Show interest, then she lets little things slide, gives exam hints as well
Shes pretty nice, interesting class
good teacher, pretty easy, easy tests, nice
Easy teacher, nice, and helps students
lectures a lot, lots of hand outs, study or die
nice teacher, fair marker, pretty interesting
No Comments
She offers lots of personal anecdotes to spice up class-encourages discussions.
I enjoyed her class, fair marker and easy going
Good prof, fair prof, alot of work but i would take her again.
good teacher, do the reading and tests are no problem
Beware of the stupid multiple crap choice crap exams.....other than that.....shes cool
Very interesting. Easy going teacher and very nice. Take her if you enjoy crim courses.
good prof. A little stingy in the marks dept. though. I would take this class again. Tests are some what of a poor format.
Nice teacher, probably was attractive back in the day... ;) good tests, lil stingy on the marks, but gives U the information U need. Also gave out a study guide, so U can't complain about low marks... I would take her again.
Well, the class i had with here, the material was pretty hard. But she was a nice teacher
Kewl teach, is understanding, very helpful, would take her class again. Just if it's a morning class, drink lots of coffee! oh, and take notes and read the chapter.... I guess that's all...
good instructor, tends to add a bit of humor to her lectures. Exams are sometimes hard, but if you read the chapters and take good notes, it shouldn't be a problem. Oh and don't ****her off, cause if looks could kill...
pretty easy teacher. not too much work, gives sample?'s for exams. marks pretty easy.nice and funny 99% of the time. i would want her for ALL of my crim classes if possible!
she aint a good teacher....her tests are not what she talks about in class she never helps and she always babbles on about nothing
cool teacher but dont be fooled by her multiple choice and her easy going attitude. just coz she acts easy does not mean she is. study for tests and study what u think wont be on the exam she goes for the small ones
A very nice prof. She has a lot of interesting things to say. A lot of group work though. Her m/c questions are killers but just have to read the text & notes. The essay project is okay but she marks it fairly easy. Final was decent.
can be hard, makes the material interesting
Her notes are not very good...she doesn't seem to care about the students. She never took the time to explain about her exams so most of the students didn't even know what to expect...you can tell that she's not very organize
ah... B*tch... gives us crap for going to the bathroom!! we're PAYING to go to class so why should she care if we need to go to the bathroom or not!? shes rude to her students, and never goes over exams. DONT TAKE HER
an amazing woman! always cheerful, always intelligent, very human and carefully combines legal theory with human morality and emotion...her tests are hard, but i strongly recommend her...

Nice teacher, not very hard either. Just study a bit and an A should be no problem.
nice prof...helpful..groups works..very fair marker...study questions provided for exams....interesting class..
awesome teacher, easy and helpful, i would highly recommend her to others.
such an awesome teacher..you really really want to take her..her marking is sort of tough, but always fair though..you will learn so many interesting and practical things in her class...be sure to take her if you can
Very average. I found the classes pretty boring but it could have been worse.
I choose to take jessie, she is an awesome teacher. She is a fair marker and always tries her best to help the student as much as she can. There is always an underatnsing with her. She is pretty for an older women.
BORING, BUT NICE. HORRIBLE NOTES, BUT NICE. HORRIBLE MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAMS, BUT NICE.
Very Interesting Teacher, Good Notes, you actually do learn something. Hard tests, but mostly its from the text and notes. she gives you study guide questions, and sometimes the essay question before hand.
She's a nice woman and very approachable. Her class can be boring and at times confusing. Tests are hard so only take her if you like a challenge!~
average teacher.
Very nice lady. Pretty easy % lenient marker for assignments. Notes are all over the place. Exams are quite difficult. Class is very boring, but Jessie Horner is a VERY VERY nice lady.
Awful lecturer;tests are rididculous.Term paper is a fake case;you have to research crim code and write like an essay as either Crown,Judge or Def Heaven help you if you're EVER late on an assignment.Horrible teacher!Don't take unless you are a masochist
If you didn't do well in her class dont blame her, you probably have no cerebral activity whatsoever. If you think her tests are hard then study instead of complaining about how she isn't breast feeding you.
