Really helpful with the math work. Always took my questions.
She is very nice and will come around and help you at your computer!

I really enjoyed this class. I only had to go to the math lab for class and she was always really helpful and quick to answer questions. I would recommend her!
As good as it gets. Very helpful and accommodating!
Mrs. Chambless was a really nice professor and honestly is the best math professor I've had here. She puts the notes online, so all you have to do is print them before class and fill out the answers to the problems as she goes over them. I really hate math (especially Calculus) but Mrs. Chambless made this class really easy.
I really enjoyed her class. She had great notes and seemed like she would do anything in the world to help you if you went to class everyday. Attendance is mandatory, but she wasn't too intense about it. I was late some and she didn't seem to mind, but she did seem to get agitated when people would sign the roll and leave. Overall, I recommend.
A very sweet teacher. She seemed very willing to help anyone make the grade. Her class is rather boring, though, and she tends to lose her train of thought quite often.
She is always willing to help you out.Go to class, its only once a week, it will help your grade. I made an A in this class, take her!
Prof. Chambless is a good teacher. In the math class I took (for elemenetary school teachers) she is very strict in her grading. If it's not exactly the way she wants it, you don't get full credit. Sometimes it's hard to understand what she's trying to say, but she's not a completely unfortunate teacher to have. Just be ready to work.
Good teacher. She may encourage you to work ahead... DONT! If you do, you still have to attend class. The class I had before her did not make me do that. I didn't know that she would penalize me for working ahead until it was too late. When I talked to her about it, she said I still should have been in class. I almost failed. Good teacher though.
Very helpful and clear. Didn't put up with any disruptive students, so it was easier to concentrate. Very personable.
Very good teacher. She's very clear when explaining which is wonderful for a math teacher. She's also very nice and tries to help when possible. Heard some students complaining, which is ridiculous since she was basically teaching elementary math and they couldn't understand. Only downfall of this class is tons of homework that takes hours. comple
I found her class pretty challenging. She is not a very fair grader. Homework takes forever and don't get lazy with it because that will cost you. Make sure that you see her whenever possible if you have a question because she will see that you are trying and help your grade. Tests are pretty close to impossible, so study hard!!!
She truely cares about her students and is in the Math Lab frequently throughout the week. Take a class on Mon and Wed so you can get the study hours on Wednesday night as opposed to classes that are mon wed and fri.
Great teacher! Just keep up with the assignments and come to test reviews and you will do well in the class!
She is so nice and a really great teacher! As long as you keep up with your quizzes and homework then you'll be fine! She always sends encouraging emails!
Jil is great. She is the sweetest and makes things super clear. The class is a little bit on the boring side sometimes, but it never actually goes the full length.
She is so sweet and really cares about how you do in the course. The class can get boring but she helps a lot in class and in the math lab if you need it.
Nice lady. Fairly easy class, if you keep up with the work. It's all online, so you can pretty much work at your own pace as long as you meet deadlines. Prof Chambless was fair, helpful, and very clear about what she expected of us.
This class was pretty easy because I remembered most of it from high school, but I don't think I would have done too well if that wasn't the case. Everything is online, and I don't recommend procrastinating too much, because sometimes there're issues with the software. She is a good teacher, but sometimes gets flustered.
I did not care for this professor because she was never around to help me when I needed help. She was kind of rude at times too. The class is all computer based so you are out of luck if you need help on anything.
She was great and clear during class, and the online homework was really good too. She was always available after class for questions and was the sweetest woman.
Jil was a great professor & super nice. She was very good at explaining the material. The final is optional and can replace your lowest test grade. The class was also pretty easy as I made an A+ without needing to take the final.
a very hard class all online, I could never find her for lab hours either.
You have to have online access code, but having the actual textbook is pretty much pointless. She is very helpful and good at explaining and answering any questions. Good teacher, but will hold you in class until the last possible second. You use clickers for attendance, so you do have to go. Also, final is optional!
Very helpful teacher. I thought this was an easy class. As long as you keep up with the homework and quizzes you'll be fine. Make sure to do study plan right away too. Don't leave it to the last minute otherwise you're screwed.
AMAZING teacher! I've never received an A in a math class (I failed my senior math in HS) and I got one with her. Go to class and the MTLC because it is part of your grade. She gives you the notes from class, so you can look them during your homework and quizzes. All work is from a software you can always work ahead and know what grade you have.
