Very informative class. Participate and it's fine, easy tests.
Zz....
I got an A on my exams and A's on my papers but ended up with a C. When I asked why, she said I missed 7 classes, but I really only missed 3. I hate her
I have had Prof. Greenebaum for 2 classes in the past and have come back to this class because she is a fun teacher. I enjoy going to her classes and doing my work for her classes. There is a lot of reading, so she is not for the unfocused or slackers.
I hated going to her class 3 times a week for her to walk out of most of them when students were shy. If you are not her class pet then you will not do well in this class. Don't take her!
She is pretty easy. She has issues and will walk out in the middle of class. She is a feminist and loves her dog, so you will hear a lot about him.
She is ok, she has a little attitude and wears black all the time. For what reason? I don't know! She hates it when no one participates and my class it definately QUIET. The test are confusing and she gives a lot of notes but it's not that bad.
A good professor, not difficult if you do the reading and prepare properly. Make absolutely sure, however, that you do the reading. She hates non-participation and non-preparedness (not that I think this is wrong).
That class was SO interesting. She's energetic, and if you do the reading and participate, she'll make the class so much fun. Kinda tough gradewise, but if you do the work its allright. You get to argue in class. It's fun. And yes, you hear about her dog.
She's entertaining and talks on our level (teenage-ish) but you get the grade she thinks you deserve, regardless of actual merit.
She is a total feminist and very liberal. Don't take this class if you are a guy. Make sure you come to class prepared and partcipate or she'll go crazy. A lot of notes and test were confusing.
She's Awesome! Very indepth with everything. Very nice, she is a feminist but she is open and wants to know what the guys in the class think.
The best teacher I've ever had here at CCSU. Lectures are funny and interesting. She's very passionate about what she's teaching. Allowed to bring in a cheat sheet for each exam. There an easy A, as long as you take the time to read and listen.
Dr. Greenebaums classes are entertaining and educational. Theres a bit of reading, but the material is usually good, and she doesnt require a lot of homework. She's totally willing to work with you if you have trouble with something and you actually attend class.
Very libral and very intresting. Shows a passion and deep caring for people who are poor and suffering.
She is a huge feminist, and doesn't like to be proven wrong. The tests are easy because she does let you bring in a cheat sheet. She does have a slight temper, she kicked out the class one day because she didn't think that enough people were talking. I wouldn't take her again.
Her classroom environment is very intellectually stimulating, and she is such a happy, chipper person. Very knowledgable with the material, and makes practical connections to the "real world". Makes you work for a good grade, but is fair.
She was awesome!

She is an awesome teacher.
Willing to give extra help, open to everyone's opinion equally. Creates great discussion and adds personal anecdotes. Highly recommended!
This is the quirkiest, coolest professor in the dept! She is extremely intelligent, yet she admits her own doubts and insecurities to the class. She is very passionate about the subject matter.
easy, if you go to class
Excellent professor. Very open minded, very accepting. I would take her again for ANY course. She caters well to students with special needs. The reading is easy and class discussion intriguing. 1 page cheat sheet tests, but if you read well you don't even need them for the exams.
She is not open minded, she's biased. Tests are based on readings, and if you show up to class and didn't read she flips out. Today, she made us leave and didn't teach bc we didn't read. You wont learn anything new by taking her class. It's easy but not worth taking. SHe also had a participation grade, but does not take attendence/know names
shes a hardcore femenist and is very disrespectful to art and theatre kids like myself, treated me like i was dumb. Not helpful AT ALL outside the classroom.
Tends to be biased and very by the book -not so open-minded and follows answers provided by readings. The readings get tedious and skimming doesn't cut it. Throws a fit when not read. 90% of class doesn't attend or read which says something about her qualities. Not necessarily our fault for not reading. Doesn't know our names
She thinks and says she is a feminist but she's not. She makes insulting comments about women all of the time, not just men.
The single best prof at CCSU, if you are lazy maybe not the best class for you, but class is a blast and you will have a new perspecctive at the end of the day, I hereby nominate Dr. Greenebaum for teacher of the year.
Very nice but don't be lazy, read what she requires you and you will be fine. She also lets you have a cheat sheet.
fantastic class
amazing professor. intriguing, easy to get along with, understanding. the best ccsu has to offer.
Her class is great. It's all about gender roles men and women play throughout life. We talk about race, class, sexuality, families. etc. And how all those things shape our perceptions of our idenities as men and women.
Does not know how to engage students in learning. She teaches like most professors, which is the wrong way. She does not offer any in-class activities to help students learn the material, she simply lectures the class. Her class offers no real learning, only committing facts to your short term memory until your done with the test.
hates guys. extremely biased. Guys watch out, she has her favorites and their always female. She gives you the grade she thinks you deserve. I missed one class the entire semester and for some reason that 15% didn't help my grade. Thanks for the C.
