Mastering chem was a pain but so worth it because it made you learn the material. You should go to class because she teaches well, but the powerpoints are always online if you don't.

Dr. Brown was a really sweet person, but wasn't the best teacher. We flew through the last four chapters because we were so behind, and were still tested on the material the last day of class. This class was absolutely horrible and the prof was disrespectful and nasty as any prof I have ever had. If you ask her any questions after she did not explain anything she would get mad and tell you off. The work she gives is insane and the hard gross work on top of the disgusting treatment is not worth anything, do not take. GPA destroyer.

I enjoyed having Dr. Brown! The neg ratings are from those who didn't try. She goes off PowerPoints, and writes on them to work out problems. She's interactive in class, gives EC through Mastering HW, is helpful in office hours (virtual & in-person options), and replies to emails promptly! Chill in labs too. I don't think she's passive aggressive.

Dr. Brown is a great professor, she thoroughly goes over the concepts and is very clear about what will appear in the exams. She goes over exams during office hours and is very accommodating to students. Participation does matter but she guides her students well if they are having trouble. I would recommend taking her for both chem 1 and chem 2.

She doesn't give extra credit no matter what. Gives a lot of homework and her exams are hard. I stuided a lot and was doing okay until the ACS. STUDY FOR THE CHEM 2 ACS!!

Dr. Brown isn't a bad teacher, she answers emails and she explains in her office hours. She doesn't give extra credit but her exams aren't bad. Just try and get help outside of school. I was doing well in the beginning of her class (I had a B-) then the acs came around and dropped my grade. STUDY FOR CHEM 2 ACS! It will either help you or hurt you!

Dr. Brown explains things very clearly and she is very patient with you. She will always be very nice even if you don't know something and won't make you feel bad. She is very helpful in her office hours. Everything on her tests is on her PowerPoints. If you do the practice tests she posts on Canvas, you're guaranteed to do well on the actual exams

She goes extremely fast during lectures so unless you've taken AP chem, this is gonna be a slap in the face lol. Not only that, her labs are time consuming and pre-labs will quite literally drain you. Her homework relates nothing to the actual material, and outside studying is basically the only way you will survive.

Dr. Brown is a very good lecturer. It is important that you put the work in though because this class is very content heavy. She offers extra credit on the Pearson homework assigments. It is important to stay on top of your work because there is a lot of homework in the class, but have good time management and pay attention to rubics.

Dr. Brown is a great professor! I thought chem was going to be extremely difficult but she made the class easier. She gives chapter homeworks with extra credit questions included and the homeworks helps to enforce information. The exams are not too difficult as long as you study and she does provide chapter exams!

The lectures are very informative and I learned a lot but she is A LOT of work. There are pre-lab assignments every week where you have to copy down the entire lab manual you do online assignments in class sometimes and if you don't show up you will get a zero. I would retake her because I learned so much and the concepts made sense.

Brown was traumatic for me. She makes you write the whole lab manual for every lab, which is so extra and time-consuming. If you don't attend lecture, you can't go to lab WHATSOEVER. Her exams do not relate to the Pearson assignments (Pearson takes at least an hour and a half to do...) DO NOT TAKE!!!

Overall, Dr. Brown is not a terrible professor. Her PowerPoints contain a lot of material, so in many cases, they are beneficial. She talks A LOT but is often very helpful when you ask her a question. Some pre-quizzes are very difficult in the lab, and the labs are graded to a T. Be prepared to work a lot for this class.
