Very nice teacher who cares about her students. A little harsh on the tardy policy but other than that sheis awesome. Just take notes in class and you'll do fine.
Very easy going teacher. you can tell she loves her job. she really puts herself out there to help with any questions or problems.just make sure you come to class and take notes or follow along on blackboard
she is very down to earth, all around easy class, just take the notes and you will do fine, everything that is on the test is in the notes, except for 1-2 questions. but other than that, great class
She was really nice, the notes were clear and she would lecture things that were related. Very persistent about posting note on blackboard. Very helpful. Quizzes were easy.
She is very passionate about teaching this subject. Jessica is very helpful to any student. Great for keeping notes on black board. Test are easy, Just do not be late for class and u will do fine!
She is FANTASTIC! Take her courses whether or not you are interested in the subject, her passion will make you interested. She is honest, down to earth and intelligent. Buy the book, read it, come to class and on time, turn your cell phone off, respect her and you will do great! There is a quiz after each chapter which really helps with retention.
Good teacher, easy tests. you dont need the book. As long as you come to class, pay attention and have common sense easy A. Surprised that there aren't more hot ratings.
Jessica is a great teacher. She is caring and understanding. You don't really need the book. She has powerpoint presentations that she uses with her lectures. The class consists of quizzes after each chapter. They aren't hard. I spent maybe one or two hours studying and got an A on every quiz.
Amazing teacher! Extremely down to earth, great teaching style. Quizzes are pretty easy, supplies you with all powerpoints and assignments through blackboard. Wants everyone to have the same opportunity to pass. One of my favorite professors I've had.
Great down to earth teacher and easy on the eyes as well.
Good teacher! She was very helpful and understanding. I would def. take another one of her classes. I had her for an online class and it not very difficult at all.
Teacher is too focused on grammer and not focused enough on the actual material of the class. It was like being in highschool again. Use your textbook index when taking the quiz. It helps. I put more work into this class than a 5 hour micro class. So make sure you have time set aside for highschool like homework. Good luck
Be prepared for the epitome of a high school teacher. If you're 5 min late, you aren't allowed to enter the room & counted absent. The material is really easy, but she isn't terribly intelligent. You have a group project where your group members determine a fraction of your score. She has bad grammar, too. Take this class online and don't pick her.
She's pretty awesome, loved her.
Very easy class. I am taking it online. 10 question quizzes every week with a 4 paragraph discussion board post or a one page paper-one of the two each week. I would have to try to get a bad grade in this class.
I recently took Sociology 160 over the summer. Halperin is a very helpful professor and is always willing to reach out. Although her papers are not always clear on what to do, her class is overall pretty straight forward. Interesting class and Helpful Professor.
Took this class online over the summer. Assignments were assigned weekly and due a week later. Very easy to stay on track and receive an A. Cumulative final but if taken online you always have your book to reference, but you will need to do the reading to pass the tests. Overall great class and easy way to take care of a sociology credit!
Not a hard class......she doesn't expect late assignments even if you are one min late. i am currently taking her class online
she is my favorite teacher so far she is understanding and makes accommodations for you when you need as long as you talk to her prior to class!
She is awesome and the class is really easy if you show up and do the work. She is really cool.
If you don't get an A in this class, you might want to rethink about working at a fast-food restaurant for the rest of your life.
I LOVED Mrs. Halperin's class!! She made learning fun. All the tests we done online and you get to use your book but ARE timed. Pretty easy though IF you do your reading. I would highly recommend her class to anyone!!
Easy, fair, and fun
I had several problems with her. She didn't control the class & loud students frequently interrupted; she told personal stories that I consider T.M.I., and the coursework was not challenging. It felt like high school all over again.
This class was excellent! Halperin does include alot of her own personal stories but they are relevant to the topic and make the topics much more relatable. It made her seem more like a person who is in love with her job rather than a professor in front of a classroom. Tests are fair and easy. I highly recommend.
she is very nice, fair, and easy.
She made the class very easy to understand, and gets her students involved to understand better. Wish I could have her for every class!
Mrs Halperin is so nice and helpful. She really loves her job which makes her class all the better. For her Quizes you will need to read the text book. She always gives you a heads up on how to Ace the Class.
Mrs. Halperin is great. Just show up for class because she makes it interesting also she's pretty so you'll have something fun to look at while you learn something interesting!
