Very clear for non-native speaker or anyone for that matter Very approachable.
I got an A in this class, very pleasant man.
He's great. His class is my favorite because you learn so much. It's alot of group projects but you learn from them.
This is one of my favorite classes. There are a lot of group projects, but he makes sure to prepare you for the future. Good teacher!
just dont look down at your notes during presentations & you'll get an A, everythin else is easy, VERY nice guy
Very easy class. Professor is very easy going and helpful. Easy grader.
He is super thorough with explaining assignments & what he expects. Lots of projects but since they are done in groups, it's easy!
Easy Class. Way to much work. And come on - Group memo writing? Could it get any easier.
Go to class every day and do the projects and you cant get below a b or c. He's pretty cool, but there were a lot of projects (although they were graded lighter than other classes).
Due to the "new standard business grading policy" Wang Mostly gives out C's. He is a nice professor. helps out. alot of group work. take this class you will at least get a C. My speeches sucked ass and i got B's most of the time.
Wang is one of the toughest graders there is! Getting an A is out of the question after the implementation of the new grading policy.
This guy is great! Hes also funny as hell! Basically no work except for easy memos and a huge report! Easiest BA 200 class at UIC! OMG! But its hard to get an A!
Jie Wang is a true business communication pro. He is very strict, but an excellent teacher. He rarely gives out A grades and makes you work very hard. In some circles he is known as the Dragon because of his Chinese heritage and tough grading. He is an excellent person to learn from.
This is why I chose the b-school at UIC!This is a terrific class. I learn so much with this class. He is extremely helpful outside class and you can get in contact with him anythime. Wang does a great job in showing you the real scenario of business. If you wanna be motivated and learn alot choose Wang he will start your business career!!!!
Prof. Wang is one of the smartest professors I have ever had. He is very clear as to what he expects from students from day one. You do have to work very hard for an A in his class though! Get with your teams at least 2-3 times before a presentation, it will ensure a good grade. His extra credit is hard to come by so do not slack on assignments.
Very hard to get an A. He's not as easy as everyone thinks. He's very picky.
I don't know what happened to him, but in my opinion he's one of the hardest graders at uic...it's virtually impossible to get an A in his class. You might have everything done right but if you don't follow his exact format on the memos or other assignments, he'll make you pay by turning your paper completely red. I definately would not take him again.
Very strict. Very difficult to receive an A. Moderately fair.

very hard!
On one hand, Prof. Wang is an excellent teacher. On the other hand, it is very hard to get an "A" in his class. Assignments include business memos/letters, three 10 minute presentations, and a final 15 page group paper. Prof. You must put forth a lot of detail; however, Prof. Wang is always there to answers questions and to help you.
hes ok. its hard to get a good grade but hey d's get degrees!!! have 4 presentations and couple assignments. 2 tests although 2nd one is much harder than first. gives extra credit pts once in awhile but u must read wall street journal in order to have a chance at answering his questions. and oh yea jie wang loves his son...jerry wang...google him!
Overall I would say a fun class, the 2nd test is much harder than the first, its fun to be in class but he takes grading to a new level and places way too much emphasis on detail. I head Kohler is a good teacher look him up instead.
The class is fun and his teaching style is good too. But grading is big problem. I was couple points for an A but he gave me B. I worked pretty hard too...
Mr. Wang is a good teacher and is always ready to help his students for any thing which they are having trouble with which is really a good thing about him. It is hard to get an A but if you try really hard you can definatelly get an A in his class. Yeah, I agree second test is harder then the first one. overall, it was fun so good luck to u all.
Pretty anal grading but otherwise good.
This class was an excellent yet challenging experience. Prof. Wang has been extremely helpful, understanding and inspirational throughout the entire semester. I would strongly recommend this professor!!!
The workload in this class is big, but he will help you and plus it is COLLEGE, you have to WORK. If you take his advice, follow instructions and listen, you should have no problem. He is very informed about current events and takes interest in students. How many other professors do that? TAKE HIM, you will take away valuable information.
Wang is a great teacher. He teaches stuff that is actually useful. Cannot pronounce his R's though.
Professor Wang is a good teacher. He is very helpful and even takes time to help you if you need help. His assignments are kinda boring.
Will humiliate you in front of everyone during class if you use bathroom during, even if you return quietly. Extremely rude and condescending.
Professor Wang is a great teacher! For all of you business students who have to take BA 200, make sure that you take him. You do have to work hard in the class, but thats college. Just make sure that you get all your assignments (even powerpoints) checked by him before you turn them in. Great teacher and extremely helpful outside of class.