Her teaching technique is kind of unclear. Knowing exactly what she says can be more important than understanding the lessons when it comes to the tests. Maybe she has favorites, but I still like her. She is funny and interesting. She teaches some intersting topics
fairly easy class. lots of reading that you have to keep up with. prof greenbaum is a nice lady with a good sense of humor, and class topics are interesting. take this class!
she chose a small and cheap textbook.. around40$. she may not like guys but if you just READ the short passages and GO TO CLASS to write down her notes you can make a double sided cheat sheet for tests that she allows. There is NO REASON with a cheat sheet NOT to get an A or A+. Easy A, just put in some effort.
I took her three times. Her lectures are never boring, and she encourages class participation. She really likes students who express interest in the material, be it through email, meeting with her, or talking in class. I never sensed any bias towards men from her, and I am a man myself.
very strict grader... mostly multiple choice questions and short essays. u can bring a cheat sheet of one page for her exam. lots of reading. she is a cool lady. But strict grader.
I loved the topics, but her exams were not easy, even with the cheat sheet! I wanted to take her Sexuality class but have decided against it because she doesn't allow cheat sheets for that class. She's a cool woman, but a strict teacher.
Animal&Society- Soc 429. this professor teaches her ways which is being a vegan. she forces the issue in every class instead of teaching the sociological aspect of animals in the US..if she does do a leacture, it is all over the place. Very boring and unorganized..watched extremply graphic animal crulty videos to stress that being a vegan is "pure"
I took her for Gender. She kept the classes very interesting. Got to use a 2 page cheat sheet! How could you not get a good grade?! Interesting topics and used a lot of hands on tools rather than just talking. I am taking her again for Sexuality.
Oh Please I only took her courase because I had too for my major. Gender was boring and she was not helpful. If students went to her office for help she would give them mjor attitude. Including myself. She does not like girls or guys. She has a major chip on her shoulder. Get over it, or get out of CCSU.
she is a great teacher, she does not pick favorites or dislike guys. you can use a double-sided cheat sheet so theres no reason for doing bad. shes hilarious and keeps class interesting. definitely take her.
Horrible teacher, don't waste your time. Does nothing but whine and complain half the time
Horrible professor, very hard to talk to, gives major attitudes when come with the question, often does not even answer them, not clear on anything, I strongly do not recommend her.
This professor is very biased and it feels like she does not care. She makes this class very boring and she is not helpful at all. I agree with previous comments that she gives students major attitude when students went to her office with the questions. It seems that she does not like any one. Also she is very unorganized.
The professor is a really good proffessor and she is passionate in her class. She is a funny proffessor and talks alot about real world issues. she does allow a cheat sheet/front and back on test day which is great. You have to make sure you take notes or find a friend who can take notes for you. Overall she's ok!
Don't take her!I hated going to her class, she has an attitude and if you are not her class pet, you will not do well in this class. I am an A student, but got a C in her class, still do not understand why. She is not clear and tests are confusing. Do not take her.
This professor is AWESOME! as long as you keep up with the readings and go to classes the exams are a breeze.. the only way not to do well is never go to class and save all studying for last min. She is def my new fav teacher!!!
The class material is important, relevant, and interesting. You need to read the textbook and a lot of articles to do well on her short answer/essay form tests. There are a couple of short papers too. This class will make you examine and question our society in terms of gender roles.
I am graduating this fall, 2011 and she is the ONLY professor I regret taking. This is the only class that I got a C+ and still graduating with honors, because she was that hard and not easy to talk to. I do not recommend taking her at all.
I love this lady! She is hilarious and very passionate about the subject. Be prepared to read and do homework. Homework is not graded on what you wrote but if you read. Shes aweome and I would def recommend her:)
This was a very interesting class. Topics were fun and she gives a lot of opportunities for discussion. You are allowed study guides for the quizzes which are all fairly easy.
She is an incredible professor! Great insight, very honest, and makes sure you know the information inside and out. You must go to class because the lectures are essential to the tests. But class is fun and there is tons of discussion. You are able to use a cheat sheet on every exam with as much info as you can fit. TAKE HER!
Dr.greenbaum is an excellent teacher. She expects students to work hard so do the homework! As long as you read the class discussions can get very interesting. She is very laid back and approachable as long as you take the class seriously. In this case great teacher does not mean easy teacher but I would definitely recommend her class!
Professor Greenebaum(pronounced "Green-Bowne")expects her students to show up to class and contribute. I don't think I learned a lot from her directly because her class time was mainly class discussions. I learn more from the reading than from her. A lot of the material is directed towards politics. Not my favorite class, but she is a very cool.
Very good professor. She is interested in the subject material and is a great resource. Those who are not feminists may not enjoy her class as much. Heavy reading in this course.
Professor Greenebaum was very funny and personable. She doesn't take attendance but participation is a big part of your grade. Don't take her if you're expecting a lecture course.
Professor Greenebaum was very pleasant as a teacher. Most of the material was in the form of a class discussion and reading from the textbook, but the tests were open-ended short answers. Very easy course if you have any kind of interest in the subject. BE WARNED: This class is very biased towards the suffering of women, little else is discussed.
Fair Teacher. Using the book is a must to pass the class, same with doing homework. Interesting teacher and always available for extra help. On the plus side you can bring in a cheat sheet for the tests.
