This class is HARD!!!! DO NOT worry if you fail, you will not be the first and you certainly will not be the last, be on your P's and Q's at all times. STUDY! STUDY! STUDY!!!
Well to me he is kinda hard but he is also very helpful he gives us a lot of homework and they be so hard but yea he does make u study b/c if u don't u going to fail
If you don't study he won't help and you will fail clearly.
He is very helpful, but you have to be interested and prepared. Go to his office and get help. He breaks things down and he is a good teacher.
great teacher dnt try to play him or else you will end up with the lower hand of an F str8 up...he tutors his students
He will definitely mold, prepare, and motivate you to study Chemistry!!! He doesn't give you anything, you have to work hard to earn the grade!!! Trust me, it will pay off! I learn many valuable lessons from Dr. Edwards. A quote that I will never forget from him, "YOU GOTTA STUDY, RIGHT"
He makes it clear in class but not clear enough for you to go home and understand alone.

if ur a pharmacy major i believe u should take his class!! Stay on top of your work..read ahead and take note if not he will fail u... but that will be ur fault cuz u were messin around

He really cares about his students but he doesn't play!
Real jerk.. he doesn't show you steps or how he got the answer to a problem. Just don't take him.
This is a beginners class, he is so so. If you have a grasp of chem, then take him. If not Please be aware he will stick it to ya. SOOOOO GOOD LUCK!!!!!
HE'S VERY STERN AND DOESN'T PLAY. NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN U WON'T GET IT IN CLASS, BUT U CAN ALWAYS MAKE AN APPOINTMENT OR GO TO THE HELP SESSIONS. HE WILL TRY TO BUST YOUR ASS!!! HE'S NOT AS MEAN AS HE PUTS OFF IN CLASS HE'S ACTUALLY AN ALRIGHT PERSON IN HIS OFFICE HOURS AND HELP SESSIONS. (HE SOMETIMES MISSES HIS APPOINTMENTS.)
He'll help you. You just have go to his office hours and study sessions. If you do that, he'll keep you in mind at the end of the semester. He get 2 thumbs up.
You teach yourself out of the book. He will help you but make you feel dumb. He goes fast and you cannot miss. Lots of suprise quizzes and assinment and tests. He is an intimidaing personality if you are shy.
VERY HARD TEACHER
He tries to work with you. Just do your work and he'll work with you. Very good at his job.
He will make u work for a good grade. Will fail cuz he is getting paid to do it anyway. Just make sure u go to his office hours all da time and tutoring lab cuz he makes a note of dat and will consider bringing ur grade up if u on da line
He's a very hard teacher, he works in a very fast pace. you will teach yourself out of the book. I dont recommend this teacher.
He is not a very good teacher, he will teach at a very fast pace just as the others said. He doeas however, have study sessions that are supposed to help but they dont. If you can take someone else I strongly recommend that you do so. Take Nelly Mateeva if you can, she is very hard to understand but always willing to help you both inside and outsid

you have to work hard, but it pays off in the end. if he sees that you're trying, he'll try to pass you
good teacher!! but u must work hard and study to pass his class..very helpful!!he may go off on u from time to time but its only b/c he wants to push u to do your best.
he wants to make sure that when you leave his class you know more than what you did when you came in!
He offers more help sessions than any other teacher and as long as you do all your work and allow him to see that you are putting forth and effort you should get atleast a C in the class. If you earn a B he will more than likely give you an A.
just ok
Dr. Edwards is tough, you learn but he moves at a fast pace
He's a real good teacher especially for chemistry majors. Kids I know who were failing his class knew more than professors in other classes. Those who don't like him usually just dont do their work. If you listen, read the chapter, and do the questions like he says, then you should have no problem. Plus he offers a lot of outside help.
He expects a lot of effort from his students but will give you the help that you need, even if it means creating study sessions outside of class time. e does move at a fast pace
Most people do not like Dr. Edwards and that is because they did not do there work. If you show up to class, do you work, go to his office hours and show effort he will work for you. If you do all the above things he will work with you on your grades.
This class is VERY hard in general IF you DONT study!! when i say STUDY i mean...two hours a day! but, dr.edwards is a VERY nice man. he will help you if you need help until you understand as long as you study! he is the best teacher you could have.
he is a hard teacher. but if you show him you are trying your best, then he will atleast give you a C
If you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, dump them and marry your chemistry book! You can pass if you study study study and if you don't understand something then be sure to go to his office hrs and ask! It'll really help. He can teach but he goes fast so you have to keep up. Keep your nose in the book and don't slack. Be ready for anything!
Dr. Edwards is a professor for scholars!!! not ordinary students. If you want to have a solid foundation in Chemistry I would strongly recommend you to take him.
