Extremely funny woman. Anatomy is a hard class in of itself but she tries to make it easier for her students. Lectures are long but it's not her fault the material is just tedious. Definitely need to study a lot for her tests because there's a lot of material and its very in depth - but that's like any other anatomy class.
Jess Adams is an amazing teacher! She's funny, and explains anatomy in her own quirky, fun way. I understand everything that's happening. She tries to make class similar to what you're learning in lab. Tests are multiple choice and pretty straight forward. She throws in fake things to help you choose the right answer. Just know your stuff!
all she does is rush through lectures, neglects to mention online due dates on a website that she chooses to use, and then doing bad on homework can break your grade because it is all graded even though you might get A's on exams
I actually understand biology when Jessica Adams explains it. She is very clear about the material and she's funny too which keeps you listening. She also gives numerous extra credit opportunities which makes it easy to bring your grade up if you fail an exam. She gives lots of in class assignments so attendance is important to your grade.
An amazing professor and will go to all lengths for students to learn being a tough class
She's wicked chill, best professor I've had at URI. Wicked funny and interested in the students
Jessica Adams is the best professor I have had since I have been at URI! She makes the lectures interesting and fun, as well as prepares us for her exams. There are four exams, each about 50 mc. If you study you will do fine, if you don't you're going to have trouble because most of the class is memorization. Definitely take her if you can!
Best Anatomy professor at URI! It is NOT an easy class by any means, but if you put the time into it and follow your syllabus, you can do it! Prof Adams is extremely helpful, and although she has to cover a ton of material in a short amount of time, she does an amazing job with helping you remember little things!
Professor Adams knows her stuff when it comes to Anatomy. She goes through her powerpoints going over each slide and asks questions throughout her lecture. Before each exam she likes to do a review session. Overall, I find the professor Adams is a great professor, who tries her best to be as clear as possible, and is always open to give extra help.
Professor Adams is one of the best professors i have had here at URI. Anatomy is a hard course, so you need to put the time in to get an A. HOWEVER, Adams makes it so much more enjoyable, she is funny, and she genuinely cares about all of her students. If you take this class, take it with her. You only need to buy the lab manual, only 3 tests
Professor Adams is by far one of the best professors I've had in my academic career. She truly cares and makes great analogies using sport like hockey, and humor. She does have fast classes but that isn't to her control and do any reading. She is more than happy to help with clarification or issues and going to her office hours is really helpful.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Would like to be the kind of person she is one day.
This is a hard course, but she will help you succeed if you put the time in. There is a lot of material to cover but her lectures are very informative. She's funny and she gives tips regarding how to memorize material. If you have the chance to take a class with her, you should. By far the best professor at URI that I've had so far.
She's an awesome professor teaching a tough class! Her methods are really helpful and she cares a lot about her students.
Obviously loves her job. Her humor makes the lectures more interesting. Singlehandedly made me enjoy the subject Anatomy.
Jessica Adams is an awesome professor. She really knows her stuff and presents the material in an interesting way. She's super personable and funny, and you can tell that she truly cares about her students. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
She is one of my favorite professors because she seems like a real person. She has unique and often hysterical little tips a tricks to remember the massive amount of information. She is one of the few professors that I can honestly say, truly cares about her students, their learning, there lives, and most importantly their success.
Great Professor, Really makes the lessons interesting and puts her own spin on it, which is a really important virtue in college when things can be really drab and boring. AS far as quality, expect that to be high too. All around amazing professor, definetely my favorite this semester.
Loved her!!!
Adams is such a great teacher, i honestly loved her lectures and if you have any questions she would be more than happy to help. She's awesome. I recommend her for Bio 121 Anatomy!
Jess Adams is such an amazing professor. If you need help, she will do anything she can to help you succeed. Her lectures fly by, she has an amazing sense of humor, and the material she addresses is straightforward. Her personality was a reason on its own to attend class, you never know what she'll come out with.
Professor Adams is great you can tell she loves biology and she is funny! She also gives extra credit! She goes through slides really quick so be ready to keep up! Sometimes you get extra points for being in class so go!
Jess is the best professor I have ever had. Her lectures are hilarious and she keeps you interested in biology. She gives a lot of extra credit too.
Professor Adams is by far one the best professors i've had the luxury of having. She turns 'dull' material into something I grew to really enjoy. Its very clear Professor Adams takes pride in teaching Anatomy and cares deeply for her students as every lecture she would make it a point to ask the whole class how we were doing & if we had questions.
Test are as expected in BIO121. Lots of studying necessary to succeed. Prof. Adams makes somewhat boring material funny and exciting. Would love to take a class with here again.
