Great teacher- Very interested in benefit of the students. Very motivational, informational, nice, respectful, and funny; HOWEVER... Unless you have a LOT of time to take this class, DO NOT TAKE IT. It is a TON of work!!!!! Prof is really really great though...

He has good attitude, but too much homework and reading have to do! if you have a lots of time!sure~go ahead!
I don't recommend taking his class
does not explain about what is going on more concerned about sports like that will help in taxes also so full of himself but does not really go over the work
Mr Lockhart is a GREAT TEACHER. He is not easy because he wants his students to learn. Accounting is his business and he is very serious about it. lots of homework, But he is still GREAT. I have learned alot from 201 and still learing in 202 class.
I'll just put it to you this way; I dropped the first class. Very thick Southern drawl makes this accounting class even tougher to comprehend. Doesn't explain the topic before homework is assigned so it will take over 3 hours to do the stuff. Avoid at all costs!
Crazy. Crazy. Crazy! Accounting is hard enough, but this guy expects you to do 3 hours of homework each class and runs so fast through the coursework, you can't even do the homework! Doesn't want to help either. Move far far away from this one!
OMG, this guys is a moron. He mostly just goes over the homework. The rest of the time he spends making rediculous statements. He's also kind of a perv. He made us repeat the phrase "stroke it" before I asked him to stop. He also used a lot of examples that involved him being married to various women in the class. AVOID, esp. if you're female
Extremely knowledgeable! Is helpful in that he relates very dry accounting info with what's going on in the business world today. Yes, he is a "good ol'boy" but for me it fosters trust and the impression that he's down to earth. Not an easy course but I'm learning. For what it's worth, I recommend his courses.
This guy is a ****, and he doesn't know how to teach. For example: 1st, all he care is he can finish the chapter but not us. 2nd, he expect us to do the h/w that he didn't teach at all in class. 3rd, h/w are way too much. I tried to finish it with a partner, we were staying up all night for 10hr didn't sleep and still not able to finish. INSANE!
Had Jerry for both classes. He knows his stuff and you need to study. Get credit for doing your homework. I think that is what school is about.
good teacher. will past if you do your homework and study, however your required to teach yourself by reading the book.
He is a good teacher as long as you pay attention and attend his classes. You have to teach yourself quite a bit but it's not as hard as some may think.
I love this professor because he relates his lessons to everyday business. Not a slacker class but if you do the homework and put in effort you'll be fine. His personal finance class is great also.
Teacher is knowledable ,but go off topic some times. Also, depend on yourself most of all. You must attend class!
He's a cool guy. He made accounting easy.
Makes the class interesting... I took FIDDLER the same exact class the semester before, but Lockhart was 10x better.. Just make sure you study and understand the first 4 chapters..the rest just follows..
Very easy, take home tests
I like prof. Lockhart. This is not a difficult class. He is not a perv. He actually makes the class interesting. I got an A & I HATE accounting. Grade mostly based on hmwrk that he doesn't grade. An easy A class.
I took prof. Lockhart for 201 and 202. I passed with A's in both classes and I hate accounting. Lots of hmwrk, but he doesn't grade it. Just show him you did the work and you get credit. He has some funny stories & relates acct to real world business.
Super easy class but pretty much a waste of time. Some of his stories and advice were also inappropriate. But definitely an easy A.
if you want to be embarrassed on your first day of class come here. he basically told the whole class that I was stupid and would be stupid for the rest of my life just because I said that I knew Accounting would be hard for me. you can't understand him because of his thick southern ghetto accent. HORRIBLE TEACHER with a HORRIBLE ATTITUDE!!!
Intresting professor but not very good at teaching. alot of hmwrk and some of it is assigned even though he did not discuss the chapter. He does not care if you have to miss or step out of clas because he will knick you and you can not make up the points. Lastly, he speeds through the notes. not helpul most of the time. WILL NOT TAKE HIM AGAIN. AVO
Better to take the class online. He goes over very fast and never gives an answer to a question.Seems to be more interested in talking about himself and unrelated topics. Southern accent hard to understand. We stand up and do exercises before class!!
Homework every class but it's important if you want to understand what you are talking about. He has alot of knowledge and life experience with accoutning. He is demanding but fair. If you read the chapters and do the homework there is no reason to not get an A.
Homework is not extremely hard but its not easy in the least. You basically have to teach yourself acc. through text and homework. Prof. didn't explain much just goes over homework. Very nice respectful man with ALOT of knowledge and experience, just doesn't know how to get it across well.
