New prof, but she's great. Go to class, print off her lecture outlines, take notes, and then study, the A/A+ is yours. Very straight forward. Makes the class entertaining, fun, and, well, she's really hot.
Prof. Rourke speaks very clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. Her explanations are crystal clear.Very helpful during office hours - always willing to chat! Tests were fair, overall great prof. Also played lots of great SEINFELD clips. :)
Highly recommended! Classes were interesting and I WANTED to attend. Tests were fair (combination of MC and Written). She basically gives away questions during lectures; lectures aren't like other UVIC courses (not dry and dull). Warning: be patient as Rourke is TOO nice and listens to the students who overshare + got something to say EVERY time.
Doctor Rourke is an exceptional instructor. She is approachable and does very well to keep students' attention. She fills the classes with relevant and often hilarious media to explain social psychology concepts. The assignments were rather creative, including the task to be non-conformist for a day and document the results.
Prof. Rourke is great. If you're a Psyc major, try to take at least one class with her. She is so prepared, thorough, fair, and understanding. She's a great lecturer, very clear. Relates concepts to real life. She goes the extra mile for students and puts effort and thought into her job. I couldn't have asked for a better prof.
i absolutely LOVED jessica. her lectures are super clear and to-the-point and she is so understanding, an awesome person too. go to her classes, take notes, and you'll ace the course for sure! i would love to take more courses with her but she only teachers 331. boo
Adorable, awesome young professor. Really made me interested in the material. Lectures could get boring but the occaisional video clip and class exercise helped.
Great teacher, the only down side is she doesn't teach more classes
One of the best professors I have had in University. An excellent lecturer and she integrates examples with youtube videos into her class which make it a lot more interesting. A genuinely good person and extremely helpful and caring towards her students. Teachers like her make the stress of University tolerable!
Like previous students I agree that Jessica is amazing! One thing I didn?t appreciate as much was the textbook which the lectures follow very closely. You will learn a lot about how we make mistakes in our everyday lives and it is exciting to see how stupid us humans are yet depressing. I just think there is much more to social psych than this.
The lectures follow the textbook very closely, don't bother buying the text - just go to class. Prof Rourke's research of forgiveness is fascinating, and her lecture on it is the best one of the entire class.
Jessica is great. She's dedicated to student success. Succinct lectures which mirrored the text almost identically. Still fairly new to lecturing, so she holds back a bit. I'd take another class with her, no doubt.
Great young prof. Gives great examples and makes the class interesting with movies and stories. Info is clear (gives you pre-done notes, way awesome!!). Would take another course with her anytime.
Great professor. Very interactive classes. Finds creative and fun ways to engage students. Interesting material. I strongly recommend taking social psychology with Jessica!
Best prof I have ever had. I highly recommend social psych with Jessica. Whether you are a psychology major or not, this was the best class and best professor I have ever had at UVic.
When the first day I came to class Jessica said there will be an assignment due next class which was tomorrow. I thought Crap! She's going to give me a hard time this semester. The truth is I talked to her after class she gave me an extension immediately. One of the best professor, she really cares about students. and intersting class as well!
Best prof ever! Super nice, clear lectures, fair exams, very helpful and makes class actually fun to come to! It's classes like these that remind me why I'm at university!
Great prof! Super nice, funny, and helpful. Got me really focusing on social psychology for my degree.
Jessica is one of the most enthusiastic, interesting professors I've had. I wasn't too interested in Social psyc before but I LOVE it now. Because of this class I want to take more social psyc classes and hopefully even more with Jessica. She is a MUST have prof. You'll be laughing and engaged in her lectures.
Great teacher and person. Super interesting course. Fair and Very approachable. I highly recommend taking a class with her!
Great Prof, great person. Loved her. Her teaching assistant made a brutal mistake on our assignments and only me and another girl pointed it out to her. She spent 20 of her own hours remarking 130 assignments due to this.
Jessica Rourke is absolutely amazing. This professor will work with you and help you due to her natural empathy and understanding. I highly recommend her. Thank you Dr. Rourke.
Dr. Rourke is an outstanding prof. Highly recommend!!
