She is really good at explaining the lessons, the notes are just going to class and copying what she writes on the board. She makes the lectures very easy but going to class makes the lessons much more understandable. HW due every week but it's easy after the lecture. 1 quiz every 1-2 weeks but they're super easy. Tests aren't hard if you study.
Such an amazing professor!! Notes are clear and easy to understand. Shes super fun to talk to and so sweet and will answer any questions you have about the material. Homework assignments are not difficult and help a lot with understanding the material. Exams are very similar to the quizzes and she even does a few participation grades!!
She was an absolutely great professor! I would definitely take her again if I had the chance. Work can be a little difficult but if you show up to class and do the online homework you should be okay. Homework every week and quiz but they're not too bad. She is very caring!!
Tripode is the nicest professor ever. She truly cares about your success and understanding in her course. She is young, and went to A&M, so she was in our shoes once. I 100% recommend her, and am taking her again next semester for 142.
New to teaching on the collegiate level, but she really cares about her students and tries to make the class as painless as possible. Tests are entirely free response but not any more difficult than the notes you fill out in class. Weekly quizzes on Fridays are easy. Just show up and halfway pay attention.
pretty chill prof, you learn some good math
Great professor! it was her first semester teaching so I didn't know what to expect and was little nervous but she was Great! As long as you study the material she gives you can pass this class.
Tripode taught her first semester at TAMU in fall of 2019 and did an amazing job. Her notes were clear and effectively taught the information. Her tests accurately portrayed the information discussed and lectured over. I did not study once for this class and walked away with an easy A.
She cares about students but is still new at teaching. She isn't sure how fast to go in lecture so she goes super slow and you zone out. Sit in front row or two because she will talk to you before class and get a personal relationship with you can ask if you specifically understand. She doesn't really connect with people in third row or back.
She cares so much about her students. If you don't understand something you can ask her in class or go to her office hours(which she has plenty of).Occasionally class can get a little slow when she re-explains a topic, but overall I would HIGHLY suggest taking Tripode!
Literally the sweetest prof at A&M!! I switched into this class during add/drop week from a different prof and it was the best choice I've ever made! She cares about her student's so much and is great at teaching the material. TAKE HER!!!!
Ms. Tripode is such a sweet professor! Sitting close to the front, she really engages with you and tries to know you! She takes everything step by step and really wants to make sure you grasp the concepts. Calculus isnt always easy but shes always there to help and very responsive!
Tripode might be my favorite professor at tamu!! She is new at teaching, but she is extremely organized and thorough in her lectures. She makes calculus simple! There is weekly homework but that is every math class. If you show up and take notes and do the reviews before the test, you will be fine. She is also the absolute sweetest and kindest!!
She's really chill, super nice, great prof and at teaching but math is hard. she gives her best to help you understand and is very welcoming in office hours
Definitely one of the best professors Ive ever had at Texas A&M so far. Would recommended her to any student taking MATH142.
Professor Tripode was very sweet and helpful. She made lectures and material easy to understand. There was a lot of homework on Webassign, but if you can get through that then this is a great class.
Ms. Tripode's class was awesome! She teaches a tough subject but makes it very bearable. She tries making the class fun. Not too much homework in this class. We only had 1-2 assignments per week. I would definitely take this class again if I had to!
Tripode is a doll!!! She makes calc so simple. She makes math fun and even showed us in class how she learned how to make a dog out of a balloon. She supported her students throughout COVID and even sent us a tiktok she made to brighten up the situation. 1-2 online hw topics a week.
Prof Tripode is such a good professor. I hate calculus yet I found the class bearable because of her. During Covid, she was super caring and even sent us a Tik Tok. We had about 2 homeworks a week. The tests are pretty difficult so I recommend studying with a partner. Overall, it was a hard class with a great professor.
I suck at Math so I did not do well in the class along with the pandemic but in-person Professor Tripode is a nice lady. She is very accessible and young so she is not intimidating to talk to and cares a lot about her students. IF YOU NEED TO TAKE A MATH AT TAMU TAKE HER!
Due to personal reasons I had to drop this class. However Ms. Tripode is one of the BEST math professors here! She was super caring to all the students during COVID19, and she put all she had in making sure that we were prepared for the tests during this time. Her lectures aren't monotone and she really cares! I'll be taking her next spring!
