Lab professor. Really great. Funny, explains concepts very well, clearly cares about students. Quiz each class period. Study the lab manual well and you'll be fine. The actual labs aren't too bad.
Mrs. Wilson is the lab Coordinator. Lab is definitely do-able. Read the lab manual, go to lab, study for the practicals. Quizzes are super easy. She's always willing to work with you through any issue you may be having- be sure to talk with her early & often.
Great lab coordinator. She makes the lab extremely fun and makes it so that the lecture is easier to understand. Read the lab manual and you will pass. Quiz each class based on the lab manual and PowerPoint which means it's extremely passable. Easy A.
Mrs. Wilson was an outstanding lab coordinator for UCF general micro. Very knowledgeable and available for question outside of lab. Genuinely cares about student success and will give individualized advice on how to succeed. Take advantage of her as an asset if you have a hard time, she'll get you on the right path.
This was my favorite professor I have ever had. I never got a test or lab grade below an 84. The only thing that ruined my grade from being an A was the clicker questions she uses for case studies. I thoroughly enjoyed thems but you can never rely on technology. Got an 88 but still a great teacher and would take it again if I had the chance.
Mrs. Wilson is very clear about what you need to know for the tests. The test questions are entirely based on the powerpoints. Go to class, read the powerpoints, do the homework, and you're good to go. She's also very nice and cares about her students!
Mrs. Wilson is the lab coordinator for Microbiology. The lab has about 20 pre lab quizzes (don't be late!). There is a midterm and a lab practical, which is more hands on. She cares for her students but makes you work a bit. However, out of all the previous labs I have been in Micro was the most hands on and interesting! She will work with you too!
Mrs. Wilson is a fantastic person and instructor alike and cares about her students. BE PREPARED to study, as you will have ten quizzes, a midterm, and a final practical which are all hands on. You will also have two unknowns with multiple bacteria within a sample. You will learn to memorize and utilize nearly 30 tests to distinguish bacteria.
I LOVE HER! She's queen on microbiology. Took this class for summer A and halfway through she took over for Ambivero for lecturing and the class got way more better. She's amazing in lab and it's super easy to pass and then in lecture her exams are basically her powerpoints. She gives really good talks in detail and tells you what you need to know
AMAZING lab professor. You will have a great time taking this course. Micro lab can be daunting at first but she does a great job at making it fairly easy and fun. Lab quizzes are every lab, and they are based on the manual so READ the sections well. Midterm and practical were easy if you studied well and memorized all the indicators/facts.
I love Professor Wilson so much. She made this class so enjoyable for me. Even though she wasn't as well versed in the subject as Dr. Ambivero, she is a way better teacher. When Mrs. Wilson took over, the whole class started to experience their grades go up and have a better understanding of the material. She's awesome.
Professor Wilson is a fantastic professor and she made learning microbio more interesting then it seems. I would definitely recommend taking her. Don't wait till the day before to study, there's alot of information to learn.
Never met her personally nor was she in my lab, but she was very nice in emails/announcements. She was very straightforward on tests and quizzes. Gives out study guides that help a lot for both the midterm and final. Questions on the midterm/final were also straightforward, not very application based. Would take a class if she taught it.
Mrs. Wilson mainly handled the lab portion of the general microbiology and taught a few lecture classes, but she truly is a great professor. She's pretty straightforward in teaching and tries to be as clear as possible in regards to lab material/assignments. Lab is easy; just make sure to read the lab manual and take notes for future reference.
Nice and willing to clarify things if needed. Gives study guides for midterm & practical. Necessary to attend lab bc quizzes every day and you also need to purchase the lab manual as it is used for the quizzes. Do well in the lab to help buffer out grade received in lecture exams lol. Not hard if you pay attention during lecture and lab time.
Mrs. Wilson was the lab coordinator for MCB 3020C she was honestly the best lab teacher i've had at UCF so far. She genuinely cares about her students and knows what she is talking about. I would recommend her to anyone and take her again if needed to.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! She is horrible. Her test questions are horribly worded and make no sense. She is completely unforgiving and has a HORRIBLE POWER COMPLEX. She treats you as if you're in a PHD program. An undergrad class should not be made this difficult. She makes this class harder to pass than OChem.
