Mrs. Snoberger's teaching methods are very orthodox. She uses powerpoint slides on a projector and kinda just reads off it like a robot, and some of the questions on her tests are never even on the slides she reads off of. She seems new to teaching, so maybe she just doesn't have much experience yet, but until she does I'd steer clear of her.
Super monotone. Style of teaching is not interesting at all. She knows what she's talking about but the issue there is that we the students don't know what she's talking about.
Don't take this teacher if you can help it. Very monotone, labs didn't have much to do with the class, and tests were way too specific and in depth (way past what was on the powerpoints). Might be new to teaching but could put a little more work into helping students.
This class was okay. She had the ppt and everything on it was on the test. She explains some of the stuff and asks if she can move on to make sure its grasped. The labs were fun, especially dissections. They helped backup what you learned. The best is cell division. Good teacher though.
She seems new to teaching. Can't control the class. No one listens, radio plays. Expect to teach yourself. Not good at giving directions. Will tell you one thing and then flip it and says "I can't remember telling you that?" gets mad if students don't understand, or asks for help with unclear instructions during lab. Take someone else!
The material of this class is awesome, the teacher is a let down. Her class is taught by power points. These power points consist of bullet points as if you already know the material and she gives no deeper explanation. Be prepared to learn it yourself. She does not use time wisely. She does not give the impression she cares about students.
I thought Mrs. Snoberger was so nice! very laid back class. The only thing I did not like was that the study guides and power points had almost NOTHING to do with the tests. The tests were extremely hard.
This was the hardest class of my semester. The first half of class she lectures and the second half is lab. We had 3 lab practicals and 2 lectures. Lab practicals are a mix of lab and lecture. Lecture tests are short answer and you have to be very precise. Be prepared to do a lot in this class. If she cancels class, be ready to do make-up work.
This professor seems to feed off work that has already been done a copy and paste type of teacher. Her lectures are really fast forward giving you no time to ask questions. Seems new to teaching and doesn't care about the students. One of the teachers who makes it impossible to pass her class, all reviews have nothing in common with actual test.
a copy and paste type of teacher. Her lectures are really fast forward giving you no time to ask questions. Seems new to teaching and doesn't care about the students. One of the teachers who makes it impossible to pass her class, all of her reviews have nothing in common with actual test.
The worst teacher I have had. I already struggle as a student as I have a hard time with memorization, but on her test I go through the book and read the chapter, highlight, outline, & make flashcards & I still fail her test. She gets angry if you don't understand something. While her test questions are too in depth & nothing like class discussions
Hardest class I've ever taken. Her exams are extremely hard they have nothing to do with lecture. Her lectures are so quick and she doesn't like helping students.
She is a very monotone like teacher, we know she knows the information well but she still reads everything off of a power point in a bullet form. She provides study guides before every test but whats on the study guides is nothing similar to what is on the actual tests. She acts like she doesn't care about her students; I would not recommend her!
If you enjoy working incredibly hard for terrible grades this is the class for you. The worst science teacher I have ever had that gives you vague lectures and vague study guides but in depth detailed tests. Do not take this class if you actually want to pass or learn anything
HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Take another professor for biology, almost everyone in my class was failing. do not take this class. Tests are nothing like the study guide provided. grades really tough.
No personality and not very nice. Very tough and not at all understanding! Tests are very difficult and she picks apart everything you do, takes points off for everything!! I recommend to definitely find another instructor!!!
She is honestly the worst teacher i ever had...i never failed a class before until i had her as a teacher
Doesnt work with you, jumps through content super quickly and when you dont understand she doesnt get why you dont. Miss some homework? No make ups at all. Kids drop out of this class left and right. Terrible experience.
There is no denying that this professor is knowledgeable of the topic which she teaches. What is a great travisty is her ability to communicate with her fellow countrymen. Her lack of empathy and her inability to accept responsbility for her poor teaching style are reflected by her rating on here. Please do yourself a favor. Don't take this class.
I had her last semester and i would not recommend taking this at all! Shes a nice person but a terrible teacher
I read all of these reviews before I took this instructor, and I still gave her the benefit of the doubt. Please, if youre reading this, take anyone else. Shes a good person, and a terrible instructor. She doesnt go into depth about material and wont go over things for tests. Tests are extremely hard. All of these bad reviews are correct. Run.
Mrs. Snoberger teaches above the class level and expects far too much from the students. She is not flexible, not available outside of class, dislikes questions, unwavering in her homeworks, which there are too many to complete all of them. She moved up due dates multiple times without informing students, and does not accept late work.
