She is sooo awesome!
This class was fun. She is a great teacher.
She's alright. I just don't dig Psychology.
Memorize the book chapters to pass exams.Written exams must be super long;they're graded on HOW MUCH you write. When she lectures(very rare)none of it helps you on exams.Does offer good extra credit. She's OK,but is picky and easily pist off.
All the hope is on the extracredits. Even if you get C on your test, with the extra credits its an easy A. The test questions are tricky. Just a hint, study from the quizzes before taking the test.
if you dont mind reading the whole book you will ace the class. You also have to show up alot b/c she takes role. Do all extra-credit assignments, you will get an A. In all, take the class if you want to go into pyschology.
yup I totally agree...if u dont mind reading the whole book then you'll get an A. and true that most of her lectures are not helpful on exams.. for me I had to study all on my own with the book to earn an A in this class..other than that its an easy class
Talk about a teacher with a major menopause problem. This woman has no idea how to treat her students. Lets just say that for a psychologist, she has her own problems that need to be diagnosed. She couldn't stop bagging on us scholars students at ALL
horrible. a student went to her office to ask what he would miss that day since he had an emergency she refused to tell him and basically said everything in her class was important and if he missed it, too bad for him
prof. gilloly is one of the most wanderfull teachers that I have ever had. My brother took her class and recommended me to take it. After taking her class, I recommended my son to take it. I just want to thank her from three of us.
READ THIS: easyC+ Regularly late. Her lectures don't help on tests. To get an A you must read the whole book(1000pages) and teach yourself. Key to class is extra credit:(SI gives you test/quiz questions and answers) She's super nice outside of class.
this lady iS CRAZY!!! shes a horrible teacher. she should stick her PHDs up her A*S cant teacher for sh*t. her lectures dont even help. she lectures like everyone in the class is a psychologist and should know what shes talking about. one word: bipolar
Yes I agree! with the last comment, but it's fair to point out that she also gives lots of extra credits, lots of reading, lots of D's, and C's.
very hard, and does not like special needs students, try's to get them out as soon as possible by scareing them and telling them how hard it is and the same goes for freshmen.
I hated this b.... i dropped this by the 2nd week. she was awful. never had such a snooty negative teacher. NEVER take this class. Looking at her makes you want to throw up. her dog probably bites her.
so snotty and she made me drop the class just because i was younger.. what a b----
SHEZZZZZZ SUCH A ****HHH.... IF SHE DOESNT LIKE YOU THEN SHE WILL PICK ON YOU.. HER NOTES IN CLASS DONT HELP FOR****.. AD HER TESTS WHAT THE f*ck DER SO HARDDDDDDDDDDDD SHE ALWAYS HAS 4 DIFFERENT VERSINS AND HER QUIZ'Z COME OUT OF NO WHERE DONT RECOMEND TO ANYBODY..
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! please do not even consider taking this class with this teacher, even if its the only class available for your schedule. take it another session, dont live through 15 weeks of hell like i did. what a joke that class was, a waste of my life. Hard tests, and alot of work for nothin

Is intimidating on the 1st day of class, but really is nice and caring. Most people struggle because exams are tough. Questions are from examples in lecture.U need to apply concepts. Good notes (and reading) + doing extra credit = passing.Take her if u want to learn.4 an easy grade, take some1 else
This teacher is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She thinks that her class is the only class we have. She does not teach good at all. You don't understand anything she saying because she makes it hard. Her tests are really harddddd.
She's trying to improve now, but i do think her tests are too hard because she doesn't make them from out of her lectures, she just uses the tests that come with the book. i hope she lectures more in my classes,a nd i have told her
she's just an average teacher
Her tests are hard but if you attend the SI meetings you'll do just fine. Theres a lot of extra credit that you can do and it really helps your grade.
VERY HARD
i liked her class because it truly prepares you for when you transfer.she says the class curriculm is the same at ucla and stanford. if want a laid back class don't take her. if you are serious about school and want to be challenged go ahead. there is a lot or reading and hard tests
She seemed like a nice teacher and she really did try to teach the material and she also wanted all the students to understand the material. I can see how the class could be hard but she makes an effor to make it engaging.
Challenging class, but I learned so much, very interesting, you have to work hard to earn a good grade though!
she is a cute and an uplifting women who you can learn from. its not easy but if your willing to put in the time then take her. her test are mainly on the text so, my advice drink alot of coffee and do the assignments and you should pass with and A. Her lectures are not boring they are interestin
She is an awesome teacher and if you study hard and do your reading, you will do great! She gives extra credit material also. I really enjoyed her class and learned a lot as well. Take her class, you'll learn to have great time management and studying skills.
Very fair women. Do all the reading and you will do fine in her class. Very genuine women who cares for her students. I learned a lot about myself and family from Gillooly and her lectures. Take this class and you won't regret it.
Very nice teacher, very accomplished and knowledgeable. I read about half of the material for each test and got As on all but one test. the SI's help a lot (although the great SI leader is transferring now) and she offers way too much E.C. Nice thought provoking class.
