Worst teacher that I have EVER EVER EVER had. Extremely boring, unhelpful, notes not clear at all. She gives a review with like 100 terms and only tests on 5 of them! Assignments not clear, hard grader, no extra credit. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Not bad if you don't mind studying and reading 20 hours a day..or spending over 200 on text books...or being bored out of your mind in class...
She's really not that bad. Tests aren't that hard. She gives you all the questions beforehand. You definitely have to study, but it's not hard to pass. Grades very easy on essays.
worst professor ever... you need 4 books for the class...boring lectures everyday...review with like 87 terms and only 4 you need to know for the test...A LOT of reading...DO NOT TAKE HER!
The course wouldn't be so bad if your entire grade wasn't based on writing assignments. The class is basically read, write a paper, read some more, write another paper. The only two exams consist of only short answer and essay. Lectures are boring; two diff. textbooks keep you confused w/ material
Want to be devastatingly bored 3 times a week for 50 minutes? This is the class for you! There is also plenty of time to waste reading with two textbooks, novels, and primary sources.
She's young, but doesn't exhibit the kind of charisma and geniality (in class, at least) that you'd expect from someone her age. Also doesn't seem knowledgeable or interested in the topic...occassionally gets facts wrong and has students correct her. Could use some pointers. Fun to talk to, though.
She is a very nice person, and is understanding if you have problems with a paper (forget to hand in part of it, trouble with how to go about writing it). If you enjoy history and learn well with lectures, I'd recommend this class.
DO NOT TAKE HER! seriously just dont do it! so not worth it! she has NO CLUE what she is talking about, all grades are based on writing, extremely hard grader and very unfair about it. boring as****, needs to learn some history and then try teaching it. complete waste of money on FOUR books
Nice woman but not a very good teacher. Tests aren't set up well at all! Doesn't sound interested in what she's teaching. VERY BORING CLASS!
it's just one of those classes:you go to class, she lectures the entire time, you take notes, you have a midtern and a final (and 2papers) and you study all your notes for the tests - know key terms and youll do ok. i would suggest taking her if you have already have a semi-decent bckground in hist.
Should be a relatively easy class if you took AP in high school. She's willing to help with any questions you have...unfortunately, I don't think it's really not that great of a class and i actually love history.
I found this class to be very interesting, and her lectures to be engaging. She really DOES know what she's talking about and she is a very nice and approachable person. I would definitely recommend this class!
The class was basically a review of everything you learned in 9th and 10th grade history, only it's in a semester. The class moves fast and covers a lot, but it is really interesting material. Ms. Davidson is a really friendly person and her lectures are all well-organized and thorough.
Wow...this class was very boring, its all lecture and take notes! I meaan, what kind of history teacher cares about grammar on your essay!?? Very strict with her essays but very easy to pull a B. I would recommend a different teacher but if you wanna sleep then take this class.
As it's been said, Ms. Davidson is very nice and friendly, and seem knowledgable, but her teaching style is awful. It's a straight-up lecture with absolutely no interaction. No material is gone over or analyzed, there's just info and more info. Study for tests by looking up review sheet terms online
Very interesting class, but sometimes she spends too much time going over the events, rather than what women actually had to do with it. Midterm, final, and about 4 papers to write on the books she chooses. Not a hard class.
nice lady, but as a history major, i thought this class was pretty useless. you watch a few movies, read novels instead of primary sources and the papers can be BSed easily. she was always corrected by students in class. take the class if you aren't that interested in the subject
Easy class. Not a strict attendance policy, but EVERYTHING is in class lecture. A few easy papers you can BS, but for some reason she grades also on grammar.
do not buy the book. i didnt read a single page all year and got a B. i hardly studied but for like at most an hour. definitely an easy A if you put for an effort.
I felt that the class was interensting. She's nice and approachable. Willing to work with you if you have any problems. Grades really hard, but is willing to help. I recommend Prof. Davidson.
