FIRST OF ALL ,this is by far the worst teacher to take Bio 215 from . she grades very hard, she is not clear of what she wants from you. she doesn't give extra points and if she does it's like 1.4 points, don't take her ...i will repeat " don't ever take her" ...the average in the whole class was 70% ..don't wast ur $$ and time with her ..good luck
I agree with the person above. She is horrible. You ask her fo help & she does nothing. No extra credit. No study guides. She took points off rough drafts? She grades hard, unfairly and her tests are hard. I spend my day crying cause I stayed up till 3 am studying for this class most nights and I wasted my time and money ): final avg was a 69%. Ugh
She puts her lectures on BB & uses some of that info on tests/quizes but it's up to you to keep up w/ the book portion which will also be on the tests. You will waste alot of time on a lab journal & she expects it to be turned in on test days, u will step back into comm by doing a presentation. IF YOU CAN SWITCH..... DO IT!
She is worst teacher I ever seen her grading is unfair she will take points for nothing her test and quis are very hard she does not help you if you ask she has lab journal wich is worth 50 which is going kill all your time that you should focus studing your test and is always do exam day. please avoid her if you can or you will waste your money an
WOREST TEACHER EVER, hello I am not an average student , a have taken a number of classes and so far I have had only two B s, the rest are A s, this instructor is NIETHER capable of teaching NOR a fair one as far as treating students equally , i don?t know why CSCC would allow someone like this teacher to abuse students who is a major obstacle a
She takes points off ROUGH DRAFTS.She acts as if she wants to help and shes kind..BUT SHES NOT!She grades so hard, yet doesnt tell us what shes looking for.Quizzes&tests are hard she doesnt even tell you whatto study. She will make so much due in one day.Journals will takeup your time. PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS CLASS..she is the worst!
Worst Teacher period. do not take her class or your money and time will be wasted. again don take her class find an other teacher.
Based on posts I expected the worst. It was a difficult class but if you asked questions and payed attention you could get through it. The grading was not typical but I survived with a B and may have even learned something.
she is definately a hard grader and not always clear on how she wants things done. she posts everything on blackboard so the material is pretty much straight from the powerpoints. as much as it was a struggle to get a B in the class, I did like some of the labs.
WORST TEACHER I have ever had!!! She is not clear on what she wants and her study guides are no help for the tests. Do not take her class!!!
She is a hard teacher, but if you read the textbook in addition to her slides, you can get an A. Really all the exams come from the slides, it can be confusing, but not impossible.
She, along with Prof Singer, saved our class. Our original instructor was hospitalized two weeks before the end of the quarter. They worked hard to get us ready for the final and get everything graded. Also, Dr. Wohlgamuth was always willing to assist and answer any questions. I definitely recommend!
This was a very hard course. The quizzes & Exams were hard but the Prof did everyhting she could to help us get through them. She posted all slides & studyguides. If you use both of those it is possible to do well. She also gave a variety of different type assignments to keep the class interesting & give different points rather than just exams
I have been attending Columbus State for 1 1/2 years and I have been on the Dean's list 5 times. She is the worst teacher I have ever had and I'm sitting at 74% right now 1/4 the way through. She's not clear, she grades very difficult, and no extra credit.
THis class started out really hard. I almost dropped but I am glad I stuck with it. Prof kept a lot of the easy assignments for the end. Tests and quizzes were difficult but she would often curve and occassionally gave a SMALL amount of bonus points. Even though she was a tough prof she was really nice & seemed to really care & helped as needed
Excellent teacher, helpful when asked.
Very poor teaching ability. She is difficult to contact for help. She also doesn't seem to grasp the material all that well herself.
The further into this class I get the more I am enjoying it. My grade was low at the beginning but now that I am 3/4 thru it is much higher. She is tremendously helpful - lots of study guides, bonus points and curves. Recommend taking it and just sticking with it until the end.
Very interesting class. I would recommend not taking any other classes with this class though. It is A LOT of work. She is a tough grader but I feel like I actually learnt stuff in this class. She gives out plenty of bonus points. You just have to work for them. Power point lectures were good when it came to studying. She was very helpful.
She is a HARD grader. for example:if a question is worth 4 pts, she will grade .25 for each "part" of the question. and if it isnt exactly what shes looking for she will mark off 2.25. however there is plenty of extra credit (1-3 pts max) and the tests and quizzes basically are the exams question for question.
I loved this class. Dr WB is very helpful answers emails quickly and cares about our progress. She is a hard grader and the material is difficult but it was very interesting. she gives bonus ques and extra credit - you do have to work for it but some profs don't give any. Recommend 100%
Take nothing else because it is a full load of work and perfection is expected
she is not a good teacher at all she not clear as to what she's teaching not helpfull lectures are not explained well. just dont take her class.
This instructor was not helpful to me at all. Her labs were always rushed and her study guides were nothing to write home about during quizzes or labs. Got a D and damaged my GPA.
This was a hard class, but once I broke down and asked for help WB is being very helpful. You have to put time into the class and at times it was a LOT of work. I enjoyed it despite having to work so hard and I actually feel like I learned something I can use in real life.
