Lundblad is the man! He makes one of the hardest ARE class (econometric)interesting. He's very computer savvy, which is very crucial for understanding econometrics. He will help you out to the best be could as long as you approach him. Going to lectures help a lot too because he tests you everything from the class but not so much from the book.
This man is an idiot. His lectures are disorganized and he is very haphazard in his presentation of the material. His notes and lectures use different terms and variable names than the textbook does. He constantly stutters, and the homework/tests are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors so that it is incomprehensible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Lundblad is awesome. He may be a little eccentric, but that's just who he is. He prepares you well for the exams and there are no surprises. He understands the point of the class and that most people are not too excited to be in it, so he makes it super interesting. Just go to lecture and take notes. I actually like econometrics now.
This professor is one of the best in the ARE department. Simply put if you talk to him during office hours he will explain what needs to get done in order to pass. ARE106 one of the worse classes to take I took it with 2 other prof. This is the only time I understood the material and concepts. Great Teacher
Like others have said, he is a bit unorganized. Once you get over that fact, his classes are not that bad...
he is an awful prof. you never know what hes talking about and materials are super disorganized!! his grading is weired as well he doesnt even take a look at what u wrote
This professor is nice in person but not in teaching! I turned in 2 midterms for regrade, but nothing was changed at all. I also didn't get to see my grade for final because it was never posted! Very irresponsible so to speak.
Professor Lundblad is an interesting professor. He livens up the lectures and presents the concepts clearly. The exams were manageable, although it was hard to tell what he expected from the writing sometimes. He always seemed well prepared for lecture, but not really at all when it came down to posting grades.
He is awesome! He gives you old exams and study guides! He gives you class notes as well. He has an interesting sense of humor. It's pretty funny. I'm down to take him for any other class.
Class was great. He provided detailed printed notes, helped us step by step on hw, and old midterms that really prepared us. Lectures are not always interesting but he breaks it down very well and is pretty funny. Only bad thing is he never posted our final exam grades
GREAT teacher.. funny helpful and grades fairly easy... gives you past exams to study with which are VERY similar to the one you'll have ... Good Class!
I have taken him 2 quarters consecutively. His tests are actually fun, seriously. There are Multiple Choice which are really similar to the old exams he gives you. There are Fill in the blanks from a Study Guide word bank and there are a few problems. He is great at teaching and is humorous as well. Very nice guy.
Prof. Lundblad isn't a hard professor at all, lectures made sense and were all available to be printed out, which I recommend. The readings were interesting and talked about in class as well as on the exams. If you study the study guide its an easy A, free responses were usually given full credit for the general concepts. High recommend this class.
great professor! very clear, very helpful, notes are online. great in office hours! definitely would recommend professor lundblad
I liked him. He was chill and flexible, but he lagged in posting up grades. Study the practice midterms, 'cause some of the questions will be repeated on the actual tests. He grades short answers easy, gives a little curve on tests. Projects are easy. Lectures are boring and he doesn't clearly explain material, but this class was easy.
Lecture was boring and slightly disorganized. He gives a ton of practice midterms before the actual midterm and pulls the exact questions and adds a few new ones. There is a curve which can be beneficial to many.
He knew the material well. His notes are extremely helpful-he posts them all online. The tests are hard, but he does give you previous exams as well as practice ones to help you prepare. The papers are relatively easy, and the class lectures were fairly interesting. Professor Lundblad goes out of his way to help if you need it.
Lundblad is one of the most helpful professors out there. He goes out of his way to help students. He posts a study guide before the midterm and final exam and that is all the material on there. Also go over class notes and you will do great!
Lectures were confusing and boring, but if you study your notes and do the practice exams then you'll do fine. He's a really nice guy, and he does go out of his way to help students.
I am a nutrition major and everything in this class went right over my head. He's a nice guy and says nutrition majors do well in his class but I have no idea how thats possible. The lectures are scattered and use vocabulary thats unrecognizable to anyone who hasn't taken extensive econ classes.
Great guy. Take him if you need ARE classes. When he lectures he's a little all over the place, but if you bring your notes with you to class you should at least be able to write a couple things down. Study everything on the study guide and be able to answer all the questions on the practice tests he emails out.
This class was tough for me as a nutrition major. I didn't feel like I understood what was being taught at times. The terms killed me since I had no clue as to what they meant. Overall, the class isn't too hard to get an A as long as you spend time to memorize everything and do all the practice tests. He's a funny guy thought, so lectures were okay
He's a good guy and he really does try to help his students. He goes in the chatroom and answers Qs before the tests. One of the easiest ARE classes I have taken. He gives you past midterms for you to study off for the midterms. As long as you can answer all those and study the study guide you will be fine. Mostly a memorization class!
Pretty easy class, but my nutrition major friend did find this class difficult. Print the notes before going to class and take notes during lecture. Study from those very carefully. Read the assigned readings. The assignments are also easy points. Do the practice exams.
A fairly friendly professor. If you are good at memorization and/or conceptual materials, then this is the class for you. Quite a bit of reading and analysis involved. However, the abundance of materials can be a bit daunting to study for exams. Few assignments and interactions and a large class makes the class less useful than it should be.