Jessie is a really nice teacher, but unfortunately her class is somewhat difficult and boring. It's not THAT hard, but it can get confusing since her notes are kind of all over the place. However, she is v. understanding when it comes to marking hardexams
She's a great teacher. If you do your work, you'll ace her class. For those students who talked negatively about her, it's most likely because you act like you're in high school and it's college, so word of advice, grow up.
she is dammm selfish lady..she nevered helped me properly during office hours...NVER TAKE HER..SHE SUCXX
Very cheerful prof. she likes to crack jokes which is always nice. Course is a average in difficulty but nothing you can't handle if you do the readings and pay attention.
i think she is an awful teacher. perhaps she is nice enough but she is the most boring person i have ever met, and i didnt find her the slightest bit helpful. dont take her- shes horrible. final mark was a B+
She's nice and provides good notes. Printouts to go along with lecture always on the AOR. Class is really boring though. Tests are hard. Have to really study through the mounds of notes. Two tests. One major project: researching for, and presenting a mock trial.
She's very organized and very intelligent. Lectures can sometimes be boring, but she tries not to be too serious. Very good class. Lots of work tho, but if u actually wanna get a good grade, its worth it. Highly recommend her!!!
very nice tetacher...class can be dry, but not as bad as some people say it is...
well to the comment that regarded the students who felt jessie was a bad teacher..i've got one thing to say...u can't say we got no cerebral activity watsoever.my GPA is 3.7 and i got a C in her class i am a very intelligent person..i bet u bribed her to give u marks speak for urself not others
You can do well in this class if you do the readings. She's really thorough in explaining concepts. You can get an A+ if you do the assignments and read the material.
DRY DRY DRY!!! If you are looking for legal texts, handouts and dull lectures, she's perfect. Not approachable!! Classes are pretty easy if you go...but god help those who have to sit through it! Non applicable learning...memorize and regurgitate...that's it. Useless for those who seek innovative learning!
shouldnt have taken it
Jessie Horner knows her stuff. Her tests are tough but very straight forward and easy if you read the book and attend class. Her lectures can be dry and the assignments are very involved; your grade will reflect your dedication to the course and the material.
She is a good teacher, but the material she teaches it quite dry. The easiest way to get a good mark in her class is to attend and do the work assigned, even though it is difficult to find interest in doing so. She teaches a lot from the text if you need to read things yourself to understand them.
really nice teacher, i had morning class with her & could never keep my eyes open, basically all lectures.if u listen its quite interesting tho.wasted money on the book we needed for her class,I tried to read it & found it difficult to understand, so i stopped reading it. good thing is shes straight up with what wants in her exams and is mostly m/c.
One of the better profs I've had at Kwantlen. The topic matter wasn't all that interesting, but she did a good job of keeping things fun. Kinda quirky, and very knowledgeable. Pretty heavy on group work, that's my only real complaint. I'd definitely take another course with her.
The material can be boring if you're not already interested in the subject and even if you are, it's hard to sit through a 3 hour class without getting tired. Could be more clear with expectations... ask ?'s because she is knowledgeable. She's kind of quirky but it makes the class fun. If you study and spend time on your assignments you'll do well.
Can be boring ...but you will learn alot..and its not hard..to get an A if you just study
She has high expectations because it is a 4th year class, therefore the course load is a little heavy and material was pretty dry. but a good teacher, super nice and helpful when needed extra help or clarification.
The teacher is kind. However, the class may tend to get a bit boring. There isn't much work that needs to be done in the class and she's an okay marker.
very nice, kind teacher. classes however are really boring. tests are hard and there is lots of homework. bring a laptop to play games, cuz she doesnt stop talking about nothing
She's really nice and tests are fairly easy.. that being said her notes aren't always the greatest so use her study guide to do well on the test (the questions are one and the same as the test).
Mrs. Horner is a wonderful teacher! The workload is not excessive and she is a fair marker. As long as any student keeps up with their readings and understands the concepts she teaches, it should be simple to pass her class.
Legal systems in general is a very boring course. I took it because it was required but Horner was a nice lady. She does expect everyone to do their readings very regularly. Her exams are kinda difficult but they are M/C. She does give practice questions but there are like 40 for each chapter. Like I said material is very blan
She is a great teacher, super nice and easy to talk to. Class is fairly boring but she tries to make it fun. Only 2 exams in the course, lots of MC and she gives out study guides prior to the exams. One annoying thing: group projects. Easy marks, but irritating getting together in groups for 40% of the overall mark. She's great, I'd take her again.
good prof, class tends to get boring at times. Fair marker, use the study questions for her tests!
Pretty good prof whether u enjoy what the course is intended for or not. She teaches it in a pretty good way, and tries to make it interesting. Overall: i would take her again.