HARSH when it comes to grading. Tests are difficult. Gives "bounus" questions on the tests but it's not like you will actually know the answer. No matter what I wrote down for an assignment she always left the comment of "more detail" when I couldn't possibly think of what details I had forgotten. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND.
It was the 1st time I took micro & felt she was too hard of a teacher - too much work. I am currently retaking this class & have found that I am missing her teaching style a lot. She is very approachable and down to earth. She was way better at lab then who I am taking it with now & the lectures were more interesting.Wish I would have worked harder
GREAT class this semester - hard - but there was bonus ques on every quiz and exam, we reviewed before mosts tests and she helped whenever asked! Also there was not as much busy work like there is in some of my other classes!
Shes a good teacher. Helpful, good with communication, work is not tons. Dont listen to the other people who give her poor ratings, they are idiots.
She's not that bad. The course is hard and the tests sometimes have questions that are ridiculous hard but I'm getting a B. I agree that her grading is hard but she is smart and if you study you'll get better grades. If you have no science background it WILL be very difficult for you.
I absolutely love this class, I thought it was slightly hard but easy to understand. I've learned so much from taking this class. I guess other people feel that this was pretty difficult but all learn differently.
I hated taking this class with her. If you can take it with someone else you should do so. The way she teaches and the tests and quizzes are totally different. She is a super hard grader.
She made hard exams but all the other materials helped to bring up the grade. Plus if you asked for help or went to office hours she was really nice and helped. It was my first online class and I didn't know what to expect and she helped a lot. You do have to study so be prepared for it. The first exam was a shock but she helped me figure it out.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Grading is overly harsh, exams and quizzes are difficult. Wording on labs and exams is confusing. Offers some extra credit, but don't expect it to help your grade. She will not curve or adjust points, even if most of her class is performing poorly. Lectures on material the period before an exam and expects you to have mastery!
Exams are harder than some of my classes but if you take advantage of coming to class and all the help she gives it is an interesting class that you can do well in. Just don't go into it expecting an easy A. I actually Loved it and would take the class again!
Over all a descent professor. Quizzes and exams are extremely difficult but her lectures are clear and easy to follow. Stay on track, and follow along in her lectures and you will be fine.
I actually loved this class and enjoyed WBs teaching style. She was intelligent and cared about us learning. It was hard material but interesting. Dr. WB was always willing to help if you asked and also didn't hover or nag. I would recommend this class as long as you are willing to work, you will definitely learn a LOT.
She talked on and on without making her point, her grading criteria was never specific overall difficult personality. I have to take this class again because I drop her class! Leaves blank spots in power points on purpose, why???
Be prepared to work but it was a good class, learned a bunch
Dr. WB was the hardest instructor I have had so far at CSCC. There are a lot of assignments that are low in point value. Her exams are very difficult. I would not recommend her. It did not feel like I was in an intro microbiology class! Her lectures were long and too in depth for an introductory course.
Probably the worst instructor at cscc teaching wise. She seems inexperienced and does not have good methods to teach. The material was beyond difficult and with her grading you cant get far. Gives you very hard assignments and you earn fractions of only one point so no matter what you cant do well. like .025.01 Yeah just unbelievable. DO NOT TAKE
I do not like Science but this class made it better. I have always struggled in all my science classes but the combo of the book and the organization of the class helped a ton. My first A in a science class! You have to go to class but it helps, you get extra credit, exams and quizzes were curved. If you use the study materials you can do well!
she seems good so far but post labs are apparently quizzes. quizzes n class 20-25 questions?! i just started this class this semester. shes good in the labs but for lectures it forever drags.... im scared about this class and there are assignments you have to write about something. im not in English class?
I took this online and while it was hard I got all the help I needed to succeed. Jessica was very nice and helpful if you went and asked for help. You have to put the time in but she is there to help you get through it.
I went in expecting this to be hard, and of course it was BUT she had so many study guides, practice tests, and in class assignments I could do well. I really liked the material (except for metabolism) and feel like I learned a ton. Quizzes helped prepare you for exams and exams are supposedly going to help with the final. One of the best classes I
Shes nice as a person but really tough on grading.... like seriously who gives decimal points on grades! Her test are the hardest ever! DONT take her as a professor... she never explains really what she wants for essays and group project..... her quizzes are 25 points! there is a group project worth 35 points and i recieved 31.75. like -3.25
labs are great! lectures are long!! quizzes and tests are so hard!! i would suggest not taking this class with her unless you're really smart! she is super nice but she is a tough grader....
This class was hard but she went out of her way to try and help and accommodate me when needed. IF you put in the time you can do well. Keep all materials and study from quizzes for the exams, use the study guides and powerpoints - the textbook isn't needed she only asks questions from her lectures. She gives partial credit and bonus to help out.
This class was great, she was great. I had to work hard but I learned so much. I suggest not taking any hard classes at the same time and use the materials she provides. I would highly recommend her for micro!
Super sweet and helpful, tough class but I would recommend her.
Goes too fast. Speeds through the slides. Doesn't help over all a bad teacher.
