New to teaching, and it took him a week or so to get his bearings. Lectures/Notes are interesting. Has class discussions on controversial topics which are fun. His tests were fair/easy. Assigns questions for each class about various topics (will take late work). He made US Government/Politics less stodgy than I thought they'd be. I learned a lot.

His personality is very pleasant but he is rarely prepared for class and knows little about history,which he clearly announces. He is not very organized and has poor teaching skills. He forgets things and shares biased opinions about areas in government. Maybe he needs more experience. I do not recommend him if you want to understand government.

This class is great. If u disagree with anything, why don't u speak up? He encourages it & ALWAYS asks for students' opinions. He has a great knowledge of politics & cares enough to answer all questions honestly. His teaching style keeps your attention & gets you involved with each lesson. Assignments are clear & simple; he just wants you to THINK!

Professor Helligso is a great teacher. His lectures are about the readings from the book, and he has group discussions the rest of the class time. He is a great professor to take to learn more about US Gov't. He accepts opinions and views about anything from anyone and never disagrees. He makes the subject fun

Professor H is Awesome! He prefers discussion to lecture and if you write down everything he does, and study everything he tells you to then you will ace his class! He did include an essay but it was easy and he will keep explaining things if you keep asking. This class definitely makes me want to take another government class by him!!

Professor H is the best! He teaches about REAL world issues and ties in current events with the subject matter. My favorite class by far! There is one paper but it is very easy to do! He is fun, and I STRONGLY reccomend him if you do not like the cut and dry version of govt. Easy on the eyes as well ;)

Dont buy book just copy or read the article and do your HW one page doubles spaced opinion(not every week). 5pg report just do it gives you 2nd chance to get an A on it..2 test..Teaches you how the Gov Relay works.. LOVE IT..He wants you to understand and get an A+...Shy 1st day or 2

This guy can be pretty hype sometimes, but for the most part he's awesome. Only thing about this guy is...his grading isn't clear at all..sure were learning and it's all good but at the end of the day do we get an A?

He was an alright professor. I found the subject of the class boring, but he made it interesting to learn. Not much homework in class, but the little you do get is easy. The midterm and final are not hard at all because he tells you whats on it. Study what he tells you and you will pass.

Easy class. Mostly lecture. There is very little homework and only two tests. Class is pretty interesting and you get a lot of points for just being in class. so don't skip!

Prof. Hellisgo is adorable. he's kinda shy on the first few days. listen in class to his lectures and you'll do great. its best if you email him your questions. if you want an easy a take him

He is the best teacher ever !!!His classes are not boring at all....take notes in class(important).Most tests are multiple choice and he will let you know what to study before test!!!!LOVE IT ...If this was not enough he is super HOT !!!!

I thought i would be completely lost in this class cause i have absolutly no knowledge of government. He suprisingly made it really interesting and i learned a lot. The only thing i would say that was a problem for me is that sometimes he wouldnt show up for class without sending out an email or anything. it sucked too because my class was early. :

I thought that this class was SO awesome! He was very helpful with everything. There is a paper that we have to write, first a rough draft, that he gives pointers on, then the final draft, and when he gives tests, he tells you what exactly is going to be on it...all you have to do is study, he gives you everything you need. He's pretty hot too...

Jesse is an awesome teacher! I learned sooo much. Just go to class, take notes and youll do fine on the tests. He even tells you in the class before what EXACTLY youre gonna be tested on. You can tell he is passionate about what he teaches. He's a bit of a dork..but it's really cute =)

Good professor, knows his stuff. You will actually learn how the US government runs...teaches politics equally regardless of what your views are. About 2 test, a paper, couple class participation activities, overall you can get an A... IF YOU WRITE ALL HIS NOTES AND STUDY..guarantee you will learn here. I never cared about politics and now I DO!!!

I enjoyed his class very much because unlike most government teachers he made it fun to participate in class. Needless to say I'll think twice about any government issues thanks to this class.

Professor H. Is awesome. His class was a lot of fun and he made it very interesting. It's easy if you just go to class and pay attention... His tests are exactly what he says they will be, no suprises.

An awesome and great professor! Obviously knows the subject. 3 tests, one paper, no quizes. It is recommended that you take notes and study them along with the study guide and you are garanteed to pass the tests. Attendance is mandatory becasue a lot of material is covered. If you are a no show than you will not pass the tests or the class.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! he's so passionate ab what he's teaching amd explains everything on a level everyone understands. I have the book but never opened it and still got an A! attendance is manditory otherwidse you miss alot iof the info. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE THIS PROFFESSOR!!!!! you won't regret it if you do!