So many people dropped her class and it's understandable to see why. Her tests are extremely difficult and cover way beyond what was taught. Lecture notes were all powerpoints and were taught in a way that assumed we knew everything before hand. Your given nonsensical homework with little notice. Terrible experience
Her class is so hard, there is no words to describe it, if I could drop the class I would. Do not take her class! Do not give her the benefit of the doubt, she doesn't care. I missed one assignment and I am failing her class. The tests are hard, and she is a hard grader. I've gotten only A's my whole life and I am failing this class.
I've never rated a professor before, but I felt like I really needed to warn future students. Do NOT take this professor. I have been on the Deans list for three semesters with a GPA of 3.7, but with this class it was ruined. I have never worked so hard in a class for nothing. No feedback, awful grading and just no care for the students at all.
So I retook Bio with a different teacher who I really like a lot because they cared unlike her. This is my last semester at CFCC and she is the one teacher I tell everyone NOT TO TAKE. I have never worker so hard in my time in college for a grade or study so much and I got a D most of our class got C's D's or just never came back.
Good teacher, but not an easy teacher. You will need to know the material to be proficient in this class. But u will come out of the class all the better for doing so.
Tests are on up to 4 chapters at a time, once were already 2-3 weeks into new material. Very hard to retain info. She gets visibly irritated with students when they dont understand. Sent out syllabus 1 hour before first day of class. Doesnt answer emails. Tests are on things never discussed in class. Learned more from google and my textbook.
she gave me an d and i got a 90 or higher on everything in the class
Nice Professor, but grades too harshly. I am straight "A" student and could easily grasp the concepts and memorize this material. However, this was rarely reflected in my graded work. I would advise against taking a class she is teaching if you value your GPA and time spent learning.
Awful, if there was a rating less than 1, she would have it. Doesn't care about students, tests are based on other schools exams and questions. Lacks any interest in students, and does nothing to help you. Its easier to sign up for her class and never attend, you'll learn the same amount by sitting through her boring lectures and labs- BIO111 clas
save your grade, your time and your money and do not take this class with her. mean, disrespectful to students, and a waste of cape fear community college's payroll
This is by far the most difficult professor i have ever had the misfortune of encountering. The tests do not reflect the material covered in class. You have no direction in regards to study material for the exams and most of the time the exams have material that was not even covered in. Terrible.
Hands down worst teacher I have ever had the misfortune of taking. Made me want to drop out of school. Drowns you in hours and hours of lab work, and then you still need to find time to study for her insanely hard tests. Your other grades will suffer because of this class, just for you to end up getting a C at best. She is extremely rude and cold.
Alright, so I'm currently in her class right now. Big mistake. I usually check all of my professors on here before I sign up for classes, and they're usually all pretty accurate. I somehow forgot to check Mrs. Snoberger on here, and wow have I never seen worse reviews. Really regret being in her class. Horrible teacher, doesn't teach well at all.
When I first checked her rating I really didnt believe it like she cant be that bad? Well to put it into perspective my class was completely full at the start, by 3 weeks 75% of the class had withdrawn. Shes absolutely no help at all and exams cover nothing from lecture. This is a lost cause, just take literally anyone but her.
never missed class and yet failed this class. she basically just lectured and didnt explain anything
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! You will learn three chapters, learn three more, then test on the first three. Her in person test and quizzes are near impossible. She likes to be the smartest person in the room and gives off the impression that she doesn't care if her students pass or fail. I've seen her belittle students in front of the rest of the class.
Extremely tough grader. Is only available to answer emails for four days out of the week, after that you're on your own. When you do email her, don't expect much help. Two quizzes every week, not timed, one lab, and one exam every other week. I could go on but overall I definitely would not recommend her to anyone for Biology. Heed these warnings.
This course was one of the hardest courses I've taken. I'm usually a B+ student in science, but this class was really difficult. If you really want a good grade be ready to study like you've never studied before.
This professor is not a communicative one. You are thrown loads of out-dated presentations and labs, and expected to understand them without question. The assignments and tests given were extremely hard and super time consuming, and weren't even relevant to the study materials. SUPER EXCESSIVE and had zero leniency. Would rate lower if I could. 0/5
Awful professor with a terrible attitude. Online course was atrocious with numerous online platforms to log into throughout the semester. Very little guidance regarding virtual labs and no syllabus outlining due dates. Avoid at all cost. She is young but acts like shes been a professor at Harvard for the last 40 years. Oh, and she LOVES busywork
This was the most rude , disrespectful teacher ever . She never responded to emails and then when she did she seems irritated and snobby . I would never take her class again
if you want to cry and suffer and not be considered your feelings or real life events and still make you fail due to your depression then I suggest you don't take this class and save your tears.
