An amazing teacher. We take a lot of notes in the class and the exams are on the material from the notes. She gives a study guide for each exam so we know exactly what to study for. Just a very entertaining class.

Loved her! She was so energetic and always keeping the class awake. She made everything fun and she was sometimes funny when telling stories. She was very into teaching this class. Always asked if we needed clarity and her tests were easy, that's if you attend class. Great professor!

She is one of the most awesome teacher I have ever gotten. Her tests are exactly what she lectures during class. She does provide study guides way before the test day, so you should have enough time to study. I don't think anyone can fail her class. The way she teach makes you want to learn more. It's a fun class. :)

Her language class was amazing! I learned so much from her and she is very enthusiastic. Her tests are based on powerpoints and she explains everything extremely well. She has 10 reading assignments weekly but they're not hard. If you don't do well on tests then the readings will help but no one gets low scores. She's an awesome professor!!

There is little use of textbook, class was mostly based on lectures.She is super passionate about the subject matter and does her best to help eryone understand it. This is one of the best class ever. If you need help, she will help you. She explains the study guides thoroughly. It is all based on the powerpoints. She gives ample amounts of examples. The assignments are easy. The whole class is bsically mapped out before you even start class. I highly recommend you take this class.

All her power points are related to the test. She goes over the test and practically tells you which questions are on the test and where to find the answers. I didn't buy the book and still got a 92%. attendance required but stopped requiring near the end of semester. Some EASY article reviews and papers. Grades very easy on them. TAKE THE CLASS!

Super easy class. Powerpoint slides are given online, and covers everything that are needed for the exam. She lets you know which questions will be on the exam, so be sure to attend lectures. Very lenient on grading. Attendance was mandatory in the beginning, however was not during the end. Materials are always graded and given next class period.

awesome prof! the book is unnecessary if you take really good notes! it is rare to get below a B if you focus and do all the assignments. overall her tests are straightforward from her slides and study guides..but if you miss a day or two you can still catchup, but it is best not to miss it because her lectures are helpful. funny teacher

Professor Martinez is the best! She is always in a good mood which is congtagious. I loved coming to class even though it was not mandatory (it is the first week though). The test are super easy as long as you take good notes and use the study guide she provides. She is one of the best teachers at this school.

I LOVE Dr. Martinez she is wonderful. I have learned so much on from her. What is good about her class is it is very simple- 3 Tests (No cumulative final), 3 Reading Responses, 1 Taking Sides Assignment, 1 Interview report. No busy work, all assignments were helpful. Would take again if I could.

She is amazing! Best teacher I have taken. She has fun lectures and is very energetic. Printable lecture slides to take to class and add your own notes to. A few exams that include multiple choice and short answer. Loves to tell stories and hear students stories or comments.

Professor Martinez is awesome and very caring & understanding. Her lectures are never boring, even in a 3-hour night class. The class itself would be very difficult without showing up and taking notes. The tests are not cumulative, but definitely need to study hard to do well. The other assignments are easy, just keep up with them!

Her lectures are all posted online and they're very helpful and interesting! She assigns weekly homework but it's not difficult. The exam study guides have slide numbers so you can find the answers easily. She's so sweet and really wants to help her students succeed. I had her for a once-a-week evening class and she let us out early a lot.

The tests are easy. Study off the study guide and you'll be fine. She grades papers and tests pretty fast. Hands them back within the next class meeting.

Its like being taught interesting material by your favorite sister/aunt. Clear/relevant exams(study guide), helpful applied life experience, no homework, few small assignments and genuinely wants her class to get all A's, usually 50% do. Study at all for exams and you will do well, if not, she will help you . Overall, the best professor I have had.

HER STUDY GUIDES ARE THE EXACT TEST! 1 interview report, 2 article responses, and around 3 assignments from the book. Super easy grader though so it's no problem. Coming from a non-Nursing major, I took this class because I heard she was easy and I needed to fulfill category E. I ONLY showed up when stuff was due & never paid attention when I was there. I did the study guide the day before the exam & passed with an A or B every time. If you're like me and just want an easy class to fulfill a GE take her.

Jessica is a bubbly person that tries to make class entertaining. However I only showed up in class to turn assignments in and take the exams. It's an exceptionally easy class and attendance isn't necessary. Spend a good two hours on the study guides and you'll do fine on the exams.

Professor Martinez is an AMAZING professor. She is clear, concise, knowledgeable, caring, and fun! The class was interesting overall! There were several writing assignments including textbook writings, article reviews, a child observation report, and an interview report. The lectures were amazing and lined up perfectly with all 3 exams! Excellent!

Attendance is required to get full credit of reading responses, which are due about every week. Super easy one page double space. Great feed back. Didn't need the book except for twice towards the end of semester. You can just use it from the library. would definitely take this class again.

