Speaks English but not very well. Hard to understand with heavy accent and talks too fast. Do not take unless you are already a math expert or else you'll never understand what hes talking about.
Teacher does not speak English very well, thereby making an already hard subject harder. He knows his math well and is a nice guy, but he cannot convey an idea worth a darn. Do not take math with this teacher! You will waste your money!
He isn't very clear, but he is the hot for being the last samurai.
Quit after the first day, 'nuff said.
he has a very very thick accent that is really hard to understand.this class is very good and fast paced and would be alot better if you could understand him. he is very smart and very knowledgable but he cant speak english very well. if i were you i wouldn't take him for a professor.
Do not take this teacher!! He is horrible to understand. Gives no break in a long class. Expects you to already know material for some miraculous reason. No group time with other classmates. Very fast paced. I think he is expecting to be some math wizard someday. DONT TAKE IT!! You will appreciate this advise.
Heavy accent, talks too fast, class moves even faster. The first class we went over the entire first chapter. Then second class we had a quiz over chap. 1 and went over half of chap. 2. The first class there were 35 students. By the end of the semester there was only 8 of us taking the final exam. Enough said about this professor. DO NOT TAKE.
His English is terrible, but he doesn't teach english. I thought his teaching skills were unique and for some reason I got it. No english required for this course. Its Math. I am currently enrolled in his Math 132 class and look forward to having him.
AMAZING!! I don't care what everyone else is writing, this professor cares about his students and is very knowledgable. If you think he's so terrible, show me another math teacher that lets you have notes for a test!
I loved his class. i took him for math 97 and it was the first math class that I ever recieved a B in. I'm not good at math, but he is an excellent professor. I plan on taking MATH 128 with him next. He does have a think accent, but he writes everything on the board anyways.
I adore this professor so much. I'm currently in his class for Pre-cal/Trig 128.I know that he has accent when he speaks, but he writes everything on the board. I think everything he teaches is very straight forward. He drops two lowest quiz and one lowest test, I mean what else do you really want? He lets u use notes for the exams. A+++ professor
You either love him or you hate him. He's soo hard to understand, but for some reason you'll understand what he's teaching cuz he writes everything on the board. HW is not mandatory and gives easy tests.
He's a good professor. Take him and you won't regret it. If you don't p**** his cl****, you probably got hit by a rock or something.
OMG That other guy that gave wang a good rating is out of their mind crazy! Dr. Wang's English is very poor, he has a very strong accent that makes him hard to understand, that makes his lectures hard to understand, he always ends class early and his tests are hard as****!
He's TERRIBLE.you can't understand even a word in his class.he is very mean and he talks chinese instead of English. He is not even reliable to be a teacher.his accent is AWFUL.U hate his class.I really hate it.all ma grades for the other math classes was all A...and in this class i always have stress how to pass his class.when you ask him a questio
TERRIBLE TEACHER...Don even try him...He talks nonsense and makes u all nervous in that class..he's not open to answer the questions....I hate his class
I hate him...most of class hate him cuz he's not a nice guy.he does'nt teach right he doesnt answer the question he doesnt ask u if u have question he doesnt care about the students.he is hateful/rude mean .drop ur class
Teaching meth.horrible, basically none. Shouldn't b a teachr in America. Person who hires for Math dept. must b a complete ignoramous. Y is he still teaching? Can't speak Eng, not 1 word is clear. Doesn't help, answer questions, or respect the students. Its not about a professor giving a CHEAT SHEET on a test people, have u heard of learning?
I like math, & math 124 is not hard at all, but he'll make it hard for you! He can drop your quiz grade to C if you forget to put answers into a box. During the class he just rewrites the examples from the book to the board, & doesn't encourage ?s. Very rude & notorious for yelling at his students. Please do not confuse with Dr. Wong, he is great!
dr wang is very intelligent, not rude at all. his english is poor, but he jokes about it in the beginning. very understanding & takes late work. if any one is knockin him, its because they aren't trying hard enough for a good grade. i recommend taking him if you care to learn. i enjoy his class.