Honestly the worst professor. She must gave written the good reviews herself. She has a power complex and consistently talks down on students. Extremely rude. Would not recommend anyone to take her for any bio class.
Professor Wilson was the lab coordinator for micro so this class was only worth 1 credit even though there was just as much work as lecture. Her TAs did all of the teaching. Lab was 1 time a week and you had quizzes/lab reports due almost ever class. There was 1 midterm and 1 final. You need to buy the lab manual bc test/quiz questions come from it
Mrs. Wilson was an amazing teacher for this class. Her lectures were very easy to understand. Just make sure to listen to the lecture recordings and take good notes and you should be fine in this class. -
I loved her lectures, her slides weren't overcluttered and she would highlight information you really needed to know. We were in a huge lecture hall and would still take questions and re-explain if needed. Plus, the labs were fun. Its a tough class simply because the amount of info, not her. She does the absolute best she can
I took the lab over summer online due to Covid and i have no complaints. READ THE LAB MANUAL BEFORE MIDTERM AND FINAL AND YOU WILL GET AN A! quizzes every class (5 questions, 5 points) ATTEND ALL ZOOM MEETINGS TO GET LAB SHEET COMPLETED! DO GREAT IN THIS CLASS BECAUSE IT IS HUGE PART OF LECTURE GRADE AND CAN SAVE ( AND I MEAN SAVE ) YOUR GRADE!!
Labs were done the best they could given the circumstances. She also did a solid job for the few weeks she was in charge of lectures though I do prefer the other professor for the lecture that's a personal opinion.
Nicest Prof. Only downside is you have to attend every zoom meeting in order to collect results of the latest exercise since it's an online lab. One mid and a non-cumulative final. Questions from her ppts and lab manual which is short and easy.
Professor Wilson may be a good professor in typical circumstances, but in this online-age she is horrendous. Long zoom lectures run by a TA take place of typical lab time, accompanied by daily honor-locked quizzes. The course is unnecessarily difficult due to the book exercises, which are long "labs" that make you drag pictures around for 3 hours.
she's amazing, makes the lab super easy. people who didn't do good in this class didn't dedicate the time. study the powerpoint recordings and you'll be fine. her TAs are amazing, specially Santiago. lab is interesting and easy to understand. most is memorization.
Dr. Wilson is probably the best professor I've ever had. She is so helpful and generous with extra credit. Her labs were easy and the homework was super minimal. I signed up for rate my professor just to brag about her. I highly recommend!
Professor Wilson knows the material is a lot but she really cares about her students and wants you to succeed! I found the class to be very interesting and there isnt a lot of homework :)
Absolutely AWFUL!!!! Even after the extremely dense lectures the only things on the test were from the book. She has a horrible power complex and believes that any question is a question of her authority and answers in a horrendous condescending tone. Since classes went online she only got worse and more demanding. Would give a 0 if I could
Lab with Mrs. Wilson was a little bland since the lab was online but she does a great job of explaining the topics and makes the quizzes and exams extremely doable. As long as you listen to the lectures, attend class (which was often very short), and study a little bit, an A is absolutely attainable. Her TAs are great too.
Ms. Wilson is a very nice professor. She tells you in the beginning exactly what she expects from you so there are no surprises. Microbiology is a tough subject but she makes lab fun. She answers her emails pretty fast compared to others. I would definitely take her again!
Prof. Wilson is amazing! So helpful and kind. Empathetic to her students and wants us all to succeed. The lab carries lecture grade so much, get every point in lab and study pwpts for the lecture. All of Wilson's TA's are amazing and nice too. The lab is fun, even online, and so informational. Highly recommend.
Wilson is the sweetest! Her TA Josh is so helpful and made lab so easy and interesting. There was so much extra credit that I had well over 100% at the end of the semester. Cushions lecture grade a lot. She is very fair on her tests and she made things as smooth as possible as we handled class online during COVID.
I loved this professor and class! She held zoom lectures which were very benefical in learning better! Her lectures and powerpoints were very easy to follow along, and made the information easier to learn. I studied powerpoints and everything on exams was from there. She also gave bonus questions and extra credit and was very caring! I reccomend!
She was the best teacher I've ever had. I have never had a professor that was so clear on what to study for and how to earn a good grade in her class. You have to put the work in and study but getting a A is definitely doable. She is a great teacher and is willing to help you if you are lost. I LOVED her class, 100% would take again.