This was my first blended class so I don't have much to compare with but she made is straightforward and provided a lot to help us succeed. She responded quickly to emails and was super nice when I came to get help. Micro is tough not gonna lie but she will help you - you just have to put the time into it.
You will really have to work for a decent grade very difficult instructor
I took this class over the summer. It was super rushed and is not an easy class. Her notes Lack BIGTIME! They are not clear. I took my own notes on my print outs and that helped. WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. She is helpful if you take the class seriously. If you joke around and are lazy about everything she is going to give attn. to people that need help
She only read, she could explaing anything.
The ABSOLUTE worst professor I have ever had a Columbus State. Her point system for grades was petty. Pre-labs were worth 1.5 points for 5 questions and 2.5 points for post-labs with 8 questions. She took the smallest points off for every thing which doesn't seem much, but adds up and affects your grade big time. Overall, not a good professor.
This class is hard, I am taking it as a summer class and it goes fast but she wants her students to succeed and all you have to do is ask for help and she will re-explain over and over until you get it. She provides a lot of material to help but you have to really work for your grade. Even though the class kicked my butt I learned a ton!
Hard, but super interesting class. Listen to lectures, do the online assignments, ask questions. She is super easy to get a hold of and will help if asked!
DO NOT take her class, unless you want to get your Ph.D. in microbiology! Her class does not feel like an introductory class. Also her grading system is hideous! All The points are basically in your exams and they are EXTREMELY difficult! Very few students even get A's as she posts the class averages afterwards and highest scores.
I took her for micro this past summer. She was a hard teacher, but her class was do-able! Her lectures/ lab were interesting. While her tests required lots of studying they really were not that bad if you know the material. My advice for you is to read your notes every night. Also easy bonus point activities offered every class. This was no easy A.
Participate and come to class
I took her for an online class. Her tests are hard. You better know the material inside and out. Otherwise it will be a rough semester. At times I feel like she forgot this is an intro class, not advanced. Her tests focus on the extremely small details as opposed to making sure you understand the overall general concept.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Very tough grader and goes through so many chapters for each test. This is not an "INTRO" class. Lecture heavy. The worst part was all the pre labs and post lab questions. You will have to work everyday on this class to pass. The questions on the test focus on small details. She is a nice person though
She's really nice and caring. However, she's a really tough grader. Especially when it comes to exams you better know the material in DETAIL. The final exam is literally a KILLER, lots of material and cumulative. If you want to pass the class, study a lot, dont forget the pre-labs and post-labs, study everything in detail.
Pros: Very Organized: Clear Lectures, reminds students of upcoming Exams Extra Credit Opportunity is available if you have Questions Con. A perfectionist: deducts points for little things, Grammar, synonym used Test are not the easiest:contain little details. suggestion: Do not take other challenging courses you will Learn alot
Very difficut class but professor helped out when she saw the student trying in class. Wont pass lab if skipped 5 labs and class is optional but wont pass if you dont go since there is a lot of material to be covered.
She forgets this is an intro class. Exams are focused on very small details.
The tests were very specific and difficult - study guides were given but not all encompassing. Professor WB was an amazing professor, responded to my questions quickly and posted online lecture videos that I really appreciated. It was a nice change to take an online class that didn't require you to self-teach from the text book.
She is a pretty good professor. She really cares about her students and will help you if you ask. She answers email quickly. Once when I went to her office hours she even stayed an extra 15 minutes to help me get caught up. I will say this is a HARD class. Don't be deceived by "intro" in the title you need to have a solid chem and bio background.
Hardest class I've ever taken and she isn't as open to interacting with students as I would have liked. Her tests are beyond hard. No one could get an A. Start studying for them from DAY 1 - no joke. With that, I learned A TON. Challenging, and at times, crazy. If you're bored with school or onto grad school I'd go for it. Lazy? No way you'll pass.
I feel the need to write this only a month into the semester. Dr WB is very knowledgeable and nice, but she has a ridiculous grading system and her exams are stupidly difficult. I don't know what she's trying to prove. If I wasn't on such a tight track to finish my pre-req courses, I would have already dropped her course.
Great professor. Meticulous grader though.
This may be the most challenging college course Ive ever had (and I already have one bachelors degree!) So much work, but, in the end I LOVED it! I learned a hell of a lot. Got a good grade, but worked hard for it. She is a pro and will help you in or out of class. Shes ALL business. Re-listening to lectures online was so helpful.
I haven't finished the class yet but this is the most difficult class I've taken in a long time! The first day of class she said she would not be teaching like an intro class and expected us to spend at least 18 hours a week studying. I already have a bachelor of science and I am struggling SO MUCH. She is not helpful at all.
AVOID AT ALL COST! If you get this professor Im telling you just drop it and take somewhere else. It is not worth the stress to take this course. Impossible to get full credit on anything. Studying doesnt even help for any test, guessing has gotten me the best grades.
I took this as a blended course and it was so hard. The professor would not clearly answer my questions. She marks off on all the assignments if they are not word for word with her key. We had a test every other week and 3-5 pre/post labs due each week.