Jerry would be a good guy to have a beer with, but is the least organized professor I've ever had. Provides you with notes, and classwork is reasonable and doable, but lectures are absolutely all over the place and test questions can be unfair and frequently have major errors. On the plus side, recycles questions so study old tests!
He mumbles, disorganized, be preped to memorize terms, final was surprisingly difficult. scraped by with an A-
He is the nicest professor I've met. He's funny person and will answer questions during office hours after class. His lectures are really disorganized, mumbles, and has bad handwriting but if you talk to him, he'll clarify things.
Energetic. Funny. Interests me in course. Extremely helpful, posts past exams and review material. Post lectures ahead of time and provides comments to them. He is disorganized, and crammed a lot of material until the end, but was helpful. Lots of minor assignments in groups. 2 Midterms, 2 2pg papers, 1 final. No reason to fail. Lots of help given.
Great guy, awful professor. Unfortunately this class is required and he's the only prof. He's incredibly disorganized and the way he asks questions on tests is confusing. Material is very easy but the lectures are jumbled and short. Avoid him if possible. (If you must take it, go to office hours! He is actually a cool guy and very knowledgeable)
Shouldn't be teaching at Davis, such a waste of a class that could have been so much more useful. Memorizing random adjectives that have very little relevance. Yes it was easy (got an A) for the most part but the man is so disorganized. Should be in the private sector but has no right to be in the class room. Such a shame.
Lectures are extremely DISORGANIZED. He jumps from one topic to another. Study Guides were helpful though. Seems like a nice guy
Awesome professor will give you all the material you need to get through the class. GIves lots of online notes which contain the same material he tests for on the exams. Also a great guy, very approachable.
He is a great teacher. He really wants his students to do well in his courses. Expect to work a lot in his classes; you must definitely devote time to get a good grade. Overall, he is a great person and a great professor.
This guy is terribly disorganized and material is hard to grasp because he does not structure the class well. I would avoid him and take Whitney instead if you want to learn anything.
Extremely UNORGANIZED. Never posted materials or scores on SmartSite on time. Lectures were unclear, boring and not very helpful. But he did give study guide to help you pass the exams. Overall a very bad lecturer. Avoid him if you can!
You will be frustrated by how unorganized this teacher is. You will not learn anything in his class, there is no substance in his lectures or notes. Prepare to memorize tons of definitions without any solid understanding if what they mean.
He is downright horrible. I honestly couldn't stand his lectures, I tried but I couldn't. He will frustrate you with his dumb examples related to cartoons and Disney movies and you will barely learn anything in his class. AVOID!!
This guy is not supposed to be a teacher. He is really bad at his job. If you want to learn anything, avoid him. If you want to NOT learn about organization of business with examples such as the movie BABE, then take his class. His is so boring that easy stuff seems really hard.
Very nice professor, one of the best in UC Davis; very knowledgable, not only teach you materials from class, also give you advices from life. Go to his office, he can give you advice for your future career planning, help you editing resume, etc.
I took 112 with him before which was ok. I was skeptical about taking 155 with him. It was actually really good. His lectures follow a book so notes and handouts can be directly referenced. Reading the book helped tons and the test questions definitions are out of it. Go to his office hours he's a nice guy and has a lot of industry knowledge.
Not a man econ major but the material wasn't that bad for me. Just memorize the notes, and the course pack is pretty helpful since it has old exams. Seems like a lot of work but its pretty easy.
No point to go to his classes. He is completely incoherent. I don't know how he does not get scrutinized by the department. He constantly brings up what we should say in interviews, but, this is not career 101. He cant write good or explain anything correctly. Avoid him if you can. UC Davis should be ashamed for having him teach such a class.
Oh wow! Where did they find this guy and let him teach this class. He can't do one problem on the board the whole quarter.
Lundblad poorly prepares for his class. He cannot properly explain his examples in his class due to his stuttering nor can he write them due to his illegible handwriting.
I cannot believe UC Davis would hire someone like Lundblad to teach students here about organizational management. In fact, himself cannot even present the information at an organized structure. He never answer student emails, always talk about career and companies his buddies work for, and clears his throat every 2 seconds. A change is necessary.
I don't know why people are surprised why uc davis has Lundblad teaching this. UC davis has poor instructors in the ARE department, besides constantine. Educating students is not their primary objective. Research and $$$ is.
Lundblad is an under-appreciated gem. Okay yes he is scatterbrain and doesnt respond to emails but literally 100% of the class is on smartsite. Puts up all notes, podcasts, past tests, worksheets, everything you need for the class and even tells you what to study. If you don't like him it's probably because you don't know the right way to study
He is a flawed teacher. Most of his fill in or mc questions on his tests are incomplete questions taken from a test bank other than the one he uses. He couldn't explain problems correctly brcause he doesn't understand them. Ask him how to do a blending problem qnd he won't know. His questions don't make sense. Avoid him. Lol this guy is a joke
He's such a nice guy, so I really wanted to like him as a teacher. However, his tests were just bad. The multiple choice and fill in on the midterms were killer. Our final had 35 multiple choice questions worth 70 points, and 6 short answer problems worth 30 points. The multiple choice was really specific and hard and worth way too much!
Terrible. We've all had some bad professors, but Jerry takes the cake as the worst instructor I have ever had. His poor lecturing skills reduce him to a mere proctor. On that note, his tests are horribly formatted and his questions are arbitrarily selected from the book, making it more difficult to get an A than the course material would suggest.
