Jessica is a wonderful teacher. I personally loved her teaching style and loved the fact that she taught with such enthusiasm and excitement for the material. In her lectures, she provides numerous examples and never progresses to the next chapter unless she knows that everyone (or mostly everyone) understands the material. I highly recommend her.

Ok, I have not had Ms. Barkin's class, however, I have had many math classes and am convinced my opinion is valuable. Ms. Barkin seems like she has her head screwed on straight. Also, she is a cutie pie. Looks like Pam from the office.

Jessica is one of the few truly influential math instructors existing today. Her enthusiasm is that of a virus. If you pay attention, you will get hooked. The work will challenge you, but each time you finish, you'll feel great about it. I'm a tutor now because of her, and will get my bachelors degree in math with my other degree.

A Mathematics Seraphim. While I wouldn't say I enjoyed the class, because it is math after all, it's the closest you can hope for. Sadly, Jessica's not like most math professors, she is bright, happy and socially adept so she has no need to torture her students unnecessarily. It's challenging and she can be picky on notation but she's awesome.

Her last name was Barkin if you want to read her other reviews! I had to study a lot more for this class vs. 65, but Jess was very thorough & clear in her explanations of each section. She's tough, but fair & ensures her students are prepared for MTH 111. She's smart, funny & has an uncanny gift for motivating students to do well. Highly recommend!

I've now completed a second term with Jessica and I'm sad sad to have to move forward to a different instructor. She has been the most amazing and influential instructor that I've known. If you have to take a calculus class, be sure to get into her class. You won't regret it!

I am pleased to leave Jessica yet another stellar review! I have now had her for both 251 & 252. One would expect the class to get more difficult as you progress however with her impeccable clarity and your attentiveness it becomes extremely easy. If you obtain a bad grade in her classes it's simply your own fault for not utilizing her resources.

Jess is the only teacher you should take for Calc I & II, she uses guided notes that simplify the learning process. Best math teacher I've had (out of 6), nobody tries harder or does more for the student than Jess. She has very complete tests that are hard if you don't come to class or do homework. I honestly can't say enough good things about Jes. She is really organized about her teaching which is extremely helpful. You have to print out notes every week, but it makes studying so easy. Our class used mystatlab instead of book work, and if you can I'd highly reccomend that. It was a huge help being able to have multiple tries at homework.

If you have to take MTH 111 online take it from Jess. She was the most on top of it online instructor I've ever had. Expectations are clear, lectures are great and she offers extra help understanding concepts via email, or through youtube videos. She is a fast grader and a constant online presence. If you have to take a course Professor Bernards happens to teach, bend time and space to make sure you get her as an instructor. You will never have another instructor make you feel as positive and confident about your ability to conquer a subject that is intimidating to most. Everyone in my class loves and respects her.

Jessica quickly and clearly answered any question I emailed to her. She was the most helpful and accessible professor I've ever had, and I've had too many. There are some mistakes in her lecture notes and practice exams, but nothing insurmountable. Her use of MyMathLab was very useful. You don't need to look at the textboook if you don't want to.

This was a super hard class to take online but Jessica was a great teacher. I barely had to use the book because her lecture notes were so much easier to understand. Jessica is a really nice person. She responds to e-mails extremely fast and provides a lot of resources. However, her grading system is WAY too extreme. The midterm and final alone are worth 70% of your grade. If you bomb the midterm, you LITERALLY need a 98% on your final to pass her class. I recommend her for face-to-face, not online.

Jessica was an AWESOME professor! Her online MTH111 course was super organized. She is extremely helpful and supportive. This was one of the hardest classes I'd ever taken (took a lot of study time!) but Jessica made it possible!

Amazing teacher. She's fun, energetic, and incredibly sweet. She's always willing to help and never treats you like you're an idiot for not getting a concept. Assigns a lot of homework and expects it every Monday, but gives two free late assignments per term. Very understanding and caring, and you can tell she loves her subject.

