Jerry is a great instructor. He is very understanding and very clear and thorough in his lectures and exams. Obviously...like any other class your grade will reflect what you put into it and what you are learning, but I think he's really a good instructor
Very clear lectures, fair tests. I learned a lot. Definitely recommend.

Jerry is very fair, and his website is excellent. The material is hard, but he is willing to help his students.
Super nice guy, and I appreciate that he provides more than one way to obtain points. But his lectures are dreadful. He reads them out of a notebook, I think from when he tok A&P at PSU. There is little or no emphasis on clinical application.
LOVED him! Probably my most favorite teacher ever. Many opportunities for points. Very hip and cool guy.
Jerry is wonderful if traditional multiply choice testing is not your strength. A&P is difficult, but he spreads the points out so there is more than one way to get a good grade. Lectures are dull, but worth it when you get the grade. Much softer than other Anatomy teachers. Plays jazz during lab.
I 've been through a lot worse lectures than Jerry's! I actually found his very interesting and full of information. In his class, if you do your assignments, kept up with studies each week, you will do fine! Your grade does reflect what you put into the class (as stated in an early rating).
Jerry thinks he is the best teacher in the world and therefore you fill that much lower than his status. I recommened that you dont take Jerry.
Jerry must of taken jackass 101 when he was in school. After talking to Jerry and listening to him boost him self up, I became annoyed with him. The people that excelled in his class shared in his worldview “geniuses at CC". He puts the info out there but does not help much, and is not consistent in his teaching/ grading style. Jokes are lame.
I didn't have jerry as my instructor for the A&P series, I had Christie, BUT Jerry was one of the professors who headed many of the open labs held during the week. Whenever I had a question for him I would find out later his answer was WRONG, not even off but straight up wrong. When I asked him about a straight forward homework question given by my instructor the answer he gave along with the explanation was completely off. He is a nice guy but has a huge ego and needs to tone it down a bit, not for
DO NOT take a single class from him! I tried so hard to appreciate him, but after not doing very well in 232, I have realized (and have been advised) that I have to take 233 from another teacher. These classes are hard enough without Jerry getting involved.
Well, I hate to admit it, but Jerry just is not that great of a teacher. He is not clear and his tests are a mess. I studied my ass off and just could not ace his tests. His assignments are pretty easy, but they can take time away from studying for his tests. I do not reccomend him.
As Uncle Jerry reminds us "I'm not difficult the material is." I think Jerry Fugate is a rockstar of a lecturer, never an off day. A great instructor in general, easy to approach in office hours, great at teaching by analogy or, as a former bicycle mechanic, in reference to machinery. If you do not like to study do not take this subject.
Jerry, quite giving yourself positive ratings! This site is for your students!!! I mean I got A's and B's on my exams as well, but no thanks to Jerry. I had to read and study from the book for claification of the lectures. I'm sorry but great lecturers lecture! They don't read their slide presentation word for word without adding any more insight.
Well, after reading the other comments, i totally disagree. He's a great lecturer, very clear, answers questions well, I really like him. Plus, I have gotten A-B's on all tests and assignments. And, i don't think that I'm a super-genius at all. Like someone else said, you get out what you put in. Take Jerry, he rocks!!
The subject is tough, and Jerry really wants to make sure we know this material. Think about it, we will be dealing with people's bodies, we need to understand them. There are plenty of ways to make points in his class besides the exams, good for poor testers.
Great guy! Very helpful and lit reviews weren't too hard. Includes essay portion on his tests, which can be slightly difficult.
he's chill, i really like the way he interacts with his students (hes not uptight like some other professors here)
bad teacher
This class was the fast-track summer course - I can't recommend the fast-track or the instructor. He is way too full of himself, wants to come off as hip and cool, but can't redeem himself by giving an actual intelligible lecture without his power points and his laser pointer. Challenge your grade. I got a B, then an A - he made a mistake!
I've taken a lot of science classes from a lot of professors at "more prestigious" schools than PCC and I found Jerry to be a blast. He treats you like an adult and expects you to behave like one. He's funny, witty, smart, takes time for people, and is an all around nice guy. I really don't get the people who don't like him. I highly recommend him!