This is NOT an easy class-you'll have devote a lot of time to memorizing the terms & concepts & knowing them inside out in order to be able to apply them to the questions that he asks on the exams. This is class is helpful because it prepares you for job interviews and Lundblad is an incredibly resource if you talk to him. He cares about students.
Awful, awful class. Laughably arbitrary test questions rife with typos that test regurgitation skills and memorization of completely random irrelevant things that counter common sense. Maybe it's not his fault the material is so boring, but he sure does make it torturous. I studied hard and learned nothing. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
Professor Lundblad likes to tell stories. He was very disorganized, I am not sure if it was just this class and quarter or if it is his usual. There was a lot of required (for tests) reading - three full length books, miscellaneous articles, and parts of two more books. The tests were difficult and had a lot of grammatical errors.
Course pack we need to buy instead of book. Good. Inexpensive. Online broadcasting is available so we can watch it again. Exam was not easy but he would be generous for the grade. Check off assignment will be given but not hard. Take this class. You will love it or hate it. I love it though.
Very hard to follow, especially as a Nutrition major. Notes are given, however they are VERY unclear, and lectures don't always make them better. Appreciated that he tried to liven things up with stories and being playful with students. That said, expectations of what you should know and where grades stand are difficult to gauge. Ambiguous class!
Despite the class being the most ambiguous and messy class, the professor was actually really fun, interesting, and has real experience when it comes to management. However, if you are looking for a good grade. Turn around and run. Prepare to struggle with messy notes and unclear exam material. It's been a week since finals, and no grades posted.
This was my second class with Lundblad. He is quirky with his "partners" and stammer. Despite popular opinion, 112 is not as easy as it seems. It is a class where you can slack off almost all quarter, but make sure you strongly prepare for his exams. Though fair, they require a lot of memorization. Read the Goal; others are sort of unnecessary
I see many complaints on here, but Professor Lundblad really isn't all that bad. He sends out lecture notes, which basically have everything that you will see on the exam. He can be a little bit disorganized, but luckily, you're in charge of your own education.. Not him. Read over the lecture notes & go to office hours if anything is unclear. Easy!
He is simple, straightforward, no curve balls, just read the goal and memorize lecture slides and you are good, he does not like phones in class, and will call you out if you are on in it. ARE 112 was a 2 hour lecture but all but 1 lecture finished well before that. Show up, look up every now and then and you should be fine.
You either love Lundblad or you find him annoying. I am a fan of him. 157 was my 3rd class with him and you can always expect no surprises. Specifically, 157 will be easier if you took him for 112 and 155 in that there are several overlapping topics. He is a bit of a scatterbrain, but his intentions are good and you do learn.
Although he has REALLY terrible handwriting. his classes are straight forward. if you memorize everything he provides you will be good on the tests. He assigns books to read, focus on the main ones and you'll be fine, The Goal/Who Says Elephants Cant Dance/etc. Waiting to take ARE155 with him!
What a joke of a professor. He just puts the textbook under projector and reads the book as a lecture. He really doesn't know what's going on. Talks fast, mumbles, stammers, and regularly clears his throat in an attempt to keep the airwaves occupied; it's all an act. Hes a very clever businessman gaming the UC system, pretending to be a teacher
Easy to pass. His lectures are boring. You don't have to do all the readings to pass. However, if you do all the readings, I believe you will learn a lot. He gives you previous exams for practice. Pretty much the same as the exam. Memorize the vocab list.
Prof. Lundblad is all over the place. 10% of lecture is spent with him telling people to get off their phones, laptops, etc. Granted, the material is pretty obscure and theoretical, and studying for exams requires pure memorization. A good thing is that he's always available for office hours pretty much every day if you ever need help.
I don't know why people complain about Lundblad. He is always accessible outside of class and everything is online. I found his lectures to be well organized and easy to follow. He clearly explain difficult material in a way that was easy to understand. I will definitely take more classes with him in the future.
Unbelievably unorganized. Red flag, especially when you're teaching an Organization Management class. Gives lecture notes for each class that aren't put together well at all. Forgets to input the grades into the grade-book. Got a C in the class because he 'forgot' to input my grade for THREE assignments. Never replied back to any of my emails.
His midterms - a question was (from the movie Babe we watched in class): When Mrs. Hogett left later in the book, did she leave by a)train,b) bus,c)with her sister,d)two of above,E) none . Am I being asked a plot?- what does it have to do with "Organizational Management"? Don't understand how he gives that midterm- it is not based of what you learn
Lectures are painful to sit through. He is unorganized. It seems like the majority of the time, he is talking for the sake of talking and is not teaching important information. His tests are badly worded and filled with grammatical errors. But, he cares about students and curves very generously (80 93). Memorize his notes and take sample tests!!!
Teacher acts nice/funny to keep class running smoothly. Lectures are impossible to takes notes from. Course pack completely disorganized, tests are NOTHING beyond your ability to memorize pointless blips of information. Multiple choice filled with 100% "gotcha" style questions? No paper writing? No group work? No research project? This is a UC.