Jessica Rourke is a dynamic instructor! She's open to progressive evolution and matriarchy energy that needs to be balanced in our society someday...? Her classes were vibrant, touching, humanitarian, innovative, creative with videos and guest speakers. She is truly a spiritual and intuitive woman that nourishes your heart and brain simultaneously.
One of the best psych profs at UVic! Highly recommended.
Jessica is an amazing professor! She is kind, caring, fun, and hilarious! Her lectures are super interesting and she always makes them applicable to real life or shows videos that relate and strengthen your understanding of the concepts :) Her grading criteria is clear and she is very fair. It is not hard to get a good grade in her class!
GREAT PROF. most of your mark comes from attendance, class presentation, and a paper. She is very understanding and often grants extensions. Lots of class discussion and she is very engaging. would recommend!
Jessica is by far the best Psych professor I've had at UVic. She truly cares for her students and wants everyone to do well. When she notices a student struggling, she is open to giving extensions. I love her teaching method as well, as her lectures are the perfect mix between fun and educational. Definitely recommend everyone to take her class!!
Jessica is hands-down the kindest professor I've ever had. She really takes the time to make sure you are doing well and that you are clear on the material. Her class was graded on 4 fairly simple papers and 3 exams. All the notes are posted so attendance is not mandatory, but it does help to hear her go into detail on the topics.
Jessica is an amazing professor! Kind, funny, knowledgeable, and gives great feedback! I have her for a condensed summer class so there are daily readings, however they are all very interesting, and she is great at letting you know which aspects to focus more on for tests. Classes aren't mandatory, but definitely useful. One group project but easy
I took my first university class with Jessica. Which was incredible but also set the bar really high. She is not only a brilliant prof, but an amazing human being who approaches knowledge as to how it can be used to better humanity. she genuinely cares for her students and wants you to do well and will do everything she can to help you learn best.
Jessica was a great proffessor! I highly recommend her. I had her for my online Psychology class.
Possibly my most favourite psych proffesor! She is super caring and wants people to learn. There were no unfair surprises on the tests and she was clear about what she wanted on the papers. Would take any class with her!
Amazing prof! Participation in class counts towards your grade, so showing up is mandatory (if you want those marks). Very caring and thoughtful, helpful, respectful, fast at responding. Would absolutely recommend and would love to take another course with her!
Jessica was an amazing and very caring professor. She made my first PSYC course a very good experience. I would say she's a tough grader but considering the course content isn't that hard, I think that's fair. I would recommend attending all the lectures since the slides can seem a bit sparse. Overall, I loved the course and would recommend it.
Wonderful professor, very passionate about what she teaches. She always makes sure the class is ready for tests, doing review and going over what will be covered. Very nice lady, very clear about her expectations and fair in her marking.
Worst course ever. Never have I heard of so many students disagree with and become disappointed by a prof. Didn't teach us the entire semester. Taught ourselves through presentations. 20+ students actually banded together to protest an assignment, outlandish requirements, will tell you that ur presentation was perfect, then will give you an A- MAX.
I was shocked to read the rating below me because Jessica was such a great for psyc 375. I found assignments were marked super hard but she was really caring!
Jessica is an amazing prof. You can tell she really cares about her students. Her lectures are engaging, easy to understand, and really informative. For 431H, there is an insane amount of group work (which is disappointing because it means less time for her awesome lectures), so be aware of that if you take a seminar course with her. Overall great!
As a guy who gets above 90 in all classes. she made it way too obvious that she marks based on what she wants for a class average. I know what my grade will be before handing in the exam. marks will be taken off for no reason to not let me get above a certain percent. It's too predictable and unfair IMHO.
Jessica put a lot of thought into the course. Her assignments were in-depth, and she relied heavily on class discussion which I think is really helpful. However, some of the projects I felt were more about creativity than actually learning something - didnt learn anything from the final project. Otherwise she was great!
Dr. Rourke is one of the most caring professors I've had at UVic. The only thing I would note is that she is a hard marker and I disagreed with a few of my marks. That being said, I really enjoyed this course and learnt so much about myself. How she handled the COVID situation said everything to me, she truly cares about her students!