The material was interesting enough because I happen to like women and European history. There was a fair amount of reading, 4 or 5 papers and two exams. Some of the paper topics aren't very clear so make sure to ask her what she is looking for. Being one of the few guys in this women's history course I always made sure to come to class ;-)
she was the nicest lady ever! the class was really well structured and easy to follow, going to class wasnt hard and i liked going! she really knows her stuff and a super nice lady. i would definatly recommend her!
Prof Davidson presented the material in a very structured fashion and it was clear what she wanted out of you in her class. She was really nice and understanding. You have to take a lot of notes but you learn a lot.
Davidson had the honor of helping change my major from ISS to anything but. However, I had her as a brand new prof, and she hadn't quite gotten the knack for things yet...I hope. Maybe she's a good teacher now. On the plus side, she grades papers very easily. I deserved Cs, but got Bs and As.
wow people, she isn't as bad as you all are saying she is. She is VERY clear, gives you outlines to follow by, all you have to do is go to class and take notes. Yes you do have to read a couple books but one of them I just read on Sparknotes, so it isn't bad. Her assignments are fair and straightforward, and she is very smart and helpful...........

Professor Davidson knows her stuff. The tests are kind of difficult, so make sure you go to class and take good notes off her outlines. Papers aren't too bad as long as you read the book. She is always available to help you. The MOST important thing to remember to do well in her class is to go to class and be prepared to take ALOT of notes:)
I hated this class! Nice lady, not a great teacher. 2 tests (essays), 2 papers from books, 2 quizzes before each test, 2 other homework assignments. She grades the essays hard in my opinion. I thought I was a good writer until I took this class. She is CRAZY about dates and "going into depth" on you writing. Too much material to know for each test
Not that bad, I put it little to no effort and walked out with a B. She grades freshman differently than upperclassmen, so if you are looking for incredibly easy credits, think twice. Worth taking, boring lecture, 2 papers, 2 midterms (quizzes essentially), and a final. Big on essay exams though, wants really specific content in essays. Worth takin
extremely clear and concise. yes, you do take a lot of notes, BUT she makes outlines that are easy to follow. She is understanding, helpful, young so she relates well to students, isn't boring, very smart. overall, wonderful professor. i've have her for 395 and this class, i would recommend her to anyone. study your notes and you will be fine.
She grades essays harshly, hope that the TA grades yours.Your paper will come back in three weeks or so.I had her for a 3 hour twice a wk block class and we got out early everytime. One of our potential essays on the final, she didnt even cover in class. She was too lazy to do that lecture.DONT buy the main text books,I dont know anyone who opened it
no no no. Lazy, if she actually taught class I might have come away with something. Her lectures are dull as are most history lectures. You work hard and you will get a b, unless you are amazing at essays.
uhhhhh, definately not my fav professor, about liberal as they get which can be expected I geuss. If I knew I would be taking high school english again, I would have taken another gened. she grades HARSH on essays. dont take her unless you just want to complain all semester
Class isn't too hard, essays are graded a little ridiculously, even for a college course. She'll take off a few points if you cover everything except one tiny point, and don't forget grammar. Listen and take notes on literally everything she says, study that, and you should do fine on tests. Midterms/finals aren't that bad
Sooooo...European women's history didn't sound too interesting to me at first, but she made it fairly interesting. I feel like I learned a pretty good deal. She can be a tough grader and there were a couple times where I felt like she was too nit-picky about dumb stuff. But not a bad class, and she's a nice woman.
She's a really great prof. I truly enjoyed her European Women's History class, and I took another class with her after. Her tests are challenging, but not bad - she's probably my fav. professor at JMU!
My second time with her and even a better experience this time around! In this class she gives NO TESTS, only papers, and 1 presentation. Still a difficult grader, but she looks for improvement as well. Also, reaction papers each week - easy! she doesnt grade them, just collects, reads, and gives you credit! Highly Recommended! She's a sweetheart!
seriously, all these people saying shes hard are pretty wrong..this is coming from a slacker. I wish every class could be like this. Had a half sem. class with her, 3 hrs and it wasnt bad. Tests come DIRECTLY from her notes. Grades essays a little hard, except for the ones on exams..but will easy as long as you have a lot of info. Strict attendance
I have taken professor Davidson twice and have loved her classes. Tests are uber easy and straight from notes. Essays are graded a little hard but just use a lot of quotes, she likes to know you actually read the material :)
Pretty easy tests, they come directly from the notes during her lectures. Write down what she says and you will be fine. Grades essays a little harshly, but they topics aren't difficult. Not a bad professor, one of the more interesting gened profs.
