Took 8am summer II course with this teacher. She's Very good, passionate about the subject. However, Make sure you are ON TIME, IN ATTENDANCE, AND AWAKE. She takes points off for anything. NO MAKE UP assignments or quizzes unless you have a legit written excuse.
amazing teacher and extremely helpful and nice! if you get her be thankful because her classes are always FULL! Because she's awesome and her class is pretty straightforward!
She is an awesome instructor I would take her class over.
She is a great professor! She can be so helpful and make history very interesting! I learned a lot from her. The book is optional, just make sure you take lots of notes and ask lots of questions!
I took her for HIST 1301 & 1302. She is an amazing professor who gives great lectures! Make sure to make really good notes, and read the assigned book before class begins. If you have any questions, she will help you. I really enjoyed her class. She is a tough, but fair grader who gives good feedback. Skip class, you won't pass.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class, you don't need the book but you do need to take really good notes since your exams go off her lectures. She made paying attention really easy as she is very enthusiastic about her class, don't miss class! Pop quizzes but no worries she'll tell you what to expect. She offers reviews before exams. I would take her aga
Great professor! Took her for both history 1301 & 1302. She puts passion into her lectures. Don't recommend skipping class, taking notes is highly recommended to pass the course. Highly recommend her, she's just awesome. Big sports fan too.
She is awesome. I highly recommend her. Make sure you take notes and study no reason not to pass.
Great teacher. Passionate about her subject. Take good notes of her lectures. Tests are easy if you study. Gives pop quizzes on the readings she assigns (doesn't assign too often). Willing to help if you ask her. Very nice. Funny lady.
Excellent lectures, maybe the best i've had. 4 test and a handful of quizzes that cover readings she assigns as homework. Only problem I had was she's a very tough grader, if you're not a strong writer, you may not get a great grade in this class.. Fairly easy on the eyes too, gentlemen..
This class was a "college" class. There were lots of notes and lots of reading. She was very enthusiastic about what she taught and wanted to help us in every way. She honestly was probably one of the best professors I've had. The class is a challenge but you really do learn A LOT. It was always interesting as well.
If you lovedon't love history she is the one to take it with! You will seriously love how enthuciastic she is, I seriously looked forward to this 8am class with her. Her tests are easy as long as you study and take notes during lecture to help you answer the review she provides. I would probably take this class again just for fun!
Professor Waldrop is very very passionate about history ! In the summer semester, she gave us two tests, five pop quizzes ( from assigned readings), and fine discussion posts. Essays worth a loot, but she can help you outline your essay during office hours. If you need an A, tell her and she will mane sure you understand everything!
Great teacher and amazing lectures taking her again next semester for 1302
very interesting lectures, very enthusiastic. clearly loves history and what she does! very passionate. if you need help, all you have to do is ask.
I loved her class! Ive always hated history but shes so passionate about it. Its like getting new gossip every morning the way she teaches. You have to take A LOT of notes to pass. An A seems impossible in this class because she looks for the smallest details in everything. Dont be scared tho bc shes amazing! Taking her next semester too
I took Professor Waldrop for History 1 and 2, because she is DELIGHTFUL! She is lively and shows enthusiasm in her lectures and gives plenty of preparation for exams. She is very down to earth and easy to talk to and sets her students up for success!
Professor Waldrop is awesome. I like her class I wish she could teach African American history. I would take her and I recommend her to anyone.
She is an awesome professor. I would take her class again!
This professor not only teaches history she makes you learn to appreciate it. Really good!
Truly a great instructor! I'd take her again for 1301 if i didn't already have credit. She's passionate about what she teaches and always makes it interesting!
She gives amazing lectures. But even if you study hard for quizzes and tests its not likely to get an A. Most quizzes and the multiple choice on tests were most focused on details instead of whether you understood or learned something. Very tough grader on the essays.
Her lectures are amazing, she tells history like a story book and keeps you fully engaged. You need a textbook & a novel for an essay. She gives out 5 quizzes:multiple choice&short answers, 3 tests:multiple choice&essay. If you want an A it's very hard, you have to really work for it, but you get a test review. attendance matters. She grades hard.
Great lecturer! You do have to take good notes and study the reviews for exams, but not difficult to pass.
Took her during the summer so the 2 hour lectures were intense. The 2 tests effected your average greatly. I don't enjoy history, but she did make it an interesting subject to learn about. I attended every class, took very detailed notes, studied the review very closely and still ended up with an 88 (didn't bump up to an A)
For those saying she won't help you, grow up. I took her for Summer 1. I'm so glad I did. Finally i understand History. I plan to take her again for 1301. You say she's hard and super difficult? You haven't had Sanchez then. Professor Waldrop teaches History the way it is supposed to be taught. I teared up every day for History 1302. Awesome person
I love her ! what she teaches in class is what she will test you on. If you don not attend classes, you will not pass ! She made me love history again ....x
I was no please with this professor, Although her lectures and information was awesome and the work was intense, I felt she gave no assistant in answering email and information pertaining to the class. I absolutely would not not not take her classes again.