She is so smart and caring but a tough teacher. Pay attention and take her advice and you will learn a lot. work hard and dont take other hard classes at the same time. use the book at connect that comes with it - that helps. she gives good study guides and will help if you ask but not going to lie - micro is HARD.
Im 1 month into this class. She makes this class harder than it needs to be. She gives lots of busy work to do in addition to studying and reading. My first test is 2 days away and she likes to be in control. She releases course content as she is ready , no working ahead or early prep for you. Ridiculous grader. I literally lost .05 points.
Ridiculous exams and an even more ridiculous grading scale. Avoid any contact with her possible. Seriously: do not consider the "positives" that are listed by other users. You will be sorry.
Micro is hard - its a weed out class. Be careful not to take too many classes/hard classes at the same time. Dr. BW has some very interesting lectures, hard tests for sure, but she is nice, and does a lot to try and make us pass. Not sure why everyone stuggled so much - other than micro is just tough
I've been in college for years, and never have I had a professor who had such horrible tests. The class average for tests is a D despite everyone doing excellent in classwork and homework. I had to quit my second job which I LOVED to try to pass this godforsaken class. I don't know what she's trying to prove, but i would NOT recommend.
She punishes you for learning.
She is tough but you will learn so much. Shes very particular about her grading and will take off random amounts like .2 or .4 but does offer extra credit opportunities.
I would NOT recommend this professor at all. Her test is hard where she includes short answers, fill in the blank and multiple choice. You really have to study all the lecture notes and memorize vocabulary words. Participation is important especially in lecture class.
Very difficult teacher and does not really help you out. DONT take the blended option with her because you will regret it. She does not have any emotions and is the most hardest grader ever!
she is fine, get a book, watch the videos, look at the study guides and don't miss assignments
I never new about this website until now. I'm not that person who complains about professors but this one got to my last nerve. Yes,vey intelligent professor but the toughest grader ever encountered. Very hard tests and too much homework. Yes I had a B+ but still wouldn't recommend this woman. She will make you suffer! Too many dropouts! AVOID her
I was really afraid to take micro, and after reviews afraid to take it with her BUT so far this semester I have learned SO MUCH and she provides so many things to help you succeed. Plan to work hard - but that is typical for any micro - use her materials. Textbook isn't mandatory but helpful.
Horribly. Her exams are unnecessary difficult.
great so far, good study guides, great lectures, material is tough and there is alot of homework to keep track of. very nice teacher will meet 1 on 1 if needed and help you understand material
Dr. WB is 1 of the best instructors I have had, if you go to class n take notes you have all the information you need for the tests BUT the textbook is used for activities throughout the semester n is a pretty decent study tool. BUT if you don't want to fork out the money for it you can get by just fine with materials she gives. She helped me a ton
terrible professor. Shes intelligent and know the information, but 0/10 recommendation as a professor. The class is unnecessary hard for no reason. She makes the class unbearable. She grades hard and never gives full points just because. Never fully answers questions. Hard to even like the content because of her. Please save yourself the trouble.
great class, hard but I knew that going into it. She helped me so much when I would email or come to her office, never ran out of patience with my crazy questions. Use her notes, read the textbook and study the study guides she provides. a lot of work but learned so much!
Teacher is proficient in the material. Very intelligent, you COULD potentially learn if given the opportunity, BUT hardly any opportunity to learn. Lectures are very difficult to keep up with. Exams are ridiculously hard, you are overwhelmed with homework, pre labs, current labs, and post labs all at one time! HIGH STRESS class, not recommended.
She was good at teaching the material but there is just so much. If you dont study a lot dont expect to pass.
HARD CLASS but she is good at explaining things. The course is somewhat standard and someone up to the prof so I am not sure what is what but I know that Dr. B could always simplify things to help me understand. There was a lot of work so get a planner and be good at sticking to a calendar. A book is helpful but not necessary.
TERRIBLE. She reduces a random number of points, tests are EXTREMELY difficult; a lot of assignments, tricky questions. She does not want us to succeed. No matter how hard we try, seems like it is impossible to make it. I will complain to the chairperson. She should not be teaching. She only causes stress and anxiety. DO NOT EVER TAKE HER CLASS.
The material she provides does not help to prepare for the exam: study guides are not helpful. Exams are more than difficult. I read all the required literature for the course and still had no idea what to answer. She makes microbiology unlearnable, she does not want us to learn. I have a 4.0 GPA, but she removes any desire to study for her class.
The toughest grader I've ever met. I took this class hoping I will enjoy it, but she made it unbearable. I had to drop my other classes in order to pass and it still did not help. She really forgets it's an intro level class. I feel like I'm writing an exam to get into a PhD in Microbiology at Harvard. NEVER taking her, highly NOT recommended!
Tough grader, not helpful. I am very disappointed that the teacher hates the students so much. She never gives full credit, no matter how hard you try. Don't take her class unless you have 3 degrees: in Biology, Chemistry and Microbiology.
