He's very nice guy. his teaching is easy to understand. there's no hw, tests are take-home test. he also gives you sample questions before midterm and final which are very helpful.

Carbonell is awesome! easiest math class you'll ever take and he's pretty cool too! the only thing u do all semester are a couple take home tests...u dont really have to show up but you'll want to after you hear his sexy accent! very cool, helpful, easy and VERY leniant on turning in work.

Incredible teacher. He explaines well. Answers all your questions,until you get it. He uses different examples until you understand the concept. Very patient.Stays after class to help you. Gives no homework,and if he does,than he wont collect it. The best part is that he gives take-home tests.

OMG!! This class is every college students dream!! No homework, doesnt take attendance, not even from the first day, take home tests, no final, doesnt care if u come or not. The best teacher I ever had in math! So clear, goes step by step, explains many times, answers every question clearly. Doesn't take attendance, but if you want an A, don't miss his classes. Everything he teaches is on final. I highly recommend him.

While I would like to say this man is a good professor, I cannot. He will help you whenever possible and is great at explaining, but I just cant get over the fact that he let our class alone during tests, while the entire class, excluding myself cheated. I had an A going into the final and got a C..he said that i got a 56 on the final, which is a C

This guy was sooo chiiiill.. he would come to class late.. take home tests.. attendance wasn't even necessary.. but I went to class.. You gotta really study your ass off for the final.. because since it's a take home test most students don't really listen to his lectures. He knows his stuff though.. Good teacher..Willing to help you out!

I don't like math and i was scared of this class because it is a common final with all the other classes.His tests are take home, so you don't know how u will end up.however,I didn't miss any lecture,I asked questions and I studied, so I got an A in the class. Dont think of doing good if you dont do the take home yourself...

I failed math twice before and took his class and got a B. What he covers in class is whats on the test, hardly any homework. I am horrible at math but this guy really does make it easier. I recommend him to everyone that has to take this class.

pretty good professor, but i think if you are really really really bad at math you shouldnt take this class, but im bad at math and the take home test are actualy helpful. nice professor- if you just listen and follow along you will do fine, plus if you just read the book it helps too, and he answers all questions and explains alot if you ask

He is a great prof. very helpful, and easy to understand. has an attractive voice and he would look so hot if he cut his hair. on second thought he would make it hard to concentrate. highly recommend him if you need this class for a pre-req.

Dont listen to the person who said he wont prepare you for the gateway. I took him and i learned alot from his class. He is very helpful and he actually gives you the math you need to know. Not all the other extra stuff that will never apply later on. He is awesome. His style is different, but i liked it. It kept me interested.

If you do take home tests, and prep the final study guide he gives (which is prev. yrs test)-you're straight. He is REACHABLE when needed. Boring class because he just lectures -- a bit monotone but a sweet guy, easy grader, helpful. Gives study guides prior to exam and goes over the study guides. Study guide pretty much the same as exams.

He was a good prof and eventho he seemed out of it most of the time he still was very helpful lol.Tests EXACTLY as essential skills,changes #s only, he recommends we study over which really helped.Class always half gone due to attendance not being mandatory.Very laid back and really enjoyed and learned well in his class,got a B+. Awesome teacher. I hate math, can't stand it. He made it pretty easy to understand. Jokes around a bit, seems to confuse himself a lot though which does make it easier to stay awake. Tests are just what he uses as examples so WRITE THEM DOWN. Do that, study, you will get an A, without a doubt.

I am not a math person, but professor Carbonell managed to make the subject easier for me to understand. Just make sure to study well prior to taking the final exam. He is a nice man and will help you if you ask. I would recommend him.

Jesus Carbonell is a really good Math 103 professor. He would tell you the formula and how/why it was used later. It is Calculus for Economics and Business, so it isn't an easy subject, however if you study there should be no reason why you don't pass. I got an A- with him in the summer. Make sure you are good with College Algebra (Math 102).

This guy is a great professor, made Calculus seem straightforward like College Algebra and yet you were challenged at the same time. He is straightforward 3 midterms and a common department final, I got an A- with him for Summer Session. He cares a lot about his students and can explain in-depth. AMAZING professor.

Carbonell is a great professor to have for math. He's patient with helping his students understand and has some funny math jokes here and there. He prepares you for his tests with a test review and some of those questions pop up on his test. He always gives a lot of time to submit homework. Basically, he makes math very understandable and seem easy

His lectures were pretty boring, but very straight forward. You don't need the book as long as you go to class. He is also really lenient with all the tests and homework. I would recommend him!

Math 103 is such a great class with Professor Carbonell basically Math 103 is the business version of Math 102- College Algebra, however it also contains difference quotient limits, and derivatives, and marginal analysis which is why it satisfies the Business Math GE requirement.

If you are terrible at math, DON'T TAKE HIM. HE DOES NOT PREPARE YOU FOR THE FINAL. He is so lenient and laid back. Never takes attendance. He doesn't reinforce homework. Awesome right? NO NOT REALLY. If you do decide to take him. Try not to use your notes during the tests. IT WILL HELP YOU. TRUST ME. I didn't and I was worried for the final.