She's a very interesting teacher...class discussions were great!
The worst teacher anyone can have in the whole wide world. DO NOT take her class. The subject is not hard but she makes it hard. She give houres of notes on NOTHING and when she gives you the test there is nothing on the test that she talked about. She takes points off just because your late to class. WORST TEACHER in the woeld. I took herclass 2ti
she is very nice and caring, but her teaching style is not the best. most of the time its the students teaching through the presentations, other than that, the tests are easy and she is very nice
I really enjoyed dr. Gilloly's class. I learned alot from her. I would definetly recomend taking her class
Dr. Gillooly was very helpful and very nice to the students. Students felt comfortable asking her questions and seeking help. Alos, the midterms in this class were very fair.

Super sweet lady. So passionate and wise. Brings food for her class. Gentle and kind, but a little scatterbrained because so much is on her plate!
She is very nice and incredibly educated. She knows what she's doing, and integrates current issues with her teachings.
i think if you are taking this class, be ready to study and pay attention to whatever she says. She sometimes can be mad very easily, but you'll learn to get over it. Most of all, just read the book, and you'll be fine.
Read the book (Hockenbury text is fun and instructive), get 7 A's on the midterms, and scoot with an A even before the final (the 7 A's exempt you). Dr. Gillooly has perfect mastery of the course, and she's very nice. Her quizzes are harder than the midterms, but each is 15/10 max. 5 are bonus points, that is.
she doesnt teach very well. her lectures arent that great, but she is a sweet lady. try looking for someone else. it all sounds easy, but its really not. her grading is weird. you need a 93% or higher to get an A in the class. and an 83% or higher for a B. who does that?
EASY TEACHER BUT ALWAYS LATE TO CLASS. IT BECOMES A LITTLE ANNOYING.
Dr. Gillooly is great but, psych 111, titled "Women Mind and Body" is not as interesting as it sounds. It is mostly about Health Psychology which is BORING. She required us to do 15 hours of community service, so if you don't have the time don't take the class. The text book titled "Health Psychology" is the worst text I've ever had to read
She gets mad easily she can't control her temper and starts yelling at the whole classroom, her teaching method is not helpfull at all,I just wanted to read the book and just show up to take test, because the lady is useless. If u are willing to read and learn everything from a book then take her, if not u will have a difficult time.
Terrible! She gave us a final worth 6 chapters and did NOT teach or even talk about a single page. Also, what teacher allows a group to do their presentation on the day of the final?
If you are a Psychology Major take her. You will definately learn. If you are NOT a Psych major do NOT take her. It's a class that requires ALOT of reading, reviewing and research. In order for you to pass you MUST know your subject. If you work and are atleast 3/4 of a student DO NOT take her, I am serious.
THIS CLASS WAS PRETTY INTERESTING, JUST STUDY THE BOOK AND YOULL DO FINE, HER LECTURES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TEST, JUST A WAIST OF TIME. SHE SOMETIMES IS ANNOYING AND HER TESTS ARE EVERY OTHER WEEK, TOO LITTLE TIME FOR STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE MATERIAL, IF YOU HAVE A LOAD OF OTHER CLASSES DONT TAKE HER, SHE REQURES ALOT.
She could be better, but bearable and nowhere near as bad as some professors.
First of all she never quite explains anything, she always leaves you with questions. Second anything she assigns she normally ends up countermanding her previous directions. She waited till the week before to assign us a 7 page research paper
All her tests are out of the book so you do need to read it (like any other classes). I had fun in this class even though it was just a six week class and we had a test every 3 days. It is bearable if you have the time. In my case school and work didn't mesh very well but I did it. My grade is in the border of an A but a high B. She's not bad.
she is fine. her class requires reading the book though if u read it well enough, ur good. I got 2 D's in her tests of 7 but ended with an A. No way you could mess if u put enough time. She tells u what she expects of u however her tests are kinda confusing coz it is different from what uv read. she is not bad, she is nice if u approach her.
she was straight out and helpful...
overload of work
She is not an easy teacher, but veryy helpful. Her class is not an easy A or B requires a lot of reading. Take advantage of every extra credit possible even if its 1pt. I really enjoyed this class made me work hard and use my brain. THANK YOU Dr. Gillooly
She is very very uptight. She speaks so quietly that you can't hear anything she says. She basically repeats the book and therefore gives you no motivation to go to class. She tends to be very bias when it comes to answers to questions, it's either her way or you're completely wrong even if it's IN THE BOOK. Unorganized and unorganized.
I love this teacher. She is hard...but she gives you many chances to raise your grade. I ended up getting 99% in the class because I took advantage of the extra credit oppertunities she gave us. I never once received an A on her tests and even had an F and the rest B's. SO yeah take her because you won't regret it. U'll have to read on ur own
As long as you read, attend every class, and attend SI (like I did), you will do just fine in Dr. Gillooly's class. It was the first time I actually read the entire textbook for a class...she covers every chapter. She's very nice and helpful when you ask her questions. I got two C's on my first two exams, but got an A in the class. You learn a lot!
she very helpful always putting extra time for her students
It might seem impossible at first to receive an A in her class(92%+). Exams are very similar to the online test, throwing out bad questions and dropping the lowest test. She also has reactions papers which are very easy if written decent and shows some effort. She is very motherly (helpful) and gives plenty of extra credit. Highly recommended!!!!