This is not a good teacher. I like him, hes a nice guy, but OMG you pretty much have to teach this course to yourself. I will get an A in the class but that was through a REDICULOUS amount of work. You have to teach yourself the chapters, and then he just goes ober the hw. I will def take another prof for acct 202!
Worst Teacher I have ever had in college. I usually never rate professors but this one is so bad I had.DO NOT TAKE HIM.He never explains anything he just expects you to learn it on your own. Don't do it
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Although I got a high grade in the class, if accounting doesn't come easy to you, you won't learn anything. He barely teaches during class, and expects you to know everything from the reading. THe worst part is that he makes you stand up and do an exercise before class starts. TAKE BOB HANSEN
I am enrolled in the summer course of Acc 202. Do NOT take this class. The homework he assigns is for the chapter he goes over in the NEXT class period, so you're teaching yourself how to do it. He expects you to have the right answers to something he hasn't covered yet.
I can tell you right now, It's not for the lazy. At first he's very abrasive and direct, but over time you get to see how he really is a great teacher with an immense and expansive base of knowledge. If you don't do the homework then dont expect to do well. I highly recommend him if you really want to learn.
he didn't teach me anything except to be scared to show up to class, he teaches by intimidating. I dreaded his class and ended up dropping because i learned nothing. half the class dropped and he made a girl cry in class. Take someone else who will actually teach not make you do the homework then go over it.
Only take this class with a friend if you want to pass. If you don't know anyone be prepared to make some friends first day of class. I had study groups and we would do problems every Thursday for several hours to get everything down.
Do not take him. Trust me. He is not helpful or caring at all! He doesn't seem to care when students have questions and makes them feel stupid for asking. He assigns too much homework, takes 2 days to do it! He expects us to know how to fill out the tax forms when the book doesn't go over it and he doesn't go over it. The class has a D average!
This teacher is very direct the first two weeks of class, but he gives you credit for the work you do and relates real world experience with this course. He really doesn't try to fail anyone even though his is intimidating. His does review his test, so if you study your hw/quizzes you will do well:)
He is a pretty difficult teacher. If you don't comprehend the first 4 chapters, you really won't understand the rest. Homework can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours. On average the homework takes about 2 hours. Overall I think he is a good, difficult teacher that prepares you pretty well in the accounting world.
Horrible and unsupportive. You will be lucky to get a response from any email regarding questions.
Wow. I knew this class was going to be a pretty tough, but I expected a little help from the professor. He doesn't email back AT ALL and then gives you a 0 on a homework assignment that you asked for help on. I tried to get my sister into the class at the beginning and he said it was great if she joined, but he didn't enroll her and did not reply t
o any of her emails. He is probably the worst professor I've had. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
HORRIBLE teacher! he is ridiculously rude to students and makes us feel stupid when we ask questions or if we have anything to say at all. he also doesnt care if students understand the material and doesnt care to help understand. complete waste of money to take the class with him.
THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! If you enjoy being insulted and put down for asking questions take his class. I've never met an instructor so rude and disrespectful to students in my life.
I've had this professor for two classes and I'll have him again for another. He starts off "mean" to weed out the students who don't care or are lazy, but after a few weeks he lays off and eases up. Often lets the class use the book for tests. He's sometimes hard to understand, but not often. He has some funny stories too
Don't take him... like every one said. 1)He is rude 2) He doesn't care or in better words give a sh** 3) Very boring and talks forever.
Excellent teacher. Very knowledgable and helpful. He would help teach us how to study for the various certification exams. Is direct,to the point and then moves on. If you don't understand ask and he's happy to explain. Always smiling.
The class is very easy and helpful!
He's an easy teacher once you get the hang of the material. He is helpful & very knowledgable. He may seem like an a** to some people but he actually knows what he is talking about. I will be talking him for my ACC 202 class this semster. I recommend him if you are actually willing to learn & not goof around. He is the best teacher for ACC 201.
This is an online course. He is constantly changing the syllabus every week (STILL WITH ERRORS), which he quizzed his students on for the first assignment. He takes a long time to reply back to students, and the response is still very vague. He requires Word documents only, but has students download PDF only files. ***I am only a 4 weeks
Took him for 105, 201, 202, and 210B. If you're a student who is lazy like most are, don't bother coming because you won't make it. Very knowledgeable, helpful, good teacher in general.Easy A if you put any effort in at all. Often lets you use the book for tests and always for quizzes. A teacher.
if u show up to class, do hw, do the quizzes, and read the book, no way u can fail...taking this teacher for ACC 201
He is NOT an excellent teacher by any means. You will ultimately be teaching yourself accounting. If you ask him a question, he will make you feel like an idiot. I understand he is very smart in his field, but he is a poor teacher because he doesn't teach. Do the homework, READ THE CHAPTERS, quizzes and tests are open book. You're on your own.
