Dr. Igoe is Dr. Edwards. She got married recently. I just wanted to inform people looking for Dr. Igoe on here and find no ratings, just check her out under Dr. Edwards. I love her :)
she is easy going. not hard. very sweet! good at explaining things
She's absolutely awesome! her class requires no textbook, which was cool. her lectures are online if you miss her class, her activities are fun and so are her projects. I recommend this class!
She is a really good teacher. Lectures are clear and in my whole career in college, she ranks on the top 3. Take her if you want to learn. If you put forth the effort in studying, not only will you get an A in the class, but really remember a lot as you venture in the health related field.
Dr. Igoe is the best. During lecture, she is 100% clear and helpful, and in lab she was beyond informative. Having said that, Microbiology is not an easy subject. You will be studying a minimum of 15+ hours a week to get an A or B, and must pay attention to her every word, because she will tell you exactly what she expects you to know for exams.
Dr. Igoe is the best! She is more than helpful (especially during her office hours) and really cares about your success. Yet be warned, this class is very, very difficult. I think only a very few people got A's and after talking to one of them, he said he studied 10 hours a week just memorizing the details for each of the lab and lecture exams.
Dr. Igoe is an amazing Professor! Hands down the best Science Professor I have ever come across. Its true that MICRO is a difficult class but if its a class that involves the stepping stool for a nursing major, then it better be hard. Study hard and it will pay off, the information I learned in this class changed my life. TAKE IGOE FOR MICRO!! (:
Dr. Igoe is probably one of my favorite teachers of all time. This will bee the most interesting science class you will ever take. Also, she is cute and not to be weird but her voice is kind of attractive lol
she is one of the reasons why i'm narrowing my major to microbiology. she makes studying microbes soo interesting and clarifies everything really well! i took the online/lab hybrid course, so i downloaded her lectures off Tegrity (website where she uploads the lectures) and watch them in my own time. she really takes time to mention little things t
I simply love her. She is far the best teacher that I have ever had in my whole file, excluding my inorganic chemistry teacher in brazil. She is so amazing. If you want to learn and have fun, take her.
Bye Bye nursing Hello Micro!!! It's not often that a Professor changes your life. Dr. Jessica Igoe is the creme de la creme of Professors! Caring, organized, efficient, intelligent and passionate about her field and it shows. Every class should be structured like hers. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! Micro=Igoe that's the formula!
Dr. Igoe is possibly one of the best professors I have had at PCC. Her lectures are clear and concise, and she is more than willing to answer your questions during lab/office hours. Micro is by no means an easy subject. You better study hard if you want that A.
c'mon r u still debating between chess and igoe? Please in the next 2min close this window and g back 2u registration thing and pick igoe... If u dont believe 2 strangers please read the next 3 posts
this prof is unreliable. if you email her, expect reply in 1 week. don't count on her if she says she post something online. ex: she said she ll post up final grades on the fri after finals week. she posted it up 2 WEEKS after finals week. read book in order to ace the tests. don't rely on her lectures she go by so fast w/o asking us if we get it.
Professor Igoe is one of the best teachers I've ever had!! Her online lectures are super clear and she lets you know what exactly you're responsible to know for the tests. I really enjoyed her class!
Dr. Igoe is one of the best professors at PCC.She clearly loves what she does and that can make all the difference. My only regret is that I wish I had taken this course and no more than 6 other units because you spend a lot of time watching the lectures and going over your notes.
This professor is so bad...you can definitely find another professor smarter and more fair, she didn't give me a grade on my report even though I know I got the full 50 points.she's plays favorites(grades)and has a serious attitude problem, trust me if you want to work in the medical field get another teacher who teaches with KNOWLEDGE and INTEGRITY
what i like about her hybrid class is: she is very clear and you can listen to the lectures over and over. what i dont like is she tends to have an attitude at times and she never provides a study so you have to listen to her long lectures and study everything so you never know what to focus on since theres to much information!
There is a heavy amount of information to learn in this class. Professor Igoe was not only very clear about both the information and what she expected out of us, she gave us what we needed to succeed. Super helpful, super nice, and super smart!
