Jessica is very organized. She has a power point presentaion to go along with the lectures. If you just pay attention to the lectures and take notes, the class is pretty easy. If you need to take PSY 100, be sure to get her.

kinda strange...but one kind of has to be in order to want to go into the psychology field...she keeps the class interesting because she has interesting little stories that keep the student alert and interested...

She is an excellent professor! Essays are easy points and you get to make notes for exams! Can't beat that! She knows that some of the material is difficult and works with you to make sure you understand! I also had S. Mikulay who's lecture's are entertaining, but his exams are EXTREMELY difficult and he doesnt care compared to Mrs. Carpenter!

I enjoyed the class cuz of the great professor. she teaches very well and makes the material fun and easy to learn. she's also easy going and funny, which makes it easier for the students to connect to their professor and enjoy the time spent in class.

Great teacher! She knows and seems to love pyschology. You have basically no work. Only a few tests, very simlple essays due on the day of the test, and one journal assignment. She's very good at explaining things and reading the students to make sure that we're all following. Very funny, says a lot of random funny stuff haha

You can use a 3x5 index card for all the of tests. be sure to do the HOMEWORK. if you don't do the homework but take the tests then you FAIL. I'd reccommd her because you will LEARN about psychology!

This is a very good educator and if you go to class for a great teacher and not how she dresses you will do great. She is VERY clear on what she wants and you must do your work, this is not an easy A but if your not a putz and do your work you will do great. She will help anyone, anytime. Great teacher! Always willing to help her students and explains the material in a very clear, and organized way.

If you do poorly (like get a D or E on all of them) on tests, essays, but come to class, get at least a C on the journal assigment (which is unless by the way and stupid) then you will get a failing grade. If you come to all of the classes then you get to use a 3 by 5 index card which is helpful.

I took the internet class. Pretty easy. Use the workbook to help you study. I went from a C to a B after I started using it. Only drawback is she is not flexible in case of a missed test. I flunked a test because of a computer problem and she refused to help me. Lesson learned was take tests early!

You get credit for coming to class, so come! She's a great prof. Enthusiastic, knows the subject, good powerpoints, and open to questions. Homework is EASY, get it in on time. Although she accepts late work until she hands it back, I wouldn't make it a habit. Her test taking policy is not very flexible so be there for exams (& you get a notecard).

I took the telecourse. This course was very interesting, you do have to write 25 essays but they only have to be 1/2 page long double spaced so not to bad... As long as you study you will do fine. She always has papers graded promptly. Which is a plus. I would recommend her to anyone.

Idk if i have the right code but i took intro to psychology (PSYCH. 1). Every class period was a powerpoint lecture. Fonrtunately, she makes it fun cuz she has a histarical sense of humor. U def. need to study for her tests and do the assignment for each chapter. If u do these two things ur set for atleast a B. I recommend her! MAKE SURE TO STUDY!

She is a hard teacher and expects a lot of out of her students. We have to remember that this is a college class and not high school. She is fair and even though her class is NOT the easiest if one follows the instructions and puts in the effort then it can be done. SHE IS NOT SO BAD AND IS VERY FUNNY

This is by far the easiest class that I have ever taken. These other posters need to realize that they're in college and actually have to try had to succeed. Take the online course--Watch a few videos, take 12 short quizzes and write 24 paragraphs. There is no excuse for not earning an A. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND

This class was very clearly laid out, and the assignments were true to what needed to be taught. I didn't have to speak with the professor too much, but thought what she said in posts and on assignments was helpful and appropriate.

Very fun to watch lecture, course was layed out so you knew what was due from the first day, you need to read the book but its an easy read, not a hard grader, not an easy class, little intimidating when you email her, but face-face convos are better.

Honestly, she is one of the best professors at Elgin Community College. I couldn't have asked for a better professor. I definitely think everyone should sign up for her classes! She's hilarious, knows what she's talking about, and makes psychology something worth learning. :)

This is definitly a self teach class. Ms. Carpenter is great if something happens as long as you have lots of documentation. Much of the feedback on the weekly posts is very personal but usually positive.