Gillooly is really nice and helpful but she expects alot from her students. You definitley need to spend alot of time reading the chapters, taking, notes, and listening to the lectures but in the end its worth it if your a psych major because you will DEFINITLEY learn alot from her.
one of the worst teachers ever
Dr. Gillooly is one of the best professors ever, she is extremely helpful. I highly recommend that you go to her office hours because she gives you extra points for that! I did not do very well on the first test. I got a D, but after that I went and spoke to her and my test grades went higher Do all the extra credits/SI's CSUN intern and get an A
shes a great professor hands down.she may lose track of things but she works really hard.Very compassionate and empathetic w/ studnts.nd you will learn a lot.
Very easy teacher. She teaches straight from the textbook. Heavy reading and plenty of xtra credit. If the entire class is doing poorly, she will find a way to bring the class grade up. Very funny
really nice teacher but her tests are hard, must read the book but if you study its an easy A
Good psychologist and helpful person, but not the best teacher. Gives many extra points, the only concern is doesn't explain much. if you can figure it by yourself, go ahead, read and you will be fine!
She's OK. Sometimes, she goes really fast on discussions cause she wants it to be included in the upcoming exam. She randomly checks attendance and gives you a pop quiz when students are noisy. Just READ the book and answer the practice book before each exam and you'll get an A++ like i did. She gives a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it.
Also took her for psych 113. Very helpful, goes over all tests are taking them to adjust scores, SI's help A LOT, reading the textbook is a must, very much into stats on her tests, VERY kind and caring, loves the subject, you will enjoy her class!
I have now had Gillooly 4 PSYCH 101 106 & 115 & she's a great teacher to have-just stay on her good side! She cares immensly about her students(if you help yourself)& will put her neck out there to help you in almost anyway she can.Her classes aren't 4 the lazy, but you learn a TON.I wasn't so fond of her PSYCH 101, though-overcrowded
If you don't like reading, don't take her class. I'd basically cram right before each test and get an A. Oh, but she gives pop quizzes practically everyday in the beginning of the semester. Then, she eases up. If you get A's on all your tests, then you don't need to take the final =)
she is a good teacher and will go out her way to help if you are persusing her career
She speaks very fast and assumes everybody has read the material and gives a lot of pop quizez. her test are not hard and her grading is pretty easy. Gives extra credit points so you can pass.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! she has issues. she lectures soooooo fast no one even has time to keep up with her. She expects you to know what to do and read the WHOLE chapter by yourself and memorize the material. She gives "cell phone quizzes" like we are in middle school. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!
You do have to read the book but as the previous said, we're not in middle school are we? She is a good teacher, sometimes her lectures aren't that useful but she tries to help and she gives you lots of real life ex =)! I've learned a lot, the book is great! She is fair and if you read the material it's an easy A!
i hated everything about this class. she doesn't teach. she expects you to teach yourself and ace the test. she's useless. she doesn't wanna help her students and she's ALWAYS late and tends to keep you in class longer (which gets really annoying after awhile).
Great professor!! Its a really easy class. Just read the book, she's not going to read it for you but she will help you anytime you need it. She is sometimes late for class though. Went to the Dr. Phil show and went to bodies exhibit with class. Take her class
She's a very disorganized lady. Her lectures help very little. She does give hints as to what's on the tests. You have to read the book according to her Chapter handouts and you will get an "A" in her class. She takes attendance almost everyday and she gives credit for class participation.
I'm glad not to have listened to one student who dropped her class. I took two classes w/ Gillooly, Psych 101 & 106. She is a very nice lady. Her lectures are not very helpful. Read the book; it is easy to understand. Her exams are mostly situations that apply the concepts, and not definitions, which is very good; you'll feel like a psychologist.
I was one of 2 students exempt fr Psy101 final bec of 7 A's on 7 midterms. I topped Psych106, grade over 97%. And I crammed for every single exam. That said, the key to Dr.Gillooly's class is to read AND understand the book. It is VERY good (I go to UCLA now and have had many books to compare). I only attend lecture bec she takes roll & she's nice.
I am taking her summer class and I actually find it very enjoyable. She offers extra credit options and expects you to be in class because she does take roll. If you read the book and study you will get an A. It is not a super easy class, but it is fun. She does tend to be late occasionally but she is a Therapist full time so cut her some slack!!
NO! she absolutely does not know how to teach. She is sweet but when she puts the notes which never help in her class because she changes back and forth A LOT so you get lost trust me.!! Very Very disorganized. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK OR ELSE YOU GET AN F. She is hard.we had like 3 field trips. Reaction papers EASY. OHTER THAN THAT SHE IS NOT GOOD!!