An actual saint when it comes to saving your microbiology grade. Super clear about what you are expected to know for the quizzes and midterms. Always takes the time to answer student questions and to clear up harder concepts. Even though the lab was online, she did her best to make it as interesting as possible.
I have her for my lab portion for Microbiology and even though a TA teaches us, Mrs. Wilson is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. Her grading criteria is clear, you do need to do your work but she is amazing!! Expect a Quiz before every lab, but if you listen to the pre recorded lectures you'll do great!
Had the pleasure of having her for both lab and lecture for this course. Compared to other science classes at UCF, this course is very simple in terms of difficulty. The class is very exam heavy, but they're all very straightforward as long as you study 2-3 days in advance. Wilson herself is also very sweet, explains stuff well, and cares a lot.
honestly this course is really difficult, the book you dont really need itll confuse you, especially since sometimes the information she uses dont match with the book. I did not ever attend lecture i just paid attention to schedule and religiously studied everyday. Do hw assignments on time, it is long. I only passed because of SI study guides.
in terms of college science classes, this course is a breath of fresh air. prof. wilson is very generous with extra credit, explains material very well, and makes coursework very doable. exams come straight from the powerpoint, which are very straightforward themselves. the textbook is really only necessary for the homework.
Took prof wilson for lec + lab. Lab is super easy, watch the 10-20 min lec before class and take the honor lock quiz & youll be fine. 5 lec exams, x credit pre lec quiz and homework for every chapter. Reviews practice questions in lec so you have to watch lectures ahead of time which sucks. Overall not terrible at all, lecture is just content heavy
Took Mrs. Wilson for micro lab. She is so awesome. Make sure you go to class and watch her power point lectures before taking the lab quizzes. Do well on the midterm and practical so it boost your lecture grade
She was a great lab instructor and provided very helpful videos each week. She also provided good feedback on each assignment. She didn't teach my lab, but made sure to stop in a few times which I thought was very nice.
Professor Wilson is very kind and understanding. She makes microbiology easy and fun to learn. I enjoyed having her as a professor. The workload was pretty intense considering that this was a 6 week course but if you stay on top of the material youll be ok.
Professor Wilson is very kind and explains everything you need to know for the tests. If you put in the time and study at least three days before the exam you will do good. Homework is really easy you can find all the answers right from the textbook.
Professor Wilson explains the material really well, answers questions in-depth and makes everything easy to understand. There is a lot of material to learn in a short amount of time but it is doable.
Professor Wilson was the best Professor I had this class is hard and requires hours of studying and determination but the lectures and power points are amazing and if you know the PowerPoint and can apply it then you will do well. Make sure to study hard and work for it an A is definitely possible
Professor Wilson is so sweet! She cares about her students and the class in general. Believe me when I say there are an ABUNDANT opportunities for extra credit. I got C's on the first 2 exams and was able to make an A by working harder after and extra credit. Definitely take her class!
You really get the feeling that Mrs. Wilson cares. I love her, she is so nice, and she gives great feedback on where you went wrong, helping you to correct it for the next time that topic shows up. It was really hard waking up so early, but she doesn't waste your time and is a huge reason I passed Micro. Love her, highly recommend :)
Zero communication skills. Disrespectful thinking she is the only person who should be excused and no other students have circumstances. For her lectures, i think she is a good reader, she reads slides well and in a fast way. the good thing just her exams are pretty straightforward.
This class was way better than expected. She is genuinely a great teacher & as long as you study , you will pass the test without a doubt. I suggest making quizlets after every lecture to keep up with the information.
I had Wilson for Micro lab. There is a quiz and data sheet pretty much every lab but if you watch the videos she posts for every exercise you'll do good. This class will save your overall Micro grade. She has a very appealing voice & explains everything you need to know. Lab midterm & Practical aren't to bad as long as you payed attention.
Great teacher for microbio. I think this class could be quite hard if it's one of your first college science classes, but if you put in the work you should be fine. Make sure to do the practice questions the textbook uses and study her slides/lectures well. Also don't combo this class w/anatomy, that's too brutal a combo.
I really liked her lectures and honestly the class was super easy to me. Each exam had extra credit questions so on three out of seven exams I got over 100s. I did manage to get an A on every exam, so don't worry. As long as you study, you will pass. The only problem I had was that she rarely responded to the emails I sent her.