Good teacher
While this class is easy, Mrs. Chambless is not the greatest teacher in the world. She is VERY slow replying to emails. Don't email her the night homework is due expecting a helpful reply back. She will wait 24 hours or more. She is inconsistent about posting notes online granted that these notes are a must for completing the h/w. Take someone else
She's very nice and very helpful. Even though she tends to repeat herself a lot, she explains things really well and makes the class really easy. Plus all of the actual work is online and there's a "help me solve this" function with it if you get stuck. Super sweet lady and a great teacher!
Very nice, easy going teacher. Very helpful to those who know math on a novice level. Very laid-back and easygoing teacher. Made an A in her class, yet before her class averaged a D in Math.
This class is basically completely online. Do not buy the textbook, you will never use it. Class is not mandatory and only 1% of your grade is attendance. Finish all your homework and quizzes on time and you will do great.
pretty hard stuff and she talked so much we never learned in class. i taught myself everything online.
This is one of the easiest classes you could take in college. I absolutely hate math but all you have to do in this class to receive an A is do the homework and tests, which are both extremely easy. You honestly don't even have to go to class to learn the material, but it helps with attendance points. Mrs. Chambless is also really sweet and helpful
Hated this class. Defiantly would recommend taking math 112. I as well had to teach myself the material : I had previously taken Statistics and all my core maths in High school otherwise would have failed. The teacher is not helpful, class is boring and no instructions, as well as most people in the math lab would be confused to on our homework.
Jil is a nice, sweet lady. She covers material slowly but that's to help slower leaners. She's usually at the MTLC if you need help during your lab hours. Overall a good teacher!
So easy!! She is super helpful, and wants all her students to do really well. She explains everything well, and she is always available to help. She is really understanding about assignments and does everything she can so that her students make good grades. If you just do your homework and quizzes (all on MathLab) you will for sure get an A!!
Nice lady but she will work through 2 problems in a while lesson and move on. Most of the time the 2 problems she does work through are the simplest and does not prepare you for the more difficult ones down the line
Professor Chambless is so sweet! She always is very quick to respond to emails and help after class if needed. The class itself is not hard at all. You can complete homework and quizzes as many times as you want so there is no reason to not have 100s on the homework (quizzes at least an A). She also drops two low HWs, quizzes, and tests. Super easy!
Ms. Jil is a great professor. She is there to help, and loves the material she is teaching. There is no reason to not get a good grade in her class. Homework and quizzes can be repeated as many times as you want and the highest grade is taken.
Wow, Jil Chambless is the best math teacher I have ever had. She makes the material easy to understand and makes lectures fun and enjoyable. She explains any questions you might have at any time in the lecture. If you are taking math 112 PLEASE do yourself a solid and take her class.
She is sort of monotone but overall a good teacher. Would not recommend to take her early in the morning.
She explains the material in a way that makes it more confusing than it actually is. I was in the class that used WebAssign instead of myLabsPlus and the quizzes are exactly like the homework, the tests are exactly like the quizzes, and the final is exactly like the tests, so if you memorize the questions you will be fine.
This class is usually once a week and she goes over what you are going to have to do on the homework and quizzes. You should go to the classes because you get 3 points on your final grade if you show up to every class. Also they drop 2 of your lowest quizzes and homeworks.
I liked her. She is really nice and explains well. She does ramble and it gets really annoying. To pass just do the work and optional study because it's helpful. At the end of the semester, I got 3 quizzes and homeworks, 2 labs, and 1 test dropped. I didn't study for the final and my B dropped to a C. So do the optional study and you'll be fine.
DO NOT take this professor. She drags out her lectures and adds pointless things at the end of lessons to confuse you. When she opens her mouth, she sounds like she's yawning. Don't get me wrong, she loves math but she's annoying and can't teach. Lectures are long and should be shorter, if you have questions she will direct you to the math lab.
Overall a good class and a fair professor. Talks a lot so expect to be in class the entire time
I had her for Math112 and she was amazing. She only has one lecture a week so you should expect to be there for the whole time. She teaches really quickly but you get really good one on on experience during her lab times and she's always there. I would totally take her again if I could, she is such a sweetheart. She also drops a lot of low grades.
This professor is a fair professor. She is very nice and does talk a lot but she makes the exam fairly easy. The work on Webassign is all very easy and straightforward for the most part and all of the test material comes from those assignments. You get a 10% bonus whenever you do then early too so it's real easy to make a 110% on your work.
The teacher made the class easy and made studying even easier. The class has a lot of work but you just have to stay on it.
