Professor Wickersham is the best! She is so sweet and understands that online classes can be difficult. She is very available in office hours. Class was totally online and lectures were videos done on your own time with homework assignments. Class is basically office hours.
She is a gem. Very sweet and cares how your day went. I took this class entirely online. Packets of fill-in notes posted for each module and you watched the videos and did homework on your own time. Practice tests identical to the exam. The class was just office hours, if you don't have questions, no need to show up.
She worked hard to make class easy for her students. Her lectures are thorough and easy to follow, and all the homework questions are easily answered with her notes. Exams are 60% of your grade, but not very hard. She is very flexible and will work with her students to help them when they need it.
SHE IS AMAZING!! She always asked for feedback at the end of each module and she would adjust her teaching style. She is super accommodating, understanding, and a very good professor. She makes things easy to understand and helps her students do the best they can. As long as you do your work, you will pass. I definitely recommend her class!!!
Honestly the best! If your schedule is tight the online class is very flexible as you do the notes and hw on your own time and come to class to ask questions. She is super sweet and you can really tell she cares about her students
Professor Wickersham is the nicest Statistics professor I've ever had by far. What's super helpful in this class is she posts videos and lecture notes to help explain to students better. She's also always accessible outside the classroom and as long as you see her during her office hours, she's super helpful. She also gives extra credit!
This professor is a literal blessing from God. I don't have the words to describe how amazing she was. I was blown away by how easy the class was, and I still learned so much! I honestly wish every professor was like her. Easy homework, exams are just like the practice exams, lots of office hours, lectures are non mandatory!!!
Yep, easy and nice but the course is a waste of your time and infantilizing. It's like she thinks we're still in high school with her dumbed-down videos and the material is nothing more than elementary level. Sure, take if you want an easy A but don't expect to learn anything.
Class just sucks. She never taught us anything, and only had us come in with questions. It was nice we didn't really have class, but you had to hold yourself accountable to learn the material, ask questions, and stay up to date on all the homework and labs.
Even though it was not a hard class, it was difficult for me to stay interested in it. She explained things well, but she just gave so much homework and lectures. As a result, I stopped caring about the class and left the videos playing in the background. Sadly I received a B+ where I really should have gotten an A if I had pushed myself more.
Best math teacher I've had so far. Extremely understanding and has a very good class setup, in which class is just for questions. A fantastic choice if you plan on taking statistics, especially if you already took it in high school and have a decent understanding of it.
She does not give you any help whatsoever. She speeds through the lectures and does not slow down for anything or anyone. Awful at explaining things. you are best off just teaching yourself everything if you decide to take her.
Professor Wickersham speaks incredibly fast during lectures, your lucky if you can even get one sentence down. Her tests are hard but manageable and she only assigns two things a week but they are very time consuming. She is also incredibly strict about wearing masks and will send you home from class if you are sick.
She just reads the slides and doesn't actually teach; she loves her Excel and face masks. If she spent less time talking about her kids and COVID, she wouldn't have to rush through the lectures every single class. If you want to self teach yourself, take the course: she at least gives you a full sheet cheat sheet for each exam.
I was nervous at first (this was my first statistics class ever) but found her to be an excellent professor. Her homework is designed to reflect the content that will be tested and she puts in a lot of time to check project submissions and give helpful feedback. There's a lot to cover, but she always takes questions and has solid office hours.
Truthfully Professor wickersham has been one of my favorite professors during my time at SMU, she knows how to teach the material in a way to not lose engagement. She will never leave you hanging and always be willing to talk.
She is a really nice professor and is super accommodating and understanding. My only problem was that she went through material pretty quickly. Would recommend her
very obvious she wants to help you succeed. overall great professor.
Make sure you go to class because it take a long time to makeup otherwise. She only gives homework once a week but it takes 2+ hours so set time aside to do it. She talks very fast in class but records the class so you can go back and take notes. Tests are hard but similar to the practice exams so take advantage of those.