Igoe wants to be on a par with USC/Berkeley/Stanford Micro 2 and other notable schools. Don't expect explanations, study guides, or underdog tactics. I studied my micro notes with every meal and I am still afraid to throw them away. Drop rate is about half.
Good Teacher. I loved the hybrid class. You should totally take this teacher. She is very good at her job.
Excellent!!!!
Dr. Igoe is extremely informative and intelligent. Yet she explains things in a way that is easy to understand. The only reason I enjoyed this class is because of her. She is easy-going and her lectures are even funny! I graduated from a top-tier university, but she exceeded my professors there. She is really great at her profession.
Dr. Igoe makes studying easy for you by condensing everything in the textbook to hour-long online lectures. She is very clear and detailed in her lectures, so you must pay attention to everything! This is not an easy class, and you must be up to date at all times! The homework is easy, but also very time-consuming. Prepare for sleepless nights.
PCC is very fortunate to have a professor like Dr. Igoe. I'm now in the nursing program. To compare the instructors we have now, Dr. Igoe has exceeded them in every aspect. She is clear, caring and extremely knowledge. I miss her class and the fun lecture. I wish every teacher could be like her, so my life would be so much easier.
WOW! There should be more like her. Very lucky to have taken this class with her. Dr. Igoe really teaches!!
Prof. Igoe is a wonderful teacher. She has mastered making learning about micro fun and interesting. Her tests are always from her online lectures. She grades fair. Oh and she offers wonderful study techniques (no credit) but well worth the time and effort you put in them in the long run. One of the best Professors I have had in a long time.
She is awesome! Maybe micro. is my thing or maybe she's great but I am IN LOVE with the subject. I did well in the class despite not doing so hot in the beginning. Labs were the best. Also, the fact that her lectures are on YouTube helped me so much because I was able to pause, rewind, review as many times WHENEVER I needed to. Take her!
She was wonderful and if you communicate with her she will help you pass!
She's the best of the best!! she's a wonderful professor! I Who knew micro could be this fun and engaging to learn! she's a REAL PROFESSOR and TEACHER! You won't regret taking her!
Of all the college professors I have ever had, Dr. Igoe is hands down the best! She encourages active learning, which makes class very enjoyable. It's not easy, but if you work hard and it will pay off. I encourage you to use Cornell Note-taking Method. Thank you Dr. Igoe!!!!
Dr. Igoe is an absolutely amazing instructor. Micro is very tedious and detailed but extremely interesting. She goes out of her way to teach you how to study correctly and truly cares about how the students are doing in her class. I really recommend her. I got a 92.7 in her class and it took a lot of work. But it is totally possible. Amazing!
No need to buy the textbook, I never even opened it. Just listen to her video lectures and take notes from there. I liked the lab so much and we didn't need to write reports. She's really helpful and she wants the students to really learn micro, not just pass the class.
Her studying method has changed my life! This professor cares for her students and takes the time to help you. She is an angel sent from college heaven. Micro is hard but with Igoe you will enjoy it. Take the hybrid class. Her online lectures are detailed and straight to the point. They were VERY helpful for the test. TAKE HER! You won't regret it
She was an okay professor. She def isn't even top five of worst professors at PCC or anything. She just seems to think highly of herself and seems to pick favorites, thereby, giving better grades to those. She is very clear in her lectures, I'll give her that. Although her test are fair, they are tough. Need to study very well to pass.
Dr. Igoe is a really cool, down to earth professor. Micro is very tedious and detailed but pretty interesting. She tries everything possible to get you to understand the material and teaches you how to study correctly. Only complaint is not even half of the study guide was the actual exam. But you need to study very well to pass with a B or higher
Taking Hybrid-Micro with Professor Igoe changed the way I am learning microbiology. It's a tough class, you have to understand what you're studying and not just "read your notes". She doesn't play favorites, that's ridiculous. Everyone gets graded equally. Patient and helpful, takes the time to explain things. Available outside of class. Amazing!