This class is pretty easy, just take notes from what she says and you'll do fine on tests. Essays are graded somewhat hard. Just include LOTS of details and explain yourself well and you'll do fine. Takes attendance. Makes class really interesting!
If you do the work you're supposed to do, then you will get a good grade. She is a pretty fair grader and is always willing to discuss the grade she has given you one on one. Her lectures are interesting and you can tell that she really does love what she teaches. I would take a history class with her again if the opportunity presented itself :)
I am not interested in history but i didn't mind going to class, she is a really good teacher and as long as you go to class and take good notes you will do fine. never opened the book and got a b+
I LOVE HER! She is an amazing professor...her lectures were amazing, she really loves history and knows how to get that across..the tests and quizzes were so simple, all you really had to do was come to class and take good notes. The book was semi-helpful but overall it's her lecture where she gets the most test/quiz material from. Got A on papers.
The class itself was very hard, but Dr. Davidson made it about as bearable as anyone could. She is a great professor and gives good help on your essays if you go to her office hours and ask. Would highly recommend taking her.
She is probably one of the nicest people ever. Met with her for office hours and made me really like her. Class is easy. Never opened the textbook and got a b+
Dr. Davidson is my favorite professor at JMU, this was my 2nd class with her. Her class was interesting and full of great discussion. The people on here who rated her poorly are probably not history majors and probably didn't care about the class so it's their loss. She's so helpful during office hours and knows a ton about the subject matter.
I really enjoyed professor davidson's lectures. I had never really had in an interest in history before this class but professor davidson is so enthusiastic and actually makes the subject really interesting.
Prof. Davidson is SUCH a nice lady! She's knows so much and is so passionate about history. She's also willing to answer any questions you have during class and is very helpful. I didn't really like history, but she made it interesting. I would recommend taking this class, it's easy and the prof. is great.
I am not a history person AT ALL, but Professor Davidson made it interesting. She grades tough on written assignments but is always willing to talk about your grade in office hours. There are 2 writing assignments, 2 quizzes, a Midterm and A Final. Midterm and final both had essays but they were double spaced and only 2-3 pages long
I am not a history person but Davidson made it easy to get through the class. All her questions on the tests come from her lectures but she only gives relevant information so its not hard to study. Go to class and you should be fine.
Davidson is a professor who knows how to get discussion flowing in the classroom. She incorporates a healthy amount of both straight lecture and discussion of primary sources, and usually throws in a couple of movies that relate to the topic as a breather. Exams are generally take home 4-5 page essays at 300 level, but puts it to the class to vote.
I loved this class, and love history! Davidson is good at lecturing. You have 1 quiz (20 ques. short answers) midterm(take home paper, 20 ques.) quiz (same as before) final (take home paper, 20 ques, read a book write essay during exam). Overall I recommend her class 100%!!!
EXCELLENT teacher! Take her! Very clear. Very fair. Test come straight from lecture. Bring your laptop to class every time and take notes word for word on her lectures.
This is probably the most interesting class I have ever taken at JMU. The readings aren't hard and are definitely worth reading - I talk about this class so much all my roommates want to take it too. Midterm and final. 5 reflection papers that are easy just your opinion. Overall a great class I will be sad when it is over.
Dr. Davidson was a great teacher! She is very fair and gives a doable amount of work. I loved going to this class. She organizes the class into 4 sections, each focusing on a differet country's revolution. We watched a lot of movies as well as had 4 books to read. When it comes to writing the few essays having read hlps a lot.
Dr. Davidson is a good teacher and the lectures are fun and interesting. Two analysis papers, a book review, midterm and final exams. However, she is a very tough grader, she will tell you what to put in the paper and you'll still do bad. Also, she consistently cancels class, at least once a week. And she isn't very good with responding to emails.