Great concept drilldowns, and, for a "market" of [blah].
She is very knowledgeable about psychology. Her tests are scantron with no essays. The questions can be confusing sometimes. The papers are easy to write. The study guide is very helpful.
Shes a very sweet lady and obviously has lots of experience in the field. She also has her own practice and is a respected professor in college. i had her Abnormal Psych class which was really hard. The material is a lot, and her tests cover EVERYTHING. you absolutely need to read the book for the tests. Her lectures are NOT HELPFUL at all. READ RE
She is very unorganized teacher. If you care about you GPA don't take her class. Her lectures are NOT HELPFUL and she is going very fast. Also you will never know what will be your grade. My friend and I had same points she gave her an A- and me B?Read the book and you will pass the class, but don't expect to get a grade you deserve it.
Vary vary unorganized and unhelpful teacher. She talk's a lot but THERE IS NOTHING about class. You need to read book many times in order to know what was her talk about. In short,DON'T take her or you will feel sorry about you GPA.
You must read the book. The chapters are interesting but really long. Read the book before going to the corresponding lecture. The lectures are only there as a quick and vague review. If you read, the tests will be pretty easy. Gives extra credit opportunities. She is a bit unorganized and is sometimes in a bad mood. Don't make it your first choice
Very nice teacher. She's a bit unorganized, which is understandable since she has her own practice and also teaches many classes. Her lectures are not very helpful, you have to read & understand the book. Try taking online quiz (from the book's website) her test questions comes from them. She also give extra credit.
LOVE HER!!! Great teacher...You really have to work for an A. Tests are straight forward, she doesn't try to confuse you. You are exempt from the final if u get A's on all exams. I had a 99.7% in the class and still had to take it cuz i got an 87% on one. You will learn a lot. btw...she's the department chair.
DON'T TAKE HER. SHE DOSN'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH.VERY DISORGANIZED LADY.DON'T TAKE HER CLASS, OR YOU WILL FEEL SORRY.
If you decide to take this class you have to read 80 pages for each of the 5 test. Though this may sound hard if you can at least read the 80 pages once you will get at least a B. The lectures were a waste of time. This class is for people who actually care about learning psychology because I learned alot.
This class wasn't difficult. Read each chapter & you'll do fine. She's very knowledgeable & she will elaborate on points you are unclear about. Don't expect to copy everything on the powerpoints; there's too much info & not enough time to write out each slide. Extra credit is available, exams are returned asap, & exam question can be discussed.
It was a great class. I got a A just from carefully reading the book and reviewing before the test. It was a fun class where the book reading determined the grades and not the lecture. It is a straightforward class.
All you have to do is read the book to get an "A" in the class- and occasionally pay attention to her powerpoint presentations because she basically points out exactly what's going to be on the exam. greatest thing ever = if you get A's on all of her tests, you don't have to take the final! great GPA boost.
I took this class and it seemed really direct and straightforward. I read a few bad comments about her and thought that they were the people who didn't study at all. If you at least read the textbook you will get a passing grade.
She wasn't too difficult. I got a B i did read the book and study, i just didn't really like her. She was unorganized and came off like a sweet woman but made snide remarks often. Must read the book to do well, she tells you what is on the tests but occasionally it will be misleading. Seems like a good psychologist just not a great teacher.
great teacher. very clear. the power points weren't very useful she gives out outlines. as long as you study the book closely you'll do fine. i got an A but it was not easy.
The class was easy in my opinion. One thing I must stress is GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS. You get 1 extra point for every time you attend and it helps a lot on the test. The lectures were useless and you will pass the class as long as you read the chapters in the book.
Do the extra credit options she gives, and always look over your tests for mistakes. Not the worst professor, but very careless, always late ( gets tiring after a while), and just useless to go to class (she gives points for attendance for that reason). She once lecctured the entire chapter in 5 minutes.
i really enjoyed having this professor. Shes nice but can get fiesty if you get her mad. Her class is quite complex and somewhat difficult, but aslong as you read the text book and get the main facts from her lectures you'll be ok.
A great Lady and professor!
Her lectures don't match her test.so you have to read from the book. test are mutiple choice, pay attention to the reading because questions are Tricky. She gives alot of extra credit and is very helpful. Her office hours are always open and grades are based on points.I got D's on 5 outta 6 test and still passed the class. Take advantage of the extra Credit!
To be honest, she actually resembles your average high school class. You read a book, then you get tested on it, which is strictly verbatim to the text, no more no less difficult. She gets irritated when people talk, so she treats people like highschoolers and tells people to move seats if they talk. Overall, it's not that hard of a class.