Ms. Tripode is such an amazing math prof. This was my second time taking MATH 142 (q-dropped the 1st time because it was unbearably difficult) and she explained concepts in a way that made so much more sense. She is super kind and caring and will do whatever she can to help her students succeed. Cannot recommend her enough. She's the BEST.
Ms. Tripode is such a sweet professor. She really cares about all of her students especially with COVID 19. Her tests were pretty difficult, but if you go to the week in reviews and her office hours you should do fine. Try to get the best grade possible on the homework because it is worth a lot and really helped me at the end.
She's super nice. There's a lot of quizzes. She genuinely cares about her students. Love her.
I loved this class. Ms. Tripode was always energetic & interested. She provided notes (for you to print yourself) to follow along in class with her which I loved. Attendance wasn't mandatory but highly encourage you go to class to get the notes. She was very nice & as long as you pay attention, take notes, & do homework, you'll do good.
So I know COVID ruins a lot of classes but taking her math class was a joke. She cannot teach and I was so excited to take her based on her previous student's reviews. If you need to actually be taught and struggle with math... DO NOT TAKE HER. Super sweet lady though
Prof Tripode is a super sweet lady and you can really tell she cares about her students! I tried to get her for Math 142 as well but she filled up for the spring, so sign up for her while you can! Homework can be a little tough but she as well as the TAs are very accessible. 10/10 recommend.
Not a good professor, I had to constantly reach out to the TA's & learned better from Justin Cantu's week-in reviews. She is never available for her students. Had to drop this class because her tests are inconsistent and she expects you to go over extra material on your own time. Strongly advise against taking her. Did everything and still failed.
Pretty great teacher! Always very put together and clear with what is expected. Homework isnt that bad, we did everything on edfinity and it gives you 3 chances for every homework problem so its hard to not get an A in that. A lot of notes, so be prepared to study for the tests. She does a good job of going over everything thats on the test!
Tripode I think is a good teacher and does good with the material. Definitely a solid choice for math 140. Take her if you can. The only thing is she never curves the tests, not even if the class average was lower than other classes that got a curve. But if your final is higher than your lowest test grade than it drops which is awesome.
LOVE her. Class was very manageable and I took it with chem and bio. Really cares about her students, attendance is not mandatory she does post her notes. Homework is not difficult, exams are very fair. Week in review sessions practice worksheets are posted with answers, I didn't even attend lecture or those and just looked at notes and got an A
Overall easy class and very friendly professor, gives some homework problems and drops lowest hw grade. Tests are based on the topics and mostly algebra and pre-cal problems. If you took cal in high school then it would be a easy A. Recommend taking!!!
Is she paying people to leave these reviews? She's average at best. Homework is heavy and no feedback given. She's a nice lady, but I don't think she's mastered the online format by any means. Probably wouldn't take again. She does drop the replace the lowest exam grade if your final is high enough which is nice.
Super nice lady but not the best teacher
Professor Tripode was a super sweet lady, but she made her tests and quizzes tricky for no reason. I thought I was pretty good at math, but my grade does not show that. Edfinity homework is nice because you have multiple attempts. The final can possibly replace your lowest test grade which is really nice.
Dr. Tripode is a great professor. She is very clear in her expectations and will answer emails fairly quickly. While this is a very basic and very easy math class, she outlines expectations well and reminds her students to supplement their studying with practice problems from the book. An overall great professor!
She is awesome! Passionate about the subject, gives multiple examples, and always asks if anyone has questions. Quizzes are a little intimidating because of the 30 minute time limit, but they arent too terribly difficult
Tripode as a person is amazing and super sweet, answers emails quickly and is helpful in class BUT she teaches so slowly. Lectures material is so simple and easy to understand but the tests are more difficult than you would expect. What she teaches and what she tests do not correlate to one another ...3 test, weekly hw and quizzes, and 1 final.
Professor Tripode is the best professor I have ever had in my entire life, I mean truly. She is so helpful, so kind, so patient. I cannot speak more highly of her and Im not even a good student. For real. I cant imagine anyone not loving her as a professor. One time, I reached out to her and she quickly responded with a detailed answer
Mrs. Tripode was truly a great professor. She did not give any extra credit or anything like that, but she taught very clearly. She is always available during office hours and there are review sessions available to help as well. The only reason a person should fail this class is if they do not put in the effort to get help where it's offered.
Prof. Tripode is an angel. Literally hate calculus but I loved her, so I loved the class. She's very clear about what she expects from you. If you go to office hours and do reviews, you'll be fine. You work for your A, but I didnt take calc in high school and I got an A. She responds to emails and is awesome in office hours. Take her class!