This teacher was one of the best instructors I ever had. You NEED to know the information he is teaching because we deal with people's bodies and lives. This class was great and he really cares about his students.
Great teacher! He expects excellence from his students so don't take him if you are not a great science student. He treats you with respect and really knows his stuff. His tests are very difficult but representative of the lecture. I respect him for not not dumming down the subject . After this class you will really get A and P.
Professor Fugate is a quality professor, if that is what you are looking for. His lectures actually bring humor as well as insight into the room and you get more out of it that just the power points. He may not be the easiest, but unlike some teachers, he has been teaching A&P forever and knows his stuff!
If you want easy DO NOT take jerry. Papers, case studies, and exams with a written short answer section. If you want to learn A&P from someone who knows it inside out, if you want to remember it more than a year after taking it, take his class. I recommend him all the time-but not to lazy people.
very knowledgable. humerous. keeps things moving. doesn't let the stupid people take over.
He talks down to students. He is interested in showing you how much he knows. You'll know the material and he'll word something so it makes no sense and you'll get it wrong. If you study + want a good teacher, avoid Jerry. He fits into the "take the class over and over" model that profits PCC and gets attention, instead of teaching students.
Jerry really knows his stuff. He makes sure the information you are responsible for is applicable to the health care industry and not just extraneous babble that you'll never need. He is accessible and loves to help those students who seek him out. He tests off of his power points and lectures. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Jerry is a knowledgable and all around nice guy. He does not, however, stress hardly any anatomy in his class. He basically breezes over the anatomy and focuses on the physiology of the body. His exams were difficult only because he LOVES the trick questions!
If you want an A for effort (with this level of difficulty), take this class at PSU or with Steinmetz. The majority of the students in class received subpar grades. His quizzes in lab were easy, but the lecture was painfully monotonous. Way too much emphasis on Jerry's trick exam questions that no one could decipher, no matter how much studying!
He is a nice guy but my advice is that if you are trying to study for a test know every inch of the book! His lectures and powerpoints really have nothing to do with what you will find on the test! I would have been better off skipping lecture and staying home memorizing the book!
Jerry changed the way I look at science, and my approach to studying. Yes he's hard, yes some of his test questions really challenge you to think and show you understand the material, and yeah you need to study your ass off. Way cool, very personable. Want an easy A? Don't take Jerry, and please don't go into healthcare if you want easy science!
He is a hard teacher. Lecture notes are pointless, you need to go through each chapter and take your own notes. His study guides are somewhat helpful, but dont think that's whats going to be on the tests! I ended up not using my guide for the last 2 tests..and I did better! Study the chapters from beginning to end. and UNDERSTAND the material
Jerry has been very helpful throughout this class! I do agree with some of the postings that is lectures can be very tedious; however, that is probably more to do with me than him! I had Jonathon Christie first quarter an Jerry 2nd quarter---if you have a choice both are good, but Jonathan has an amazing teaching style! I love it!
I had jerry for all three A&P's. He is a great teacher and very interesting. He is also very helpful outside of class. I left this class actually knowing the material. With that said, he's not easy. You have to put effort into this class to do well. But it's more than worth it. I strongly recomend him.
Jerry is a good teacher and REALLY goes out of his way to help his students.BUT his tests are quite hard and can be a bit confusing. He would do better by separating the lab material (anatomy) from lecture(physiology). It would allow him more time in lecture to get into the important concept that are what are on the test.
If you enjoy having the text charts read to you with a laser pointer, you will love Jerry-
Took him for 231, 232, and 233. Exams are hard, but gives you ample opportunity to bring up your grade with lit. reviews Very fair grader.
Jerry makes himself available to students and loves question, unless you are trying to suss out what is going to be on the test. He includes tons of info in his lectures. Some conceptualizing but you will need to learn most of the concepts yourself to really understand A & P. Jerry's great but you will work very hard for an A.
Jerry's class is very hard to get an A in. You need to devote more time than I would like to it, but study guides are available that help for very difficult tests. All other aspects of class are easy but can be tedious. Tests from lecture, power points, and book. Record the class if you can. Super great guy. I had lots of fun and learned a lot.