Very nice lady, really knows what she is talking about. Seems a tad unorganized but overall she was helpful. Easy marker on everything EXCEPT exams! Don't blame her for being boring - the content of the material isn't the most entertaining. Two group projects - in my opinion one is enough.
she teaches very well,a bit boring at times, she is a very nice lady and she marks hard on tests and her assignments are very easy.
she is great prof, but the class is little bit boring. exams are not very hard. overall she is ok
GREAT professor, really knows law and is willing to take the time to explain it to the class. Super smart, puts a lot of effort into teaching and expects the same from her students. If you're into law, by all means, TAKE HER CLASSES
Jessie is very knowledgeable about her field. The material she teaches is very dry; however, she tries to incorporate interesting cases. She posts study guides online which are very useful for exams. All the exams are multiple choice. Don't really need the textbook. Overall, a good professor but a boring class.
Super nice and super helpful, but you HAVE to read the text. And the study guides are really helpful in boosting your exam grade! Attendance on in class activities will give you an automatic 10% so show up to class! I wouldn't say it's an easy class but if you keep up with the semi- heavy work load you'll do great!
The group assignments in her class I though was the most interesting part. Other than that her class was really boring. In fact, a lot of her lectures I found irrelevant to the exam. Just read the text and remember what you can. Do the study guides and you will pass. She doesn't explain her exam (as in the spring 2014 she changed the format).
Very knowledgeable about case law. Provides study guides- which are great for studying for her exams. Too many group projects required in her class.
Nice person in general. Essay questions on tests are not clear at all, with many discrepancies. Readings are long and tough and the tests are worth so much, which makes studying extremely frustrating. Lectures are long and boring, with meaningless pps. Obvious she puts very little time to organize class. Once again her essay qs are SO VAGUE.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I have her this semester and it's the worst. Please do not take this class, save yourselves. All of her classes are unorganized, she is never prepared, her pps are a mess, she wrote the book but it makes no sense, she isn't straightforward with what is actually on the test and is very vague with her essays and assignments.
she is not organized at all. hands out a lot of papers on case briefs 3 days before she would use it. pointless class. i haven't learned anything in this class. i didn't buy the textbook. group work presentation is so vague. she uses her own political opinion with her nonsense lectures.
Her teaching is very clear, love how she tries to engage with the class instead of just provide dull lectures. Tries to get in a few group projects. She Marks assignments and tests pretty easily. Would take again!
THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! if you are looking for a good crim teacher and want to learn something, then this is not the class for you. Class goes by so slowly and her lectures are unbearable. she makes you buy her text book which sucks..i guess she makes money off it. Awful. Worst prof that i have ever had. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DONT TAKE IT
I really enjoyed her class. Her textbook is confusing at first, but after a few lectures I understood the topics a lot better. Her lectures are easy to understand, posts them online as well. The case briefs assignments were a little vague, but overall doable. Law is a dry topic, but her enthusiasm for it made me enjoy it a lot more. I recommend her
Jessie is a sweet heart. Although her tests are hard and her criteria for projects is vague, she is still a great teacher! She tends to get off topic a lot and she gets distracted easily. If you want to do well on the tests study the study questions she posts for each chapter. You need to work for your grade, it wont be handed to you.
Jessie's notes and lectures are too UNORGANIZED. she's all over the place in her lectures. She would jump from talking about one chapter to another. She talks about a lot of things unrelated to class and would not talk about the important things like explaining what the assignments and projects are or what she expects from it. biggest regret ever!
Jessie is overall a really nice teacher but she's a really hard marker and she doesn't make much sense during her lectures. Although she is really sweet, its hard to learn much in this class. You really have to work for a decent grade but don't expect much. Her text book is soooo boring. Not even worth buying. I haven't used it once.
Do not know how she became a teacher. Her tests are hard, homework was difficult, I attended every single class and kept up with readings. It is either her way or the highway. just because she was once a lawyer, doesn't mean she knows everything. don't recommend this class at all!
Probably the clearest grading criteria -- literally tells you the rubric for the assignments. Any lost marks, you'll know exactly why (predictable). Course load was above-average but if you like the material the time flies by and the flip side is you'll learn an above-average amount too. Also really nice, and kind of old school ) Show respect.
She gives great feedback, and you can tell she is very knowledgeable! However, and I'm not sure if this was her first online course, but there was group work every week (with a final proj). Which is fine, but it being a 100 level course and online it was very difficult to get group members motivated enough to attend class or to work on group work.
If you are not a reading-interested student, I am pleased to suggest you not to take her. At least to me, Jessie is caring and knowledgeable in teaching lectures. I respect her. But her assignments really requires you to put efforts on reading her textbook. Also, better pray yourself to be in a good group cuz lots of group works are awaiting you.
Jessie is probably one of the most unorganized professors I have ever had. Her lectures are put together in the most confusing way possible and she repeats herself constantly in her book. You're better off using Google to research the constitution and charter during this class. Wouldn't take her class again if my life depended on it