Multiple choice test. You can't ask too much. It's the UC
Lundblad is a fun professor, I personally found most of his lectures quite humorous and I thought I learned quite a bit from the class, like stuff that could be used in the real world. The tests are all memorization, but I'm not complaining. theres a large curve, and he's a pretty cool guy.
Notice that I selected the tag "hilarious" as I am referring to how much of a joke this class is. Exams ask you little details about lecture. For example, one question had these options A) get to the train station b) cross a bridge c)drive to work.. You get the point. I think the UCD hiring department should be drug tested for hiring this guy. Joke
Awful! This is a major req for many majors such as Nutrition. For the students to have to deal with Lundblad's disorganization, notes that are impossible to learn from, and the fact that he ends class 40 minutes earlier than the end-time makes ARE look bad. TIP: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ORGANIZATION IN THE CLASS YOU TEACH BEFORE YOU TEACH ORG MANAGEMENT.
waited 2 weeks to find out my course grade, after he sent not one, but two emails telling the class that grades would be inputted. Yet, two days before the school deadline they are not in. He doesn't understand how to use canvas so understanding what your grade actually is is impossible. It's ridiculous and rude to students who just want to move on
If you memorize his lecture notes you will get an A. There is a lot of reading assigned, but you don't have to read the entire book to do well on the exams. I found his lectures generally entertaining and he is very approachable.
Boring lectures, swear the dude just likes to hear himself talk. Blabs all class long. Only funny sometimes, like once a lecture. Will call you out if you are on your phone. Memorize the lecture notes and you should be fine. Okay class, didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
For an Organizational Management class, you don't learn much about organization or management. This can be a super easy class if you just memorize the lecture notes. For the final, he may say its cumulative, but 85% of the final was based on the readings toward the end of the class. Class is super boring, just him talking and stuttering.
The class gives the appearance of being organized, but isn't. The books he assigned are easy to read & interesting, but the lectures I found to be relatively pointless. While the material isn't complicated, the exams test your memorization instead of your understanding of the key concepts. This class, I found to be pointless & just too frustrating.
This class is all about Memorization and nothing else. Just memorize the past exams he gives you and you will get a B, maybe an A. You can go to class if you want, sometimes he will give out extra credit. Totally unorganized during lectures but he is fully ready for anything during an exam, he gives out tissues, cough drops, erasers, and pencils.
Professor is a kind, but incompetent professor. His lectures provide no practical application and are extremely unorganized. You are rarely required to attend class because lectures are recorded and post. Exams do not cover difficult material but Lunblad's style of writing questions can be extremely vexing. Overall, would not recommend 112 with him
His lectures are extremely disorganized and obviously no one proofreads his exams, since there are serious grammatical issues on every other question. The exams themselves are full of "gotcha" type questions. He mumbles and goes on wild tangents that make it extremely hard to discern any actual meaning from his lectures too.
So hard to explain this class. The material has no substance, the class is so unorganized, lectures are painful but it was an incredibly EASY A for me. The test questions are so obscure but he curved both test by like two letter grades haha its just a dumb class, almost would rather take a real class and work for a grade over this
Unbelievable, disorganized, very boring, and painful. Don't take him even if it causes you to change the major. There is a reason that UC Davis has a low ranking among universities, and that reason is having professors like Lundblad.
Ironic that a class about organization management was so unorganized. The tests were ridiculous and don't facilitate any form of learning (avgs on the 2 midterms for the class were 62&54). You memorize tiny details from poorly structured notes. I wouldn't recommend you take this class unless you absolutely must. exam question: "2+25, what is this"
Lundblad is a kind soul. Hes an old man with many stories to tell. Kind of thought of this class as a joke though because we really didn't do much. Pretty disorganized but as long as you come to class you pass.
So Lundblad is a nice guy, however, this class is a mess. I have no problems with difficult exams, however his exams, I don't feel, test your grasp on the material at all. There are numerous misspellings, and really insignificant details you have to remember to get the question right. Honestly, you don't even have to understand the material. Memorize
No need to go to lecture, he records it & posts it. His tests are hard because they do not test the materials but tiny details from lectures or class notes that he gives you. Expects you to read 2-4 books which you don't have to because he provides you with reading notes that may help during the tests. Sucks that Man Econ major requires this class
Most of the class is weighted on 2 exams and final. Only 10% weighed for small, homework assignments. Assigns 2 novels and many articles that show up on exams. Best way to study for exams is to search past exams and study the multiple choice answers. FAT curve. I got D's and F's on exams but got away with a C.
Most ambiguous tests in the world that do not test the material but his examples and their context in the class. Midterms are the majority of your grade. Study really hard for them and make sure you know the terms on his study guide. Has lots of office hours and is a really nice guy if you go and talk to him. Read the books - helps for tests!
Most unorganized class ever. He has multiple different sets of notes and readings and assignments all over the place and requires us to read 6 books. The tests ask for the most random specific details or words he mentioned at some point during lecture and they may or may not be in the notes. I can confidently say I learned nothing in this class.
Ironic. Unorganized person teaching a class on organization. Still a nice guy to talk to but the class is painfully scattered everywhere.
Honestly probably one of the WORST professors I have ever had at Davis. He is a nice guy but the class is completely unorganized and it makes learning the material so difficult. Lectures are a constant back and forth of confusion. I have never done so bad in an ARE course, but this class has ruined my GPA. I really regret taking this class.