I had Jerry for A&P 1 and will definitely be switching. Jerry is a nice guy,but that does not a good teacher make. He gives extra busy work that did not help me understand the material better, seemed inconvenienced when I asked him questions, lab was completely unstructured, directionless.I still did well, mainly because I taught myself!Boo Jerry!
Don't listen to these complainers. He is hard, but clear. Go to class, read the text, then study his lecture slides and go to open lab. If you do, and actually try, you will do fine in this class. Dont ask him questions you can google yourself. He is funny, VERY smart and is willing to help you out. YAY for Jerry!!!
I love Jerry! I had him for BI112 and BI231. I REALLY hope he will be teaching 232 winter term so I can be in his class again. His tests are hard but all you need to do is pay attention! he pretty much just tests from slides and lecture. he is always willing to help and is quite funny once you get to know him.
Tough but fair.
He is an excellent teacher. I had Steinmetz for 231 and I thought Jerry's teaching style was way more helpful. He's very clear and organized (especially with his powerpoints). You know exactly what he expects from you which is a major plus. I wish I could take him for 233.
Oh man, I suffered through the first 2 sections of A/P w/Dr. Hayteas and took the 3rd (a total fluke) w/Jerry and instantly appreciated the difference. Can't say Jerry was "easy", he was demanding but F-A-I-R. I'll never forget you JF: I've been an RN several years now, and haven't met a colleague yet that knew about "The Crypts of Lieberkuhn!!!"
Firstly, I got an A, so I'm not just grousing because the mean man gave me a bad grade. Jerry LOVES nuance & minutia. So much so that he often fails to teach fundamental concepts because he's too focused on trivia. Lectures are long-winded & mostly irrelevant. Exams unpredictable. Assigns heaps of time-consuming busy work. Smug. Avoid if possible.
I got an A in the class but found the tests a bit tricky because it was difficult to know exactly what to study (powerpoints vs.textbook. For lab, make sure to study from the lab powerpoints and not just his lab outline. Is generous to give assignment that help you earn full points such as case studies, lit reviews and workbook.Nice Guy overall.
Don't listen to these people complaining. Its Anatomy and Physiology. If it was easy, then everyone would get A's who didn't try. His tests are hard, yes, but he gives other assigments to help you get your grade back up. Advice??? READ the text book PRIOR to class, take notes during class, read chapter again and study his lecture slides!
I had Jerry for 233 and he was more challenging than my last two teachers, but I appreciated that. A&P is not supposed to be a cakewalk. One of the few A&P teachers at PCC who isn't just going through the motions. There is some extra work compared to other teachers, but it helped me feel more engaged. I found his goofiness entertaining.
Lecture only. Jerry is a good instructor, but doesn't quite live up to his reputation in my book. He often gets off topic and has to rush through the end of his lecture due to time. His tests are reasonable, and his grading seems fair. He knows the material very well and answers questions. These "quick questions" are often what drags him off topic.
Talks over your head from day one. Long winded lecture style and frequently gets side tracked and drops little political commentaries. (loves to tell his little melanoma carcinoma survivor story). In lab he is more passionate on what background music selection he chooses. Tends to gravitate to the tables where attractive girls are seated. HACK
Took Jerry for 231 & 232. For those who say the lectures are dry I have to agree it's not an entertaining subject. The curriculum is mandated by the college, Jerry just teaches it. In my opinion he is a very intelligent and fair instructor. You get out of this class what you put into it. If you want an A you will need to earn it.
Jerry was an exceptional teacher! It was always evident he was passionate about helping his student succeed. His personal reflections during lecture helped ease the monotony of the huge amount of material that is crammed in your head during this course. He clearly loves his vocation and strives to help EVERYONE succeed! Exceptional person for sur
I never received anything less than an A in my entire college career...AP232 fixed that. I found that lectures were packed with so much information with no time to digest. We covered the entire lymphatic system start to finish in 2 hours, then the next morning it was all on the final. Most students were bewildered. Study guides were 3 yrs outdated.