Great lectures.
She was a very tough grader. She would put up slides and talk at the same time so it is hard to get good notes but it's possible.
Prof. Waldrop is a great History teacher. I took her for 1301 and 1302. Her lectures are inspirational. She's passionate about what she teaches, and she talks fast so get ready to keep up with her when taking notes. Occasional quizzes and usually 3 main test. Come to class, take great notes, and get a study partner you will pass with an A like me.
i just love her, best lecturer. She teaches history with passion i wish i could have her next semester. If you skip class you will not pass.
Great Professor second time taking her would recommend to anyone, but she is a hard grader so you have to study the review she gives prior to test. Do not test her due dates she is very strict on those.
Really passionate about this subject, lectures are very detailed, I personally am not a fan of history but her lectures were so good I had to take her again after 1301 for 1302, the test can be somewhat tough so you have to make sure to take good notes and to study for it, you have 5 quizzes based off off the readings she assigns
Awesome. She gives all the information you need for you tests. Take good notes. I did study groups (helped a lot). I also would go to her office hours to ask questions about the reviews if I couldn't figure them out.
I took this professor online and it was the best thing ever. I do not like history but she made it so much fun. Just make sure to keep up with the lectures and do the study guides and you'll do fine on the tests. As for the quizzes and discussion boards they are fairly easy.
I would recommend Prof. Waldrop to everybody! Although her lectures are long she makes them funny and interesting. All her quizzes and test are based on lecture and you do need a book for the class but only read what she instructs you.
She is one of the most amazing teachers I've had. She teaches with love and has much respect for all of her students. I loved her class.
She's just awesome! I love her classes. If you didn't like history before, you're gonna love it with her. She's passionate and very accessible outside class.
She is a great lectures, makes history engaging. The class is fairly simple, the hardest part are the 2 tests but as long as you go to class and do the assignments you will be prepared for them.
not so good
Professor Waldrop was truly the best professor of History that I have ever had. The class mostly consists of listening to her lectures. These lectures are really interesting, for she knows how to make a "boring" subject interesting. Just make sure you take great notes, and you're good to go. If you're looking for an easy A then this is not the one.
Professor Waldrop's lectures are very clear, and for the most part I learned a lot! She's very passionate about history, and I enjoyed looking at her YT videos. I took the online version of the class, and for someone who works full-time, it was very difficult. Nevertheless, it was a great course, and I would recommend. Just be ready to workkkkkk.
Come to class and prepare to laugh and listen, a wonderful professor and makes History fun! not alo t of homework and assignments but loads of lectures. Should've done my work on time 10/10 would take again
Her online lectures were informative and non-sedative. This class requires a good deal of writing, as expected. Grading criteria document is very important to read and comprehend. Writing essay responses in Word and pasting it into eCampus (apparently) is considered cheating and results in zero! Grades everything late, so one mistake costs a lot!!
Not easy, but good class.
Dont take online course
This professor is obviously passionate about history, but impossible to please. She grade your essay responses impossibly hard and your quizzes too. I do not recommend taking this class with this professor if you are wanting to test your learning. The tests are very detail oriented as are the quizzes. You also have to read an entire book in 8 weeks
If you are want to have good grade, never take her class . Her classes are tough.
Dont take her online class, very tough, quizzes and exams are almost impossible to pass
Does require work, but this is college. I enjoyed the lectures.
Not Satisfied
i took the online class. when emailing she isn't very nice with responses. Doesn't care to try to work/help you. unnecessarily makes a simple history class way harder than it needs to be. you have to be Extremely specific when answering questions. You'll get a good grade if you eat, sleep, drink and memorize history. if not, good luck with her
Do not take her online. This professor is horrible. She reads off a slide that she post on you tube. Hardly used the book I bought. Each lecture is 1 hour long of her reading. Each week are 5 lec 5 hours of lec- At the end of the week a Quiz over 5 hrs of lectures, you get 3 min timed quiz. I emailed her for help she is flat out rude, never again
Professor Waldrop is by far the best history teacher I have ever had. She is passionate about what she teaches and makes the history lessons so personal, you won't forget them. She assigns readings, reading them once or twice is sufficient to ace the pop quizzes. She asks obvious questions on those. Exams are pretty difficult.