I love this professor!! Bio as a whole is hard but she makes it more understanding. Make sure you attend class because she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Adams was one of the best professors I have ever had. She is super helpful and answers emails almost immediately. She's also super funny and tells stories about her life and kids a lot. Loved her and would definitely take another class with her.
She cares so much about her students. There are over 250 students in my lecture hall and she knows a bunch of her student's names. Very knowledgeable about the subject, easy to approach, and she is always throwing in jokes to her lectures to keep us engaged. I would love to have her again, I am definitely going to miss her next semester!
Best professor I've ever had, she truly makes you love anatomy by making it so interesting and upbeat. I was never bored in her lectures and she's hilarious. Cares for her students and responds to emails immediately. Tests were fair but do require a lot of studying and outside work. She is also very approachable and understanding.
I LOVE Professor Adams! She is amazing! Very funny and relatable. She explains anatomy very well and her powerpoints have a lot of pictures. Powerpoints are long so she skips through a lot, there is usually 70-90 slides per class to fit into 45-50 mins; she explains the most important stuff and does review before each exam and does Kahoot.
One of my favorite professors that I've had so far. She makes lectures really fun and really explains things well. Her PowerPoints are pretty long so taking notes before class would really help you. If you actually study, her exams are pretty straightforward. Would 100% love to have her as a professor again.
Jess is a energetic and cares about her students. Tries to make lectures fun but they are really long and she does blow through the material quickly. Makes material more relatable. Overall, good professor just wish she spent more time on the material.
Professor Adams is one of those professors you know you won't get very often. She's hilarious, super understanding and actually knows what she's talking about and has a true passion for it. Her exams test you on the important stuff, the course is difficult but if you put the time in and use the resources she gives you, you'll do fine.
She's a great teacher and it's not a difficult class. You don't have to show up to lectures unless that's how you learn the material. You do need to study in order to pass her tests, but everything on her tests are in the powerpoint.
By far one of the best professors you will have in the Biology Department
Jess makes one of the hardest BIO classes a bit easier than it can be presented by others considering the massive lecture hall. She puts forth time and effort into making her class enjoyable. Definitely energetic an it is clear how she cares very much about the students unlike some other professors which makes her a great lecturer for anatomy.
Professor Adams is such an amazing woman. Not only is her teaching awesome, but she is just an all-around great person. She made anatomy fun, cared about her students, and took difficult material and made it understandable. 10/10 would recommend!!
Adams is the best professor at URI, or so she is in comparison to whom I've had so far. She really cares for the students and tries her best in lectures to make the material as interesting as possible. She cracks jokes with the students and proves to us how beautifully passionate she is over science. Your grade is a result of the time you put in.
She is such a great person and teacher! She really cares about the material she teaches and all her students, even if it's a class of 300. She cares so much that she would go out of her way to get you a bandaid if you scraped your knee before an exam ;) I would definitely recommend her to everyone!
Jess Adams is one of the best professors I've had hands down. She does go really fast on her lectures, but there is a lot of material she has to cover. Coming to class is really important because of the pace of the class. She's hilarious and gives you the tools to be successful in her class. 11/10 do recommend.
Sweetest woman I have ever met- gives you so many options for extra credit/review. She's funny, understanding, and gives amazing lectures. She cares for all her students and clarifies anything you're unsure of. HIGHLY RECOMMEND :-)!
She is a good teacher. Her lectures are O.K. because she's skips 10 slides at once and talks wicked fast, However she provides you with AMAZING study guides and power points. Study those any you'll pass the class. Trust me, her exams are passable and she knows it too.
Adams is the best professor I have ever had. Her mnemonics are hilarious and really help you remember! She is so kind, truly cares about education, and wants everyone to succeed. Anatomy is a difficult course, but her teaching style makes the class very fair and it is passable! Love her, wish I could take every class with Jess Adams 3
Jess makes lectures fun by giving real world examples all the time and including random slides about art or memes etc. She can get off topic but always for a good reason. Lectures are packed with necessary Information so it's important to attend class. She's super understand and kind when you need help.. she has your best interest in mind.
Adams is the best, and the only professor you should even consider taking bio in. I rarely went to class, but she puts all notes on Sakai so I still got an A. She gives out TONS of extra credit and is super hilarious. Final exam is also non-cumulative which is a major plus.
Jess Adams is great person but a bad professor. She brings life into her teaching but her power points are a mess, she skips 20 slides but expects you to learn it still, talks way too fast, and her exam questions are tricky. She assigns a lot of homework every week and it doesn't help. Assigns in class assignments you won't get if you don't attend.
Awesome professor to take anatomy with. I struggled with the material and thought I was going to fail the class in the beginning of it but I ended up passing and doing well. There is a ton of resources to help you and she cares about her students and wants to see them pass, she encourages going to office hours if your struggling. Overall she rocks
Professor Adams is awesome. I didn't pass her class. She emailed me often to check in with me - she truly cares about her students and will do anything for them to be successful. I am looking forward to taking her again.