Micro's hard, but an "A" is totally attainable w/ Igoe. Keep up w/ weekly modules. Take good notes on everything (modules, recorded & online lectures). Regularly review notes to make sure you understand everything. Go to her office hour w/ questions and things you're unclear about. Know everything on the study guide & you'll do well. She's great!
The teacher is helpful and accessible if you need help. Everything on the exams is taken from online lessons and on-campus lectures, no surprises. Don't wait until last minute to cram because there are way too many things to do that, won't work for this class. Not too hard as long as you keep up. Very happy I took Micro with her.
Prof. Igoe is very detailed and helps you find a study technique that works for you. Micro is the hardest subject I took at pcc so DO NOT SLACK! As soon as you get that study guide study as much as you can before exam day. Quizzes are online.
Hardest class I've ever taken but Professor Igoe was god sent. She will go above and beyond to make sure you understand concepts. Keep up with the modules and don't forget to take the quizzes! Since it's a hybrid class I don't recommend buying the book since all the info you need to know is online, but totally up to you.
Dr. Igoe's morning lectures will keep you awake. She's a great professor. Her study guides are very intense but if you study them, you'll pass. Never miss a lab/ lecture because there's a lot of interesting and important content. I strongly recommend her class.
Micro was difficult but not as hard as everyone says it is. It was the most fun science class I'd ever taken. The hybrid course does an amazing job at integrating all the necessary information--there's no fluff and it's easily accessible. Four exams, online coursework, and three "big projects" throughout the semester. I finished with a 98% overall.
I took this course over the summer. The class is not too difficult if you keep up, study daily and take notes both in class and from her video lectures. Everything is very clear though. Getting an "A" is most definitely possible, but there is a LOT of material to cover. I go to a University, but Dr. Igoe is one of the best profs I've ever had!
Dr. Igoe is AMAZING! Take notes, go through every module, attend class, and you should be fine. There is a lot of information that you can take away and some may even surprise you! I absolutely loved it and you can tell that she's one of those professors who actually really cares. It's not an easy class, but it's definitely worth taking.
Do not take this class if you are a top notch science student. The content in the quizzes does not cover the face-to-face lectures or the online modules, so be prepared to read the textbook that she does not reference even once during the class time. She covers the easy material on lectures and avoids the more difficult content. She is ridiculous.
This class is very difficult. I showed up to class everyday, took good notes, and still did terrible in quizzes. The questions on the quiz are not covered in class.
I did not receive a grade because I dropped the class. The professor is arrogant and dismissive of ways others learn. I'm a grade A student and still struggled to do well on the quizzes. All the other aspects of the class were not difficult. I received full points on all the other assignments.
Very particular about the way she wants things done and will dismiss the way you do things as a waste of time.
Very difficult class.
Microbiology is an intense class because there is so much information you need to know, but I thought Professor Igoe was incredibly clear and organized. This class was my favorite class of the semester! As long as you stay on top of studying, an A in her class is absolutely doable. Overall, I would definitely recommend Igoe.
Professor Igoe is like a second mother. If you have the chance to take her, you won't regret it. Not only does she care about her student's success, but her passion for biology really shines through her lectures. Class isn't difficult at all, just make sure you turn in your stuff on time and you should be fine.
Dr. Igoe is amazing, earns a 5, shes one of those one-of-a-kind teachers for sure, I gave her a 3 because I didn't like her class teaching style. It was all based on group projects, writing assignments, and quizzes that would never be related to our lectures. This class could've been very difficult, but it wasn't. If need to get bio done, shes good
Never graded a thing!! Grades were put in at the last minute and never had the chance to talk to her about them. The quizzes are all BS, answers are no where to be found. Good luck if you take her class.
Online class- completely disorganized. Assignments locked often until the day before they were due. Due dates incorrectly entered into canvas/assignments locked prematurely & unable to submit. emails went unanswered for weeks. The entire semester of work was graded after the class had ended. The work itself was easy, navigating her class was hard.
First of all, it's microbiology that I took with Dr Igoe. If you don't show up, you're not gonna pass. If you don't do the work, you're not gonna pass. This isn't history class. But if you pay attention, reach out to her when you need it (she's very attention and detailed and she truly cares about you succeeding), you can get much better than this.