Professor Carbonell is very lenient and does not reinforce turning in homework. He lets you use notes during tests. If you have trouble with math, I would recommend you take a class that offers more help. If you decide to take him, make sure to take good notes, attend class and try not to use your notes for the tests. That would help for the final.

He's a cool guy and his lectures are straight forward. If you pay attention in class and take notes you should do fine on the tests. He'll also allow you to ask him for help during a test for a question or two.

He's pretty clear on how to tackle the problems and he is always there to help you out. He keeps the lecture short and straight to the point.

Lectures are very dry and attendance is not necessarily mandatory. It is math though so showing up is better than teaching yourself. Very fair grader and he wants everyone to pass. He is very flexible.

Laid-back and lenient, but he knows what he is talking about. He allowed us a cheat sheet for exams. Just know be sure to the formulas for the final, though. Also, find the math department's study guide for the final exam and use it. There were things on the final that were not covered on the exams (but were covered in lecture), so be prepared!

Professor Carbonell is very helpful and willing to work with students if they're having trouble. His test are pretty simple and he does have review sessions before each Exam. I do recommend going to class especially if Math isn't easy for you. Keep up with the class, don't fall behind it can be pretty difficult to catch up.

book: yes you need the book because thats how he lectures the class. tests: 3 exams and 1 final (soo easy, you can use one page of notes) except for final attendance: does not take attendance after a week of class study guides: his study guides are litterally the test. easy/hard: so easy! always studies 2 days before and got A's/B's on my test

Friendly, approachable, and a very slight accent. He goes over material so darn fast, but this is only because he needs to. His exams are very fair. Do all your homework. As soon as you get the final study guide, MAKE SURE you know it all. You'll score 100 on the final. Best choice for this tough class.

Carbonell teaches the subject very well but I just think he goes a bit too fast sometimes. I also think he tends to explain a topic to the point where the student don't understand. I still recommend, he's so nice! He helps during exams if you ask specific questions and he pushes xyz till the end of the semester. Go to live oak tutoring for help!

He goes a little fast during lectures, but I believe it's because he has to in order to fit in the material all in one semester. If you are having difficulty with the material, just study and go to his office hours. I skipped many classes but I taught myself and haven gotten bellow a 90 in my midterms. Lenient grader!

I really would recommend this class to anyone that needs to take MATH102. His lectures and notes are legible and extremely easy to understand. He is very soft spoken, but if you sit in the front rows of the classroom (which, from my experience, most students avoided), you should be able to hear him pretty clearly.

Professor Carbonell is an amazing professor. He makes the subject easy for you to understand and is very helpful with any questions. Math is already hard but he makes it very enjoyable with his light hearted attitude. Very funny and approachable with any type of question. He gives 3 tests which he also lets u redo them if you get a bad grade.

LITERALLY THE NICEST PROFESSOR EVER �� had him during the pandemic, but he was so understanding and always extended hw due dates! His notes are great and he makes sure people aren't lost. He knows the material well. Class is graded on mainly 3 tests, few quizzes, and final. should be a easy A if you know the material.

Jesus Carbonell was incredibly lenient. The only work there is are: homework (XYZ), exams (XYZ), and quizzes. His quizzes are made by him and they're basically practice questions for you to do on your own time to help study for the tests. You do them on your own time and like the homework, he pushes back the deadlines so a lot. Great teacher too!

I had him for math 102 after having failed math 102 for the first time with another professor . He is a godsend. He gives plenty of time to the homework xyz . He extends deadlines for quizzes as well. Im currently taking his math 105. I was never good at math but he explains it in different ways and he gets math isnt for evryone . Recommend!!!

Take this professor! He is so understanding: extends almost every deadline if needed, makes sure everyone understands the material... His tests are exactly what he goes over during class and you're able to redo questions for a better grade. There are quizzes before the actual test which are all practice & he goes over them. Great professor overall!

Professor Carbonell is very understanding and considerate. He allows test corrections on exams and is flexible when scheduling a make-up exam. There is little to no homework and no textbook is required. He may have a quiet persona, but he likes to make jokes and does a great job at making sure the class is prepared for each exam. Take him!!!

I have never written a review for a professor but I love Professor Carbonell. This was my second time taking this class (with a diff professor) and I loved it. I am so bad at math, but he just made me feel comfortable. Tbh, I never checked what grade I got in the class but if I had to take it again it would be with Professor Carbonell.

Mr. Carbonell gives lots of opportunities for extra points. Very helpful. Wish he would teach Statistics. Knows that everyone has a busy life. Lectures are understandable. Gives good examples. I'm horrible in math and I passed. Yay!!

I am an older student and it has been a long time since I have taken any Math classes He was smart and funny and explained formulas in a way that totally made sense. He never minded if he had to go over the material many times for everyone to understand. I am forever grateful for this professor.

Professor Carbonell makes math more manageable. Though lectures can be hit-or-miss, his exam policies and unstuck study study tools make this course quite doable, even for math-averse students. Worth taking if you need the credits.