This is definitely a self-taught type of class. The professor is helpful with feedback and very clear on expectations for the course. I would definitely suggest taking this class to anyone who is self-motivated.

took life span online, very easy class to lose track of time with so take note of when stuff is do. Overall very easy, midway in I stopped reading the chapters and just printed the vocab list and studied it and kept it next to me while taking exam. Some questions will require the book, but overall you can get an A with little effort.

She is an awesome lifespan development teacher. She puts no pressure on students to do things from one day to another, even if an emergency occurs. She is very clear in what she expects, everything is explained in the syllabus. Oh yeah, NO PLAIGARISM!! You will fail!!

I took her online class. Make sure to read the texts and follow the deadlines. It was a very interesting class and was not hard at all. Discussion boards and quizzes weekly, so as long as you stay on time you will be fine. Also extra credit is allowed weekly.

I took her in summer in a telecourse class. We had four units, three chapters within a unit, and we had two weeks to complete each unit. She graded us based on three chapter quizes and two essays for each unit. She also offered many points for easy extra credit. Take her, you won't regret it!

Carpenter is one of my favorite professors at ECC! I took her my first semester and she was really helpful. She definitely knows her stuff and her class was a lot of fun. You have to read your text book a lot but there were only 3 tests the whole semester and one project

I took PSY 100 online, it was an easy/interesting class. I think there were 5 tests and 10 short essays total. The topics covered were interesting. She is a pretty easy grader and there are several extra credit opportunities. Would def recommend this class to people. Her syllabus is a bit overwhelming. Def going to take another one of her classes.

I learned a lot, maybe not book wise, as I did not read it a lot, but in terms of practical use, it really affects how I manage children and works very well. She has a good sense of humor making the class interesting, easy to pay attention.

Great teacher! Easy A! Grades fast! Class consists of reading the text book (which is surprisingly interesting and relatable). Take the quizzes, and write 2 essays each "unit." It's that simple. And as long as you answer the essay questions and show you're putting effort in them, you'll get 100% on them. The quizzes online are obviously open book.

Dr. Carpenter is a very fair grader and offers lots of extra credit. You have to write a lot, but as long as you do the work on time and follow directions you pretty much get full credit. Quizzes are pretty simple. Definitely recommend her.

As a professor, I found Dr. Jessica Carpenter to be great. She's a very informative, understanding and helpful. As far as the class that I took, I learned a lot of things that actually helped me to understand some things that I went through as in my youth. Over all this was the best class I've taken since I've started ECC.

really enjoyed her online child psych class. The quizzes were easy and all she required was that you post and participate in the discussions. she seemed to comment on everyones posts and she really knew the content of the course. She was helpful and got back to you quickly. She takes citing very seriously but you mostly need it for extra credit.

She goes over her power points but is very knowledgeable and her lectures are easy to sit thru. She does have attendance tho. Mrs. Carpenter is an awesome teacher! I had no interest in psychology in the beginning of the course, and I now plan to major in it. Her class isn't an easy A, but it isn't hard either. Her lessons are so clear, making it easy to understand the subject. She is strict with attendance and turning in assignments in on time.

Amazing teacher! She does an amazing job of explaining the chapters. You do need to show up for class or she will drop you. Take the practice quiz before taking the graded quiz and you will be fine.

All the quizzes & tests are online and there's no final; just a project due @ the end of the semester, which i suggest you get started on the 1st day of class. Emailing her is the best way to contact her & she gets back to you less than 12 hours.

this class was fairly interesting wound up with an A. 2 essays per unit and 3 tests. read the chapter completely and take notes and you will easily get an A! ECC sold me the wrong book ONCE AGAIN so I got C's on the first 2-3 tests, finally got the right book and started getting high B's and A's on the tests!

I took the online class and when I read the syllabus I thought OMG. The first quizzes are a pain but then the class is fine! I found to be the lectures really interesting. She is not a taught grader. If you do you work, she is fair! Good class.

This class was interesting and easy to get involved in. All tests were online which made it easy to look up answers on the e-book by typing in key points. It is not an easy A, but you just need to show up and get your discussion posts & replies in on time.. and also the tests. She is very smart and will help you as long as you make an effort.