To be honest, the only thing I learned in this class is that the professor does not know how to use spell check for the exams. The amount of typos and misspellings on the exams are inexcusable. For an organization class, this is the most disorganized class I have taken at Davis.
I took the Consulting Seminar with Lundblad, and boy did he not make the subject or career appealing at all. He kept talking about his own career assuming we knew what he was talking about, and the readings and activities were asinine. Other reviews here say he's disorganized, and I agree. Once a week with him fall quarter was once a week too many.
PSA to students interested in grad school DO NOT TAKE WITH THIS PROF. I asked him for a letter of recommendation, which he originally said yes. But now last minute he is saying he won't write me one b/c he doesn't have time. So basically he messed up my chances for grad school since idk who else to ask so late into the application season
He suggests students read about 4-5 books but will ask about characters or stupid things on the exam. Tests consist of examples he's given in class and definitions. He uploads notes which are helpful. Overall, fairly simple, just memorize definitions and what he emphasizes on, and you'll do fine. Recommend you purchase the course packet he mentions
The information I learned in this class wasn't cohesive at all. It felt extremely scattered with diagrams that didn't make a lot of sense. Lectures were very difficult to pay attention during since he stuttered and cleared his throat into the microphone constantly. Exams were on very specific things from reading and lecture.
Very passionate and caring instructor. I feel like ppl here complaining here are those who cant listen to what this guy has to say. If you just do what he tells you to do, easy A :)) Jerry is the absolute GOAT!
This course will RUIN your GPA! He is a "nice" guy, but be ready for the wired exams, which mostly not make sense. You cannot trust what he said, because lots of time were not true. i.e. posting study guide during the weekend, but actually not; knowing scores next class, but actually after several weeks. A memorization course, and LEARN NOTHING.
Took over for another Professor. Very unorganized. Doesnt really teach, just uses the textbook, makes copies of it as lecture & reads it. Over promises everything and grading is unorganized and not updated. Very lost and DO NOT recommend. Class ended but doesnt tell us if curved or not, stopped replying to emails. Avoid !
Took over for another professor. Extremely unclear about the grading criteria. Very unclear in his lectures. He gives out notes but they do not match up with what is on the exam. Exams are confusing. Worked hard enough to get an A- but on student records I have a C with no explanation from his side. Avoid at all costs.
Dude does not know how to teach. Grades VERY inconsistent with Canvas and Oasis. Says one thing and does the other. Unreliable with grading and how they are assessed. Does not reply to emails when questioned about the grading. Messed up everyone's GPA. Please avoid unless you want your GPA lowered and have more stress.
This guy, in my honest opinion should no longer be employed at UC Davis. Messed up many peoples GPA and was not helpfull in any way about it. That itself should tell you what kind of professor he is.
FYI I TOOK THIS CLASS ABROAD SO MY EXPERIENCE IS DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS! I took this class abroad in Scotland and loved it. Very easy with little work. Lundblad is a very nice person, but talks fast. He said he made the class easy and test questions very similar to study guide. Great experience thanks to Lundblad!
I have taken this class twice. It covers a lot of materials and requires to remember the books small things. Not hard to get a low passing grade, however it is difficult to get a good grade. For my case, this will be my last one or two classes to take in this major. I still feel it's challenging . Not all concepts are being explained clear.
I took this class about a year ago when he took over for another professor but i wanted to write a review now because im studying for finals and im in a bad mood. This dude is garbage. Worst class ive taken by far, and from what i hear he handles his are112 class the same way he did ours. Stay away from this garbage professor by all means necessary
Worst teacher on campus, don't risk you'r grade with partner Lundblad! He does not go over his own material well and expects you to know the little things. His test questions are so random and confusing. Please take anyone else as I regret it! So much memorizing and need to print out extra course material if want to pass.
This is literally the worst teacher on campus. This is not a learning class but rather a memorization class. His material is unclear but he expects you to know the material even and encourages people too "just take the test you will be fine" making empty promises. A lot of the students around me shared the same opinions of him, just don't take him
Being objective. Topics and lessons covered in this class are extremely useful and relevant for any young professional. He always refers to job/grad school interviews which are 100% accurate. Problem is, the structure of the class and exam formats are miserable. His lectures are dry and his exams are ultra specific and will drive you crazy. Beware.
honestly, the material in this class is very useful to real life situations. i recommend buying the books and course pack ahead of time. STUDY STUDY STUDY. look at old exam questions and quizlets. if you attend class, study and stay on track, you should pass the class. however, the teacher is not very responsive with emails and updating canvas.
I struggle with tests in general, but his quiz's are ridiculous. They are set up so that you cannot go back to look at a previous question again and you have 1 minute for each. If there weren't other assignments keeping me afloat I would 100% not pass.
DO NOT even try this professor. The reviews are profoundly correct about this professor!!! He doesn't interpret the meaning of the materials being taught. The worst part is that he asks absurd questions on the quizzes and exams. Someone please let the deans attend his class, and have them experience these quizzes and exams! TRULY ruining lives!!!
