Pretty good class, explained each topic thoroughly,it really helped helped me because I'm a hands on person,and the lecture were not boring

One of my favorite teachers. She's young so she's a little snobby, but really cute ;). Would love to take a class with her again if I actually cared about Biology.

For someone just out of high school, she was a fantastic professor, very laid-back. Although she had a tendency to go a bit slow with lectures, she was very fair. If we didn't quite make it, she would move a test or whatever. Just be careful about deadlines since part of the course was online. Other than that, I would highly recommend her.

Mrs Matheson was an awesome teacher. She gives notes out for every chapter, gives easy extra credit opportunities, and drops the lowest test grade. Very laid back and made biology fun.

If I put in the time to study I was rewarded with a good grade. If I didn't then it would definitely show up on the test. I would not say that her class was overly hard, but you do need to put in the time if you want to achieve a good grade. Make sure to do all of the extra credit and you will pass.

She was a good teacher for the short time we had, but a hard one. She helps you if u send her a email, but the exams are tricky because the essays are long. I would use another teacher unless you want to put in the work.

She is awesome. Mrs. Matheson was very kind, helpful and was respected by all of her students. She made class fun and very interesting. It's just lecture for one class then the next class is a quiz with a lab. You do actually have to do the work for this class but it's nothing you can't handle. I absolutely recommend her!!

Good instructor, but does not 'hand hold' so if you are a brand new student, you need to be ready to stand on your own feet. She gives extra credit, which can be very helpful. Tests are a bit hard, but fair.

Needs better study guides for the exams

I felt Ms. Matheson was very clear about assignments and expectations in the class. She also gave very comprehensive examinations, however, she did give you a good idea of what to study so that you would be prepared. She also replied in a timely manner every time I attempted to contact her with a question.

Tests are hard, but overall an awesome teacher and interactive class. Gives a lot of extra credit options and participation grades just for being there.

Absolutely loved taking BIO 101 at home. Professor Matheson responded to my emails quickly and was very helpful. There were a few labs in the kit that had instructions which were unclear or did not have required amounts of material. When I emailed her this information she was grateful for the information. Wonderful class. Wonderful professor.

She was helpful in communicating and emailing. She was really organized and new a lot about the topic. Labs were a little confusing and sometimes didn't make sense but overall a good class.

Helpful, very efficient in grading and returning of assignments, humorous also, which is a good quality for any teacher to have.

She is a good teacher who is always there to help students. I have been sending lots of e-mails and she'd always responded to me quickly with a clear explanation. I was first surprised that there are almost 80 questions worth 150 points for online course but I was able to do good enough in this course. I recommend this course and her as a teacher.

Professor Matheson was very clear with her expectations. I think it could not hurt to be a little more understanding of technical issues that can happen. I think it is a bit harsh to give someone a zero when they clearly completed the assignment but had issues submitting it.

She was a very helpful teacher. She gave everyone a chance to pass her class.

Prof Matheson was cool. She had a lot of nice class material for all students to access, including key chapter notes. She encouraged critical thinking and she encouraged class participation. My only real gripe about her class was the fact that I often time's had trouble paying attention to the power point presentations. They felt rushed and boring.

There is a LOT of work involved in taking a biology class online, but Ms. Matheson was always available to help. She sent out lots of emails and reminders about due dates. Expect to get exactly the grade you work for. Also, we had four exams, and each of them was very challenging. She's a good professor, but get ready for a ton of work.

She is a great professor. She provided lots of useful information on her blackboard page. She covered all the test material and made sure her students had all the resources needed to achieve a good grade. I highly recommend this professor.

I really enjoyed having Jessica Matheson as my teacher. Her course is definitely tough and you definitely have to study if you want pass. But what I loved the most about having her as my teacher is how she was willing to answer any questions for you and was very clear in her answers. She is an amazing teacher and very good at what she does.

I loved the class, you should read over all the labs before you do them . She is really helpful and gets back to emails as fast as she can! The textbook will save your life when it comes to the quizzes.

I honestly struggled in this class, but simply because I didn't put enough effort. Also, I never really understood Biology to begin with. But Mrs. Matheson was a great teacher and easy to understand. She provided more than enough information for us to use to pass this class. This class you will have to work for your grade, but what class doesn't?

Lots of extra credit opportunities added. The exams are tough, especially because of the essay questions. NEVER skip them. She was always willing to work with me though and gave me feedback and advice when I felt confused or had an issue.

If you can manage to keep yourself to a strict schedule of when this and that is due then you'll be able to pass her class, but I HIGHLY suggest you study in advance for tests! Theyre very long Very weighty and Very hard.

Mrs. Matheson is a great teacher. She sets very clear expectations. As long as you follow the syllabus and assignments, the class will be a breeze. I love the extra credit opportunities!

Not a tough professor. Easy to pass class as long as you do the work and read the chapters. Tests are a little tough so make sure you do the study guides. She also posts "essays" in advance so you are prepared for tests. Quizzes are open book, however they are a bit challenging so make sure you read before taking them!

She is a very professional and knowledgeable professor. All serious biology students must take her classes. Alot of work but if you want to learn this is the course. I would take any course she teaches.

This class was very informative. You learn not only by reading the text, but by doing interactive labs and watching entertaining videos. This class is challenging, but anyone can be successful in completing it.