Is a very hard but good teacher. The only negative thing about Dr. Edwards is that he goes extremely fast so you have to read ahead of time if you want to keep up. You MUST study everyday if you want to pass because what you earn is what you get.
IM TELLIN U NOW..TRUST ME!! IM NOT TELLIN U WAT SOMEBOY TOLD ME IM TELLIN U WAT I KNO!!...DONT TAKE THIS MAN..HE IS D REASON PLENTY OF PEOPLE R BEHIND 1YEAR N D PHARMACY PROGRAM HE'S HORRIBLE HE GOES 2 FAST U DONT LEARN A THING ITS A WASTE OF WAKIN UP N WALKIN DOWN D HILL 2 BL PERY I HATED IT! TRY BEREKET AKA DR. B HE'S DA BEST CHEM TEACHER NO LIE!
I took the honors course... The guy's completely incompetent but if you know what you're doing (or took the AP course in high school) then you'll do fine. Don't depend on him to teach though. Take notes, get a tutor, but DON'T depend on him to make sure you get it. otherwise you'll fail. Miserably ^_^
I had him for lab. do all the labs and pre labs. even if you dont understand it write in stuff and pretend like you do i dont kno a tap of chm but i got a B in his class. still try on the work tho. it will pay off in the long run.
I got a B in his class, but this guy is an arrogant @$$. I have never seen a professor get off on failing students - but this guy does. He goes hella fast and doesn't teach. Just stands up there and runs through the book. By far THE WORST teacher I've ever had. You won't learn anything and in the end he gives grades if he likes you.
He was the most helpful teacher I have had a FAMU. He had study sessions at least 4 times a week and sometimes weekends as well. Everyone takes the same test regardless of teacher. If you fail it's your fault. Chem is hard..not the teacher. If you want an A in Chem 2 you need to know the material very well and do at least 2 hrs of Chem everyday.
Dr. Edwards is good at the labs.. He really doesn't care on what u put on the labs as long as its done. He teaches fast so u should know chemistry cus he will expect u to know it. I would reccomend him to students who have proper study habits.
You wont learn anything in class ..so prepare to teach yourself or learn CHM from somebody else to pass. Just take somebody else...
This is a teach yourself class which allows him to fly through the material. Therefore it's impossible to learn anything and you're rolling the dice in an attempt to pass. He has study sessions but what's the use when he simply does a million problems on the board that students don't know the basics to. Great guy personally but don't take his class
Edwards isn't hard at all, but it will require doing reading on your own to supplement his lectures. He doesn't work at a slow place in the class, but if you have questions he WILL clarify. His mission isn't to fail you, but if you don't care about the class, neither will he. 1045 requires work no matter who you take. I liked Edwards. :)
He honestly isn't as bad as people make him seem. As long as you read the chapters ahead of class and ask questions you'll do ok. I got a B and I'm not really good in chemistry.
Chemistry is difficult period. But you have to take someone, I didn't like his class because everything was so jumbled around. Try someone else or just study your butt off oh and do the mastering chm online.
Read the book, do the online homework, and work the examples from class and the book. As long as you put in some honest effort, he will help you pass.
Dr. Edwards is a good teacher in that he actually cares that you understand chemistry. If you read the chapters before coming to class, do mastering chem problems, book problems, and ask questions in class than you will succeed. He does cover material quickly, but mainly that's because students don't ask questions.
Someone told me not to take his class and I did. I wish I would have listened!! Cool guy but the class is just hard and VERY time consuming. He goes too fast, also. Take him at your own risk.
Dr. Edwards is one of the realest teachers I know! The first time I took his class I earned a D the second time I made a C. Being successful in this class is all about you and your study habits. Dr. Edwards will answer and explain any question you have but you have to have questions! It's imperative to your success.
well he isnt that bad, as long as you attend office hours and read the book, you will pass his class. READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOK. you will be fine, his goal isnt to fail you but he isnt gonna hand you everything either. work hard, teach yourself, and if you dont understand something, just ask him he's super cool in office hours.
Don't take him. He's very hard and he's a liar when it comes to MyChem Lab. He goes very fast and he expects you to know the material off the back.He gives a lot of quizzes online and most of the time the material on the quiz was not covered in class. He's a down to earth guy but his class is about life lessons and rarely on Chemistry.
I think he is a great but challenging teacher. To pass this class you need to read and study way before the test. ASK QUESTIONS!!!! But make sure you read because he will ask you questions as he give you answers. He has office hours and he actually helps there. Bring book to class everyday. You cant be lazy if you only want to take this class once!
Not hard, but not easy. Came late for most of the semester. Forgets to do things when you ask him, but he does try to help his students. His office hours were the hours where he was in the tutoring lab. He said to read the book and only come to class with questions and that was true most of the time. Rarely really taught.