Really hard marker, and her grades never match her feedback. Says you did really well on a project and doesnt grade accordingly. The class was 95% group presentations, and I didnt learn anything from this class. I was really disappointed. She is kind and caring, but just didnt do a good at teaching this class.
Jessica is amazing at explaining concepts in a simple, engaging, and fun way. She explains, shows videos, and most lectures involves a discussion. But, she is not clear about where students loose marks in exams, and projects. A lot of marks get subtracted without an explanation, and when confronted, she adds a few marks.
Jessica was a nice prof but unfortunately this was my second time in a year experiencing a prof who marks based on what they want for an average. I don't blame her as I know she is likely told to do this, but as a student it's really unfortunate. The university makes this practise way too obvious and there was a lot of fishy things with the marks.
Dr. Rourke had a wonderful and refreshing attitude in the classroom, she was kind and respectful and was clear in her lectures. BUT, she is an extremely tough marker, often giving feedback that doesn't match the grade the gives. She was very organized which I always value in a prof, but the marking made me want to never have her again.
Good Prof, heavest course load I have ever taken though
Took this course online during covid-19 and Dr. Rourke was amazing! The course was set up with majority pre-recorded lectures posted on Brightspaces which was super nice for a flexible schedule and they were very informative and at most were 25 minutes long. We had optional live lectures every Friday and were super good for exam reviews. Love her!!
I had her (and Chim and Kobelsky) and it was such a good class. They did a great job transitioning online and I would definitely recommend this class. It's quite heavy if you're looking for an elective but it's super interesting if you're into psych!
She is always super positive and friendly. The course is interesting, but very heavy with lots of reading for an elective.
Overall, easy course to get an A in, but Caution Critical Thinking Topics, Oh boy. These are marked by TA's who take APA extremely seriously. CTT's themselves are not difficult, but getting full marks for APA is seemingly not possible. Accessing feedback is also a pain. Tests and quizzes were an absolute breeze but brush up on your APA, folks.
This was one of the best professors I have ever had at UVic. Jessica is incredibly warm and welcoming and gives fascinating lectures. Her professional experience in restorative justice allows her to provide added insight on the course material and makes everything that much more engaging. Take this class, you won't regret it.
Specific with her feedback. Every assignment required an essay. She was very approachable though seemed to have me pegged in a grade bracket no matter what. I did reasonably well, but it was nearly impossible to get over a certain grade. The assignments had word limits, & feedback always said to add more detail. Would not recommend.
Jessica is very kind and approachable. The class was super easy, at least on line. She uploaded her slides before lectures (which weren't mandatory), and also recordings of the lectures afterwards. Lots of reading but the textbook has a lot of photos.
Dr. Rourke's lectures are a pleasure to be in. She makes them fun and engages the class throughout. She clearly knows the material through and through, and gives clear and direct explanations to what can be otherwise fairly abstract concepts. She also has given lots of opportunities to make good grades through easy course-work
I loved Professor Rourke as a teacher, she was very human, in the sense that she often would change small things around and spoke to the class as people at the age we were. I also really appreciated that she made exams non-cumulative because she believed as students we shouldn't have to memorize months worth of material, highly recommend :)
I love this woman.
Incredibly caring and accommodating. Psychology of Forgiveness is the best course I have taken so far at UVic in any discipline. I had issues with group members for a project and she checked in on me the entire way through and treated everyone with incredible respect and consideration.
Dr. Rourke is amazing, she always has super engaging lectures & is very clear when teaching. She obviously loves her job & puts so much work into planning lectures. It is important to read the textbook & she does do iclicker participation marks but I had no problem with it. I highly recommend her to all of my friends.
Dr Rourke was so awesome. She was clear in her expectations and allowed many different opportunities to earn marks in her class. 10/10 would take again
Dr. Rourke was an incredible prof and person. She tried really hard to support her students, and she gave pretty interesting lectures. Text chapters were long and boring, but psyc isnt really my thing. If you do what she asks (which is very manageable) then you will do super well. She marks fairly. I dont love psyc, but I loved her as a prof.