Awesome professor and so funny. I struggled with the material and it is a lot of content but I ended up passing. If I didn't have Adams I can't say that I would have done as well as I did. Adams truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Overall the course is difficult, but Adams breaks it down so that it is very do-able!
Was lucky enough to get Mrs. Adams after failing Irvine's class, along with 30+ others who failed his course. She's an amazing teacher and willing to help you out if you're stuck. If you need to talk with her, she's always available during her office hours. Really nice and funny, her material is engaging. 10/10 easy for her. :)
she's soooooooooo good! would recommend taking her class any day.
Jess Adams is a great professor at URI. Though its only my first semester of college, she's the most helpful professor I've had thus far. The class is extremely lecture heavy, so don't miss a class otherwise you'll be lost. This course is pretty difficult, I won't lie, but put in the work and time outside of class and you can definitely get an A.
She is a lovely woman. She truly cares for her students and makes her lectures interesting. Such a funny and sweet professor. I definitely recommend her! The only thing I wish she did was provide more information on her powerpoint slides for studying purposes, other than that she's an awesome professor! This school needs to hire more Jess Adams
Jess Adams makes anatomy the best class ever! It is so much information but she makes it understandable and enjoyable. 10/10!
Jess is simply the best. The lectures have so much material but it's worth going as she makes it interesting and adds information that will be on the exams. I found this class to be very hard just cause of all the information you needed to know but if you put in the time and work you can get a good grade. You really get out what you put in.
shes the best! one of the few professors I've had that actually cares about her students. She really wants you to understand the material and does her best to explain everything and prep you for the exams. Would highly recommend taking a class with her
Jess Adams is the best professor I've had. She genuinely cares about her students and makes lectures fun and interesting. I was engaged throughout each class and she made me want to learn more about each subject. She is friendly and helpful at office hours and encourages us to ask though provoking questions. You work for your grade but it pays off.
Adams is very different from the average professor. She is easy to talk to, loves to help students, and her lectures are entertaining. As long as you go to lectures and pay attention passing should be no problem.
Toughest class I have ever loved.
Jess is amazing. I loved her so much and she definitely knows her stuff for anatomy. This class was NOT easy, but I learned so much from her and this class. If you have to take anatomy or any other class that she teaches, take it with her. You have to work hard for a good grade! She gives you a good laugh, and I can't express how awesome she is.
Best professor at Uri. She cares about her students and her lectures are interesting but cover a lot- Go to them! Many hours of studying are required for this course but its doable. Would definitely take her again!! Learned a lot
THE BEST PROFESSOR AT URI. YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG TAKING HER. Her enthusiasm about anatomy helps make it more interesting and understandable. She introduces and explains topics so they are much better to comprehend. She's always there for her students and truly wants you to succeed. Very helpful at office hours, makes many resources available.
Jess was SO funny and relatable. Her powerpoints were very helpful and I loved her class. Homework was pretty easy and her tests were difficult for me but it was just a matter of studying hard and putting the work in! She's so sweet and likeable, and a very engaging professor! Was definitely my favorite prof so far!!!
Absolutely amazing professor. Her lectures made the material a lot more clear, and if you still don't understand, she's willing to take the time to explain it to you after class or during her office hours. Also, she's hilarious! Just be warned that she talks kind of fast.
Let me be real here and 100% honest. Do NOT listen to any bad reviews about this woman. Jess may very well be the greatest teacher in secondary/higher education history. Adams needs to teach a class on how to teach a class next semester. Shes that good. A diamond in the rough.
Adams is a really good professor and if you are able to you should take a class with her. She is very funny and her lecture is very clear and understanble. However this class is really hard and you need to put in tons of time outside of class READ THE BOOK as long as you study everyday you will be fine
Amazing professor. Was very worried about this class but she made it very interesting and easy to pay attention. The content is overwhelming but flashcards will be your best friend. If you put the time in you will do very well. Tests are very straight forward and fair, only based on her powerpoints. All TopHat questions count towards extra credit.
AMAZING professor. I have always struggled in science but once i had her for both BIO101 and BIO121 she made things so much easier to comprehend. She's very understanding so if you are confused about a topic, want to go over exams, or just talk she's always there to help. The content is hard but if you put the work in you will pass.
She really cares about her students and their grades and does her best to help you as much as she can. All material is covered in lecture so I would recommend showing up but she does post slides.
Truly one of the best professor's I've ever had. Her class is by no means easy but she knows her stuff. She is amazing in office hours and cares about her students. You do have to work hard and study a lot for her class but her class isn' impossible. Her points are very helpful and prepare you well for the exams but also look over the book as well.
