Class consists of only lecture and every so often an exam. His tests are pretty easy, you just have to memorize the his notes. Which means you need to pay attention in class. Take the class with people you know and share notes.

Great professor. I had him once a week for polisci2. It was a night class, and a 3hr class, which were the only drawbacks. But he is very passionate, and gives very good detailed notes. As long as you take good notes, his tests are just fine, as long as you're thorough with your essay answers. Highly recommended. Wish he taught other subjects.

One of the five best teachers, in Pierce college. Don't buy any text book. Just read his notes. And show up in every session. Pick a seat in first day and never move to another seat. He relates names to the seat. He takes roll upon your desk emptiness!!! ( He never takes roll loudly)

Very good professor. Clear, understanding, helpful. It's a real easy class but it doesn't really compromise the learning because you still get something out of it. He only had us write on two chapters in the book and everything else was based on the lecture. Just relay everything he mentions about a topic into essay form during the tests.

You wouldnt want to take another political science class except for his. He's CLEAR and CONCISE so there's absolutely no room for confusion. Extremely helpful. The exams are essays but there's only three and no homework. Read the book and take VERY good notes.

A good guy, but liberal bias really took away from the class. Easy class, hardly any reading, 3 essay exams, and as long as you take part in discussions and write specific facts in those essays you'll get an A. The class would be much better without his extreme liberalism, but was still manageable.

Professor Gable is one of the best professors on campus. He is clear, concise and gets straight to the point. Although he is left wing, he refuses to discuss his personal beliefs, which I appreciated. You learn in his class, and it is veryy easy! Just take notes and EASY A!

Awesome teacher. He's a lecture-type professor so coming to class and taking notes is a must. Very enthusiastic about what he teaches and his exams are simple. His "liberal bias" may bother some people but if you're a Poli Sci major in California, be ready to get a lot of those types of teachers. Great guy... wish he taught more.

I don't think extreme liberalism means listing the structure of different countries' governments because that's all he said. The only thing close to it was mentioning the conditions of the Iraq war (which was relevant in its context). He's a good professor and knows his stuff. The class is basically lecture, very minimal reading and essay tests.

Gable was the first college prof. I ever had. He was so good he actually made me change my major to Poli Sci, which I graduated in and with onto law school with. A real authentic, intellegent guy - super sincere. Not a blow hard. Incredible brain. Take him by all means.

He's a really good teacher. You don't need the book, just study his notes and you'll do fine on the essay tests. Put a lot of your own opinion in the tests and he'll give you more credit. He's a really good teacher and his class was really interesting.

Amazing teacher. I went from a high school student just taking Poli Sci to forgo Government to taking Poli Sci II the next semester with him. Highly recommended. No work except for three essay tests (2-3 essays an exam), but you need to work to write good essays, and he does grade them. Willing to answer any questions, comments fairly.

One of the best professors i have EVER had. my major is nowhere near political science but professor gable makes it understandable and clear. He'll give you both sides so you can create your own political views and analyze issues correctly. the man is brilliant. take the class even if you dont need it. take it with gable that is

I love professor Gabble he is the man. He has strong morals and wants all his students to do well i wish he was my professor for all my classes because he is so laid back and caring.

He is so clear with his teachings. He pretty much tells you exactly what to write in your notes. If you pay attention in class and read over your notes a couple times before the test you will get atleast a B. He answers any questions you have, and seems to care about your understanding. Attendance is a must or you wont have notes for test

Ok so this is the deal . YOu take notes during lecture , memorize them and get your A's on the tests and in the class. HE is the best . The most boring professor I've ever had. He seems to be very cynical and depressed, and his lectures reflect it. Take it if you want to be bored to death.

he takes attendance. he goes slow so everyone can get it. it's almost impossible not to get a good grade in his class if you attend them. he repeats what he says at least twice and asks if you get it or not. exams are essay-based. very approachable..

Very calm and clear. His lectures can be rather slow but it makes it easy to take notes, which are basically what the exams are based on. Because of his pace, it's easy to understand everything he teaches. Just study your notes and write as much as you can in the exams and you'll get an A.

This is the greatest teacher I have ever had. And Ive had a bunch going to private schools. He is EXTREMELY brilliant and loves his field. Because of him I am pursuing Internation Relations. TAKE HIM if you like politics.

First, don't buy the books. Unless you seriously are too stupid to know the 3 branches of government. Second, easiest class ever. 3 essay tests which are a joke. Honestly, if you can't get an A in this class, consider suicide. I kid you not...you are that stupid if you can't Ace this class. He's just too easy and too nice. Only quarm is no debates.