You have lectures and lab separately once a week, a lot of lectures, homework and quizzes but if you do them before the due date you get extra credit and if you know the material you will do fine on the test
I took Precal before in highschool so her class neither helped nor hurt me but when I forgot something that I learned before she made the math so simple if you just listen to her. She interacts with all her students in class. Even though class is long and sometimes boring it is always informative. If you think math is another language then take her
She is like a speed demon through lectures, which is very frustrating if you are learning something that you don't understand. Her voice is SO annoying, but other than that, she is a really good teacher that knows what she is talking about. Another annoying thing, she doesn't post notes online, so you HAVE to go to class to learn the lessons.
This is a really simple math class. My only complaint is that there was too much homework. I felt like I had the concept down after only a few problems but there were just so many. Honestly either teach yourself and finish the class early, or come, ask questions, and slowly but surely pass the class. Also, do things early and get the bonus.
Jil's an alright teacher and she really actually cares about her students. BUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS IF YOU WANT TO DO WELL IN THIS CLASS.
She definitely doesn't care whether you learn or not. I took her online class, and on multiple occasions I tried to contact her for help with no reply at all. DO NOT take her class if you struggle AT ALL with math. She did not help me at all and I can honestly say I learned nothing from her class.
Everything is online, as long as you keep up with the work it's an easy A
She doesn't take attendance so that was bonus. When I did go to class, I got a lot out of it. She explains concepts very well, however she speaks kind of fast so don't be on your phone and be attentive.
Did not have to go to class but chose to attend each lecture to pass the class with an A. Great lecturer. Really explained the material. I did go to tutoring once every week to really understand the material. Tests had same questions as HW. Would recommend.
honestly kind of rude, I reached out for help a few times and she didn't seem to care about my success. overall it was an easy class and she covered all the material and there are a lot of math resources at ua so my grade wasn't bad but if you're looking for a great professor she isn't it.
If you struggle with math she is really good at explaining math step by step. Attending lecture isn't mandatory but I would highly recommend going because she goes to great lengths to make math as a clear as possible.
Her lectures are very fast paced, and she over-explains everything. You have homework over each lecture as well as 30+ question reviews before the test. She allows one test drop grade (which can be your final), 3 homework drop grades, and one review drop grade. If you attend lecture and do your homework you can get an A. Overall a decent professor.
Took Jil for precal and went to class every week, but you don't have to. Most people didn't. Mandatory lab attendance once a week. Shes really good at explaining the material but has to go fast given the fact she only has 1 hr 15 min a week to teach the material. overall had a good experience and came out with an A
She tells you the first day that you don't have to come to class and that you can finish the class early if you want. The final is optional as well. The homework and tests are online. Overall the class was easy if you did the homework and the test review. If you know how to work the test review you will do good on the test.
There's a lot of homework, but you can keep redoing assignments until you're satisfied with your grade and she explains everything in class, so if you show up it isn't that hard. She also drops your lowest test and test review at the end of the semester to boost your grade.
Good teacher, but not a very strong lecturer. If I hadn't already taken this class in high school I would have struggled with her teaching. Lots of homework but it's all online with an unlimited amount of tries. COMPLETE ALL HOMEWORK 24 HOURS EARLY TO GET XTRA CREDIT (it really helped my grade in the end). Lectures were not mandatory but labs are.
She is so nice and makes the material easy to understand
This class is all online but attendance is mandatory, which is really annoying. In class she talks for too long just informing us on whats coming up. Its not her fault but this class is really hard especially without a lecture and it is hard to learn online
Professor Chambless' class is extremely easy. You don't really have to attend, but if you do she does a fantastic job of explaining everything . There's a decent amount of homework, but you get extra credit if you do it early.
She can be rude when you ask for help or if you have questions. Not the easiest to meet up with outside of class. The tests really didn't match the study guide. They also took away the lecture the semester I took this class. That did not go over well at all. Our over all test averages were around 20% lower than the semester before us who had it.
Ms. Jil is a sweet professor who likes to lecture all class sometimes. I never really attended class (maybe only like 3 times) because I already took the same course in high school so the information was not new to me. Anyway if you do go to class and study like you're supposed to you should pass with an A.
Prof. Chambless made math easier for a person like me who's been "math illiterate" for my whole life. She always wanted to make sure each student understood what she taught. If you do the homework, do it again when the due date lapses, do practice quizzes and the reviews. You'll do fine!!
There is a lot of work in this class, but as long as you do all your own work and don't slack off, you'll get a good grade. There's extra credit on all the homework. Make sure you show up because you're only allowed two absences. You also only have to be there for 60/75 minutes of the class.
Best math professor ever.