She has the longest syllabus I have ever seen but she is one of the most helpful instructors I have ever had. She is very clear in her feedback and instructions. Her Psychology 218 class was everything I expected and if you try your hardest you will do just fine in her class. Best psychology instructor in my point of view.

HATED this class. Professor has a 30-page long syllabus, which makes it really difficult to concentrate on what you need to do. VERY specific and not reading it will result in loss of points. Quizzes are hard if you don't read book. Gives very detailed criticism - it's a PSYCH class not a WRITING class. Unfortunately no other to take it with. :(

Great Professor. Passionate and smart. Online class can be overwhelming. So many rules and standards, I had to study the syllabus 3 days to figure out the class. Put effort into essays. Reads and analyzes every single word. Make sure you have an into, supporting paragraphs, and conclusion or she'll take points off. A lot of reading for exams.

She is very helpful, not sure ask. Syllabus EXTENSIVE!!! A LOT of reading, even for the syllabus Be very detailed with reading material. Don't skim through the reading. Quizzes can be tricky. Will take off points. Gives good feed back. BE ON TIME with assignments.

I have had great and horrible experiences with online classes and this was a great one! As others have mentioned, the syllabus is long and overwhelming when getting started. But I found that being able to refer to EXACTLY what a teacher wants and expects is a great thing. I found this to be a great online experience.

TEST WERE HARD! I received a D on literally every one of them. Papers were easy A on all. One big project at the end, but its fun. Jessica is awesome though-she is funny and knows exactly what she is talking about-she's very smart and educated. I actually was excited to go to class and learn.

Dr. Carpenter has clear expectations from her students from the get-go. She is very knowledgeable in her field and gives great feedback for every assignment, even tests. You need to read the textbook to be successful. Put the effort in and get assignments in on time, and you will get an A. Plus, the material is very interesting! I loved this class!

Every two weeks you have a test (75 questions) and every 4 weeks you do a discussion essay about the textbook. The tests are straight from the textbook, so make sure to read through it at least twice. You can get 20 points of extra credit by taking 2 quizzes early on, and by adding outside reserach into your essays. Practice quizzes are offered too

Dr. Carpenter is amazing teacher. Her lectures were interesting and useful for quizzes and exams. I like her sense of humor.

Jessica Carpenter was overall a good professor. You take an exam every Sunday and have a quiz every Monday or Wednesday. The chapters are very long and HARD. After three chapters you have to write two essays. Overall, I liked her sense of humor but if you need a class that doesn't require a lot of work, than this class isn't for you.

She is the best!!! She is so entertaining because she's really fun and has basically traveled the world. She is such a passionate and caring person. She is very approachable and gives all the feedback that you would need to be successful in her class. All of her quizzes and tests are online; however, there is one quiz and one test every week. Dr Carpenter was an excellent professor! The class I took was an online course, but Dr Carpenter was great! The class was tough, but very fair. You won't coast to an A here. I would highly recommend her!

Carpenter really makes you work for your grade but she is a great teacher who makes lectures enjoyable. Attendance point are huge so, if you cannot be on time do not take her class. The tests are heavy as they are scenario based, not definition based. However, the quizzes and essay are super easy if you do everything correctly.

dr carpenter was my favorite professor this semester. she's funny, super organized, and her lessons are interesting. all the quizzes, tests, and essays are online. you can skip a few lectures but you HAVE to read the book to pass. she makes a review guide for each exam so i always made a little cheat sheet that i used during the tests. great class.

Dr. Carpenter's class was awesome! There's a lot of work so take it only if you're interested in learning. Her lectures are very refreshing with real-life examples. You need to be on top of your reading because there are out of class quizzes and exams every week and essays every 3 weeks. Extra points for attendance so dont skip class.

Great teacher! Really funny, so the lectures were bearable. Just do the quizzes and test on time and you'll do good. Quizzes are open book. I know a lot of my classmates felt the tests were "too advance for an intro class" though. The mini essays are an easy A! Attendance counts. The final is a presentation (not bad, just follow instructions).