By far my favorite. Amazing professor, really understanding and down to earth. She cares a lot about her students and puts a ton of effort into her classes. Micro is a hard class, but she'll help you through it.
Her tests are insanely hard and she throws in questions about stuff she never even talked about. I got a 79.6 in her class and she gave me a C... yeah... she's THAT professor.
I took her during COVID transition, so classes switched quickly. She quickly organized online lectures (with incredible videos ) and retakeable quizzes/tests in a short period. She is fair, caring, detailed and eloquent; she explains the material well with passion and joy. Getting an A is possible! But put in time, there's lots and lots of material
I took Dr. Igoe's class in the Fall of 2019. The lectures were very interesting, make sure to take notes. The online assignments were a bit heavy so make sure to read the material provided before taking the quizzes. There are several group projects involved. They are all very interesting to do . I really enjoyed her class and I hope you do as well.
This class was already a hybrid course, but regardless Prof Igoe did not skip a beat when it came time to transition online. Igoe was great. She was available and supportive. Her lectures were packed with information. I would happily take this class again if I could. The class was super and so was Igoe.
Microbio is hard but she made the best of it during the pandemic.
Microbiology is a tough subject and Dr. Igoe helps you through it. Lab was in person. I enjoyed taking the class with her as she makes the materials easier to understand. Quizzes every week and all the information is found in the modules. Tests weren't too bad. Gave a lot of opportunities to get a good grade in the class. Overall good experience
Micro is a hard topic. Helps make it as easy as possible. Test and quizzes are quite difficult. May seem intimidating, but is very nice and kind. Ask for help when needed, she is always happy to help.
Igoe is very student forward. She wants you to succeed. You are also given every opportunity to show that you know that material. Even if you mess up part of a test you are given opportunities to prove you know the material and make up the points. This class is not an easy A. Micro is a hard subject, but if you put in the work you will do well.
As long as you put in effort, you will do fine. The materials are not too easy to understand but they are still doable. This is my first class with standard based grading but her class really met my expectations. DO NOT HESITATE to ask questions as she is willing to help. 4 exams, 1 group project and 1 final paper. You can't go wrong with her class
Microbiology is hard. Works hard to help students. When asking for help, she gives very clear expectations of what is needed. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Is very humble and helpful. DO NOT HESITIATE TO ASK FOR HELP. Wants students to learn, and will take the time to help.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is super nice, and she cares for her student's learning. Just take her class and enjoy learning microbiology without any pressure and stress.
Dr.Igoe is one of the most caring and dedicated professors that I have had. She is really cares about her students and their success. She really makes sure her students understand the material, and is always avail. in office hours. There is a lot of information in the modules, so be prepared to spend time on them.Take her class! she is the best!
Doctor Igoe is a passionate teacher that truly wants her students to succeed. There is not too much work but very helpful quizzes that are exam related. She really knows how to break down complicated concepts into much simpler forms and she made the lectures pretty fun which helped me pass with 95%. If you study, you will pass with an A for sure.
Dr. Igoe is a very passive aggressive professor and responds to comments, questions, etc. like a mean girl who never grew up. Also, she is not helpful when you ask questions and she is unreasonable.
Professor Igoe was one of the most caring teachers I've had! She went out of her way to help her students succeed and made sure they knew the material. She offers a lot of help outside of class. The class has a lot of info and requires your dedication but as long as you put in the effort, you'll do fine.
Dr. Igoe is the BEST! Has a different academic approach when it comes to grading and teaching, but it works out perfectly if you put in the time. She provides her students with motivation to do better and makes the process of understanding microbiology less stressful. Her lectures are clear and have examples. She really wants her students to excel.
Although this is not an easy class, Dr. Igoe truly cares about her students and is very knowledgeable about the material. She gives weekly lecture modules and your grade is mainly dependent on how good you do on tests, but the tests are standardized grading. She gives opportunities to retake the tests and is always available to answer questions.
I love Dr. Igoe! This class requires a lot of work but totally worth it. She uses standardized grading but lets you retest on all tests, including the final. When she explains tough material she makes it so understandable. The tests are kind of hard but as long as you study hard you will get an A. I ended up loving Micro bc of her! Take this class!
