gets off track, but tells good stories

lectures are boring ZzZzZ way off topic on & on! he looks like jerry springer!
Gets way off on lecture! Very borring, but nice guy.
Nice guy, gets off topic, just make sure you study for his tests. You'll do fine
2nd Exam is hard! Too many foreign words to memorize. Nice guy though.
I feel like I know more about relgions b/c his stories stick with you.
great guy, easy tests, fun class
attend class for notes...easy tests
He's a great understanding guy!
gets off the subject quickly funny guy does look like jerry springer go to class
need help, he's quick to provide. personal stories help explain concepts. A+
Great teacher. Expects good work and well thought ideas in his work book. Also entertaining!
Funny guy but gets off the subject very fast. Go to class, take notes, and STUDY STUDY STUDY!

lots of busy work, but always lets you turn in work later then actual due date
VERY easy but a lot of busy work and memorization. if you don't mind memorizing a lot
Cool guy. Does not care if work is late. Tests are hard though. But good instructor. Reccomend the class.
easy class, but you really only benefit if your a slacker.
he was very easy and lets you turn everything in late. just pay attention and study the review sheets and you'll get the easiest A here
he's a funny guy, very easy going. let you turn in workbooks late. three exams, no final. gives you a study guide, memorize it and you'll do find on his exams. memorization is key in this class.
Took the class to learn about religion. He ended up telling stupid stories about his life, BORING. I went into the class clueless about most religions and walked out the same. Repeats himself day to day, cant hear, maybe he should just retire
He's a very nice man. I think his tests are easy if you study the reviews he gave you. 3 multiple choice midterms. No finals. 2 workbooks but he grades very easy on it. Got an A! yayers!
A sweet old man, Thomas did tend 2 go off the subject & talk about his life a lot, but he did lecture okay. The class is mostly all memorization for the tests, but he allows late wk, & is not a hard grader. I liked him as a person but not really the class
This guy is deaf, but he's pretty cool, talks about his wife a lot. tests are pretty hard, but if you study the terms you will do okay. really boring class though.
He's a really nice teacher. Study the terms on the study guides he gives you and you'll do fine. Three midterms, three workbooks (you can basically BS all of these). He's deaf...
Hes such a sweet old man. Class not mand. but should go and take notes because thats what he tests on. Tests are easy if u study.
This class was an easy A. If you make flashcards on the study guides then you will do fine on the tests. 3 workbooks that are opion-based. I recommend going to class cause that is what his tests are based on. He tells funny stories but gets off track...
Really sweet old man... I enjoyed the stories he told more than I enjoyed learning bout religions... & it's sooo cute when he talks bout his wife!!
nice old man
Funniest teacher ever!!! go to class and take notes word for word on the vocab. make flashcards for the tests and you have an A. don't worry about missing class either, but you might as well go for the entertainment. This guy has stories like no other!!!
great to listen to, easy to pass if you know his list of terms, all around a good teacher to take
A great person, awesome teacher overall. He seems to have led an exciting and adventurous life and shares his personal stories with the class, which are usually very humorous. Going to class is optional, but study the terms on his guides to do well A++++.

Tells interesting stories, make sure you take lots of notes.
very boring and he is deaf; just memorize all the terms and do the work books and you'll pass
boring lectures that i don't get a lot out of. he's deaf and gets a little bit grumpy when you ask questions. it's definitely easy to pass tho. i haven't learned anything and don't recommend this class.
Very easy instructor. Exams are a bit difficult but know the study guide and pass the exams. A little deaf but willing to try to understand what is being said. Hearing aid helps a lot! Lectures range from ok to interesting. Very willing to help stude
Very boring class. Tests are allright, but you gotta go to class to get his definitions.
very sweet old man. but he cant hear a thing!go to class and get his notes for the review sheet and you will do fine. dont rely soley on the book to go over the review bc it wont cover everything. hes very helpful and will do what he can to help you.
This is the only time Ratemyprof.com has ever let me down. HORRIBLE teacher!!! Completely deaf. Impossible to interact with. However if you flunk a test he offers extra credit to help you out. Entire course is only 300 pts 3 tests 76pts each and 3 hw 24pt
Nice guy. It's true: he's deaf. Go to class and study hard for the tests. Homework is easy but time consuming.