THE BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. WISH THAT I CAN RETAKE THE CLASS.
She is a great teacher who is really helpful if you use her as a resource. I took the course online and still learned much more then I expected. I really enjoyed the papers that we had to write and I learned somethings about myself. It is a really great class too take.
SHE IS THE BEST! She really inspired me in many ways over the semester I had in her class, I'll never forget her, If you have the option I definitely recommend you take her class she keeps it fun and energized, and always has a positive attitude, I appreciate what a good person she is and how she helps the community, She's one in a million!!
Mrs Halperin is awesome. She is very upfront with you from day one. The grade is based on a weekly video worksheet (easy), chapter quizzes (open book, multiple attempts, STRAIGHT FROM THE BOOK), and then a book report on an interesting book, and you have almost the entire semester to complete. As long as you apply yourself, you'll get an A.
Wonderful Instrutor. Great feedback on papers, really helps you develop.
Very good instructor. Second time taking this course. Got a C the first time with another instructor and I hated the class. I found this one very interesting and actually learned a lot. Be prepared to write papers and write them well.
Friendly and energetic teacher. I find this class a lot of work to receive my A, but she made you very aware of assignments. She showed videos about half classes while lecturing the other half. She was available if you had questions.
Such and energetic and friendly teacher. About half the class periods we watched videos, the other half she lectured. It seemed like I was doing a lot of work for this class to receive an A but she helps you in whatever way she can.
Fantastic teacher! Extremely helpful and pushes students to succeed as long as they try. Very interested in topics and makes the class more fun. Applies what we are learning to reality, which is great. Double-thumbs up for her!
Jessica was amazing! Took online and super easy. One chapter a week, quiz based on chapter (read the book!), and either a DB or a short essay each week. The only way to fail is to not do the work! Plus book/class was interesting and made me want to learn more about a subject I didn't previously care for. Take this class!
Mrs. Halperin was the best. I'm a sociology major, but the class was super easy. Lectures are easy, you get to watch a movie almost every week- her 'Film Fridays.' The online quizzes can be done at home WITH THE BOOK but sometimes they're pretty hard because questions are confusing. I got a 98/100 on the final and didn't study. Eaaaaaasy A.
Super easy class. You show up for lectures but all the work is done outside of class, your whole grade is made up of chapter quizs which you do by reading the chapter. You could do the whole class by not showing up to the lectures at all. Highly recommend
I loved her class. She always made lecture interesting and encouraged class discussion. I highly recommend taking her class.
Interesting class and great online teacher. Discussion boards are long, but the material is interesting and easy to write about. Expect to write one two-page double spaced discussion board post each week, one quiz, and one brief reply to another discussion board post. One short paper at midterm. Pretty easy class. Definitely need the book.
She is an amazing teacher. She actually cares for her student. Recommend taking her class if you are at all interested in Sociology. You will not regret it. There is a weekly quiz on blackboard but it is open book. This class is easy but interesting
Great teacher she has to be one of my favorites. She knows what she is doing and gives you a chance to retake a test if needed by far the best teacher
Shes a great sociology teacher! I wish she would have taught more from the book though because that's what the final is over and the weekly bb quiz. I used quizlet a lot to find answers. If you do all of the assignments and take all of the weekly quizes its a breeze. Knows her stuff and is very sweet.
Halperin is AWESOME! She is one of the best teachers that I have ever had! She is really laid back and gives very good lectures. You do have tests every week, but they are open note and pretty easy. She is good about making you feel prepared for anything in her class that you cannot use notes on. She is super friendly and you can tell she cares.
Great teacher! Very helpful tells you exactly what she wants and gives plenty of time for the paper and assignments. There is weekly online quizzes you have a week to complete and you can take them at home. There is one paper due and she gives you everything you need to write a great paper. Little bit of reading required but overall very easy A.
Jessica Halperin is the most amazing instructor that I have ever had. She kept me interested and eagerly awaiting the next assignment. I took the course online and her lectures made me wish that I was in class opposed to at home. I enjoyed this class so much that I would take her again and again. I had more praise for her but I'm out of characters.