Was a pretty tough class. She grades essays really hard, and doesn't grade them for weeks so you don't know the grade you have. She doesn't put grades on blackboard either so you kind of have to guess what you have. quizzes are multiple choice/short answer and are pretty easy.
Davidson is a chill professor. The class is easy, quizzes and tests are super easy, and she cancels class a lot. Lectures are boring, but so is all history, she throws in movies and whatnot to keep it fresh. Nice lady, this is an easy gen ed.
Great class. If you don't know or like any history, you may not have the easiest time, but she is very helpful. Go to class and take notes, she puts her power points up on blackboard. She uses a lot of movies, and a few readings outside of class. Quizzes and tests are entirely multiple choice. Midterm and Final have take home essays.
I actually wasn't the biggest fan of her. She teaches pretty well in that she makes sense but she also skips around a good bit and has a weird obsession with dates. She grades writing assignments harder than necessary for a 102 class but overall wasn't too difficult. 3 quizzes, midterm, final, and a few writing assignments.
She loves class discussions, Every class period before a paper she'll have an in class discussion and then decide what the topic of the paper will be based on that. If you pay any attention during the discussions and just regurgitate what is discussed, you'll get an A. The reading was annoying, we had to read 4 novels. Easy B or A
Mrs. Davidson is a good teacher. She hardly uses the textbooks. The writing assignments, tests, and quizzes are all very easy. She understands that most kids are taking a gened history course because they have to, not because they want to. I would highly suggest taking her if you want to learn something and get a relatively easy A.
Excellent professor! She made class simple, yet effective. Easy to follow lectures, easy tests/quizzes. The only issue I had was how specific she was when it came to the writings. Definitely worth it though
Be prepared for LOTS of reading! She is very good at explaining the subject matter and loves documentaries. No textbook, but four novels and 3 papers, which compose your whole grade. If you aren't good at writing, don't take the class.
Davidson is not the best. While she really helps you get a good grade, her class is kind of ridiculous. While she will make your day once a week, at least, with a cancelled class, she doesn't really seem to know the material that well. Felt like a high school class. Reading is not completely necessary if you are a good writer.
There aren't any tests but you have to write some pretty intense papers. She is very thought provoking but this class if more for people who have an interest in feminist theory and liberal ideologies. I survived the class but not to my liking. Getting an A is incredibly hard
Very easy class, its based on women's history just as a warning. Will get at least a B without reading a single book
Davidson is effective, nice, and no doubt intelligent but also very boring. We spend a lot of (mandatory) classes watching useless documentaries. However if you take notes and pay attention to the written lessons the papers are definitely do-able and easy to get an A. Just write down whatever she says. Also, she takes 10 years to give grades back
Professor Davidson was a solid professor. She assigned 4 papers and that's basically it for your grade besides participation. The books she assigned were pretty bland, though. Overall, the class was mildly interesting and Davidson made it more bearable.
love her! super smart and interesting! so helpful in office hours, no tests, just papers. get ready to read! (4novels) would take again
Professor Davidson's lectures can sometimes be long and boring, but she is a decent professor. She is a good grader, but doesn't provide much feedback. There are 4 essays (about 3-5 pages each) and 1 group project. The 4 essays are based on 4 different books that are about Women in Revolution. She is willing to work with you to help you succeed.
Professor Davidson is super smart and extremely insightful. If you want someone who is passionate about the subject they teach, she's perfect. However, class can get a little boring and it is essay based. But if you write a terrible essay, it's probably a solid B. She's a really awesome person and easy to talk to.
Dr. Davidson was a great teacher. If you're really interested in how women have developed over a period of time in different cultures this is your class to be. Her lectures can be a bit boring but goes over the events that she assigns. Be ready to read a lot, over the semester you will read 4 different books and type up essay for each one
Professor Davidson was extremely disorganized. She drove me crazy. There's barely any grades, its basically four papers the entire semester and she is not an easy grader. She makes you read the textbook but never keeps up with it during class. It was a pretty mundane class and make sure to participate daily because she makes your grade alot of that
Dr. Davidson is very nice and clearly enthusiastic about what she is teaching, which is great. She would usually let the class out early on Fridays. However, her lectures can sometimes get a bit boring. Only graded on 3 papers, 1 group presentation, and attendance/participation. If you read and stay somewhat focused in class, you will do fine.