The lab was amazing! Mrs. Wilson records lectures before each lab about what will be tested on that particular day, so as long as you go over those before youre tested, youll be solid! On the practical skills test, you get multiple attempts and only the best is graded. This was the most interesting *and* the most fun lab I think Ive ever taken.
The lab and this lecture were both interesting due to Ms. Wilson and her awesome TA's. The tests and lab test/ quizzes were very straightforward and Ms. Wilson usually hints at what questions will be on the exam. Flashcards are very helpful in this class.
She is a good professor if you already know the material - she teaches as if you know what she is talking about. Doesn't go into a lot of detail and I find myself using a lot of outside resources and watching her lectures at least 3 times each. She does hint at exam questions but there are no study guides which makes it extremely difficult.
Prof. Wilson is the BEST! I took her in summer A for 3 weeks. She is so passionate about what she does and makes it interesting for her students. During lectures she'll emphasize stuff that you should know for exams. Once you study, you'll definitely pass! 100% recommend. Take her in fall or spring though. Plus, lab is super easy and fun.
had her in summer a for 3 weeks. test questions are directly from ppts, so listen to her recordings and pay attention during lecture. her case studies are harder than ambivero's, so be prepared! don't slack off in lab! read the book beforehand bc the quizzes are easy points. lab midterm & final are similar (curved w/ 4 points). TAs are great.
As a lab instructor is very average, would participate in some sort of a few times but most if not, almost all work was made by the TA's. Also, the TAs for this semester were quite un-motivated in my opinion, went lucky with one TA but the rest simply were as doing their stuff and then want to leave. Very average in my opinion, bad mix with lecture
Very good professor. Amazing lectures and although she has a busy personal life, she is sure to compensate you for any inconveniences it may have caused.
Absolutely fantastic professor that cares a lot about her students. Lab is mandatory attendance but the lectures are via zoom or in person (although I'd always recommend going in person). Her lectures are incredibly engaging and the material is very interesting and not particularly difficult if you have semi-regular study habits. Great professor!
The class overall not bad, there was hw, an exam per section and case studies. It was very frustrating due to her personal life interfering with our grades, assignments, ect. I know if it was ran better many of us would have done better. Study on your own theres no guarantee she will be there or publish in a timely manner. DOESNT ROUND.
I absolutly love Mrs. Wilson. Her work is straight forward and she is always willing to help. Her lectures are pre-recorded videos that are 10-20min each. Just watch the lecture and do a 5 question quiz, simple. 1 midterm and a 2-part practical that helped my lec grade. DO WELL ON THE MIDTERM! It will help your lecture grade.
Mrs. Wilson a great lecturer and professor. Unlike her counterpart, Dr. A, I felt like Mrs. Wilson genuinely cared about helping her students do well in the course. The work is fair as are the exams. There are built in curves. Just study and put in some effort and you will do well.
Nicest lady ever. I wish she taught the main class instead of Ambivrio. She was very clear with what she wanted from your work. I understood all the lab results as soon as she explained them. She and her TAs were wonderful. Made lab easier and fun. 10/10.
She teaches the lab portion of micro and I wish she was the main lecturer. TAs ran my lab so I never saw her. Only downside is if you have any problems with your lab material, make sure you say something and fight for it cause the TAs and her are known to not fix the problem and it will drop your grade. She also doesn't answer her emails.
Professor Wilson knows hers stuff and made lecture interesting each time. If you have questions make sure to ask them during class because she is hard to reach outside of class. She offers lots of extra credit so take advantage of every opportunity. She doesn't create study guides for exams so you have to review each chapter. No final though!
I encourage you to go to class. What needs to know for the exam is in PowerPoint and she will repeat information multiple times. Before the exam, binge-listening to recorded lectures is helpful. Although she has RBF, she is SUPER nice and funny. Don't sleep on post-lecture quizzes! It is a big help when you did not do so well on a case study.
By far my favorite professor I've ever had. She's the nicest and most caring and only wants what's best for her students. If she makes an error on a test or case study she'll give you points back. extra credit is offered. I highly recommend going to her lectures, but even if you can't make it she posts her lectures on canvas. amazing!!!