She really loves teaching and you can tell by the way she teaches. I read other remarks saying the class was easy. That in no way is saying that she will give you a good grade even if you do not perform the work. It is saying you will learn the material easily due to her teaching style and that is what makes the class easy. I rate her an A+
This is a very easy class. All of the quizzes are online and the only real test is the final which is also really easy.
Fun class, interesting perspectives.
J. Halperin is the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of being taught by. She loves what she does and she cares for her students. Definitely need the book to pass weekly tests, but pretty straight forward. I would take more classes from her in the future. Easy A as long as you keep up with the weekly blackboard tests.
She's a very nice teacher. The quizzes are online and you can use your book. Be sure to take your time on the quizzes and take the notes she provides for you. She's very helpful and cares for her students.
Good class. Easy grade honestly but you learn a lot. There are tests every other week on blackboard and they basically make up your grade.
As long as you do the reading, you should do well on the tests. She is a very tough grader when it comes to the discussion board papers. She requires you to really know APA citations as well as write two papers at least two pages long per week. Overall, as long as you participate and make an effort, I think it's an easy A.
Easy A as long as you read. Tough grader on discussions. Very organized.
Easy A, class is a breeze compared to any other class I have taken. Read the text before any test a lot of questions come out of the book. Take notes over her lectures. If she says something is important than it will be on the test most likely. There were a few group projects nothing huge. Awesome professor would take again love this class.
Mrs. Halperin was a phenomenal instructor, explained things thoroughly and made Sociology a very interesting topic. Exams are online excluding the final. MWF classes don't have to write papers, but TR & MW do, thought that might be helpful to throw in the review. ;) She conducted thought provoking discussions and was just a delight to be around!
Mrs. Halperin is a really caring, honest, and genuine professor. She lays out everything that she expects from you and shows films that depict different sociological aspects. She will work with you if you need help and requires weekly quizzes online. You can tell that she truly cares about her students and that shines through her teaching.
I absolutely loved this class and wish I could have have taken the lecture class, but I had to take it online because of my schedule. Her instructions were very clear, she was quick to respond to emails, and most of all it was very interesting - I actually really enjoyed the chapter reading assignments. Even online, best instructor Ive had
Mrs. Halperin is a very nice and caring professor. She wants to see you succeed and will push you in every way she can. I am so glad I took her class and highly recommend her! There's quizzes every week but all of the answers are from either her lecture or the textbook. Take her class!
Mrs. Halperin is so nice and friendly! Class is an easy A as long as you read, take the online tests, and show up on when expected.
You will gaining knowledge also relaxing. Very caring. You will like it.
One of the best teachers I have ever had! She is great at making sure everyone understands. Lectures are very clear. This class was definitely interesting.
Above and beyond kind and considerate teacher. She goes to great lengths to make sure she knows her stuff and is giving you quality info. You can tell she is super passionate about her profession and the students. Not much more to say besides take her and have fun
Love Mrs. H. She is very respectful and intelligent. Her lectures are very easy to follow along with and she relates the material to real world issues. No homework, one online quiz every week or two. Overall, a very fun and beneficial class.
This class has a 50 point quiz for every chapter but they are online so just read your chapter and then use the book as you take the quizzes. Take notes in class but they aren't too lecture heavy. Lots of videos and movies that are super easy points. Overall you can't do bad in this class if you put in a little effort. Love this professor!
Jessica Halperin was fine I suppose, but the class sucked. I would not suggest it to anyone and DON'T take with psychology.
Great teacher, just took her for online Sociology 160, very caring, she doesn't just let you fail, you can ask her questions and she will help fix what you got wrong! Not to many teachers care about their students so this was a plus. Also her test and quiz were fairly easy and the great thing about that was all of the test and quizzes were online!
Jessica is amazing! I would highly recommend her. You arrive a student and leave a friend.
Jessica Halperin is the worst teacher I've ever had. I'm currently in her class and debating dropping. She is a very tough grader and assignments are not worth enough points. Her lectures are a bore. I'm taking the class online and watch her lectures. She clearly doesn't know what she's talking about and never answers my questions. Never take her.
You take her tests outside of class so you can use the book and notes. Its a super easy class if you just pay attention
The first day of class loved her voice. I know that's a really weird thing to say but liking the professors voice is a good thing if you're going to listen to their lectures. She accepts everyone and understands different points of views. I guess that's important if you're a sociology teacher. She's great.