She is a nice teacher and no doubt cares for her students but my gosh she goes so fast during lectures. I was barely able to keep up, the only way I could get through the class was rewatching lectures but I am not sure how long that will be an option. She does make time to help and gives good feedback. But stats just sucks as a class in general.
Professor Wickersham goes incredibly fast when teaching and she doesn't like to go back to previous slides. Her homework is very time-consuming so make sure you set aside a lot of time. Tests are kinda hard but she gives partial credit. Overall, she's very understanding and cares for her students but she's just boring.
she is kind and truly tries to connect with students. HOWEVER. wow does she just move at 100 mph. Even when students ask her to slow she really doesn't. I understood about the first 3 weeks but she moves so quick that all the basics don't really stick and then I had no idea what was going on. Lots of tests, hw, labs, projects. Not worth taking.
She is incredibly nice and LENIENT when it comes to grading. She let us use a cheat sheat on every test and the final was open notes. And you got to use excel on every test. The homeworks can take a long time to finish. You get multiple tries to submit anything in this class, for full credit. Just do the practice tests and homework to get an A.
She is very nice and she cares about international students. She curved every test(If you got the question wrong, you will lose partial credit), which is very easy to get 90 or above. She wants all the students to learn the materials, not just for the test but to apply them in daily life. Very accessible during outside classes.
Homework and labs are easy, tests are pretty hard. Goes through the lecture very quickly which makes it difficult to keep up with notes, but most of my notes came from homework and labs because she gives a lot of feedback on those. Wants you to succeed, will give you multiple submission attempts, and let you push off tests if needed.
Professor Wickersham is a good teacher, but she lectures very quickly. For people that have never taken stats before, it can be kinda difficult to follow at times. She gives multiple attempts at all homeworks and labs, and the feedback on those is very helpful. Tests aren't super easy but not too awful. If you put in the work, the class isn't bad.
Lots of examples, and a very generous grader with lots of opportunities for bonus points or extra credit. Very helpful to go to her office hours or through email. Talks rather fast in class, but the lecture notes are all posted, so even if you miss an example you can follow along with the lecture on your own time.
Professor Wickersham moves very fast during her lectures, so she is hard to keep up with. I only survived by watching the recorded lectures outside of class which took a long time. She didn't really help me when I asked her questions or emailed her. Tests are very hard so make sure to study. Overall she is a nice person just not the best teacher.
She really cares about students and is accommodating but she absolutely flies through lectures and tests are difficult, although we can use a cheat sheet. Homework once a week but takes a long time and you get 3 attempts. The lab section is easy and you don't really need to show up. Overall a pretty easy class as long as you study.
She is very nice! Always available to help and almost always respond within 24 hours of you reaching out. She is very caring and really tries to break down the content for you to understand. You do have to do work tho, this isn't a blow-off class, you have to study hard on exams but the homework/lectures prepare you for sure.
Her tests were incredibly hard and I had to reteach myself every singel thing she taught because she is awful at teaching.
Tests are hard, but that's just the nature of the class. Everything you are tested on is very upfront as she provides sample tests for practice. It's also nice that she gives multiple attempts for the homework and labs. This class isn't easy, but Wickersham tries her best to make it fair.
Prof Wickersham is amazing! Her lectures can be tough to follow but if you read the online textbook (you don't have to buy it and she doesn't make you read) it really helps. She is so nice and willing to work with you. There are weekly homeworks but she gives you 3 tries and explains the answers after each try. Would love to have her again.
Class is pretty easy. Multiple attempts on homework and labs means you should get full credit in most of the class if you care enough. She will let you use a page cheat-sheet on each test as well as a calculator or excel. Final is open note. Partial credit on multiple choice tests somehow. Not too bad.
If you do all the homework and labs you can't fail. Stats either clicks or you struggle so go to office hours she's very helpful. the fill-in notes were helpful.
Class consists of homeworks due each time class occurs, labs, tests, attendance. Labs are so easy and teach you how to use excel. Tests are online and she gives you a practice test the day before with a question bank that it pulls from for the real test. She is superrrrr nice and funny and you get to know her life a little during classs.