Prof Igoe is very caring and so nice! Grading is all based on the exams but she often lectures on the difficult subjects during discussion (breaks it down so easily a 10 year old could understand) and she hands out worksheets that are so helpful! She makes Micro so easy to understand and the class is designed for you to succeed. Don't fall behind!
This is my favorite professor in PCC! Take her ,you can learn too many things! Unlimited retake for exam, if you want get A , you have to study hardly! I love her!!!
Dr. Igoe is an angel on earth. So caring and wants you to succeed. Super clear Instructions. You can reassess all your exams. She's involved in your success. Helps you through the whole way. Breaks it down and makes the class more digestible. Take her you will not be disappointed.
I love her class so much. She is such a good teacher. We can even retake the exam, but remember not to wait and fall behind on the material. It is not an easy class, but I promise you, if you learn and follow her steps, you will pass with a really good grade. I enjoy her class so much.
If you're curious about the grading- being in Igoe's class is like experiencing being a nepo baby. You get set up for success?! It's THAT easy. Her grading system is so good it's bad. Having the privilege to unlimited retakes blows my mind (but obvs some ppl abuse this). You won't even need it if you just study like normal and grasp the material.
Dr. Igoe is such a nice professor. She is so lenient, her grading and testing literally forces you to pass. There is almost no way you can get a low grade in her class. She literally guides you through everything, she is so so so nice.
she is a great professor. However, micro is a hard class, so do the practice quizzes before taking the exam. you can retake the exams by different standards even the final. overall, I like this class and having a good relationship with the classmates, you can do it.
I loved Dr. Igoe's class! The concepts were super fun. She allows retakes for all exams. Do not procrastinate retakes. A lot of people procrastinate the retakes and have to take a lot during finals week... like I did. Do not do that it was so stressful, retake it as soon as possible and go to her office hours to retake! Goodluck.
To be straightforward, I had a really difficult time throughout this class, but Dr. Igoe allows multiple reattempts on any chapter of an exam which helps A TON. Some quiz questions are on the exam. She's very lenient but don't take advantage. You have to actually put in the work. Your grade is based solely on exams so make sure to study.
Professor Igoe was absolutely amazing. She was caring, understanding, direct, and honest. I really appreciated her grading style (not the usual A-F, but rather an evaluation on your learning via a standards based learning grading system). She allows retakes on exams, is very easy to reach out to for help, and really wants you to succeed. TAKE HER!
Professor Igoe is a literal ANGEL! She cares about your success and wants you to do well. It's on a Standard Based Grading and allows you to retake as many standards as you'd like. This helped a lot during the 6- week Winter semester. Take ADVANTAGE and don't fall behind ! Probably the best professor at PCC
Dr. Igoe is the best, she explains every concept in a digestible way, making it virtually impossible to not understand something. The standards-based grading may be intimidating at first, but it actually works in your favor! Use the resources she gives, don't fall behind, and trust me you'll get an easy A.
Dr. Igor is AMAZING. She is a standard based grader(doesn't grade off points) which is really helpful. It allows you to move at your own pace. Remember Microbiology is HARD as is but I promise Dr. Igoe makes everything so much easier. Her lectures annd modules are very organized and straightforward. YOU ALWAYS GET A SECOND CHANCE!
Everything on the canvas was very well-organized and easy to follow. Test heavy but no homework at all!! Honestly, as someone who's taking biology class for the first time, this class really sparked my interest in science in general. Study tip- Do the quizzes! Some of the questions from the quizzes are always in the test.
You can tell Prof. Igoe genuinely cares about her students and wants us to actually learn. She does standard-based grading and allows 2 retakes per standard which you can take during office hours or sometimes class. Very accessible. No homework. Labs are fun. Very easy to pass with an A as long as you take the time to learn the material.
your grade is based on your exam scores since that's the only thing she grades!!! I love her down she's the best microbio prof there is, it's very easy to pass the class as long as you have enough time to study everything in the modules will be on the exam !!!