This professor is insanely smart and fluent in the content. The only thing keeping me from giving perfect scores was the amount of technological issues present. While they werent always her fault, she made up for it, giving the students the benefit of the doubt and alternatives. The content is decently hard, the tests are super fair. She is great
Literally could not have asked for a better teacher. Microbiology is a pretty bulky course with a lottt of information, but she teaches it passionately and makes it interesting. She makes the test questions pretty straightforward and probably as easy as a class like microbiology can be. Put in the time and you will do good!
She truly cares about her students! Her lectures are well-formatted and explained in an clear manner regardless of the subject. She also offers post lecture quizzes that can contribute to replacing a case study grade, and will sometimes post extra credit assignments. All her tests are simple as long as you studied the powerpoints thoroughly.
DONT get me wrong Dr. Wilson makes microbio better with Dr. A. They also both constantly try and trick you. Dr. Wilson also refused to go over my final for this class and my unknowns project.
The class itself is fine. Pretty straight forward criteria with the occasional technical difficulties. Not always the best at working and communicating with students but not a hard a class.
This course was easily passable, an A is likely if you read the textbook & lab manual. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory, but helps filter what will be on the exams. The point/grading system is very fair with a small EC opportunity. The downside to this class was the lab, it's taught by a few TAs, who do not communicate clearly, ever.
amazing professor, she makes microbio a lot easier. her tests have built in extra credit (including lab quizzes and tests). her exams are straight forward. she's also very caring and will help you if you need it.
Easy lab, just connect content as you go and you'll be fine, flashcards help! Prof Wilson was accommodating when I had to miss lab, which I appreciated. However, each time I spoke with her, it feel like I was bothering her. I know she has a lot of students, and maybe something personal happened, but it was weird. Not great at emailing back either.
Professor Wilson was rarely in my lab (except to refill soap or paper towels). However when she was present, she was very nice and cared about the students. Her exams were very manageable with proper studying with minimal trick questions. The proctored quizzes every other day were inconvenient, but should be an easy grade boost.
I loved Professor Wilson. Her lectures were interesting, and she made them fun. I would recommend attending the lectures; she doesn't record lectures anymore, and they are engaging and informative. She implemented extra credit in our semester; if she continues to do that, it will be super helpful. Study a lot and you will be fine
She was good and exams are extremely straight forward. If you read the slides and memorize what's on the powerpoints you'll do well on the exams. Exams 2 & 4 are the hardest but not awful. Start studying the material slowly as it comes out and heavily the week following up to the test and you'll do fine. BARELY responds to emails!!!!!!
the lectures are very important to attend because that is where exam info comes from. i loved lab more it was very hands on and the lab book gives you all the information to be successful. i honestly think an A or B is manageable, i was having a bad semester hence the C but the professors are really nice & caring, you just have to do your part
Honestly preferred her format more and found the wording on tests more similar to lecture content. Pre-recorded lectures helped and also took the time to review every slide. Provided no guidance for case studies, albeit did post study guides for lab exams. Gave freebies for credit on tests which was a great grade booster.
She handled the lab portion of micro and was pretty rude most of the time. hated when students asked her for office hours and never answered her emails quickly. lab quizzes were honor lock and tested on the tiniest details. midterm and lab practicals were easy but the unknowns were a nightmare.
Lab 100% mandatory. Tests and assignments are all lockdown, but clear-cut based on the powerpoints. She does not answer her emails or do well with excused absences.
Whatever you do try not to take this class while also taking anatomy!!! I had to do this due to my major and i spent most of my time on anatomy. You have to put time into this class and do well in lab. Lab is very easy and can save your grade in the end just do well on the midterm and final.Wilson is a good professor this is just a difficult course
The class wasn't hard per se, but I took it alongside Anatomy, which made the workload near impossible to stay on top of. I would take this class again ONLY if I didn't have to take anatomy with it. The homework and content load is heavy, and there is a lot to memorize for tests. Overall, not a terrible class, but be mindful of your other classes.
Professor Wilson is incredibly sweet and caring. She's very knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge with her students. Her prerecorded lectures are extremely informative and her exams are written fairly. The straightforwardness of her material was a refreshing break from lecture. Do well in lab, it buffers and comes up in lecture!
She has a steady curriculum that shifts time to time. She is accessible in emails and in person. Sometimes spelling and calling you by the wrong pronunciations and when you correct her she continues doing it.