Dr. Carpenter is honestly a great professor. Her class was interesting. She had plenty of stories and small in-class demonstrations to go along with the lecture. She is really funny and overall likable. Tests and quizzes weren't that bad, but you have to read the book to fully understand a lot of the topics. Definitely would take one of her classes

Dr. Carpenter was by far the best professor I had this past semester. Her homework quizzes are very easy and helps a lot. She gives great examples in lecture which help out on the tests. All exams are online and very easy if you do the work. If you are looking to take this class, I highly recommend taking Dr. Carpenter!

Any instructional piece she gives you is SPOT ON. I literally never had to ask questions on things we needed to turn in because everything she expected was on the paper. Just make sure to read the book. Everything is online and conveniently spaced out so you're not overwhelmed. Her lectures are interesting and informative. Take her if you can!!

Dr. Carpenter is hilarious! She makes psychology relatable by using humor and everyday examples to tie the information to your personal life. There are online tests every week, but you're allowed to use your textbook and notes. This class wasn't crazy difficult, but you do have to stay on track/hold yourself accountable to maintain a good grade.

Dr. C was a decent professor, however I feel like the class I took should've been labeled as a hybrid class since 99% of graded work was online (exams and quizzes included). She was easy to get ahold of and understanding when I had a family emergency arise. EXTREMELY lecture-heavy, but they were somewhat enjoyable.

Energetic, entertaining professor and fairly straight forward. Her lectures are great and she makes sure you have all the notes you need. If you do the weekly work and follow her directions, you will be just fine. Weekly exams online get kind of annoying, but they are never outside of what you learn in class. Overall fantastic professor!

Honestly this course was a breeze. Her instructions are clear and as long as you follow them, you'll do great. Make sure you do the online reviews of the chapters you should have read, the chapter tests are easier if you do. I did not read a single chapter and still passed the class with flying colors. Don't be afraid of the work load, it's easy!

Tons of tests and short essays that are all done on your own time (online). The entire class time is lectures which she keeps interesting for the most part. Individual Presentation as the end of the semester. Good professor but this class will take some work.

I took Dr. Carpenters online class. Everything is very well organized, and she offers an abundance of information to ensure you understand the information. Dr. Carpenter is not only a great teacher, but she is supportive and has a great sense of humor (just watch her power point presentations lol very informative and entertaining)

In this online class you get graded by your participation in discussions and exams. The teacher is great about providing feedback on everything you do. She also provides power point lessons and additional information for the course. Very helpful!

If there are More self testing, it will help students to understand this course better and do better in exams.

Really good professor, the class is heavily dependant on the readings, activities, and studying class materials. She always takes the time to give clear and concise feedback on assignments, and always gives you advice on how to improve.

She is a amazing teacher in and outside of the classroom. Always willing to help you and tries to include the whole class to participate so its not the same people. She tries to make lecture always interesting . I would definitely take this class again.

Gives very clear instructions with homework, tests, and school work. Also very helpful if you don't understand it. I suggest going to class because she does have some stricter attendance rules, but she makes class and lectures interesting enough to make students want to show up. Very respectful and caring to her students, I would take her again.

Shes a great teacher! With that said, her classes are just lectures every time. Its not hard to come to class and be ready, but her exams are every week and she makes them thorough**. So be ready to ready Your textbook because its Necessary. She answers your emails quickly and shes willing to help you succeed. A lot of the work is dependent.

This class was genuinely interesting. Carpenter is super funny and tells you exactly what you need to know. Just do your work and you'll be perfectly fine. Super well structured and easy to stay on top of.

Prof. Carpenter is a great teacher, especially if you are taking classes online. Some things you need to know is that her class is going to be time-consuming. The book for the class is awful, you need to read 2 to 3 chapters every 2-3 weeks but the chapters in the book was too long and disorganized, so be ready getting confused about everything.

Practice tests that you can take as many times as you want for each chapter- really helped with the actual exams. Multiple chances for extra credit. Discussion posts and replies: if you follow her rubric and discussion handout for the basic 5 paragraph essay you will have all the tools you need to write an A essay. Online revel book only one I used

Professor Carpenter has lectures on d2L to help you understand the content. Her discussion posts and reply post feedback was pretty good, it was hard to get a good grade on the discussion posts. I learned a lot though and shes funny and nice;)

Dr. Carpenters online class was very well structured which i liked, you knew when everything was due and what was coming up. It is a lot of reading from your textbook but overall what you read is interesting so it makes it easier to do. Would def recommend her for this course.