Terrible
Dr. WB is such a nice person and really makes herself available to her students. Go see her during offic ehours or email her and she will be super helpful. Attendance in lab is mandatory, in lecture it isn't really mandatory but it makes it super hard if you aren't there. Use her materials and activities to study and you will be good
She makes the class more difficult than it should be. I am beyond overwhelmed, especially with her grading system. Do not recommend
This was a pretty rough semester but Dr. WB was available anytime - night, weekend, etc - to answer my questions. She did 1 on 1 sessions with me when I asked and provided the class with a lot of material to help us get through. Get the textbook - with connect - and use her notes and guides. It is a hard class but she helps you learn so much!
I had a horrible experience with her. Unreasonably tough, reduces points over nothing, the material she provides do not match with material tested on the exam. You somehow need to find the information yourself and make sure you cover more than enough in order to have a good grade on the test. No way I am ever taking a class with her again
Professor WB makes the class more complicated than it should be. It's already a difficult subject, but why overcomplicate? She does not provide a good feedback on your job, so you don't really know how to do the work right. You just complete the assignment and hope it works, but usually, you get points off for the smallest details.
Dr. WB makes the class more difficult than it already is and expects way to much from you and does not put the effort to help. She takes off points for the smallest things and does not provide feedback. Every time you do a lab youre always second guessing because you dont know exactly what she wants.
Unreasonably difficult tests in a very limited time. She reduces points for nothing. You need to find the information on your own and make sure that you cover more than enough to obtain an intermediate score in the test. she makes the material more difficult than how it is. I had a terrible experience with this Prof. NOT recommended at all
I never failed a class in my whole life, but this class was ridiculous, it made me feel completely worthless. No matter what I did Dr. WB would deduct points. NO MATTER WHAT. Study guides did not line up with the exams, I wrote all lectures word for word and it helped 0. I read every chapter and highlighted as I went. It was all useless. Terrible
The professor does not understand what students might be going through. That would probably be one of the most difficult classes you've ever taken. I finished the semester and I am happy I'm never going to see her again. Horrible experience, avoid at all cost, you were warned!
She makes business by selling her books. I wish she cared more about students, not making money. Professor WB is an intelligent woman, but she is not a good teacher. She discourages students to learn by tough grading criteria, unclear expectations, and lack of feedback. I don't know what she is trying to prove, but it makes life way too difficult
Very knowledgable on the subject material, for this I cannot fault her. However the workload was just excessive, unnecessarily so. I found myself always drowning. Despite allocating by far the greatest amount of time this module, my grades always underperformed relative to other classes. Not a fair marker. We need consistency across professors.
I think, if she wasn't so astutely retentive to being so judgmental, and instead worked on being more encouraging to her students, she would maybe have gotten a better grade from me. And the better grade would only be because it was online. She didn't respond to e-mails as the semester went out. She was hypercritical instead of caring. Get her out.
prof WB is a cold, unhelpful tough grader. Horrible experience.
I have a full load this summer & completely appreciate how Prof. WB has the online course set up and all the materials she provides that set us up for success. She responds to emails quickly, will do 1 -1 call with me when I need them and her live sessions are so helpful. Labs are the absolute worst part but those are standard. Get the book it help
great choice for micro if you actually want to learn - a lot of homework so not an easy A but Jessica is nice, helpful, and provides so many different study aids to help you. Very helpful for nursing, connected things to my other classes (biochem, pathophys, etc) - can't wait to put this info to use
the expectations are not clear. the toughest grader I have ever experienced. not helpful. you are on your own in this class: prepare to educate yourself. do not recommend
Bad teacher, everyone stuggles in this class, tests are tough and the questions she ask are hard to answer
She is also not the most prompt with posting assignments but will still expect you to have them finished at the initial due date. For example, will post homework assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Friday when it is supposed to be posted on Monday(according to the syllabus) so we can at least start working on it.
Prof is positive, responsive, and goes out of her way to remind you of what you should be doing and what assignments are due. The course is HARD but I don't think thats her fault, she tries to simplify by using analogies, going over examplse giving study tools/materials. Don't take other hard classes at the same tiem, get the book, and go to class.
I am loving this class, a friend is in another section & is miserable. I would recommend dr Bw any day - Gives alternates for live calls but go if you can they are so helpful! Dont worry about getting the book if you take notes with the videos you will be fine. Theres a lot of tests but if you use the study guides & keep them nearby you will beok
The workload is overwhelming. She can can reduce a grade by a fraction of a point. Doesn't really say what her expectations are. Sometimes it feels like no matter how much you work you are not going to get a good grade anyway. Very demotivating
If you have to take micro be prepared it is hard. It will take a lot of your time but I appreciated the organization of the class, the flexibility in live classes available, an the understanding Jessica had when life got in the way. She motivatied throughout class even though it was a LOT of work and hard material. Goes well with phys and biochem
Main concern is that to pass this class you are going to have to attend most sessions especially online. This class originally was supposed to have lectures two days a week for roughly three hours. However she decided to have a lecture everyday instead of following the schedule. Now I have to play keep up while maintaining my job and family life
She is really nice, we were only supposed to have class twice a week, but we have class 4 times a week. There are enough lecture videos we have, and now 4 extra hours of live class. I can't get 100% on anything. When she says "Graded for completion" be careful. It's not, it is graded for accuracy. Also, she takes random points off, like .10.