This guy is nice, and he tries to make the class as easy as possible. does not take roll, never have to go... but you should. he is craing and understanding.
three workbooks that you have to do, very easy stuff..and grades easy on them...tests are very difficult if you don't study, easy if you do study..tests are based on book and lectures but before tests he tells you what you need from the book...cool guy
Boring class! He can't hear very well even though he just got hearing aids. The class isn't too difficult. Don't buy the book you won't need it. Almost everything on the test is from the class notes.
Will give you list of terms and all will be on test. Do cue cards. No need for the book. The workbooks are a bit tedious but its the only homework. Funny guy....long stories.
Easiest class ever. There are only 3 test and all very easy. you just have to memorize a bunch of terms. His workbooks are interesting! He likes to tell stories a lot. Funny but can get boring at times. you don't have to go to class if you get the terms.
i was also disappointed with this website. sure it's a fairly easy class, but you won't learn ANYTHING. he's deaf and only will help students who are failing. it's an easy b for sure, but don't count on an easy a.
grade based on 3 workbooks (easy to BS) and 3 midterms (hard multiple choice). class is really boring but attendance is necessary for good grade on tests. old guy, hard of hearing, but tells great stories
Extremely sweet old man, however his tests will be hard if you're not prepared. Go to class, take notes, and always get a review sheet. He tells lots of stories and is actually very interesting, so class isn't too bad. I highly recommend him!
He tells lots of stories but his class isn't too bad. Tests are easy if you study the review sheet, which are basically key terms. Make sure to go to class and take notes for the tests.
This guy saw the The Who At The Fillmore... as it was burning... That's all i learned and it was well worth it... he's a cool guy.
The class is pretty easy- gives you a review sheet that has everything thats going to be on the exam...so if you study the review sheet you'll do fine. Boring lectures. Old man who has a hard time hearing, but tells some real funny stories.
Nice guy. Tells some interesting stories. If not alert you can fall asleep in his class. COurse consists of 3 tests and 3 notebooks. COmplete them and there's no problem passing. Worth your time and a GE credit
he is real straightforward about what he wants you to know. you will need the book to find some info he doesn't cover in class, but i suggest finding someone to split the cost with because there aren't that many terms you need to look up. he goes off on tangents a lot and you get out of class early.
Prof T was NOT a good teacher. He rambels far more than anyone should, he is unclear, his tests ask lots of vocabulary and little that he covers in class. You could read the text book and get more out of it than you can attending any of his lectures.
He is a very bad teacher. His lectures are pointless. Just buy the book and look up the words on the review sheets. If you actually want to learn anything about world religions get another teacher. On the bright side he does curve your grade at the end.
shitload of terms to know but at least he gives all of them to you.3 writing assignments but super easy to ****.3 multiple choice exams easy if you memorize. but don't do that bad on the 1st test i did and i got an A on everything else but ended up w/ a B in the class. nice guy uses the name "LuLu" a lot. class=not really necessary
Very unclear. Workbooks are easy but you have to memorize a lot of terms for the tests. soooo not worth it.
he mumbles alot during lectures...never reallie have to show up to class as long as you get the study guide and do the workbooks...he likes to put ur test grades in other people's grades and takes forever to fix it...can lose your test as well and delay your grade at the end of the semester.
There are 3 exams where you have to memorize a lot of terms...There is also 3 assignments but very easy. The class is really boring I tried to stay awake. If you get the study guide answers then you don't have to attend class. Overall the class was ok.
this class is really easy if you show up.
he is the worst teacher...if smoking the peace pipe was the only thing on the test then i would have done great in the class because all he talks about is things that relate to drugs and his past experiences with them...his tests are really random and asks the stupidest questions on them....CHANGE TEACHERS IF U CAN
Super Teacher! Hes so funny and cant hear well. Very nice and trys to help students out. Take him while u can before he retires!
Dr. Thomas often times spaces out to unrelated material to the teaching topics but despite that his class isnt bad at all. Only 3 Tests and he gives you the 100 or so words you will be tested on
Oh man, it is so hard to stay awake in this class. it's like a parent telling you bed time stories before you go to bed every night. But overall, this professor was awesome. he really cares about his students and is willing to help if you ask for it. His class can be funny and boring at the same time (kind of weird)..
Very Boring teacher. I have to retake so good luck.