Great instructor! Her curriculum builds upon itself. So you really have the opportunity to understand the material. She gives a weeks time (with minimal other coursework) to prepare for exams and plenty of extra credit. There is a lot of work, but if you stay focused, keep up with the curriculum, and study... you will pass. I would recommend her!

I feel this professor is a great teacher, the materials are well organized, and everything is put into folders and arranged by weeks. You get review questions and a quiz every week but I think they are great review. The exams are very tough but, if you study the material given you should do fine. The labs were tough but she was willing to help.

She is a very nice professor and gives you great feedback. If you study for your exam you will pass.

There was an over whelming amount of information covered on the exams.

She was very helpful, however, she expect a lot of work. If you want an easy class this is not the class for you. I learned a great deal, fun but she wants you to work for it.

BIO Lab is not a class that can be done easily online, not through any fault of the Prof.

Great instructor. Readily available to help if needed. Communicates with class throughout the semester.

She was extremely helpful and responded to all my emails with good advice and suggestions.

Exams are very difficult, must study before hand. Labs can be a bit difficult to understand as the course is online, however those are run through a third party company so not necessarily the professors fault. Overall a good professor.

If memorizing buckets of material for tests isn't your thing, this isn't the class for you. The study guides for the tests are basically the heading of each paragraph/sections within the chapters and the vocabulary words in bold. It is up to you to find the relevant information and commit it to memory. Quizzes are timed and difficult, as well.

Helpful teacher

GREAT Professor! Willing to help anytime. She explains exactly what is expected. She cares about her students and wants us to succeed but does not just pass out grades. You will have to earn them. I have learning disabilities and it takes me much more time. It's a lot of material but she spaces it out to allow you the time to study for exams.

Great professor. She is one of those that care more about you learning the material for the sake of learning rather than just passing a test so she is good about explaining concepts very well. Very nice. Very fair. As long as you do the reading, contact her if you are having trouble, and put in the work you will do very well with her.

Combined online lecture/in-class labs. You have to do the labs. Very up front, and you really get all of the information you need to do well in the class.

Great professor! Micro is a lot of work, but if you want an A, then just study! Loved the labs, she always had everything prepared. She also gives great notes back on your weekly outlines you have to submit, take heed in her responses, it's what she is looking for for the exams! Overall, fantastic and gave me a better appreciation for micro!!

Matheson is an amazing professor! She was very calm and caring and always made sure everyone understood what was going on in lab. The information is straight forward and the test questions are the open note quizzes she gives. As long as you complete you're work and show up to lab, it is not hard to get a good grade in the class.

Professor is amazing and lab is super fun!!! I took the hybrid course where lecture was online and lab was in person and me and my lab partners all got A's

Professor Matheson is by far one of the best professors at GCC. She cares about her students & is very laid back. She makes sure all instructions are clear to everyone. I had the hybrid class so lecture was online & lab was in person. I would defiantly recommend her!!

I LOVED this professor. Very clear on what was expected and clear on instructions. Always there to help! She answered all my emails quickly and caught me up with work when I missed. Make up exams are available if one was missed. She is awesome with everything and knows her stuff.

I am currently taking her hybrid class. All homework is due online on Sundays but she doesn't grade them until Wednesdays or Thursdays so you still have time to turn things in. Homework takes up time but is VERY easy to maintain. Only days you go into the class is to do the labs and they aren't hard to do at all.

Great professor! She makes a difficult class much more bearable. Questions for exams come word for word from the quizzes and study guides (which she gives you the answers to). Study those and you will do fine. Emails back fast and gives good feedback.

I am currently in her BIO 150 online class. Do not take this class if you do not have lots of time to study/work. There is a TON of work involved in this class, but if you put in the effort you will do very well. As long as assignments are completed according to the rubric, you will receive full credit. If you have lots of time, you will succeed.

Easiest science class ever. You have 1 quiz and 1 reading assignment due at the end of the week. 4 tests total. Each test is composed of the exact quiz questions that you turn in the week prior. She does lots of extra credit and always wants to help. People who say she is a lot of work are exaggerating. It impossible to do poorly in this class!

She was super nice! Microbiology is never an easy class. People who dont get good grades just dont try. Use the multiple choice quizzes she gives to your advantage and study them and youll be fine! Lots of extra credit and the labs are fun to do.

I took the 5 week accelerated asynchronous course, and It was a lot more manageable than I thought it would be. She understands that it's a fast paced class and the class materials/learning aspect was really fun!

Looking back this class was not that hard but of course, when you are in the class it seems so hard, especially a 5-7 week online science course. While in this class I always studied at the last min because of my anxiety and depression but I still made it out with an A. I am not a science person at all. The course workload was decent.

She is funny and easygoing, but one should be prepared to spend a minimum of 4 hours on lab reports and overnight studying because she checks notes at the start of each chapter. She provides exam revisions that allow you to receive half of the points from corrected answers added to your exam grade.

Prof. Matheson is a blast to have! She's funny, witty, and always willing to help. I took her in person lab and online lecture. Lecture is a lot of reading but the quizes help make the test easier. Her short answer questions can be tedious, however, you know in advance what her questions will be. Labs are fun and the UNK project is incredible.

A LOT OF WORK! But, with that being said, it's not super difficult work, just time consuming, but you actually learn in her class! She basically gives you the tests before hand. Memorize the practice quizzes and short essay questions and you'll ace every test. Plus she offers easy extra credit. I highly recommend this class