This class only had 2 test, the midterm and final, make sure you do the pre lab, lab and post lab because he actually grade it for the 1st half of the semester. The 2nd half he just want to make sure you're doing it. Otherwise, great professor and he lets you leave class as soon as the lab is done, I think I'm getting an A.
Took him during the summer and he was the best professor ever. Attendance counts but he isn't harsh about it. Jokes with the students. Makes sure you understand as long as you read first. Gives testing advice. Will help whenever he can. Use the book and study his notes and you'll pass. Gives extra credit but not alot. Would take him again!!
He's a cool person, but a terrible teacher. I am an A student and struggled in his class to pull out a B at the end. He literally just goes through powerpoint slides super fast and doesn't explain anything. He'll do practice problems and won't tell you the answer or he'll move on before you can finish. Tutoring and khan academy helped me more
His lectures are unnecessary due to the fact that he does not know what's on the test. He gets off of topic very easily and doesn't really teach. You will have to teach yourself and go to many study sessions.
Don't believe the ratemyprofessor hype, Edwards is actually a really good professor, HE KNOWS HIS STUFF he just expects you to work and put in your own effort. Don't take him if you want your hand held... he expects you to come to class prepared so read up on your lab manual. If you go to office hours he will help you but bring specific questions
Do NOT do Not Do NOT!!! Do not take Edwards if you don't have a background with chemistry. He doesn't teach, he uploads videos and worksheets of material for you to cover outside of class and inside of class he asks does anyone have any questions. I withdrew from the class because I refused to fail as a teachers expense. DO NOT TAKE HIM I REPEAT!
AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS! Im pretty smart, My gpa is a 3.5 so I can handle tough professors. However, this man is the worst professor to ever step foot on this campus. He doesnt teach, hes very rude, and he doesnt care about the students. I only passed with a B because I studied and taught myself everything. Dont waste your time
He Always Goes Off Topic Tells you To Read The Book only explains things when students ask questions always talks about how the school is not helping us learn bad at lectures
He gave everybody 100s on hw & quiz 1-10 bc a lot of people didnt have the book. Gave retakes on exams. Didnt have a final only retake on exam 3. He only starts taking attendance if a lot of people dont show up. Make sure he knows your name! As long as you pass the test youll be fine with a A or B average.
Please dont believe the hype. Dr. Edwards doesnt give you a grade for nothing. You will work for it but youll actually learn. Hes the best professor I have had at FAM and genuinely cares for his students. Better than the other 1025 teachers by far. He also has a few options for extra credit but dont expect an easy A.
He definitely cares about his student. There is almost no class work just mastering homework and test. You do best in his class if you watch the video lectures before coming to class. Its not an easy so just be ready to learn.
Professor Edwards truly wants his student to understand the material. Come to class with the lesson already read and with questions prepared. He will take the time to answer your questions. Make sure that you go to his office hours so he gets to know you and you will do fine.
He's the actual personification of the phrase "tough love". This man is going to absolutely push your buttons, but it's honestly to better you.
Mr. Edwards is a chill dude, however, his teaching during covid kind of sucks, mainly because his handwriting gets us lost. If you go to study sessions with a guy named Will G. you will definitely pass, also a lot of Mylab and Mastering HW. He does give a few extra credit and curves test.
Professor Edwards is an okay teacher. I took him for Chem1030Lab he does not really teach but he grades easy on labs and is pretty helpful when it comes to extending assignment due dates. his tests are okay they align with the labs. and he is also good w responding to emails
If I could rate him a 0 I would. Our first exam was only 1 hour and we had to show work for every question and upload it afterwards. He does NOT know how to teach. I recommend joining tutoring sessions because all he does is show examples he doesn't even explain the work. He is very CARELESS! If he is the last professor for this course GOOD LUCK!
Let me start off by saying if I could give this professor a 0, I would. Dr. Edwards does not oblige any discrepancies whether you are at fault or not. Throughout the class lectures, he just gives multiple examples without explaining the topic he's referring to or helping his students understand anything. I have a book to write however, I am limited
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. ONLY TAKE HIS CLASS IF ITS YOUR ONLY OPTION. DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS CLASS!! He doesnt even teach properly and even then the same material taught are not on the tests. This professor was my only option for this course so if this is you, I am so sorry. He has more concern with students cheating than concern with his students actually learning the material. One of the worst professors ive had.
Take only if hes your only option. All I can say is god bless if you do take him !
I dont recommend him for this class; hes more concerned about students cheating and constantly talk about cheating but doesnt fully teach the course. Hes always off topic and always loses his focus on the class at hand. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
STAYYYYY AWAAAYYYYY FROOMMM THIIISSS MAN AT ALL COST!!!! This man does not know how to teach. His handwriting is atrocious and his powerpoints are useless. The only way to pass is if you study ALOT, go through his lecture recordings, and go to WILL'S study session. This man is terrible.
