Very,Very BAD! Completely unclear. Don't start this class unless you have someone to finish it with otherwise your screwed! Very knowlegeable but doesn't share the wealth .oh and make sure you call him DR.because he swept tooo many floors to be called MR!
if I had to give on piece of advice about this teacher It would be NOT TO TAKE HIM!!there is no way to keep track of your grade,he explains nothing and over all if you dont have a friend to stick it out with you won't.This as the worst teacher to take!!!
So very confusing...3 hrs of debate every week...
Easy going, uderstanding, can talk to him about anyting, goup projects: if you don't like your group you can tell him and work alone, after you've given your group a chance. Easy work. you can do your progets early and esimate your grade ahead of time.
C'mon... I was probably in those classes with some of those people... if you didn't learn, then you didn't care, and if you didn't care then philosophy isn't for you... GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!
Great professor, gives easy assignments and teaches the subject very well.
Had lots of fun in Philosophy - discussions/debates are my favorite way to learn. Papers were not hard if done on time and if you have a brain that can work in both the abstract and detailed aspects of application.
I really didn't like this teacher very much. Not clear on most everything to me. Doesn't help much if one of the hardest college subjects to understand has a crappy teacher! Sheesh!
A good professor, always enjoyed going to his class and doing his assingments.
doent explain things thoroughly. you can tell he hates his job. avoid taking him if you can! gives like no work and then in the last few weeks of class he gives you a ton of work. all the work is worth very little points. bad teacher!
Dr. Bonds is a really nice guy. He really likes for the class to get involved in discussions everyday. It might seem like there is a lot of work to do, but it's really not bad. I got an easy A+
Dr. Bonds is great. The class is nothing but a discussion the whole time. No work is due till the end of the semester- BUT do the journal every week like he says to do or else you will be doing it forever at the end!! And final is a paper of your choice.. Easy
He is an excellent teacher.
Wonderful teacher. He is very excited about the subject and he emplores every one of his students to think. The best thing about Philosophy. You will if not learn anything new in the class you will at least start to think. Which is the right way to go. TAKE HIM!
Good teacher. It's true most of the projects are group projects and he leaves everything due in the second half of the semester. I turned a couple of things in late and he didn't mark me down. Also the papers are simple, he doesn't expect perfect writing.
Dr. Bonds is a very good teacher, I just wish he had given more assignments so as to understand it a bit better. I did grasp an understanding and an appreciation for philosophy. I definately say that it would be a good class to take...
Bond's was easy.. A little time consuming on the group prodjects, but maybe it was because my group didn't help me. Definately use power point! Got an easy A+. Bond's is the nicest professor!
Nicest guy! Didn't have any work due till the very end of the semester.. just a journal that needs to be done once a week, and a paper - you pick the topic! The class is just debate everyday. If you like to talk- this is the class for you.
I took his class in the summer and he was very nice and easy. He made the 2 hour class interesting and showed a lot of movie clips. I would take him again in a heart beat.
Dr. Bonds is a terrific guy. His teaching style is laid back and fun with alot of great class discussions. He also encouraged me to continue my education beyond the A.S. degree that I was originally going for, a decision I'm grateful he prompted me to make!
Dr. Bonds is an old hippy with a PhD. Always encouraging and always open to whatever anybody has to say. He starts his classes with a discussion about what "civility" means. If I ever teach, I think I will do the same. He is a better person than a teacher though, I think. I always enjoyed staying after class and discussing subjects with him.

Dr. Bonds is an awesome instructor, he makes learning extraordinarily and exceptionally interesting and intriguing.
very unlcear! class is boring.. he lectures the whole time... u have no way to keep track of your grades..i would not recommend!!!!

Good teacher. The course is an introduction to philosophy, and certainly there are a wide variety debates that take place. Never got out of hand. Those who complain about the opinions of other students in this course (below) are simply intolerant and are sitting in the class for nothing more than a grade, and obviously don't understand it's purpose
This class was very fun to take. Almost anything you want to talk about... he will relate it to Philosophy and start an indepth conversation. Very interesting class. I would almost pay to take it again, but I got an A. Just join in on the conversations and have fun. The semester will be over before you know it. He is funny as well.
Dr Bonds is a very relaxed teacher. He does his best to relate this subject to everyday/modern day happenings. Interesting & interactive class. Just keep up w/ your weekly journal and you'll do fine. The final (2000 words) won't be too hard. He's great - I'd recommend taking his class!
He reminds me of a grandfather of some sort. Talks alot to kill time to give you a reason why you paid for his class. But if he had a choice he rather just hang out and talk to ya at eye level rather than at the podium,Final paper he does that. Be loud and heard during disscussions. Its boring after a while. He looks so funny when he laughs.no test
Dr.Bonds is an awesome teacher he has really helped and encouraged me in my writing.Just show up in class, participate and do the required homework, very easy Instructor would recommend him any time
Professor Bonds does not exactly lecture but introduces in depth class discussions. His class is a nice escape from the pressures of other classes.