Dr. Rourke is essentially a perfect prof in my eyes. Her class was put together extremely well. Every lecture was engaging, very clear criteria for everything, chances for extra credit, and great feedback as well. I will indubitably be taking more classes with her if I get the chance.
really cares love this women with my whole heart
I absolutely love her.
Dr. Rourke obviously knows what she is doing. Her lectures were amazing, clear, and the assignments gave incentive to read the chapters while also being flexible, allowing you to miss some without it impacting your grade at all. Overall a wonderful, very engaging professor. She had clear slides, and great examples to clarify new concepts. Amazing.
I personally hate psych and find it terribly boring as a subject, but Dr. Rourke is a must if you enjoy psych in general. Very good lecturer, explains stuff clearly, makes it clear what is most important to remember. Super humble and enjoys hearing from students in class. Posts slides ahead of time. Clearly wants every student to succeed.
Love love love Dr. Rourke. Her lectures and explanations are extremely clear and it is clear she cares about her students. Don't skip the Friday classes, they're on the midterms
Excellent prof and great class. I took it as an elective and it was my favourite class this semester. Tons of reading and weekly work. Three midterms, weekly quizzes, and a smaller writing assignment every other week. Overall a lot of work but it wasn't too difficult. The material was interesting, and Rourke made lectures engaging. Highly recommend
Lectures were very well structured and entertaining. Be ready to use the textbook
Jessica was amazing, as a first year course with many freshmen she knew how to keep the material and work challenging while not too daunting, which is a skill that not many professors have. If you have the chance to take her class do it, but be prepared to read.
I had Dr. Rourke this fall and I took the course as an elective to lighten my science course-load. If you're good at memorization and want a straightforward, fair course, this is a great choice. Exams aren't too difficult, but you NEED the textbook. A quick warning that she does not include trigger warnings before diving into sensitive topics.
Dr. Rourke was by far my favourite professor this term! Always super organized and explained the course material in an easy-to-understand and engaging way. However, verrrrrry textbook heavy. Weekly quizzes weren't too bad, and the way things were graded was really fair! But beware the CTTs are a total hassle.
Dr. Rourke's lectures were clear and concise. I took psych as an elective course and am now considering going into it as my major. The exams are fair and not overly stressful, as there is no final exam in this course. Do your reading, and review lots before your exams, and this class should be loads of fun!
Dr. Rourke is the most caring and engaging professor I have had so far. I took PSYC 100 A last sem and she has been so on top of everything so far. Compared to my other profs, she is incredibly organized. I will say that you have to be organized on your behalf as well. Take time to read the textbook and do practice quizzes!
very nice and explains things very well.
She is such a sweet teacher. She seems like she really cares about her students. She creates lots of study tools and great learning content, making it really easy to understand the course
Probably the best professor in my first semester of university. The tests are not that difficult, and the assignments were relatively easy. She is also super sweet, and very good at responding to emails. Would 100% take another one of her classes if I have the chance.
100% recommend Dr. Rourke. Her material was extremely clear and she was very engaging
Best professor at UVIC, she is so cool, so passionate about her work and helping students do well. 375 was such an interesting course and I hope to take more classes with her in the future. people commented on her grading being harsh which I can be, but if you talk to the TA or her they will always look it over and maybe revise.
As a first year student I loved having Rourke as my professor. She was understanding and caring, aware of the challenges many face as new university students. She uses IClicker and the participation from this accounts for 3% of your final grade. I made sure I had her for Psych 100B.
Dr. Rourke is an incredible professor who cares so much about her students. Her lectures are easy to follow and organized. Highly recommend for any psych course-she is the best!
Dr. Rourke is the best professor at UVIC. She is knowledgeable and creates fascinating lectures that pull you in and make you want to attend class. Her tests are very fair and easy to do well on if you read the textbook and take lecture notes. Such an amazing professor and an amazing course
A very great professor! No complaints at all! She is great at teaching and very kind. I would definitely recommend her.
I loved this prof. She does go a little bit fast in lecture but her enthusiasm is unmatched. I would definitely take her class again.
Dr. Rourke is the sweetest prof out there, both super knowledgeable and understanding. So many opportunities to boost your mark (including bonus 4% for research participation), and exams were fair as long as you read the textbook. Course was broken up into three non-cumulative modules with no final. Lectures a bit fast paced but very interesting.