Jesse is extremely passionate about politics and it shows. He is a great teacher that really wants his students to learn. To those saying he is unclear, the only way to not ace this class is to not pay attention to his lectures and not study what he tells you to study before each test -- in other words, you're just being lazy.

One big paper and a couple of small assignments. TAKE NOTES -Tests are directly from the notes (book? eh). EASY, but extremely USEFUL. You learn SO MUCH. My favorite class ever, I still use his notes! His method is beyond effective. We need more professors like prof. Helligso --Don't underestimate him, he's FANTASTIC. Recommend 110%, youd be lucky!

The most amazing professor at Valencia!! his class is super easy he tells you exactly what to do. as long as you take notes you will ace all the tests. No book needed! makes class SO interesting and made me like government! he doesnt look as smart as he is, do not underestimate him! this will be your favorite class of the semester!!

Does a great job lecturing. He is very educated in the subject. Yet he goes off topic a lot. He tells you what's going to be on the test, mostly everything he lectures on. 2 test, 1 paper, some homework. Do not skip class, attendance counts towards your grade.

Professor H is simply amazing. He helps each student to pass the course by telling us exactly what to know for the tests. I failed this class before but with Prof. H. I got an A. Plus he tells us whats currently going on. The class was entertaining and, if you study, easy to pass. I didn't even need to buy the book.

Very smart guy, made me like government and teaches his students ways to get around the law. NO book usage, but why even need it, he makes everything clear,one research paper and exams that he gives you the topic to study about. I like the way he dresses: shirt, tie and sandals making him seem laid back

Best proffesor I've had at Valencia so far. Made government a very interesting topic.Is very clear on what he expects and helps you ALOT. the only difficult thing he has in his class is a five page paper but he lets you do a draft and tells you EXACTLY what to fix before you hand in the final copy, so it makes it hard to get a bad grade.100% Take!!

This teacher knows his stuff. He sometimes gets off topic to inform you what really happend in historic events or whats going on right now. His tests go right along with the notes, so write everything down and you'll score high. He shows great passon for teaching. There were only 3 assignments along with tests.

VERY knowledgeable prof. and very enthusiastic about the subject. Be sure to take excellent notes, for his tests are based on literally everything he says. 2 tests and a very challenging research paper. If you attend class, listen and take good notes you will be fine. This is not a class you want to miss or you will fall behind!

Learned a lot in this class, and the structure/teaching style was such that I didn't need to re-study so much. The lectures are basically a study guide. Not much homework, and the homework you do have is simple. Got a 96% on every test somehow despite not studying too intense. One 5-page paper, that was guide-lined out for us... Take this class imo

Incredibly great class. His bias is an interesting one, very insightful. Highly recommend for anyone whether it is a required class or not. Chances are you will not regret it.

Hes so enthusiastic that you dont even know your soaking everything in.He will make politics totally make sense and even though he is biased it wont affect your learning.The tests arent easy but like I said youll already know everything so they wont pose a problem and his outlines are good. Definitely take him, changes your thinking for the better.

easily one of the best classes ive taken at Valencia I HIGHLY recommend anyone taking this course. he describes and explains our entire political system so easily, you'll wonder why you've never learned it before

One of the best classes I've taken. He's incredibly intelligent, hilarious, & keeps your attention. No book use at all, just lectures. Tests are challenging but come straight from your notes and he tells you the essays beforehand. Theres a big research paper but gives you two tries for an A. If you want to learn a lot, take him..he's adorable too.

Mildly tough but fair. His lectures are enlightening and interesting. The tests are not very difficult and have short answers. One large paper to write with three very small ones.

Probably one of the best professors I have had at Valencia. He makes learning American Gov't really interesting. He kind of veers off course subject at times but teaches students what it currently happening in our government. He indirectly expresses the importance of getting involved and clarifies certain myths. Great teacher.

Great class. Only time you use the book is for the couple writing assignments which aren't too hard. He really enjoys his topic and makes it a lot more fun to learn. Tests are really easy as long as you show up to class and pay attention to the lectures.

First off, I have never had a government teacher that actually taught me well, and made me interested in a subject that I previously hated. DO NOT BUY TEXT BOOK. There is no use. There are 3 tests, the third one is the final, and he gives a great review for all. One research paper, but he makes it easy for you to get an A. SHOW UP TO CLASS!! EASY!!