Horrible experience. Prof thinks we have only her class in the world. The workload is excessive. I am ready to work hard, but with her the criteria are not clear, you always guess if that's what she wants. VERY tough grader. I have never had more demotivating experience than with her. If you need to take this class try to chose someone else
very tough grader, not understanding, too much homework/readings/ assignments It's just too much. Plus, reduces points over nothing. strongly do not recommend
The behavior of Prof WB really does not reinforce studying. After working so hard you still get not a very good grades, you burn out and loose motivation. At some point I just started listening to the lectures, write notes, it was just too much without a reward. She punishes you for learning. with prof WB I'm majoring in quizlet and course hero.
Don't read to the positive feedbacks, I don't know who's writing them. Run while you still can. Do not take her class.
Terrible experience, prof WB spoiled my grade, she is unnecessarily tough when it comes to grading and tests. Science classes are hard already by itself, but it seems like she enjoys when students are not doing well in the class. Don't know what she's trying to proof, but definitely would not recommend.
jessica is the absolute worst professor ive EVER had. forget a good grade. she takes off points for NOTHING! a fraction of a point for nothing. she holds lectures everyday at weird times when class is only suppose to be 2 days a week. doesnt explain things well at all. she will give you 20 minutes to take a 50 question exam with extended response
Jessica helped me get through this really tough semester. She always responded to my emails no matter when I sent them and how stupid the question was. She was supportive all semester and gave us lots of materials to help us succeed - tests were brutal BUT I think those were standard tests. Study homework & lecture notes and go to live sessions!
Get ready to teach yourself Too much material in too little time Has two finals for this class in the same finals week Is a petty point taker
This teacher was 100% unrealistic about time spent outside of class. She had 4-5 online sessions a week that she expected you to go to at different times. Didn't have any care/respect for things going on outside of her class. She essentially didn't even give you enough time to read each question on the exams. Expected too much. Don't do it.
I took 4 classes in the fall and out of all of them Dr. WB had the most organized BB course, I knew where everything was and what to do each week. She also had the best live sessions -so helpful -not mandatory but GO - they help so much. Textbook wasn't really needed if you watch the videos and take notes. The labs and exams were hard but standard
This class is no joke - theres so many assignments but Jessica was so organized, amazing at communicating and keeping us all on track. She was motivating and nice. Its just such a hard class! Use the book and use the study guides. Pay attention to activities she does and the discussion boards -those usually are short answer questions on tests
This professor takes off point for the littlest things. Her exams are unrealistic. She gives you 9 minutes to answer 6+ EXTENDED response questions and expects them to be in complete sentences. Also 20 mins for a 50 question exam. She doesnt care if you email her about any concerns. Shell respond with an email blaming you in a way.
Dont waste your time with this professor. Her grading is unreasonable. You can study 24/7 and still get points of for no reason. Her exams times are ridiculous. She doesnt care if you have something going on (life/other class). Dont read the positive reviews and schedule this class with another professor. Save your time and gpa.
This class had a lot of assignments but the benefit was if you remembered to do them they always brought up your grade. Tests were hard but followed study guides and practice tests. Group work during live sessions would often end up as short answer questions in tests. If you take good notes no textbook needed even if she said it is required.
This course is hard, theres alot of homework and taking this virtually is NOT ideal. Out of all classes since COVID I felt Jessicas presence more than any other profs an she tried hard to keep us going all semester. She gave other ways to earn attendance and accepted late work which helped me on several occassions. ask for help - she is vry willing
Horrible professor! Don't read positive feedbacks, she is writing them herself. She only spoiled my grade by having unrealistic expectations. It took me 15 hours/week to study for her class and I still didn't get an A.I am graduation CSCC and in 2 years she is the only class where I got a B. She takes pride in students not doing well in her class
I took this class in the summer so it was accelerated. Every 0.1 point mattered in this class. If its possible I would take it with someone else and most definitely not in the summer. Tests are almost impossible. Very harsh grader. The comprehensive final wasnt too bad because it was department made.
the worst prof ever. idk what she is trying to proof, she is really harsh on students. i feel sorry for her. never take her class
Between the resources she gives and all the reminders over and over, as well as bonus questions and activities you get a lot of help in this class. It is hard for sure but I liked her organization and effort she puts in to help us succeed. I recommend not taking this with other hard classes - and do it In person which I hear is better!
The professor is unnecessarily harsh on grading, too many assignments, a lot of open answer questions on tests and you just don't have time to even read everything properly. She does not realize we have other classes. Unrealistic expectations. overall really negative demotivating experience. Save your nervous system and pick a different professor
It looks like the prof had a hard time at her school and decided to make life harder for everyone else lol. unnecessarily demanding, almost no one gets an A for any of her assignments, no matter how much you prep. the requirements are not clear, can reduce points for not putting a semicolon in a citation page, very picky. do not recommend big time
I have never had a teacher like her. This subject is not easy to learn and she doesn't give enough examples for the homework and the paper . She grades so hard, seems like when your trying your hardest she takes off points for the simplest things. Also her test are long with not enough time to complete them. 0/100 wouldn't recommend.