Overall Jessica is a great professor. Her explanation is simple and very clear. She's quick at replying back to emails. She's a little difficult but she wants to make sure you learn and solidify all the material taught in the class through doing extra work. Math 111 has super hard material but Jessica makes it make a lot of sense. She goes above and beyond to help you succeed. There's a lot of homework but it all really helps you to actually learn the material. You don't really need the book but you do need a my math lab code.

Jessica's MTH105 class helped me a ton in preparing for math in the real world. I loved learning how excel is useful for loans and payments. Within the first two weeks, I already felt better prepared for the adult world. The amount of notes she provides is amazing and super helpful, something I'll keep for years down the road. Ms Bernards is literally one of the best math teachers I've ever had! I took her class online yet she still provided outstanding amounts of help both over the web and in person. She has great office hours and responds to emails near immediately with fixes to almost any issue. She's so kind and understanding!

Jessica is a really good professor. You can tell she cares about her job. For this specific class we had a lot of online work, which was blah, but it helps you pass the tests. The tests are average in difficulty and she gives a review for each one. She provides note outlines which is super helpful.

Math online is difficult, but Jessica has prompt responses to any questions and is a quick grader. She is fair and provides many resources and opportunities to learn the topics. The online math site is used for homework and quizzes - it is required to pass the class. The only thing I didn't like about the class were the mandatory discussions.

You do lecture at home and when you come to class she has a really good teaching method and she helps you when you don't understand and she is very patient. Jessica is by far "the" best teacher i have had so far, I was able to learn so much from her and her teaching method rocks, I loved coming to class cause she was always so positive and friendly- something hard to find in teachers nowadays.

Jessica uses a reverse teaching method. At home, watch online lectures that she has uploaded to mymathlab, take notes, then do some practice questions. This ends up taking on average 30m. When in class, you do your "homework". This method is great. It encourages high productivity, and allows more opportunities for help if needed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Jessica does a flip class where you watch lectures outside of class that she made and then in class do group activities and homework. Its still a hard class and you have to put in work but its actually fun! Never thought Id say that about math. Love her!!!

FANTASTIC teacher. I took her online class and she made the material really easy to learn. She really cares about what she's teaching, which definitely reflects in her video lectures, which are SUPER helpful. Love her, would definitely recommend her. The only thing I don't like is that I bought the textbook, only to not use it.

Jessica is the first math professor I've had that actually made math fun. Between weekly kahoot and jeopardy games, to her home made math maze and board game, she made a stereo-typically boring subject matter come to life. She utilized the flipping method which allowed more in class time to get help, and encouraged cooperation with classmates.

Jessica made me actually enjoy math. Prior to taking her class I dreaded anything to do with math but she was able to find a teaching style to help me learn in the best way I could. Doing a flipped class was amazing as it allowed us the students more time to practice the questions instead of listening to lectures. I would 100% take her again.

Jessica is an amazing teacher. Taking this class online over the summer while traveling on the road, I was nervous but ended with an A. Her video lectures are the best way I have ever learned math and they are followed by the practice problems (homework). I never felt overwhelmed and she always reminded us that she is there for us.

I love Jessica's flipped class! At first I wasn't sure how it would work out, but once we got started it's great. We play kahoot and other games in class to practice what we learn at home. Jessica loves answer questions and her answers really help.

Jessica is amazing! This is literally the best math class I have ever taken because of the flipped class style. I learn math much easier because we actually get to do the work in class and learn the lessons as homework. This saves a lot of time because in other classes the lesson takes up to entire class time and little left to actually practice :)

If you hate textbook/lectures, this is the class for you. It's a flipped classroom; it makes students want to learn! Tests/quizzes are all simple as long as you keep up and review your notes. There's lots of printouts for notes, but these will help you in the end. Her passion for math and giving students a safe zone to ask questions is truly rare!

One of the two best math teachers I've had. Really breaks things down clearly and is accessible if you need help. Gives clear study guides for tests, so if someone does poorly, it's because they didn't prepare.