I had Jerry for all three AP classes and really enjoyed him as a professor. I worked with 6 different profs through lab and open lab, but I found Jerry to be better or as good as all of them. The class is hard no matter who teaches it, he really knows the material and offers lots of clinical info as you go.
Jerry has been teaching A&P for quite a while. He's got it down. He is helpful answering questions, and will tell you if he doesn't know the answer, which is refreshing when so many others will spout BS. I had him for all three A&P, but for lecture only. He's entertaining, and answer "E" on the scantron questions is usually amusing.
Jerry knows his subject well, and teaches it with enthusiasm, but he likes to try and impress his students by being witty. That translates alright into lectures with a few chuckles and a lot of eye rolls. On tests, it translates into trick questions that catch a confident, prepared student off guard. Good news is that classroom participation and
Jerry uses sparse imagination in his teaching style. While some instructors utilize modern teaching strategies, he relies on bland powerpoints. Outdated study guides that often have little to do with actual exam material are rife with misspellings, while students are required to spell correctly. He really doesn't seem to have his heart in teaching.
Jerry is an amazing instructor. I loved every minute of his class. A&P is hard and if you think that you can do it, he will be the best teacher to take it from. Loved it.
Jerry was very helpful and very fair and not one to nitpick. As long as you understand the material, you will get your answer correct (if its a written answer). You still have to work very hard for a good grade in a 200 level Bio class. I recommend taking this class before noon. Afternoon is harder to focus, esp when its a lecture class.
Jerry is BORING. He reads power points and is mundane. Incredibly hard to stay awake in his class. He doesn't make it interesting at all. I did not succeed in this class and it was mostly my fault because of the difficulty of the class but Jerry sure didn't help since he doesn't exactly "teach". I can read at home.
Jerry seems to show little interest in actually teaching this course. He reads the power points provided by the book and expects you to teach yourself the material outside of class. There is no class involvement, just hours of listening to his monotone speaking.
Teacher is a fair grader and very nice. Not sure if it's the length of a 3 hour lecture, but staying awake is hard. Not sure if it's just his class or all of them, but seems we are tested on a specific subject in lab one week, then we discuss it in lecture a week or more later. Seems like learning from the book is where I get my education
Jerry was a great instructor. He does not curve the class but wants you to really understand the material since it is the basis for the medical field. He will answer any questions you have. He would be excellent at a University or medical college bc the students want to KNOW the material and at PCC seems everyone just wants an A w/o the work.
Jerry is not the easiest instructor but he makes learning easy and fun.He is one of the few instructors left that are really in it for you not them or the money.
He was alright, but I got very frustrated when he did not stick remotely close to the syllabus and ended up not finishing the lecture before the end of the term leaving us responsible for it all. Very hard lab exams and does not actively help during lab time. Often sits at his deck on his computer during lab time.
Cell bio is hard, no matter the teacher. Jerry is a great teacher but, death by power point. He gave us too much information, (he's taught AP teacher for a long time)it was hard to get a question in before he was on to the next item. No in class activities or reinforcement besides hw and lab. He was good in lab also. He sets you up for A&P.
This was a very hard class to stay awake in. There were no class activities and he would just read straight off the power point lectures. The quizzes did not match/help to study for the exams. As for lab, the teacher was not helpful at all. I relied on classmates for help. I heard Jesse is a great Biology teacher, take her instead!
for this being a class that people need as a profession. this teacher was very unprepared in lecture, told us first day our book was of little use, and was very unwilling for questions. i would highly recommend taking someone else.
Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. All he did was make power point presentations with info directly from the book, and then read verbatim. He didn't explain anything in detail or help conceptualize the incredibly difficult and complex subject matter. If you like being treated in a dismissive way, this is the class for you.
Jerry is cheerful, has a passion for the subject matter and wants to share that passion with his students. He rewards creativity and appeals to students more interested in learning than getting a good grade. He also offers hours of personal tutoring in the tutoring hall, if you're able to spare the time out of class.
Attendance not required but if you don't show up don't expect to do well in the class. The COURSE is hard, not Jerry. He's actually a lenient grader. There's A LOT to cover in this class. If you can't handle it, get a sociology degree instead. Talk to Jerry, get to know him, don't be a wastoid and you'll do just fine in this class.