The moment I walked into her class the first day, I was like, "I'm getting outta here." However, I stuck around (even though I ditched at least an hour of class every day) & guess what..I still got an A !! Her lectures are EXACTLY the same as the book. I never listened to them & just read the book. Do the extra credit & it's an Easy A:)
She's so nice. Sit on the front road, do your reading, keep up with SI and go review your test. You'll do just fine (: She's a sweetheart!
i dont know how this teacher has such a high rating but she is absolutely terrible. she wastes countless class time scolding people and on pointless things like 20 minute long roll calls, and seating charts. the only reason she takes roll is cuz her lectures are useless and she knows it. all tests, no learning. needs to work on teaching skills imo
if i never showed up a single day my grade would still be exactly the same. she takes 20 minute long attendance because she knows noone would show up otherwise. this teacher is completely worthless. teaches straight out of the book, lectures are the generic readings out of the book instead of interesting facts to help us actually learn.
this teacher is completely worthless. she takes 20 minute long attendance because she knows noone would show up for her useless lectures. she wastes tons of class time on treating us like highschoolers using assigned seating and roll instead of teaching. she gives midterm sized tests almost every week without any real covering of material
This class was not easy but its also not that hard. She can be intimidating but she is also aproachable and nice. If you ask for help she will help you. There are alot of opportunities for extra credit and that helped me get an A. To get an A you do have to read the text book and study really good for the test.
she is AMAZING. she is very easy ONLY if you pay attention and read the book! you can't expect to do well in ANY college course if you do not study for the test and actually understand the material. if you cannot handle this class, you will not be able to handle a 4-year university. she also gives A LOTTTTT of extra credit opportunities.
honestly she is a very nice teacher and easily approachable. She is always late because she is in charge of a lot of activities on campus, in other words, has to much on her plate. Her tests are not always clear and multiple answers make since but only one of them is right in her eyes. Her lectures are short and not clear.
shes such a sweetheart i dont know why people complain about her. i mean come on it is PSYCHOLOGY. you obviously have to read and pay attention. and she gives up to 35-40 extra points which is amazing and this is the only psych class with SI. and an A forsure if you read everything in the book. so far im getting 97% cus of the extra points
She is so helpful and made it very easy to get a good grade in her class. Do the reading and pay attention in class and that with all of the extra credit she offers keeps it really easy. The content can be difficult but she makes a point to be very clear and is very welcoming to questions and interest. She also wears the cutest outfits every day.
EASY A. She wants you to understand the material so she gives a lot of bookwork. Psychology's really interesting anyway, and she gives A LOT of extra credit. People complain about her but she's the sweetest things. And if you get an A on all the tests (very doable if you study), you don't have to take the final. Love this professor.
Dr. G is one of DEE best professors @ GCC. She will go above & beyond to help her students. She truly cares about her students & wants everyone to do well. With that said, show up to class, pay attention, take good notes & MUST read the book if you want a good grade!!! Nothing comes easy in college & this class is no exception.
She is one of a kind, very positive attitude but can't stand ignorance and childless in her class. She offers multiple chance to do extra credit and SIs totally helps. Read the book, it will be your best friend this semester.
She's a sweet understandable, caring and very fair teacher!
Dr. G is insightful and helpful. The course topic is very exciting, but the text was a slog. That said, Dr. G has professional experience on the topic and goes the extra mile to help her students succeed. Highly recommended!
i got an a in the class, but i would never take a class with her ever again. SHe wants everything her way, doesnt make her self clear on what she wants. I recommend you sleep with the syllabus that she gives you and memorize every line because she goes by that. Tests are difficult and tricky. Do the extra credit it will make a difference.
If your willing to read every chapter in the book, youll do prefectly good! test can be tricky at times but if you study it wont be that hard. She is a nice teacher, willing to help but this class is VERY TIME CONSUMING!!!
Read the book and you get an A. Book is an easy/interesting read. I studied day before each of the tests and got an A. She is passionate and gives real life examples. Gives a ton of extra credit. Gives hints to what she will test on. I recommend this class for men AND women. One of the few teachers that changed the way I perceive life and learning.
She goes above and beyond what is required of her to ensure her students do well. Reminds you of upcoming assignments. Gives plenty of extra credit. Makes herself available for questions. Loves what she teaches and her enthusiasm is contagious. Interesting lectures. And she is classy. What more could you ask for?
Gillooly is a perfect example of what is wrong with education today. She is training robots, not informing imparting knowledge to individuals. She CANNOT read and certainly CANNOT teach. If you take her class, bring some popcorn because al she does is play antiquated videos while she grades papers tests at the back of class. AWFUL TEACHER & PERSON
Professor Gillooly is a nice lady that knows a handful about psychology. I do agree that she may not be the best at teaching it, but she does offer many chances of extra credit to raise a grade. There is no excuse not to get an A unless you are a lazy type of person that does not read. You have to read the book in this class.
The class is very clear cut, your textbook is basically your bible. Lectures are useless, but you gets points for attendance. Use all extracredit opportunities. Just alot of reading and studying, but it's not impossible. As long as you study you'll be fine, it's mostly memorization. Got an A, glad I didn't drop. Amazing fashion sense, btw.
Dr. G is an AMAZING professor AND person. Her lectures are always interesting and she has a great sense of humor. She's the sweetest person on earth but she knows when and how to be stern. She wants you to succeed and will help you do so. One of the best profs ever, hands down. Memorize the book & be prepared for pop quizzes (easy points!).