Very hard to talk to and very condescending. Her tone of voice is very sarcastic and manipulative. If I have a question, i would rather not ask. She makes you feel like your question is dumb. I'd rather not talk to her period. Just come to class and leave. I'll figure the rest out on my own..
I expected more from her after taking Intro of WGSS. She goes off a powerpoint in all her classes and you don't do anything interactive in class. She expects you to understand feminism through reading a textbook.
She was an amazing professor. She really gets you into the class and the subject matter. She is funny and sarcastic which makes class even more fun. Its a lecture but it doesn't feel like most. Homework is easy and there are only 3 tests and an essay. Make sure to do the reading. She lets you bring a notecard to tests.
Even though you can use cheat sheets, you have to take a lot of notes during lectures and read the chapters to obtain information for the exam. Participation is a must. Only 10 homework assignments.
She's a very inspirational and great woman, I learned a lot from her despite that the class was not related to my major at all. She made me realize a lot of things about our society and humanity and I would recommend the class to anyone. Just make sure you take good notes and do your homework.
Jessica Greenebaum is one of the best professors i have even taken a class with. Her passion for animal and gender studies is contagious!! She is understanding, funny, smart and caring. TAKE HER CLASSES!
My favorite professor at CCSU. I've taken two of her classes and continue to check in with her now and again. Her Feminist Theory class honestly changed my life. Doing homework and attending class was truly enjoyable. Do not leave CCSU without taking this class.
Dr. Greenebaum is an incredible professor. She's very passionate about what she teaches, and if you pay attention in class, you'll become passionate too. She is extremely understanding, and makes sure the course material is relevant so she doesn't bore students. I learned so much from this course and I'm really thankful to have had Dr. Greenebaum.
Really nice, you'll learn a lot. Makes her opinion known but doesn't push it on you. 4 papers, group proj, 10 homeworks, no exams. LOTS of reading. If you don't do it you'll fall behind on papers & exams, but if you do you'll be fine. If you like animals this class is not for you, she's a great professor but I dreaded the class for its content.
As someone who's taken her multiple times, Soc of gender was definitely my favorite. Good class discussions. Like always, lots of reading and you better do it. She's very nice. 3 exams, 2 papers, 2 homeworks (only 5% each).
Dr. Greenebaum is hilarious! Her sense of humor is a nice refreshing addition to her lectures. She's extremely passionate about the subject and human rights in general. There's two exams and you get to have a cheat sheet. Definitely recommend!
She's fair. You need to show up to class and understand her lectures. Her tests are a little hard when it comes to wording but she allows a cheat sheet. I recommend her because she's funny and her lectures are interesting.
Only 2 exams, the wording is extremely hard to understand, allowed a cheat sheet which helped, participating matters, final is a make or break for your grade, tough grader on essays, multiple choice questions extremely challenging
She is amazing at engaging her students and getting them fired up over issues that matter. Most classes end up being class discussions. I have learned a lot from her class that I will apply to real life, and I think she believes that is more important than just memorization. She is a bright, inspirational person and it makes class so much better.
Hard intro class and harsh grader on literally everything. Youre allowed to have a cheat sheet for the test but very little on the study guide matches the test. Points all hold the same weight so if you lose 10 points on a homework its the same as losing 10 points on an exam. This means if you lose credit, you have no way to make it up.
Shes rude and unprofessional. Make sure you sign the attendance sheet (Even if you are sitting in class and the sheet doesnt make its way to you or you show up late) because if you dont then she takes at least 3 or 5 points off your final grade. Definitely would not recommend her to anyone, she has a nasty side to her.
Professor Greenebaum is extremely engaging in her lectures. She encourages class discussions and for students to speak their mind. There is a midterm, a final, 2 essays, and 5-6 written responses. The lectures can sometimes feel heavy but the class goes by quickly because she spends most of the class making real-life connections. Highly recommend!
Professor Greenebaum is awesome. She always makes lectures fun and interesting. She likes to engage with students as much as possible. This is why Participation matters, as long as you participate in at least one in every class you'll get a good grade. Lastly, Make sure you do your assignments on time because she does not allow late assignments.
I took the class asych so it was pretty easy to complete homework and class work. She makes a study guide for the exam but it doesn't really help. If there are video or passage based questions in the exam then the study guide helps. YOU MUST TAKE NOTES TO PASS THE EXAMS!!
Dr. Greenbaum is an amazing professor, her lectures are great, very informal & she wants you to partake & share your view on the topic at hand. Her exams are difficult but if you study & do the readings you'll do fine. If you ever need clarification she is always willing to meet during office hours & is very approachable & helpful.
Professor Greenebaum is wonderful as a person, and knows her stuff. I do find her study guides to be useless and actually harmful since none of it typically is on the exams. You can basically fail the course if you mess up on one exam due to the lack of assignments and lack of extra credit.
Took her before previously, she was very good, after Nov 6's results she has changed. She took out her frustration upon the students and was very rude at points. Her exams were easier but very vague on what was needed. Lectures were okay. Overall used to be a professor I would recommend to others but not anymore.
nice professor as long as you're taking notes and studying for test you can use one cheat sheet for exams.