Dr. Bond's class was easy.. Most of the work is group presentations, and you get to pick the group. I took a MWF class and he gave us most fridays off! No tests, just some easy homework assignments. Great Teacher!!
Class would have been decent if not for three fellow students who would not shut up and dominated the entire class. Very, very boring, and horrible system where you turn your work in the last day of class so you have no idea what kind of grade you got.
BORING!Talks in a monotone. most students came in late and left early. Few never showed up to class and some fellow students sign them in. Only one paper and journal due at the end of the semester. you have NOO idea how he grades. If ur looking for a HUM elective take Dr. Jones..U'll LOVEE HIM!
he's lovely. anyone who didn't like him probably was just taking it for the graduation credit and therefore, has no business being educated... however, for you business majors that are just looking for an easy A, it is an extremely easy course and if you allow yourself, you will learn alot.
Dr. Bonds was a really cool, laid back guy the entire semester. He is definitely a philosopher at heart, and even though his tone can be a bit dull, it's only because he's deep in thought. Easy A, but you should keep up with your weekly journals and not wait til the end to do them. 300 words per week.
I'll just make this clear: if you're a lazy, high-school-attitude idiot who is unable to spell properly and likes to talk about things you have no clue about--do the world (and the people who are actually interested in this subject) a huge favor and take western humanities with John Hyer. Please. Thanks!
This is a response to the moron below that said three students dominated the class. I was one of those students. The name of the game was class participation. Dr. Bonds was a great professor. I walked away curious about the world around me, and that is the purpose of Philosophy.
Yes, you do have to participate to do well in his class. That means sitting in the front and putting in your opinion. Also showing up is good. Workload is easy and class is actually very interesting. He doesnt mind if you screw around on your computer, so long as youre willing to look things up for the class as well. Easy A.
Great teacher. Helpful. Attendance is mandoratory. Keep up with your work and get involved and it's an easy A.
Boring, Stupid, Easy. Take Bonds for an easy A. Avoid Bonds if you are interested in Philosophy. Dr. Bonds is boring. His philosophy is elementary at best. He doesn't understand science or scepticism. Every week you must type 350 word essay, and a 2000 word essay at the end. I doubt he reads them.
Dr. Bond's class is rather easy. The entirety of the class is focused on discussion of philosophical ideas. Be wary, however. If you do not enjoy writing this class is not for you. All though there are no tests at all, I found myself writing nearly 6,000 words, and I didn't even write on 4 of the weekly topics.
Great teacher. If a person didn't like the class it's because they didn't speak up and be part of the discussion. I know this sounds weird but I learned how to think in this class. Or rather I learned how to ask questions. I hate writing but this class was good. He gives no test. Easy and a good class. Take him.
Easy grader, just do the work and participate in class. Cheap textbook. the class has more of a discussion group fell to it. There are no test but there is a lot of writing required to demonstrate that you have learned and under stood the different concepts of Philosophy. Keep in mind that there are no right wrong answers.
Dr. Bonds is one of the best teachers I had. Easy A. We had to write essay for mid, final, and do one research paper. No tests at all, you do not need a book. Class is based on discussion between professor and students. Yes you do have to participate it is 20% of the grade.Highly recommended.
Easy and fun class. All you have is 1 400 word paper per week and a 2500 word paper at the end. Book is only $20 and you can talk about anything in the class.
I took world religions, Class was fun! Professor was awesome, I would recommend this class and professor to everyone.
Awesome instructor, all you have to do to get an A in his class is show up, participate, and write your papers. No tests just writing. Mr. Bonds keeps class interesting with class conversations and movie clips very educational and interesting. Would def take again.
Professor is great. He encourages participation and thinking. There are no tests for the class, but there are four papers over the course of the semester. Dr. Bonds is always there to help and gets back grades on the papers rather quickly.
Professor Bonds was awesome! Open discussion class, 4 papers (Mid-term, Mall Church, Research Paper and Final) and he's so laid back for a man with a doctorate. He's really kind and honestly really easy to please. The topical reviews are cool to hear from fellow students and if you have an imagination, and speak up, you'll do well! Highly recommend
Class was really interesting and as long as you do the assignments you'll get an A
If u want an easy A to sub a Humanities class take him. Dont buy the book you will not need it. All 5 assignments are done outside of class. U must attend just bring your computer n relax. Chime in every once n a while. DONT FORGET TO SIGN ROLL.
He's great. The assignments are a weekly journal and turn in a term paper at the end of semester, no tests, but a lot of writing. He states all work is due the last day of class, although he will grade it sooner if you choose to rurn them in early. Be warned it is easy to procrastinate. He is kind, clear, intelligent and grades very fairly.
he is a great teacher class is very easy only consists of 4 essays and class participation but if you dont do the essays you will fail
We have a few papers and class discussions but great teacher. Never had a test and didn't use the text book much so don't buy the textbook until your first class.