This class was pretty straightforward. Weekly readings, two analysis papers, a midterm paper, a final paper, a book review, presentation on the book review, and participation. Lots of reading, but usually isn't discussed too intensely in class. Can be a tough grader on papers, but overall is helpful and gives meaningful lectures.
I do not recommend taking Dr. Davidson for HIST150. Her class is "Women & Revolution", a topic that I was pumped about, but she has now ruined for me. Your entire grade is based on 2 papers, a group project, and then a final paper. She gives very few guidelines on any of the assignments and is very harsh in grading. Don't take her class.
she loves what she does just very boring. she does take attendance but you don't have to go in order to do well if you have a friend in the class. cancels class at least once a week. 3 papers, one group assignment. easy A, but wouldn't take again.
Dr. Davidson is very passionate about the class, but it can be boring. She makes the material clear. There are three books you have to read and write a paper on, which aren't too bad. There is also a group project at the end, which was easy. Overall its not a bad class, just boring with a lot of reading.
If you are interested in women's history this class allows room for some discussion and you will learn a lot. Class time serves to give background and ask questions or discuss in groups. To write the essays you have to have good understanding of book but don't have to read whole thing. The group project at the end isn't bad. I really enjoyed!
Davidson provides great class discussions on weekly topics and gives a fair amount of options to get a good grade. However, she grades papers unfairly and there is a group presentation for the class. If you do not enjoy speaking in class and participating, this is not the class for you.
Davidson is really nice. If you're a good writer, you'll do well (the only grades are 3 papers, a group project, and participation/attendance). Not an easy A, but you can do well if you show up to class (you only get 3 free skips) and try hard on the papers.
Class is based on group discussion where prior knowledge is assumed. Lucky if you get any help via emails because she usually didn't respond. Also, very few office hours. Class grade is 3 papers, 1 presentation, and participation. Very tough grader for the papers, but presentation isn't too bad. Overall, not an easy class and would not take again.
I had Davidson in WGS200, and she was great. The class was easy and barely graded on anything. We had 7 papers in total. 5 of those were only 1 page, just simple reactions to readings we had in class. The other 2 papers were the midterm and final, which were only 3-4 pages. I recommend taking her if you are interested in the subject even a little!
Get ready to read in this class. You won't be able to write the papers without reading them.
Dr. Davidson is a really great professor. Her class is based on women in the revolution, so if you like that sort of thing take this class! She is super passionate about the subject and she is very willing and able to help her students. Two big papers (midterm and final) and maybe four 60 point quizzes, so not that many things to be graded on.
My class was about women in revolution and I really enjoyed the class because she was very passionate about the subject matter. Attendance is mandatory so go to class. She doesn't have test so quizzes only. The midterm and final were take home papers that were not too bad. She gives a good amount of reading material that is usually on the quizzes.
Loved her class, but harsh grader. Gave very snarky comments and expects you to know history at the level she does, but we're undergrads so she has very unrealistic expectations for her students. I learned A LOT and I loved all of it, but it's a lot of reading every week. If you don't read, you're screwed since there's lots of class discussions.
Professor Davidson is a professor who really cares about the subject that she teaches. Participation really helps in that class and, while you don't have a textbook, you have to read a few books for that class (midterm and final essays on readings). By far one of the most dedicated professors I've ever had!
Prof. Davidson knows what she's talking about. Her class is lecture heavy but makes them interesting by using participation. Graded on two group presentations, three quizzes, and two papers (your midterm and final). Not an "easy" grade but with sufficient studying you can get an A and learn some really cool stuff about history along the way.
Davidson is very sweet and always gives her students the benefit of the doubt. Class grades consist of two presentations (GRADES SO EASY), two essays and 3 quizzes. I barely had to try in this class to get my grade and she is flexible with her grading scale for + and -'s. If you takes notes during lecture you can write your whole essays w ease.