She was amazing! I fell in love with history! I wish I took her for 1301. Im learn the best listening so listening to her lectures worked for me. She makes you work for your grade you have to do work almost every day to keep up. I learned so much though and that is sort of the point right? There are essays in the exams which can be scary.
if you like history, than this is your class. She is very passionate about the subject, she does pop quizzes and tests. The pop quizzes are easy and so are the tests, only if you study well, she puts up a study guide (this is a lifesaver). She does grade harsh on the one paper. Amazing Class!
Professor Waldrop was exactly what you would except out of a teacher. I took her last year. Her expectations are simple and straight forward. She is easily approachable, provides good lectures, and is available for her students. I would take her class again.
Stay away !!! 3 or 4 one Hour long lectures every week just to amount to a 4 min 3 question quiz and other ps reading quizzes 10 min for 9 questions . Extremely annoying class set up quizzes are only available for one day ! No extra credit options .
No textbook just watch lectures and read posted sources. Class takes time but I learned alot.
Look, Im just like anyone else, trying to pass the easiest way possible. I took profesor Waldrop for HIST 1&2 in person and online and she is the absolute best. Her lectures and the way she lectures is amazing. It makes a huge difference in learning the material. You have to study to pass. Take great notes and exam reviews are whats on her tests
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I took her for the summer and she gives about 5 lectures for you to watch (one hr or more each, just slides) and at the end of all the lectures you only have three questions to answer based on those lectures and that the quizzes are four minutes you also have readings to do which come with a quiz.
Great prof. She weekly work was very easy, her lectures were long but interesting. I listened like podcasts and it made it easier. She was a tough grader for the written portions of tests but I would ask her for personal feedback from the beginning if I were to take this class again. With that, an easy A.
She is not really good when it comes to teaching a class online during a flex term. Her study guides are as good as useless, and her expectations for writing essays are almost impossible to meet. her P.S quizzes are also very difficult to do well on because you only get 3 minutes to complete the entire thing and its 4 questions
Hi Guys, I honestly warn you that should not take her class. Her lectures were interesting, but be ready for it. She will give you two videos and 1hr for each one. You would have quiz lectures every week and just have 3 minutes to complete. Then, you will have 10min to do PS quiz. Also, she's very strict about grading. Be Ready or Stay Away!
I spent maybe 2.5 to 3 hours a week on this class which was less than most of my classes. i spent most time on exam reviews. The reviews helped me make A's on the tests
In this class it is not enough if you know the material. You need to answer the why. I will say this class is hard. Make sure you are well prepared and can answer why something is happening.
This was probably the hardest teacher I have had my whole experience taking college classes. She is very inconsiderate and grades very hard.
Lecture heavy course but i learned so much. Definitely a college class so be prepared to study
Do not take her class. She gives you about 5-7 1 hour videos per week with a 3 minute lecture quiz over these videos. She is a very tough grader when it comes to write portions of either the quizzes or tests
There are many lectures to watch but i liked the lectures. Take good notes and review them well. She was helpful when I emailed about readings and assignments.
Despite following orders and directions, this class continued to be one of the most difficult classes I've attended, not because of the work provided by Professor Waldrop, instead, her teaching methods are very questionable and should be rated among someone of higher superiority. Think before you choose, when it comes to this class.
Loved this class! All she asks of you is to show up, pay attention, and take notes. She also posts alot example videos and documents when there is an assignment.
Just don't take the class, mostly if you're doing it online. 2 hours or more long lectures and 2 min quiz. I dropped her class it was absurd .
There are no papers and no textbooks. You get to use your notes on the final exam.
This is a tough course. Professor Waldrop is very impersonal in communications with students. Not a friendly professor and not a fun course, would not recommend.
I have taken both HIST 1301 and HIST 1302 with Prof. Waldrop. I enjoy her lectures and wish I had more classes to take from her. Just be ready to attend class. Go to class and you'll do fine.
She wants us to really learn history. Show up and pay attention! There are no papers in class and no textbook. We did have a book discussion and final exam and you get to use notes on both
This is a difficult course I have had in my college. She will give about 2-3 lecture videos (about 1 hour each) and 1 quiz (only 2 minutes) every week. Additionally, she is very strict in grading, I would not recommend this course for everyone.
Nothin complicated. Show up, take notes, and study. she's entertaining
Just take lots of notes. it will help you in the end
Professor was cold, and distant with students. Gave 2-3 1hr+ lectures a week to listen to along with quizzes and discussion that she refused to grade until the end of the semester which left me not knowing my full grade. Did not give feedback in exams which is really annoying considering exams where basically essay topics we learned in that unit.
Cool teacher. Lectures are stellar. Helped me when I needed it
I took her online course last semester and it was kinda tough. Although there's nothing to complaint about the quality of her lecture, she post 1-2 lecture videos per week each around 50min up to 1h30min long with a small quiz on the lecture. The exam is quite challenging. Take plenty notes, read carefully and you'll do well!