One of the most caring and educated professors I've ever had. She's so passionate about anatomy and it really shows through her lectures that I definitely remember more when I'm studying for the exams. Her homework can be tricky but the AEC can help, and sign up for a group AEC tutoring group really helps.
Enjoyable lectures, and the online homework is easy.
Jess Adams is an amazing professor! She is funny, relatable and helpful. She'll take time out of her day to help you out if you can't meet during her office hours. However, she is no pushover. You must work for your grade! If you take notes, pay attention in lecture, then you'll be fine. If not, then your grade will go down.
Jess is the definition of a perfect teacher. She has an extreme passion for the subject, and tries her very hardest to install some of that passion onto her students. Her lectures can go pretty fast, so you've got to pay attention, and try not to miss too many of them. She's great at explaining things, and makes it easy to understand the material.
Adams tests are EXTREMELY HARD. She puts things on test that she never went over in class. Scenario based questions. Shes an all around good person and teacher but her tests are beyond difficult.
Jess Adams is amazing! She has a lot of knowledge on anatomy and does a great job teaching it. Her exams are difficult(because the overall course is difficult), but she is very fair and most questions relate to the powerpoint shown in lecture. Best professor that I've had at URI so far!!
Jess Adams is AMAZING. You have to work really hard for the grade though. She makes it clear from the beginning that if you are willing to put the time and energy in all of the resources are there for you. Its in your hands. Her lectures are great and she gives you so many online resources to work with in addition to office hours.
Great professor. She understands that the material is hard so she tries to do herbiest to make it as easy as possible. Top Hat is used for attendance as well as part of the grade. She does get distracted very easily and often is off topic, class is kind of a waste time most of the material can be learned on your own.
Jess is a great professor. She seems to know a lot about anatomy. I liked this class because exams are not the only thing that effect your grade. Homework and lab grades can help your grade. She is very accessible outside of class and loves when you ask her questions. Definitely would take again if she taught other classes. She is also funny!
Jess Adams is awesome! Her grading criteria is very clear, and she is willing to help anyone when they are confused. It's not really necessary to get the book, but you do need an access code. She understands that communication matters and will even reward you for coming to speak to her. Great BIO101 professor!
In high school, they say no college professor will care much about you. However, they have not met Jess Adams. She is super fun and an amazing teacher. She cares about her students, even in enormous lecture halls. You will not find a better professor. I don't know any other teacher that will offer you to stop by for noodles and chat. xo
She is amazing! SO nice and actually cares about students. This class is very lecture heavy, but she tries her best to make it fun, and keep everyone awake. You absolutely have to do the reading for the chapters before class or you will feel dumb during lecture. Her syllabus is very organized and clear. She's just a bomb person and teacher.
Truly cares about her students and their success. One of my favorite professors so far. Would definitely take another one of her classes.
Best professor ever!
The most caring and amazing professor Ive had at URI. She does an amazing job explaining tough subject matter and gives very fair exams. She is so welcoming into her office and wants more than anything for you to succeed! And she will make you laugh. LOVE you Jess Adams!
Super friendly and caring professor. BIO 220 is a tough course but she made it achievable to pass and fun to be in lecture.
great professor ! she's super nice and cares a lot about her students . Her class is very difficult and has A LOT of material so be prepared to put in the time and work but she is very helpful so if your willing to put in the effort id say you could at least get a C.
Jess Adams is by far the best professor for Human anatomy 1. Her lectures are packed full of information and you can easily visit her during her office hours. She will go over your exam question by question. She is amazing and so helpful and so knowledgeable in this subject. Totally wish she was teaching Bio 222!!!
Honestly she's the best professor at URI. I had her for Bio101 and Bio220 and loved her both classes! She is very helpful and honestly don't need the book just really study her power points. I would memorize everything I could from her powerpoints but she wants you to be able to apply what you memorized! Honestly easy to get an A if you study hard!
She is really amazing teacher. If you understand the slides you are good to go.
Absolutely one of the best teachers i've had at URI
Great lectures, always keeps you awake. Cares a lot about her students, make sure you take her for this class! There s a lot of information to know but if you time manage well, it is not an issues. She is always willing to help if needed as well.
There is a lot of information thrown at you during lectures, as Anatomy and Physiology 1 is packed full of information that we are required to know, but Adams does a wonderful job of ensuring that students are understanding what she is saying. She truly is one of the best teachers Ive ever had, and is by far my best professor in college thus far.
If you are going to take BIO 220 then you have to have Professor Adams. The course itself is difficult and lots of work but she does the very best with what she has to teach. The lectures are very long but she will tell you what parts you need to know and not to know for the tests. She's very approachable and her lectures are easy to follow.