No matter how hard you try - you are never going to get it right. She would reduce 0.25 points for not putting a dot in the references of a power point presentation that's worth 2 points total lol. really tough grader. All of my classmates struggle, only 1 student has got an A and it was a person who was retaking the course for the 2nd time
I took this course with online lectures and in person labs. I liked the set up although would have liked more group interaction in labs. The course itself is hard and there are a lot of tests but Jessica was great to work with, stayed after lab if needed, and planned activities and homework to help us on our tests. There is a comprehensive final.
Terrible professor. Ignore the positive comments, she is writing them herself lol. Very tough grader, unrealistic expectations, does not care about personal circumstances, grades harshly. Your exam will have 120 questions with multiple choice, short answer, T/F, and a short essays. Prepare to see A LOT of "WTF" questions that were never covered.
this prof hates students, really passive-aggressive. At first seems nice and carrying but grades so harshly like I'm a PhD candidate and not taking an intro to microbio. She forgets it's an intro level course, everyone in the class is complaining about her. If you could take it with someone else - I strongly advise.
harsh grader, test and lecture heavy. You will not have time to breathe during class, every second she'll be providing the information you will be tested on. Even the information she does not provide - you will still be tested on it. she is unreasonable, forgets what it means to be a student and thinks we don't have other commitments except BIO
if you care about your grades - better take it with someone else. Prof is proud that many students drop her class, but the truth is: maybe there's something wrong with her teaching techniques seeing that many people decide to drop, and not because they are not smart enough to handle it. Those dropouts are smart enough to actually NOT chose her
She acts like students have no other classes, the work load she gives you makes you feel like you can’t breathe and she doesn’t teach at all. she has 1+ hour long lectures but none of it is on the test so there’s no other way to learn. she’s horrible
VERY HORRIBLE TEACHER. TAKES GRADING VERY SERIOUSLY. WOULD NEVER EVER EVER TAKE THIS CLASS AGAIN. PLEASE BE AWARE.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. VERY TOUGH GRADER
Micro is hard, but Jessica met w/me any time I asked, responded to my endless email questions &offered weekly recitations that were so helpful. While there was assigned reading listening to her lectures was more helpful than any reading. Exams required studying but if you used her resources & put the work in it was doable. Ask for help, shes willing
Terrible professor. Completely unrealistic expectations, seems to be proud that everyone struggles. Seems polite at first but don't be fooled by it, she's there to mess up your grade even if you work hard. Too much homework to the point where you're drowning. Honestly more people should complain about her. 0/10
Not a good professor when it comes to helping her students when they are struggling.
Biology is not my thing but Dr. B made it doable. Points for taking notes, points for doing labs, lots of reminders, late work accepted. Just tests were hard. Mostly lectures but she made class go by fast by not being boring
It was biology taught at a level that anyone could succeed. You got points for taking notes, two lowest quizzes dropped, some extra credit assignments. If you study at all its super easy to get an A.
took this class where lab was in person & lecture was all online. She had a clearcut organization on how to go through the material - videos, activities, &readings. It was a lot of work but I knew what to do when & felt it was clear what to learn. tests were hard because there's so much to learn in the class. She was nice though and always helped
She was great; it was just that she graded notes, so make sure you take notes and study.
not hard to get an A, she grades notes, assigns groupwork, weekly quizzes but you drop lowest ones. Tests are pretty hard but many questions are straight from quizzes, homework or study guides so as long as you study those you can get As
Hard tests but straight forward blended class. Labs went by so quick. She answered questions when I asked. Learned a lot.
Tests were hard but she pretty much gives you what type of questions will make up the major points on tests if you pay attention (homework questions, study questions). She gives extra credit opportunities and the bb setup was easy to follow. Answers emails quickly. made time to meet with me when I needed it. If u have to take micro - solid choice
Easy class, grades notes, gives exta credit, quiz questions end up being on the exams. Class is optional but there's a quiz or test every week, days there's not a quiz or exam there's usually group work for homework or bonus. Solid choice
I am currently taking the web version of this course. I knew exactly what to do every week, was reminded of graded work constantly &overall this was a very easy class. The labs were the most time consuming - you do them online with a different site n some of the content was tricky - just cant wait til last minute - but her reminders help with that
The blended course was great, the pace for the entire semester is laid out right from the start, its alot of work but she is really encouraging about getting it done. The labs are 1x a week and are sometimes super busy but she is laid back about it and lets students go at their own pace. It is an interesting class (I am a nursing major)- recommend
Lots of assignments to boost your grade. if you pay attention to activities and practice questions and things she reviews she directs you to what questions will be on the tests. She is quick to email you back and helps when needed. Tests make up 50% of the grade though so you have to study. Labs were very fast paced but you learn a lot with them.
she is a good choice, busy labs, hard tests but if you pay attention to what she hints at its easy to get an A, lots of chances to redo quizzes, she points out important topics that she will test you on, extra credit opportunities etc.