The Tests are nothing like the reviews and they are only 15 questions so if you miss a few you fail. The MTLC Lab does not help you when you go for help. They have no idea what they are doing. There are no lectures so you do all the work on your own but are expected in class. Everything is easy accept for the tests. I do not recommend.
There's a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it you'll have a good grade. There is extra credit for doing homework early so that definitely helped my grade. Attendance is mandatory for 60 min of the class and you only get two excused absences. The tests aren't terrible as long as you are on top of work.
Dog, let me tell you what. This past semester has been absolutely brutal because of this class. Jil, while I'm sure a good person, loves to make your life harder while offering minimal help with tutors that really don't do anything but solve the problem for you. Don't take this class dude, just save yourself the frustration.
Jil is a great person. She was nothing but kind to me in her class. That being said, this was probably the most boring class I have taken. I really enjoy math, but I DREADED going to this class. The material was hard and I had to study a good deal. She was not a lot of help outside of class but she did put her notes online and no attendance.
Jil is such a nice person and while her lectures were a bit boring she goes through every single type of problem you will encounter on homework. I highly recommend going to class if you have her as it will benefit you greatly. The tests are exactly like the test review but with different numbers so if you understand the test review, youll ace it.
Ms. Chambless was one of the most caring professors I had at UA. Shes more than willing to help all throughout class and is great at explaining hard concepts in easy to understand ways if you suck at math like me.
Prof. Chambless is a good math teacher; most of the problems I had in this class were with the Webassign program. One tiny mistake costs an entire problem, which made my test grades worse than I think they should have been. The good thing is that she drops a test grade. I am a terrible math student and made an A, so this course is very doable.
In my experience, Professor Chambless wasn't very helpful with this course. It was all online, and if you had any questions she would just tell you to go to the online tutoring instead of trying to help you, and the tutoring wasn't very helpful. You are very much left to figure everything out for yourself in this course.
Our classes were all online but we had access to recorded lectures. You have chances for extra credit by always finishing your homework 24 hours before the due date. There is access to a lot of materials to help you learn the material for this class.
So this was my second time taking MATH125, and this time I actually passed. Jil Chambless made the material a lot more simple and understandable the second time around, and I actually felt like I knew the concepts rather than just was memorizing formulas. That being said, this class is still HARD and you will have to work to understand it.
I had made a D in this class the semester before I took it with Chambless. She made everything easier to learn and now I feel pretty confident in diving into tougher courses now. You still have to spend time studying but if you do and understand the concepts, her tests will feel pretty simple! No curveball questions ever.
I truly enjoyed my Math 112 class. Professor Chambless made learning the content super easy by explaining it well. She also made the class aware of all resources, like tutoring, that were available by making announcements to the class. She also kept everyone very up-to-date with emails. So you stayed informed even if you didn't go to class.
She will give you a lot of homework and test prep but if you do it all you will most likely pass with a high grade
Fantastic material as long as you participate in class and show up youll make a good grade
shes an angel and so understanding. there is a lot of homework but its an easy gradebooster you literally get 100 tries per problem lol. you also get a week to do it late for half credit. if you do the homework you'll do fine on the tests and she teaches in a way that is easy to understand.
will tell you to "read the book" after asking for help. Thought the point of a teacher walking around answering questions was to help instead of tell you something a snail could figure out. My mathematics skills Improved a grand total of 0%. Thank you jill for making my math experience even more traumatic. Bubbles by a million.
Was not a fan of this course at all. We had classwork assignments every day in class. She took class time to talk about assignments and not teach the material. All notes were online, which made it even more difficult to understand. Tests were not too hard if you do your homework.
She tends to overexplain topics, and will lecture for 45 minutes leaving you with 5 minutes to do the classwork. She would be great if she didn't over explain and talk in circles!
CW every class that can be made up for 70% credit if missed, HW after just about every class, I think 5 or 6 in class tests. drops lowest test, lowest 3 cw and lowest 3 hw. she talks a lot but she knows it, tbh shes funny. if you pay attention u can do ok, if u utilized the math lab u can get 100 on every exam. best advice is go to the math lab!!!!
If you took precalc in high school, this class is easy. she does get off topic and spends alot of time on the lectures. attendance is mandatory because we have classwork that you can only do in the classroom.
Has no regard to time, looked forward to days when sub would fill in. Looking over the slides/teaching yourself is more helpful for the test than attending class. If you want to fall asleep in class, take her.
arguably the best math professor I have had at UA outside the fact that she would explain things to the point where I couldn't understand. I had to constantly go to tutoring just to understand the test material. The tests were exactly like the review. She really cares about her students and pushes us not just to succeed in her class but also life.