Lectures are total mess. Quizzes are ultra random and specific like what's the figure of the shirt of the person wearing that you saw on the subway station two weeks ago. multiple choice: A. tiger B. elephant C. a thing like monster D. Two of the answers. Not an actual quiz question but you get the idea... The quizzes are designed to fail the class
Lectures are SUPER superficial, quizzes are SUPER specific. Material is poorly taught and recites lecture notes word for word. You're better off reading wikipedia for an explanation of the materials. Lots of books required. Poor communication he does not address everything asked in emails or comments.
Jerry obviously puts no effort in. He makes excuses for bad canvas organization, spelling errors everywhere, short, poorly written emails, doesn't respond to emails, "yells" in all caps in the course chat, hasn't updates his material in years, impossibly specific quizzes, nasty uncritical course content and in incredibly unorganized and sarcastic.
Get ready to tear your hair out because he doesn't explain how to do anything. For example he uploads an assignment but forgets the prompt and doesn't respond to anyone for weeks on end. Quizzes have nothing to do with the material and are memorization of his slides and books, and the MC answers all make sense, but you have to pick the "best" one.
Will not care about you for a second. SUPER specific quizzes, when avg quiz scores got worse he changed the format and they sank more. At the beginning of the course he would chat in the canvas chat section but one month in and he stopped. If you have to take him I recommend praying
Honestly the quiz questions and the his lectures are so weird it's kind of impossible to follow his thought process. There's no clear method of anything he does, it's kind of like he just clicks randomly on Canvas until something happens. He says things like "real managers deal with unexpected situations" when you ask why the averages are low. ????
He is a nice man who is personable and passionate, however, he is extremely confusing to listen to because he never finishes a thought and thinks everyone always understands. Weekly quizzes make up most of your grade and they are very confusing. Even when he claims they are "straight forward", the class average of quizzes was consistently a 70%.
do yourself a favor and just don't
His lectures were a bit all over the place and class is quiz heavy, but he makes all the material and lecture videos accessible. He tells lots of interesting stories to help relate to the material. Many students complained but if you watch lectures, go to OH and Try, you'll find he is a good and caring teacher.
This is the most unorganized class with a professor who means well but has no idea how to properly teach an online class. If you don't have multiple friends in this class, there's no way that you can possibly find every assignment yet alone do them. The quizzes are horribly worded and multiple people complained to the dean. Seriously avoid this guy
Took online during COVID. Worst part is that it is unorganized. No clear road map as to what will be presented, and then quizzes weekly on random details. Lectures feel like he is going on tangents, but sometimes the tangents are actually important. The best thing to do is not study, just Ctrl+F the quizzes and hope for the best.
Fun lectures and give great personal experience and life tips. Exams are well strategized and may confuse certain students since he's very smart ;) Show up and ask good questions --> A+
Avoid this class like you life depends on it. One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Quizzes are insanely difficult and detailed, with no time to take them. I spent more time on this class than I did ARE 106 and got a worse grade for it. A lot of reading, he gives a lot of easy points, but the quizzes are 80% (yes 80%) of the grade. AVOID
This course is organized somewhat unconventionally, but once you pick up the flow, it's easy to get by. Prof. is flexible and lets you turn things in late. Quizzes are pretty hard if you don't go to lecture, but the times I did go to lecture I did well. Final is optional. I got a really good glimpse of the management career from this class!
This class is just brutal. If not a requirement-AVOID. Little to no structure in the course and I didn't know my grade in the class until week 8. Quizzes are based on the most specific details from lecture, are 10 minutes, and a lot of "select all that apply" questions making it nearly impossible to get an A. Nice guy, just really hard course.
Perfect class if you want to learn marketing. Can be conceptual so you need to work through examples urself. If you are fresh learner for ARE 112&113, Then it WILL be unorganized and confusing. Marketing and organization skills are very fuzzy and ambiguous in NATURE! Had two case studies. u should learn from classmates if allowed. Easy assgn/exam
His tests are extremely detailed-oriented. You have to really know your materials to receive an A in this course. There were two midterms, a pre-final quiz, and an optional final. The curve is weak; therefore, do not depend on the curve to bring your grade up unless you are just a few points away. He is well-respected, and offers stellar advice.
Lundblad is a funny person, but not the best lecturer. His notes are disorganized, exams are difficult, and he goes on tangents which I personally didn't mind, but sometimes these tangents actually had to do with the purpose of the lecture, others times not. Attend all the lectures and take good notes, an A is possible just not easy.
This class is actually probably one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. Don't get me wrong, the professor is very very kind. He is super understanding and overall, i think, a great person. However, these exams... are just... killer. If you do not know every detail of every word said in lecture. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Horrible professor. When you try to send him an email he does not respond at all. On top of that he goes on many rambles on topics that do not pertain to the class. His lecture notes are unclear and his form of going in detail on notes is to highlight them. I highly recommend to NOT take his class.
Really nice professor especially outside of class, but lectures are a lot of material and you have to know all of it for the exams. Underestimated the first exam and dug a huge hole for myselfDONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!!! Exams are very detail oriented so make sure you know the notes really well! Flashcards were really helpful.
The professor is a cool person but his exams are extremely detailed-oriented. Some of his questions on the exams are difficult to understand because of their wording or nature. I HIGHLY recommend using Quizlet to study. He does provide study guides but they have a lot of info that makes you memorize more than you need to. Overall, I do recommend.