Very good teacher. He was intelligent and made the course material interesting. He encouraged a lot of debate and class discussion. The papers required were fun and made room for creativity. He was respectful to all of the students differences in class, which I think is important in a world religions course. One of my favorite classes.
Awful class. Did not lean a thing. No tests/quizzes/exams just alot of writing. Boring class as well!
Dr. Bonds was awesome! He is an awesome instructor to learn from that drew real world comparisons and engages class in discussion!
Class is extremely easy, though he doesn't actually teach anything. I learned close to nothing. He's a nice guy which is great. I also missed a ton of classes, which jeopardized nothing. Each class we watch youtube clips and videos, very boring but super easy.
Great prof, don't really use the book but can for the term paper. Lots of movie clips, 500 weekly word reflections. Encourages conversation, participation is important.
Take him!He is an excellent teacher that encourages class discussion instead of just lecturing power points.5 essays that are easy because his expectations are clear. no test/quiz he doesn't want you to stress through his class. Just make sure you participate in discussion and bring your weekly articles.
Don't go overboard on absences and you'll be fine. Weekly 400 word paper and a philosophy paper of your choice. He's pretty clear but will answer your questions. Class is mostly discussion with no tests/exams. Papers are turned in at YOUR convenience. Don't procrastinate. Used the book to supplement and read a few excerpts. Great guy! A+ Dr. Bonds!
Great teacher, liked his class and kept it very interesting.
Awesome professor, only four papers due for grades, no quizzes or tests. Allows re-writes for paper corrections since you only get four grades.
He's a great teacher. He doesn't give any tests. He just gave our class four paper and he wasn't a hard grader.
Great teacher ,the lectures are sometimes long but overall a great teacher. No final exam or quizzes just three papers. Awesome teacher.
If you don't enjoy writing or participating in intellectual and philosophical discussion and cant respect peers religious beliefs? This is not for you. However, If you want to expand on creative writing and get an easy A+ here's your chance. This class relies greatly on independent thought and participation. No testing, read at will. 3 large essay
I had a bad experience with this teacher. We didn't learn anything, and never opened the book. He just put on youtube and movies the entire class. The essay assignments made no sense, and you're given zero direction for writing them. He does not seem to be knowledgeable about the class subject. When asked questions, he can't answer them. Hated it
Excellent class to take. You will not be disapointed
He is extremely boring. Expects weekly papers of four hundred words on random bull. I didd all my work perfectly and still got a B in the class. Worst professor I ever took. Do not buy the text book, we never used it
Great professor!
Dr. Bonds is very charismatic and makes lectures enjoyable. He assigns weekly 400-word reflection papers, articles to bring in for class discussion, and a final term paper of 2500 words. He gives you the notes so you don't have to write anything down and the films he shows are interesting. Nothing is due until the end of the semester. He's great!
He is a very sweet person. Class is really easy. Assignments are not tough at all. Disclaimer: TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME. He seems to really dislike when students hand in late assignments and at times he won't even accept them. Class was interesting. Lots of opportunities for extra credit in every class. Take advantage.
Amazing professor. Easy class. Lecture heavy, with weekly reflection based on lecture. No quizzes, no homework, final paper of 2500 words. Very sweet man. The 3 hour night class can be boring, but he never keeps you the whole time. Highly recommend.
Keeps the class nice and simple on the topic of world religion. Allows students to work for their credit!
Never even opened the textbook. Your grade is based off of 5 large projects, that take maybe an hour a piece to complete. SO EASY
Four papers (min 750 words) due all semester. Youtube videos about religion are expected to be brought in but more than half the class didn't. Almost always ended class at least 15 min early (probably because no one brought videos) and always ended the class with a movie clip that *sorta* related to the topic. (Truman show, Book of Eli, etc)
Dr. Bonds is a really sweet man. His class is made up of four main assignments; midterm, mall experience, final, and research paper. No tests. Although his lectures put you to sleep, I think he's really great.
Such a great professor. No tests or quizzes but you do have to write four papers. The research paper is killer 2500 words but he is so worth it. One of the best teachers I took this semester... I would take him again in a heart beat
What a great professor. Absolutely one of my favorite. All you have to do for this class is show up write a 2500 words research essay, and 3 other 750 words essays which is supper easy I got 100% in this class. Make sure you participate by sharing a video.
Great teacher easy A if you pay attention, gives zeros if you are rude and fall a sleep in class. very cool smart guy
If you don't like really heavy lectures with a professor that doesn't go straight to the point, Professor Bonds is not the one for you. Although class participation is really important, most of the class is centered in pointless information given by him. I didn't pay attention to the lectures, just did all the assignments and still got a 100%.
Take him if you want an easy A but be warned he is the epitome of boredom. I didn't learn one thing about religion, just witnessed him ramble on about nothing and lose his train of thought and show us random videos that were off topic. You literally have to fight the urge to get up and run out its that bad. Assignments are easy though & no final.
He uses a lot of video examples. And beware of LOTS and LOTS of handouts. I think we got over 20.
Be prepared to write a lot.