She loves to ramble on and takes up a lot of class time just unnecessarily talking. She sometimes teaches things more difficult than they need to be and I end up having to reteach myself almost everything.
Very average professor. Her lectures aren't always helpful and she can sometimes lecture on unimportant topics or teach the "hard way" of doing things when not necessary. Although attendance is "mandatory" because of the classwork, most of the time going to the math lab instead of class is more beneficial since the tutors help on specific problems.
This was my third time taking this course. Jil is by far the best professor I have. I took this course in a winter term, which was wonderful for me. As long as you stay on top of your work, you will do great.
Spends most of class time overexplaining concepts and only leaves about five minutes for us to complete classwork. Knows what she is talking about, but if unnecessarily wordy explanations of math just confuse you, I don't recommend her.
Jil is awesome and offers extra credit on homework and classwork if you submit either a day early. She is very nice and accessible outside of lecture.
Jil is an amazing person but often doesn't stay on topic/ over teaches what you're learning that day. She tends to talk a lot, most of the notes don't correlate with the homework and I often found myself teaching it to myself a lot. Extracredit is given for 3hrs in class& hw is 10% if you do it 24hrs before its due.
Jil is a great professor, but she tends to ramble. I would take her again, though! She cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
----------
she's really sweet, but sometimes she over-explains concepts. if you're someone who likes understanding why a concept works then she would be a great teacher for you, but we often ran out of time for a chapter.
She explains everything but it takes too much time, the material and the extra credit offered for early completion of assignments makes this an easy class. She posts notes so just reading them you can be fine without attending a single lecture. You have to show up on recitations and she is helpful.
Best math teacher I have ever had. She thoroughly explains topics and is very sweet. I made an A+ by doing the homework and going to class only. The final is a cakewalk and just like the CONCEPTS on the SG. The people saying she “didn't teach” are just dim bulbs that didn't go to class and memorize instead of learn. Definitely try to get her.
The professor can be wordy, but stay engaged and utilize resources like the math lab and unstuck study - you'll do well. Attendance is mandatory, but the class is manageable with diligence.
Prof. Chambless wasn't a bad teacher but I found it very difficult to learn from her. I did well in the class only because I went to the tutoring center after class, did my homework there, and had the tutors teach me the material. The class itself wasn't difficult I just think it would've been easier if I understood Prof. Chambless teaching better.
Her teaching is just too much. It's easy stuff to learn and I would often teach the whole unit to myself in just a day or two. But her teaching just drags it on and is very wordy or just too much to understand. It's a lot of homework and she takes the whole class time to teach and will even hold us after if she's still teaching. Do not recommend.
The only con is that attendance in mandatory and she lectures the full class. She posts all of the notes online and tests are easy if you complete all of homework assignments. Overall good teacher and easy class.
WE'RE DOIN' IT! (Birdo)
She is the best math teacher I have ever had (believe me I hate math and struggle). By doing hw early you get an extra 10% credit to it. You can email her anytime to go over hw or tests and she will help you. She also has printed notes that you can go along with and follow, HIGHLY recommend you save so much time in class. Hw is easy, attendance req
She is not a horrible teacher but the class work is difficult. You really have to apply yourself and do the homework early for a ec bump. Not the end of the world if you have to take her class but study and prepare for the test. Homework is a bit much but it's easy to knock out in an hour. Failed her class twice and have to take online.
She was good at teaching the class. You can get extra credit if you do your homework early. It's not that difficult and there plenty of resources. Go to class because attendance is mandatory. There is one classwork day a week where you go and only work on classwork. GO TO THAT! Classwork can make a difference in your grade because there aren't many
She was just really bad at explaining the problems and she would get stuck on unimportant details constantly. She would always take up the entire class time and sometimes go over it as well. I was honestly just so bored in every class but she is a very nice person it was just insufferable in there. Definitely take someone else if you can.
This class was pretty easy for me. As far as Dr. Chambless goes, she is very straightforward with her lectures and wants her students to succeed. She tends to ramble on a bit and usually takes up the entire 1 hr 15. Tests are very similar to the review. Plenty of practice available, and can finish with over a 100. You can drop one test.
I taught myself all the material. Math at UA is horrible in general but she's slightly bearable, but towards the middle of the semester I would just show up for attendance and leave.
Test are 80 percent of your grade. Mrs. Jill is very nice, she just sometimes spends too much time explaining the concept instead of just working out the problems. Super sweet and accessible tho!