The comments here are accurate, Lundblad is a cool guy, but the exams are very detailed. You need to memorize a lot of stuff to get an A. Do yourself a favor and download test banks or use quizlet
82% of the grade comes from 2 midterms and the final. These tests are full of hyper-specific questions like hes purposefully tricking you into failing. Look up this class on Quizlet, youll see how poorly written the tests are. This is ironically the most disorganized class Ive taken at UCD. He goes on long tangents and does not teach anything.
Lundblad is such a sweetheart. Very accomodating and accessible outside of class- as long as you communicate with honesty and respect, you'll get what you want. Also, utilize his wisdom, this man has worked for large CPA firms and participated in large consulting projects. My advice would be to not view his lectures as lectures but as stories.
DON'T TAKE IF NOT REQUIRED. Incoherent speaker, can't understand what he's saying half the time in lecture. Test questions are hyperspecific and requires memorizing almost every bullet point of notes. Lots of reading. Almost no HW. Exams (2 midterm 1 final) weighted heavily. Passionate person, awful professor.
One of the worst professors I have taken up until now. Never responds to emails, updates your midterm score weeks after the midterm is over, and is ironically completely disorganized!!! Please do yourself a favor by not taking this course. You learn absolutely nothing. It's all rote memorization. I will admit that the books he assigns are superb!
Lundbland uses documents in lieu of PPTs ..there ends up being a mess of docs you have to make sure to keep categorized on you own notes app or binder. About 3 books per quarter-- fairly easy autobiographies but the corresponding test questions are vague. Lectures aren't recorded--please attend and try your best to keep up.. beware of tangents.
Lectures are way too long and boring, tests are very specific and there were so much reading. You have to put in A LOT of work and memorization to get a good grade. RUN!!!!!
Fall Q22 we had our midterm online because of the TA strike which rlly helped my grade, Final was in person but he gave the option to take it the1st week of Winter W23,& now bc of the storms he moved it online! even if the storms def calmed down 2nd&3rd week. How is that fair that majority class took it in person NO NOTES, but the others use Notes
They need to have other professors teach this course. He seems nice but don't be fooled, will never answer emails and if he does they make no sense. He has typos in almost every word, not very professional of him. Exams are not fair. I am sure he is a nice person, but his teaching style is outdated.
Not a great lecturer but it's better to attend lectures than to try & understand his course lecture notes by yourself (as his notes leaves out explanations or definitions). Lots of memorization, whole course is just terms and knowing management concepts. Recorded lectures. Provides book notes but best to read it. MC, Free Respo, Fill in Blank exams
Challenging class if you procrastinate. He's very knowledgeable but his lectures can be hard to understand sometimes (rambles and mumbles at times). You have to listen carefully so you know what's relevant. Have notes pdf out during class, you'll need to write things down. Memorization heavy - Specific Exams. Take the practice exams and use quizlet
Professor Lundblad genuinely is a nice guy, just his tests are not nice. This class requires an insane amount of memorization, and some of his test questions are micro-specific to the material. The class is heavily weighted on the 2 midterms and final. Class files and assignments were somewhat disorganized, yet he was very lenient on assignments.
Lundblad's teaching was not horrible but it was not the best either. The class itself was not insanely difficult but it's best to write down notes as his exams are super specific sometimes. There are small assignments you have to do but he gives credit as long as you do it right.
Grade is based mainly on super-specific exams. Material all sounds the same so it's hard to tell topics parts. Have to memorize a million facts for exams and read 5 books. Nice professor, answers emails, has to be deaf bc he cant understand a word we say or answer a single question. In class exercises so you gotta show up. Curves and gives a lil EC
Professor Lundblad is a very nice professor who truly cares about the students and their well-being. Contrary to previous ratings, he has become accessible outside of class and is always willing to accommodate students. But, he is disorganized about his topics, which require you to do a lot of reading and learning/studying on your own.
this class is doable, but please don't take this unless you NEED to. it's rote memorization, and it is the most disorganized class i have ever taken in my entire life. there are so many random things you need to know, and you have to write down every tiny detail he says to succeed. do quizlets and practice exams, but avoid if you can
Jerry is a good man, but a terrible professor. The educational value of this class is very low. Lectures are very unfocused, and quite frankly, are just 70% rambling and 30% content. Basically no homework, but exams are a pain to study for. After almost 4 years at UCD, this is absolutely the worst course I have taken. Haven't learned much. Avoid.
just study the quizlets and this class is a breeze
Wanted to love this class but the material is very dense and hard to memorize. Tests are replicas of his past midterms, which means this class is VERY memorization based so don't take it if you suck at memorizing. As a teacher, he's a rambler but very kind and accommodating to students.
Horrible professor; his lectures are so so pointless. His class was a waste of time.
Jerry is a sweet man, he always checks in on students and asks if they need help. His lectures often do not make sense but his study guides are quite helpful in preparing for the exams.
He is very kind, but his lecture examples are confusing. Notes are good and many study materials. He is older, so he rambles a bit, but lectures are worth going to if you can multitask while you listen. Recordings not released until the day before the exam. Always stays after class and checks in on everyone, cares about people who want to succeed
wait he's lowkey goated
Professor Lundblad is very accessible outside of class, but his lectures can be a little confusing. He seems genuine and wants everyone to do well in his class, but his explanations can be difficult to understand.