Don't listen to the bad reviews - take her. The whole course is formulated to help students succeed. 3 attempts on homework, practice test with same test bank as exam & unlimited attempts (to see the questions). Cheat sheet. Allows you to make excel template to use on exams. She does everything to help you succeed, and the lectures are very good
STAT 2331 is a tough class hands down, doesn't matter who you take. But with Wickersham, you'll have a bunch of HW attempts, practice tests, and buffers that'll bump you up even if the tests don't go well. Might have to YouTube a concepts every now and then, but Wickersham as good as it gets
she is a great professor and I really liked her class, as long as you go to class and do your homework and labs you will be just fine. the class is extremely lectures heavy and if you get behind it will be hard to catch up, but she is very nice and understanding.
She goes very fast during lectures, but with homework, labs, and multiple attempts on either, it's not the absolute worst but still not the absolute best. Class is pretty much impossible to fail if you just do everything. She's really nice and very available with office hours and appointments. Lowest homework grade and exam get dropped
I took Wickersham for Winter Term, and she understood her students' schedules. She excused absences when necessary, allowed you to work ahead, and explained the concepts really well. Her real tests pull from the same bank as the practice, and you have three attempts.
didn't like her lectures but she is a very caring professor who always checks on the students. she is caring and will extend deadlines if you have a valid reason. very straightforward about what is going to be on the tests. if you take the practice tests you should be able to get a good grade because the exam is exactly like the practice test.
Completely agree with how dumb down she makes everything while messing up her own dumbed down version as if she intended to make the mistakes as a way to "test" us. Don't know how she has a job.
If you have to take stats, she's the one to take it with. The class is graded very objectively, there's multiple attempts on everything except tests, and she's accessible and knowledgeable. Doing the labs isn't optional but going to the lab class is optional. Once you get over the HS teacher vibe, you'll be cruising.
Wickersham is very passionate about what she teaches and it is clear in her lectures. It is basically impossible to get a bad grade in the class since she posts filled out lecture notes, practice exams, and lets you redo homework and labs. The class moves pretty fast, but it is doable.
Amazing prof. Her canvas is organized and detailed. Multiple attempts on homework and labs. Gives practice exams. Lectures are engaging, she's not just reading off the slides but actively works through them and gets feedback. Available after and before class, email/canvas, and multiple times to meet during office hours. Textbook pdf was given.
Miss Wickersham allows multiple attempts on all homework and project checkpoints. She gives a practice exam with questions from the test bank for each exam and allows a "cheat-sheet" for each exam (2 for the final). She really wants you to understand the concepts and is very helpful during office hours. Definitely recommend.
If I could take her for all of my stats classes I would. She truly cares about her students success. If you are willing to put in the work and show her you care you will be rewarded. By far my favorite professor at SMU.
Before this semester, people said she was a fine teacher, but the reason they took her class is because she gave a manageable study/workload. However, because people said she was easy last semester, she has worked very hard to make the class harder to pass. If you want a teacher who understands that this is a mandatory class, do not take her.
One of the best professors I've had at SMU! I was nervous about taking this class but, she really walks you through everything you need to know. The grade is made up of homework, exams, and a group project. She gives quick feedback on all assignments. You can also do corrections for partial credit on the free response portions of exams and homework
She gives great lectures, wants to know every student, and gives partial credit for correcting free response questions. She assigns weekly homework, a group project and practice tests that isn't too heavy or hard and they help prepare for exams. She even posts internship/job opportunities! Always goes above and beyond, one of the best profs. at SMU
I loved this class, learned so much! Wickersham is honestly the sweetest and truly wants the best for her students; she goes above and beyond every time and wants to make sure everyone is in a good mindset before starting a lesson! Definitely recommend her if you have never taken stats before. Love her!!
Wickersham teaches a lot like a high school teacher: HW for every class, slides with fill in the blank, practice tests. If you show up and pay attention, you'll be fine. She has made it where you can't game the class now.