I hate history, but I loved this class. We focused on Women in revolutions around the world and it was actually super interesting. She is such a nice woman and is super chill. Participation is graded and its really easy to get a 100/100 for it. You have a few easy quizzes, two easy group projects, and two papers (the only hard part). Take her!!
Take Davidson!! Really interesting lectures & she makes things easy and comprehensible. She grades kinda tough on the group projects but the papers are easy if you pay attention. You don't really have to read the books thoroughly, just know what to cite for the papers. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who likes history and/or women's issues!
She's a sweet and caring lady, but sometimes her expectations were unclear. Also, even though she's clearly passionate about the material, her lectures are often very content-heavy and a little unorganized. I wish we had gotten more guidance on our papers.
Amazing. I went on her Barcelona study abroad. There's a lot of reading and writing, but it's so worth it. She's friendly, hilarious, caring, passionate, and she really knows her stuff. Sometimes a tough grader on response papers, but pretty fair.
Dr. Davidson is a good professor but it was really hard for me to do well in this class. No matter how much I tried it felt like whatever I did was never good enough. She is nice and would reccommend going to her office hours. She is understanding and will work with you. I just found her as a tough grader. Wish she emphasized partic. matters a lot.
Very few grades and doesn't emphasize participation, but ends up being worth a lot. Lecture heavy and group projects, but gives good feedback. She is very sweet and makes class interesting but is hard to know what is asked of you to do well in this class.
If you hate group project this class in not for you. Your final is a group project and you're graded on only 4 assignments - 2 tests and 2 group projects. I am a history major and I found her tests difficult. Honestly she's a decent professor whose expectations are wayyyy too high for a gen-ed class.
She is a very caring and easy-going professor. For women's history, we only had about two papers, two exams, and then a final project. Class sessions were just for discussion and better highlighting books we read. Super easy A and she is good at replying to emails! EASY GEN ED!!!
she is so nice and is willing to help you with group projects and assignments there are three quizzes and two projects and each week there were readings but they werent bad at all i would def recommend this class with her its so interesting
She is a very kind and reasonable professor. I would strongly encourage that you do good on the few exams she gives you. There is some group work that also factors into your grade in addition to participation. There is a lot of reading for this course, but I honestly was able to be successful by going to class and taking notes rather than reading.
there are not a lot of grades so you need to do well on the quizzes and the final group project. she is really nice and cares about her students, so the class itself is totally reasonable.
good prof, lots of readings but i skimmed them and did fine. 2 group projects and 3 tests online
This class is decently easy, you don't have to go everyday but just make sure to do all your work because there's not much. There's three tests and two group projects.
This class is a fairly easy gened. I hate history and did okay. Lots of reading, 3 tests, 2 projects. The only thing I hated about this class was it was extremely political. She is very left-wing and is so dramatic about it, it's annoying.
awesome professor! her class was super interesting and she taught lectures in a fun way- we only had to read like 3 books, lots of reading to understand some class discussions but everything else she goes over in lectures. only had 3 quizzes and 2 projects that were easy if you just go to the lectures
TAKE DAVIDSON!!! She's a great and incredibly intelligent professor and the class is interesting. It is reading heavy but I missed a couple weeks of reading and just took notes in class and was fine bc she goes over them so well. theres a couple tests and papers and a group project but it never gets overwhelming and overall is easy. take her!
I loved her classes, she made history seem pretty interesting. She does seem to lean left politically but in my opinion she seems super educated. Attendance isn't mandatory but you might miss a lot if you don't go. She seems kinda intimidating but she's actually really sweet. Can grade a little tough, but it's good feedback, wouldn't say its hard.
Professor Davidson delivered this class in a great way. She allowed us to discuss issues, subjects, and topics relating to our readings and would allow those discussions to develop even if it's considered taboo. She wasn't afraid to talk about real life issues and their consequences, but didn't push any beliefs on you. Also barely any assignments.
She is a very sweet woman, but can be very hard to get in contact with. Her lectures were long, but they weren't terrible, the only thing I didn't enjoy about this class was that there were only 3 tests and 2 group projects and a final that we were graded on. It made the class really difficult to get a good grade in. But other than that, loved her.