GO TO OFFICE HOURS AND TALK TO HIM, He is genuinely like a grandpa and so supportive. He curves like crazy but also if you talk to him individually he will help you understand the concepts. P.S. He doesn't get off topic he's trying to explain the concept through storytelling kinda as a grandpa would.
Honestly, he's a nice and caring professor, but his exams are WAY TOO DIFFICULT. It requires a lot of memorization and since I'm taking 2 SS courses, it's really hard to memorize everything since every week requires SO MUCH time and reading, which burns me out. I recommend if you're taking his class over the summer, just take his. Nothing else.
He is too senile to be teaching. He needs to retire for all of our sake. He can hardly form a proper sentence and all his emails and messages are borderline gibberish. This makes the class awful.
The only interesting thing about this class are the readings. All the lectures are the professor literally reading off a Google Doc that he expects us to print out and bring to lecture. The lectures are incredibly boring and I would not recommend taking any of his classes. You will not learn anything from lecture but are expected to memorize it all
The professor is kind and helpful, though his lectures can be a bit confusing. The class is memorization-heavy, but using resources like Unstuck study alongside the study guides really helps. Worth taking if you put in the work.
Lundblad is a wonderful human being, very caring, but this class is not it. It is hard to understand him or any of the material. I did my best in this class but never had any idea what was going on. You will pass this class but you won't excel unless you are a ARE wiz
Great guy but unconventional lecture style. Teaches through storytelling and going on tangents so a lot of people think he's just yapping but what he's saying will be on the exam. Go to lecture, lock in, pay attention, memorize the notes and readings, and its easy. Also use Quizlet. This class is pure memorization.
You WILL pass. but lowkey just memoize that key terms and understand the assignments and you will be fine. but super disorganized course. very mid class
Love the guys. Only prb was I don't know what the class is abt every lecture I walk in hoping that day I would know what the class is about; but every time walk out more confused and disapointed than I walked in. All in all great guy, ask him about what the dinosours were like. PS: Hope he learns how to use a computer. Prof I love u;)
Well this class was a hot mess.. disorganized canvas, rambling during lectures, confusing exams, and assignments that don't make any sense. The only way I passed is by studying quizlet with previous year exam questions. Overall would not recommend taking if not a requirement. Only plus is he does curve and is a nice guy just a bad teacher.
Sweet professor, but overall not effective in lecturing. Directly posted our grades into Oasis without updating Canvas. My high A dropped to an A-. Thought practicing from Quizlets would be good, but the final exam had a large amount of new questions, so don't rely. Be sure to read notes to not miss tiny details, such as Alice is the penguin.
Bros sweet but tooo old. I took it as p/np. i passed, and most people will. you will not see questions you expect, but you can definitely search up previous exam questions to see what they're like. just do the assignments and score decent on the tests. if you're aiming for an A good luck (go to office hours, heard it helps).
This man doesn't deserve this level of bashing. His class is really just a memorization class. As long as you camp quizlet you'll do fine. He's also willing to help you in office hours. Only ick is he's a little scatterbrained but that's it. Make sure to write the examples he mentions in class since they appear on the exam.
Lundblad is a very kind man and willing to help. Quizlet is extremely helpful tool for midterms. His lectures are all over the place and he tends to go on tangents. You have to listen closely because minor details mentioned in class will be on the exam.
Professor Lundblad should no longer be a lecturer. This is not a personal attack, however he is borderline senile, stumbles over his sentences, and cannot lead a clear structured class.
He is a wonderful person who have a lot of wisdom and experience that he is willing to share to students but the exams are way too hard and specific. Take this class only if you excel at memorization.
Mumbles a LOT and rambles during lecture, hard to understand, materials scattered all over Canvas, difficult to keep track of assignments, will not share video lectures until weekend before exams, prints half the handouts and won't always give you one, many Canvas links don't work, a lot of terms become acronyms,
Lundbald is very disorganized. Points are based off of two midterms, class exercises (which are given at random), a written assignment, analysis assignment, project management assignment, and final. There are books he has you read and has exam questions about them. He gives study guides, but they are confusing and disorganized. Avoid if possible!
A great person, but a terrible professor. Disorganized, unclear, anachronistic. To succeed, students grind countless Quizlets. Like the professor says, the class is "a mile wide and an inch deep," requiring students to memorize a heap of useless information. While the material and assignments are simple, tests are a nightmare. Avoid if possible.
Not sure why people keep saying that he's a good person, but he can be funny occasionally when he says a joke that he came up with from the stone age. The exams were riddled with typos and force you memorize an abundance of useless information. In any case, I will be starting a petition to abolish this course once and for all. Thanks!
This class is chill you need to memorize the quizlets in order to do well. He has curves so that is good. The lectures itself is very boring and it is really hard to hear him at times. Didn't really learn much but he is really sweet.
He is sweet, but he is definitely not a good professor. If you need to take ARE112 with him for credits, memorizing the answer keys from quizlet is the way to study for this class. Also, read or skim through all the articles and books he gave for scoring a higher grade in midterms and the final.
DO NOT TAKE. You cannot understand what he is saying, is disorganized, hard exams, glhf typa class.