My fav prof. because she really understood the students point of view and made the content interesting. Gave papers back quickly. 3 exams but the 3rd is optional. Instead of having a lot to do at the end of the semester, the middle of the semester is the heavy load, which is AMAZING because its one less class to stress out about at the end.

I took her again after having her for 131. She is simply amazing. She doesn't make class easy she makes it fun/interesting which makes it seem easy. Professor Martinez is inevitable of the best professor at I've had . SUper clear grading criteria . You'll need the textbook for weekly reading responses and if you decide to do the optional exam . DO THE READING RESPONSES AND HW. They'd are only 3 points each so there's isn't many opportunities to make up points. Do the study guides & you'll be ok

Jessica is absolutely one of my favorite professors I have had at Sac State. Not only does she know the content and enthusiastic about teaching it, she also connects with each one of here students. I never would have thought I would look forward to going to a 3 hour Friday lecture class, but I did for her! She made me laugh ,and truly taught well!

This is the 2nd class of hers I've taken, and it was even better than the last! She genuinely cares about her students and their progress. The controversial issues she goes over are very eye opening and informative. I learned a lot from this elective, which I wasn't expecting. I would highly recommend her to anyone. CSUS needs more profs like her!

MARTINEZ IS THEE BEST TEACHER EVER. I took her for 131 and shes amazing. She has 2 tests and an optional 3rd if your grade isnt at what it should be. Reading responses every week and its just such a fun class.

Great class, the discussions were good I really loved hearing feedback from others and the professor herself. A lot of in-class group activities but its a good way to interact with other students. 1 paper at the end on the topics discussed from the group project. I recommend her and this class.

Jessica is very determined to give you the best class possible. The work load seems like it's a lot but it's all really simple and she goes over everything extensively. Her exams are so easy to pass because she gives you really detailed study guides. I highly recommend taking her because she actually cares about your success.

Take her class! She is one of the best professors I have had at Sac State. 10 reading responses that are 1-1.5 pages long, an observation paper, article review, and three tests. If you do well on the first two, you do not have to take the third one. Her tests are super easy if you actually study for them. Exactly like the study guide.

This is how I think the ideal professor should be. She is extremely fair and anyone can pass if you put in the effort. Class includes about 10 reading responses that are SUPER easy. 4 small assignments, a Language Observation, 2 exams, and a 3rd optional exam that can boost your grade up if you do well on it. I would take her again in a heartbeat

SHE IS THE BEST. Lectures are interesting, read book for club plus few questions, film response, few guest speakers, interview parent, simple article review, case study, optional exam 3 online. Exam 1 &2 are in class with multiple choice & free response. Very sweet and caring. Actually cares about students opinions and feedback so talk with her.

Easy professor to get a upper division requirement. This class had 1 response each week and a group would present each week. Mostly discussion. 1 final paper at the end of class and its very easy to do. shes not strict on grading. Very funny and caring professor. attendance required. I loved this class, i wish she taught classes in my major.

Jessica is a respected and fantastic teacher. Her tests are in-person and extensive, but her lectures really make you learn the information. If you print the study guide ahead of time and fill it out during lecture you'll be fine. Her lecture lines up perfectly with her tests, shes got this down to a science. Shes fun and hilarious too.

This fall semester I have had the privilege of having this prof for 2 courses, CHDV 131 and CHDV 145. In CHDV 131, there were exams, lectures as well as weekly reading responses and more. For CHDV 145 there were no exams and guided responses, but there was a position paper and group presentation. This prof is amazing, organized, and interesting.

I loved the organization of this class. I knew exactly what Martinez expected out of the assignments and felt prepared for her exams because of her lectures. You can tell she deeply cares for her students. Excellent professor and learned a lot of valuable information about language!

Jessica is by far one of the best professors I have had in my college career, as well as the Child Development program at CSUS. She is very knowledgeable, interesting, and professional. Jessica is a fantastic professor and teachers her class very well. I had to study really hard for her test but got an A on the first two and didn't have to take the final. Weekly assignments are simple. Attendance is required as assignments have to be turned in while in class.

Professor Martinez was wonderful I would love to take another class with her in the future! A bit on the heavy lecture side, but it's beneficial for the assignments and exams (only 2!) has an optional final if you're not passing the class. Gives an essay at the end of the semester that's basically based on everything covered in class.

The most organized professor I've ever had. She gives VERY clear instructions/expectations so you'll know exactly what she's looking for. Lectures are quick and split up so they don't get boring. One of the best professors I've had! She was so understanding. Accepts late assignments within 2 days. Provides clear instructions & her lectures are split up into small videos so it doesn't get boring or much time to complete. Her exams were open book and easy as long as you watch her videos. We had 7 guided responses! 4 were mini 2 page essays and 3 were slideshows! She grades easy too and the top is were interesting. For being a WI and summer course the work was fair! About 1-2 assignments due every week. The lectures were also super infesting and she spoke about personal experiences to connect us to the topics. No quizzes.