He is one the worse teachers that I ever had in my whole life.He doesn't even know his students names. he doesnt look u in da class and the only thing that he does is copying stuff on the board. he's non concerning abt his students and he has a real bad temper.his english is horrible. He is not working for students. never take him
NEVER EVER EVEN TRY HIM>WAISTING MONEY AND WAISTING TIME
hes an average teacher, gives bonus pts & a cheat sheet for tests. its not his fault hes got an accent, hes asian- & most math teachers are asian-their the smartest. dont blame him for the bad grade, most people are poor at math anyway-especially an advanced class. hes helpful, understanding. drops test scores too. expect a c unless ur a genius.
Very difficult to understand.hard to follow.Gets frustrated when asked questions, and if asked to work a problem, will verbally dictate it w/o writting it on the board. He's very cruel and unprofessional instructor. Just don't take his classes period...He grade VERY harshly and also v. mean.
flag Awful teacher. He takes pride in seeing empty seats throughout the classroom and throws tantrums in class. He is rude and does not help you out. I entered this class loving math and am now stuck in it and despising it. Horrible teacher, if you want to learn anything, take another professor.
Dr. Wang is a fabulous instructor and very lenient. He drops 2 quizes and 1 exam! Some quizzes are take home and the final is not comprehensive. His asian accent is very thick but he writes everything on the board. You don't have to memorize all the formulas because a one page cheat sheet is allowed. This is supposed to be a tough class that moves
his english is hard to understand at times, but he explains things in simple terms and writes out problems step by step, if you can get past his dialect, he teaches great and his grading system is merciful
Dr. Wang's class was very good, he taught the class well and even though he has a strong accent if you pay attention you can understand him. It is immposible to fail this class unless you are an idiot. You also get to drop your lowest test grade and two lowest quiz grades. Im not very good at math and i passed this class.
he's a piece of work.not a real teache.heavy accent,bad grading,mean...ral hateful class
Yes, he has an accent but if you pay attention and always in his class you will get an A. He would help you if you insist to know and be patient to wait until the class is gone and he will help you until you clearly understand.Very nice man and know all his material and always prepared and ready.
He's helpful. If you don't understand he will be patient and try to help you get a good grade.
Heis a great teacher if you can pass his accent, he is always there to help you but wait until the class ends if you have variety of question and he does not make you feel stupid when you ask a lower level material than what he is teaching. I got both A's on Math 126 and Math 128. I took the Math 128 instead of Math 127 just to be in his class that
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
teacher is very nice, however accent is VERY heavy and at times hard to get past.. once you get used to it its ok. he does try to help you pass the class by dropping your lowest quiz and test score which is good.. assigns hw but does not collect or grade. if you GO to class and pay attention you should be good to pass his class
This class has been difficult because of Prof Weng accent, eventually you begin to understand but its a struggle, and there is no time for questions, pay close attention do all the hw assigned and you will make it, phone a friend for help
Has the tendency to blindside you on a test.
It is a hard class if you do not do extra book work on your own. Otherwise he is very good at making sure that you understand.
Accent is very difficult to understand at first. Got slightly better later on. Due to accent, very few questions were asked, I feel. He is concerned and very helpful. I went thru reams of paper doing homework. This was a review course for me since I am an engineer, but I had to really work to get the A.
Great Professor!! Although I must admit that it is hard to understand him at times. If you put in the extra work and effort you'll do just fine. His tests are relatively easy inaccordance to the homework, there's definitely no trickery here.
Summer class so it's shorter and faster. At first his accent was unbearable, after the first few days you learn to watch what he write and how he solves problems on the board and slowly understand him. Very willing to answer questions. No drama on his part. Gave +10 points outta nowhere on each test. He generally loves teaching and it shows
EXCELLENT teacher! this was the least painful math class i've taken in a long time. very easy to follow, if you can't pass his class then there is no hope for you
Yes, his accent's a little tough.... and sometimes he totally misses the question you've asked him in class, but he makes up for it with the personal help he will give his students before and after class, and he's patient. Good sense of humor too. Math 128 IS hard and fast paced though. Know your stuff.
I took a MATH 097 class (accelerated) from him. At first, I thought I was going to have a rough go, due to his accent (which he addresses on day 1). However, after a few classes, it really got a ton easier understanding him. He is a great teacher, a fair grader, and will go out of his way to help. Overall, an excellent teacher.
Don't even think about attempting this class. Save your money and go elsewhere.
He speaks little english, but he good. He help lot. Do take for A! Go WANG!