I took the course in the summer. If a professor can make a 2-hour-long, five days a week class seem fun; they can do anything! The course was 22 days long, and I enjoyed it a lot. She cares about the students a lot, and you can see it in class too. Plenty of scopes to make up for bad grades.
She is very engaging and listens to feedback well. She gave two extensions for essays which is very unusual; even if someone missed 1/2 essay, they had plenty of other options. However, Dr Rourke still gave extra time, which is amazing. She also gives nice feedback, accessible during her office hours and after class.
AMAZING LECTURER! She knows he to engage her audience and make lectures fun to be apart of! You will be taking LOTS of notes in this class and reading a fair bit as well. It will not be an issue since lectures provide you with a lot of the adequate information needed to do well in this class. No criticism besides CTTs (pain in the ass).
Jessica is amazing! Her lectures are so engaging and interesting to listen to. She does move quick and you will need to take good notes. Jessica would often do examples in class to demonstrate what we were learning. There is also a lot of reading from the textbook but the course material was so interesting I didn't mind the readings. Great prof :)
Dr. Rourke is an excellent lecturer and very clearly cares about her students' success in Psyc 100A. The workload can be quite heavy, but there are plenty of ways to achieve a high grade if the effort is put in. Exams are fair and not weighted to a degree so that one bad day will ruin your mark in the course. Highly recommend!
Fun class, great prof
Prof. Rourke is an amazing lecturer, her powerpoints slides are easy to understand and she engages with the class. She also teaches some things that are not on the textbook, but as long as you attend her lectures and read what is assigned you will do just fine. Some material are harder to understand than others, but overall an easy course to take.
Posted material, gave good feedback, explained well. Made it entertaining to learn. awesome prof!
Dr. Rourkes lectures are very information heavy and it's important to take notes but they are engaging and fun. She brings tons of energy to every class and always made sure there was a clear understanding of the topics. It is obvious that she cares about her students and their success and she is there to answer any questions that come up.
Dr. Rourke was amazing! Her lectures are extremely well done, however she can go over material quickly, so be sure to read the textbook and slides before. The class was very well put together, and you weren't just being graded on exams. There was no final, and the midterms were very fair. You can tell she wants students to succeed.
This class was very well organized. Lectures are fast-paced but are recorded so watch those back if you missed any info. The exams can be tricky if you don't properly prepare. Make sure you understand terms and not just memorize them. DO THE EXAM CROSSWORDS. I thought the crosswords wouldn't be helpful but they really helped with exam prep.
Many assignments, but Jessica is an amazing and inspiring professor
The most AMAZING prof at UVic. She genuinely cares about the content at work and wants to share that. The course is not stressful and you are not worried about forcefully obtaining the knowledge, you find yourself more interested in the content and actually learn better. She responds to emails insanely fast and goes above and beyond.
Dr. Rourke was by far the nicest prof I have had at UVic. She is super understanding and takes time to make her lectures interesting and keeps the material clear and concise. Some of the questions on quizzes can be a little vague and the CTT's take a while to get the hang of. But other than that, this was the most rewarding class. great class!
Rourke is an amazing professor! Her slidedecks are easy to understand, and she goes aboveand beyond to help you understand the class materials. She posts her lecture videos and gives additional practice materials for exams. Grading is very fair, as long as you keep up with the readings and weekly quizzes. I highly recommend taking her courses!
Jessica is a great prof! Her course is so engaging and she presents the course super clearly. I love her Friday classes because she designed them very interestingly. The course content is quite heavy but I enjoy it as Jessica presents it so well. Love her and her courses. Will definitely recommend to choose it!
Get ready to read one chapter a week. Get things (including sona research participation) done early
The most amazing professor I have ever had! Her lectures contain short discussions to break up the 50 minute classes and her lecture style is perfect and engaging. I'm not sure how she has created the most perfect course, but she did. If you are are lucky enough to get into one of her classes congrats because she is the best UVIC has :)
Very good prof, very good course. A bit heavy on the content and assignments but nothing unmanageable. All midterms and the final is multiple-choice. Rourke is my Ravenclaw queen.