I'm in love with Mr. Gable. He's an amazing teacher & is so sweet. He's so intelligent and has alot of experience in politics. I had to drop his class because the tests were so hard. Your entire grade is based on 3 huge essay midterms. Every detail has to be remembered and PERFECT. It's nuts! Read almost 200 pages per class & take ipecible notes

Ok, stick with me on this. Overall, he's a good guy. However, he's not for everyone. I dontt think attendance is mandatory, but you need the notes from his lecture if you plan to pass his tests. The tests are all essay. His lectures are very informational, and he encourages interaction, I liked that. A bit boring, but survivable.

Professor Gable is a very intelligent teacher and he makes politics a very fun and interesting subject to learn. As long as you take good notes from his lectures, you will be fine on his exams. REALLY NICE! easy to get an A IF you go to class everyday, seriously...i bombed the final yet he still gave me an A. One of the few profs who genuinely cares about his students. He's very soft spoken, but he is very knowledgeable. Don't buy the book, just take as much notes as you can. For all the exams, basically write everything down from your notes and you'll get an A. I wish PS classes at UCLA were as easy but still fulfilling as taking a class with Gable!

Gable is seriously great. Class is easy, with very little work. You have to come to class to take notes and he has 3 essay tests. He tells you basically what you need to know so just memorize and you will be fine. Did an honors contract with him, it was long but he read it once and gave me complete credit.

This class is by far the best class I've ever taken! I was a psych major but will definitely change my major from psych to polisci. Professor Gable is the most passionate professor I've every seen here at Pierce. He loves what he does an has succeeded in enlightening me in the world of politics. Take this class! You won't be sorry!

I attended Pierce almost 20 years ago and had Mr. Gable for Political Science. The things that I learned in his class are still fresh in my mind today. A more passionate teacher you WILL NOT FIND. My daughter starts Pierce next month and is enrolled in Mr. Gable's class. Jerry Gable is a RARE teacher and one you all will remember fondly.

Really nice and really passionate about his subject. The tests are mostly lecture based and they lectures a bit dry but still very interesting. I would recommend the book if this isn't your subject but it's really only a back up to the lecture.

Absolutely LOVE this teacher, I didn't even go in wanting to take this class but I will be taking PoliSci2 with him in the fall. He is a passionate, funny, and caring guy. Professor Gable cares so much for his students and pours so much passion into his lectures. I learned so much, went in with little care for the class, and came out very caring and full of knowledge. Excellent teacher, he prefers to keep everything subjective he will NEVER force his opinions on you or allow others in the class to do so. He is really passionate about giving the student the facts and letting them make their own opinions. There is no homework and the tests are all written on subjects that just require good knowledge of your notes.

Gives very detailed lectures, if you miss class you'll be missing a lot of useful info that will most likely be on the exam. Really passionate about teaching and cares about you understanding the material. SO sweet and nice. Only 3 exams including the final, if you take detailed notes, you'll get an A in the class.

No surprises in his class when it comes to exams (which is all you'll be graded on). He loves polisci so it makes the class easier to go through. I admit, I got a little bored but he's a really kind, nice, and helpful professor. You don't need the book, you can find all his info on wiki and he even tells you that. I took his Poly Sci 1 in the summer and I got A. 2 essay tests and the final. Just make sure you attend the lectures, take notes, and study hard to answer 2 essays outta 3 in his tests and that is it! He is amazing when he talks politics. He is not bias and he knows what is he talking about which is mandatory. I wish he was our president. take him!

I loved professor gable. I took the 3 hour class once a week and it was not bad at all. He's very clear on what he wants on the tests. The tests are the only thing that your grade will be depended on. Each test there are 4 questions and you need to write and essay on 3 of them. Not that difficult if you study your lecture notes. Prof. Gable is an fantastic teacher. He imparts upon his students a lot of wisdom and valuable knowledge about geopolitics. The lectures are all one has to go off of in his class, so attendance is a must. Some chapters from the book are incorporated into the tests. I put text book as mandatory because it is something that helps but you can pass entirely by listening to the lectures. He will clearly explain everything that he wants on the test to you. Just listen to lecture, take good notes, and study them. That will guarantee an A. The grade is just the average of the 3 tests. Very knowledgeable and kind.

Most of his tests are lecture based, however, a textbook is required for some of it. He gave essay exams only, but nothing came as a surprise. If you are the type of person who will miss class often, definitely don't take him.

I took this class during the summer so it may not be the same experience as anyone taking it during the regular school year but Mr. Gable was a great teacher.