Very useful class. If there's a "blended" (partially online) section I highly recommend it. Fair grading and easy to reach. There is a LOT of work to be done but as long as you do every assignment and pay attention to his easy to follow syllabus, you'll be surprised at how much you can do. You WILL become a better communicator after this class.
He is down to earth and funny, but you can tell he is knowledgable about the material. The class isn't hard but you have to be prepared to work in groups for the whole semester and do presentations. He gives a lot of chances for extra credit, so he's really generous about that! He's also Jerry Wang's dad, so that's definitely a plus!
If you take good notes during class and do all the assignments you should be able to finish with a A or B. There are quite a few presentations but nothing to loose sleep over. He knows his material and is overall a great teacher.
Do not let his foreign name scare you away! Professor Jie Wang is a great public speaker, who can teach you the right way to communicate in the business world. His lectures are very straight forward and helpful for exams and presentations. He is one of the few teachers at this research school who prioritizes teaching and his students. This was evid
Jie is a great guy. He understands students needs, and is definitely there to help his students understand and grow into professionals. He cares about each individual student, and it shows in his teaching style. If you want a teacher that wants you to learn/succeed in business communication, take Professor Jie Wang.
Awesome teacher...one of those teachers that is really knowledgeable with their subject...Really helpful when it comes to needing help, and straightforward...he will make you sing if you miss an extra credit point.
he is extremely awesome. Dr. Wang is extra-ordinarily helpful and knowledgeable about what he lectures too. everything he said in class will surely be helpful in the business world.
Easy A. Thats all you need to know. His test are straight from the notes. The test can be tricky. And he may be a little stubborn giving out perfect grades but with his EASY extra credit, I managed to pull the A.
The workload in this class compared to other BA200 classes is huge. I had friends taking the same class with other teachers and they didn't have to do anything! I felt like I had to do so much work to get an A. I am surprised by all the positive comments about his class. Yes, he is a decent teacher, but if you want an easy A go for another teacher.
He's decent but not as great as everyone says here. If you want to get an A, you WILL do the extra credit oppounrities. He always just give out B on assignment unless you're super outstanding. Overall, you can actually learn things in this class - Recommand
Wow! Another amazing professor at UIC! I got an A in his class, but worked my but off! If you want an A, do ALL the work he assigns on time, and ALWAYS dress up for presentations! The material you learn in his class will be helpful not only through the rest of your college career, but also when you graduate and get your first job! A+++ Teaching!
Mr wang does an awesome job at teaching, the class is easy as long as u pay attention to his lectures. It was amazing being in his class
Mr. Wang was amazing! Very helpful, very interesting class def take Wang i f you have the chance!
If you will take BA200, Wang is the best choice! He's very easy going and clear and helpful. Very few homework, basically most of them are team work. Extra credits are up to 10 points. Recommended!
Easy if you just do your work. Also offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. There is no way you can fail team presentations b/c he grades individually even on those. Good prof., the class isn't hard at all, I don't know what some people here are talking about.
Great professor, there's no way you can fail this class if you do all his assignments. It is NOT an easy A, so do all his extra credits!
I learned a lot from his class. There are a lot of presentations but overall this is a great way to gain experience. He is a semi tough grader, and his tests are quite difficult but I would strongly recommend him.Great guy overall.
Great professor! Teaches you many valuable things that you will use in the business world. I highly recommend this class
Great professor, very clear and concise. While presentation questions may be a little tough at times, he does so to get the best out of you. Would definitely work with this professor again.
First and foremost - great speaker (you'd hope so). His class didn't even feel like a requirement to me. Everything was very methodical, clear, and specific. Assignments graded in a transparent and timely manner, and announced plenty ahead. Often inserted mini-lessons on English and the modern business world, very handy. Great sense of humor :)
Always look at Chapter Highlights for exams. The class is basically like a speech class. Not too bad, dress appropriate for speeches.
Professor Wang is great. Overall the class is easy, but if you hate presenting try to take another professor. There are about 5 group presentations throughout the semester, 2 pretty easy tests (just read the chapter highlights he provides), and a term paper. Highly recommend taking him, he is very nice. And he gives extra credit.
Nice, easy going guy. Lots of group work and presentations, but they are not very difficult. If you put in the effort and time, you could get an A.