GREAT TEACHER very hard, tons of homework learned so much in his class. I had about 20h hw each week! Only take this class if you want to learn.
Very interesting teacher! He can be blunt, but he is an old guy so no harm done. He is very educated and gives great financial tips! There is quite a bit of homework, but taking his class will prevent you from making silly financial decisions later on in life. Definitely recommend this professor!
I learned a lot about accounting in this class, but only because there's lots of reading and homework problems. The homework is usually very time consuming. He is not very helpful in understanding the information and can be very rude, as if he expects you to know everything. He grades really easy so it's not hard to get an A.
Just do the homework, read the book, study, and show up, u will get a A...taking him for ACC 202
This course was pretty laid back & Professor Lockhart was always helpful and easy going. He responds very quickly when you email him also.
toughest teacher i've had. Countless hours of studying must be invested to earn an A, and LONG nights of homework. But if you do what he says, you'll definitely learn accounting.
Straight forward tax class. Professor Lockhart efficient with questions and grades.
Dr. Lockhart is not an easy A. There is a lot of homework and it's all longhand not excel. Personally, I believe that I learned more by not having a program do the work for me. Most importantly he brings an abundance of experience and in his own words, many businesses fail due to lack of exposure by business owners, which he adds by his experience
He would never respond to emails so I gave up asking questions and did the best I could. Tests were never updated to the current tax year which caused some to get wrong answers due to no fault of their own. This is a teach it yourself format. If you have long hours to spare to do the reading and hw, you can get through it.
MOST DEFINATELY not an easy A. I took this class over the summer because I had all the answers, which is why I got the A. He keeps all versions of his exams. Always make sure you have the right version, he got us on that during the final.. He talks ALOT about his personal life and experiences and gives a bunch of examples. Teach yourself.
He never responds to questions, doesn't grade on a curve, & doesn't update his syllabus. If you want to TEACH YOURSELF, ACC 105 Income Tax Fundamentals, take this class. It is a crime that he gets paid to be a professor with our tuition fees! I am NOT a fan and I am a student that take all of my classes seriously. A student struggling for a C:(
I took 2 class his very professional and helpful just be in the class and do your home work because he take points and on line class as well.
Took his class for summer Acc201, goes off tangent most of the time to talk about personal life and past financial schemes. Rarely do I ever do reviews, but students should know that his way of teaching is quite unclear so do ask a lot of questions. Syllabus is there but his way of grading is ... different. Quizzes are take home, HW is attendance.
Syllabus does not match up with online assignments. Take note! Weekly homework is at least 100 lines long. Plan to do a 1040 every week with multiple added pages, which will take hours and days worth of time. You get one chance for tests, timed 1 minute per question. This is not an easy class if you do not have the time to dedicate to it.
DO NOT FORGET TO USE THE SYLLABUS AS YOUR ASSIGNMENT GUIDE. Pay close attention to the instructions for the comprehensive problems in your homework assignment. You will get an incomplete or a C or D if you refer to the wrong tax table.
Professor Lockhart is very knowledgable. I came in expecting to learn the basics of accounting, and had the benefit of learning much more. He gives great life tips/lessons on the importance accounting has on ones life. All quizzes are handed out prior to test, and the test contains the exact questions from the quizzes. Recommended.
He is very knowledgeable, CPA and former IRS. He can be little bit intimidating at first but dont get scarred. If you come to class and do homework, you will pass the class with an A. The homework is hard it will take you many hours to do, but the quizzes and tests are easy.
Don't take his online class because there will be no communication whatsoever it takes him two weeks to respond if he does and all he'll tell you is to refer to the book or refer to the syllabus that's if you get a response. Homework takes a whole entire day literally. You're pretty much on your own.
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR!! Unless you are familiar with accounting or else you will fail. Professor Lockhart will take about 2 weeks to reply to your email and his response will be definitely not helpful. You're basically on your own! Absolutely NOT recommended.
I took this class online over summer and had the worst experience with him. I would email about specifics that were not covered in the syllabus and literally receive a copy paste of the syllabus as a response. No communication. No useful responses to email. The textbook was my bible. I taught myself through this class, he did nothing for me.
I heard the professor owns a tax firm, which may explain his lack of attention to the course. I hope he runs his firm better than he runs his class. His exams were based on outdated tax rules (we used the 2013 textbook, but the exams were based off of prior years tax codes). He never responds to emails. You'll learn by reading. Do not recommend!