This course is just ugh by itself and then you add Snowbooger to the mix. I turned in a project a day late and she graded it as a 0. Doesn't respond to emails unless you send 5 emails over a couple days. Not. A. Fan.
All the online class consisted of was reading out a textbook. Doesn't response to e-mails. No extra credit opportunities. Takes points off for the stupidest of reasons and directions she gives are unclear. Worst professor I've ever had and I don't understand why she is still teaching here. All these terrible reviews go back years.
Not Very good with responding to emails. Does not have clear instruction and confusing due dates.
She is the rudest teacher and has no grace. She takes off an incredible amount of points for small things. Responds to emails in snarky comments.
Absolutely disgusting professor. She will accuse her students of any and everything and does not care to guide or teach them. Many of these students in the ratings have done horrible in her class and if that doesnt reflect on her, then I dont know what does. The online class itself was not hard but SHE is the most difficult thing Ive dealt with.
Very rude and demeaning when emailed simple questions. Gives no extra resources. Lab tests are of slides completely different than what you see and study while doing your actual labs. 8-week class is close to impossible due to no grace and an unreal amount of labs (+5 week)on top of graded homework where you have one chance to answer each question
Throughout this semester in this class I felt as if I was being set up for failure. Professor Snoberger was very rude in her email replies and aggressive. I highly suggest NOT choosing her as your teacher if possible. She has no interest in connecting with her students and helping meet what you would think be the common goal, success.
So rude! PP "lectures" are lazy/unhelpful. Anything written by her is unclear/disorganized. Quizzed on things not taught & there are constant contradictions never clarified. Labs are tedious/grading criteria is insulting. Felt like she wanted us to fail. after seeing it was not just me I'm actually amazed that I even did so well.
Responds to emails and questions with an apathetic attitude. Shows no real interest in teaching, guiding or instructing, Study guides are vague and insufficient. sits at her computer while we conduct dissections with little to no instruction. Unorganized. I have never had an instructor who is so indifferent to the success of her students.
Professor Snoberger is honestly the WORST!!!! She will go weeks without responding to emails, assignments are so confusing and she provides absolutely NO clarification. She is awful, and I would HIGHLY recommend staying CLEAR of her. I am a straight A student majoring in Biology and currently have an F in her class. She is AWFUL! avoid her!!!
I did all my assignments in time but my last one I just forgot to update as I was working and studying for my anatomy exam. I email her about it and she did answer as she said previously that it would be a no. Ok, I knew it before, but she is not understanding at all with our struggles.
Very tough class. Had to do 4 hour labs at my house with little to no help from her. Accidentally mixed up extra credit exam and final exam and she showed no leniency.
Everything the previous students have reported is true. She's the most stubborn, and least helpful teacher. Her "study guides" are mostly just listed terms to define and her PowerPoints are uselessly redundant. Just read the textbook and teach yourself.
Professor Snoberger was one of the best professors I had a Cape Fear. I am now at UNC and Bio 111 and 112 with her were the only ones at CFCC that truly prepared me for the rigors of college. She is a strict grader, but truly wants you to learn and is not afraid of telling you what you did wrong. I would 100% take her again! She taught me so much.
Easily the worst teacher Ive had at cape fear.
She does not allow for mistakes, very strict on every assignment. She does not let you make up late work for any reason
This teacher has been the least helpful individual that I've ever witnessed. She takes points off for the scummiest reasons, hardly ever gets back to you through email, is snarky and sounds irritated every time you go to her for help. For the love of God, its not worth it. Save your GPA, there's so many other amazing bio teachers instead to choose.
Her testing with timed tests is ridiculously done. You have diagrams or answers that have to be typed out and only having one minute a question is crazy barley have time to read the question.
If you ever wanted to know what it was like to have a brick wall teach your class, take any class with Snoberger. She responds just as effectively as said wall and is equally unyielding in every aspect. Her test timer is needlessly short and the inability to view a grade the computer gives until a set date is ridiculous.
She is the TA at UNCW for A&P 2 and she is literally the worst. She doesn't actually explain anything and she gives hard quizzes and is a tough grader, no leniency. She will yell at you to get the class to be quiet and it is very unprofessional. She makes things harder than they have to be. Do not take her as a TA.
Do not take this class under any circumstances. She is terrible at her job and makes no effort to support her students.
Do not take bio-163! Skip ahead to Bio-168 if you can! She is very difficult and hard to communicate with.
Professor Snoberger is a tough grader, and she doesn't always give clear feedback on tests and assignments. The provided study guides are helpful, but I found the midterm as well as the final exam extremely difficult, and the information did not match the study guide exactly. Be ready to study hard in this class in order to get a good grade.