Dr. Gillooly is an amazing teacher. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED by these lazy people who put her as a horrible teacher. Just go to the SIs and do extra credit whenever there is one. You have to read but learn the vocab first because that's mostly in her exams. She realy wants you to get that A. and if you want it, you'll get it.
Dr. G kind of has moods, which is annoying. Shes not a terrible teacher, and I did get an A, but I have to say I'd never take her class again, and the reason I did well is because of the SI's. Her class is such a waste, you spend the entire time taking notes but not learning anything cause she goes way too fast.
do yourself a favor..don't take her! Im a straight A student and I had SO much work to do in this class and i studied everyday and got a C...theres way better psych teachers dont waste your time
Prof G. is a very nice lady. Her tests are straight forward from the book, although on every test she has around 10 tricky questions and some details that one would never pay attention when reading the book. She has a very good sense of fashion. She is very knowledgable. However she can be irritated easily. I worked my ass off for an A.
The class consists of her reading the textbook aloud and showing slides. She does give a lot of extra credit. Read the textbook and go to SI's if you want to pass. I didn't learn anything from her. I had to teach myself. Don't bother taking notes. They will not help you. Tests are applications of what you read in the book.
Gillooly is a pretty good professor. If you attend SI's and take notes, you will get an A. If you listen to the SI leaders, they will tell you what you need to know. I received an A, yet I didn't find this class particularly difficult. She gives plenty of extra credit & if you receive A's on all exams, you don't not have to take the final.
Dr. G is an amazing prof! She realizes the class is going to be tough, so she gives you opportunities to attend "S.I." If I did not goto SI's I would have maybe got a C. ended up with an A.I've had one other psyche 101 prof before, who was much moredifficult. psych 101 is going to be hard- so much info, take Dr. G, go to SI, read the book, go online
Such a nice and intelligent lady. I really don't understand why people are complaining. Her class is honestly not that hard. Read the book, study her notes, and you'll do fine. She offers a BUNCH of extra credit ... if you actually do your work and STUDY (gasp! people in college actually do that?) you'll pass with a good grade :)
Psychology is a difficult subject, so don't expect an easy A. You will have to study and READ THE BOOK. Seriously. Dr. Gillooly is a wonderful professor and very kind and helpful, but if you want an A, make sure you read the book. 6 tests I believe, a term paper, and a cumulative final if you don't get all A's on your tests.
Take Gillooly! I do not understand the complaints at all. She offers sooo much extra credit it is almost impossible not to get an A or B. If you read the textbook (it is college), attend SI which is to your benefit anyways, turn your cellphone off in class and come to class - you are set. U study psych terms & get tested on them - NO surprises.
She is extremely moody, disorganized, and refuses to let students return to the room if they leave for the restroom or any other reason. She was late 90% of days and it was almost impossible to get help from her. If you need this class, go to the SIs and you will be fine; if you don't, don't take it please.
She is all over the place! she's extremely busy but the class overall consist of reading your textbook and tests. Do the extra credits she offers because that will help you. You may have to teach yourself because she barley goes over the material clearly in class
Cutest woman alive! So sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable. She's the head of the psychology department and rightly so. Highly educated and experienced. Im taking her class right now and all I do is read the chapters once and I get 95% on her tests. Very straight forward and easy. Love her and this class!
Dr. Gillooly is such a nice lady! I took Psych 101 and it made me fall in love with the subject. The class was super easy just as long you read the book, listen to her lectures you'll be fine. Take advantage of SI! She offers A LOT of extra credit as well so it's impossible not to get an A. Definitely recommend her !
Her level of experience in psychology really shines through her lectures; however, this isn't one of those classes that you can breeze through. This class is not easy, it requires a lot of time studying because it is a lot of information. Also be aware if you miss class it's like missing a HUGE amount of info. Also she doesn't let you leave class.
Prof.G is one of my favorite professors. Her lecture is not that bad, come to class because she gives surprise quizzes. Study for the exams. A lot of extra credits too, so there's no way you'll fail this class! +3pts for coming to her office hrs. to review your exam results. This is not an easy A class. But c'mon people, this is college!
Best teacher ever! She was literally the sweetest and really knew her stuff! Honestly I learned more in SI then I did with her. MAKE SURE YOU GO! I didn't study as much as she said to and I still got a B. Do all the learning curves and you'll be fine! I'm going to take her again for Psych 106! You go Mrs. G!
Gillooly is an uninspiring, micromanager that treats college students like high schoolers. She is not difficult, but there are much more engaging professors to take psych with at GCC.
Nice teacher, easy A attendance not required
She is not organized, first of all. Even though she has two chapters (usually 70-75 pages) to cover in two lectures, she spends MUCH time discussing about an issue. Then just goes crazy fast on the last lecture and expects us to know every little details. She never explains assignments in full details. Her tests are tricky except the first one.
This professor might come off as a little intimidating at first but trust me you will pass. As long as you do all your learning curves, go to SI and read the book you'll be sure to get a good grade. She does rush some chapters so always be on top of things. Best of luck to you.. (:
She's a great professor. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, but you really have to put a lot of time in studying. Go to her office hours.