Please send a mock student to see just how bad he is. How can you expect students to do well in a class when the teacher can not speack fluent english this is absurd and CSN Board of directors should look at this closely.
He is absolutely horrible does not speak english well at all and does not know who is the head of the math department, this guy is arrogant and english speaking students have to studey that much harder and he is not fair but will give you a good grade so you will not complain to the Chair!!
I was scared to take this class, because the reviews were so bad. I'm not gonna lie, the accent scared me at first and I didn't think I would do well in this class. Honestly though, this teacher does everything he can to help you get a good grade. At first, class seems hard and scary but if you stick with it you'll do well! It's not that bad!
You get accustomed to the accent very fast. A very helpful professor and has a lot of tricks to help you understand the problems very easily. Will hopefully be able to take math 96 with him next semester. Made Algebra very easy to understand.
Dr. Wang is a good professor. His class is not easy but he is willing to help if you ask. It is hard to approach him, he appears uncaring and his heavy accent does not help; if you ask he will give you the time. I would only take this professor if you enjoy math.
This professor absolutely can care less about students. He uses trick test which shows how bad he his at teaching because we normally cannot pass his test. He thinks certain groups are not intellegent enough for his classes. If he taught as the class should be taught he would have better grades. He should be gone.
I am taking his summer class and despite his accent, he teaches well. He will explain things if you don't understand him but as long as you focus on what he writes in the board, you'll be fine. He's very nice and will let you take quizzes home and drop the lower scores. If you don't wanna do homework, you'll do bad, Otherwise, he is very good:)
He is very difficult to understand. His accent is not minimal its very strong. I honestly mute him out during class because I only pay attention to what he writes on board. I pretty much have to go back home and teach myself using math lab. You need alot of patience. Also, he will not let you off easily on little mistakes. Work needs to b perfect!
His accent really isn't that difficult to understand, despite the other reviews. As long as you follow along, it's a pretty easy class. He lets you drop two quiz grades & one test grade, & some of the quizzes are open book or take home. He does what he can to help you. I took 7 classes this semester, & still passed his with a B. Recommended!
First the negative: The accent- at first it may seem a little overwhelming, but all you have to do is pay attention. If you follow in the book and do the problems on the board, you'll do just fine. Positives: He's extremely helpful when you ask questions; He makes the material easier to understand; and he makes a few laughable jokes
I had to drop his class after attending once, as did most of the other students in my class. He seems like a really nice guy and he knows his stuff but you just can't understand him. If you're good at math you might do okay but if you attend math classes because you're bad at math, I suggest finding another professor.
CSN prof Dr. Wang is excellent at teaching. He comes prepared, writes neatly and explains clearly. He's passionate about Math, encourages students, and gives tips on how to succeed in Precalculus and higher Math. I miss him & his favorite sayings, "Use the quadratic formula", "You can't be lazy", "Be careful!", & "You can't jump in Math."
Professor Wang is a fantastic instructor. He is very passionate about math and genuinely wants every student to do well. He also has a dry sense of humor which I enjoyed. He does have a strong accent but if you pay attention and do the homework, you will be fine. I'm going to take him again for math 096
He is def hard to understand. He speaks very fast and does not go into detail very much on material, however he does write things on the board as you go so you can kind of keep up. If you are not self taught, more or less, I would not recommend his class. If you learn fast you will do fine, but understanding him is out of the question.
Professor Wang is a very intelligent man, I can tell. BUT, I absolutely cannot understand him. I did not ever get used to his accent. I took the accelerated 6 wk course (only one left) and I failed miserably. I hadn't taken math for at least 4 years and he didn't help much at all. He kind of just assumes you already know the material. Not good.
Professor Wang is an awesome instructor. His accent is a little hard to understand, but he explains what he did if you are confused. Homework is not mandatory, but no homework means you won't do well on the tests/quizzes. Lowest 2 quizzes are dropped and tests are not curved. He keeps telling you that you will "Fail" which makes you want to pass.
Okay... with all the comments saying hes a horrible teacher because his English is not that clear. They are full of crap, his class was easy and helped his students a lot! His grading is awesome! He keeps the best scores from quizzes and tests and drops the bad ones. He describes every section with great detail on how to obtain the answer.
fast paced class. he will answer questions but its really difficult to understand. He is funny sometimes but the class itself is hard. During exams he will let you use a sheet with formulas or notes. his english very difficult to understand so make sure you sit infront.