Summer term is hard. Jerry was inconsistent in his grading and the difficulty of his tests. Study guides are disorganized and confusing; he tested us on material never focused on in lecture. I developed good study habits in BI231, worked hard and got an A, but those tools did not serve me in Jerry's class. Ineffective and detached teacher.
Would not recommend. Seemed like a good guy but then would turn surly when asked questions. Powerpoints are the same as the textbook, tests were difficult. I had a great study group for 231 but not 232 and this made all the difference. Expect to learn from the book and your friends, not the prof. No friends? Gonna be rough.
Jerry comes off as a nice enough guy at first, but it seems like he is pretty burned out. He lectures straight from power points with the exact same info as the textbook and offers little/ no guidance or help in lab. He seems annoyed by questions, is condescending and sometimes sleazy. Does not seem to want to help his students succeed.
Jerry was straightforward. Yes, exams are hard, but it forces you to learn the material! The hw was enjoyable, consistent and he seemed to grade fairly. Lab was even better; again consistent weekly quizzes. LOTS of memorization (think about it, there are 206 bones and 600+ muscles.) He moves very quickly through lectures, but all PPs are given!
Jerry seemed like he would be a great teacher at first but when I went in to ask for help to receive an A in the class knowing that this is the only class helping me get into my program, he didn't help me at all. He reads straight from the book Tough class. You have to teach yourself. At times when people ask questions he never knows the answer.
Jerry does follow the textbook with his lectures, but at least you know what material will be covered on exams. Frequent lab quizzes are easy if you put in the effort to learn the material. This is a tough class and he grades fairly - don't expect to pass if you don't study! No future lazy nurses here.
Jerry is a pretty good teacher. Throughout the term, as long as I studied some at home, all the tests were quite easy. He is very helpful and answers questions well. He is rather dry lecturer, however. I caught my mind wandering often during his lectures. Also, there was almost always music during lab, albeit not too distracting
The best A&P teacher at PCC. Fair, clear and very knowledgeable on subject matter. Answered and all of my questions, in addition to giving you hints for what will be on the test for pathways! You can't do better, he is a pleasure and funny. Loved his class! Work hard study a lot and you will do exceedingly well. GOT AN A and WORKED FOR IT!!
This is all about memorization. I wish we had more frequent tests rather than three ENORMOUS exams, but that's how it is. Jerry is straight-forward and fair. The material is difficult and might make you cry. Just don't go crying to him.
Nice and funny teacher, but not very good at focusing on the big picture. Three huge lecture exams, all multiple choice and short answer, will cover tiny details and it's very hard to prepare for them. Trying to memorize everything is impossible, so tests can really sink your grade.
Worthless in lectures, reads straight from powerpoints that he doesn't create. So neither prepares you for what he quizzes/ tests on. Does not respond to emails asking for help. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! Will be the only dent in my 4.0 GPA.
I took Jerry for all three A&P series. He is an excellent instructor. Grading is fair, and straight forward. His lectures can be a little redundant but overall I liked the class and would recommend him.
The Anatomy and Phys. series is of dire importance in the lives of so many. A & P instructors should have a grasp of this importance and teach with passion and commitment. Jerry Fugate goes through the motions and does not set his students up for success with either getting an exemplary grade in his course or success in mastering the material.
terrible
Jerry is an outstanding teacher. He made this difficult class very understandable and also easy to relate to. The bad reviews he has must be from students who didn't put in the effort and didn't study outside of class. A&P series are hard, but Jerry is a great teacher to take them with! I will def take A&P2 with him! Highly recommended!
Jerry was a real GEM to have as a teacher. AP classes are not easy and his comedy and entertaining lectures made it easier. His grading was clear and gave plenty of extra credit. I wish I had taken him for all my Anatomy and physiology classes.
Jerry's a good guy. lectures are a bit of a snooze as he mostly just reads off the powerpoint. His tests a hard and very lecture heavy, but if you study you'll do fine! He's a good teacher, not bad, not amazing, but good.