Professor Wang is one of the best professors UIC has to offer. If you need to take BA 200, take Professor Wang. He is nice, understanding, and above all, easy to understand (as opposed to a lot of other professors at the University). The work load is not bad either. As long as you pay attention in class, you will do great in this class.
Dr. Wang is one of the best professors at UIC. His lectures are easy to understand and informative. He includes little grammar lessons that come in handy when you're working on assignments. And he gives clear instructions and quick feedback. Definitely take his class!
Class is fairly easy, most of the class was based on group presentations and working in teams. 2 easy tests, 4 grammar quizzes, participation, and extra credit at the end.
90% of this class is group projects throughout the semester with the same group. Good group good grade. Only complaint is that his assignment delivery is chaotic. You'll see a list of assignments on blackboard, due dates on another page, and assignment details in a third location. Organization is a must. Very thorough otherwise and kind.
He's a beast. Reccomend his class.
He is extremely helpful. Most of this class is with group projects other than taking the five not so hard quizzes and two tests. I would say this class is very helpful when studying business and will teach you a lot. He also gives you many options throughout the semester to take part in extra credit.
Very easy flowing class overall. A lot of the class work however is based on the group you assemble in the beginning of the class, so a good group will lead to a good semester. Wang is very easy going and is willing help. Show up, do the easy assignments, and you'll get an A.
Teaches you useful important things that you will utilize throughout your business career and does it in a fluid and fun manner. Just put the effort, work together with your group and you will be thankful you had such a great professor.
Professor Wang for BA200 is the definitely the way to learn Managerial Comm. You think you now english grammer huh?! It was a really fun class, pick a good group you can work with and the semester should go well. Make sure you work hard and use all extra credit opportunities! Overall: Outstanding
You'll get an A as long as you put in some effort. You'll learn valuable information that you can use outside of the classroom and Professor Wang is always willing to help, especially if you go see him during his office hours. Few online quizzes, discussion posts, tests and group projects, but they're easy. He's a sweet guy, take him!
The only thing hard were the online grammar quizzes. Just have the grammar guide up on a different monitor. In short, this class is comm 100, but with groups. All his notes are online. No need for a textbook. He's really nice and gives A LOT of valuable information as for as business etiquette and professionalism. He's very knowledgable.
This class will help you long term. At first he is hard to hear but you will get use to his level of speaking. Tests are easy because he provides summaries. He required text for only one assignment which required reading the text. Group project heavy. Work well with others in order to succeed in his class. Attendance is counted for points.
Prof. Wang is awesome! This class is easy. Just go to class, read his notes from the textbook to study for exams, and extra credit. There are 4 grammar quizzes and 2 exams. Go to his office hours if you need help. He is very nice!
He is an amazing professor who is very knowledgeable and very patient. One of those few people whom gives you chances and wants you to succeed. You will learn a lot in his class and have a great time.
He was a great professor. Very organized and helpful outside of class. There are a lot of presentations but he makes the process really easy. 2 exams that were pretty easy if you paid attention in class. Overall, he taught it very well and this class will definitely help you in your career.
Basically this class is composed of 3 group projects. At the beginning everyone presents their background and work history and he allows you to pick a group. You will be with this group the WHOLE semester, choose carefully. Presentations are easy, and graded leniently. Read the chapter highlights on blackboard for the tests and you're good to go.
Awesome teacher! extremely understanding and the material is actually interesting. Easy A!!
This class is seriously so beneficial. I'm glad I took it for my first semester at UIC. Professor Wang is always available and willing to give back feedback. He was great.
Professor Wang is a great professor and is always willing to give valuable feedback.
This class was so fun and one of the only classes I will actually miss. Professor Wang is a very helpful, knowledgeable professor and is willing to give you feedback on things outside of classwork as well. The things you learn in this class are extremely useful and relevant. Make sure you pick your team wisely at the beginning of the year!
Professor Wang is very knowledgeable about business communication and gives valuable feedback on assignments. Take the class and you'll learn so much.
Great professor, group projects are interesting and helpful. Very knowledgable and has many years of educational and practical experience.
This professor is very reasonable with many of the assignments he provides. He clearly outlines all the expectations and guidelines on blackboard so there should be no excuse for missing assignments. The tests are made very easy because he literally provides highlights for the book so you don't have to buy and read the book to study from.
Professor Wang is a really easy teacher! He clearly states expectations for each assignment or project that is given to you. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SYLLABUS! Its honestly so helpful with everything, he puts links to examples of what you need to do for the assignment. On the days we have quizzes, there is no class because theyre online.
