him if you want a challenge.

He's a real humble guy. He goes over interesting topics and as long as you read and keep up with the work you'll do fine.

Told us the first day, "Come to class. do the work and get the grade." And he meant it. How about that, a truthful prof. I'd take him again.

Creative Writing was easy as long as you did the work. He lets you work at your own pace and rewards effort. Doesn't play favorites.

Prof. Olson is one tough cookie yes. But if you are heading into an English field,especially teaching,you will be utterly grateful for what you've learned. His is witty, poignant, and intelligent. You can learn a great deal if you aren't so narrow minded.

Don't know what all the negativity is about. Only people who don't do the work and don't learn don't like him. My friends and I have learned more this semester than we did before. Take him to learn, but expect to work.

Never liked literature until I took his Short Fiction class. He helps you understand the stories and expands your mind at the same time. Only 3 tests and 1 paper. Great elective course.

Took him for the course based on a friend's recommendation. He told me that you get what you put into the course and that you learn if you want. I did. Take him for a class that treats you like an adult as long as you act like one.

I think he does a good job of teaching the material. But you have to keep up with the work cause he assigns lots of papers. He grades everything so watch out. You learn a lot from him but you're tired at the end.

It was a very hard class and really lets you know that this is college now! However I found it to be a very interesting class and Professor Olson taught me how to write a college paper. Even though I finished with only a B after HOURS of hard work, it was the best grade I've gotten in college because it was the hardest earned.

Keeps it interesting, teaches you everything. I would take him for another course.

I loved this professor!! I had him for English 121 & 122.. once you get used to how he gardes, the class is easy. If you put the effort in & take what he says into consideration, you'll deffinitely get a good grade.

i was in professor oleson's eng 121 class. he bases all of his class around taking a skeptics stance. the class was very interesting and i learned alot. he is a good teacher and a recommend to take him. just show up and write all the essays and you will do fine

I honestly didn't like him. He really doesn't seem to care about students in my opinion. If you have a medical problem which I did during the semester and you need to be out he really doesn't care which really pisses me off. And all he talks about is skeptics so unless your into that don't take the class. I personally wouldn't recommend him.

my view he's a very good and funny professor. READ THE TEXTBOOK and you will understand. Go DURING HIS OFFICE HOURS FOR EXTRA HELP TRUST ME IT HELPS.

Thought he was super hard but then I took English 121 with another prof and now I'm getting A's and B's because I'm using all the stuff he taught me in English 010. Go figure!

Prof. Olson is very convicted in his beliefs. He teaches skepticsm tools to expose conspiracy theories and the like, sprinkled with a little English. Very hard class, I love how he doesn't hand out grades. If you can't spell or are lazy, don't take this class. His subject matter was not fun to write about, but lecture was not bad.

He is a very good teacher. He likes to help but he also want to see your dedication. He's really funny make the class fun just do you work be on time and you will pass the class I recommen him to anyone :)

Like he says, go to class, do the work, get the grade. I did and I learned. Got a good grade too. Others didn't. They got bad grades.

I took prof. Olsen for 010 and 121. When I first met him I wanted to drop the class. I didn't, and I am glad. English isnt my favorite subject but he made it interesting. I can actually write papers now, because of him. But if you wait until the last minute to do the work (like I did) he'll know, and he will point it out. Very good teacher!

Just want to defend Prof Olson's honor for a moment. There was only one section this semester, and only two guys (compared with eight girls) actually showed up for class consistently. Consider that before believing the previous comment. Prof Olson is one of my favorite professors at MCC and teachers in life. Take his class and you won't regret it!

Despite most of the comments, he is not a bad teacher. He does seem to push his ideas on the class, but if you know how to write, you will get a good grade. I get mostly B+s on my papers and I do them the night before. His classes are interesting. Most of my classes turn into debates. He gives you extra credit if you show up to all classes.