I think she's a very easy professor. Took her online class and the only downside to it was a 2 page essay was required every week and a quiz. Very easy if you can keep up with the game.
Her lectures are really valuable. Not just to prepare for the tests but just because she talks about very REAL subjects. I don't even like sociology but her lectures were something I enjoyed and learned a lot from.
I took her online class. I enjoyed the discussions & they make you think & you use your own experiences. I feel like I actually learned a lot. She sticks to her set schedule of when things are due. No late work unless there is a Blackboard issue. Your discussions are 2 pages long and 50 pt quizzes every week.
She is a great teacher and really knows what she's talking about in her lectures. She uses her real life experiences to relate to the material she's teaching and her student's lives so they can relate to what she's talking about. Overall great teacher and a great person!
Mrs. Halperin is a passionate humanitarian and overall authentic. Refreshing.
Halperin is an awesome teacher! She is very passionate about sociology and wants her students to get the most out of it. She offers a lot of extra credit. She has quizzes on blackboard that you take once a week on your own, which can be very easy to forget about. thankfully, she lets you retake one at the end of the semester.
By far my favorite teacher at maple! Very passionate about what she does plus all the quizzes are take home quizzes
So many papers to write, it appears it is well stated as to the grading, but even when you follow those it seems as if it still is right. This is a sociology course, not a writing comp class.
She is a great teacher and explains things well. She keeps her classes short so youre not bored and all quizzes are online and come straight from your notes or the book. She also puts notes online for your benefit. She is an awesome woman and i would recommend her to anyone
A good professor with an amazing attitude for teaching . Only one issue was she shared a lot of opinions which were controversial and no other opinions were allowed to be shared by students. This might be the reason shes a good professor ,due to her passion of her beliefs. Although others may be easily angered by the opinions. vise versa
This class was straight forward and easy to follow. Halperin is very knowledgable about this subject and explains it well. There was one paper, she was very clear on the grading criteria. The quizzes are taken at home and easy if you read the chapters and powerpoints. This class was enjoyable and I'm glad I took it with her!
One of the most amazing professors I've ever had. She's super nice and caring, she really opened my eyes about a lot of things in society we tend to look past. A very interesting class and I 100% would take one of her classes again!
This class is ridiculous. Its like a English writing class, ALL papers. Get ready to show up for a proctored exam at a testing location. I had taken an online class for convenience, that's out the window. TONS of BUSY WORK. TONS OF APA writing! RUN RUN!
Beware!!! I am amazed, this is more of a post grad comp class! You will write papers for discussion boards over 10 papers! I would highly suggest you think twice before you get involved with this busy work instructor!
She is is not passionate at all, she doesn't care if you are sick, all that matters to her is to submit those 2 different essays every week. It's like English class. Run for your life. I 100% do not recommend her online class.
Mrs Halperin was a great teacher over this summer. I just finished her online Sociology class and she takes the time to care about her students. Fast responding to my email and always willing to help. Being a nurse I needed to take this class and even as it does not apply to my degree program, this professor has taught me a lot! She is FANTASTIC!
I really enjoyed Professor Halperin's class! It was interesting and she knew what she was talking about. If you take notes, pay attention during the films, and put a little bit of effort in, it's an easy A. I see a lot of bad reviews on her online class but she is wonderful in class in my opinion. I definitely recommend!
great teacher, very passionate about what she teaches and all tests are from the notes or the text book
This probably normal for Soci professors but she's a raging feminist who thinks white men are a determent to society. just agree with her on all your written assignments and you'll get 100 on them. There's 1 paper throughout the course and a couple tests, the tests you can use your textbook on tho so they're pretty easy.
If your aiming to have an A, it will be hard to do so. (If you are planning to take the online class) You have to write 10 papers for 10 chapters, and a 50 point quiz every week. On the essays, she doesnt give good feedback to make them better. She is a tough grader on the essays. Also, the midterm and the final exams are proctored.
Gave her students a decent amount of work and if you don't stay on top of it, it will hurt your grade. Make sure you ask questions when you need to, keep up with the lectures, and turn the assignments in. All the work was easy and mainly common sense stuff. She did a great job teaching, I would definitely recommend her!
She's by far one of my favorite teachers. I'm really not the best at sociology but she makes it so easy and so interesting. If you miss exams because you're gone, she works with you or if you're late with homework, she'll work with you. All her homework is interesting and easy and she's just caring overall. I wish I could say more on this website.