There were lots of assignments but multiple attempts on homework and labs with useful critiques on wrong answers. She posted lecture notes and practice tests that are like the tests themselves. She responds to emails fast and is easily available during office hours. Also allows a cheat sheet for exams.
Have you missed the most useless class of middle school with the most irritating teacher assigning daily homework like you're 15 years old again rather than a college student? Well, this is the teacher for you. One step above the gym coach teaching health.
She let us use cheat sheets on tests, and she gave us practice exams which really helped with studying. If you're going to take this class, take it with her! While the material was challenging at times, she did her best to make it as easy as possible.
She really should be teaching high school instead, she's better suited for that. Kind of felt like she babied us (not in a good way), and she constantly told us to turn to a partner for partner work. You don't learn anything in the class as it is flipped, everything is through videos. Additionally, the weight to estimate your grade was always off.
Wickersham is the teacher who knew her students' names. She was absolutely wonderful for the first two tests but started to rush really bad for the last two tests. Her lectures are engaging but attendance is mandatory. I would recommend her!
Wickersham prepares you well for her tests, and I would even say the practice were almost exactly like the tests. Labs helped with my understanding of the lecture content and practice with Excel. This was a fairly easy class, especially if you have taken STATS previously in high school.
I really felt like I taught myself for the majority of this class, Wickersham isn't very nice and comes off as condescending and rude often. She will not round up your grade even if you are close so beware. You get knocked down 3% in attendance for every class you don't go to which is insane. Attendance should be optional, we're grown adults..
Doesn't teach, worst course experience of my life, never been so lost in a class before and I make all A's. She is NOT a nice person, gets angry at students when we ask questions, and is too lazy to help. So infantilizing it is gross and she needs to get a job at a middle school rather than trying to work with college aged adults who expect effort.
Honestly, Wickersham is a great professor for those who are willing to put in effort in the class. What makes Wickersham a "hard" professor is her willingness to engage with students. Meaning, she expects you to do the same. If you are the type to skip collaborations/class, expect a low grade. If you are willing to put in effort, she is an easy A.
She is an extremely difficult grader, the only assignments you have cant be dropped, and the amount of word she expects you to do is ridiculous. She used to be easier which is why she's getting more difficult as you can see from history of ratings. Her "lectures" are a waste of time, never helpful in office hours, absolutely terrible.
She teaches like middle school algebra but way less effectively. It's mindblowing how much we pay to go here and how poor our teachers are. She couldn't be bothered to respond to emails or be in office hours but could count off points for answers we had actually correct. She should count herself out and go somewhere else.
I am shocked at all the negative reviews on this professor. She is incredibly helpful in her classes. She let's you redo wrong answers in tests for partial credit and allows multiple attempts on homework. She gives great feedback. It can be a lot of work but she is so kind and helpful.
You take notes all of class. 90% of the notes have nothing to do or are on the test. I've never had a teacher like this in my life, she actually took me outside of class and told me to drop her class. I am giving you the truth because I am disgusted with what she does to students. I am saving your grade
Wickersham can come off as passive aggressive when teaching, but she's better one-on-one when you need help. Homework isn't too bad, and neither is the first exam. The second exam kinda blindsides you, but the final is redemptive. Most people got high B's or A's. But beware, this class is easy to get lost in, and it's hard to get back on track.
Such a rude woman, you never know what you are going to get with her, sometimes she is helpful other times she tells you to study more in a dismisive manner than help you. Her tests come out of nowhere so no matter what you study you will do poorly on at least one. She used to be easy from what i understand but is now the worst option.
Very unclear grading criteria, unreasonably high expectations for assignments, absolutely boring "discussions" where she expects us to teach the rest of the class. Her snarky comments to people who disagree with her are unprofessional DO NOT TAKE (she's a bad teacher). I couldn't wait for her class to end.
Cares and wants to see students succeed. Hands down best professor at SMU
One of the least competent professors at SMU. Does not have a grasp on the material she is teaching. Material is auto-created and auto-graded, lecture slides are straight from the textbook. Jessica does nothing, can't teach. She tries to baby you into taking notes and it is horribly insulting as a college student. Got a C with hours of work.