He is an amazing professor. Just make genuine efforts and follow his instructions, you'll be good to go for an A. He also gives many opportunities for extra credit. He's a great person to learn from!
Professor Wang is by far the most clear, attentive and effective professor I have had at UIC thus far. Many students underestimate the importance of excellent communication in business. It is obvious the Wang is very focused on fostering your skills and professionalism. He has high expectations, but is fair. You WILL learn in this class.
This class is work heavy. But you will learn so much from this class than any other class. Professor is easy and an easy grader as long as you follow his directions. You work in you team for every project/presentation/paper so choose your team wisely at the beginning of the year. 4-5 presentations & 1 term paper at the end. Fun class overall.
He is a great professor! Show up to class and follow examples because that is key to getting a perfect score! This class is group project heavy, so make sure you choose your TEAM wisely. Class has only two tests, all multiple choice, and 5 online grammar quizzes. Also offers multiple opportunities for extra credit.
Professor Wang was by far one of the best professors out there. If one thing is for certain you will learn something in this class, usually quite a large amount. The class has a good amount of group projects/papers so make sure to choose your group wisely and follow instructions closely to ensure success. Would take this professor again 100%
This course requires you to do three main group presentations. It is important to choose wisely for your group because you will have to work with them for the entire semester. The class is an easy course if you put the effort to study for two tests that are multiple choice and prepare for the presentations.
Prepare your presentations well and do online discussion posts. Do not miss assignments. For the online quizzes, you do need to study a bit. The in-class tests were very easy, provided that you prepared well for them. Attendance sheet is passed around, and you get 2 unexcused absences. Remember, perform well in presentations. Choose good group too!
Great Professor! You get 2 unexcused absences, but he has BB days where you do an online assignment instead of coming to class. Pick a good group, I had a tough time with mine. Study for the grammar quizzes! Professor Wang responds to emails faster than any Professor I've ever had and cares about his students and their success. Highly recommend!
Great professor. Really helpful and genuinely cares about your success in the class. lots of extra credit opportunities.
Let me be clear, he's a good teacher. But, when presentations are the goal of the class, the grammar quizzes make no sense. I never got above a 7 in the quizzes despite getting a 720 on Eng. SAT. I had a group where I basically carried each present. I think we should choose our own groups, and why do we need to know whether to capitalize Fiscal?
I took this class due to the high ratings. Not disappointed. Prof. Wang spent a lot of time making his syllabus, and it is extremely useful. Even though I purchased it, I did not need a book as everything was given in class. Most large projects are group based, so find the strong person in your group to make the magic happen. Would take again.
All of my classes combined had as much work as his one class. Way too much work, lectures twice a week, multiple projects at once. My group members were useless morons who did absolutely no work on any of the assignments (there were about 10). I let him know multiple times with evidence and he did nothing. Too much work, not worth it.
Make sure you find a group mates who are willing to put effort. He is reachable outside of class and even provides good feedback. He is a respected professors and knows exactly what he should teach. Make good connection with him! I liked the way he makes use of group projects and quizzes. Quiz can be tricky if you don't study.
Dude took BA 200 way too seriously. Most of this stuff was common sense but made it so much harder than it had to be. Very opinion based assignments and quizzes. Would not take him if you don't have to.
I think the bigger issue is not his teaching, it is what he assigned. Multiple group work is not it, my groups have so many problems with agreeing, and it is not a fun experience.
One of the best professors in UIC, he is very professional in BA. I regret that I only took one of his classes. A professor I highly recommend.
Professor Wang cares about students in lectures. Doing the class is helpful to pass the class and useful for other lectures.
Super informational! Fun class, I wish I took it in person. Great professor and knows his content, take notes because he won't post them on blackboard
This class is very group project heavy. You will be put in group projects in the second or third week of class and your stuck with that group the entire semester, unless that group doesn't do any work. Overall, the professor does care about every students success and gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
Although it was in an online setting, Professor Jie was accommodating. I would argue that his class structure was among the cleanest. Everything was outlined from the beginning; anyone would most certainly appreciate an organized syllabus like his. He also takes pride in teaching at UIC which makes me feel like he truly cares. Great professor!
Great professor who shares lots of valuable knowledge. Group projects are a really big part of this class so make sure you communicate well with your group. Make sure to study for the grammar quizzes since they are easy points and have a big weight on the grade. Aside from that, just show up at the lectures and that's all you really need.