Great teacher. But if your a student who seldom attends class, you might want to try another professor. Very helpful and provides a lot of clarity for his lectures during his office hours. Interesting course, makes you question if there really is some kind of greater force out there.
easy teacher. he gives you a study guide before you start each section. you do need to go to class to get definitions for some of the words though. lectures could be a little hard to bear but he likes when you fall asleep. don't mess up on the tests, especially the 1st one. tests are matching. 3 easy workbooks. 1st one is on the 1st test.
easy class. give out a study guide before tests. i recommend making flashcards. no final. the workbooks are a little tedious, but they aren't hard. he tells lots of stories in class. i never went and i got a B.
he gives out study guides (lists of words and terms) about 2 weeks before each test. make flashcards for all the words because they are the only thing on the test. the test are straight forward and easy if you study. need to go to class the day before the test becasue that is when he goes over all of the words that people dont know. very nice.
This guy technically retired a few years ago, but still teaches part time, and it shows. He gets way too off track during lectures and makes coming to class miserable and super boring. Only 3 tests, which are pretty easy if you study the list of terms he gives you a week in advance. Easy class, but VERY boring lectures!
Don't take this class. The lectures are boring and unstructured. He is way too old and forgets to mention important things that will be on the test. The workbooks are monotonous and irrevlevant. I got a B+, only because I studied the lists he gives us. I don't feel like I learned anything in that class though. He needs to stay retired.
Professor Thomas was one of my favorite teachers at SDSU and so was this class. The workbooks were cool and different from any assignment I have had so far. He liked to talk a lot and sometimes went off on a tangent, but he knew everything he taught inside and out. I would recommend this class to anyone.
He is a very nice guy and he is pretty funny. The only problem is that he isn't very clear when he is teaching, and most of the class gets easily confused. His tests aren't too hard, but you have to study alot!
nice guy. Mumbles a lot: sit close to the front. Gives out a study guide of 100+ terms for each of his 3 tests. Just memorize their main pts and you'll be fine on the MC tests. Most of the terms can be found in the text book or Wikipedia. Don't cram. Class tends to be slow because he tends to get off track. His workbooks are busy work but worth pts
lectures are very boring but just ask people for notes. i never went to class and managed a B+. tests were easy because he gave out study guides and the workbooks were busy but easily graded. he is not the greatest teacher but this class was a piece of cake!
Easy Class but its hard to get information because when he lectures hes all over the place and it seems like he doesnt really know what hes talking about. MAKES YOU BUY HIS OWN BOOKS. they are expensive and terrible books. but overall if you memorize the review sheet and just get the definitions on it you dont really need to even go to the class
I was not smart and got a C in this class. If you actually study for the tests it's a breeze. Make flash cards and study them for a week and you'll definatley get a B or higher. It's all vocab!
Ugh! Such a waste. you get a sheet of about 100 terms he'll put on the test and then he rambles on about crap. He might cover 1-2 terms a class then you're left with 80 to get on your own. He is so unclear and boring! I couldn't stand the class! 3 tests and 3 workbooks to do. just memorize each term and you'll do ok on the exams
class is easy because its just matching definitions with words. for the exams he'll give you a review list of 100 terms you need to know for the tests. save ur time and dont go to class; instead you can easily find the definitions in the book. his lectures are sooo long and boring because he always goes off topic as he lectures.
He's like a grandpa that likes to tell random stories..pretty cute! He gives you a sheet of paper with about a 100 terms and he tells you what they mean in class and you have to memorize all of them for the test and you'll get an A. (3 test a semester) Also he has us do workbooks which are pretty easy, but time consuming. I recommend for an easy A.
He is a pretty good teacher but he goes off topic a lot. If you study for the tests they are pretty easy because he tells you what is on them. Very cute old man who is like a friendly grandpa.
Memorize the 100 or so words for the test. You only need to go to class to get those terms.
Dont take this guy!!! He is so hard to listen to and so unorganized. He only gives three test with three workbooks, and true they arent that hard, they are just a pain to study for. The wkbks arent too bad either, but they take a while and feel like a waste of time.
you pretty much have to go or know someone that will go, because he gives u all the terms in class. so if you can do that, easy A. if you can't go to class you're probably failing out anyway. tests are easy (If you have all the terms!) i went less than 5 times and got a B, but i had a friend who went ususally
Mr. Thomas is such a cute old man. He has a lot of funny stories; sometimes people get annoyed but overall i think he's fun. You never ever have to go to class unless it's a test day---just get the list of terms, look them up in the book and turn in the workbook. the tests are harder than you think tho. he's funny it's pretty easy too
Great teacher knows his stuff! He's old and hard of hearing but I loved him!! If you go to class and take notes his tests are exactly what he says in class. Make flashcards and you'll get an A. He tells a lot of stories but they are actually stories on the test so pay attention!! Workbooks are easy the last one is actually interesting.