I took an 8 wk course with teacher. He's English is hard to understand at first but it was easier to understand. He doesn't receive the assigned homework so it is optional to do it but when you do it the tests are way easier. He drops the lowest two quizzes from the overall grade. Being an 8 wk course it was fast paced but it was easy to understand
I had a very hard time understanding him sometimes and taught myself throughout the semester. He gives out a lot of extra credit, so there is a lot of opportunity to increase your grade. The tests can be difficult, but he gives quite a bit of preparation through quizzes and take home quizzes. Not the best teacher, but not too bad if you study.
Took his MATH128 class before in Spring 2014, and flunked. Now, because I saved ALL of his old quizzes and tests, I have a near perfect score. It sucks I had to get a D in his class before, but I'm glad I'm getting through it now. Most of his quizzes are take-home. Be warned: His first two exams are relatively painless, but Exam #3... Wow.
English is his second language so it will be hard to understand him a lot, and him you. Listening is key with him so be sure to listen and take notes.
English is not his first language so beware. but he is a really good teacher! He gives tons of examples for you to understand it very well
Dr. Wang is a great instructor. He has an accent making him a little hard to understand at times. If you really want to do well sit where you can hear him the best. If you don't ask questions, you won't get help. Don't assume others will ask the same question. He is helpful and helped me finally understand math. I recommend this instructor.
Professor Wang is the reason I am interested in math again. He assigned homework every class and always went through it during the next class. He always had an excellent response when asked a question, easily explaining the hardest concepts. I may never take another math class, but I am glad I took Math 128 with Professor Wang.
He is always willing to help. From the beginning he made it clear by explaining if the student does not do math everyday then the student cannot be good at math. i did it the same way. i b broke up my homework to do math at a minimum of five days a week and passed with an A. He goes through so many examples for students to pick it up.
Haven't taken Math classes for years since I got my 1st bachelor's. He's awesome! You just have to study for your tests and quizzes, you will be fine. He doesn't speak clear so make sure you pay attention. I recommend this class because you will learn how to strive harder to prepare yourself for higher Math classes!
Prof Wang is an amazing teacher! Had to really listen, but I learned so much! If you are not great at math, do the HW! He goes over all material before tests. A's are possible, but you have to work for it. Very funny.
My first day of class I was worried because he is difficult to understand. Turns out it wasn't a big issue. He writes a lot on the board so it is easy to follow. His tests are quite easy because he will go over them a day beforehand and he also has a few take home quizzes.
Dr. Wang is fantastic! I enjoyed his class immensely. His accent takes some getting use to, but he's witty and can explain any question with ease. Keeping up with the hw will help your grade, and he reviews questions about it if you need him to. I learned and retained more information in his 8 wk course than I did in a 16 wk course.
Really hard to understand him. Couldn't learn on first day and dropped his class on that day.
Dr. Wang's accent took some time to get used to, but you can follow along easily by what is on the board, and once you've been in his class for a while you adjust. He drops the two lowest quiz grades, but his reviews for the tests weren't great. I had him once a week for 3 hours and that makes the class boring and drag on so avoid that if you can.
Prof Wang is the best. His accent can be a bit scary at first but you get used to it pretty fast. He is witty and funny and it didn't take long for the entire class to understand his humor during lectures too. He explains challenging concepts with ease and there is a lot of extra credit opportunities. If you keep up with homework you will pass.
Dr. Wang wants everyone to pass and if you go to him one on one he will try to help you out. His accent is heavy but after a class or two you get to understand him. He also writes most of the material on the board. His classes are a lot of work but I left feeling confident in my math abilities.
I got an answer right on a test but he still marked it and said that I didnt use the right equation. He marked off 4 point out of 5 just because of the equation I used. Stay away from this professor as much as you can. He is also hard to understand because he has a thick accent.
He writes every example from the book on the board as your notes (which you need to take). I took his 8-week course, we had three major tests and seven quizzes that made up our grade, so you can't mess up if you want an A. Lectures are long and boring (mostly was review for me). Do the homework even though its not collected, it will help you pass.
I really enjoyed having him for Math 126 & 127. You use the textbook everyday, even on the first day of class. He is nice and funny. Sometimes, it can be hard to ask him a question and get a straight answer, but it's relatively not that bad. Make sure to pay attention and attend class. His accent is not as bad as some say; you can catch on quickly.