Do not take jerry for this class. It genuinely seems like he does not care about teaching or The success of students. He literally reads off the lectures. You could do that at home
Jerry is clearly not very passionate about teaching. He just reads off the power points and is very monotone, so unless you have no chance of zoning out do not take his class. Also, his tests were very difficult regardless of how much you studied, his study guides are very vague so it is hard to know what exactly you should be studying.
Its hard to take anything from his lectures. I have felt like I have just been word vomited at all term. Also, he lectures during the entire lab so you can't actually be hands on when this is what lab is meant for.
Jerry is an excellent teacher. He brings a ton of personality, humor, and showmanship into his lectures which in turn makes learning complicated and complex material more fun and less stressful. It's clear he's an expert on the material. I'm real glad I get to have him for more than one class.
Jerry is a great prof. I took the entire A&P series with him and got good grades in all three classes. He's super chill, organized and communicates well. It's a challenging class REGARDLESS of what prof you take it with but Jerry made my experience great! Pre-labs/quizzes are straight forward but the way he words questions on exams can be tricky.
Whoever said that Jerry reads off the powerpoints has never had a professor that actually just read off the powerpoints. There's really very little homework in this class which gives you time to read the book and really learn the material. He assigns 3 short papers but they are a breeze if you know how to bust out an essay. Jerry really is a GEM.
Jerry just reads of power points. Does not know how to breakdown difficult concepts, tangents out of topic at times. labels lab models poorly. assigns a lot of case studies and literature reviews on top of class work. No extra credit!, tests are heavy on writing but very little time.
Jerry's tests and grading is pretty straight forward and easy. If you pay attention in class! He doesn't do weekly lecture quizzes, but he offers study guides although I feel like they were and weren't much help. He responds really fast and detailed with emails. Lectures can be heavy sometimes he does ramble too much about history more than A&P..
Don't make the mistake of registering with him as I did. Not entirely sure if Jerry really cares for his students as he tends to carry an egoistic trait. Randomly rambles about history which is unrelated to A&P topics. He never tests on the important subjects. Study guides are unrelated to the tests and offer unclear instructions on assignments.
I wish I had taken Jerry for my other A&P classes. There weren't any weekly quizzes or homework assignments , but three manageable papers and two case studies. No discussion posts either! He does tend to occasionally get sidetracked by topics like history or politics rather than A&P during lecture.
He basically reads off the slides the textbook provides for lectures. He is a tough grader on test and quizzes and there will often be things on test that weren't covered in textbook or class.
with his syllubus he already seems like he gives a ton of work.
Honestly would never take this guy again still in his class because i cant take another person due to all of them being booked but he literally just reads off the slides. It is horrific to just stay in the class during lab and lecture. gives no lecture note paper to be aware of what will be on the lecture exams, a study guide is all he givesBORING
Terrible teacher. Prepare to teach yourself. Quiz/exam expectations are VERY unclear and he expects you to know everything without giving you the tools to exceed. Prepare to look up everything yourself because he's not helpful at all. Do yourself a favor and don't take his class.
Jerry Fugate respects and values his students, is a gifted lecturer & supportive teacher. In addition to his masterful teaching, he includes information each week about scientists who've been overlooked historically due to gender and racial biases. I love that he celebrates these scientists--an inspiring, inclusive and brilliant idea. He is a gem!
I love Jerry. He is very nice and helpful when you ask. I will say the class isn't an easy A, but If you study and put in the effort, you'll get far. You do have to get into the grove of his lab, but after the second week, it is easy to catch on.
Terrible teacher. Very unorganized and unhelpful. If you're looking for a class where you teach yourself and not have any support then take his class. He's the worst teacher I've ever had. The good reviews here make me question if people make up good things to avoid having better teacher's spots be taken up for registration because he's that awful.
He makes things harder than it should be and doesn't really help you or teach. There are better teachers out there. Don't take his class if you actually want to learn. If you want to teach yourself and have a teacher who doesn't care about you or your learning then take Jerry.
This teacher clearly doesn't know what he's doing and is extremely unorganized and unhelpful. You're better off taking any other professor from PCC or another school.