His communication skills are horrible! He doesnt respond to canvas messages or his emails! The only thing he truly is concerned about is his students cheating. His exams are so hard for no reason. Most exam material does not match mastering or pre tests. He lies about curving exams at the end. And he doesnt give extra credit, Do not take this guy
Dont take this man. His exams are so difficult and doesnt align with homework or pretest. He lies about assigning extra credit for mastering and curving exams at end of semester. If your not passing by the withdrawal period just withdraw! Only time he responds to emails is when the dean is CC in the email so you basically have to threaten him.
THIS MAN IS SO WORRIED ABOUT HIS STUDENTS CHEATING RATHER THAN THEM UNDERSTANDING MATERIAL. He is so extra. Not only are exams on respondus monitor (which isnt a problem) but he also wants you turn in handwritten work for every question or your exam grade will be a 0.. as if we arent already taking exams on camera. He does entirely too much.
Only thing good about him is he extends my lab homework.
Dr. Edwards is actually a great professor and does care about making sure everyone understands the material. During his lectures, he tends to zoom through the chapters and his handwriting isn't that great but it's legible. His quizzes and exams (unless you study) aren't too hard, just very long and tedious. Read the chapters and show your work!
Dr. Edwards literally held one zoom class to tell us about the class workload and we had no more zooms after that. He posted our 7 labs week by week and we completed by the end of the week with a quiz. Literally one of the easiest summer courses I had to take thus far. Final exam was just a reflection of the labs. Easy A course for sure!
Took the course Spring 2021, ABSOLUTELY hated the course. He cares more about a single student not cheating than students actually learning and understanding the material. He grades things last second and doesn't respond until you involve the dean. Avoid at all cost if possible, if you have no choice dedicate time out of class to study a lot.
Edwards really cares about students in my opinion. he does go through chapters fast though because he expects you to be studying & reading the book. he REALLY wants you to ask questions during class. thats the only way he will slow down. he was very helpful at the end of semester he gave everyone full credit for hw/quizzes (20%) of final grade.
great teacher, helps you really understand
Professor Edwards was a tough teacher. in order to get an A, read before class and watch the pre-lecture vids which were long, then go to class prepared to ask questions. Complete the hw and that should be enough to understand the concepts. He is a teacher that works with students that work with him. He does move fast but ask for help.
He is a great professor, come to class with questions and make sure to read the chapter the before hand and you will be fine, his class isn't difficult you just have to put in the work.
Great Professor. Really cares about how his students do inside and outside of the classroom. Hilarious guy as well and will really work with you to help you learn the information and ultimately pass the class.
Decent professor, but you'll spend the majority of your time teaching yourself the concepts to understand. however, he is really helpful to those who as for it and encourages you to work harder. attending the study sessions will be the only way you pass.
TAKE PROFESSOR EDWARDS!! Chem is a hard class in general so the subject itself isn't gonna be easy. I had Edwards for CHM 1025,1045, and soon for 1046!! He does a good job of teaching ESPECIALLY in 1025! I had an A & I loved it! CHM 1046 was harder & I would've ended up w/ a C but his grading scale is curved & he adding some extra points at the end
Dr. edwards cares a lot about his students and those who make an effort. Hes big on reading the book to help understand material and it does help a lot. GO TO HIS RECITATIONS AND TUTORING!! he can be tough, but as long as u show up for class and try hard in the class u will be alright
Edwards is the worst teacher. He writes on the board with awful handwriting, he constantly bashes and blames the class for not understanding when he doesn't take more than 10 minutes to explain one things .Instead of helping you he will blame you for not understanding because he "deserves to be teacher of the year" according to him. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Dr. Edwards has the potential to be a great professor, but his lectures move at the speed of light. If you haven't read the entire chapter before class (which are always very lengthy) then you'll be very lost during lecture. He does curve your grade at the end of the semester. If you have good study habits, then you'll be fine
Dr. Edwards only required us to do 5 labs, and each lab he basically walks you through the process. As long as you complete the pre-lab, lab report, and post-lab for each lab, you'll get an A.
He doesn't have class every week, maybe every 2 weeks. Do the pre-lab post-lab and data sheet every class and you'll be fine. there is a quiz at the start of the semester but no tests except one at the very end that was rather easy. Very easy class to get a passing grade in.
I recommend Dr.Edwards for chem lab NOT chem lecture. BEWARE FOR LECTURE. His lab is an easy "A" but the final is challenging. Make sure to do the pre labs and post labs because they are graded on accuracy and he collects them at the beginning of class. The lab reports are graded on completion. He's a funny professor.
Make sure to purchase a lab coat and goggles before the first day of class. The lab book is a MUST! He walks the class through all the labs and labs are done mostly in groups. Labs are every other week and do not last the whole 3 hours. Most of the time, you will get out of lab early. Easy professor for lab and little work.