Prof. Bernards made it super easy to understand and I passed the class with a high B. Online - must be disciplined. Extra credit if you turn in your notes when you go to take the test. No late work. Must be able to take the test at the campus at rock creek if you live in / are currently in town- no proctored exams.

MTH111 HYBRID: Jessica is an organized and dynamic instructor which is why this hybrid course works so well. Perfect set up for students who study well on their own, are disciplined to actually do ALL the online work, and come to class prepared to ask questions. Highly recommend this class format and Jessica as the instructor.

If you do ALL the online work (at your own pace, on your own schedule throughout each week) AND show up to class once a week for review and testing, you will most likely get an A in this class. Jessica is a great professor who provides excellent video lectures with fill in the blank and practice homework packets - i.e. hands on work to do while you study each week. That said, consistently I found that the midterm and final were at times more difficult than the questions in homework. Some questions are the same, others- study HARD for it.

She genuinely cares for her students, and if you show that you are willing to put effort in the class, she will absolutely give that effort back if you need help. I wish she taught calculus. The class that I took with Jessica was actually a hybrid, where we did part of the class online and in person. Absolutely loved her lectures because she gave us resources if we needed extra help with anything we felt we couldn't do or understand. She always welcomed questions too. Literally my savior. She's helped me think of math in an entirely new way. For the first time in my life I am engaged and motivated while learning math. I have a math learning disability and used struggle through class every day. Now I'm getting grades in the 90s after thinking math was impossible for me. This flip class restored my faith in math!

Bernards is the BEST teacher I have ever had. The flipped curriculum was a little strange but she made everything so easy to understand. She made sure everything was on track and truly cared about every student passing, and some students stay in contact with her even today. I had Jessica for MTH 11, college algebra, for an online class. It is hard, there is no question about it. It is a ton of work, and if you do not do it all, you will not get a good grade. Jessica is amazing though, and could not have been a better instructor. She made lecture videos, and then gives you print outs to follow along. Always responsive.

She is the best. I took both MTH111 and 112 "flipped model" hybrids with her, and it increased my confidence and math fluency so much! I was hesitant to take a partially online math course, but she made it easy. The in-class work was very interactive, which helped me get a grasp on the concepts we were learning. You seriously wont find a better math professor. She makes videos covering the material that other professors use for their classes. Fast feedback; she wants u to succeed!

She's tough, but it's practically a precalc class. If you're looking for an easy class, you shouldn't be in this class. But for all science, math, and whatever majors that do require a 111 or 112 class, I highly recommend her. Her video lectures are really handy. I would recommend watching all of the videos for one section first, not one at a time.

I have taken both Mth111 /112 with Jessica. Yes, she lets us call her by her first name. She once called and checked in on me personally when I was sick and had a bad exam experience. Yes, you have to work for it and want to learn in an online experience. She gives you all the tools to succeed. Due to her, I now claim to love math!

Jessica is a great professor. Lecture notes were all very helpful and hw assignments provided a ton of practice. It is a hard class, because it requires you to watch a lot of videos and do a lot of homework. But if you actually want to learn and understand math, you wouldn't find a better professor.

I took Math 111 and 112 with Jessica and shes awesome. Its very easy to get in touch with her outside of class and shes always willing to go over anything, even outside of office hours. As a student with a disability, shes always been super understanding and goes out of her way to make sure I have what I need to do my best. Take her class!

The way her video notes are broken down make math much easier to understand. Other professors need to take note from her. You get great practice before exams and she is easy to contact for clarification or help!

Jessica is so wonderful! She's easily the best math teacher I've had. I took this class as a remote class, and her video lectures were really helpful. She goes through concepts once, very clearly, and then moves on. No busy work, only one or two practice problems per concept. Very fair grader. The class's test score average was a 90-95% every time.

I've taken Jessica twice now, and each time she's been thorough and organized. She's exceptional at teaching math, and she's good at responding to emails in a timely fashion. I appreciate her vigor when it comes to pushing for better circumstances for her students.