She's a little bit of a control freak, but overall, she means well. Don't text in her class, or talk, because you'll end up on her bad side. Pay attention, skim the book, go to SIs and her office hours and I guarantee you, you will have an A.
She is considered to be one of the most caring professors at GCC. I reaally enjoyed her Class. TAke her u will not regret it. I promise.
She's the best! Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Also, you have to get to her good side or else it's gona be hell
Honestly, Im surprised people are saying shes hard. She's actually really easy. All you have to do is read the textbook and memorize and understand material. Her tests are based off the book. Her SI HELPS! 1 point for every SI you attend and 3 points for reviewing your test. Got over 30 extra credit points. EASY A!
Her tests are easy. Just read the book and you will do great. There are 6 tests and the final. She drops the lowest score. She just comes to class late sometimes and is a bit disorganized. Her lectures are exactly what's in the book so you'll find it a bit boring. Overall though the class is easy and she is kind. Easy A.
Attend her SI for sure!!! helps a lot plus you get exta credit. Do well on her tests so you dont have to take the final (even though that is very rare). All tests are multiple choice & times. Read the book and do the learning curves & you'll be fine :)
I really enjoyed this class, she's a funky professor, but it was a super easy class for me. Even though it was all about women it was super interesting. I had facts to share every time. She drops your lowest test score but that doesn't include the final. Take her!
Whether or not you enjoy psychology, you MUST read the assigned chapters. Attend SI for sure & you'll be good! She gives a lot of extra cred. This is college guys, study & you'll get what you deserve!
Loved this teacher, such a cute admirable woman. Her tests are based off the book and psych portal. READ the book, its college. GO TO SI, its relevant. Her assignments are easy, if you do them its basically free points. 5 tests, if you get A's on all = no final. You might get annoyed with her scatteredness but she has cute jokes to make up for it.
Dr G is the kindest soul youll ever meet. This is the second time Ive taken her and yes- she can be tricky to get used to if youre a first timer, but since Id had her before, I knew the way she handled things and knew how to work with it. She is my favorite teacher on campus. Easy to listen to. Hilarious, actually. Id take her again in a heartbeat.
In my experience, Dr. G was a no-nonsense professor who expected her students to study independently. There were days in which she rushed through chapters, sometimes only giving a list of what to study. She didn't tolerate disruptions. Because I behaved, and showed her I was trying to do well, she was friendly and made every effort to help me pass.
Although this class wasn't that hard, you still need to work for your grade. She takes roll so you have to be present, she gives pop quizes from time to time, her lectures are pretty clear, but if she runs out of time she rushes a lot which is most of the time, she does let you drop one exam, I wouldn't take her again ... MUST READ BOOK TO PASS
Dr. G is the most dedicated professor I've had, truly inspirational. She takes her job very seriously, she's very strict. But she will go above and beyond to help you pass. I don't know of any professor who gives that much Extra Credit. SI's help tremendously. Get A's on all 6 tests, and you get to skip the Finals! Even provides podcasts. Love her!
Very strict and intimidating, but be nice to her, and she'll love you. Pushes you to do well, and will do everything to help you pass. Study hard, read the book, go to SI, take advantage of the extra credits, pay attention in class. Demands a lot of your time, but it was worth it for me as I was able to skip the Finals (A's on all 6 testNo Finals)
Professor is hard to hear. Plus, she mumbles a lot. She is constantly going on a tangent. Her lectures are hard to follow. In other words, if there is 5 minutes left of class, she will cram the last 15 PowerPoint slides, which are packed with information and that are on the tests, in that amount of time without a clear or brief explanation.
Doctor Gillooly is the best! She is very down to earth and friendly. She demands a lot of respect whereas you can't use your phone during class or leave the classroom and come back, but she only means it as a benefit to her students. You HAVE to listen to her lectures and read the book. She does lose track of time a lot but shes amazing regardless!
You can't use the bathroom in her class. Will treat you like a child.
If you want to pass the test, you need to read the book. You can absolutely not rely on her power points alone. I really liked the class, because she offers a lot of extra credit. Also, if you get an A on all the exams you don't have to take the final.
Terrible
Let's just say if it wasn't for the extra credits and random take home test because our reading and lecture was falling onto spring break most students wouldn't have passed. You can't rely on the lectures, you are all on your own in this class. She is pretty strict too when it comes to test taking. Honestly its better to take someone else.
Her multiple choice tests were really hard and tricky. She might make the final take home. She makes you volunteer and write 4 journals on it and assigns reflection papers that you have to submit online. She also assigns SIs and Ecs so go to them!
its better to take someone else. Her lecture is not helpfull at all.
She is amazing! Take her and get as much out of the class as you possibly can. It will change you.
I got an A without having to ever read a book its common sense you morons. Also the volunteering was fun because i coached youth basketball. take it, pay attention get that A. BTW I'm male and it was a female psychology class still got an A without a book.