Have to agree with the previous comment. Go to class and learn the stuff he covers. I did (I'm also a guy) and now I'm getting an A or B in ENG 122. I got a B+ in his class.

Learned to be skeptical and critical and enjoyed the lectures (and hated some of his jokes). But my writing improved a whole lot. He demands that you learn so don't take him if you want an easy class.

Hard class and you have to keep up with the work in order to get a good grade. I did and will get a B. Don't take this class if you can't do homework. Do Take it if you want to prove you can do college work.

Expect lots of reading and you have to write about everything you read. Doesn't take it easy on the papers but gives you time to finish them.

The guy reads every word you put in the paper, checks every comma. I didn't believe it but he does. Go to office hours for help if you need it. Doesn't grade effort, just the papers. He lets you rewrite the bad ones.

He is a good professor. Does not give too much work,but checks everything on paper. Nothing will pass by him and is pretty tough when it comes to grading papers. But he lets your fix your mistakes.He is not a bad professor, knows what he is going. He makes funny jokes in class too. Class was not boring or difficult to pass. Take Him !!!

VERY tough grader, but explains the essay enough times to clearly understand it. Doesn't give much work. Attendance does count, he gives you extra letter grade at the end of the semester depending on how many classes you attend!! He was very helpful and funny. Overall, I enjoyed his class. His conspiracy topics were very interesting.

Tough grader, notices EVERYTHING but he is very willing to help you if you ask. The whole class is conspiracy theories, paranormal, stuff like that. Attendance not mandatory but he gives you extra credit for coming. Rarely any homework besides the few papers he assigns. I enjoyed his class and would take him again.

I really enjoyed this class. I do agree that his grading system is difficult. However, I should have gotten a B in the class but he gave me an A- because he said he knew I worked hard. He is a good teacher and he's funny. He makes the class interesting and prepares you for future research papers. I got an A in ENG-122.

He is the best professor I've had in my life. He uses skepticism within English and it makes it so much more interesting. He encouraged me on my poetry and guided me in the right direction. I now have 3 published poems and all due to him. Listen to him, and take all of his knowledge in because it is worth it if you put in the effort.

Not going to lie a very hard grader! Will deduct WHOLE letter grade if the work cited is misspelled/not alphabetized! But his topics on the supernatural are quite interesting and although you have a paper every 2 weeks and they're 6-8 pages long... His class really improved my writing skills and made my next English class feel like a piece of cake!

He prepares you the future with his tough grading. He allows you to do most things on your own because you'll have to do that eventually. Not for the feint of heart. Don't take the classes if your very into your religion and hold strong beliefs. I learned what he taught and am fully prepared for the next english class.

Take his advice as far as expectations described in class or feedback on papers turned in. If you do bad, he will allow you to rewrite for a late grade. Attend every class for a hefty extra credit at the end. In my experience he was clear and understanding. I found the subject matter of skepticism and the psychology of beliefs very interesting.

Professor Olson is a good professor overall. He's a tough grader but he knows what he's doing. Just don't repeat the mistakes you made on the previous paper and you will get a better grade on the next. He is very pushy with his skepticism, but he will respect your beliefs. DO NOT take if you're very sensitive when someone talks against your beliefs

Very tough grader, but mostly because he sets a high standard for his class (maybe a bit too high). Anybody saying he only gives a B- is not telling the truth, I finished his class with an A. Maybe not the best class to take alongside other classes because he assigns a lot of work/reading, but follow his instructions as he tells you and you'll pass

Awesome professor. Very funny. He's very understanding when it comes to personal matters. Highly recommend him! The topics are very interesting!

Was a little hesitant at first after I read the comments but I wanted to learn how to write college papers since I'm planning to get my masters degree before I leave college. He didn't disappoint me: I read, I wrote, I learned.

Assigns homework and readings (not long) for EVERY class. Got to be prepared. But it pays off in the papers and the preparation grade at the end of the semester. No text just library articles. Lets you rewrite papers.