Jessica was a nice professor and always had interesting stories to tell. If you pay attention to lectures and study the lectures you will pass with no problem. Would've given 5/5 but some assignments she was very harsh on grading and didn't give much of an explanation as to why the grade was given.
Mrs. H is one of the Greatest teachers I've ever had. She is the most caring, and understanding professor out there. She truly cares about student success. I loved her as a professor. I had her class early in the morning where I had no desire to want to be there, But her class truly was amazing. I wish I could take her again as an instructor honest
Her online class was all over the place! Units were split up into several web pages! I got a zero on a quiz because I couldn't find it! Very unclear in grading criteria! Stingey grader! All around very difficult to navigate her course and understand all her expectations! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ESPECIALLY IF NOT TECH SAVVY!!!
Jessica is a great person in life but in reality the classroom is not where she belongs. I had an A but due to the Covid-19 and all the classes were forced online, I ended up getting a d because her lectures and tests were hard to follow and most content wasnt found in textbook. Great personality, but also tough grader and doesnt care if you pass
Mrs. H was a great teacher! She gave more extra credit than I could ever imagine and always graded things on time and in a timely manner. In class she covered everything we needed to know through presentations while being extremely inspirational about the subject. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her course!
She is such an amazing woman. Very caring and puts things in perspective with everything she teaches. She offers several opportunities for extra credit-even easy ones like an online game. she lets you use your notes on the final and it genuinely one of the best professors ive ever had.
My favorite teacher so far at Maple Woods. She is so nice and loves what she teaches. Good amount of extra credit too but it's still easy to get an A without doing it if you put effort in your work and study.
She really cares about and loves what she teaches and it shows. I didn't even show up the last half of the semester (because I was lazy not because I didn't like her or the class) and still got 46/50 on all the quizzes by looking just at the lecture slides and a few questions easily lookupable from the book. Caring & makes the material relatable.
She's a good teacher nice, no tests only quizzes over each chapter and you can use notes. Two papers
Mrs. Halperin is a great teacher and I would recommend her class to anyone. Her lectures are interesting, her explanations are thorough, and the films we watched were both meaningful and relevant to the coursework. If you have a chance to take her class I would definitely recommend it!
I took her online sociology class and all we did was write a 2 page discussion board every week and had a quiz(save lots of reading and use quizlet!!). Super boring but super easy class.
This class was pretty interesting. It involved participating in weekly discussion board posts and completing chapter quizzes (Quizlet is your best friend!). This class isn't difficult, but it does require quite a bit of writing. Overall, I had a good time, and Mrs. H does a great job of facilitating this online course.
very good class to take. she has quizzes due every week over the chapter, must use book to get an A, still pretty easy though. she has 2 one pager assignments which are super fun. 3 part final but 2 quiz part is all on quizlet, last part in class. she gives a lot of extra credit, I didn't do any but it was very nice that she offered it. very caring
Mrs. Halperin is an excellent professor who cares deeply about the success of her students. She REALLY wants students to succeed and makes her expectation very clear from the beginning. She is a generous and thoughtful person as well. I highly recommend taking her class.
This was a really interesting class and Prof Halperin is really engaging and gives great feedback. There are opportunities for extra credit by attending lectures that are coordinated through the school.
Best teacher ever! The only regret I have is that I did not take the in person class. She is very understanding and explains things. I would love to have her for another class!. There was lots of reading, however, it was easy to get through. I took the summer online class and loved it.
Lots of busy work but if you have a personal issue she doesn't work with you. Not sure why all the ratings are so high. I had to retake the class with someone else.
Caring and flexible professor. Lectures are very personable and she uses her own life experiences to connect with material. Would defiantly recommend!
Ms. Halperin was amazing. Her lectures are very interesting and she shares her own experiences that are related to the lecture. She was so sweet, especially when my grandfather passed away in the middle of the semester. More teachers should be like her! 10/10 recommend her if you want to take sociology.