He is funny, and he knows a lot about religions, but he sometimes goes off the subject and he ended up talking about his personal life. But the thing is disliked the most is that he made us buy his own books, which are boring and pointless. Take this class with another professor if you want to learn more about religions and less about random stuff.
Dr. Thomas is a really nice guy and he means well but I think its time for him to retire. Don't take him if you're actually interested in learning about religion. He loves telling stories and talking about random stuff.
OKAY. Here's the real deal. He's sweet old man, that accepts all late work through out the semester. Showing up to class is not mandatory, but it IS helpful. Book is VERY useful if you don't go to class. He's a bit hard to listen to, but I would DEF. recommend him! He's pretty easy. 3 exams= 76pts ea., 3 workbooks which are EASY= 24pts ea. =300pts
Dr. Thomas is a really nice guy and his class is pretty easy. His lectures are a bit slow and he does get distracted, but if you suck it up and listen, the information is practically spoon fed to you.
Go to his office hours and read the book and you should be set to go! REALLY FUNNY GUY and he is completely understandable and will work with you if you have any problems or questions.
dr. thomas is a ex hippy lover super sweet but he reminds me of the new "bing" commercials where one word in his sentence will lead him to a totally different sentence where he again says another word that leads him to yet again another completely different sentence. i go to class outta respect but i rely 95% on the textbook to study.
Amazing teacher! I highly recommend taking him for religion. He tells a lot of stories and goes off topic a lot but he is a good teacher if you pay attention. He is very willing to help you with any problems you have in the class and he is probably one of the nicest teachers I've ever had.
Knows an enormous amount about religion. Just use the book to define terms he doesn;t explain and you are set. Everything is based on his 3 exams and three projects.
changes the syllabus around, lectures are super unclear and test 1 is brutal because tested on stuff NOT in book but stuff he made up. Test 2 & 3 much better b/c you can get info out of textbook. Go to class just to know what changes he makes to syllabus! Nice guy, but man can be confusing and hard to follow
He's an extremely helpful and nice guy. However, he should retire. His classes are boring and monotone but are mandatory to fill out the study guide. Questions are really random, but if you study the class is very easy. Don't recommend his morning class, he will put you back to sleep.
Interesting man who likes to ramble on about anything that remotely connects to anything. Tests are hard but gives lots of extra credit. This class has no structure at all. If you want to take a class that is an easy C then take this one do the workbook and show up to class when you want.
Out of all the professors I've had, Jesse Thomas is by far, the nicest. He's a bit hard to understand at times (Religion in itself is hard to understand), but his willingness to help students, and the level of dedication this man has for what he does is astounding. I definitely recommend taking this class.
Thomas for Religious Studies 101 is so easy! Three tests, three one page essays, three workbook activities. Tests are ONLY on vocabulary words. The essays are just a detailed version of one of those words, and the workbook, you'll have to do some reading, but straight forward. There's also three required meetings with the professor.
Super easy class, just start a google docs for the whole class to contribute for the vocabulary for each exam and you will ace the exam. Three one page papers, three short workbooks and three exams based on his vocab words. Just one thing, his lectures can be very boring.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE TAKEN AT SDSU SO FAR! Tests are vocab. terms that he goes over every class. I highly recommend this class with Dr. Thomas! Very helpful if you don't understand. He cares & loves his students. I can guarantee that you will love it! My favorite class of the semester and an easy GE!!! TAKE THIS CLASS! You won't regret it!
The class is not all that hard if you're good with vocab. Hes a nice older man who cares about his students but i feel like he gets off topic way too much. The lectures are beyond boring and sometimes you get confused on what he's talking about due to how he jumps from one vocab word to another and then talks about his life. Very unorganized
He's a great guy, very helpful and lenient, but his lessons are all over the place. He's a REALLY nice guy to help you get a passing grade. there wasn't any enthusiasm in his class-meaning it was boring. even when we were watching something. he's a nice guy, but i didnt learn much honestly
It is true that this class is relatively easy and Dr. Thomas is pretty lenient w/ deadlines and helpful. But whoever says he is a great professor, has obviously no clue. You won't learn anything in this class, he gets off topic ALL the time, and it is hard not to fall asleep. He should retire
He's a very sweet and generous professor. The workbooks that are required, are written by him, and i gotta say that it targets your reactions/comments to what you've read, so it's not really like a right or wrong answer. He's very kind and helpful. I didn't learn much though. and because i was a lazy freshman, i got a C+.if i could do it again, YES