PLEASE TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!! I was in her online class due to covid, but you could tell by her lectures that shes such a sweet person. She's hilarious. I enjoyed her essay exams so much. She gives questions that are so outside the box and they are amazing. Although she has a long syllabus, she wont be snarky if you email her. LOVED HER!

Jessica Carpenter it's an amazing instructor. Her course is an easy A if you put the work in. Her lectures are engaging, but don't want them around children or if you don't have a sense of humor. She tells you exactly what she wants, it's written all out in the syllabus. You'll regret it if you don't take this course with her.

This course is based on mini essay discussions and responses and tests. She gives good feedback on the posts tells you exactly what shes looking for to do next time. Shes very accessible outside of class. All the topics for the discussion posts are already there! Do the extra credit assignments in case you do bad it helps so much!

This is the best professor to take for pysch 100. This was my second time taking it and the professor I had before was extremely unhelpful. This professor was extremely helpful and was really good and explaining everything. The tests werent overly hard along with the essays. Highly recommend her

I took this course during the pandemic and had her "asynchronous" class. If you have a question the answer is probably in the syllabus. The essays are easy as long as you follow the directions. Provides good feedback on how to make it stronger. Chapters are long so prepare for that. Reading is a must to do well on the exams. Would take her again.

I thought Dr. Carpenters class was moderate on the difficulty level but she really works to make sure you succeed. She gives awesome feedback and replaced everyones lowest exam score with their highest at the end of the semester which helped a lot. Overall great experience and Id definitely take her again.

I just took her class over the summer but it went by so fast so it was hard to really absorb the material. All of her essay prompts were so fun to write. I didn't really study for tests because her lectures were very informative and I got an A in the class. I would love to take another one of her classes at some point!

Mrs. Carpenter was a great teacher! She set up the grades by unit, so it would become easier to figure out how to pas the class and do better on the fallowing unit. She was deaf helpful at times when I needed help understanding something, and she was nice and an easy grader. I loved reading about mental health disorders and about sociopaths.

Overall good professor good class but 212 felt even harder to keep up with than 100. Lots of info from the textbook to remember on top of watching the very long lectures while studying for the exam and also trying to write the 700 word essays. I felt like I was drowning.

Honestly I took this professor twice and o loved her class she makes it fun to learn and gives good feedback and makes you feel worth doing your hard work. I enjoyed it she's super chill and gives extra credit so take advantage!

The class was very well structured, you knew ahead of time when everything was due and could work ahead if you wanted to. She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and the couple of times I emailed her she responded quickly. I would definitely take another class with her.

Yes, she does give a lot of work, but if you can't get it done it's probably because you don't care. Despite the workload, it's easy to get ahead in this class. Create a routine and you will be fine. Carpenter is a very knowledgable professor and this class has taught me a ton. Beware of plagiarism/AI, she will know and snipe you. Just do your job.

Read her syllabus and expectations. It's lengthy and feels dense but do not let that intimidate u, she lays everything out for u in her syllabus & why she might be tough on u is because you are not reading & comprehending! Her classes require higher grade reading, comprehension and critical thinking- a requirement for future med/science students.

Personally, I really enjoyed this class. This professor was very sweet. Classes consisted of lectures. Take notes and you're all good. It may seem like lots of quizzes/exams, but you can use your notes on everything, and everything she talks about in class is on those exams/quizzes.

Dr. Carpenter was an amazing professor. Her course is very direct and displays what is needed in order to receive a good grade. Prepare to read and take notes for every chapter, but on the bright side those notes can be used during chapter exams and quizzes. Overall, the course can be enjoyable if you put in the effort to learn.

Dr. Carpenter is an amazing professor! After taking her class, I decided to major in psychology. She allows retakes for quizzes and tests which honestly helped me a lot. She gives amazing lectures and is passionate about what she is teaching. She is very open to others' input and is very open minded. I highly recommend taking this class!