Last 5 minutes of class and she is scolding us about how we have 10 minutes left and that it's "our grade" because we were packing up. I also had her beginning of the year and she was extremely rude and said that "I should be lucky to be in this class because she would have said no otherwise" Do not take this class if you want good education.
Am a 4.0 student and I have never gotten grades like these even looking it up and you find nothing. its impossible to ace this class and she's not setting you up for anything for good grades at all
Very unhelpful
The worst professor at SMU and a bad person. She is so rude to students and makes fun of them for being confused or getting questions wrong. She makes no effort to actually teach anything in office hours without being condescending. Her lectures are riddled with mistakes teaching us wrong. I hope SMU does something about her soon.
Doesn't have a phd and it shows, take someone who is an actual professor.
I absolutely adore her. She is so kind and makes it her personal mission to help you succeed. The class isn't difficult to pass if you pay attention and if you don't understand something GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She is incredibly caring and helpful
LITERALLY THE WORST PROF I'VE EVER HAD. She had no clear instructions for her assignments, and what ever was there didn't include what she specifically instructed. Additionally she took off points for something that I wasn't supposed to do or needed to do.
Prof. Wickersham is kind, patient, and genuinely wants to help her students. Very kind person! Would take again for sure.
Don't take this class. She doesn't like teaching and it's pretty clear throughout the semester that she would rather be somewhere else. If you can, try and take another professor unless you are looing to ruin your gpa, then by all means take her. She acts like she hates her job and is not very good at it anyhow.
Professor Wickersham is a solid prof if you're taking STAT 3300, but you have to be willing to pay attention or you're going to get left behind. Homework is a nightmare but the exams are actually relatively easy, you get a cheat sheet. Beware of the group project, though, it's a solid amount of work. Final is open note, so it shoudn't be a problem.
The material in the class was hard but she did her best to explain it! She also gave multiple attempts on homework and labs which was great!
LITERALLY THE WORST PROF I'VE EVER HAD. Insane about cheating and will falsely accuse you then never apologize when she realizes she's wrong.
Do not take this professor. Really tough material and she does a very poor job of teaching it. She doesn't know how to teach and yet we have to take her course. SMU needs to double check who they are hiring starting with the stats department.
Open note exams that are not super hard. The lecture is just slides where we all follow along and fill in the blanks with her. Lab is super easy but homework is a bit tough but doable. MAKE SURE TO PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. You will fall behind if you don't pay attention but you can always ask her questions during office hours or emails.
A bad experience overall. She spends more energy on being a rule-follower and babying you than she does teaching with her condescending worksheets, shutting down opposing viewpoints in the process. You leave the class feeling like you've gained nothing. Lack of professionalism contributes to the dumbed down reputation of SMU.
It is recommended to use the textbook but I did fine without it. You can get lost if you don't attend every class but going to office hours really helps. Completing all of the practice exams she provides was also very helpful. She does posts notes at the end of class so I suggest paying attention rather than taking your own. I really did like her!
Unskilled, underinformed, deeply untalented in teaching and seems to be unaware of these things.
Very easy to succeed in her class. You get a cheat sheet on all tests, and get to drop your worst test, homework, and lab. 3 attempts on each homework and lab with feedback to help guide you, so it's very easy to get a good grade on that. She posts her notes so you can follow along and fill in the blanks. Generously gives extra points back on tests
It shoudnt be this hard but it is becuase she doesn't know how to teach nor does she have her terminal degree which may be why. did not care about the students, and would not help out no matter what the questions was. SMU needs to pony up the big bucks and get more qualified professors.