This class is hard. I took Jerry for 231 & 232 and I had to study. He is not for everyone, but his lecture heavy teaching style worked for me. You have to do a lot of outside work of reading the text and re-watching the lectures to do well. He is sometimes disorganized and goes off on tangents, but overall if you put in the time you can do well.
This class contains an intimidating amount of info and takes a LOT of commitment, but it's worth it. He has a retro, less collaborative lecture style, but lab balances that out by being fun and hands-on. He also tries really hard to stay modern and respectful in his language and methods. He's so passionate about A&P, it's wild. I learned a lot.
Jerry is great! Very helpful, knowledgeable, and inclusive professor. Lectures are long and heavy but he keeps them interesting. The tests are all fairly easy as well.
Very unorganized and doesn't follow through with his word. He'll set up meetings for you but then not be there when asked. He also is very forgetful and then blames you for it. Exams are toughly graded and he has a temper when you ask for clarification. He's a burnt out teacher that takes it out on his students and it's not helpful for learning
What the person before me shared is very accurate. He's constantly culturally appropriating and doing microaggressions. He asks his students to call him and he refers to himself as "another word for master". Lecture heavy, too much work, not willing to listen to feedback. He is very set in his old ways, would not recommend.
Jerry is good. I definitely learned a lot But very tough exams and lot and Lott!! Of homework, I spend every single day studying for this class to get an A.
This is such a challenging course. It is extremely fast paced. Not much support if any at all. You really want to have all As and an extremely solid understanding of A&P 1&2 before taking his class. Horrible dry rambling lectures. Not interactive at all. Not much homework but be prepared to feel completely blindsided on the exams.
No one in his previous class got an A. Adds an extra 30% of terms to memorize. Exams are multiple choice+written. Expects you to be able to memorize diagrams and the smallest details. Blames students for not doing well but he is a bad teacher. Will not curve at all. 50% of the class failed. Does not care about students and is picky when grading.
While A+P is a really difficult series, Jerry had very clear expectations for what you would and would not be tested on. He is very flexible when you need extensions on coursework and isn't a harsh grader. He provides multiple written assignments throughout the term that help to bump up your grade if you get lower scores on the tests.
Jerry, himself, is a great guy. However, he tends to go on tangents that are unrelated to lecture material. Be prepared to COMPLETELY teach yourself the material. Does not help outside of class hours, will not go out of way to help students understand material. exams worth 75% of grade. most of class withdrew from term, class avg is 60%. good luck
Jerry is a polarizing figure as seen by his rating distribution, but he is a fine teacher. Not the most personable guy in the world, he's "old school" if you know what I mean. However, he is clearly very smart and has the information you need to pass the class. 2 Lab exams and 3 Lecture exams weighted heavily. Weekly lab quiz. Good luck, study lots
Attendance is required for lab not lecture. The lecture was just him reading off the lecture slides and not really beneficial to attend. In lab he reads all the names of muscles/bones from the slides which also doesn't feel beneficial. There's no homework, 3 essays (worth 10pts each if I remember correct) and a gen ed assignment worth 30.
Please don't ever take him, even if he's your last option TAKE SOMEONE ELSE. Lecture is just based on 3 assignments and all based on how you do on the exam, lab is just quizzes and exams. If you like to learn by having someone talk to your for an hour and 50 mins straight with random comments in between then he's the guy for you
Jerry's class takes a lot of work, but it's worthwhile. His lectures can be disorganized, but the hands-on lab balances that out. Unstuckstudy was a big help for studying. If you put in the time, you can do well.
👎👎only read through slideshows
Jerry is a nice guy. However, he is not good at teaching. He reads straight from the slides, rushes through them, and doesn't explain any of the material. He goes on side tangents and gets behind in lecture. I only got a good grade because I taught myself everything outside of class. It is an already hard class, and he makes it almost impossible.
Hes a nice guy and hes really book smart but zero social skills. The class material is scatter brained and his lectures are terrible. Find someone else if you still can.
Taught my lab for BI231 and is the reason why I got a B in the entire class. He is not willing to help and hates being 'bothered' (once told us to help each other when we asked for help, like...?) which sucks because it's the hardest lab in the series. He is also very strict on spelling and asks trick questions on practicals. Take anyone else.