Speaking to Early College students take her if you have time in your day to study. She does a lot of lectures and if your busy with extra circular activities, it can get overwhelming. She doesn't accept late credit and if you don't understand small concepts, your going to get a bad grade on her exams. Her exams are worth a lot of points
Halperin was a pretty good teacher. She was very kind and knowledgeable on her subject. The course is mainly a few big papers that matter and she offers in class time to help with them. She cares about her students and you can tell she wamts you to succeed
I love her. She was so nice and though she doesn't usually give extra credit, she gave a lot towards the end. She helped me through every tough question I had and graded quickly. It was a bit of reading and writing. Sociology and Psychology is something I love, so I didn't have a problem with it. I ended it with an A and I would 100% take her again
Prof Halperin was very understanding throughout the semester and clearly knew what she was talking about. That said, this class is easy. If you are graduating at the end of the semester then take this class because there is little to no work outside of class and the exams are a piece of cake.
The summer '24 semester was packed with material errors, which the professor recognized and did not fix. Excuses were abundant. Students had to consistently reach out to correct blatant errors on nearly all assignments/quizzes/exams. The teacher accused AI endlessly, utilizing a variety of free "AI detectors" to justify claims. An embarrassment.
Should not be an educator. Lacks compassion, and real-world experience. Despite an alleged lengthy history teaching, it seems as though this was their first year. I doubt they could effectively manage any other profession without near-immediate termination. Their behavior is not professional. Just no. Do not take. Drop if enrolled.
Digitally illiterate. Condescending. Creates assessments with contradicting materials, identifying wrong answers as correct. I have no idea how they manage to educate, it baffles me that the institution employs them. Unless you put immense effort into continually messaging for corrections, you will not get the grade you deserve.
All other high-reviewing students must have confused this teacher with someone else. Poor educator.
Continually accused the entire class of cheating/using AI on assignments with zero proof. Gave feedback on assignments but failed to educate on how to correct mistakes. I'm appalled at the entitlement that Professor Halperin gives off and her inability to listen to feedback from her students.
She is extremely unprofessional. From time to time she sneaks in her political ideologies on us and rambles on about her political ideologies and TRIES to connect them back to her lecture.I love hearing stories that teachers give but ALL her references is EXTREMELY political and might relate emotionally for students. It's like she pushes agendas.
Seriously, the best professor I've ever had. Lectures are easy to understand and exams are exactly like the study guide, but easier. You can tell that she loves what she does.
As long as you study for the tests, you'll pass. The tests are very easy. During lectures she does tend to go on rambles but I didn't mind too much, though it was a tiny bit annoying. Overall, a great professor and I loved her class!
Mrs. Halperin is a great professor! Her lectures are actually interesting and help you learn. Show up to class and pay attention and you will pass. Very kind as well.
Professor Halperin is an engaging and caring instructor. Her lectures are insightful, and she uses relatable examples to connect the material. Attending class is a must, but Unstuckstudy and the textbook make studying a breeze. Definitely worth taking!
She was my favorite professor for the semester. She was the only teacher I had who seemed to actually care about what she was teaching. She made sociology engaging and interesting. She is a great teacher too. The class is pretty easy but its fun to take. Never stressed for a second about this class and learned a lot.
lovely and caring and i want her to have the rating she deserves⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Grade hinges primarily on 5 exams but I absolutely loved her lecture style. Take this class to learn a bunch and if you apply It, you'll get a good grade
Class is so easy, I learned a lot. Unfortunately the reviews about her politics are true, you will be uncomfortable if you don't believe what she does. It doesn't affect your grade, she is very open about that. Class discussions are heavily biased towards her ideology. Exams are a breeze, I studied less than an hour for each of them.
She's a great teacher and cares about what she talks about. There is a study guide given out before every test and they are all multiple choice tests except the final. There are a couple assignments but they aren't bad. You are also told what the final is on and are allowed to prewrite for it.
I really liked this class and Professor Halperin is a good teacher. It's very obvious that she cares about her students and she'll make sure you feel it. I reduced points because she heavily accused my class (repeatedly) of using AI. I can't speak for others but I genuinely wasn't using it so the accusations got to be a little much.
great teacher, knows how to relate to her students.
The lectures were not hard to understand and she allowed plenty of time for note taking. The book is optional. The tests were not difficult.
Genuinely such an angel. She was going through a lot of personal issues during the semester but still managed to show up to class everyday with a smile and so passionate with her lectures. She gave many opportunities for extra credit and extended due dates. It's harder to do bad in her class than good