CAUTION!!! please don't take this class. the turtle is more helpful than she is. I used to adore biology until I began her class. Her class is everything this site says it is. The study guides and PowerPoints don't help. The lab midterm didn't have anything to do with what we actually did in the labs.
My favorite professor at CFCC! Her work is on the harder side but prepares you for the next step. I definitely recommend her. Her lectures were fun and prepared me for the biology classes that are in my future.
just don't trust me just don't
Does not provide grading criteria/rubrics and feedback is minimal and unclear. It's hard to do well on assignments because the point reductions are more severe than the error was. With no grading standard this type of arbitrary and fluid grading is enabled. She is not interactive at all with the lessons and communication with her is curt/difficult.
terrible.
Terrible Study guides, plans change quickly and often.
She is probably smarter than a teacher at community college needs to be. This can be difficult for some students because they feel she breezes over things that to her seem obvious. Ask questions and you'll do fine. It also helps to go to class. She is a great teacher if you are willing to apply yourself.
Study for your tests. I cannot stress this enough. These tests are no joke. Do NOT forget your online homework. It counts more than you think. You need the lab manual, but I would NOT recommend the textbook unless you don't retain information well, or cannot take good notes. You'll make close friends. Study with them. PUT LAB SHOES IN YOUR CAR!!!
This class is 50% test grades and all the tests have one lesson in common: critical thinking. Once you assess that and apply it to your studying habits, you will begin to succeed and become a better student for it. Lacking study guides and ambiguous lecture material leave a lot to be desired, so get with good lab partners and plan for study time!
BIO 163 is difficult on its own. If you are not prepared to study or learn then you should not take this class regardless of the teacher. Do not expect to be handed a grade. This is college. She is an amazing professor. Respectful, helpful and nice. You will be successful in this class as long as you attend regularly. I recommend her 100%.
Very nice person, but I registered late for my last semester and got stuck with her being the only option, so it's my fault. She did not prepare for this class like she enjoyed what she did for a living, but expected students to prepare as if she did. No lectures, but has lecture notes on thrown together power points. Put me down: 1 star.
This was an online class, however the teacher acted annoyed whenever I reached out for help or clarification. She was very rude and disrespectful when I questioned a grade. She gives timed lab exams that are one minute per question and require written out answers. The exam does not necessarily follow the study guide. Threatens to fail students
Absolutely do not take this class, unless you want your GPA and mental health to suffer. Jessica was extremely unhelpful and does not care about her students. When my house flooded in the CB flood, I asked for a 12 hr extension because I couldn't get to my lab kit at home. She graded me a 0 for the assignment with no care. Acts annoyed when emailed
PLEASE, listen to the negative reviews. I am a straight A student and can tell you they are true. Be prepared to teach yourself the whole course, there are no lectures. She gets annoyed if you ask questions and she will accuse you of cheating. She directly communicated that she expects students to study 3 hours EVERY day solely on her class. Listen!
The class was difficult but I took a late starting class so it was compressed to 8 weeks. I was expected to spend 20 hours a week on the course alone so I definitely don't recommend doing the late start. Also don't underestimate the labs and lab practicals as one bad grade will set you back for the rest of the semester.
Don't take this teacher! The negative reviews are true! If you think you'll be the exception, you will teach yourself all the material, spend 3+ hours studying every night just completing homework, and struggle when the teacher won't communicate. She is dismissive/annoyed if you need help and will accuse straight A students of cheating/plagiarism.
This professor barely spoke during labs, did not give reviews for tests or explain each week's lab. When asking for help she acted irritated, replying with snarky comments. I'm a straight A student and finished with a C in the class. My lab group was always confused and most people who took the class did not pass. Please don't take this class.
Literally gives timed tests but doesn't give you an adequate amount of time to complete the test. Have to study 20 hours a week but even when you feel prepared, the tests are critical thinking based. I took the class online and it's still HARD. She was the last professor available and now I know why!!!!
Maybe things have changed but I was going into this class terrified because of the reviews. I ended the class with a 95 and it was a breeze for me. The professor was awesome, and I did not have the experience at all like the reviews would tell you. Get ready to study like any other anatomy class. Really enjoyed this class
Worst professor ever! I am a dedicated student that enjoys learning and she has been the most toxic teacher ever. She gives study guides for tests but nothing on the study guide is on the test. Gives quizzes on material not covered or assigned. RUDE and refuses to review. What is the point of a teacher, that doesnt teach....AVOID at all cost
Tests/quizzes are poorly worded; like riddles & heavily graded. There was no clear connection between learned material & labs. To get a good grade, you have to teach yourself from the book at least 2 - 3 chapters ahead of where you are in both lecture & homework. Snoberger is knowledgeable about biology, but feels unapproachable for questions.