Best professor I have had so far. Rourke makes the lectures interesting and tests are fair. Would recommend to everyone.
Dr. Rourke was a very good professor who also accommodated student needs. She was flexibile with her due dates which was nice if needed. The assignmed readings did help me in this class, but were not necessary. Overall, she was a very good prof.
She is a nice prof, but the students saying she marks based off getting a certain average are absolutely correct.
Dr. Rourke is one of the best professors I came across! She's so sweet and caring and I absolutely loved her way of teaching and being able to hold everybody's attention and having discussions in class to give everyone an idea of where they stand and make them feel more confident and better, would definitely take her class again!!!!
Absolute gem, super good at explaining concepts, easy class to take. The exams are all MC and if you study you'll do really well on them. Would 100% recommend this class to anyone- PSYC major or not
I absolutely loved Jessica Rourke. Her lectures were engaging and even entertaining at times. She was also great at explaining concepts to us and kept the content interesting. Very textbook heavy though, but at least the textbook is easy to read and not at all dry.
If you have Dr. Rourke for psyc 100 you are set. So well organized, prepared, and you can tell she knows what she's doing. This course is incredibly well set up and has very clear criteria. The lectures can feel a bit long however she has that lecturer quality that keeps you engaged.
Was never once bored in any of her lectures, she's very engaging
Professor Rourke is INCREDIBLE! She presents engaging lectures, content that is digestible, straightforward tests, and many assignments so students have opportunities to improve their overall grade. After class, she is approachable and accommodating; I felt that Rourke listened to my concerns and provided comprehensive answers to my questions.
She basically takes everything from the textbook. You could also just go through her slides that she posts instead of going to class. She's a good teacher and very kind, I really liked her lectures when I went. Her voice is very soft though.
Such a kind, and interesting prof. The material was presented incredibly well in this course.
Jessica is lovely! I just honestly found her lectures a little boring, and she does assign a lot of work (though a lot is optional because she only takes top 8 quizzes out of 12 for example) so she gives lots of opportunities to raise grades. Textbook also required + lots of reading, but easy to skim. Would take it again for sure!
Dr. Rourke is amazing, always incredibly prepared for her lectures and attempts to make them entertaining with lots of pictures, videos and class participation. There is no final exam, just exams based on units. The exams and assignments are not easy but definitely manageable if willing to complete all the reading and attend all lectures.
Dr Rourke is very understanding that this is a first year class. She gives a couple assignments but you can do well as long as you look at the rubric carefully. For the quizzes, look at the textbook post-reading questions and before tests, study off of the test prep modules she provides. All 3 lecture tests were also non-cumulative:)
Jessica Rourke is the best prof I have had. She is so sweet, funny, and encouraging. She is the reason I switched my major to psych. She is so passionate and clearly cares about students and her class environment. She is easily available outside of class time which is encouraging.Thank you Jessica for making this such an amazing experience for me!
Loved class with Dr. Rourke. Generally was very clear and the assignments were very reasonable. It sometimes felt like a bit of the textbook material wasn't really touched in class, but keeping up with readings isn't too bad. Tests were multiple choice and very doable.
Jessica Rourke is the absolute best professor I have encountered at UVic. She is so deeply compassionate and understanding of a student's situation. Her lectures are so engaging, I might even say that I am excited to go to her class at the end of my day. She is one of the professors who inspires you to learn more about the topics she teaches.
One of the best professors I have had in my undergrad. Her content is engaging, applicable, and teaches in a way that makes it hard not to learn. Class was interesting as half of the time would be used for discussions. Walking away from this course with more life skills than I learned from any other course. Good grade is easy to get with effort.
This course was so much fun. In general, I find the content in psychology fairly common sense so I didn't need to spend much time studying (I still studied a decent amount but it wasn't difficult content to understand). Dr Rourke made lectures very interesting and engaging; it's clear she cares about the students' experience with the course.
For the most part Dr. Rourke was great. She's a good lecturer, and very friendly towards students. However there was seemingly little to no consistency in grading whatsoever. You could hand in a piece of work and not know if you're gonna get a 60 or a 90. Overall good but pretty frustrating if you're trying to get a high mark.