Best professor I had at URI. She made learning hard material a little more bearable.
Amazing professor. Very organized and great lectures for such a heavy material course. She makes anatomy fun and interesting and easier to understand. Super nice and outgoing and personable. Easily the best professor at URI
This lady knows her stuff and is an amazing lecturer. The classes are never boring, as she knows how to keep the class engaged. She really gives you a deeper understanding of the human body instead of just making you understand structures, which helps for anyone going into a healthcare field. Make sure you get her for anatomy!
I'm not science-inclined at all, but Jess made learning basic bio a lot easier on me. She's very kind and helpful in her office hours. One thing I will say is we wasted some time in class doing tophat questions and think-pair-share. Otherwise, amazing professor and human being.
I really like Adams as a person, but I had a hard time learning in her class. Her lectures felt like they were all over the place and hard to follow. It was unclear on what the important things were to know in each unit which made it hard to prepare for exams. She was great at answering questions, but most of the time I didn't even know what to ask
Professor Adams offers intriguing and interactive lectures to help students learn more easily. As long as you attend class, the information is generally easy to understand with her explanations. Awesome professor!
Professor Adams was a professor I would choose to take again. She is so funny in her lectures and you can tell she cares about the success of her students. She offers a ton of extra credit for this class. A lot of your grade is based on online questions that you can only answer in class, so going to class is mandatory.
Jess Adams is the best professor at URI hands down. She makes going to class really interesting and so much fun. She is able to joke around and have fun but stays on track and teaches you a bunch. After BIO101 with her, I feel like I have such a strong BIO understanding now. She is a really fair grader so def. study a lot for the exams for an A.
Professor Adams is the best professor at URI. I took anatomy with her and while the class was hard, she found a way to make it interesting and actually teach us the material. Her exams are fair and she does not try and trick you, she tells you before every exam to be confident and asks how you think it went after. Genuinely cares about her students
Jess Adams is a well-respected and fun professor to have. She is extremely intelligent in her field and is always available over email or in-person. She is capable of connecting with all 300+ students in the room and uses her social skills to communicate effectively. I would love to take another class with her someday.
Jess Adams made Bio 101 my favorite class my freshman year. She cares about her students and is passionate about the subject which makes it better. Her exams aren't hard if you go to class and put in some studying.
Power points are crucial in this class. A must study. Best to learn as you go. The first exam, I let the slides build up without reading them all and I got a 58%. I printed the slides 4 per one page and would write notes on them while Professor Adams lectured. Do the extra credit and stay on top of hw on mastering. It takes work but Jess is awesom
Jess Adams is the best prof I've ever had at URI. You can tell she definitely cares about her students and she makes her lectures funny and informative. She moves fast through the slides, but puts them up on Sakai so it didn't bother me. Anatomy was a hard class, but she made it better.
Best Anatomy and Physiology professor at URI by far!! Very passionate, making students more engaged. Extra credit opportunities. Her teaching style makes the immense material easier to learn.
Dr. Adams is one of my absolute favorite professors! I learned SO MUCH in anatomy & phys. She makes her lectures interesting yet content heavy. Sometimes, we have to learn topics on our own because of how much material there is but she almost always makes a video on it and uploads it. Take this class, you won't regret it!
Great Professor! Breaks down anatomy in an easy and informative way. Love her!
Jess Adams is a great person, but she is too intelligent and holds the students accountable for too much information. For her exams you have to know extremely detailed information. You could study for days and still only get a 60 because she expects you to know so much content.
Professor Adams has made biology one of my favorite classes this semester. She really cares about her students and is always very helpful in office hours. Additionally, she is great at making the material understandable.
I absolutely loved having class with Jess Adams! she cared so much about all her students. I wish I could have her again
Dont skip class! If you want an enjoyable BIO 101 take Adams. Professor Adams is so engaging that you wont regret it! Huge lecture, but Adams does not make it feel that way at all. Lot of homework but that means that the exams wont be as content heavy.
Never have I EVER come across such an amazing woman/professor. Jess Adams is by far one of my favorite profs . She cares so much about her students & goes out of her way to engage with them and make sure they have a complete understanding of the material. If you have any questions, she is beyond helpful. Content can be tough, you gotta put in work!
Jessica Adams is the best professor I have ever had at URI. She is so kind and compassionate and really cares about her students. Her lectures/presentations are very helpful and she makes learning this tough subject as easy as possible. I have never taken an anatomy class in my life and I earned an A. Take her class!!! You won't regret it!!!!