Gives lots of classwork and homework, however he teaches you how to handle the work and the homework, he will not assign work he has not already gone over, great professor really could not ask for a better one.

Professor Olson is not an easy professor and may seem to be off-putting most times but he is a great guy and a great instructor. I learned a lot from him and he made the course and the topics we covered very interesting. He expects a lot from his students and is pretty demanding, but you will learn a lot and become a much better writer as a result.

Professor Olson is a great professor. He will teach you to be an incredible writer. His lectures are amusing and the material he teaches is incredibly interesting. He seems to enjoy what he does and makes you enjoy it too. He is an eccentric guy and does not tolerate nonsense so that might be bad for some people, but he is just a great instructor.

JUST DO THE HOMEWORK. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO PASS THE ASSIGNMENTS IS COVERED.

His course separates students from slackers so take him if you want to learn how to write papers for college, don't take him if you don't. Extra help? He gave to me cause I was prepared.

Hes a great professor but very tough grader!

He can be intimidating at first but as long as he sees you put in the work and you actually keep up with the homework, that class is passable. Don't take him if you want an easy grade.

He gives clear instructions on what needs to be done, how it should be done, and when it should be done. The class is completely planned out from the beginning. As long as you read the assignment when told you should be fine in the class. Although you still have to put in a good amount of effort

Professor Olson can come off to be very strict and intimidating at times, but from the first day of class he makes it very clear what he expects from you. The writing assignments are extremely difficult, but he gives you many weeks to finish them and also time in class to work on them. I definitely learned a lot from his class.

He gives clear guidelines for what he expects in class and in the papers you will write in his class. He may come off as unapproachable or arrogant but he's giving you all the resources you'll need for future english courses.

Took Prof. Olson a couple of semesters ago. His course is tough if you are not disciplined. Lays down a foundation which he expects your writing to meet. Although the work is a bit demanding, his guidelines are clear and the content almost always interesting. If you pay attention, he is incredibly engaging, and even comical. Solid professor.

I took Professor Olson for Summer 1. At the beginning of class he goes through the days lesson and tells you what is expected of the work you hand in. If you need help he helps out as much as possible. If your paper is less the a C he gives you the opportunity to fix it and hand in the work the next class day. Do your work,mindtap, attend class!!!!

Prof. Olson is one of the best professors I have ever learned from. If you enjoy English then there is no one better. The material he covers is extremely interesting and engaging. He is always available to review your work and will make you an excellent writer. I am indebted to him for making me the writer I am today and I am very grateful.

Professor Olsen is definitely a hard teacher and grader, but I've learned a lot from his class. He tells you exactly what this class is about and gives you everything you need to pass. It's a matter of if you listen, pay attention, do the work, and show up to class. He's funny and real. Doesn't sugarcoat anything. You get the grade you work for!

make sure you pay attention and don't fall behind in his class or it'll be very difficult to catch up again. he is a tough grader however he won't let you struggle... he's very willing to provide help if you ask for it and grants extensions on papers if needed. he' a pretty good professor but don' expect his class to be an easy A.

Honestly a hard teacher BUT easy as well. His work is well organized and explained. So it's a matter of if you get the work done or not that gets you the grade you deserve. Yeah, my papers weren't that good but looking back, he gave us everything we needed and I wish I can retake it cause I know better. He's really nice and funny too. I liked him.

I really enjoyed this professor. His directions were clear and his choices of assignment topics were interesting. He is a tough grader but very detailed and will no doubt make you a better writer.

Professor Olson is highly intellectual and he has above average expectations. The workload is average but you must apply concepts to do well. Can come off as arrogant at times, but will recognize good performance. Felt like an honors class, take if you like a challenge.

Expect a challenge with Prof. Olson, but the effort is worth it. His lectures are engaging if you stay engaged. For study prep, ChatGPT and unstuckstudy ai were super helpful alongside the textbook. Overall, a rewarding class that improved my writing.