The class is hard, I mean it is calculus. But Professor Tripode is so sweet and caring, and will reply to your emails very quickly. There's homework for every unit, but it really helps with the tests. 3 tests and a final, but your final replaces your lowest grade if it's higher. Take her for sure! I've never taken calculus but got an A with her.
Very nice professor, but 83% of the class comes from tests and they're not too similar to reviews or homeworks you have to be extra prepared. She is knowledgeable about the topic so don't be afraid to ask questions. The homework is only 2 assignments a week topping out at 15 questions but they're not too difficult.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Her tests are very hard and nothing like what we had on homework. I went to class early and stayed late. Math is what I was strong in and I ended up dropping the class after making an F on all the exams. I studied everyday after class for 2 hours and used a tutor. Shes a nice caring teacher but she just cant teach.
Tripode was an AMAZING professor, though I am really bad at calculus and ended up Q-dropping the class. She was super kind and is very accessible out side of class and responds well to emails and is helpful in office hours. I struggled a lot with the material but whenever I had a question she would always help with it. Hard class but GREAT prof.
If you're taking calc for the first time like me, she makes it seem not so bad!! very good at explaining things and the homework isn't overbearing. Attendance not mandatory but the tests are kind of hard so I would recommend going to lectures. She's also super sweet!!! Overall great professor for what I would consider a harder class.
She is the nicest prof I've had, but the test are what killed me. She has many students and even though I attended every office hour and would email her, she still couldn't put a name to my face. Test weigh so much that even though I studied a week prior to all, I only passed 1 out of 3 and had to drop the class EVEN W A 100 AVG ON HOMEWORKS!!
Professor Tripode was a great calculus teacher, the only thing that dropped my grade was the tests. They weren't too hard, I just blanked a lot of the time. She is very caring about her students and is always willing to help us out whenever we needed. I highly recommend taking her face-to-face class if possible!!
Prof Tripode explains concepts extremely well and makes math a whole lot easier. You're only graded on homework, 3 tests, and the final. The tests are based on notes she goes over in class. If you miss one problem, it's 5+ points off. Study well! She dropped the 2 worst homework grades and replaced the worst test grade with the final.
She is the kindest math professor I have ever had. She made a scary subject to me seem easy and understandable. I am not naturally good at math, but getting an A+ was a breeze with Tripode. She even invited all her students (300+ easily) to her house for dinner and bible study!!! SO sweet. Take her.
Best professor I've ever had. She made the material fun- you can tell she is passionate about what she is teaching. More than that, she is passionate about her students. She is always there if you're having a rough day and need someone to listen. Cannot say enough great things about her. The class is tough, but study hard and you'll be fine!
Tripode is super nice and sweet. Sometimes she moves very fast, but if you have a decent understanding of math you'll do fine.
I loved Mrs. Tripode as my math professor for my first semester at Texas A&M University. She was easy to get a hold of inside and outside of class. She responded to my emails within 24 hours. I loved how she colored-coded her math that displayed the difference in her work. I would definitely take this course again and recommend others to take her.
Although I did not receive the best grade in the world, I did very much respect her and enjoyed being in Professor Tripode's class. If you take her beware that the tests are extremely heavy and ultimately determine your grade. I would take her again, however I found this to be a difficult class. She is extremely understanding and will work with you
I'm horrible at math so if you're good at it you'll be fine in this class. However, she seemed to go slow over the easy stuff and rush through the harder stuff. Prof Tripode is really nice and helpful her teaching style just wasn't for me.
Tripode is a great lecturer for math, teaches very well. The lab for this class is led by a Grad student, and the lab/recitations suck. Attendance is mandatory, and participation is tracked. Python is involved for some reason, but taught differently than in ENGR102 which is frustrating. Tripode is a good prof however, so you just need a good TA.
She is a really kind professor and I did enjoy her lectures. However, it was the difficulty of tests compared to the homework and notes (and the 80% weight of 4 exams) that made it hard for me to do well. The recitations were also a struggle for me as I had no coding experience and my group was not very cooperative which made class tougher.