The class consist of group works/presentation. I'm a really shy person but this class helped me with being comfortable to present and work well with large groups. This class is super helpful in the long-run. Assignments can be slightly overwhelming so pick the right people in your group.
Prof. Wang was awesome. He gives amazing feedback on rough drafts so when you turn it in, its at 100%. The whole entire course is basically a few group projects with two tests. You will have to study pretty hard for the tests, but some of the questions are common sense. Pick a good group for the semester because you will have to do a lot with them
He is a awesome professor. And gives extra credit opportunities. Take him you wont regret.
Great professor! Group projects make up a huge part of this class, so be sure to choose people you can depend on. He is very accessible through email, so don't hesitate to email him if you have any questions. Read the syllabus, ask him for clarification, do the work, and you'll get an A.
Fairly simple course. Grammar, writing, communications oriented. Make sure you choose a group with the right people. This was the only thing that made me frustrated in this class, not having an adequate team. Stick with people of the same major. Quizzes are online and open book. Presentations are fairly simple.
Great teacher! I definitely learned to be a better writer! A doable class where you actually learn skills for the future!
Great professor and he makes the class very engaging. Attendance is mandatory. The majority of the coursework is group work, so join with people you think you would get along with. There are also 4 grammar quizzes and 2 tests. He also offers extra credit from time to time. Overall, he makes the class really enjoyable.
The rating distribution speaks for itself honestly. Just make sure you send your work to the TA before submitting it to Dr. Wang, it literally makes the assignment a free A.
I thought this class was good. You have a lot of group projects so make sure you get a good team. The two tests were super easy if you read his chapter highlights. He offered a fair amount of extra credit that few people took advantage of. He took attendance every time. The assignments themselves weren't that difficult, just be ready to write.
Professor Wang is a good professor. He explained things pretty well and had clear grading criteria. The class is very group oriented, so choose your teammates wisely. There's also a good amount of presentations but he grades nicely. I would take him again and recommend that you take him for BA 200
One of the harder professors to take. Tests and quizzes were very difficult.
Professor Wang is very knowledgeable about business communication. He often talks about his experience consulting for companies. There are two major tests and five quizzes in the class, plus a bunch of writing and presentation assignments. He's a fair grader and gives many extra credit opportunities. Take him, you'll be glad you did.
Professor Wang is exceptionally knowledgeable in business communication and provides numerous opportunities for students to develop both professionally and personally. The emphasis on group work makes this is one of the most valuable and insightful courses I've completed so far. Great professor!
This class is group based so be prepared to work with others. Professor Wang is extremely helpful and straightforward. He will explain exams, projects, assignments, etc very throughougly to make sure everyone understands. He is very intelligent and knowledgable about what he teaches. Awesome professor!!
Professor Wang is very knowledgeable and very helpful. He makes sure everyone understands the assignments and is reachable outside of class. You will walk away from this class knowing that you have learned something. He is a great professor and I highly recommend his class.
Professor Wang is overall a very nice professor. You will work on group projects the entire semester. The group projects are pretty easy, however, he gives out bi-weekly quizzes on grammar which he doesn't teach at all during the class. He reviews the quizzes after the fact, but I don't recommend taking this class if you're not good at grammar.
Professor Wang is very knowledgeable about business communication since he consulted for companies for many years. He shares his experience working for companies in his lectures, which is really helpful for a course of this nature. It's good to have a professor that can connect the classroom with the real world. Take him and you'll learn a lot!
Prof. Jie is a good professor! There are 5 quizzes, and all the assignments are based on group projects. This is one of the best professors I have ever had.
Very nice professor! Group projects very easy and a few papers. However, be aware of the quizzes because those can be tricky.
Assignment are easy since there is a lot of examples and the TA is available to help. He is quick to respond to emails and give feedback. The course is very heavy on group projects. That being said be careful with who you choose as teammates, you'll be working with them for the rest of the semester. You can request a change, but not always granted.
The class is very easy but there's a lot of group work and presentations. In fact, its all group work there were no individuals assignments the whole semester. The professor is pretty good. Its a pretty easy class.
Professor Wang's BA200 is project-heavy but manageable. Quizzes can be tricky, so stay on top of your grammar. unstuckstudy proved helpful for study prep. Overall, an engaging class with a knowledgeable professor.
Lots of projects, and he's great
Be prepared to do group projects every week. This course is very project-heavy for just a 3-credit-hour course, just saying. He's nice and gives good group feedback.