She is so much tougher than is misrepresented on here and is a terrible lecturer and everyone I know agrees so I don't know who's liking her. Disorganized, rude, and not effective at presenting the concepts. SO bad...
holy f### this class will put you through the ringer. Imagine being blinded folded and forced to fight prime mike tyson for 10 rounds straight. Personally I have always been great at math but this is the stopping point, you learn literally nothing in the class and have to re teach everything. Also if you think math cant be made polotical just wait.
approaching t-minus 12 hours until judgement day... the second test... The class as a whole knows nothing. me and my boys are suffering in loyd rn... slaving away at our note sheets just for them to be consficated because they didn't fit the 75 different criteria... running off 50mg of addy some bag... just need to hold out until may... wish me one
Professor Wickersham is one of the best professors at SMU for sure! The feedback on homework and multiple attempts are a life saver! Additionally, provided practice tests help prepare you very well for the tests as well, and she is very easy to access via email and outside of class hours. Attendance is helpful, but it is only 5%.
Dr. Wickersham is a fantastic teacher. Stats is not that hard of a course, but she makes the class interesting and fun to learn about. If you want to succeed, however, you must attend office hours when you are confused and dedicate a good amount of time to studying. You have to try to learn actively, and you will get an A.
HORRIBLE. Cannot teach, infantilizing, unorganized, and I question her qualifications. Worst professor and person. Huge ego with little interest in actually teaching. Do not take.
Its crazy shes seeing the feedback here and instead of learning from it, is writing reviews that are clearly written by her. It's impressive how bad she is at teaching, maybe she would be more suited elsewhere at SMU...
Don't take this class seriously terrible teacher, and why is she leaving her own reviews?
Worst professor at SMU, her only fan on here is herself
Shes super sweet and wants you to do well! She offers partial credit on her multiple choice exams which can help ur grade A LOT. Go to her lectures, pay attention, study and you will be just fine! She uploads all her notes and explains things well! It's a faced paced class but totally managble
Notice how there is some overwhelmingly good review that follows every bad review. This is the most bipolar review page I've ever seen and is a major red flag as everyone I know agrees with me when I say she's the most horrendous professor I've ever encountered. One of us is lying of conniving. Trust.
RELEASE ME!!! Worst mistake of my life taking this class, most of the class only shows up for the attendance check-in. A fair comparison would be the 9th level of hell from Dante's Inferno, this is not an exaggeration. I can't do it anymore this class is literally hell, and to make it worse, the examples are filled with liberal brainrot rigmarole.
Yo lets put a MASSIVE test 5 days before the final exam bc three months wasn't enough to fit that test in. I would rather get beaten for a week straight than take this class again. This is a waste of time, my parent's money, life in general. Thanks for ruining my semester.
Ms. Wickersham is a lovely person, but I did find the way she explained concepts as completely incomprehensible. I only went to class for the participation grade and didn't pay attention to a word of lecture. If you just read the slides and take the practice exams you'll ace it. The reviews on here are a little harsh, I think 3300 is an easy A.
Accurate comments she's a joke and a horrible teacher never take her even if you have to drop out to avoid
Who's ready for another wicker test?!!! Want to make a 40 on exams and ever wondered what it's like to be so poorly taught the entire class fails every single fg test?!!!??? HERES YOUR OPPORTUNITY!!! SIGN UP, still time to enroll!!!!!!
Jessica you are a really really bad teacher
A lot of people do not understand stats itself is an ambiguous, hard to teach class. Dr Wickersham is INSANELY nice and caring; she WANTS you to succeed. Cheat sheet on the test, 3 attempts on homework, 3 attempts on labs. ALL SUPER EASY. Tests also easy and similar to the practice exam/hw. Pay attention and put in effort, you'll finish with an A
Dont take her its terrible
This class really changed my perspective on life, it made me appreciate life more. A solid comparison for this class is imagine being an MK ULTRA patient in the 1950s, that's not a joke. I think 20 years down the line if someone says the name Wickersham it will active an inner hatred inside of me for stats again. Dont take this class
1 Gorilla vs 100 humans, Im betting on the humans. Now 100 humans vs 1 Dr Wickersham... oh boy... You ain't winning...
We do have weekly HW's and labs, but their really easy! She provides all the material needed. Test's aren't bad at all as long as you really study, and she provides plenty of opportunities to study and understand the materials outside of class.