Doesn't always cover necessary material. Can stay too long on one topic, then skip the next 5 and expect you to know it. I was disappointed. She is a great teacher, but forces you to work on your own.
Dr. GIllooly is very passionate about her job. She assigns homework that are based on your life, so they're very easy to do. She does this to get to know her students well. Make sure you read and the class will be easy. Group project was easy and fun. She appreciates every effort put it and gives a good grade on that. She also gives extra credits!
Pretty good class, but you gotta do work to get an A. Print out her outlines and study what is on those on your own and you'll do fine on the test. Tests are all multiple choice, EASY extra credit (like just showng up to SI), pretty straightforward. Likes to linger on one topic during lecture though. Be responsible for yourself. Study!
Excellent teacher, took her for psych 101 and really enjoyed it. Her lectures are interesting and often include videos and other examples of the concepts being discussed. My favorite thing about her is that she wants her students to pass with a good grade. She does everything within her power to help her students, including tons of extra credit.
She makes me feel like I'm back in high school. You cannot walk out to use the restroom or make a call, she simply says don't come back. Thinks her class is the most important one and nothing else matters. Wouldn't take her again
Her class is enjoyable, she does give really difficult quizzes and exams but she covers everything you need to know to pass them. Makes wonderful real-life scenarios and examples. All you got to do is attend class and pay full attention because there is a lot she covers. She has her class podcast on moodle which helps tremendously.
Really helpful and just over all amazing. Her lectures are clear and she lets us know what will be on the exams. I recommend her the only thing is that you do have to do a lot of reading...
Each test (6 total) consists of 2 chapters, each chapter is about 40 pages. You MUST read if you want to pass. She gives tons of extra credit. If you are a Psych major, you NEED the information she covers and, if you really learn it, it will make your other PSY classes so much easier. She's a wonderful person and a great teacher. Very caring.
6 test 2 chapters for each except test 6 and the final they consist of 3 chapters / the final is take home but only if your class does good on their presentations/ overall great professor but she is extremely disorganized and there is also a total of 6 reaction papers (essays 2 pages each)
Worst class ever Vert disorganized And rushes through lectures
Dr. Gillooly is one of my favorite professors of all time. She is very caring for her students and if I have the chance, I would most likely take her again. She is very sweet and gives many chances for extra credit and grade boosts. Just be polite and do your work and you'll do well in her class.
She's a good professor. She's very clear and thorough in what she expects from you. The only thing that I never liked from her is that she treats the class like its a high school. No phones allowed, laptops are allowed at times, she's strict with attendance and you can't use the restroom in the middle of class. Her lectures are long and exhausting.
If you are a psych major, you should consider having all possible psych classes with her. She is a woman with tons of knowledge and experianse in psychology. It's true that the class is hard, but she is not the kind that makes everything hard on the student. SHE HELPS. She offers extra credit. If you get straight A's, you don't take the final :)
She gave great lectures and gave funny examples for us to remember, but for her tests I had to study a lot. I never even did any of her extra credits or SIs (20 pts if you attend) but I ended up with an A. Go to her office hours to check your test because you will earn 3 pts for the next exam. I also used the book for the tests to study. THE BEST!!
All I can say is I wish more teachers were like her. She's the reason I changed my major to psychology. If you're actually willing to put some effort into a class then you're going to get an A with her. She gives more than twenty extra credit points throughout the semester, drops one test, etc. Take her now, thank me later.
she is really unorganized and does stuff last minute. Her tests do not match up with test prep and the short answer are like 12-20 points so if you do not answer them you fail
Took her for 101 and 106. She may be the head of the psych department, but she is not difficult at all. Pay attention to her lectures, read the book, study the notes, and you will do excellent on the tests. So caring and wants her students to succeed. TAKE HER! Amazing person. She will throw out questions on the test if students were confused on it
If you want an A you really have to study. Read the textbook! You have to spend a lot of time reading and studying if you're aiming to get As on the tests. Going to SIs significantly boosts your grade as well.
She's really nice, and really reasonable if you're late turning things in. IF YOU WANT AN A YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. It's a pretty easy read, and she gets literally ALL OF HER TEST QUESTIONS from the book. Read the book. Read. The. Book. READ. THE. BOOK.
You wont find a more amazing professor at this school. Dr G is simply awesome. A wealth of knowledge, easy to understand and talk to.
I found her to be a very good professor. Though she skipped over some topics, the topics she did cover, she covered well. I would highly, highly recommend going to as many SI meetings as possible. Not only does it give you extra credit, the people teaching give you some hints. During lectures she lets you know what topics to study
I really liked having her as my psych 101 professor. He lectures are clear & she makes it easy to understand. Also she offers a lot of extra credit (attending Si meetings, going to her office hours after tests, etc) strongly recommend her!!!!
Great lectures, actually entertaining, and gives hints on what you should study on for the tests. She's very sweet and had amazing little techniques that had students paying attention. Also, the reaction papers she assigned were fairly easy since they were partly based on personal experience/opinion which also helped on learning the topic even more