I took his online summer class. Class was very easy. Every question on the weekly quizzes came from the practice quizzes on the textbook website. All you really needed to study for was the midterm and final, that was taken in the testing center. He was horrible at returning phone calls or emails. The textbook wasn't even needed. I used the power-points and the norton website to study. Also had a research paper due, that was fairly easy. Easy class and easy A.

one 7 page research paper based on an article, blacks civil rights and women's suffrage movement. tells you exactly what you need to know for tests. don't buy the book, if you want to read it, the library rents it out. he made government so interesting i wanted to actually vote, he really is passionate and loves his job which makes learning fun.

He is just the best. You will enjoy every second of this class. I took summer B at Valencia and it was a 3 hours class I will tell you that I even wanted another 3 hours with him. He is just the best

Very passionate, very knowledgeable in the subject. Enjoyable class. Highly recommend taking onsite course rather than online as he does not return emails or calls if you have questions. Weekly quizzes from book. Gives 1 mid term, 1 final (he gives review prior), 1 paper. I finished the class with much more interest & knowlege in the subject!

He explains things very thoroughly to make sure that everyone understands. I really enjoyed this course. Would recommend the onsite course. Gives 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 paper, and just online quizzes for the rest of the time that are simple and you can use notes or the textbook, but if you pay attention, you don't really need them.

Very thorough Prof. He is very honest and will share his opinions even if they contradict yours. He goes into detail about everything which is good. There were about 4 quizzes in his US GOVT class and 2 major exams, mid+final, which will be medium-level difficulty if you studied well.

Great teacher with an in depth course that actually teaches you something. I've told all my friends to take his class because he keeps each class interesting and the tests and assignments are moderate. He has quizzes online a few tests and a 4-5 page double spaced paper. All around great teacher.

This is the BEST Govt professor you can take at Valencia. He is HIGHLY educated and teaches you things you need to know about our govt. Very clear and as long as you take notes and attend class daily, its very informative. he reviews test thoroughly also.

Great professor. The information is informative and he makes if fun. I enjoyed his lectures. In order to do well you must take good notes and attend class. He takes a while to grade things, but other than that, I have no complaints. I have recommended his class to many people! TAKE HIS CLASS!

He is one of the better professors at Valencia. We hardly used the book in class at all and a good but of what we learned will not be in any book at all. You will need to take notes. His lectures are interesting so it is easier to pay attention. He gave us homework the very first day but it was just about the only homework we had all semester.

Great professor. I learned so much from his class. I took a short course so the classes were 3 hours long 2 days a week, but there was never a dull moment. His lectures are fantastic and keep you awake and interested. You have to study for the tests but he tells you everything that will be on them. Highly Recommend.

One of the best Government professors i have ever had. All his tests are done from his lecture notes so make sure you take copious and detailed notes during class. He makes government fun and relates what you learn to what is going on in the world today. 2 Exams, one midterm and one final, not cumulative. 4-5 page paper and 4 online quizzes.

I can honestly say this was the best class I've ever taken. He's so enthusiastic it makes the class exciting. We didn't use the book at all. He tells you what is on the exams, and yes it's a lot but if you study you can easily get an A. I would take any class he'd teach even if it was on a subject I hated.

His lectures are full of his personalpolitical views. Sometimes his drivel was unbearable to listen to. He presents his opinions as if historical fact. Yells REALLY loudly when passionate during a lecture, can hurt the ears. Otherwise, I actually like this guy and learned a lot about history. Prepares you for tests, sticks to syllabus, is funny.

Great class, I learned so much more than I thought I would. He yells sarcastically, and makes stupid jokes which makes lectures so entertaining you don't realize you are learning. Prof. Helligso gave me interest in government I had never had before. He was relatively easy going, but when he really got into lecturing he yells a lot. People with high anxiety might not want to take him. His tests are tough, but his lectures are worth it.

I got 100 on the class 2 test straight from the notes he Will specifically Tell you what to study so you know exactly what is on the test. Great at lecturing makes the class interesting points for attendance. Online quizes one research paper. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK you Will not need it ever !

Prof. Helligso was one of the most fun and interesting teachers I've had the chance to take. The lectures are fun, and most importantly interesting. Even if you don't care at all about government, you'll still find what you're hearing intriguing. Make sure you take LOTS of notes. He tells you exactly what's on the tests, quizzes are open note.