Engineering Pre-Cal she's great! Loved it the class was easy to pick up and requires some effort to truly understand the math, but once you do the class is manageable. HW is often about 4 HW assignments per week. She records the lectures so attendance is optional and makes it convenient. The HW and textbook are tied. So go for the Cengage unlimited
Dr. Tripode is an amazing professor, I highly recommend her class. She is super sweet, her lectures are super easy to understand, and she always takes questions. There is quite a bit of weekly homework but it's good practice. There is also not a ton of time to take the exams so study hard for those, I always almost ran out of time.
Tripode is a nice professor, answers questions, emails, etc. However I hated the way her class was taught, lectures were long and boring, would go through the notes way way way too fast, 2-3 hw assignments a week (super long), super TEST HEAVY(final can count as 2 tests because it can drop lowest test grade). TA was legendary, Hoffart is the goat.
She did a great job at explaining the material in a way that was easy to understand. If you go to class, do all of the homework, and do the entire test review then it's possible to do really well in this class.
I heavily recommend her for math 150 as she taught the material with such ease. Test are not hard if you study before hand and participate in recitations/ lecture.
No extra credit but does replace worst grade with final. She posted all of her lectures online and most of the time I'd stay home, nap, and watch them later. If you wont watch them later, dont skip. Great teacher and very sweet person. Only 2 days to complete homework which can be hard if other classes have lots of work.
Professor Tripode was a great MATH 150 Professor and just an overall outstanding math teacher. I learned a lot in her class and her tests were similar to the Reviews she hands out before. Homework is not too bad, and python labs are just a hassle. However, Tests are most of your grade so I focused on those.
Tripode is a nice person, but a bad lecturer. She spends more time talking about babies/personal life than teaching. Her lectures are rushed and monotone. She is very nitpicky and gets irritated easy. She is the opposite of chill when reprimanding (for side conversations, grades, etc). Avoid if you can. She also grades very tough and is a stickler
I thoroughly enjoyed her class this semester! I was very intimidated by bus. calc., but she taught the material extremely well. The course is challenging, so attend class every day and use the resources available! TAs in office hours and MLC were very helpful. She is a sweet person, and I couldn't say enough good things about her and the course!
Math 142 is a hard class in general, but Tripode is a good option! Her lectures are easy to follow, and she takes questions. Go to class because iClicker grades are a big part of your overall grade. Tests are extremely difficult, go to week in review sessions on zoom and do your homework. Extra practice questions are given in the free textbook.
She creates a very positive atmosphere and does such a great job answering class questions. There were lots of opportunities to meet with her or a BMTA. We had at most 3 quizzes a week, we had 3 exams, and one cumulative final. She goes through the material slowly, and there were no points where I felt like I could never understand the concepts.
I missed many classes due to having surgery but even with my university excused absence, Tripode only sent me about half of the missed lectures.
Mrs. Tripode was a great Business Calc prof, and I would take her again. I didn't do too well in this class, but she made the class not horrible and I understood her method of teaching. She is also very accessible and wants to get to know her students! Do the video quizzes or it will bring your grade down.
this class was SO hard for me, that I had to drop it. Although she is a wonderful professor, she answered all my emails quickly and is such a caring and kind woman. She's very easy to talk to if your struggling, if she didn't only teach math I would definitely take another class of hers!
Although this class has a lot of work, it is fairly easy and Ms. Tripode provides a lot of accessible help for office hours everyday. So, if I had a question on a daily assignment, I was just able to pop in really quick and ask, which was very helpful. She is an amazing math teacher, the way she teaches makes it really easy to understand. Take her!
Great professor for Math 142. Make sure you attend class for the iClicker questions. Study the WIRs and notes for exams.
Professor Tripode was a great teacher for Math 142. She is very accessible outside of class and makes sure to provide many options for office hours. She works with students if you communicate with her and will respond quickly. She is very helpful in office hours and cares a lot about her students.
sweet, funny, helpful
She's awesome and so organized. Willing to help and answers questions, very caring. She gives extra credit opportunities in every test. Work hard and do the homework and definitely go to class.
v nice, good at teaching, hw isnt too hard or time-consuming but I do have prev calc knowledge so that might change things, weekly group assignments (MCQ and TA helps out), weekly quizzes (review a bit beforehand and it wont be too bad), study for exams even if u have prev calc experience bc they're tough, random iclicker in class so go to lectures
Spends first 5 min of class talking about her family. Takes forever to grade exams. Recitation group work every Friday, quiz every Monday. Quizes are graded harshly. TA is no help. Crams notes in lecture and sometimes does not finish them. Fills them in and you have to finish them on your own. Does "graded" iclicker questions, barely any points.