She doesn't wear shoes during lectures so be prepared to witness that. She reads directly off of the slides that she makes but they say the important sections of each chapter at the top which is helpful. You'll need to read and study off of the textbook to do well on the exams. Exams are not too difficult
There is not enough time in a semester to say all of the great things about Jess Adams! She is one of the most engaging, caring, knowledgeable, and easily approachable professors at URI & maybe the world! Her teaching style is very engaging and makes the material super easy to understand. She's the definition of a "Cool Mom"
She is amazing and caring! Take her class, there is so much extra credit. Her lectures are easy to follow along and are engaging. She is great with email and is approachable. Four exams (the final exam is NOT cumulative), 14 homework assignments, and TONS of extra credit. You definitely need to show up to class and DO NOT buy the book.
By far the best professor I've ever had at URI. She truly cares about all of her students, and wants each and every one of them to pass. Her lectures are actually super helpful, and participation is also graded; so go to class! The material is difficult, but she makes it fun, clear, and easy as long as you put the work in. Lots of extra credit.
I honestly love Adams, she treats her students like they are her own children and is so helpful. She can be easily reached by email and her door is ALWAYS open to students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE HER CLASSES!!!
IF YOU CAN TAKE ANATOMY WITH HER! If you go to class, pay attention in lab, and try to study its almost impossible to get less than a B. She even gave extra credit (do it it helps!) She would always say good morning and goodbye and understands reality of college life. Weekly homework is easy if you read/ go to lecture and is done online.
I loved Adams! She cares so much for her students and is very accessible to reach outside of class. I wasnt the best at bio but she offered a lot of extra credit opportunities to get your grade up! Definetly take Bio 101 with her
Jess Adams is probably the best professor and best teacher in general that I've had. She makes difficult material seem much more bearable and I looked forward to attending her lectures every day. Anatomy is a difficult class and has a lot of material to learn but Professor Adams wants nothing more than to see you succeed.
Cuz of COVID we only had one non mandatory Zoom a week, where she would blast through multiple chapters of material. A good amount of HW due each week. Exams were very hard in my opinion. Theres so much to memorize it can get overwhelming. HW will save ur grade if u do bad on exams. Dont buy the lab book it's not req for the online labs
Very nice Professor and responds very quickly to emails. Tests were very hard (in my opinion) as you only get a minute a question. Good amount of homework due each week.
Tests are extremely difficult in my opinion as you are given 50 minutes for 50 questions with no backtracking. Questions are really specific too. Perusal reading assignments are nearly impossible to score a 100 on and are only graded out of 3 points so you either get a 100, 66, 33, or 0. Zooms are once a week and not mandatory.
This is probably the only course that I spent the most time doing the hw, discussion posts, writing annotations (these were graded), reading, watching lecture videos, and taking notes. It's a lot and the tests are hard, but if you can manage your time with all that and study you'll make it!
Jess Adams is the BEST Professor ever. Not only is she really funny but her lectures are very interesting and she is amazing at explaining concepts. She does expect a lot though, on average you have to memorize 400 or more slides of info. But still, she is an awesome professor and I would 100% recommend you take her class.
Professor Adams is the best professor at URI. She is amazingly smart and dedicated to her students. She is funny and caring towards her class. Her passion for teaching is clear and shines. I recommend Dr. Adams for every student. 10/10 as a person and teacher!!
Adams is an incredibly nice professor who cares a lot about her students. BIO 221 is challenging but she gives so many opportunities for extra credit. If you do all of the work and pass each exam, you would probably end up with an A or B.
I love Jess Adams. She made anatomy not only fun but I actually was able to retain things from her class. She knows how to keep students engaged and her lecture videos are EXTREMELY helpful and most of it is what is on the tests. Yes there is a decent amount of homework but you can get 100s just for putting ur time and effort into it. Love her!
I had her for a fully online anatomy ad physiology. Her lectures were good but the tests were hard. really grateful that the final wasn't cumulative and only included the last 4-5 chapters!
Jess Adams is a very good Anatomy Physiology Professor. Her class requires a lot of tedious work each week and her exams can be a little tough (grading wise). You are given 50 minutes to complete a 50 question exam without being able return to previous question. Overall, She is a funny women and very bright and cheery every day!
Adams is the best professor I have had thus far! She is so lively and her class is difficult, but if you are present and attentive in her lectures you will do really well. I reccomend downloading the powerpoints she gives you and taking notes on them to add what she says so you don't have to worry about taking down copious amounts of notes
Absolutely loved her! Had her for Anatomy and Physiology 1. She is extremely caring and not only cares about how her students are doing, but their mental health and how they are feeling as well! She is easily accessible through email and outside of class too. The class is somewhat difficult but you'll be fine as long as you keep up with studying!