I personally cheated in this class. I got help from my sister so I got graded down which is valid. However, Jessica is a great professor always here to help out her students even after you leave the course. She has videos for you to watch if you dont understand the concept. I took Ms. Bernards for Math111 and really enjoyed the class. Most of the work was done outside of the classroom through an online program and video lectures that she posts which teach you the material, and a once a week meet up to go over the material. It's a fair amount of work, but I can't recommend this class enough as I learned ALOT in it.

Jessica is the gem of the PCC Math Department. Her online course is so easy to follow. Her videos have everything you need to succeed and she is always right there to help! She was recommended by another awesome math teacher and I would strongly recommend her to any math students.

I believe that Jessica is a great teacher, I just wanted to warn students that there is SUCH a heavy work load that 4-5 nights a week is expected to work on this class. I had to drop it due to my work schedule not allowing me sufficient time for this class. I would gladly re-enroll with this instructor if my situation was any different.

VidWorksheets are made f/your benefit and help. The learning platform is decent w/the tutor-steps feature, but wh/studying f/exams I skipped around to the more difficult questions. What was much more useful f/exams were the Exam Reviews(contains problems expected on tests and being able to work through the review problems saved me numerous times).

Math has always been my worst subject since forever but the way Jess structures her class really helped me remember the material. I thought some of the practice and exam questions were more difficult than what we went over in the lectures but overall the structure of this class was spot on.

Perfect execution on the number of problems on each other her assignments. She seems to value quality over quantity in terms of the learning and practice assignments. Professor Bernards was one of my favorite teachers at PCC! She does assign a good amount of homework and assignments but it all sets you up super well for exams. She responds quickly to emails and is extremely willing to help you whenever you need it. I would definitely recommend taking math with her!

Prof Jessica is a tough but fair instructor. She has a wide array of tools to help you succeed in Math & takes an interest in how you're doing. As an example, she requires to meet with you during the first week to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. Provides extra credit and if you put in the work, you should be able to pass.

Bernards is one of the best professors at PCC you'll find. MTH 251 web can be difficult but don't hesitate to show up to her office hours or shoot her an email. Make sure you take time to actually practice concepts since it's easy to just skim through the material when it's online.

I failed this class twice, but Jessica made calculus crystal clear. She's encouraging and kind, and makes sure her students know that she's there for them. As long as you stay on top of your work, it's straight forward and relatively simple. Her study guides are also done really well.

She's awesome! I absolutely hate math, but she made class so fun and engaging and it was online. She's so sweet, super young and very understanding. You can tell she really wants you to succeed. There are about 5 assignments every week, but they're super easy (even for me).

Jessica is one of those teachers who is a credit to the entire profession. She has deep knowledge of the materials but has not forgotten what it was like to be an average student. Also, she has a profoundly low degree of judgement and will burn down mountains to help you succeed (both inside and outside of her courses.) This class was great but very intensive, probably because I took it over the summer. It's broken down into manageable sections and the videos you have to watch were short but informative and taught everything that was needed. Note packets were provided and very helpful to look back on. I wish I had her for my Calc 3 class.

Taking her online 112 class right now at UO. It's a lot of work, but exams are straight from homework and quiz questions so as long as you ask questions when you have them you should be fine. Get to use a notecard too on them. Don't miss assignments or cheat when doing homework or you'll be screwed.

Took this class through UO expecting to get nothing out of it and was proven so wrong! This class is genuinely valuable for the real world, and a lot of the material is intuitive. Professor Bernards is also very easy to communicate with and wants to help her students however she can. If you usually hate math like me this course is the move!!!

Jessica is fantastic. She has virtual office hours and responds to emails quickly. Expect to spend at least 7-8 hours a week studying. There are lessons, practice assignments, a lab, and a quiz each week. The workload is heavy but necessary to retain and understand the concepts. I loved this class and I would definitely take it again.