Good ol' Jumping Jessica back on here for damage control............TERRIBLE LECTURES AND EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL PROFESSOR. You basically have to teach yourself the whole class.
Class felt like a psychological experiment to see how much confusion a student can endure. Lectures were circular, tests were brutal, and office hours? Pointless. You'll learn more from YouTube and crying.
If suffering built character, I'd leave this course a saint. Nothing made sense, and it was like she actively avoided teaching. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy watching your GPA implode.
She talks fast, skips steps, and then blames you for not understanding. Whole class was lost and we bonded over shared confusion. Felt like academic gaslighting. Run.
This class should come with a warning label. Unclear lectures, impossible tests, and zero support. If you value your time, mental health, or GPA, find literally anyone else.
This isn't a statistics class, it's a lesson in academic survival. No curve, no mercy, no clarity. You'll leave with trauma and a group chat full of people wondering what just happened.
She teaches like it's a puzzle and hides the pieces. Office hours are more cryptic than the lectures. If you like solving mysteries more than learning stats, you might enjoy it.
Her class mostly involves her reading off of slides and having practice in class. This is a pretty easy class as long as you study and prepare a good cheat sheet for the test. However, if you don't stay caught up, it's easy to fail. As a person, she's very sweet and you can tell she really cares about her students. I love Wickersham!
Instead of coming on here to learn from her students, Jiving Jessica is trying to spin some tall tales of wondrous teaching we all know never happened. Totally unorganized slop is what she serves and your grade will show it.
She needs to find another job: confusing lectures, inconsistent scheduling, and hard grading but all at the end of the semester so you can't complain on her evals. There is no structure in lectures and she does not know how to teach, def worst course I have ever taken and tanked my GPA. Rude attitude in her persona too, just a lousy experience.
Poor jessie jess has no clue how to teach so she fails us all, instead of learning from her mistakes, continues to rake, and is the worst of all
Lectures can be confusing but if you self study a little, the course if very easy. She allows cheat sheets and gives a formula sheet for tests. She also drops your lowest exam grade. Very easy course. People who do bad just don't look over the material.
I think everyone's over exaggerating the experience, it's not an easy class and it's not an impossible class either. Stats isn't my thing and I made it out alive, she's nice, answers quickly, seems to care about the students, classes made good use of the time each week. People are pissed because they had to put a little hard work in to succeed.
She's decent, was very responsive to my emails. My only complaint is she goes fast in lectures at times. Class is very straight forward, there's homework twice a week and you get cheat sheets on exams with 3 attempts per homework. If stats isn't your strong suit this can feel like a lot of memorization and you won't like it but passing is doable.
To sum up.. Absolutely terrible teacher, did not teach me a single thing. However, homework is super easy although there is a lot, and if you crunch down on the practice tests and have someone/ ai teach it to you, you will do fine. The class is not hard just a waste of time listening to her yap. You can get a good grade just have to teach yourself.
Worst class of my college career. Jessie couldn't teach a fish to swim. No structure, no support, and you'll be lucky to understand even 10% of what's going on. A GPA killer.
Her idea of teaching is speedrunning a slideshow and then testing us on content she never mentioned. Avoid unless you like pain.
This class was like being blindfolded in a maze with no exit. Jessie doesn't explain anything and blames students for being confused.
Lectures are just words without meaning. Jessie talks fast, teaches nothing, and gives exams like you've had training from NASA.
Imagine being dropped into a stats class with zero guidance and a professor who acts like it's your fault. That's Jessie. Pure chaos.
Jessie, please stop writing your own fake 5-star reviews. We were all there. We saw what happened. It was academic carnage.
Every test felt like a trick. Every lecture felt like a trap. Jessie doesn't teach—she torments.
If you value your GPA or mental stability, do not take this class. Jessie teaches like she's in a race against time and logic.
No feedback, no structure, just vibes and suffering. Jessie might be the only person who could make math more confusing.
You walk in expecting statistics. You leave questioning your major, your tuition, and your will to keep going. Thanks, Jessie.
Entire class is nothing but rambling.