If you have the chance to take A&P 1 with Jess Adams, DO IT! She is such a great professor who genuinely does care for each of her students. She is very accessible outside of class and brings a lot of energy and positivity to every lecture. The class if difficult, but if you keep up and study, you will do fine. She also gives a lot of extra credit!
A very energetic, caring, and enthusiastic professor. You can tell she actually cares for her students. A bit of a difficult class but will provide help if you ask / go to office hours.
Love her. She's funny and nice. Be ready to study a lot. Best bio class I've taken though. She's also very considerate regarding the price of course material and tries to make the class as low cost as possible which I wish more teachers did.
Professor Adams is really good at what she does. Shes very clear at when things are due and if theres an extension. You can go up to her and talk to her about anything. Shes one of the most caring and respectful professors Ive had this semester. If you have the a chance take a class with her. Shes really one of the best.
Professor Adams truly cares about her students and works to ensure that the content is understood before moving forward. Her exams were extremely fair and always based on her lectures and PowerPoints which meant there were no surprises on exam day. Professor Adams is an amazing lecturer who values her students!
Prof. Adams is seriously one of the best professors I've ever had in my four year college career. She is aware that anatomy can be hard and lets her students know that from the start, but she makes sure to encourage them that it is possible. She is willing to go the extra mile to help her students succeed. So kind and approachable.
One of the best professors I've had at URI. Anatomy is a difficult course and Adams knows that and is willing to do whatever it takes to help you pass the course. There is a bit of homework but it is all extremely helpful for preparing for quizzes. Would definitely recommend if you are taking Anatomy at URI
This professor is 100% the best professor at this school. If you need to take any of the classes she teaches do anything to make sure you get her as your professor, she truly cares about her students.
This is a hard class and you have to put a lot of time outside of the class to do well, but I believe Dr. Adams does her best to make this class a little less overwhelming. I would not consider taking BIO 220 with any other professor. She also wears shirts themed to the lectures sometimes and that is the best way I could describe her personality.
Jess Adams has to be the best professor at this school, she's a sweetheart her lectures are a lot but they are engaging and they make you learn. I would take her as a professor a million times over. For anatomy she is always ready to help and provides any example you need.
Dr. Adams is truly an amazing professor. She cares about her students both academically and mentally. There are four exams. The last acts as the final and isn't cumulative. Lots of extra credit opportunities! A&P is very content heavy but I am so glad I took this course with her. Put the time in before and after lectures and you'll do great.
Adams was an awesome professor. She has very consistent lecture structure and the homework is all due on the same day weekly throughout the semester, so establishing a work routine for this class was easy. She does do a sort of attendance through PollEv, which was less than 20 dollars instead of requiring an expensive textbook. Super sweet. 10/10
Great professor, and have taken her the past 2 semesters!
Anatomy is not the easiest class, but Jess Adams excels at making it digestible for all students. Office Hours are VERY HELPFUL and she gives a fair amount of extra credit throughout the semester. She's a very nice lady and overall, one of the best professors Ive had at this school. Attendance not mandatory, but go regardless.
Great professor. Truly shows that she cares for the students and wants them to succeed. Stay organized with due dates and keep up with her lectures and you will be fine.
class is over 70 percent exams. 50 minutes for 50 questions, all fairly difficult multiple choice. Absolutely overwhelming and if you crash on exams due to pressure, you are absolutely screwed. For a class that introduces a lot about study habits, and how to learn, the entire class grading system is based on memorization, which is hypocritical.
anatomy can be intimidating but adams was SO helpful and understanding. she loves getting to know her students, show up to office hours. the tests are a little hard but if you know the material you are completely fine. she gives extra credit too. the only people who don't like her are the people who don't do good on the tests shes amazing, love her
this class was hard. be prepared to study a lot for it! but i wouldn't want to take it with any other professor. adams cares so much about her students and wants you to do well, but you have to work for it. tests were difficult but manageable and there are a lot of extra credit options! hw was not a lot each week either. good luck you got this!!
Jess Adams is an amazing professor, especially for freshman/new students. She goes fast in lectures, but all of the material is posted online and it's not hard to keep up with the content if you pay attention. Many of the questions she asks in class & homework questions are similar to the ones on the exams, so studying those is enough.
Dr. Adams was a great teacher! You could tell she's passionate about the class and she also gave extra credit assignments (that definitely helped my grade)! She constantly said to come to her office hours, which were very helpful! Although she doesn't curve test grades (Every1 make sure to study for skeletal sys test!) I would def take her again!
The best ever. Tough material but makes a huge effort to help you understand. In person on paper tests open notebook. A lot of work assigned but Necessary to help you understand material. Never thought I could pass a human anatomy and physiology class but she made it so much easier and less stressful. Just an all around great professor.