Professor Martinez is very organized. Her lectures are engaging and she breaks them up into short 10 to 30 minute videos. A discussion and assignment due each week. She provided a study guide for midterm and final which was clear and concise. It included slide numbers for powerpoints. All the short answer questions were on the study guide.

Super understanding and makes sure all students know that they are cared about. During this semester you were able to miss two weeks without affecting your grade, no questions asked. Assignments consisted of reflections, reading responses, easy quizzes, and making an online bookshelf of kids books.

Weekly short responses to readings, you do half of them as outlines and the other half in paragraph format. Very easy grader, just finish your work. The group presentation is just making the slides, no speaking necessary. Class is discussion based, not lecture based. Funny and understanding professor. Take this writing intensive for an easy A+.

Rate My Professor ratings dont lie. And neither does this one. Professor Martinez is absolutely sweet, very down to earth, caring, and understanding. 3 credit course over summer 6 weeks. Met up once per week, 1 assignment each week, no assessments nor presentation. We had to watch videos provided and write about them. Did an interview and essay.

She is the Best!! I taken her for 2 other classes. She very understanding and listens to her students. This class was discussion base. 1 group presentation but you do your own work and presentation is just done on SWAY(kinda like power point) your not actually presenting in front of class/people. If you can get into her class TAKE HER.

Professor Martinez is super sweet. she takes attendance but shes very understanding if things come up. you can turn assignments through email if your not able to attend class. overall i just loved her.

Took her for summer class, she is super fun and nice to talk to. Her class is super welcoming and she's really open up to her students. However her short memoirs aren't short its around 15-27 pages (interesting to read). We also get into small groups to discussed classwork.

One of the best professors that the University could have. She is excellent at giving feedback and comments when needed. The textbook is ideal for children's literacy and ELL students. Supplemental readings are easy to read and short. She cares for her students and always finds ways to help them when they need a break.

Love this professor, really informative and really resourceful on her teaching! Make sure to read and get ready to talk to your group peers. We get into a lot of group activities and group work for this class, 7 reading assignment due online, 3 Book Club assignment, and a community project paper. SO GREAT! SO PASSIONATE! She loves to give you resources for around the school too. She cares about us a lot and she is so passionate for chad. I enjoyed TopHat (her version of Kahoot). She made the class very enjoyable. I would take her again!

Jessica is the best professor I've ever had! I have taken her three times (CHAD 131, 137, 156). It's clear that she loves what she does and finds joy in educating her students. Each lecture was extremely engaging and she was very personable with her students. If you have the chance to take any of her classes I highly encourage it!!

Really kind and helpful. Loved her lectures, very informative. Uses tophat as a way to keep us on track and it is very helpful. Mostly discussions posts, two exams, then the final linguistic assignment. Fairly easy if you have kept track and taken notes all semester long.

She cares so much about our well-being and wants us to succeed in life. I admire her lectures and how she let students be more anecdotal when speaking about specific topics, such as teacher-child relationships and parenting styles. I recommend her 100% for any class you want to take that has her as a professor for one section.

Professor Martinez is great - really cares about students and makes the class engaging. The workload is manageable, and unstuckstudy was a helpful tool for preparing. Definitely recommend taking this class if you can.

Her class is easy, just make sure you do the discussion posts and do not miss more than 4 days where she does top hat and you will pass!

Genuinely such a wonderful professor, has such an obvious passion for what she does and its refreshing. Im not usually one for lecture heavy classes but I had a great time sitting in her class. Easy work, easy grader.

AMAZING TEACHER! I find it hard making it to class but I did not miss one from hers. She actually teaches with passion and makes her classes personal. Great person to talk to outside of class as well. Very understanding and her assignments and lectures are so interesting and engaging. Wish I could take her again!

The professor and her assistant were both very kind. The feedback I was given to improve in later assignment was always helpful. Attendance is graded, and a memoir must be purchased. There are discussions, book reports, and article annotations. The late policy is up to 48 hours, the class is very passable if you stay on top of your work.

Professor Martinez was one of the best professors I ever had! She has a great personality and she really loves her job. I am not one for group work and discussions, but I surprisingly enjoyed it! Do your work and you will get an easy A. Take her for CHAD 156, you won't regret it.

She. Was. AMAZING! I loved showing up to her class. You can miss a lot of class, but she is an amazing professor and genuinely cares about what she is doing and her students. Decent amount of reading for a book club assignment, but it was never super difficult. I can't recommend her enough

She's super kind and friendly, and super understanding. She def wants her students to be successful and feel emotionally supported. Read lectures on your own time since it's a hybrid course, and think of class time more as collab time :) take her! felt bad for students who'd skip her lectures bc she's lenient...go support her pls she's too nice