Awful teacher, but easy to pass if you do it right. 1) Get a study group & split up the homework. There is A LOOOOOOT of homework. 2) Don't think too hard about the homework, he gives you full credit whether it's correct or not. 3) All tests are taken DIRECTLY from the quizzes, which he almost always gives you the answers to. Memorize the quizzes.
Granted this is a summer class I took with him, I knew it would be hard but I didn't think this instructor would be so disrespectful on every level. He is arrogant, rude, and useless. And the reason I say useless because he refuses to help, he will tell you to read your book. I dropped the course yesterday. I am very disappointed. .
You would want to take this class if you want to learn the foundation of Accounting 201 and be prepared for 202. He does make you read the chapters prior coming to class and homework should be done before class. Class participation is required in answering his questions about the material. Wasn't an easy A+ but a positive experience!
I took his Individual Tax online class over an 8-week summer semester. I learned a lot, mostly just from reading the book and doing the homework problems at the end of each chapter. I definitely recommend doing it as a full 16 week semester, 12 chapters is a lot to cover in 8 weeks. Didn't interact much with the prof, but the syllabus was clear
Dr. Lockhart is a very knowledgeable guy. If you are new to accounting and trying to learn do not take this class. Homework takes more than a full day to work on, without distractions, and the textbook is all over the place and not very helpful.
Make sure you do your homework because your homework is your attendance. If you don't know what you're doing he'll kinda get mad. He often goes off on tangents because he gets distracted easily. You will never get out early unless you are taking an exam. Good luck!
He gives quizzes after every chapter and then tests every 3-4 chapters which consists of the quizzes copied and pasted into one packet. He started letting us do them together after a while. Not hard but I didn't learn anything.
Professor Lockhart uses an excellent method to teach. You have to read the chapter and do the homework before you go to class. During class he goes over chapter and homework which is like a review. He has quizzes for the chapters which is great since you can test your understanding of the lesson. He is very organized and the syllabus is very clear.
He does not give good feedback. Sometimes yells. You are on your own with learning the material. He will not help you.
Didn't like his class at all. Decided to drop out just because I wanted to take a different professor next semester. This class is all you teaching yourself the material and you have no idea if you are doing it correctly because he doesn't check homework. So if you are doing something wrong you have no idea until the next class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Be aware, he uses the old syllabus and never want to change and if he does, he waits until the last minute to do. He takes forever to respond to emails. He is a mess!! THE WORST TEACHER!!
Very interesting lectures, knows a lot about everything, it is good that we have to do homework on paper, not on the computer, because I think We remember better when we do handwriting.
he went MIA for an entire week and the class had to contact the Accounting Chair Head to find him. he would not respond to emails or phone calls and the class was legitimitely concerned for his well being. turned out, he just wasn't answering. also his homework assignments take 6 hours because of all the different parts
Don't take this professor. He is terrible. Doesn't care enough to explain homework to you or why you got things wrong. He simply told me well that's the answer, sorry you don't agree with it. That is NOT a way to teach. Use a study partner if you want to get through this class. It's a lot of homework.
Do not take this teacher! I repeat do not take this teacher. I will be asking for a refund for this class seeing as I have six legit and unbelivable reasons why. I cant believe how unprofessional and ill prepared this teacher is. Not to mention a waste of a whole semester of my time.
I dropped this class. This class was a night mare, I got only half of my money and felt like a scam. This teacher is does not teach. He's just a title. He says, just do the homework at the end of the book.
Absolutely horrible. Get ready to completely teach yourself. Professor is completely unavailable or interested in your questions, comments, or concerns. He rarely responds in a timely matter and when he does, it always feels like he doesn't read your email and is responding with a template. Don't even bother reaching out. It's a waste of time.
I get why people don't like him but I loved him. He's no-nonsense but it's good because you learn. He gives you the quiz answers and those are the questions that make up the tests. Do the homework and memorize the quiz answers and you should definitely get an A. I got 100% on every single test. Just don't be lazy and you're fine.
The syllablus & module did not have the same # of assigments, quizzes were outdated sometimes and usually responds to emails on mondays. Workload is heavy doing it solo and you mostly rely on the textbook/outside sources for it. Quizzes are based on every 3 chpters and are open for only 2 days. Hope he changes his teaching method bc its not v good.
He is hard on his students but it helps you learn. I sat right up front as I always do, he will call on students to answer questions. He makes you participate but it helps you learn it. Show up to class, do your HW, and review the quiz's for the test and you will pass. Def have to work for your grade. This class went online as it was a covid sem
Stay away. Nice person, but is very confusing to understand. Everything is on paper and his homework is very time consuming. Calls on you every class.
Great professor and very easy class ACC 202 if you take the time to attend. Very friendly. Tons of respect for professor Lockhart.