She was amazing, and I wish I could've taken her class for HIST-1302. You should be prepared to take note organizers after every lecture, and she does go fast. She was funny and definitely loves what she does.
Professor Waldrop has great lectures, she is very engaging every single class. Participation is crucial in this class. Just show up and listen, do every note organizer, and you will be okay!
Note taking is important in this class. Take good notes though and you will be happy at the end of the class.
Her lectures always kept me focused. i learned a great deal and look forward to taking the second part of American history with her.
Her lectures are boring. Shes a very hard grader.
I can honestly say this history class is the best I've had. I really enjoy the way she teaches.
Loved Professor Waldrop. She's very passionate and knows a lot about history and it's obvious that she wants to teach the class and leave them with a good understanding of history. She is the best professor and teacher I've ever had and while her assignments are tough, she only does it for the good of your life.
History is not hard, yet in her class it seemed as if her class was impossible. I will not take another class with her name attached to it. I took notes on every lecture and still felt like passing her class was impossible. I dropped her class and recommended people to find another professor.
I appreciate not having to buy anything for this class and not having to write any papers. She just wants you to watch lectures and do short readings. Tests do take work
If your shy do not take this class. A big portion of your grade is large class participation meaning you have to talk multiple times, which is extremely flawed because some students talk more than others just naturally, so it doesn't favor actual knowledge of the course. You will not get an A if you don't speak
After you leave this class, you'll still think about it. There is so much I learned that I didn't know. You do need to spend time on this class but it's worth it
dont take her online class
I am ever so glad I had the great experience of being Professor Waldrop's student two times. I really feel like she engage us and is a great storyteller of history. She pushed us to put ourselves into the lives these people experienced. She is a great teacher
I learned a lot from her enthusiasm for history and teaching. I appreciated the active engagement opportunities she provided. The passion she carries is truly inspiring and I hope to find that one day.
I absolutely love Professor Waldrop she is a very passionate teacher and knows a lot about history. I will say that it is important to talk in the class or even ask questions for a grade. This class is not the one to be shy in. But overall it was a great experience and she made coming to class fun.
Attendance is mandatory, phones not allowed, and participation is a big part of your grade. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who is shy. I found her lectures very entertaining and she is always available during office hours. I also find it refreshing that she seems to actually care about teaching and her students.
She was knowledgeable about the subject and got you interested throughout class. She was passionate. Just go to class, PARTICIPATE and you do NOT need a textbook.
I enjoyed this class so much! I learned so many things that I had no clue about and I appreciate her knowledge and enthusiasm
Very tough grader unit tests are abstract and ridiculous even when you follow her exact specifications which are very intricate you will at best get a C. As well this professor puts roadblocks in the course to slow you down unnecessarily like slowing down her lectures so you cannot speed through them or progress at your own pace. DO NOT TAKE.
I really appreciated her rigorous and intersting class. her lectures always kept me focused. I have learned a great deal from her class and plan to take the second part of American History from her.
I'm glad I took her for both histories. Her lectures inspire me to learn more history. She is passionate which made me never want to miss her class.
This professor's work is not too hard! Her class can be interesting, but the lectures are extremely long. She's nice and respectful, but her grading is very difficult. During exams she asks students to use the terms she lists and I use them, but she continually states I do not. She gives good feedback sometimes. She takes a while to submit grades.
This class was interesting. She seems to care about us learning. Enough to watch videos of us reading and answering questions lol. I think if you follow deadlines and directions you'll do fine in this class.
This class was easy overall with clear lectures and simple participation, but the final was a huge and unfair jump in difficulty. The escape-room format was stressful, the clues were too cryptic, and the one-hour limit made it worse and stressful. She's a good professor and I learned a lot, but the final should be fairer and way less cryptic.
I plan to take her again. I had a different experience than others I guess. I escaped her escape room in 20 minutes. It was fun. Such an adrenaline rush for me. I took really good notes all semester like she said and I did fine.
The class was extremely easy at first, but the grading in the weight of certain grades will make your final grade almost impossible to calculate the instructions on certain assignments aren't very clear and it's almost no second chances when it comes to this class so you have to be perfect and on point with everything.
I liked this class because she just wants you to learn. No quizzes, research papers, midterms, etc. We read in class with our group and share our thoughts with the class. We watch one video lecture a week outside of class. Don't expect handouts. She told me A is for excellence/mastery, B is for above average, and C is for average.
I studied very hard for this class, including extensive notes and reading, but the exams were much more difficult than expected. The escape room examples sounded manageable, but the actual questions were extremely challenging. Many students struggled despite serious effort. Be prepared for a very demanding course and strict grading.
Participate in class, but also take notes in class. If you only take notes from online lectures, it's not enough. Don't slack on online materials.
