Jhon was overly stingy. 20 points were deducted for being late to class, and when i disputed a grade with the supervisor, he did nothing to change it. YOU DO NOT WANT HIM. I reccommend dropping if you get him, or just working as hard as possible, because he does at least respect that.

Very strict grader. He will shoot you down no matter how hard you try. He likes to take points off of technicalities. If this is your TA switch immediately and avoid at all cost. It seems like his only job is to make sure you fail.

Jhon was always willing to help you when you needed it and explained concepts fully. He was very liberal with hints for concepts/formulas that were needed for projects/lab reports. The labs were pretty easy, but needed you to do outside research. Yeah, he took attendance, but you should be expecting to come to class to do your work.

He is such a sweet guy which makes it really difficult for me to give him a bad review. He is very smart and loves chemistry but that DOES NOT make him a good teacher. Dr. Figueroa is a gifted lecturer. Class with him was very fun and engaging. I took his CHEM2 course over the summer in just 6 weeks, and still feel that I learned the material really well and will be able to use it moving forward. Plus, he really cares about students and his tests are really fair. Highly recommend.

Dr. Figueroa is the best professor I've ever had and he genuinely cares about his students. His exams directly relate to his lectures with no trick questions, there are a few extra credit opportunities, and he uses in class clicker questions to boost your grade (so attendance is kind of mandatory). I definitely recommend signing up for his section.

Prof. Figueroa is a great guy that obviously knows a lot about chemistry but is not a good teacher. The average on his last test was an F and the previous arent much better. He goes through lectures quickly without much explanation and my peers and I seem to learn most from peer leading sessions (previous chem2 students walk us through a worksheet)

Teaches way too fast and gives you less than a minute per clicker question. Exams are never what he says they are going to be and almost the entire class struggles and he doesn't seem to want to help. Also very condescending when answering questions one-on-one, seems like a decent person but a terrible professor.

Chem 2 > Chem 1. He is well spoken but WAY TOO MANY # SLIDES the content on the exams are not emphasized WELL (I did not take good notes). When u get to the ice tables and buffer questions pray! Difficulty of exams: 1 < 2 < 3 < FINAL. Final this time was easy (but not usually). Averages are around 60% each test. DO GOOD ON TESTS.

While the class was a lot of work, I don't think he is harder than other professors. Goes thru clicker questions very fast but caps them off before each test and will always give enough questions to get all Iclicker points even if you get every question wrong (but still answered). Not the best lecturer but I've had worse. Made the final very easy.

Went WAY TOO FAST in lectures, I never was given enough time to understand any concepts and literally gives 5 seconds for most clicker questions, I wish I was exaggerating. I really struggled in this class, even though I did pretty well in Chem 1. I don't recommend this professor to anyone.

Good lectures, super fair grading scale. Not easy and fast paced, but that's just how Chem 2 is, it's not his fault that there is a lot of curriculum to cover. Goes fast through iclickers, but if you just click any answer you get one point, and if you do all of them even if you get them all wrong you will still probably get 100% in that section.

Jhon Figueroa is a good professor, but his grading system is strict and unwavering. Tests consist of 70% of your overall grade and he provides no extra credit. Also heard that other sections got a curve on the final but he did not provide it for his class. Goes through lecture fast and covers a lot of material, but that's the nature of the course.

He is a great professor who knows how to explain complex topics simply, Chem 2 is just a hard class that requires a lot of studying and some practice. There are lots of extra points built into the class and he gives more than enough studying and practice resources. You will be fine if you just pay attention show up and study!

His pace is very fast, you'll need to learn mostly by watching youtube videos. Doesn't give any time to answer the clickers. The practice tests are really useful, pretty similar to the tests. He teaches ahead and spends a lot of time on unnecessary things. Not too much Hw.

He will just read the questions off the slides without working them out for you. You just have to read them before he sets off the next clicker questions. He likes to talk about the concepts and not upload the practice learning objectives. Use the practice from the group for chemistry and from other teachers, and do not rely on what he says.

The lectures are usually huge, and by the end of the semester they're half the size, and even then he will still try to learn your names. I like his pace for lectures (not too fast), and he provides insane amounts of clicker questions. The material provided for exams is more than enough, and as long as you SHOW UP TO LECTURES, you should be fine.

However, is graded on a point system so your canvas grade is not accurate at all during the semester. Don't know your final grade until after the final.

Very straightforward in my opinion! great guy, and very nice. Makes an effort to get to know his students, but that can come with some caveats, as he regularly calls on random students for his iclicker questions lol. Class is manageable, and he does talk fast in my opinion, but it works for me. After that, it just depends on how well you do in chem

Dr. Figueroa was such an outstanding professor! The vibes were just so good in our lecture hall. I barely passed by with Bs and even a C in high school chem, and found this course to be incredibly forgiving. The chem professors are all very organized. I would 1000% recommend Dr. Figueroa, he is the sweetest.