Before taking this class I suggest you see her in person and then you'll understand why she's so unhappy with her life.
Jessie we dont give af about mental health, what made you think that? its your millennial libtard generation that is into feeling not us, you think we give af? You literally put libtard fake statistics into your math problems. I like your little quote below and I hope you have a terrible summer you POS.

awful awful awful sad sad sad........ instead of working on her teaching skills, as she desperately needs, she's on here making grand statements about mental health like nobody cares about your mental health, jessie, that's a you prob
What cometh for thee is not by my hand, but by a force higher than the stars. Lay not blame upon others, for it is thy own doing that summons thy downfall. In thy pride and folly, thou didst fashion the storm that now descends. Reap now the harvest thou alone hath sown, and may wisdom find thee in the ruin.
The most amazing (and kinds easy) teacher I had. Stats in itself is difficult maybe thats why hes rating is but but srsly he is the best stats taecher in the department who isnt trying to fail you
Came into this class excited to learn—left wondering how this person still has a job. Lectures were all over the place, grading made zero sense, and the vibe was just… condescending.
Jessie, jessie, jessie, get a new job cause we all hate you - the classroom often felt like a space where certain students were elevated based on attention-seeking rather than academic contribution. If you want a bad grade becuase of bad teaching, sign up for this b class..
If cruelty and superiority complexes were teaching credentials, this person would have tenure for life. Feedback is vicious, grades are demoralizing, and empathy is nonexistent. A hostile, draining classroom experience.
Pretty sure every rubric, lecture, and Canvas message came straight from a free cengage prompt. But when my work sounded too coherent, I got accused of cheating. Hypocrisy level: boss fight.
She is very nice but LIBERAL. She gets political in a math class.
LIBERAL MATH - who knew such a thing existed.
All she talks about is diversity and politics, not actual math. Assigns way too much homework without actually teaching it in class.
Jessie will find a way to incorporate liberal ideology into any example statistics problem. She is extremely woke. Jessie, you teach at SMU, know your audience!!
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! She helps you with every problem you could ever have.
She is a good teacher and accessible outside of class but the class is NOT easy. You do have to work for it. I go into office hours and she will let me sit there as long as I need and help me through utilize her and it will make your life so much easier. There is a lot of homework and it is graded on accuracy so make sure you do it with a tutor.
doesn't care about you, ask you to come into office hours to talk abt exams then be confused why you are even there, pushes her own political ideals on you by even making her exam questions about it. had questions abt uncomfy topics cares sm abt ppl cheating that her practice exams dont even compare to exams, makes wording on exams very confusing
Stats is hard but she makes it a lot easier. This class could be so much harder than it is. She is super nice and very helpful if you have questions.
yo jessie, we know abt ur fake rebiews, the boys from fiji, sae and sig chi all hate ur guts frl, be careful where ur stepping
The only positive reviews are clearly sarcasm or self-authored by hers truly. Woman can't teach and is a liberal spewing pit.
Overall, this professor was decent. While some test questions included sensitive topics, they were open to feedback and was available through office hours and email. Not my favorite professor, but not a bad experience, but attendence is mandatory and tests are hard.
STAT 2331 is a very content heavy course, and Prof Wickersham does her best to lighten the load. Pay attention in class. She explains the concepts really well, you just need to practice on your own time. The tests are a little rough but she gives you practice exams and cheat sheet. She also gives extra credit. Wouldn't have chose anyone else.
Stats is going to be difficult regardless of the teacher; however, she moves and teaches very quickly. A lot of things can be unclear, and tests are pretty difficult so study hard. Although it's hard to follow she does do a good job at advertising her office hours and is always willing to help.
The absolute worst teacher at this university and doesn't have a doctorate. At $90 we should be able to afford the best, or at least the educated and unworn.
Great! I'm just a bad student
She is very sweet and really wants her students to do well. However, the homework commitment outside of class is a LOT for an intro stats class. Lectures are also extremely boring and the labs are pointless. But, you do get a cheat sheet on every exam and if you do the practice exams over and over again you'll do fine on the exams.