Speeds through lecture and does not finish the notes. Homework due every Friday and every Monday. Exams are nothing like homework or lecture notes. Groupwork every Friday and quiz every Monday. TA grades quizzes unfairly and unreasonably and doesn't help when asked a question. Homework is barely part of your grade, entire grade is based on exams.
I love her so much, she really cares about what she teaches and I find she does an amazing job at her. Some of the stuff we learn is difficult but thats not her fault. She gives a groupwork every friday and a quiz every monday (study for the quizzes!!) which can either really help or harm your grade. Go to class! Also there are sometimes clickers.
Lectures are very fast paced but if you have questions and you ask them during lectures she makes sure not to move on until the whole room. She lets us have at home quizzes which most math 140 profs don't let their students do. Tests are simple and like the review just study. Don't skip class unless you're good at math.
I'm not at all a math person, and don't let you not being a math person deter you from taking her class. She and her TA for 147 are generally very fair graders, on quizzes especially. Tests are hard. Don't expect to ace the first exam, as it lets you know what to expect, but improvement is definitely possible with studying! Tripode is a great prof!
Mrs. Tripode is a baller. She is a very kind and caring prof, and her lectures are awesome and easy to follow. She is great at giving you detailed notes, and has tons of office hours that should fit into almost any schedule. Sweet person. 10/10 recommend.
She is a great professor for Math 140!!! She is very clear during her lectures and always answers questions. She also provides office hours which are super helpful when you're stuck on homework. She clearly cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
Not sure if math 140 is just difficult, or if it's her fault. but ive had multiple people tell me that they had to drop because of this prof. her exams would be over things we didnt even learn and she did Iclicker questions that contributed to your grade over stuff you just learned. it was very difficult.
Mrs. Tripode is the sweetest teacher. She was always very clear about her expectations for the class, and made herself and TAs accessible throughout the semester. The class does have a lot of homework, but it is easy and if you have any questions, she is eager to help. Mrs. Tripode definitely cares about her students' performance and wellbeing.
No extra credit. Clickers for every lecture that count towards attendance. Fast-paced teacher
Mrs. Tripode's class had very clear ways of grading and would always make things fair. As someone who has taken AP Calc AB before, it was easier taking calc the second time around. She does iClicker for points randomly so coming to class is necessary. Mrs. Tripode definitely cared about her students and took the time to make connections with us.
Professor Tripode was really good. She cares about her students and wants them to do well and understand the material. This class isn't a blow-off, but if you go to class and pay attention you'll be fine. She does use iclickers in some classes that count toward your grade and you never know when they'll be so you do have to actually attend class.
I do not usually talk to my professors, but Professor Tripode was an amazing teacher. During office hours she was very helpful. She is very kind and was always willing to help outside of class. Math 140 is tough, but she is willing to go above and beyond to help you understand concepts. Jessica Tripode has been my favorite professor
absolutely not
She is very kind, and wants her students to do well. Math is hard, so that is maybe way some of her ratings are bad. But she willing to help her students in any way she can for them to succeed. Random attendance points, test are hard, but if you put in the work you can do okay.
She was so sweet and understanding and very approachable. I never felt discouraged to ask questions or for help and she very clearly explains topics. The homework is on 2 days a week and it's very manageable. The amount of review materials is also very nice and you can tell that she pulls her test questions from them too.
Absolutely love this prof. Super sweet and caring. Her office hours are absolutely AMAZING, will help so much on exams. She is very concise and clear with her notes. She is willing to understand any situations and just wants students to succeed. Best prof ever.
Pretty good teacher. Math 142 is a tough course, and she gave detailed explanations of all the homework problems. She's overall really caring and recommend. One thing is that sometimes on the test you see questions you don't practice in class, but still a really good teacher overall.
She was an amazing professor. She taught well and explained things well. Just go to class and you'll be fine.
She was very good professor and taught well. Try to go to her office hours. They were super helpful for me. I always thought I did well on her test and then didn't do well. She makes her test to wear if you miss one step you get a different answer, and that answer is on her multiple choice. Regardless she is a great teacher and super nice.
Lots of homework, but it is doable if you just plan ahead of time and complete it early in the week instead of waiting last minute. Group work on Fridays. Tests were lecture heavy, but plenty of ways to review using the week-in-reviews and regular reviews provided before test days. If I had to take MATH 142 again, I would 100% take Tripode again