I really enjoyed having this professor. He was a hard professor, but I did learn a lot. This was my first time taking math 126, I also took his math 96 class. I took both classes in 8 weeks, but not without hard work. Even though the homework isn't graded, I would strongly recommend doing it. Tests are hard, and quizzes were short. Don't give up.
too heavy of an accent to understand, and on top of that he mumbles. had to drop the class. he seems nice and straight forward so if you can go through the class not understanding half the things he says you should be fine.
I dropped his class because of his accent. I ended up having to take him because I had no other options. Huge mistake. Even if math is your strong suit, like mine, you have a high chance of failing. His accent is difficult, and his writing is awful. He also can be pretty rude, and makes nasty comments because he thinks everyones dumb. avoid if ucan
Very heavy accent, but if you study outside of class on topic you'll know what he's doing. Textbook not required but helps, you really only use a couple pages; I did fine just studying online. Tests are short and matter a lot so studying a lot of required to pass this class. He's not helpful for help after or in class so you're on your own, study!
Dr. Wang is a very smart professor. You need to take notes! You will use the textbook during all the semester. His syllabus is one of the best- it's very specific. You will have test and quizzes to complete. Homework is not collected, but should do it in order to learn. You will need to dedicate a lot of time for extra study.
Solid professor. He has a thick accent that you will get used to. Does problems on board entire lecture, he is VERY GOOD at showing his work but not at communicating it so TAKE NOTES AND PICTURES. He is also not very good at answering questions, STAY FOCUSED and you will be fine. HW not collected but HELPFUL and similar to 7 quizzes/3 tests.
I only attended one class and dropped it. HEAVY accent and him wearing a mask makes it worse. He speaks quietly too. Not really good at answering questions so basically you have to teach yourself. Do the homework to prepare for the quizzes. I suggest get the ebook. If you're bad at math like me I suggest getting someone else. Good guy though.
Yeah, his limited understanding of English may be an issue to some, but most of the work you can get by just fine if you show up, and do the homework listed in the syllabus. All the quizzes except for one were take home, and two of the four tests in the class are also take home. Even then the in-class ones he's pretty lenient allowing notes on it.
No, I would not recommend him if math is not your strong suit like me get another professor or if classes are full, wait it out. he has a heavy accent and is not very helpful, yeah you get take-home quizzes, but what is that if you can't understand what the heck you are doing.
Math isn't my specialty and when I went to the first lecture I knew this class was going to be tough, his accent makes it hard to understand, it's hard to reach out to him outside of class, and he won't help you with the material. He will just give the lecture and then give you a quiz to take home, I feel like I pretty much taught myself everything
He may not be the easiest to understand, but you'll get used to it. This math class was NOT hard. So easy, honestly. We were graded on like 1 homework sheet (it was a take home quiz) per week and then a test every few weeks in class. Homework q from book were optional. if you pay attention you'll pass. we got let out early too! he is nice. Take it
Extremely sassy, doesn't care about his students or their well-being, he constantly attends class late. He doesn't post grades or anything online, he's slow to grade assignments, he's an extremely harsh grader. He doesn't explain what's wrong/why he docked points. His accent is INCREDIBLY strong, VERY difficult to understand/communicate with him.
Easy class,if you've taken Algebra 2 before,126and126E is basically the exact same.~1 assignment each week for weeks w/o a test,1 take-home quiz per week took 15/30 min max.3 class tests+1 department final.Class tests reflect quizzes exactly.85-95% of quizzes are take-home/homework, 15-5% are in class, only takes 10-15 min max. Dismisses 1hour early
Easiest class ever. All of the content was stuff I learned in high school. Only a short quiz was due each week, only took me like 10 minutes max to finish. Test questions were very similar to quizzes and light work. I didn't even study for them and still got an A+. Also dismissed class an hour early which was nice. Precalc textbook not necessary.
Easy class, however very hard to understand him. So if you want to pass his class, you need to be seated near him. He gives 1-2 pieces of homework every week and does an exam every 3-4 weeks. They are based off the homework. He does not post grades until the semester is over. And if you need help, ask after class cuz class ends early.
He is really old and barely speaks English and has a very thick accent. Because he doesn't understand english he doesn't understand basic questions. He can also be rude.