Dr. Rourke had very clear guidelines for the course, great lectures, would break down what content would be on tests and was overall a very nice person
Jessica was the best professor I had in my first year at Uvic. She makes the course material so interesting by her way of teaching. The tests are fair and all multiple choice and there's no final exam for this class. If you try a bit you can totally end up with an A in this class.
Dr. Roukre is a great professor who is caring and kind. I enjoyed Psych 100 A & B so much because she and Dr. Mugon made the classes interesting and engaging. They prepare you well for tests and provide a good amount of class engagement, which helped me learn a lot.
Best professor I have had. It is evident she cares a lot about teaching, and does her best to help her students succeed.
Ugh I absolutely loved having Dr. Rourke, she is clearly very passionate about psych and her lectures are structured very well. The exams aren't easy but if you even study a bit you should do fine, and there is no cumulative final exam. She posts all materials to Brightspace so you're fine if you miss a lecture.
Dr Rourke is an amazing prof! Her classes are super engaging and I feel like I absorbed a lot in her lectures. I will say that there are a lot of quizzes but they are online and overall quite simple. The tests are quite difficult but as long as you study and do the quizzes, you'll be fine! Would definitely recommend.
beware of the critical reflections
Dr. Rourke runs a great class - lectures are engaging, assignments are reasonable, and exams are doable with proper prep. I found Unstuck study's study tools really helpful alongside the textbook.
Dr. Rourke is an amazing prof, you can tell how much she cares about her students as well as the material. Her lectures were refreshing and engaging, she made material easy to understand and remember. iClicker is used for participation marks (3% of grade) so attendance is fairly important, but I'm pretty sure that's the same for most/all sections.
Jessica had very engaging lectures that provided a lot of interesting examples of how course concepts are related to each other. She is very understanding that it is a first year course and gives lots of advice on how to succeed. The participation and extra credit work she offers is really useful to help improve your grade.
Lectures were very good. Tests and quizzes were easy if you read the textbook and attended lectures. She provides ample review for tests as well. Limited feedback on some assignments. Dr. Rourke is my favourite prof so far.
She is just such an amazing professor
Shes nice, if you're willing to keep up with the textbook you'll be fine. The amount of quizzes was a bit overwhelming but theres lots of ways to improve your grade so it works out
She's awesome, Jessica teaches exactly what is on our quizzes or midterms so be sure to listen. I would have received a higher grade if I actually read the textbook but I still managed to get a B+ because there are so many good opportunities to receive grades. Don't take her reminders for granted.
She is such an amazing prof and is one of the only profs I have had that seems to genuinely care about students and wants them to succeed. Going to all the lectures and putting time into the assignments will let you get an A range grade with minimal studying.
Shes lovely
An outstanding professor gives lot of opportunities to get good grades and has a fantastic teaching style
Dr. Rourke is fantastic. I would recommend Psych 100A and B to anyone looking for an introductory psych class or a random class for credit. The material is super interesting, there are many ways to improve your grade throughout the term if needed, and she just has a fun personality which makes her lectures much more engaging.
Her lectures were very engaging, she really sets you up for success. There's a lot of textbook reading to do, but if you do it before the lectures it'll make your life so much easier. Expectations for tests were clearly outlined and she gave many reminders for upcoming deadlines. You can get up to 3% extra credit by participating in studies.
Lots of ways to get marks and lectures were interesting enough. If you're taking an intro psyc class try and take it with Dr Rourke. Tests were fair and so were the assignments. Quizzes once a week online.
Her lectures were really engaging and I found her very accessible outside of class. Loved the course and I hope to take another course of hers in the future!
She is amazing! I had her for PSYC100A and PSYC100B. She juggles the number of students she has so nicely, and seriously cares about her job and her students. I just had trouble getting good marks on the critical reflections. Also, all tests were multiple choice!!! Lots of reading in the textbook though.
Amazing Prof. Easily the best psyc prof I have had. You can tell she cares about the success of her students. Very approachable and will go above and beyond to help you if you talk to her. Incredibly accommodating for extensions. Cannot recommend enough. Definitely take her classes if you have the chance.