Professor Davidson is a very kind and sweet woman. While I feel like I did learn a lot in class, the lectures could feel very long and boring. It is also hard to succeed in the class because she only uses tests and projects as grades. I would say to read as many of the documents she posts on canvas and work with others in the class to succeed.
She is nice but I personally don't like her teaching style. She is very lecture based and has little visuals on slides to go off of. I found it difficult to follow sometimes and to take effective notes. Her grading on projects is a little meticulous. Office hours were helpful and she is nice, but not my favorite class or teaching style.
Lots of reading as homework which is discussed in class, but if you dont read it it is quite easy to join in on the discussions anyways. Overall a pretty easy class!
Professor Davidson is AMAZING! There are 3 books you have to read, along with weekly readings, but they aren't hard at all. The final is a group project, which I personally didn't like but I do feel like I learned from it. Tests are MCQ and free response, but she grades harder on the free response portion, so DO THE READING! Overall great professor
Professor Davidson was very caring and consistently listened to our class's opinions and concerns. The class is very participation-heavy, but it definitely is not too difficult. She creates a very safe space for her students. None of the coursework was especially difficult, would definitely recommend.
She's pretty good as a professor. Classes are very lecture-heavy and there's a number of required books throughout the semester. She does post the slides from class, but most of the important info is things she says and writes on the board in class. She is a bit of a tough grader and there aren't many assignments so be careful.
Prof. Davidson's HIST150 class is pretty manageable. The readings can be a lot, but going to class and taking notes helps a lot. The grading is tough, but the feedback is useful. I found unstuck study super helpful for exam prep along with the textbook.
I really liked Dr. Davidson, but I found that there were a lot of readings that we didn't always get to. There's 2 short papers, 1 short paper presentation, and then a big 12-15 page research paper that counts as the final. There are no exams but she encourages discussion. She's very helpful and wants you to do well.
She assigned so much reading it was impossible to read all of it. Her tests were on a lot of information and it's hard to know what to study for. She provides some notes but you're expected to write down what she says during class- which is a lot of information and her lectures can be unclear. Too hard for a gen ed.
I didn't love this class because my classmates didn't participate - if they had read the readings and were willing to discuss them, this would have been a MUCH better class. The content was good, but we didn't go very in-depth and it felt somewhat disorganized. Good class, not a harsh grader, but it could have been a lot better.
Professor Davidson is a very nice and approachable person. She has a lot of leeway and works with students. You usually have to attend class to get the information for tests. She assigns readings but overall the class is pretty easy. She does not do many grades so it could be harder to change your grade.
prof davidsons 150 class is specifically about women and revolution which I found super cool.for the most part, there's weekly readings, but they aren't difficult. however, the group projects irritated me, but that's expected bc working w procrastinators is a nightmare. for the most part, shes very kind and just be sure to take good notes
i really liked this class. it was pretty easy and she is not a tough grader. the exams are mostly from the outlines she provides, just be sure to study them. she does assign readings weekly and a couple of books, but you really don't have to read them to do good and they're discussed in class a lot.
Great teacher and lectures were interesting. however, some group projects, which were okay, and not many opportunities to bring a grade back up if you bomb something :/. Kinda hard for a gen ed imo
Final is a group presentation, but not hard. Test questions are very straight forward if you pay attention/take notes during class discussions. Lots of reading but not difficult. Not many grades, only a few assignments. Participating in discussions counts toward grade. Easy gen-ed, go to class and pay attention, she's very nice/unintimidating.
Overall, she was alright. There aren't many extra assignments to boost your grade if you struggle on the exams, so definitely keep up with studying. You'll have two group projects (one is a presentation), and weekly readings. You can skip some readings, but make sure you actually understand the books, they're a big part of the exam.
The grade of this class is only based on a few assignments and majority of those are tests. However, the test questions are very straight forward and not confusing at all. There is also a lot of class discussions, so make sure to do the readings prior to the class.
Prof. Davidson was very nice and passionate about what she taught, however, her lectures were boring. There are 3 tests, one group assignment, and one group presentation. She doesn't take attendance or assign homework so you have to do good on the tests and projects.