She is a very nice person but I found her class awful. She always spoke way too fast and spoke about understanding concepts when all we were ever tested on was memorization. I'I just think she talks too fast and is bad with pacing. I also think I should've asked for more help but this is my overall opinion.
Adams is a sweetheart, she's VERY nice, I didn't want to write this review because of it, but the lecture itself is a whole other level. This class is very test heavy and the exams are more so based on memorization rather than how much you understand the content..I would never do well because of this, and trust me I studied a lot!!
love her
Amazing professor, lectures are really insightful and she always offers extra help. The best approach to doing well is to review material and take notes prior to her lectures on it.
She is an amazing person, visit her office for candy!
I love Jess Adams. She is one of the most engaging, kind and inspirational professors I've ever had. She goes very very fast and sometimes can't cover everything in class, but she truly wants all of her students to suceed. Anatomy is a very hard subject, but as long as you prepare before and after lecture you'll be fine. She gives extra credit too.
exams in this class are absolutely ridiculous. no given instruction on anything and when asked questions during office hours, you get the most broad, unhelpful answers. doesn't really seem to care about students that are struggling.
Adams is the absolute best professor!! Spend time actually doing your homework, take notes before class, study hard, go see her in office hours, and you will do great. I would totally take her class again if I could- highly recommend!
She isn't bad but she is not good that's all I have to say
Adams was absolutely incredible. She is available so often and her online videos help so much. If you do not want to take this class because it is online please rethink your decision. She is awesome, please take her if you have the option
Dr.Adams is the best prof I've had a URI so far. You can tell she's extremely passionate about what she teaches and always encourages asking for help when needed. No other professor compares, she is simply the best. Also, do the practice hws! some of the questions show up on exams
I LOVE JESS ADAMS! She is so passionate about A&P and truly cares about her students. Yes, A&P is a lot of work, but it's going to be that way no matter who is teaching it. Jess Adams makes A&P entertaining through her lectures that I don't fall asleep during. I am going to miss her now that I'm moving on to A&P II. Study a lot and you'll do well!
Great professor, gives you everyone the opportunity to succeed.
LOVE JESS ADAMS!! She has a great mindset and I actually enjoyed attending class. As long as you study and go to office hours, you will have no problem in class. Exams are sometimes hard but she tries to help you to the best of her ability. Although she does sometimes read off slides, she tries to make it fun and gives you breaks throughout class.
I honestly never understood the hype about her teaching, as for the most part, it wasn't amazing. However, she provides so much extra credit, and her exams are easy if you just spam the practice problems she gives you. If she does give a fourth exam online again, beware because that exam was super hard in comparison to the rest of them!
Prof. Adams is generally well-liked, though her teaching style may not work for everyone. Attend class, use the practice problems, and unstuck ai can be a helpful study tool. Exams can be challenging but very doable with effort.
The exams were pretty difficult and the discussion posts are extremely long and needed to be in detail even when they are worth little to no points.
Jessica Adams is very nice don't get me wrong, but her exams are heavily weighted and they are nothing like the textbook. Her exams are so hard and the homework she gives doesn't correlate. She makes this class harder than it needs to be.
LOVE DR. ADAMS. Her joy for teaching & love for the subject is evident in every single lecture. Decent but manageable HW load. Time management is HUGE. Very accessible by email. People saying this class sucked probably didn't watch a single lecture. You get out of this class what you put into it. Take a class with Dr. Adams if you get the chance!
Long lecture videos sometimes but loved taking this class online, would recommend to everyone. light workload, just have to understand material for exams
Awesome professor, but a lot of material to learn at once. I would always meet with her to go over tests and learn where I went wrong. She wants her students to succeed. Just make sure you listen to the lectures and dedicate time to understanding the material. There is no (minimal) extra credit, so make sure you start out strong in this class.
The test tend to have many trick questions. It is also considerably difficult to know what material to study for as we get little to no guidance and it is impossible to do good on exams unless you take notes on every little thing in the textbook and lectures or go out of your way to go to tutoring which is difficult for most students to do.
Even though I took her course online, Dr. Adams lecture videos were very helpful and helped me so much in lab. She is very easy to reach, and is clear with communication. Exams are fair and she is willing to sit with you and go over exams after taken for clarification. I will 100% be taking Anatomy 2 with Dr. Adams.
Exams were through McGraw-Hill and relied on vague, interpretative questions. Discussion posts were required for minimal points, adding extra work with little benefit. Online lectures and materials didn't clarify exam expectations. Earning an A-/A is still possible with effort.
She's a very good professor and the lectures are super helpful. If you only depend on the book it may be difficult to succeed. Definitely need to dedicate a ton of time to this class. Offers many resources to study as well as using the learning objectives as study guides. She conveys the material well and the discussion posts can be helpful.