She is so nice and knows her stuff, I loved her and the class was interesting - I could connect it to my job often but its so hard
Hell naw, do not take this prof if you wanna keep your sanity
very tough grader, made class unnecessarily difficult and reduces points for minor things. 0/10 would not recommend
Lots of work. "Guided notes" packets worth nothing above 3points. This class was based around test. Final was 260pts and the other 3 test were about 150pts. Nice professor but the workload is ridiculous! If you are taking any classes other than this one, DONT TAKE IT!
Horrible
The web class was straightforward. Dr. WB was very present sending tips an reminders, keeping me going and helping me not to forget things. Homework and lessons were easy. Labs at home took the longest amount of time - they weren't really hard just time consuming. It was worth it to not drive into campus in the end the class as a whole was easy
She was nice and very responsive but the class was hard. I worked my butt off but got an A. If you take her pay attention to her materials - she points you to what questions will be on exams. Lots of exam points so you have to memorize a lot. If you aren't a good test taker don't take her but I learned a lot and I loved her organization
Absolutely horrible professor. I don't know who hurt her but lectures/tests are unforgiving and so many assignments with very little point for them lol just why man. Learning does not have to be so stressful
She is a good choice, textbook isn't really needed, attendance in labs is required but you can miss up to two and be ok. Tests are hard but she gives study guides.
Just terrible
Prof. Wohlgamuth-Benedum runs a challenging but rewarding blended course. Tests are tough, but she provides helpful guidance and extra credit opportunities. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for my study prep. Overall, a solid choice if you're willing to put in the work.
Straight forward class, some videos, some ibreractive lessons, homework and quizzes - one midterm and one final - if you keep track of due dates easy to get the as, don't waste money on textbook - her lessons and study materials have everything you need
If online theres alot of work you have to do on your own but she uses recorded lectures and is great at explaning things simply. sometimes the videos are long and slow so speed them up. Tests are hard but the studyguides and practice questions cover the majority. i loved it and connected it to work - the best part so worth it and she is so nice
This was the most present teacher in an online class I have ever had. The online class took a minute to get used to but by the end of the semester I loved it and wished more of my classes were like that. There are a LOT of points on exams and they are hard but if you use the studyguides, guided notes and study activities you can get the A
For an online biology class this is a solid choice. No book, just online lessons, weekly homework that you keep taking u til it's an A and then a quiz from home. You get frequent emails and reminders which helped remind me. One mid term and one final . I hate science but this was doable.
Good choice
Ther is so much content in this class and exams are tricky but if you use the study guides and the guided notes you can do well. I loved her communication- I always knew what to do and when to do if. I was also always to get ahold of her when I had questions and she was helpful when asked.
prof makes it harder then it needs to be for students she was asked to post extra slides to help students she refused then when I took a pictures she made a scene. isn't helpful at all I took blended and spent at least 10 hours a week studying to still end up with a B. The final exam has thing NEVER talked about I only passed bc I took biochem
Not sure why the rating is so low - I will be finishing above 100% in this class. Its a lot of content but stick with the schedule and use the recommended resources and its easy to get As on everything. She will help you if you ask. I learned a lot for nursing. Recommend 100%
Dr WB made this class enjoyable and I learned so much from her and this course over the semester. The material covered was a lot, but she made it clear what was on the tests. I can't wait to take microbiology with her
I took online - wish I took in person - she was very clear and kind but I just couldn't bring myself to watch video recordings. I understook things when she explained them during labs or office hours I just procrastinated - so if you are like me go for in person. Dr. WB though is great - hard tests - part memorization, part applying, lots of help
Very tough class, and she acknowledges it too. Class started with 22 people, ended with 12. Don't take the condensed summer class if you can help it. If you think you've studied enough for an exam, you're probably wrong. Exhaustive class, but use her outside of class, she is helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions; it may save your grade.
She is a nice person and makes a lot of sense when explaining things. I liked to meet 1 on 1 with her so try that out. Tests are hard so you need to study but I found if you study with her it's pretty straight forward
I loved Dr. WB she gave us good examples and explained this so good. She is a great help in her office when preparing for exams. Tests are super hard BUT she essentially gives you what will be on there you just have to study it. Labs are my favorite. low pressure, just for the experience, but make sure your on time and come prepared.
Class was fine if you have a strong biology background and either have a lot of time to prep for exams are willing to hardcore cram a couple days before. The tests are definetly super dense, and heavily memorization-based, but all the information is in the review lecture videos. The textbook isn't necessary.
Dr. Jessica made a scary class like micro doable. Good Blackboard set up there were lots of extra materials. videos were long but gave you exactly what you needed for tests. Labs were best. they connected to class well. it was so interesting. She was great and helpful when asked. It is a time commitment so be careful not to take too much
I loved her as person, and you could tell she loves microbiology. The class is so hard. Lots to do but I liked her weekly emails and reminders. 5 Big tests - But she gave a ton of study materials, practice quizzes, and study guides. I didn't use the book just her videos and guided notes and did just fine
